It's a year today since I got the keys for my flat! I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to be a homeowner, so I want to mark the occasion by giving to people who are without the safety and comfort a home should provide.
Shop Link
My itch store has digital copies of all my books (for half the price of print copies) including several that are now out of print. It is also the only place to get the special digital versions of my goblin zines, which have loads of art and writing you can't get elsewhere!
I hope you'll consider getting some of my silly little books to help an important cause, this felt like the best way to mark the aniversary of getting a home of my own, as I don't have much money to give hopefully donating my shop income will help boost the difference it makes!

At the Gates
Is live on Backerkit now! Please go check it out. When you pledge to the campaign, you gain access to manuscript previews that we release throughout the campaign. The manuscript is fully written. We fund to get money for a traditional print run. So this game is getting made one way or another, but with your help, we can get the book into distribution, get gorgeous deluxe editions printed, and cool swag made!
Tumblr media
You also get to see beautiful art by Mel Uran. And if you fund this, we can also afford some of the other amazing artists that I've been eyeballing who I know can knock out the style of art this game deserves.
Also, also, I will love you forever!

SELF PUBLISHED AND SMALL PRESS AUTHORS: CHECK YOUR AMAZON PAGES
Recently I found out that my book was just gone. Completely wiped from Amazon. My author page said I never published anything. I got word from my publisher that this was a glitch with Amazon and they were working on fixing it. That was three days ago, and my book is not back up.
According to my publisher, small presses (between 200 to 1000 books) randomly had several titles “dropped” from Amazon.
My worry is that this may have also affected self published books that are only sold through Amazon. Please go check and make sure your work is still up. Even if just to make sure.

I am excited to announce my debut chapbook, The Planet of Left Hands. It includes a wonderful introduction by Bob Schofield and several of my favorite poems written for Uut Poetry.
Thank you to Bottlecap Press for featuring my work and for the beautiful cover!
This marks an important moment in my writing career, and a day I didn’t think would ever come. A huge shoutout to my friends, colleagues, and readers for their support. Here’s to more writing!

Next week! Making Books with Virginia Woolf
Tumblr media
Mrs. Dalloway, [Book jacket front and back], Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of English and American Literature, The New York Public Library Digital Collections. 1925.
Join us with the library's Book Arts Studio on the Diag (or in the Shapiro Gallery if it rains!) next Thursday, 12 September at 5p to print your own copy of the first page of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway.
It's widely known that Virginia Woolf was a writer, but she also started a press out of her home with her husband, Leonard, called the Hogarth Press. The couple bought a small letterpress and set it up in their dining room, producing many of Woolf's books, including Mrs. Dalloway. Hogarth Press ran for nearly 30 years before being absorbed by a larger publisher. Having their own press allowed the Woolfs to decide what got published and get it out into the world directly, something still shared by small presses today.
This printing event is being offered in conjunction with the exhibit Mrs. Dalloway and WWI: Home Front and War Front, on display in the Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Room (1st floor, Hatcher Graduate Library) from 3 September until 13 December 2024.
We hope to see you there!

I pulled this book for a project at work and never have I jumped on the Abebooks website so fast to see if there was another copy of a book for sale as I did after I flipped through it.
I have been keeping aquariums for 30 years now, and this will be a great addition to my personal collection of Books About Fish!
“Shallows of the Sea” was printed by Lamar College’s “Blotter Press” in 1966. It contains many lovely silkscreened images of freshwater fish (including many species familiar to the aquarium trade).

I can’t wait for my copy to arrive in the mail!

I am so excited to announce that my full-length poetry book "The Weeds Grow Anyway" is available for preorder. This first edition handmade Iimited run is going to feature a linocut printed soft cover and I will be binding the books at home.
A blurb about the book, by Mallory Everhart:
Nico Wilkinson's debut full-length poetry collection "The Weeds Grow Anyway' is a celebration of that which lies beyond resilience in the face of adversity: audacity. Writing from Colorado Springs amidst a time of anti-trans violence, they examine the relationship of trans people to this world through the lens of nature's relationship to humans. What makes a plant into a weed, something deemed unacceptable to the landscape? The poetry within much like the local flora and trans people who live there is rooted in the experience of queering the inhospitable landscape that is Colorado Springs.
About the book's creation:
Last year I made one hardcover copy of The Weeds Grow Anyway (pictured above) to visualize the manuscript I'd been working on as a real tangible book. In doing so, I remembered just how much lenjoy the bookmaking process. I realized it would be a joy to make these books myself.
I will share the book-making process as I go on my social media, mostly Instagram (and possibly YouTube, coming soon). If you are a poet who would like to learn how to create their own books, follow along and show you how.
This book is made possible by community. By the people I create alongside, the people who support my work, who connect with me about the experiences we have living in this world. It is such a gift to finally be able to share these words with my community, including poems that have been known and loved, and many, many poems that have never been seen before. I can't wait for you to read them.
The photos of the first hardcover handmade book above are by my friend Corri Mercy.
