"Queen of Thorns"

Yeh more art of the Kasikah ver of Phen 228. But this time I drew on paper. (Aka the weird line art thing from yesterday)

Anyway uh... context, in Kasi's SV Lore, they are refered to as the Queen of Thorns (& a mother of many children) also bcs Phen kinda has a crown of Thorns in the original image, so, why not make this drawing. (Not on digital tho bcs I'm unmotivated to draw on digital as hell)

I kinda made this bcs I wanted to bcs the 'Mother Phen" AU takes place in SV. (While not really Canon to it, it's kinda of a goof AU I made up bcs in its clear that, Phen is NOT A MOM NOR A QUEEN OF A CULT nor is Kasikah a demonic entity that consumes yur spine & makes have locked in syndrome)

Hey guys! I hope you’re having a lovely May so far! I for one am not 😭, schools wrapping up soon so they’re really going hard on us and finals are coming up so yay 🥲, BUT that also means summer is right around the corner!! I’m so excited for literally everything summer-clothes, beach, hot weather, more reading, ice cream, more reading…you get the point..

Anyways, I wanted to update you guys on my reading so far. I recently actually earlier today, just finished Silver Kingdom by Arabella Rosier. It is the second book in a trilogy so highly recommended dreading Silver Valley before progressing to this one. So I finished it a few hours ago, and I really really enjoyed it. There was a lot lot more world building and plot occurring in this book compared to the first which is pretty common in second books, but I did enjoy all of it and it seemed purposeful and not just out in there for nothing yk.. um and all of the characters, ong just kill me rn 😭😭 ugh they’re written so so well, and I absolutely adore they’re personalities…and Jesse, don’t even get me started, ADORE HIM, But the ending of this book was slightly confusing personally for me, this tends to happen sometimes when I read books for the first time but I will be rereading the book just to process it..BUT THE CLIFFHANGER HELLO!??, this cannot be happening, anyways I think it’s safe to say that I am estatic for the third book to be published so I can get my hands on it and devour the absolute shit out of it :)

Oh and yes I haven’t forgotten about all this twisted glory, I’m currently in the process of waiting for the book to get of my holds list from my library

I was thinking about a post about how Malleus Tsum stayed and kept watch over Silver Tsum while it slept. I was just thinking about what if Malleus actually does that and Silver just doesn’t know.

I imagine it would have started when Silver was young, and Malleus would occasionally stop by the cottage. Silver would be playing outside with the forest creatures and then suddenly be asleep. Malleus, not exactly knowing what to do, figured that leaving a weak human child unattended in the woods was probably not great, so he just silently watched close by.

And Malleus keeps doing it even after Silver grows up because he knows Silver is strong and can defend himself. But when Silver sleeps, he can’t defend himself; he’s totally vulnerable (not that the forest creatures would ever harm him, but still). There have been a couple of instances where a bear wanders close, and Malleus thinks he has to intervene, but it just ends up cuddling next to Silver, and Malleus is left there, wondering, “Is this normal? This doesn’t feel normal.”

Silver never sees this because Malleus always keeps his distance and leaves as soon as Silver wakes up because Lilia says that Silver is at that age where he should be “independent” or whatever that means. He’ll at least keep it a secret because he doesn’t want to embarrass the boy when Silver is technically supposed to be protecting him.

Things get interesting when Silver enrolls in NRC because the woodland creatures would never harm Silver. The students at NRC? Harm physically? Meh, maybe if Silver was sleeping in someone’s path to class. Trick, prank, and steal stuff? Most definitely.

Silver doesn’t seem to understand that other people may not have the best intentions, and falling asleep on campus with all his school stuff next to him is not the best idea. Especially in a school where the students are known to have less-than-stellar moral compasses. Not that he can help it, of course. Once he feels sleepy, he’s down.

During the first couple weeks of his first year, some students try to prank Silver or take his stuff when he is asleep. However, when they try, they feel a shiver of dread when Malleus fucking Draconia appears right behind them, asking them what they think they’re doing.

Malleus wasn’t planning on harming any of said students. Intentionally. He knows better than that, at least. But his reputation precedes him, and he scares the would-be perpetrators shitless, so it becomes common knowledge around the school not to mess with a sleeping Silver unless you want to be at the receiving end of Malleus’s glare.

Silver doesn’t know this is happening and thinks NRC is safe and filled with kind students. Malleus swears he will never say a word about this to Silver, and Lilia knows and thinks it’s hilarious.

Sebek does not know this occurs at all and will run around looking for Malleus until he finds Silver. He demands that Silver wake up to help look for him and Malleus decides that he can stay hidden for a couple of minutes more as his retainers now run around looking for him.

Tldr: NRC students know better than to mess with Silver when he’s asleep because there is a non-zero chance that an unamused Malleus will show up and make you piss yourself

Silver Vanrouge, Knight of Evening Dawn

A small fan-comic based credit song « Clockwork Quick and Lightning Slow (A Spell to make all things well) » from Ancient Magus Bride’s OVA Those Awaiting a Star. The eerie and unusual but yet peacefulmelody, along with the fairy lullaby like lyrics, reflected the journey of Silver Vanrouge through Book 7 and his relationship with his family.

I don’t know why but there is somethings between Diasomnia and the Ancient Magus Bride (both manga and anime). Both stories talk are about the relation between humans and fairies(and others supernatural/no-humans beings), about healing inner wounds: the ones of a close friends or family members, a totally stranger or a simple neighbor, or the ones deep inside ourself… but also about how life is precious as well as family, ours relationships and connections with others.

We don't really discuss enough that there was other fae in the side of the humans during the conflict with Briarland/ Briar Valley. We know Briar Valley is a land of nocturnal fae. And we know that the fairies that were helping Dawn Knight and Leah were Diurnal fae. Literally Night vs Day.

We don't know what these particular fairies motivations were for helping them. They could have been bound to serve them even if it was reluctant. They could have been their friends who believed they were right and justified from their perspective. They could have just hated nocturnal fae. We don't know. But I think these are all interesting concepts that could be explored.

And on another note, if Briar Valley is a land of mostly nocturnal fae and few humans. Is there a land somewhere else in Twisted Wonderland that is the opposite? A land of Diurnal fae that has always been open and friendly to humans, that is beloved by the world over while the other is isolated? Food for thought.

I Need a briar valley hometown event where the fairies are just muddy old guys with long beards unapologetically causing mischief for whoever comes along..like how the daoine sidhe are presented in the film ‘song of the sea’, very much with Lilia’s behaviour to me 😭 like it would be so fun if briar valleys culture was translated through Irish myth, having festival activities like ‘ dance until you drop- winner gets a glass of milk for house protection!’ Etc.. or if the group attending the hometown event get baffled by how unruly trading is, like ‘give me your firstborn child for this sack of wheat’ is a completely normal deal to make in briar valley. Or if silvers strange endearing vibes get skyrocketed when all the fair folk treat him like their childhood play mate, much like aurora and the fairies in live action maleficent..

Tbh in the chance we do get a briar valley event it’s gonna be so interesting to see what sort of culture it holds, there are too many connections to Irish myth for it to not be Irish to me but that could also just be my autistic pattern recognition sabotaging me 😭😭 another route would be French, from where sleeping beauty is set however I’m not really sure how that would fit with history of briar valley (moreso that a major part of Celtic myth comes from the literal ‘book of invasions’) and French fairies present quite differently than Irish ones- where I believe the latter is more fitting of how briar valley is portrayed (see the tuatha dé / tuatha dé danann)

Malleus Draconia

The local wizard! He’s a big enigma to the townspeople and people either hate him or love him! (Not true, literally only Leona and Diasomnia feel that strongly for him)

Not much is known about magic in this world and it’s said only fae and their descendants are capable of wielding it.

Lives in the forest in a tower that houses two very well maintained gargoyles. 

When you receive a letter from him about the junimos he adds that you should get gargoyles too for a better drainage system…

In this universe I think you would already know who he is from the get go but he won’t tell you his name so you nickname him Tsunotaro/Hornton anyways.

Is very close to Lilia, Sebek and Silver! Lilia raised him, he half raised Silver and Sebek is his apprentice! (He took him in out of fondness)

He’s actually a descendant of fae royalty from a fallen kingdom ages old but now he’s living at NRV.

He’s very lonely and was very glad to hear a little farmer with no knowledge of his reputation had moved in.

And yes, stone is a liked gift for him-

Lilia Vanrouge

The owner and leader of the adventurer’s guild! Started it with Baul who is currently in the Skull Caverns.

Is actually fae and a powerful wizard but nobody in town knows, they just think he’s this weird kid who’s really good with the sword.

Lives in a little cottage in the woods with his son Silver who he took in when he was but a babe.

Malleus was living with them before but had to move out cuz his cauldrons and bookshelves were taking up too much space. They still live very close by though so he brings food over whenever he cooks! (Malleus teleports to ten different locations and Lilia follows)

.He’s considering retiring from his position at the adventurers guild and passing it onto Silver.

He has been training Silver and Sebek in the art of swordsmanship since they were young.

He’s in a band with Cater and Kalim, he plays the bass! Occasionally travels to the city for concerts!

Is often found at his cottage or at the adventurers guild!

A knight in training, learning swordsmanship from Lilia! 

A lot of Lilia’s training consists of going down into the mines and freestyling so he picks up requests from the bulletin board often to hit two birds with one stone. Lilia banned him from going down alone after his first time passing out though…

Often passes out in the middle of the day and sometimes wakes up to see Ortho charging him 50 gold…

He’s a good friend of the animals in NRV and sometimes visits Kalim’s ranch to see them! He’s also the one who found the cat/dog that becomes your companion!

I feel like he has a mini garden near his cottage too! He bans Lilia from entering.

Goes horse racing with Sebek and Riddle every sunny Monday!

Is often found at his cottage, in the mines or taking a nap on a tree near town square.

Sebek Zigvolt

A half-fae who’s the proud apprentice of the great wizard! 

Lives with his parents, older brother and older sister and is childhood friends with Silver! Lilia basically sees him as another son with how often he’s around.

His father works as a dentist in town and his mother is an adventurer!

His family goes on fishing trips often.

Is able to use magic due to being half fae but the village doesn’t wanna give him the respect that deserves cuz he’s such a loudmouth…

He also still trains with Silver and Lilia regularly!

Goes horseback riding with Riddle and Silver every sunny Monday but is actually deathly afraid of horses…
