A smallportal tore open, in the skies above Japan, a small black blob fell out of it as the portal closes. rafe has been a disappointment from before he was even born, but not in the ways you’d think. his mother has always adored him, it was the relatives beyond her that looked down upon her and her unborn child, as he was conceived out of wedlock and in the lorente family, that was unacceptable. it very quickly landed marisol the black sheep title of the family, and when rafe was born, she was outcasted with her brand new infant son.

from there, the two of them moved around a lot. not only was marisol doing this on her own considering rafe’s father bailed, she was young as well. she was only seventeen when she had him, and with no smallport from her family, it was a rough go of things. having rafe for a son probably did not help things much, as his antics started young.  

even as a child, he would demand attention, without really intending to. he just. . . did. he made sure his presence was known in any room or space he entered, and would accept no less. the drugs were found as a teenager, pure curiosity at first but that was just the gateway. it was not long until he was entirely addicted to even the worst of them, but he kept it all from his mother, of course. within only a few years into doing the drugs himself, he was dealing them.

rafe has been living in st. landry’s for the past ten ish years, and he and his mother have set roots in the city. it’s the first place they’ve really felt at home, and where they have made friends and family from whom they wish not to part. some fo those family friends happen to be linked up within the kelley family but that did not stop rafe from dealing out his business on their territory.

in his defense, it was the building of a kelley affiliate, not one of them directly. however, that did not matter much to the kelleys. when he was found out to be dealing and profiting on their turf, being a family friend was the only thing that kept rafe from being made an example, or turned in to the cops. the member who found them figured it would be more beneficial to keep him close and on their pay roll than to have some kid tossed in prison.

however, now that hangs over his head and gives the member the upper hand. should they want something done, rafe has little to no choice to comply unless he wants the alternative of being behind bars. a portion of his profits go toward the kelley family and he stays out of jail, it seemed like a fair deal at the beginning. it has since become a little rocky, however, with the drug use fogging up his own mind and the deal feeling like shackles sometimes.
