I get that some of those were "orphaned" fics where the author wasn't available anymore or wasn't going to bother uploading anywhere else. But. Otherwise. Like. what.

Oh boy this is...quite an ask. Especially bc fanfic recs are so personal? What I think is a good fic will be vastly different from other people. I have a really high angst tolerance, so please double check tags with these. Also keep in mind that I mainly read donnie-centric fics.

Turning Purple by Lizardstuff | 48,123 [ON-GOING]

Donnie slowly gets more and more sick post rise movie and the rest of the characters must find out what’s wrong and find a cure. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU, MEDICAL NERDS. Author has done research and any inaccuracies have gone over this EMT’s head. I reread this one every chapter update and every time I’m haunted by “the blueberry french toast paragraph” No I will not explain further, go read it.

MY TOP FIC RECOMMENDATION

Spider's Web with Strings Attached by CurlySwirly | 125,661 [ON-GOING]

Donnie and Leo get kidnapped and are forced to fight in the battle nexus. This is my pick for the most well written fanfic and most in canon characterization with ALL the characters. You will HEAR the characters not just through the dialogue but also through the writing itself. As the reader, you will be beaten down and have your heart crushed mercilessly which makes the pay off the most rewarding, satisfying experience that I've personally ever felt with a fanfic. This fic lives in my head rent free and I think about it at least once a day. It is my all time favorite rise fic and I highly recommend it.

It goes without saying that Unknown takes your phone away from you before he even gets you out of the apartment. It also goes without saying that he doesn't get a chance to look through it until he's brought you back to Magenta— after all, removing you without triggering the special security system or tipping that redhead off is a very delicate task, and Unknown must therefore carry it out in a delicate manner. As soon as he's in the intelligence room, with you on the floor beside him, he takes out your phone and begins scrolling through the contacts. He needs to know who has your number, who might reach out to you— deleting the RFA app, of course, is easy, but now he has to delete the contact information for the members in your phone.

Most of them, he finds, are listed simply by their real names. The actor is listed by his stage name, and that redhead is listed simply as the number 7, which Unknown finds laughable. It's a good sign, he thinks, that you put such little effort into recording that liar's name. Most of the other contact names in your phone are people he recognizes from his study of you, people you've called before or who have called you during the time that Unknown has been watching you. He's much less intimidated by these people than by the RFA, because he probably wouldn't have selected you in the first place if he thought that any of your friends or relations would pose a serious threat.

However, there is one name in your phone that really stands out to him. “Hey,” he says, immediately getting your attention. You look up at him with wide, trusting eyes, and Unknown can't help but feel endeared to you. It doesn't mean he respects you— in fact, it's hard to respect somebody who's making googly eyes at their captor without a care in the world— but at least he finds the behavior cute. “What's 'evil chocolatier who lives in the walls?'”

You snort. “Oh.” You're clearly trying to restrain your laughter, and Unknown is unsure how to feel. Are you laughing at him, or are you laughing at yourself? “That's you.”

Unknown doesn't know how to take this information. He's not angry. He has no idea what’s going on. “What?” He asks, trying not to stutter or stammer.

“Okay, so basically,” you start in on what he can already tell is going to be a painfully long story, “What happened was, a few months ago, there was, like, this Willy Wonka event that went viral online— ”

“Who?” Unknown narrows his eyes. He's understanding very little of what you're saying, and that’s starting to piss him off. It’s hard to maintain control of the situation when he doesn’t know whether his new assistant is trying to mock him or not, and it’s hard to stay calm when he’s not in control. 

“Hm,” you consider it, “Basically, he’s this book and movie character who owns, like, a weird fucked up chocolate factory where they break a bunch of labor laws? And child endangerment laws. And to be honest, I cannot imagine any kind of regulatory agency giving the green light to a single one of the products that he sells. Like, gum that turns you into a blueberry, stuff that makes you float around, et cetera, et cetera. You get it.”

Unknown nods. That follows. What you’re saying is weird and makes very little sense to him, but that much is true of most mass media produced outside of Magenta. “Okay,” he says, waving his hand for you to continue.

“Anyway, like I was saying, they had this event, right? They advertised the whole thing with fake AI pictures, and so it was really, really shitty when the parents actually got there after they had paid for tickets,” you prattle on, and Unknown tries his hardest not to be endeared— then he remembers that you belong to him, so he can feel however he wants about you. “Like, it was just some warehouse or something with a few cheap decorations? And basically, they had AI spit out the script for the actors to read, too, and the AI hallucinated a character that's not even in the original story, an evil chocolate maker named The Unknown who lives in the walls. That was around the time that you started texting me. And so—”

Unknown sighs heavily, cutting you off as soon as he gets the picture. It’s probably a good thing that you’re no longer serving as his informant within the RFA. It’s going to take ages to get any actual information out of you. “I've been using this name for longer than a few months.”

“I know, and it suits you way better than it suits that scary character with the Halloween mask,” you try to comfort him, reaching up to pat his hand. Unknown allows you to continue, only because he likes the feeling of your touch. “Anyway, I just thought it was funny, so I saved you like that in my phone. And then, you know, I just never changed it, since I was busy with the party and the bomb and all that drama with Jumin’s dad.” 

Unknown considers ordering you to change his contact name, but he finds that for some reason, he kind of likes that he's the only person left in your phone with a silly nickname. Granted, he's also the only person left in your phone, but he finds it cute that you gave a nickname to him and not to 707. “You can keep it.”

“You mean you're giving me back my phone?” You ask, incredulous. 

“Mhm,” Unknown says, “But these are the only two apps you can use, and every number but mine is blocked.” He shows you how he's restricted your use of the device to the phone app and the texting app exclusively.

“Well, wait a second,” you knit your eyebrows all cutesy, and you're lucky that the display is effective in encouraging Unknown to hear you out. “Can we video chat, too? I’m gonna tell you right now, there’s a very good chance that I’m gonna get lost in one of these hallways, and you might need to see my location behind me and stuff.”

Unknown curses under his breath, but he sees your point. It'll be better if he can see where you are when he calls you— maybe that'll stop you from doing something wrong. “Hm,” he says, snatching your phone out of your hand and changing the settings so that you can access the video call app as well. “There.” Now he hands it back to you.

“Thanks,” you tell him with what appears to be a genuine smile. Unknown isn't fooled, of course. You can't manipulate him into caring about you. But.... he gets the feeling you'll fit in better than he expected at Magenta.

Anyways! So I totally haven't been thinking myself into a feckin trench over your hc responses and its totally not over the most causal one you said. That'd be weird of me. Yeah.

What does him having a motorcycle imply???

Ok ok- hear me out. Having a specific vehicle, assumedly a custom vehicle by the way you said it was a really cool motorcycle (Or maybe you didn'tsay it was really cool and I'm just imagining that, but I'm too late to go look back at). The need for a vehicle would suggest a need for physical travel by means other than some form of televitation, which either means that he just has it for shits and giggles. Which OK go off I guess?? or you're multiverse travel system is altered in such a way that would make having a motorcycle practical. Actually where does he live? Does he live in the omega timeline or does he live in the anti void? Or does he have like a secret third location? I think some people make him a nomad which is really cool. I actually personally make him a partial-nomad, but he does have a little stop and rest place going on in outertale, but I'm rambling now and that's not what we're talking about. If he doesn't have a sit down residence then where would he even keep the motorcycle? How would he keep the motorcycle in good condition? Does he know how to do that stuff or does he take it to a mechanic? Is it just a random mechanic or does he have a personal mechanic? If he did live in the omega timeline, are people actively using some sort of transportation... Does the omega timeline have public transport???

when i was writing that specific hc i was mostly thinking about that popular headcanon that underswap sans would like motorcycles the same way undertale papyrus likes sports cars (dunno how he'd have a motorcycle bed but imagine....) and thats all i really had in mind.. but who says i cant make up some more headcanons on the spot..

I think he would get a motorcycle in a kinda fulfilling-old-wishes kinda way-like hes not trapped underground anymore, AND he can go to any au he wants (probably-Based off of abilities error has from being a glitch) so i think he totally would try to do things he couldn't before.

Canonically!! He lives in the omega timeline and is happy making friends there, which i think makes sense for his character. i dont personally see him as the kind of person to never settle, mostly based off some other headcannons of mines surrounding his want for long lasting relationships with people. But i really like the semi-nomad idea! It definitely makes a cool multiverse motorcycle practical as you said.

I also think that if he were to get a motorcycle purely out of wish fulfillment, he'd probably take alot of pride in keeping it in perfect condition :33 I think it could be a fun little hobby of his, learning the basics of being a mechanic (or just finding a real one in the omega timeline)

l actually have NO idea how omega timeline transportation works. Id have to guess theres no vehicles?? It definitely feels like a more foot-trafficy place. Blueberror would probably be the only resident to break this rule, generally causing minor hijinks by riding a motorcycle directly through a public park or something. Others would probably find it annoying, but hes so happy with his stupid bike noone has the heart to tell him off </3

any news on other parts of the toyhouse being archived? i dont really join discord servers linked to things like this & would like to know if us here on tumblr will have access.

we have everything i can think of in regards to the toyhouse saved currently! i dont have it all organized in the google drive were wokring on yet though.

so far i have everything from my darkermatters archive reorganized there, all the character icons, and screenshots and html downloads of all the character pages, minus cometcare stuff as me and rainbowmewz were working on that in a different drive initially, so we still have to move that over. everything else has been saved by other people, and will be added to the larger drive eventually

@dawn-ward (hope its alright to tag you!) has made archives of the side story images (it has everything that isnt sparklecare, cometcare, or darkermatters), and the fics.

and heres the link to the servers google drive, though again, its a massive work in progress currently and is missing a lot that we still have to upload and organize there specifically

As expected, many VODs were unfortunately muted for certain animations because of copyright issues. I know some of the artists weren't able to catch everyone's reactions to their work, and I'm sure there are many other fans & VOD watchers who missed out too.

LUCKY I was able to archive Foolish, Roier, Cellbit, and Quackity's reactions to all the animations, and for anyone interested in viewing them, I'll be uploading them to Google Drive and will post the links here when that's available.

i need your opinion. jeff blim tinky or curt mega tinky

Oh this is such a good question!

While I do have aspects that I love about both portrayals my overall favourite is undoubtedly Jeff’s.

In Time Bastard we get to see Tinky be absolutely deranged when it comes to fucking around with Ted, and Jeff manages to protrude that sadistic energy entirely. The laugh alone solidifies that for me. Jeff has such a way with playing unhinged characters (Hidgens in Workin’ boys, Aladdin in Twisted, The father in Trail to Oregon, etc) that I don’t think there is a better Starkid actor to play Tinky.

While Grace, Steph and Pete are acted as being scared in The Summoning honestly wasn’t that scary? For me at least? Idk it was more silly (don’t get me wrong I love The Summoning scene it just didn’t have that scare factor- I mean Curts dancing around in neon yellow). And while I do like Tinky having a more silly goofy side to him I prefer the portrayal of that having a more sadistic streak, as seen in Time Bastard.

I know that in The Summoning the LIBs “hold court in your own tongue and form”, (aka appear as teenagers) makes sense story wise and for a on stage preformance. But I’m a big fan of horror, so even the description Tinky being a:

“A solidarity figure. It wears a baggy, furry body- suit. It’s yellow and matted. Dirty. Stinking. Worst of all is its head. A motionless, demented goat mask. It has glassy, evil eyes, a slack jaw with big crooked teeth, a flopping wet tongue”.

Fuck so hard to me. That shit slaps ok. Tinky being refered to a “The thing”, “This creature”, “The nightmare goat”, in the Time Bastard script? Give me more of that please.

(I know that this isn’t particularly pertaining to Jeff’s portrayal, more of the script writing, but they go hand in hand. The script is only as good as the actors can make it. And Jeff does that description of Tinky so much justice).

All that being said- when it comes to drawing Tinky I prefer to draw him as Curt (plus a few extra things added to put my own spin on the design) due to that being his first human form portrayal. Also because I can’t draw goats.

Despite all this, I need it to be known that “oh boy! A spankoffski! I’m going to have the whole set in my toy box!” has and will continue to rot in my brain for many more months to come.
