I could make a mini essay about their little costa del sol arcade "date"

The two employees that handed cloud the ticket knew what they were doing, right? Barret walked past them a few minutes earlier and they gave him a ticket too. I like to think they matched the two up on purpose.

The whole interaction felt like the perfect set up for a cute little fic aagh

Also ,this might just be me, but the barret version of the arcade shooting game felt more engaged. He genuinely sounds invested, and if you do well, you believe his affirmations because he's an expert at it.

Whereas for aerith, cloud and her are literally playing pretend for the side quest. I know she isn't being fake, but it felt a little lame by comparison. I've got small gripes with that aerith side quest anyway. :P

Delusional Dreamer

I rarely put pen to paper, but when I do, it's like creating a whole new world. Even in my private diary, I can't shake the feeling that someone might stumble upon my thoughts. It's like I'm playing a role rather than being real.

Lately, I've been a bit of a mess—crying like a baby to Mitski tunes, lost in fantasies that reality won't ever match. I used to daydream a lot, but then it hit me—I've become a bit too delusional. I sleep a crazy amount, around 12-13 hours, just to lay in bed, letting my mind wander into an alternate universe.

In this dreamland, I'm not just me. I'm this ideal version, a girl with all the stuff I've always wanted—looks, body, voice, personality. My alter ego is this outgoing goofball, making people laugh, winning hearts with a smile and some eye action. She's carefree, no responsibilities, no money stress. She plans her own adventures, travels the world, and even has a boyfriend who's head over heels.

I spend so much time in this dream that reality feels like a drag. I find comfort in imagining a life where I'm not alone, where friends are there for me, where I don't feel lonely in a crowd. My dream friends are the same as my real friends, but everything just clicks better in this alternate reality.

There are some similarities, sure. We've both lost our moms early on, been burned by first loves, and are stubborn with loving dads. But in my dream, these things don't weigh me down. Instead, I get to enjoy the fantasy of a carefree existence, even if just for a little while.

I just watched the ff7 rebirth date scenes

Predictably the friend dates had me giggling and cheering and kicking my feet

Whereas the tifa and aerith ones had me going: aw that's nice :|

Wich was also predictable

Spoiler talk under the cut

•The yuffie one especially had me cheering it was so precious and lively

I felt like they where relating a little bit to eachother wich was very sweet

•The nanaki one had me going awww it was more quiet and thoughtful and THE PAW SHAKE THE BEANS

•The barret one played out nearly exactly as I imagined it was uncanny

Barret telling cloud to stop overthinking his relationships and just be honest was exactly the sentiment I had thought of

It also had this refreshing groundedness to it, relative to the more comedic or *nervously glances away while tucking hair behind ear* moments in the others

I liked the continuation of the barret sunglasses motif and also THE PUN "in-kweh-dible" :D

Also one of a couple of barret wife mentions. She's real!

• The cait, cid and Vincent one was a surprise and a funny one

I like them showing cait being a bit more isolated around the time he's just about to betray them

•The aerith one was very "aw lovely" genuinely very sweet

•The tifa one actually left me with an irritable pit in my tum wich is a shame :/ it's so unremarkable to me I'm surprised I had a physically negative reaction :P

I think it was the kiss and the amanormativity of it all like

"See? She's the true actual best only option because kissing = romance = best ever possible conclusion"

I think it's just past bad experience with ships that are so popular that they're "basically canon" you can't go two seconds without running into it, even in "gen" works you'll find it, that kind of pairing ugh

So not the thing itself in isolation but rather the meta-textual reactions and attitudes surrounding it
