Treehouse Ask: I hope you are doing well this holiday season? My ask regards Morpheus' proposal of marriage to Reader. How does she feel about becoming his wife? She's currently adjusting to becoming his queen, but how does she feel about the idea of tying her mortal self to him in holy matrimony?

Hi!!! Thank you sm for resending this ask and I hope you’re doing well too.

Yesterday I had a surgical procedure where they stuck some really big needles into my spinal column while I was under anesthesia to inject steroids. Still feeling pretty achy and not great, but big needles will do that to you lol.

Anyways on to the good stuff.

I’m going to start with getting into Morpheus and then Reader’s perspectives, to add context.

I’ve mentioned before about how I’m approaching Morpheus as a very old fashioned/proper being used to a specific standard and protocol when it comes to interpersonal relationships of all kinds. Not only is he a royal king, but he’s also an ancient god who follows ancient rules (for the most part). As a king and a god, he wouldn’t be beholden to any of his partners or feel a sense of accountability from them. They just weren’t equals. He could do as he pleased and demand what he wanted and they couldn’t. His past marriage with Calliope and past romances with Nada, Killala, and Alianora reflect this. (I also want to emphasize that the reason why Morpheus behaved this way in the past in treehouse is because that’s simply the way he learned how to behave in relationships. That was custom, both in the Waking world, which affects the dreaming, and the custom when it comes to royalty and people in power in general. And he was/is a selfish being so this feeds into that for him.)

He does truly love Reader and want to marry her, but the only way he knows how to love her is how he loved people in the past, which was dysfunctional/neglectful/toxic. Morpheus never learned how to be another way.

But he wants Reader more than he’s ever wanted anyone else and is like, if I can obtain her and secure her to me, everything else will fall into place! A lil delulu lol, but he’s not the god of thinking shit through.

On the other hand, Reader is a modern woman. Not just a modern woman, a modern woman who walked into this relationship with the expectation of modern treatment. Being treated equitably, being mutually responsible and accountable towards one another. Complete trust, honesty, and respect.

She’s not truly opposed to marrying him, but she’s less concerned with the “marriage” part of this equation as she is about the parts of a relationship that make a marriage successful. Can she trust him, will he remain true to her, will he protect her and not mistreat her, will he remain obsessed with her and not grow distant or bored. That’s where Morpheus’s one track mind and her clash.

She wants this relationship but on her terms, not solely his, from a position that can be negotiated from.

While Reader clearly isn’t secure in their relationship at the moment, she’s secure enough in herself that she isn’t afraid to hold Morpheus accountable even if it might jeopardize their future.

Spoiler alert - she does eventually agree to marry him and they have a fairy tale wedding before the baby is born and I’m sooo excited hehe.

But right now they’re essentially going through marriage negotiations, as royalty once arranged marriages. But they’re not negotiating over alliances or land or titles, Morpheus finally has met his match who wants something much more important than those things.

And every time she refuses Morpheus, he comes back with a better offer, so to speak. He’s already learned he can’t dazzle her with jewels and gold and things. He has to actually change for the better as a person to keep her. (More Hades and Persephone influences!)

(The way I see it, Calliope’s royal father, King Zeus, would have done all of the negotiating with Morpheus over their marriage. That’s what was done in Ancient Greece and what was/is done all over the world. Negotiating over the possession of Calliope, taking her from her father’s house and adding her to Morpheus’s house (aka family). This is a scenario that naturally lent itself to objectifying Calliope, placing her on a lower status to her husband.)

Reader is a very very special character to me. Not only does she represent me and how I view the world and how I view other people, she also represents the person I wish I could be and the strength/courage/bravery I wish for all people. By giving her her happy ending that she acquired on her own merits and strengths, not by compromising who she was but because she stuck to her guns, I hope to give us all a future where we love and are loved for who we are, not in spite of it.

JUJUTSU KAISEN AU

Quite literally, all of these characters would be alive and thriving anywhere else.

Nobara Kugisaki - IG Model, easy. After not getting scouted in Tokyo like she'd always imagined, she decides to do it her mf'ing self. Her results... are lackluster. At first. But as frustration wins, she inadvertently starts letting the real her shine through (complete with bouts of scathing badassery during a live complaining about her lack of fame). People begin to find her incredibly relatable and she becomes like the Jennifer Lawrence of influencers. Never once do her travels take her close to Shibuya station.

Why: That "I-Know-I'm-The-Shit-Even-If-You-Don't" attitude has nothing to do with jujutsu. Nobara has an unwavering confidence and is delulu enough to make it happen, whatever It is for her.

Yuji Itadori - As a card carrying member of the occult club in high school, Yuji starts considering his prospects for higher education (Sasaki and Iguchi will continue to need someone to hide behind as they investigate the "supernatural"). Subsequently, he finally gives into coach's insistence to join a sports team provided it doesn't take time away from his club commitments and, of course, goes All Star in whatever sport he decides to take on. Subsequently, he gets a full ride + stipends to attend university as a college baseball player after chasing his passing interest in going to the "Summer Koshien". He happens to follow Kugisaki on Insta.

Why: Yuji's need to be needed would, in part, guide his steps. I think he'd want to be something cinema related, like a reviewer! But he'd always want to coddle the cowering forms of his peers even if they weren't particularly close. Sports is a means to an end, maybe he'll study cinematography or film theory in uni! But ultimately, he's still a kid who wants to help people.

Megumi Fushiguro - Sweet baby Megs has always had a penchant with animals. They find their way to him at parties, otherwise well behaved dogs pull against their leash to flock to him... even wild animals tend to be way too comfortable getting close. This charm he has over animals amuses him though he'd never admit it aloud (he's still just as sullen as ever). Subsequently, while he doesn't need the money, he helps out as a veterinarian technician while in high school and volunteers to walk dogs at the local humane society. He doesn't have social media but he occasionally gets posted with the animals on their SM pages when they have adoption events (which tend to be really well attended afterwards). He's posted exactly one video to YouTube to an account with no profile picture that urges idiots to stop giving baseballs to dogs and leaving them unattended as aggressive chewers may end up ingesting the innards which cause obstructions in their intestines. Yuji was the idiot in question that prompted the post. He did see the video.

Why: Megumi is gentle but more specifically to life forms that deserve it. I still think he'd break the face of anyone who breaks the golden rule of "don't hurt me [or anyone I love] and I won't hurt you [or anyone you love]" but that soft spot for vulnerable beings is still there.

Nanami Kento - Nanami Kento is still a salaryman but, without the outlet that being a sorcerer allowed him when he felt dispirited, he's forced to white knuckle it like the rest of us. That is, until he finds a cause that he can dedicate some of his time to. It starts when Haibara joins a community outreach program wherein he encourages Nanami to be a volunteer mentor. It starts out rather stiffly but, eventually, things kind of click together for him. He realizes the kid he's mentoring isn't a total delinquent and the kid realizes he's not being infantilized when Nanami just cares for his wellbeing. With this understanding, Nanami really feels like his impact is meaningful and he commits to taking on more responsibilities within the program both in a leadership role and in taking on more mentees. Ino was his first mentee, Yuji was his second (mandatory after being caught underage in a pachinko casino). He couldn't get rid of either of them after the fact.

Why: Nanami isn't so bored with being an office worker that jujutsu is the only alternative. He just wants to feel like his incredibly valuable time makes a difference. He needs a cause and Papamin deserves someone to look after (quite to his dismay).

Satoru Gojo - Satoru Gojo wants for not in any universe. Subsequently, he is just an eccentric rich guy who, in a very intentionally Jay Gatsby manner, frequently throws extremely lavish parties that are the talk of the town. They are as garrish as he is outlandish but men and women flock to them for a chance at getting a peak at the Gojo clan heir. In his youth, he'd gone to a small, private religious high school and still sends individual invitations to each of his old schoolmates with the hope that one of them in particular will come. Shoko attends every party with Utahime begrudgingly at her side. Nanami curtly replies with a written "decline" to every single invitation though Haibara is sometimes able to drag him out. Geto attends occasionally but he is quite blissfully unaware that these opulent parties are solely meant to captivate his attention. He's under the impression that whatever they had in high school is long gone. Nobara has, on occasion, tried to crash these parties but security usually bounces her because she's underage.

Why: In every universe, in every life, Satoru Gojo is a simp. Especially for the lone person he considers to be his equal. For all his money, for all his power, he is always left wanting [Suguru Geto].

My Hero Academia AU

Honestly, this gave me more of a hard time. Like, the kids are the same age as JJK but, they just seem... like kids. I can't tell if it's the depth of JJK's character development or their semi-obvious cursed techniques as they relates to employment but here's what I came up with.

Katsuki Bakugo - Katsuki Bakugo is effortlessly good at a lot of things in and out of the MHA universe. While he has a keen intellect fit for many professions, I think his obsessive-bordering-on-psychopathic dedication to be the strongest, the best is reminiscent of a dude bro bullying you into buying whey protein and lifting more. He would for sure be a personal trainer who would, begrudgingly, have a social media presence where he commodifies his otherwise flippant attitude and "beats people into being a less shitty version of themselves". He would also have a private, no face cooking account on tik tok for his curated but delicious meal planning. Midoriya, unknowingly, follows both online personalities. This does not escape Bakugo’s attention.

Why: Don't get me wrong, kid is will one day be the CEO of whatever company he wants (a lot of CEO's are also psychopathic) but, considering his age and current hobbies, he was born to call his followers extras while condescending to them about a proper workout and nutrition plan.

Izuku Midoriya - Izuku and his penchant for hyper informed rants about his special interest would see surprising success as a tiktoker. Bullies would always find something to pick on him for whether that be his absent dad, his socioeconomic background, his pitiful disposition… but even they’d be clued into and following along for his long form verbal essays on pop culture (only thing I could think of in lieu of hero culture, maybe sports would be better?). He’d cultivate a community of adoring fans turned friends and collaborate with other similarly obsessed fanatics. Bakugo would be hyperaware of his channel but act really passive when any of their old middle school classmates bring it up to talk about it.

Why: I feel like tiktok is absolutely the perfect environment where people can connect over their interests and, as an aficionado in whatever seems apropos for the AU, Midoriya’s innate charm over others would shine through and garner a following. Especially because we know he knows what he’s talking about. I’d be tuned in.

Shoto Todoroki - if Enji is still in the mix, he’s likely still going to be waging war against his own weakness (in whatever capacity) and, subsequently will be both insanely successful by other peoples’ standards and still incredibly toxic toward his children in this mission. Shoto will still bear the brunt of it but will temper it with willful rebellion. Oh, you want Shoto to take over the family investment portfolio? It’ll cost you. He will be somewhat mindful of his actions so people aren’t losing their livelihoods but he will be sinking tons of Enji’s personal money into stocks or company’s with unfavorable odds. A family owned cement company that was about to go under, paying to keep a radio station operable 24/7 with semi-hourly disparaging blind items about Enji Todoroki.. these are just a few of his dalliances. Shoto is an undercover day trader using his fathers slush fund as capital. He was absolutely a big part of what saved GameStop’s stock inexplicably. Turned him a pretty profit but he refuses to give Enji the satisfaction of knowing that he may have been right in steering him to stocks in the first place. Midoriya absolutely talked at length about the phenomenon that rejuvenated his favorite game store from his youth he used to frequent with an unnamed childhood friend. Bakugo saw the segment and, while secretly giddy, did not reach out. Did thank whatever invisible hand drove the nerd to mention it though.

Why: His nepo baby status will get him in to places where he actually wants to be, career wise, but Enji is still stonewalling him into his idea of Shoto’s life. Further, he would never want his unique legacy to be tainted with whatever grace his father’s name gives him. He has time and the means to figure out what he wants to do though. And access to so much therapy.

Shouta Aizawa - I honestly cannot see Aizawa as anything not expressly kid related. The care he has when he gets on their eye level to talk to them is top tier. TBH he rounds out the trifecta of mentors who unilaterally put kids above themselves with Nanami and, arguably, Gojo. If not a teacher, I’d say a loose cannon social worker. Earnestly, this man is willing to be in the shit of it if only to spare children who lack guidance, resources, proper decision making skills, etc. as a UA teacher. He wouldn’t be of the “quick to expel and dash dreams” type of loose cannon that his teacher persona allows. He’d be more like a Benson from Law & Order SVU type loose cannon where he’s probably bending some protocols to be a bit more domineering than he needs to be so adults know that any vulnerable kids under his charge are cared for because he’s super invested in his work and their wellbeing. Plus, the man can be a little deranged so he’s not afraid to make his subtle point more clear ✨ for people who don’t appear to be getting the message when it comes to his young stewards.

Why: If there is a society that unjustly does not protect children, then Shouta Aizawa will. I think my hope is that Shirakumo Oboro isn't a lesson in every universe.

Toshinori Yagi - This man is a politician. He runs on idyllic principles which are infectious across every demographic. He appears earnest and forthright and truly got into it for all the right reasons but the reality of politics is very different from the idea of them. He still thrives but feels more and more like he's failing his constituents, losing out to other politicians who are more corrupt, who curry favor from less than savory organizations to sway policies in their favor. He's disheartened but still believes in a future with peace and looks to the youth, his biggest support base, to take steps toward progress together which includes bolstering social programs. But you know her since almost one year, and this should honestly not surprise you. It all started with some silly games.

2 weeks prior

I wake up to the sun shining on my face and birds chriping outside my window. I live about 5 minutes from my office, so I can always wake up 10 minutes before I actually have to get up and get out. Lucky me can't eat breakfast cause I get sick when I eat in the morning. Shuri doesn't like that characteristic about me, which is why she often brings me a sandwich at about 9 a.m.

It's pretty sweet actually, she gets up a little earlier every morning to make me a tomato mozarella sandwich even though she is vegan and doesn't enjoy breakfast that much either. Shuri...

The thought about her makes me smile as I stretch and slip on my white crop top paired with a brown skirt and my Converse. Nakia, Okoye, Ramonda, and pretty much everyone else in Wakanda is obsessed with Mine and Shuris friendship or how they like to call it "situationship." They believe that for the moment we are best friends but in the future they will throw rice on our wedding. I don't mind at all when they bring up their shipping theories or new Shipnames in private with me but not with Shuri in the same room. She is not homophobic or disgusted by love she is just... awkward? Let's call it just Shuri! She gets flustered and disregards the topic as soon as someone brings it up. Even if it was harmless. I don't know how she feels or what she thinks about me. I just know that she is my best friend... my very handsome bestie...that has sexy tattoos, but that is besides the point!

Yes, of course I fell for her. I mean, how could you not. In the beginning, we weren't that close because I am the spiritual auntie in town while she is the engineer smartie. Weirdest combo ever. But in the end, with many convos and a lot of "you need to find friends your age Shuri"s from Ramonda. Bless her. She finally let me in and has ever since never let me go. We do pretty much everything together. While I mix some new tea, she falls asleep in my lab, or I fall asleep on her shoulder while she is working on new improvements. My delulu ass sometimes thinks there is tension or whatever, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

However, let's get to the point of this and how we got here!

I brush my teeth, put on my parfume (that Shuri loves btw) and get on my way. The first thing I hear is a distressed workaholic named Shur.

"No, this needs to go over there Bast!"

"Hey Shuri," her stressed figure turns to me, and she smiles in my direction. after dropping down her weird looking tool, she gives me a long hug, not without complimenting me while rubbing my back in soothing circles.

"You smell so good usana" (told ya) she takes a deep wiff behind my ear where I teasingly placed a huge amount of parfume cause I knew this would happen.

"Why thank you m'lady" we part but I still hold onto her shoulder and I can't surpress a smile cause what I see is like a every day deja vu.

I smooth my finger over her eye brow where big wrinkles found it's way on her forehead.

"That scowl must hurt love, don't ruin your pretty face," and as always, I get the reaction I was hoping for. A sweet lingering smile and a smoothing forehead.

"Hey Sissi" Nakia enters the room and goves me a long hug followed by T'Challa.

"Hey girl you are glowing"

"Same to you girl you look stunning"

T'Challa gives me a sweet smile, and we start chitchatting about god knows what. Okoye eventually joins in, and we all just kind of talk about anything but work. But after some time, more topics came up. I don't even know how it started. I think Nakia was teasing T'Challa about his anti flirting skills, and Okoye brought up that from far away, he used to look like a fish while kissing.

"What are you talking about!"

"It is true, T'Challa, but you got better." He jokingly scowls at his girlfriend but smiles as soon as Nakia gives him a peck.

"Omg, I remember how I caught you two making out in the weaponary room, and you looked like you chocked on some granula." Shuri laughs out loud while telling the story, whike we all laugh with her until-

"What is it with you teasing me Sister, you didn't even have your first kiss yet," he said jokingly, and compared to regular jokes between them, it seemed really harmless, but something in Shuri snapped.

"That's not true!" T'Challa didn't get the hint to shut up, so he was casual about it.

"Your Teddybear doesn't count"

That was enough. Shuri drops her tools and goes out of the room after excusing herself.

Of course, I follow her, and as always, I can find her in front of the blue lake next to the black panther cave.

"Hey you." Shuri turns her head and shamefully looks on the ground.

"Hey"

"What was going on? Are you okay, love?" I sit next to her and nudge her shoulder to show it's okay to talk.

"Yeah, no, i don't know, really,"

"Was it what T'Challa said?"

"It's not like I don't want my first kiss!" She gets up and takes a few laps back and forth before continuing

"I am not perfect, and practice makes better, but what if I suck at it?"

"Suck at what? At something new?" I get up too and take her hands in mine

"Listen, whatever happens, if the other person truly loves you, they don't care, and if they do, then they gotta keep searching. And besides, I didn'thave my first kiss either, and I am more relaxed than ever." I look in her chocolate brown eyes, and she succeeds

"What did I tell you about that frown pretty girl?" I smooth my hand over her brows and she nuzzles her face in my palm.

"Enkosi (Thank you) (Y/N)"

We stayed like that for a little longer until we went back inside

2 weeks later

"(Y/N)!"

Shuri bursts into my room. Panting like crazy and when she finally speaks, I expected everything but this.

"I need to ask you something!"

"Shuri, it is 10 p.m. I could've been sleeping or masturbating!"

At the image of that, Shuri flushes for a second, but enough for you to see it.

"Please don't talk and let me finish"

"Ok ok what is it"

"Do you remember our talk at the river two weeks ago? I couldn't stop thinking about it. Now listen, maybe to get over my fear of messing up. I need to practice...with a person I trust... Do you know what I mean??"

I look at her completely baffled with a hint of anticipation and desperation, and who would I be not to say

She taked my face in her hand and walked closer to me while putting her other hand on my waist. My hands are really sweaty, but I manage to grasp her elbows, and I look deep into her anxious eyes. I can hear both our hearts pounding so fast that I think it's not healthy and I can smell her. She is so beautiful it breaks my heart, but I can't wait. She licks her lips one last time before slowly getting closer to my face. I can feel her warm breath on my nose, and she closes her eyes. I do the same. And our lips collide. It's so weird that feeling is like you are on drugs. You don't hear, you don't see you, just completely feel the moment. Her lips are softer than pillows, and when she lightly whimbers, I can't take it anymore.

We part, and the first thing I notice is her silly little scowl. Wordlessly, i smooth it down, and she crashes our lips together again. But this time, it is stronger and hungrier. I get cocky and bite down on her lower lip so I can kiss it better in a silent apology. I moan into her mouth, and our tongues are in a erotic battle to fight for dominance. I win and grab her by her curls. My reward is a louder whine for more, and I start kissing down her neck. I kiss every spot until...

As the first chenle stan (top delulu gf right here), he is definitely a physical touch and words of affirmation girly.

He’s come home finally after so long while being on tour and doing promotions and such for ISTJ, it’s like you haven’t seen him in forever. You’ve had probably the worst day ever where your hair didn’t look right, you couldn’t do this or that right, and most of all you’re not with Chenle.

Right after everything was done he wanted to surprise you by just showing up to your (and his) apartment.

“Y/N? Baby? We’re home!” He calls out, holding Daegal in one hand and his bag over his shoulder.

Chenle’s surprised when he doesn’t see you in the kitchen, usually you’re eating or making your food this late. He looks around the living room also seeing your not in that room either. Finally putting down Daegal telling her to ‘go find your mommy/mummy’

Not even a few seconds later she’s running to your bathroom door, scratching and whining. Even rubbing her head against the door before running back to Chenle, yipping and whining once again to the door. Obviously he takes the hint and knocks on the door.

“Are you in there? Daegal and I are back, she missed you. After our calls she would start whining….” You can hear his smile in his voice, “I missed you too you know, even if you are annoying.” Of course he would find a way to say something like that. It makes you crack the faintest smile. You really missed him.

“Hey baby? Can I-?”

You open the door for him before he can even finish his sentence. Daegal is in his arms and he’s smiling at you, jokingly shaking her paw and mocking what’s supposed to be her voice ‘hiiii mom, I missed you soooo much’ .

If he wasn’t your boyfriend and if you were in a better mood you probably would’ve joked about it. Saying something about how stupid he was or even pushing him away. Instead you settle for pulling her into your own arms petting and hugging her and placing her right beside you on the floor.

As soon as she’s put on the floor Chenle pulls you into the biggest hug ever. He doesn’t even need to be told you’re not feeling very well. He says that you’re easy to read, in reality he pays attention extremely well.

“You’re okay, I promise. Whatever you’ve been thinking I need you to stop for a second and rethink.” His arms pull you even closer to himself, and they start moving up and down your back. Tears start to well in your eyes and you realize just how much he means to you.

Eventually he pulls you back so he can see your face, even bringing his hands to your arms holding them there letting his thumbs rub your arms.

“I love you,” He kisses your forehead.

“I love you,” He kisses your nose.

“I love you so so much,” And he ends with pulling you into a kiss. When he finally pulls away he brings you once again into a tight embrace.

You’re not all of a sudden happy and healed, but you sure do feel better with him by your side.

“…Now why did our child get a hug before me.”

“Zhong. Chenle.”

so many things to say fr first, ally is basically my soulmate 🥺🫂 like hyunjae who fits in any kind of story scenario, i believe that our shared interests and thoughts led to this awesome, cool and dynamic friendship ❤️‍🔥 it's crazy that suddenly one follow, led to another, to a reblog (to me fangirling once again), to me posting something, to ally commenting 💬 to her closing the gap 📮 and messaging me 📥 after. it's just so wild to think about and i really tend to ponder and think about stuff like origins of friendships quite often. if it wasn't for ally, i most probably would have never met anyone in this post. if i did meet them (which yk, i would like to believe i would have either way), i think it would've happened way further in the future. i love everyone here so much and i think i would have missed out on a lot if ally didn't basically pull me out of my shell 🐚 hyunjae (from what i see) can go to very mischievous, then supportive and then loveable—to me that's just ally ❄️🥺💓 ally, i am forever thankful that somehow God said "they're on the opposite ends of the world? let them be friends anyways!" 🥹

other than the fact that's moni is in love with jacob 🍐, moni also gives me parent vibes 2.0. 🫂 i didn't know moni much until quite recently (and i remember commenting on how i love their fic 😍 and ran out after 🏃‍♀️💨) but time matched up once again and they were part of a group that i managed to open up to straightaway. i actually made a mistake towards moni and i apologised, and they were so understanding ❤️‍🩹 (thank you so much for that btw moni if you're reading this) to the point i slept well after 💤 moni can also go from nods and understanding hums to very chaotic energy 🍻 which is a bit of what i see in jacob whenever he's around some members 🤭 love that for them seriously 😚
