Metroid Movie/TV Series Style Options, from most to least likely, because I have brainrot
- Live action with a more 'realistic' sci-fi aesthetic, probably leaning into the Alien influence. Could be really good, especially as a way to honor that inspiration, but could easily fall flat. Most likely to actually happen, but my least favored. If this is the route taken, I just hope it wouldn't go the way of the Halo Paramount show.
- CGI Animated with style and rendering pretty similar to the games, particularly Prime and Dread. The most simple and sensible option and so also very likely, but also a tad boring just because the games are already doing that.
- Live-action tokusatsu show. Not trying for 'realism' so much as coolness, and just really embracing Samus as a Kamen Rider. Maybe not my preferred option, but I would still love to see it just for the uniqueness of the vibes.
- The sort of in-between compromise between 'realism' and tokusatsu approaches to live-action (plus some very obvious CGI) that characterized the Prime and Fusion commercials. Not very likely at all, and would probably not land as well as just leaning fully into one direction or the other, but it would be a fun and unique approach to see, especially if it has the same sort of blend of genuine moody atmosphere and cheesy tryhard edginess as those commercials.
- 2D Animation, Genndy Tartakovsky directing. Would be super cool and stylized, and probably absolutely nail the atmosphere and indirect narrative style best, but I think outside of that one Clone Wars series, the man prefers to work on his own original projects.
- 2D Animation; just a straight-up Metroid Anime. Not impossible, but tbh probably even less likely just because while it's niche over here, my understanding is that Metroid is ironically not really successful at all in Japan itself. Nintendo has called on western developers for basically every game since Fusion for a reason, and so while they could probably call up Studio Trigger or someone to make it happen, I don't think there's too much inclination to take that route. (Especially if Zelda, the way more anime-plausible series, is being given to Hollywood as is.) But it would be pretty cool.
- That specific fucking excellent blended style that characterized the late 90s and early 00s in animated movies. A mix of like, CGI and Rotoscoping and 2D Animation, Mike Mignola influenced character designs, the works. Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Spirit, The Iron Giant, Titan AE, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, Sinbad, Road To El Dorado, Tarzan, Emperor's New Groove, Brother Bear, ect. A throwback to the Animation Golden Age IMO, basically. (In particular, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, and Lilo & Stitch having the most direct visual comparison/inspiration.) This would be an utterly perfect style for Bionicle, but work slightly less well for Metroid, admittedly, just given the vibe favors grandiosity more than eeriness, and I also don't expect it to happen at all in the first place. But I want it SO MUCH.

Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!
Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!
What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. I'm undecided on whether to do this for only one round or the whole bracket, as it would make the tournament very long. Do let me know if you have any opinion about it.
Anyway, Revenge of the Underrated, Round 1:

It’s still Thursday but I’m getting in line now for my Friday Fun Fact!
GET IN LINE AND YE SHALL BE REWARDED! Today You Learned about the Roc/Rukh!
Tumblr media
Rene Bull's illustration.
In Middle-Eastern mythology, the roc is a big, massive, so-big-it-eats-elephants-what-the-fudge bird. It appears in 1001 Nights, notably in the story of Sinbad, and other folklore stories.
Marco Polo mentions it in his book chronicling his travels. He doesn't claim to have seen one, but he describes it as a giant bird from the south that hunts elephants by picking them up and dropping them to smash them to pieces, and ensures you know that it's something different from a griffin. According to him, the Mongol Emperor sent people to Madagascar to investigate, and they returned with a giant feather (Wikipedia claims that it was likely the branch of a Raffia palm tree).
Tumblr media
An 1865 illustration of a hatching roc egg.
In the years since, people have tried to come up with a rational explanation for the roc, like that it was inspired by a prehistoric bird, or the ostrich, or something or another. I don't know; strikes me as a bit silly, if you ask me. To me, it's just a cool mythological bird that shows up in literature sometimes.
You may notice that one shows up in Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke, or in Baudelino by Umberto Eco. In Dragonology, I think it's specifically mentioned that the wyvern inspired stories of the roc, though Monsterology I think canonizes rocs as actually existing?
Anyway! I hope you didn't know this Fun Fact!

I had an idea for quite a while...
So, I was incredibly inspired by @seaslugfanclub Disney Villains/ y/n park assistant concept, so I thought something.
What if there was another company (generic name supposedly) that to go against this incredible idea of the Disney Parks to make the Villains turn into actual people decided to do the same thing with non- Disney Villains as well?
And this other y/n had to take care of them, because they are also very chaotic without a lead of some kind?
The Villains i had in mind for this headcanon series are: Rasputin from Anastasia, Eris from Sinbad the Legend of the Seven Seas, Rothbart from Swan Princess, Thrax from Osmosis Jones, Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians, Mok Swagger from Rock and Rule, maybe the Kung Fu Panda Villains (Tai Lung, Lord Shen and Kai), also the Shrek villains? I'm still undecided tho
They could also interact with the Disney Villains as well, and make up cool scenarios too!
Let me know what you think <3

[A3!] ★ Main Story | Act 14 - DREAM CATCHER | Episode 29 - Water me!! ~The Promise of Year 333~
Tumblr media
Scheherazade: “Ali Baba, the oil jar is empty.”
Ali Baba: “Ah, I forgot. I’ll fill it up.”
Scheherazade: “Ali Baba, and while you’re at it, get some water, go shopping, and clean the carpets.”
Ali Baba: “That’s NOT just a ‘while you’re at it’ kinda thing!”
Scheherazade: “Ali Baba--.”
Ali Baba: “What is it now!?”
Scheherazade: “Something weird just arrived.”
*Paper airplane chases Ali Baba*
Tumblr media
Ali Baba: “Uwhoa, what’s with this giant paper airplane, it’s-- Stop following me!”
Scheherazade: “There’s something written on it. Hmm… An invitation?”
Ali Baba: “‘I am pleased to announce that I, the Genie of the Lamp, will be hosting my momentous 333rd birthday party.’”
Ali Baba: “‘Therefore, I would like to invite you, Ali Baba, and your wife, Scheherazade, to attend--.’”
Scheherazade: “‘Will Attend’ is already circled where it says [Will Attend / Will Not Attend].”
Ali Baba: “He even crossed out the ‘Will Not Attend’. The Genie of the Lamp sure is thorough.”
Scheherazade: “What are we going to do?”
Ali Baba: “Well, he has done a lot for us, so why don’t we go?”
Scheherazade: “We’ll have to prepare a gift for him then.”
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Genie of the Lamp: “Welcome to my momentous 333rd birthday party!”
Scheherazade: “Happy birthday.”
Ali Baba: “I mean, sure, the numbers are repeating, but don’t you think calling it ‘momentous’ is a bit much?”
Genie of the Lamp: “No, I’ve been waiting for this year for some time now.”
Scheherazade: “Ah, here, your birthday present. It’s an anti-fogging cloth for lamps.”
Ali Baba: “And from me, here’s a brush that can clean even the narrowest part of the lamp’s opening.”
Tumblr media
Genie of the Lamp: “My friends! Thank you for the practical gifts!”
Sinbad: “So you two came too.”
Ali Baba: “Sinbad, it’s been a while.”
Scheherazade: “When you found Ali Baba and the magic lamp, you got a boat from the Genie as your share, right? I figured you’d be away on a trip or something.”
Sinbad: “I wanted to be as prepared as possible, so it took me quite some time. But I’ll finally be setting sail tomorrow.”
Ali Baba: “Then congrats on that! Sinbad the Sailor sounds way cooler than Sinbad the Bag Carrier, doesn’t it~?”
Sinbad: “I didn’t choose it for its coolness. I just thought I could do a wider range of work if I had a boat.”
Genie of the Lamp: “Then let us celebrate your departure as well!”
Scheherazade: “As well?”
Genie of the Lamp: “It had been 333 years since I lost against the wizard and became trapped in the lamp… It’s finally time for me to be free from the lamp.”
Genie of the Lamp: “After 333 years, my contract with the wizard can be dissolved. That’s why I intend to go find the wizard.”
Ali Baba: “So that’s why this is a momentous year.”
Scheherazade: “That’s great.”
Genie of the Lamp: “Quite.”
Tumblr media
Aladdin: “Uwahhhh, Genie of the Lamp~!!”
Genie of the Lamp: “Hm?”
Ali Baba: “Isn’t that Aladdin?”
Sinbad: “What’s wrong?”
Aladdin: “You’re not gonna believe it! There was this weird wizard that came outta nowhere and stole my darling Honey AND my castle!”
Ali Baba: “What!? That’s horrible. You should do something about it, Genie of the Lamp.”
Scheherazade: “And by ‘Honey’ do you mean the girl you asked the Genie to get you a date with?”
Sinbad: “She’s actually the princess of a neighboring country, seems like he’s the one marrying for the money.”
Genie of the Lamp: “That’s unfortunate, however, due to things related to my contract with the wizard, once I grant a wish, the person I grant it to can never be my master again.”
Genie of the Lamp: “And I can’t help people who aren’t my master.”
Aladdin: “UWA~HHH!”
Scheherazade: “Regardless, you need to get her back somehow, don’t you?”
Aladdin: “Snnfnsnf… Yeah… You’re right… But that wizard’s so scawy…”
Scheherazade: “The hell did you just say? Think about how much more scared your wife must be. Just get your ass moving already.”
Aladdin: “R-Right! Yeah! I’ve gotta save my Honey…!”
Ali Baba: “I’ll go with you.”
Aladdin: “For real!?”
Ali Baba: “If we’re talking about a wizard, then maybe he knows something about the fantastical paradise oasis.”
Scheherazade: “You still haven’t given up on that yet? Whatever. I’m worried about his wife too, so I’ll come along.”
Genie of the Lamp: “If you’re going on a journey, I’ll come with you. Or rather, I’ll have you take me with you.”
*The Genie of the Lamp jumps*
Ali Baba: “Hey, don’t just get into my bag without asking.”
Sinbad: “I mean, he did say he was going to look for the wizard. It’s not like he can do that alone.”
Genie of the Lamp: “Right now, I’m the one trapped in the lamp. I’m not able to move freely.”
Ali Baba: “Alright then, we’ll depart tomorrow morning. We’ll all meet up at Sinbad’s ship in the port.”
Tumblr media
Sinbad: “What!? Why my ship!?”
Ali Baba: “You can’t go on an adventure without something to take you.”
Aladdin: “Thanks so much, SinSin!”
Sinbad: “Urgh~...”
Izumi: (Everyone’s so calm and in control that you’d never know about the chaos that was going on backstage.)
Izumi: (Compared to how things were back during their debut, they’ve all really become more dependable.)
Izumi: (They’re all even more comfortable with their roles than they were back then, and everyone’s individual characters are being conveyed in a way that is easy to understand.)
Izumi: (And above all, everyone seems to be having fun, which just makes it that much more fun to watch.)

Is there any fairytale you think would have been cool to see in neverafter that wasn't mentioned?
Fairytales never really were my thing- I was very much a nonfiction kid. When Brennan said he'd sit under tables and read animal facts? Same.
It's not, like, a classic fairytale, but if you're going horror, Ella Enchanted has so much potential.
I also just wish things had gone such that we'd gotten more of Scheherazade and Sinbad.

I don't know if you've been asked this before but what shows or pieces of media influenced/inspired Beanstalked? I know you've mentioned Gitter and Guilt stemmed from your love of Tokyo mew mew and other cool superhero stuff (I saw those mha ocs!). But can you point to any specific shows or books that made you want to create that story in the first place, or changed it to where it is today since it's been rewritten?
FUCK YEAH A BEANSTALKED QUESTION
I think the series at the top of the list that deeply inspired Beanstalked are Cats Don't Dance, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, Bleach, D. Gray Man, Soul Eater, and Kingdom Hearts,
Cats Don't Dance's entire thing of being about an outcasted group of characters forcing their way into the spotlight, or basically finding their own happiness, def influenced the main motivation for a lot of the main characters in Beanstalked going against the status quo of both their stories and the depressing situation of the world they live in.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas have so many elements in them that imprinted on me as a kid. Like both movies having a crew of side characters that have very vibrant personalities that lead to them becoming sort of found families. And the latter having a villainess that quite literally is the reason I made Nevermore the way she is.
Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child was basically my first exposure to fairy tale retellings with more diversity and was basically the extra motivation to make basically everyone in Beanstalked POC. And I'd say it being a series made in the 90s def impacted some of the vibes I resort to when looking for Beanstalked inspiration stuff like music instead of the expected medival fantasy.
D. Gray Man, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater all had an influence on me deciding to make Marchens unique magical weapons that range from being a typical weapon like a sword to more extreme instances like a whole element or even a location. Plus them all having a large cast of characters was what led to me deciding to have a big cast for Beanstalked.
I know for certain that the Noahs and Arrancars are what made me go for having the Big Bads in Beanstalked be the typical "we sit at a big ass table and plot evil things" but with some coworker banter tossed in like they do in D. Gray Man, which remains like...the only anime where I've seen the villains poke at each other like a family (granted they kinda are but this is about Beanstalked and not a very underrated manga series so lemme refocus).
And Kingdom Hearts will always be one of my favorite vibes just because of how cool the Heartless looked as monster designs. They definitely are what made me think of how fun it'd be to make the ink monsters in Beanstalked parasitic creatures that adapt to their surroundings. And the "book rooms" in Beanstalked are greatly inspired by the opening tutorial level of Kingdom Hearts where you awake in a void on a stained glass platform.
Plus Traverse Town remains one of my favorite locations in all of gaming and is the direct influence and inspiration for Briar Patch being the hub of Beanstalked. I constantly listen to the music whenever I have to design Briar Patch stuff.

Imagine if Sonic Team made a game similar to the storybook games, but where Sonic enters a classic movie instead. Which movies would you like to see used? Let's say one public domain movie and one copyrighted movie.
Something I drew many many years ago, we'll say around 2009 or 2010, was the idea that Sonic would enter a western.
Tumblr media
It was based on two things:
I think Sonic in cowboy boots is a fun mental image
A lasso could be more fun than a sword.
I didn't have any specific western in mind or even any specific storybook in mind, I was just spitballing based on vibes alone. But Sonic the Hedgehog as "The Man with No Name" could be interesting.
Like right away I imagine Sonic is getting suspicious why he keeps getting transported into all these stories so he refuses to give his name in this one, and thus he earns that title and tries to feel his way around and figure out what's going on.
Unfortunately I am not well versed in public domain movies, outside of the usual suspects: Night of the Living Dead, House on Haunted Hill, Carnival of Souls, etc. I know there's a lot of silent-era (and early "talkies") comedy that's public domain now, too. But I dunno how well Sonic would fit there.
For a moment I realized those old classic Popeye cartoons are public domain, including the one where he fights Sinbad, but we already had Sinbad in Secret Rings. Which is a shame, because Sinbad goes on a lot of adventures and it would adapt into a game easily.
The movie itself isn't public domain, but Sonic in Clash of the Titans would be fun. That's my brain making a leap because The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad had special effects by Ray Harryhausen, who also handled Clash of the Titans. Sonic helping Perseus and fighting greek gods would be kind of cool. His friend roster would slot in well there, too.

Ur so cool and I love ur artstyle, it’s so unique and pretty. How long have u been drawing? Also if u only had one show or movie to watch forever and that’s it what would it be?
Thanks✨️
Ahh...since always I think. I used to be on DeviantArt (I wasn't very good lmao) then at 20 I decided to be more serious and really learn. Or at least try. In 2018 I joined twitter then a year later I was in art school and it greatly improved my level. I graduated in 2021 but I never stopped studying. I still have troubles with the basics and my anatomy skills could be better (let's not mention my awful colours) but I do try, everyday to learn something new but first and foremost always have fun with art. Because if you're not enjoying what you're doing, what's the point ?
(Drawing your favs does help👁👁)
You're asking me the tough questions. There are too many I'd love to bring in the afterlife lmao 📼 there are the obvious ones : The Mummy, PotC, Anastasia, Buffy, Hunter x Hunter, Arcane...
Then there are these : Little Shop of Horrors (you loved the Muses in Hercules ? Alan Menken did that already in that movie !) Shawshank Redemption, Mousehunt (okay, if you want to know what kind of slapstick comedy I love, this is the one. And it's directed by Gore Verbinski 💀small world!) The Nanny, Paulie the Parrot (instant tear-jerker. I still have the VHS) Kill Bill, Resevoir Dogs, Robocop, The Fly, Dogma, Starship troopers (hilarious), Galaxy Quest (oh...Alan Rickman) Jumanji, Mathilda, Sisters Act, The Devil wears Prada, The princess's diaries, The Grand Budapest Hotel...(and all the action movies I watched thanks to my father) let's not forget the animated movies that deserved better and changed my brain chemistry : Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Sinbad...
And there's more. The thing is, that question is so difficult to answer. It's like asking me what's your favourite color ? I simply can't just pick one...I love green and yellow but we also need orange and purple and blue ! Movies are like colours and I just need as many shades as possible in my life, otherwise I'd get bored ! I don't know if I'm making sense 🥴
So in conclusion, I just can't make up my mind 🐀
