Happy pride to the Brazilian prime time soap opera that just introduced an asexual character!!! And he's a forty-something year old man!!! Who had no idea the word asexual even existed!!! Even though he had always felt like that!!! And it was treated so well!!! His sister said she didn't understand but that she didn't need to understand to love him!!!
Can you tell I'm crying? Prime time soap opera has basically dictated what Brazilian discuss and embrace since the dawn of television!!! I'm so fucking happy

#my post#p#saw#saw iii#is that how its tagged..idk#as had been the case in the past now ive stared at thjs long enough n fucked around w it so long that i kinda hate it#but im releasing it anyway. into my blog#saw the quote on pinterest n already had the pic of her kneeling by her bed n went hunting for other ones#this is lowkey nothing but i spent time on it so w/e here goes lol#first pics are her being kinda set off by lynn saying john probs doesnt know amandas there#when shes hugging him post surgery i believe (or some other time hes not doin good i forget)#n that rly set her off n i almost included instead of one of those#one right after when john has to kinda call her off to leave lynn alone (i will make dog motif amanda post. one day)#3rd pic seems self explanatory. when we see her little room at the like jigsaw lair it always makes me go :(#knowing she probs lives there w john or wherever hes at yknow#i see her as v isolated besides her connection to john w makes that bond stronger not in a good way necessarily ofc#cuz its. not a good situation for her but like hes all she has kinda thing i think#last pic just had the vibe i was looking for n feels less right than 3rd one but idc now#after the blackmail letter from hoffman so she feels like she has to kill lynn like it said#n that clearly scared her enough shes willing to yknow murder someone even if john wouldnt approve#in the hopes that he doesnt find out she was sorta part of it w jill's miscarriage n assuming he'd want nothing to do w her then#<- there's so much going on at any given time. soap opera franchise i swear#im p sure u dont even find out til a later movie what the letter was abt or from who skdjdk#saw movies love to be like so this thing might not make sense but stick around for a couple more movies n we'll explain#or add context or a new character u didnt know was involved/alive all along#said affrctionately lol its just funny to me

with how little relevance characters often have outside their introduction arc, its genuinely WEIRD how relevant tree constantly is. which is an odd criticism because characters should remain relevant after being established but in warriors it feels like blatant favoritism. i dont even dislike treee and i liked him a lot in tbc but its ODD
Mr. Gas Leak has a very distinct feeling (an odor, if you will) to me. It feels like he became so relevant because people were frustrated that he wasn't doing the Very Special Job they'd invented just for him back in AVoS, so the writing team tried to "respond to criticism" by making him show up all the time.
But like... that wasn't really the heart of the criticism. It wasn't a clamor to bring back Tree specifically. It was frustration that they would set up worldbuilding elements and then forget about them when they became inconvenient.
SkyClan's return, negotiator role, the border guard between the DF and StarClan, voting to oust a leader. We've gotten at least one (sometimes multiple) additions that threaten to shake up the status quo in every modern arc-- and then they're forgotten about or not used to their full potential.
In honesty though, the more he appears, the more I actively dislike him. I thought he was cool at first, I enjoyed the idea that SkyClan was going to bring some new dynamics to the politics at the lake. But every role he's had since his introduction has been insufferable.
I HATED how he absolutely refused to do his job in Squilf's Hope because of personal bias
I can't stand how the Sisters have been willing to help the Clans after their treatment in that book, and the constant narrative derision they get in spite of that
The fact everyone just forgot Tree existed in ASC until Nightheart said something was astonishingly bad writing. If I forgot about a major worldbuilding element like that I would be genuinely embarassed, not cutely lampshading it
Even the way he ended up "helping" when the narrative remembered him was annoying. Like, "Oh right! Having this role just grinds the action to a screeching halt! Instead of the Battle Cats doing Battles, they argue offscreen about things! Wow, this was a terrible idea to begin with!"
There are waaaay worse characters in WC, and I can't bring myself to hate him the same way I hate some others like Gray Wing. But boy, he has found his way down my list of "least liked WC characters."

extremely important question do any buffy fans here actually like angel (the series not the character) because i swear all i see lately is people saying it sucks and they couldn't get through it and it's like you can't ALL be that wrong
#season 1 is i guess a bit slow if you're not into the initial premise#at least the beginning#and yeah the soap opera dramatics of s4 get ragged on for obvious reasons#but 2 and 3 are insane#and 5 is just a lot of fun indespersed with some of the most devastating shit you'll ever watch. great times#angel has some of the best storylines in the entire buffyverse argue with the wall#it's not as solid all the way through as buffy by any means but the heights of angel absolutely rival some of the heights of buffy#doesn't beat them out though but still#also s4 is way better on rewatches is what i've realised#first time i was like. what#but once you know what's actually causing everyone to act like they are it isn't as crazy as it first seems lmao#still a mess and joss whedon must pay for his crimes regarding cordelia#but it's definitely much better still#i just don't understand how you can watch wesley completely unraveling throughout the show and not agree it bangs severely#the father will kill the son????? peak television i don't CARE#also angel gets sooo much darker and adult than buffy it's so interesting!!#and darla... oh my darla.....#most people hate connor when he grows up and thats fair i did too#i still don't love him but i appreciate his character a looot more on rewatches#and from a psychological perspective he's fascinating#he gets a bit of a dawn treatment from audiences i feel like. like you can call them annoying thats fair#but when people claim they're annoying for no reason im like lets look at their lives so far please 😭#anyway. regardless of your opinion on older connor. that initial storyline before and right after he's born#absolutely fucking crazy and also so good#you're telling me you watched darla sobbing being like i won't even be able to remember that i loved it and you felt nothing????#i could go on about this forever probably sorry

✨ recap ✨ (non consensual therapy incoming)
The next morning, Amorè refuses to leave her depression burrito. Sylphi leaves a plate next to her on the floor, and over the course of the next few hours, her hand emerges occasionally from the pile of blankets to snatch some food.
Around noon, Agatha has finally had enough and uses Mage Hand to forcibly evict Amorè from her burrito, scolding her for her undignified conduct. Amorè has still not gotten over the humiliation of the night before and is still snappish at everyone, avoiding all attempts from Sylphi and Diana to ease her out of her funk. Agatha heads upstairs as Sylphi begins to lose her patience and turns the conversation back to Amore’s behavior and fainting spells.
Absolutely fed up with Amorè’s refusal to answer either of them, Sylphi casts Charm Person on her. Amorè fails her saving throw, and is made to spill her guts to Diana and Sylphi against her will.
She admits to being riddled with anxiety about failing Agatha’s test. This woman she didn’t even know existed until a few days ago has the ability to strip her of her family name if she finds her unworthy of it. It terrifies her to know she wasn’t strong enough to pass, and she thinks this is just another strike against her. She admits to having gaps in her memories, and an inkling that she’s forgotten something important, but every time she tries to examine it, she ends up feeling a deep sense of dread. She knows there’s something wrong with her and her family knows it. They act like she should have accomplished something by now, but she can’t find out what it is. She feels alone…She admits that she doesn’t trust Sylphi, and she thinks Diana does not care about her.
Diana confirms that she does care about Amorè before going upstairs, leaving Sylphi to pry deeper into Amorè’s emotional response.
But there are questions Amorè cannot answer, even under the influence of the spell. Her mind draws a blank, and it scares her, so she copes by acting aggressively towards people who draw attention to it. She confesses that she knows everyone around her acts like she’s a ticking time bomb, but she has too much pride to confide in anyone so she just keeps bottling it up. And who even would she confide in? Her parents don’t even seem to notice how much she’s struggling, they don’t even see each other very often.
Sylphi suggests they find a way to monitor her and find out what really happens when these fainting spells happen. She leaves to go ask Agatha about any magic items she may have that may be able to help them, and leaves the spell to fade as she heads up the stairs.
The moment she is no longer in range, icy clarity washes over Amorè as she realizes everything she’s just admitted to. Humiliation washes over her and she begins crying. Actual, ugly crying, that almost has her sinking to the floor in a heap. Birch tries to comfort her, but she gets up, and staggers out of the cottage, slamming the door behind her and heading into the forest.

honestly they should’ve stuck out Willie’s obsession with Maggie era for longer
The deep trauma bonding from the entire first two seasons would’ve been INCREDIBLE build up for that to be a lasting plot line. Like think about it; the entire scenes with Willie just stomping around the house with a shotgun was peak cinema for a show who basically forgot his entire character for 7 months

you: nicholas alexander chavez, the actor from ryan murphy's recent work
me, a mama's girl and daytime tv viewer:
Tumblr media
#text post#general hospital#nicholas alexander chavez#spencer cassadine#sorry i'm still not over my shock at this lol#i remember asking my mom MONTHS ago (she follows general hospital news online) 'hey wheres spencer i havent seen him in awhile?'#'oh his character died off. the actor is doing some netflix show where he plays a murderer'#and you have to understand. i dont consume anything to do w true crime. but to my 63-year-old mother. ryan murphy doesnt exist#so bc of just how self-contained the archaic institution of network soap operas are. i just. idk i didnt assume it was a big role#it didnt register to me that it was the sequel to the dahmer show. is what i am saying. and i never thought about it again#mommy made it sound like he might be coming back bc soap opera characters fake-die all the time#and so i put the thought out of my head until completely independently i was watching a video about monsters: menendez being flawed#and i was like. going absolutely insane w how familiar he looked i was like 'ok i know that man cant be too famous but i KNOW him'#'i know him from something and i know him WELL from something. like whatever hes from is iconic to me'#and then the video creator said his name and i was like THATS INSANE WHERE DO I KNOW THAT NAME??!?!??#it's a name i read in the credits but probably never thought in my head at all bc sorry he's just spencer to me#so i googled it and i was gobsmacked. i was like MOM DIDNT SAY he was gonna be in THIS SHIT!?!?!?#i also do lay my life down on the defense that the cinematography of a prestige netflix drama makes him less recognizable to me#who knew him best under cheap soap opera lighting in basic back and forth dialogue shots. like#i have to be honest i never cared for his looks on gh bc he just kinda looked like too perfect. like he looked like a mannequin#i see it now though i get it#i get why he's very fan editable to the true crime girlies i get it#not that it matters. im just in mourning bc it never occurred to me the spencer era was over. i actually liked his character#i cant tell u why bc he wasnt all that distinguishable from all the other basic dramatic character archetypes. idk it was a good performanc#i cant explain to u what makes a soap opera character distinct while still being completely generic (they all are)#i also liked his relationship w his girlfriend in the show it was cute. he was evil but they were sweet#nicky please come back. im begging u. as your only general hospital era fan who is your age#i dont wanna watch monsters menendez i reeeeeally dont

anytime there's production trivia for something i've actually seen like "& the director didn't tell any of the actors this was going to happen so as to get Not Acted Surprise, from the Actors" it's like that's so funny the way i didn't ever see that part as like wow that seemed so particularly genuine to me compared to other parts of this work or other works in general. but on the other hand there'll be scenes in something where a surprising event occurs around multiple characters and there'll be trivia like "wow the way nobody (else) knew this was going to happen beforehand, in so impactful a scene, that makes sense" and then someone involved will be like that's not true
#different to Beforehand be like okay yeah so there will be an element of surprise within these parameters#like how it's different getting jumpscares in media you can at all expect them & indeed jumping; scared#vs in any format where it is a fully unexpected complete disruption of the Established Conventions / Expectations#like that one's just attacking someone but like it doesn't count anytime you do anything to people if there's no Physical Contact Violence#like spoilers it's just abt consent. even for whatever little things like well actors aren't ppl you try to prank ''real'' reactions out of#or yknow ask that to be Their strategy like well just make the feelings & behaviors Not Acting. in which case everyone will have a bad time#or even when stuff Is supposedly not entirely acting. like unscripted reality things where like behind the scenes is supposed to work#Against whomever is in front of them to like corral them into Situations that they react to as Real. ramp it up until They ramp up &c#watched a movie that was enjoyable enough the other day & good for what it was even supposed to be doing#(which other things deemed more ''objectively'' good do too but w/whatever other elements that make it Worthwhile Art by Contrast)#(stuff that's like so yeah this could be a soap opera / technique of shows/movies considered more ''fluff'' & ''unserious'' but b/c like#the subjects styles characters plotlines &c aren't associated w/things the Fluffy Feelgood Unserious Art is; this is great though#or At Least decided to be ''self aware'' with it & thus using it Savvily vs the Unaware works using it b/c they don't know any better)#anyway & i was like now some acting performances do not feel like ah so Raw Real Genuine lol but yknow. they didn't need to#sure might not be the case in a different work doing different things but in This case it was like i'm getting what i need to get from it#meanwhile even in Any works like on the one hand ethically shouldn't be trying to get ''real'' ''unacted'' shit from Actors / Performers#on the other; firmly secondary hand; that the indeed Pranked(tm) reactions vs acted ones are effectively indistinguishable anyway also#even like mild Good(tm) surprises like; yknow; context needed. does the person know they're getting one. do they like Any surprises#do they have the ability to really trust your intentions re: A Good Surprise as well as you understanding what you'd consider That. & so on

I had this theory about Shinichiro and Izana for awhile. I undoubtedly believe Shin tried to find Izana because of Emma because who'd talk about Izana if not her? Not to mention, he was doing his best to make her feel at home with them when she's still trying to adjust being part of a different family. The thing is I don't think he searched for Izana immediately right after Emma kept telling him about her brother. While exceptionally kind, Shin was still a kid at that time with a ton of responsibilities and whose mother was bedridden in the hospital. Besides none of the adults looked for Izana so why should he? I think the final push for him to find Izana was when his mother died. Grief just does things to us that make us do the most absurd things. Like finding your sister's brother that you had never met before. In a way, it does line up with Shin's character if you consider his backstory. How he found Izana isn't mentioned and probably left out for everyone's interpretation because I don't think it's a matter of how but why. It felt very impulsive of Shin to search for Izana's whereabouts and then show up randomly to his institution one day to tell him he's his big brother—like did he even think about how Izana might take that? He's so young and Izana was too. Shin had good intentions of getting to know him better and he might've been attempting for Izana and Emma to meet. Sadly, everything just didn't turn out well like how it should have :')

I always point out Bunk’d on the list of shows with a terrible finale (since S3 was supposed to be the last but it effectively did kill the quality of the show) but having watched the final episodes of Bunk’d that aired last night, I can now actually reaffirm that its ending is shit.
Because oh my god is it shit.
#Bunk’d#Jessie#disney channel#disney sitcom#Disney#lou hockhauser#Camp kikiwaka#I think I owe The Lion Guard and Jake and the Never Land Pirates an apology for their finales#Don’t get me wrong they’re still absolute garbage but I don’t think I felt as burnt out and empty with those finales as I did with this one#Lou gets a random-ass love interest in the last 2 episodes and they pull a soap-opera style fake-out break up#which is like#I have no reason to care this late into the game#but they also rehash the plotline of the characters possibly separating and Lou wondering if she should stay a camp director#As if we haven’t had that plotline used in the last 4 seasons (including the season that was SUPPOSED to be the end)#Again no reason to give a shit#Especially since the status quo remains with Lou staying at the camp#The Ross kids are barely acknowledged or mentioned despite the show originally centering around them#And rather emotional closure that wraps up the loose ends with the series-original characters that were written off the show#and got no closure#instead they pull a Descendants with a dance party ending that doesn’t even fully fade to black by the end#Like what the fuck#My expectations for the series were low because any chance at a ‘good ending’ were thrown out the window with every renewal this show got#But oh my god this finale actually lowered my already low expectations#For years I’ve affirmed that Bunk’d is the perfect example as to why shows should just stay dead after they’ve ended#because if they don’t they can just become a rotting shell of what they’ve used to be and lose any and all quality beyond salvation#which is exactly what happened#And by consequence I am only happy BECAUSE the show ended and not in HOW it ended#But yeah the Jessie franchise is dead and so is Bunk’d lol
