There is so much potential in Patty being included in Sparda family interactions post-DMC 5. Her and Nero will have a chaotic and interesting cousins dynamic. Then there's Vergil having to learn how to be an uncle alongside Dante learning. Then there's Vergil and Dante learning how to be the ultimate dads together after one just found out he has a kid and the other might just (hopefully) be on his way to being more emotionally open and accepting that Patty has adopted him as her dad. There is just so much potential.
SO MUCH POTENTIAL YEAH
Honestly, I've always liked the idea of the twins being forced to ban together to even have a chance at being functional father figures. Vergil has no idea how to respond to ANYTHING Nero does, but Dante known him for 6 years, he can offer some advice. And Vergil can help Dante pull his head out of his ass by being brutally observant and honest with him, it's great. They are both trying to remember how their mom dealt with their stupidity daily when Nero and Patty go do mischievous cousin things together. True sitcom energy.

Demon Boys Grow Out Their Hair
Dante
He already grows out his hair a fair bit and honestly, I think it's because he's too lazy to go out and get it cut regularly. The longest it has been was a little past his shoulder blades. He was just going to start tying it back until he got tired of doing that and eventually cut it.
Vergil
The man already doesn't like having his hair down so the idea of growing out his hair just isn't in the cards for him. And no, we don't talk about V and his long emo bangs. Vergil will never bring it up. It's probably the only time his hair will ever be long. He cuts it immediately if it gets past a length he likes.
Nero
Nero has had long hair (DMC4) and it's ok. He definitely chalks it up to having an emo phase during his delinquent teen era because he doesn't want to admit to liking the bangs. He'll grow it out to see how he likes it now that he's 20-something and keeps it for about a month before asking his dad to cut it.

Dating Vergil headcannons
Tumblr media
-Vergil is undoubtedly a loving sweetheart. Yes, he has a grumpy side, but he truly loves you and cares for you however he can.
-Always protects you, be it from devils and grotesque monsters or a dog that happened to growl at you a little too much.
-Kinda gets overprotective like a dad over you whenever you get sick or injured, no matter how small the wound/illness is. He will immediately go into full parenting mode and wrap you up in a cocoon of blankets while worriedly feeding you soup and forcing bitter tasting medicine down your throat, or force you into a chair so he can dress and disinfect the wound as needed.
-Very jealous around Dante. Even though he knows that his brother would never attempt to steal you away from him, he can't shake that feeling; that nagging worry that perhaps you would fall for Dante's charms and leave him all alone.
-Of course, you'd never ever leave him, but Vergil's not the best at reading people, so he often needs to be told that.
-Shower this man in all the love and affection he deserves--you're the only one he'll ever allow to anyway.
-Calls you cute nicknames (but only in private) such as Babe, Dove, Sunlight, Sweetness, Queen, and My Motivation.
-Not good at expressing his affection through speech (bro I feel u) but excels at writing love letters to you, which he will never give to you in person--he'll just leave them lying around and hope you notice them.
-In order to escape teasing from Dante, he refuses to participate in any kind of PDA, no matter how small. He will, at the very most, hold your hand, but only when Dante is not around and if you ask nicely.
-Behind closed doors, however, things are entirely different. You will have yourself a living koala. He will latch onto you and never let go, using his huge frame to keep you pinned to whatever you happen to be lounging on, be it his plastic chair or your living room couch.
-Can't cook. It's a Sparda family curse. You are now tasked with the sacred duty that is producing a meal for this poor dude.
-Once a year, he undergoes his demon mating period--during this time, he gets really grumpy and cuts off all contact with everyone for like a month, the only exception is you.
-That's cause he needs you for something, if ya catch my drift. ;)
-Literally cold as ice, all the time. No matter how much you hold and snuggle him; no matter how many layers of clothes he wears, he's always cold.
-He doesn't feel it though, only you do, and because of that, he wonders why you always want to wrap him up in blankets and cuddle him.
-Complete and utter NERD for books, movies, TV shows, anime and so on. Knows enough about these topics to write an entire wiki but unfortunately must suppress this knowledge to save himself from the agony that is Dante's taunts.
-If you happen to share the same interests as him, then good for you! You two can spend all day holed up at home, geeking out about literally everything like the soul mates you are. 💓

I’m back again. (hope you don’t mind lol)
I come bearing gifts dw.
That last one was just *chef’s kiss* ♥️ as usual. Thank you so much for writing it. You did an amazing job. Confused Dante that turns into a little shit? ✅ Confused Vergil who gets offended once Dante teases explains the situation to him? ✅ Yes take my money 💸
So a new idea. Dante and Vergil with an S/O who has a son from a previous relationship. Do they get along with the kid? Parenting styles? How do they react when first meeting the kid or even when they find out S/O is a parent?
Tumblr media
dante sparda x reader // vergil sparda x reader
gn reader // what they're like with a step kid
a/n: I JUST SAW THIS IM SO SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG AHH!! AND THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING SO MUCH I LOVE THEM also!! I imagined this to be a sorta younger kid, pre adult at least
ᴅᴀɴᴛᴇ
- tries his best to take care of him, wants to be a good father figure for the kid. More like a fun uncle than a really big father figure, at least at first.
- if a relationship between the two of you starts to become something more permanent, he does try to be a father. Makes an effort for the kid since he knew what it was like not to have a father for a while
- he's not surprised to learn you have a kid, after all there are plenty of single parents in the world, but he is excited to meet them.
- I'd say Dante gets along very well with kids, idk just something about him being so silly and goofy
Random headcanon I think Dante would be a very big girl dad.
Tumblr media
ᴠᴇʀɢɪʟ
- is a little less thrilled about a kid, more distant than Dante at least. He worries about being close to you, and your kid too.
- I think vergil would be a little bit shocked if he found out you had a kid, but it's not crazy for him to imagine. Probably not something he had even thought about being the case though.
- he's a lot stricture than Dante, but he never becomes too pushy or overbearing over the kid. He does make efforts to take care of them though. Does occasionally get overprotective over them though

Hey! I hope you're doing well! I've been scrolling the DMC tag for a while and love your writing! That said... I was wondering if I could get Dante and Virgil head canons for the differences between dating them when they're younger like in the first few games vs when they're older like the lar couple of game.ps, I just think it's would be interesting to see how being a relationship with them would change with their age/maturity
First of all, thank you so much! I love when people enjoy my writing!
Second, forgive me if this isn't to your liking, I've only played 3, 4, and 5, and I'm more of a Vergil girl 😅
(you're actually my first ask, so I'm not used to this)
DMC3 Dante-
•would smack your ass in public
•would hit on you, no matter where you are
•would appreciate it if you don't shoot him in the head, babe
•would trip you on purpose just to be able to catch you and smirk at you "Heh. Looks like you really fell for me, huh?"
•would pursue you until you fell for his charm, if you didn't immediately
•knows you love when he walks around the office shirtless
DMC3 Vergil-
•would be uncomfortable showing PDA, including hand-holding, so you would more than likely just walk beside each other in public
•would be terrified of getting close to you because of what happened to his mother, so you'd be kept at arm's length
•would be extremely hesitant to trust you for a while, and come off as cold and uncaring, when he simply doesn't know how to love or be loved
•when you did earn his trust, he'd teach you how to wield your own weapon so you're not defenseless against lesser demons
•but good luck getting out of his sight long enough to actually fight anything your own
DMC5 Dante-
•would wear your bra/thong just to mess with you
•would give you your own personal strip tease in the bedroom
•sends you dirty sexts in the middle of the afternoon, just so you have something to look forward to that night
•if he knows you're really busy, especially at work, expect to get nudes
•if you use guns or swords, he falls that much harder for you
•rides his motorcycle everywhere with you just so he can feel your arms wrapped tightly around his waist
•would pull you close to him by your waist to give you surprise kisses on your cheek
DMC5 Vergil-
•much more at ease than his foolish little brother, preferring to sit down with a good book and a cup of hot tea
•would read William Blake to you from his book of poems, especially if you're sleepy
•would be much more comfortable with hand-holding in public
•would occasionally give you a forehead kiss in public, since he'll more than likely tower over you at 6'5" (195cm)
•would give one cold look to anyone who dare look your way for longer than necessary, and Sparda help them if they hit on you
•please give this demon a hug, because he just wants to be protected and loved, darling
•definitely the little spoon, despite his height
•wants you to stay out of the devil hunting business, because it would destroy him if he lost you too
•pretends he doesn't make dad jokes, but he definitely does

Note: y/n uses fem Pronouns. Also, characters might seem ooc but happy ending.
Fandom(s): Dmc
Character(s): Dante, Vergil, Nero
Ship: Dante x Reader (married)
Tumblr media
The pitter-patter of little feet came rushing into the kitchen before stopping not too far from where you stood over the stove. "Momma? When is daddy and cousin Nero coming home?"
You looked over to the white-haired little girl who was bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Well.." you hummed looking back at the meal you were making. "He did say it would be a long mission, but since Nero went with him." You acted as if you were thinking knowing full well he had texted you at lunch stating they should be home for dinner. "Maybe tonight?" You shrugged giving her a side-eye.
The little girl huffed crossing her arms "Well I think they should hurry up."
You chuckled nodding "oh I do agree with you dear, but you know work is work."
She pouts some more before heading to the main room most likely going through his drawers again. You were sure neither of you knew what she was looking for, but it passed the time till dinner was ready, and Dante made sure to put all the dangerous stuff away taking the keys with him.
Dinner was nearly done when you heard the bell of the shop door followed by a gasp from your daughter. Thinking it was your husband and nephew you moved the food off the heat before wiping your hands and moving to the main room.
You opened your mouth to say something when you realized who it was in the doorway. "...Vergil." the twin looked away from the desk where Eva hid behind.
"...where are Dante, and Nero?" His glare wasn't harsh. It just seemed to be his default facial expression.
If Dante was here he would be cautious about how he would answer. Even though that was his brother he still couldn't fully trust him. Not yet anyway. You weren't Dante though, and Vergil didn't seem to come here to hurt anyone. If he did he would have attacked the two of you on the spot. "Why?"
Vergil looked away from you seeming to contemplate if he should tell you his reasoning or not. He opened his mouth closed it then opened it again before speaking. "A casual visit.....I reminisced about my time as V and realized what I had been missing out on....despite Dante's annoying behavior."
You looked him up and down before sighing. "Fine, but you have to stay in this main room until they get back from their mission." You held out your hand to your daughter "Come on Eva."
In the corner of your vision you saw Vergil tense up at her name "you named her after..."
"Yes...it was Dante's Idea, and I didn't mind. It's a beautiful name." Eva came over to you taking your hand still looking over to the man who looked oddly like her father, but off in a way she couldn't put her finger on.
Vergil said nothing as the two of you made your way back to the kitchen. Tired of standing he sat on the couch pulling out his book to pretend like he was busy while he gather his thoughts.
Eva watched him from the door frame as you began to make plates for everyone including Vergil. It was a good thing you always make a little extra. "Who is that momma?"
"That's Vergil."
"Why does he look like daddy?"
"Because that his brother dear."
She was quiet for a moment before asking "So he would be my...uncle?"
In turn, you were quiet for a moment before finally speaking "yes he would."
That seemed to only fuel the little girl's curiosity as she continued to observe the man. When you weren't looking she snuck off to get a closer look at the man before noticing the book he was reading. It had a big V like the one cousin Nero has.
"My cousin Nero has the same book." The little girl stood in front of Vergil bouncing on the balls of her feet
She was certainly a Sparda by how fearlessly she stood in front of the intimidating man. "Is that so?" He mumbled his eyes returning to his book.
She shook her head and hummed a yeah "He always keeps it in his jacket pocket. Said his dad gave it to him." She got closer as she leaned down trying to look at the cover "I asked him to read it to me once. He said I wouldn't understand it." She pouted as she stood back up "I bet I would get it! I'm smart!"
Vergil couldn't help but give a chuckle "is that so?"
She nodded vigorously this time her curly white hair bouncing all over the place. "Yep! my Daddy even said so!"
Vergil wanted to shake his head. Dante was the last person he thought would have a say on who was smart, but he wasn't gonna tell her that. "Then would you like me to read to you?"
He watched her face light up in excitement. "Would you?!'
"Well I did ask" he deadpanned
Not seeming fazed she sat on the other side of the couch waiting for him to begin to read out loud. When he did it was rough and awkward. He doesn't remember the last time he read out loud like this, but eventually, he was able to find a rhythm. And smoothly read the book out loud to the child.
.
The second time you heard the bell on the shop door you knew for sure it was your husband and nephew. So after finally setting everything up for dinner, you went to the main area to greet them. Unfortunately now was not the time was the air seemed tense. Dante glared at Vergil as Nero looked between them. Vergil didn't seem to notice as he continued to read to the little girl who was now sitting closer to look over his arm at the book.
When Dante noticed you he looked over to you "what is he doing here?"
You shook your head as you approached him wrapping both of your arms around his arm. "He said he reflected as his time as V.....in what he missed on..."
He looked at you in disbelief "but angel..."
"He is family Dante....give him a chance...please?"
He studied your expression for a moment before sighing "okay fine, but if I'm right I get bragging rights."
You scoffed rolling your eyes and hitting his shoulder "yeah yeah." This time you spoke louder getting everyone's attention "now come on it's dinner time. You too Vergil you need something."
Eva jumped off the couch, and over to Nero who picked her up instantly "I told you I could understand the book!" She boasted
"Oh yeah? Then what's it about squirt?"
The little girl hesitated not able to recall anything Vergil said. When she didn't answer Nero laughed and pinched her nose walking into the dining room "told you; you wouldn't get it."
Vergil could hear the little girl whine as he stood up. This all felt so weird and new to him, but not bad. Is this what it's like to have a family? Vergil wasn't sure but he wanted to find out. If you all would allow it.

What effect do you think the legend of Sparda had on the horror genre in the DMC universe? Like, even if it just faded to a legend/children's story by the time Dante and Vergil were born, even legends and children's stories have an effect on culture, and horror as a genre. Makes me wonder if the Legend of the Dark Knight Sparda is like the story/character of Dracula, or something. (I wonder if people swoon over Sparda like they do Dracula/tragic, good monsters? Or "monsters"- think like the way Guillermo del Toro does monsters.)
There's also a movie poster in the subway/train station(?) of DMC5 that depicts a knight kneeling in front of a woman (princess?) in a white dress. I never was sure if that was supposed to be a reference to something that came out when DMC5 did, or if it was a call back to DMC4 (maybe to Nero and Kyrie? And awww, he's her dark Knight, that's so sweet!), or if it was just something that they'd have in-universe, so that kinda made me wonder about this.
Thanks for the ask!
In the DMC 2 Novel Beryl mentions having seen Sparda in picture books as a child, so his tale was made into picture books at least.
The idea that they made plays and movies and books about him is so funny to me and probably true. I'm just imagining somebody dragging Dante out to see a movie about his dad in theaters.
Imagine if they made tv shows about him too. Perhaps even video games, and maybe even board games.
Imagine they made stories where Sparda had children or something, not knowing he in fact did, probably not even knowing he was real.
I have never thought about all this and now I am and I thank you for that.

Can I have a sequal 2 da Dante x Reader birth to his darughter…. Lik what he iz lik after his daughter iz b0rn and what his wife (y/n) is like
Sure thing.
-Rodeo.
Tumblr media
Loves his daughter. Loves her very much.
Definitely extremely protective over her since he is the infamous son of Sparda and she the granddaughter.
Sings her old bar tunes from his younger more degenerate years.
Definitely gets a little more serious when he has his daughter but only because he’s terrified of anything happening to her.
Picks up little trinkets for her.
When she was younger and teething she’d cry over sore gums and Dante would slip her a crust of pizza to gum away at when you weren’t looking.
He sucks at cooking but he can make simple things for her.
Dante would love his wife like it was his first time ever seeing her every day.
Becomes very domestic.
Will wake up later than the two of you in the mornings but makes it his job to scoop the two of you up once he makes it to the kitchen where you’re making breakfast.
His daughter will have a phase where she is disgusted by how deeply in love the two of you are. She also thought your real name was either babe or sugar for a while.
He’s got trauma from his childhood and how abruptly it ended so he’ll never want his little girl to grow up too fast. He tries to keep the ugliness of the world away from her as much as he can.
Dante’s daughter will sneak away from curfew to join her old man on missions and eventually Dante realizes he can’t keep her away from his bounty hunter life.
His wife, oh his wife.
He loves wearing his ring. A simple silver band with your name engraved.
His wife would have to be very nurturing but tough. He wouldn’t put a woman through his life unless he knew she could handle it.
He likely wouldn’t trust a civilian and would probably prefer a woman who also knew of the demon world and how to eradicate her weight in devils.
However, the two of you quickly fall into domestic life together, especially with the child.
You’d be understanding when he came home too late but his daughter is very much a daddy’s girl and would jump for joy at his return.
Drinks in front of his daughter and when she’s older she’ll make fun of him or steal his handles when she has her friends over.
Wants to be a cool dad but knows kids these days aren’t as easily impressed as they used to be.
His wife definitely grounds Dante from going too low and shooting too high. He struggles with both.
He really needs a ride or die but please don’t die. His worst fear is ending up like his mother in that sense where he’ll have to raise your daughter alone. ;(.
Once puberty happens and all of a sudden daddy’s girl doesn’t want to be near him at all and is always rolling her eyes, he’s devastated. He’s just glad she has a good relationship with you at least during that era so he at least can hear how she’s doing from a second source.
“No please not the teenage angst. She gets it from me.”
Will blow his top if he catches her being disrespectful to you.
His daughter after a terrible fight will find him later with a bourbon in hand and a photo book of her baby photos. He asks her to sit down and tells her-
“I know things aren’t very good between us right now but if anything, anything happened to you…I wouldn’t know what to do.”
A little goes a long way and the two are quick to go back to being close.
Will spend money he doesn’t have on her. She would be spoiled if you as her mother didn’t set boundaries.
Won’t take it easy on her sparring wise since she’s a quarter demon and needs to know how to strut her trigger when she needs it. The tough love pays off.
All in all, Dante desperately wants to be a good father and be present at everything. He’ll want to involve himself in everything she’s up to and is willing to invite him to.
Most likely, he’ll find himself extremely happy in this new family of his, of strong loving women who take no shit.
Please let Dante settle down and be happy Capcom I ain’t gonna keep begging.

Thoughts/HCs about Nero no one asked for
Ok so first off, I wanna touch up on how I thought of a lot of this after reading a shit ton of Dadgil stuff cuz I would die for Vergil raising Nero and being a dad even with Nero being in his 20s. Both versions are good. Anyway. This also came to mind after reading a bit about Fortuna and what kind of city it is other than the base of it being a Sparda worshipping community and from what we know of how Nero was treated growing up. So I’m gonna go on and hop in and spew my thoughts.
1. Since Fortuna is said to be based off a city in Italy, it gives the impression that the people possibly speak Italian. So with that yes I can see Nero knowing Italian and cussing out his uncle and dad whenever.
2. With him being neglected thanks to the orphanage, think of the many things he doesn’t know how to do and how underdeveloped a lot of things he should’ve been taught.
3. He probably doesn’t know how to read properly. Or speak well in that matter so it’s why he picks up a lot of fowl language from everyone around him.
4. Though it’s said that Red Queen was created to be a new way to fight against demons, the fact it was given to Nero and how well he cares for the sword goes to show he wasn’t given a lot of things growing up. So maybe it’s why he’s so well versed in how to sharpen the sword and modify the rev of it with proficiency.
5. SOCIAL SKILLS!!!! The poor kid grew up being bullied for peats sake. Being told his mother was a prostitute and/or for whatever other reasons. I like to personally think another factor could be his white hair since by looks alone, brown hair is highly dominant and him being born with white hair might be seen as a bad omen. So being bullied made him very antisocial as it states within his lore.
6. Even though Credo’s and Kyrie’s parents took him in, they probably never really cared for Nero like they did for their children and kept him at arms length. That sort of treatment is why he’s awkward with trying to accept Vergil being his dad, just as much as Vergil is having a difficult time accepting Nero as his son. Dante probably was one of the few positives in Nero’s life since they ended up respecting each other. Dante knew how to handle him because of his Devil Bringer and how Yamato reacted so powerfully to Nero’s presence, so yes I am also a firm believer of Dante being a rare person Nero could go to just like with Kyrie. Zio Dante for the win.
7. With how he grew up and in the events of DMC4, think of the amount of times Nero displayed a lot of similar habits to Vergil that made Dante do a double take. Especially after getting Yamato. From the cold glare, the way he pushes his hair back that really makes him look like a Vergil Jr., the quips he would made when talking back that have an edge to them. And then think of his first interaction with Trish/Gloria on how silent he was and calculating her every move while knowing for 100% that there’s no way she’s apart of The Order.
And I can’t think much of other things about Nero now. I think I exhausted what power my writing brain had. Thanks writers block for making me feel unmotivated. Anyway. Hopefully y’all enjoy this cuz brain was a buzzin with a lot of these revelations of mine.

Wall-of-text comment, coming right up!
Okay I think I forgot to mention this before, but I love the Mundus powerscaling you've settled on, and the story of Vergil running away after dmc3!
I think the dmc3 novel or smth gave fans the impression that a 'rested' dmc3 single twin could have defeated Mundus, which, while truly tragic as so much trouble could have been avoided, I think it's also very underwhelming. I guess you upscaled Mundus even higher than dmc1 Dante (30-smth yo) + DS Sparda? Anyway, I really love this. Mundus is a very dangerous and tangible threat, and it's a great pressure point on the twins to figure out their bullshit faster.
And the story you've come up with for post-dmc3 Vergil is very true to him, or at least, I think it is very true for him. Vergil's been on the run from his issues for the last decade, and the ending of the last twin fight just showed him that...all that growth was still enough. His newly awakened little brother was able to defeat him, then what chance does he stand against Mundus? As painful as it looks, that defeat was be a significant blow to him, and Dante's attempts to help would not be able to remedy that, if anything they would only aggravate Vergil's wounds. So yeah, it makes total sense Vergil ran into the night one after that.
Birthday chapters commentary:
(regarding the notes at the beginning of the chapter - I Am Looking Forward To Seeing Your Older Nero)
My best guess is that Vergil was thinking of his 'hiding' habits and how they affected Nero, so, berating himself in front of his mom, before the beginning of the chapter. Then, Dante mentioning that Eva would be proud of Vergil's parenting (which she would) triggered him and he bolted.
Lemme just quickly say here that the frustration Dante feels when Vergil runs? So. Goddamn. Relatable. To. The. Reader.
Love the twins' strategy of constantly picking Nero up, adorable))) Also love that Nero came up to his uncle for the support there (I am weak for Uncle Dante), be clearly needed some support there to tell his dad. That entire scene is great and I love it. The moment Nero interprets Vergil leaving wrong is small but heartbreaking all the same.
The description of the uncle-nephew nap had me crackling in tears xDDD So accurate too!
The scene of Dante waking up automatically looking for a gun is another sneaky, yet powerful heartbreak. I guess he anticipated something like this before and started keeping his girls away when family visits occur? Also wonder why didn't Nero run and jump full speed on his newly-awakened uncle. Missed opportunity, birthday boy!
Twins almost starting another fight, but wrapping it and tossing it away just as quickly in front of Nero is definitely progress, and another prime example of 'forcing the dogs to lie'. Perfectly in sync, even if their actual opinion on the topic are opposites, and the question before them is in dire need of discussing.
Car space for legs being too short is just. Pure torture. All-too relatable, sadly. Poor bois, they did nothing to deserve this(
Nero&Dante teaming up in 'zebra is a horse' arguement is everything to me. Vergil was laughing at his favourite idiots, no doubt xD
My live reaction at little Nero trying to get Dante involved in zoo activities (follow your own advice for your brother, loser): 😭😭😭
Surprisingly accurate common zoo layout description! Very well done there.
"Lizards are not crying aside- [topic switch]" demons? Was that a Devil May Cry reference? What next, a fic Featuring Dante???
I love every single one animal interaction. Like, you could have easily glassed over those, they don't affect the plot or character interactions between each other. Yet, they are all so detailed and lively, I adore those. It's clear you've had a lot of experience with animals, OR your research is obsessively-crazy good. I bet both.
My live reaction at Nero holding hands with twins: 😭😭😭
"I can't Birthday Boy out of this one" - snorted out loud at this one xDDD I feel like the zebra debate is based on personal experience xD
UNCLE DANTE SHOULDER RIDE UNCLE DANTE SHOULDER RIDE UNCLE DANTE SHOULDER RIDE (Vergil absolutely got jealous, and it was his own fault)
Kyrie is a certified otter lover. Love Vergil's little queue to not bring her up and how quickly Dante adapts to his advice.
The plushie naming scene is precious.
Dante seeing that the gift for Nero is hand-wrapped by a clearly inexperienced Vergil is another sneaky little, but very powerful heartbreak. While Dante would make a truly awesome uncle, I also feel very strongly that he would be jealous of Nero. Dante was never enough for Vergil, but Nero had to just..appear and boom! almost-domesticated Vergil. (this is absolutely Dante's issues speaking and not what actually happened, I can also absolutely see the reverse of this happening - Nero being jealous of Dante's twin-telepathy with his father.
Vergil's little cake admission. OUCH. Bad Dante, you shouldn't deflect your closed-off brother's rare emotional moment, you should encourage those to happen more, Bad Dante, Bad.
Twins pool scene can solve all of reader's mental health problems, guaranteed. Precious. Soul-healing. Very touching.
(why was Vergil shaken after that shoulder pat?...my best guess is touch-starvation, but Nero should have been able to keep that one at bay I think...)
I'm enjoying this reread and note-taking very much)))
I GET TWO IN ONE DAY????? 👀
Ohhh you were CHEWING on this one I can see! For your guess on my knowledge of zoo layouts/animals- I grew up obsessively watching Animal Planet and have been to zoos and aquariums quite a lot before! I LOVE animals even if I don't have the skills/certifications/heart to work closely with them in a professional setting. When I was super little I'd been thinking about pursuing that as a career but set it down because I get way too attached to things. Besides my beloved massive american wirehair cat that roams my house like an overgrown baby I also keep a corn snake I've raised since he was younger than a month old.
Mundus! Yes! I wanted him to be an actual threat that's looming in the background of the narrative because let's be real that guy can create other demons wholesale on a whim and can- well- wait that's spoilers hold on I can't say that 💀 either way I wanted his presence to have actual weight to it rather than just seem like a little speedbump that the twins can take down without issue and have just been avoiding for no reason. He's got his own plans in motion that get hinted at in the narrative but not said outright. He's acting like a persistence predator in that respect. Strategically hunting at random points, cutting off escape routes, and keeping his quarry on edge so their capabilities diminish little by little until they get desperate and tired. :)
I'm not gonna lie I think you even picked up stuff in the narrative I HADN'T PLANNED but it all works so good!!! The case of the writer subconsciously pulling off genius narrative strikes again.
I'm in love with all of this I'm dipping you lowly(platonically) because while I'm going to keep being self-indulgent in this series until it's over it's so exciting to get interactions with it!! I spent a while worried that my method of situational characterization with this divergent AU would be off-putting to anyone else but you're proving me so wrong.
Also yes Older Nero in this AU is going to be fun! I have quite a lot of that content already written or planned. He grows up to have a very similar to canon personality with- a different flavor that you'll see as we progress in the series.
I have a fun question that doesn't need an answer, but is a little extra tidbit to think on because you've made my day:
If the official DMC team said once that Nero wouldn't be who he was without Kyrie- then what do you think Kyrie would be without Nero?
EDIT: No you know what I am NOT DONE TALKING!! I keep dwelling on how you noticed every single moment of action that reveal scars that haven't healed!! The one that still kills me is the description of how Vergil wrapped the gift because if it had been from his perspective we would have just seen him berating himself for not being able to do better but through Dante's eyes we see the MEANING behind the gesture and how significant it is.
Also the zebra argument was by far one of my best things and if I've had that hyper-specific argument before I don't remember but I have FEELINGS about it!
The pool scene. Oh, how soft it makes me feel. Writing it was such a nice breath of fresh air it makes my heart melt and was a sign that with time Vergil can heal and open back up to his family.

the DMC boys (Dante, Vergil, Nero, V) finding out reader is pregnant???
Sparda boys + V x Pregnant!Fem!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Freaks the hell out--not out of disappointment or anger or anything like that, but out of excitement.
-Immediately starts researching dad jokes so he and Vergil can have a "dad-off" to see who can be cornier.
-Also helps you decorate and stuff, giggling and laughing the entire time.
-Talks a lot about his plans for the baby; how he wants to be a better dad than his was, how he wants to prepare it for demon hunting, and how he wants to train it to insult Vergil on sight.
-He's also got a whole-ass list of pranks to pull with the baby prepared, from chucking water balloons at your unsuspecting neighbors to TP-ing the neighborhood houses.
-Other than that clearly childish mischief, Dante's already rocking the "middle aged dad" vibes so he'll do fine.
■ Vergil ■
-His first thought was: "Oh no, not again."
-Vergil was legitimately afraid of having another child after what happened with Nero and his unknown mother, however, you managed to convince him that this would be different and that you wouldn't be going anywhere.
-Vergil had a lot of nightmares and troubled dreams the next few weeks. Though his heart wanted to believe you, his damaged mind had other plans, which it revealed to him in the form of horrible visions.
-With your help, and a lot of time, he got over these dark thoughts and began to see the light in having another child.
-Though he wouldn't dare speak it aloud, Vergil was convinced that the baby would reunite the Sparda family once and for all: Nero would finally have a sibling whom he'd want to visit, allowing Vergil to spend more time with his son, and since he, Nero, and the new baby would all be together, Dante would naturally join in and the boys could be bros again.
-After having that revelation, Vergil became noticeably more excited for the baby's birth.
□ Nero □
-Nero is excited but terrified.
-He's more than happy to learn you're expecting, but since he's so young, he's worried he won't make a good dad. You'd think he'd ask his parents for help, but no...he never knew his mom and his dad is less than pleasant.
-So, what does he do? Nothing. He puts his hood up and sits on the couch, doing nothing in tense silence.
-After an hour or so of brooding, he decides, fuck it, he's gonna wing it and be the best dad the Sparda bloodline will ever see.
-He proudly announces this fact over dinner at Devil May Cry, eliciting mixed responses, particularly from the soon-to-be-grandpa.
-You and Nero will be excellent parents who raise a happy, healthy child, he'll see to that.
● V ●
-Doesn't even know what being pregnant means, and can you really blame him? The only piece of literature he's ever read is William Blake's poetry, it's a miracle he can tie his shoes. Oh wait, he wears sandals.
-Griffon knows, somehow, and explains what it is. The minute the realization dawns upon him is the minute his eyes widen, his mouth drops open, and he nearly passes out.
-A baby, a real life baby is brewing gestating in your tummy and it's his?! He helped make life!? What?!
-V is ecstatic! He can't wait to read this baby bedtime stories, sing it lullabies, and rock it to sleep.
-Even his familiars are preparing; Griffon is ready to give it a light show with his magic and Shadow keeps bringing dead birds as gifts.
-V might be a complete noob when it comes to living life, but hey, so is your baby, so they can figure things out together.

I think the funniest crossover ever would be Pizza Tower and Devil May Cry. We got one anxious pizza joint owner, Peppino Spaghetti, who would pummel someone with his bare fists while going at Mach 4 like a maniac. Then there's the wahoo half devil pizza man, Dante Sparda, that hunts demons for a living and has major family drama.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dante would be such a common visitor to this strange pizza joint for two reasons. One is the pizza is actually good. Two Peppino practically the most interesting person he has ever met. Dante is convinced that this man got demon heritage from seeing him beat the shit out of any demons who try wreck the joint.
Hell there is a gooey doppelganger he seen multiple times with an apparent appetite for demon meat, living pizza toppins who dance around and another chef that rides on a giant ass rat. Peppino meanwhile just glad Dante pays for his massive amount of food(thank Vergil whose tired of his little brother's tab lifestyle. He does the funds.) He still doesn't know how this guy with the big ass sword even found his shop.
I got even funnier yet wholesome crack thought in the form of Nero being adopted by Peppino. He magically disappears from the orphanage doors and instead pops up outside the diner. Peppino is fucking confused as he just finished closing up his new restaurant only to find a baby. (DMC and PT are separate worlds that can be accessed through particular areas.)
Cue instant panic since who the hell would leave a baby here?! He can't exactly leave the kid here as there is no place to take him anywhere. Thus the start of reluctant dad Peppino and Nero Ink Spaghetti with special guest uncle Gustavo!
It was definitely a struggle raising a baby alongside running a pizza joint but our anxious man manages to do it. Peppino is an absolute happy crier when it comes to Nero's big accomplishments. Especially making his first pizza by himself as he definitely teaches our quarter devil how to cook.
Although Peppino hates the Noise a lot more than him being a usual nuisance. He can handle the mean pranks when it's on him but his son? You can thank one notorious mishap with the Noise that awakened a 10 year old Nero's Devil Trigger.
The kid was absolutely a fucking wreck when it happen not because he have no clue on his heritage nor demons completely. It's how Peppino would react as the man who raised him like a son is a massive ball of PTSD from being a retired war veteran. The man definitely got spooked when his kid burst into flames.
Nero being able to change into some kind of devil wouldn't make Peppino reject him though. This was just another side that everyone would have to get used too but yeah. Peppino definitely hates the Noise with passion after this incident.
Nero's first adventure actually doesn't start in Devil May Cry 4 but instead Pizza Tower which takes place a year before it. Due to Pizzaface antics, father and son got separated for quite awhile. Taking on the various levels of each floor before finally reuniting at Fake Peppino's boss stage: Bruno's Pizza.
Nero stole a random sword on Floor 1 and a gun from Floor 2 as he doesn't has his official gear yet. (He steals that from SWORD while at Fortuna.) Pizza Tower could be considered a perfect playground to figure his own abilities than just Devil Trigger. That and final boss tag team as both were completely done with Pizzaface at that point.
Now things around the diner absolutely changed a bit afterwards. Fake Peppino, Peppy, moved in without warning although Nero wasn't that offput unlike his dad. He absolutely pulled the 'Clone = New Kid' card on Peppino as the Toppins were practically adopted too from how fond said man is with them. (Those little guys taunt whenever Peppino does too!)
Ending up on Fortuna can be considered a Hell Portal in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or it shows up inside Peppino's Diner which practically leads Peppino, Nero, Gustavo, Brick, and Pep to get dragged in devilish shenanigans. You can bet your ass everyone was so fucking befuddled by these newcomers.
Dante the most as he had a feeling who Nero is but not the strange man who piledrived a Balrog with sheer strength and speed. Did Peppino think the half devil is his son's relative? Absofuckinglutely. White hair, can go Devil Time(what he calls Devil Trigger) and the obviously cultish spiel about this 'Sons of Sparda' was enough.
He would've torn into Dante if the man didn't admit to being clueless. (Vergil nor his other halves are safe though. Even V is getting suplexed.) Peppino and Pep do rip Dante a new one when he decides to call Nero deadweight. You don't insult their son/older brother without an ass kicking.
Our Pizza Tower makeshift family get involved in Devil May Cry 5 when Nero didn't call them back for awhile. He had decided to work under Dante so he could get to understand his family heritage better. Nero still calls and visits when he can even bringing Kyrie along.
Peppino did cry upon finding out the two became a couple like the proud dad he is. Kyrie gets quite well with Pep and thinks the Toppins are adorable little fellows. Now I can't forget about Vergil.
You can bet your ass it was fucking awkward when he found out not only Nero is his son but considers this weirdass anxious man as his father. Peppino loathes Vergil to no end especially with the arm cutting to get Yamato. The older Sparda doesn't visit the diner for awhile since Pep would try to tear him apart since he's just as vengeful. Fake Peppino likes the taste of demon flesh btw.
It took some time before things could smooth over between both parties. Now if only Dante and Vergil behave than try to kill each other near his restaurant. Peppino's Diner practically has a two way portal between both worlds due to the Hell Portal in the restaurant incident. (It's in the basement behind a closed door.)
The Devil May Cry crew do visit frequently thanks to that. Mainly Dante since the pizza is not only good but cheaper too. If a demon tries to slip through than Peppino will beat the shit out of it. Also he probably got a Devil Arm shaped like a pizza cutter now that I think about it.
Then again, Peppino's Diner never be the same after a little baby with white hair showed up at the doors. What do you guys think? For now enjoy this little jam.

Just saw your pumpkin spice latte story, also the chocolate one and Evan
How about this, Evan discovering the one game that took the internet by storm years ago... that being Minecraft? Imagining Evan becoming so darn addicted Dante will have to rip his daughter off the computer
That actually sounds like a really good idea!
To be fair, Evan definitely grew up during those times. I was, unfortunately, a bit older when the game came out... in my early 20s, actually.
So, with this prompt, it's not all humor. It's mostly the reality of being a parent and having to discipline your child without breaking down the trust in your child. I think parenting in general is like walking a tightrope because there needs to be balance. For Dante, that doesn't come easy as he had no real example of fatherhood. I don't see Sparda actually being a 'Dad' more of a 'Father', and trust me, there is a huge difference. Anyway, hope this meets expectations.
Well, here it is!
Just a Bunch Of Pixelated Blocks
It was the yelling that woke him up late one night. Not that Dante had really been sleeping peacefully. Oh no, peaceful sleeping was really out of the question these days. Especially when there were bad dreams to be had.
The yelling was definitely not him. It was too young and feminine to be him unless he turned into a woman in his sleep. It's highly unlikely, but one never knows. No, this was the frustrated yells of his one and only daughter. He honestly did not know what exactly was going on, even though it had been obvious. He should have never gotten her that damn computer for her birthday.
He quickly put on some pants and a shirt before heading out of his room to deal with his pre-teen child. What on earth did he get himself into when he walked into that damn bar twelve years ago.
She was up most hours of the night when she should be sleeping. Of course, Dante still had problems trying to adjust to this thing called 'parenting', but he thought he was doing okay. Evan was still alive, not starving, and was functioning just fine in his care. He could be more assertive when it came to keeping her on track with school, but he was pretty sure he enabled her to get away with murder if it came down to it.
That was his fault.
He ran a hand down his face when he walked out of his room. It must have been one in the morning or later, but she was definitely awake. He could see the light from her computer coming from under her door and the sound of her keyboard clicking as she played her game. How long was this going to continue?
She was twelve years old and already had emotional problems. That was not her fault, to be honest. Her upbringing was never in his control. Actually, he had not even existed to her until a year ago. Again, it was not his fault, but that was how the cards fell.
He slowly opened the door to see her staring intently at her computer screen. This game had been out a few years now, but her new friends at school had gotten her into it. It was clearly fun and encouraged creativity, but it was causing her grades to slip. If there was one thing he wanted for her, it was the things he did not have when he was her age.
School was a touchy subject for him.
Even so, Dante knew Evan was too busy listening to music while she played. He was going to handle this in his way, which was why a smirk crept onto his face. She could not hear him creeping up behind her.
He could see the health bar at the bottom blinking as a green cactus looking thing was walking up to her character.
"No! Don't you dare!" She yelled out as the thing got closer on the screen and started flashing red. She clicked her mouse as hard as she could to kill the green thing while a skeleton could be seen shooting at her. "No no no no no!" Then apparently, everything blew up. "Why would you do that!?" There was a whine to her voice that sounded like desperate frustration.
It was a game... on a computer.
Dante could not understand the appeal. Maybe it's because he grew up in the 80s, and his version of entertainment was Atari and shooting things in the back of Nell's workshop... he honestly did not know. He just knew his kid was incredibly addicted to this mess of pixelated blocks.
And now she was crying.
Well, crap.
And she still did not know he was behind her. At least not until he put a hand on her shoulder.
"What the fuck!!!" If Evan was a cat, she would be clinging to the ceiling by her claws. She jumped so hard she scrambled out of her chair and onto the floor. "Dad!"
"Evan!" Dante countered her reaction with an equally shocked expression as she scrambled up against the wall. "What are you doing up?" His face went from fake shock to serious. "It's two in the morning, and you have school." If there was one thing he hated the most, it was being the mean parent.
"I couldn't sleep." She was cowering against the wall in fear. He suddenly felt terrible because he knew that look. The look of a kid who had seen way more than she should have in her young age. "I'm sorry." He crossed his arms, trying to figure out how to handle this.
Dante walked closer with his bare feet padding against the wood floor. He said nothing as he sat down next to her on the floor with his back up against the wall. It was all he could think of to make her feel comfortable. It was the scared look on her face that did him in. No one told him how it would feel when he saw Evan hurting or in fear. It was probably the worst thing he ever felt besides the other things that happened in his life.
He ran a hand through his hair as Evan calmed herself down.
"I'm not mad at you." He had his knees bent as he rested his arm on them. "But you're on this thing every waking moment and when you aren't doing anything else." He motioned to the computer, which currently had a response prompt on the screen. "And you're getting upset over dying in a game." Well, if she only knew about the multiple impalings he had gone through over the years and LIVED!
"But I worked so hard to get that diamond armor and sword." She looked at him with tears in her eyes. Kids and their video games. "Now I have to start over."
"Then start over, but not when you are supposed to be sleeping."Dante shook his head at the thought of his daughter thinking the game was more important than anything else. "Or doing other things."
"But Dad, this is all I have to do." Not really, but he was not big into giving her chores. Especially when he did not feel like doing things himself most days anyway. "This or homework, and you're only useful with math." He wrapped his right arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer as she sniffed.
"Look, it's just a bunch of pixelated blocks on a screen... they can wait until after school." Well, there was also another way to solve this problem. "And I hate to do it, Princess, but I'm taking your power cord at night from now on." Then the real waterworks began. Oh no... the fountain of tears came like a downpour. He was trying really hard not to roll his eyes.
"You can't do that, it's my computer." This conversation felt extremely familiar, but he could not place where it happened before. Or with who. "You gave it to me!" Evan pulled away from him. He was not taking her computer, just setting boundaries as suggested by one of her teachers at the parent-teacher meeting.
"Sorry, Kid, but this is how it has to be." He stood up and went to the computer. "You can play when your homework is done or on the weekends." The look on her face was horrific as he went to pull the plug from the wall.
"Wait at least let me save it before you turn it off!" Evan cried out in desperation. Obviously there was something Dante was missing from this whole thing. He knew nothing about computers. Well, he knew a couple things, but mostly nothing. "If you turn it off like that it's going to erase everything!" Big tears were streaming down her cheeks. Oh the pain. The ache was there in his heart, but Dante knew that this was for the best.
"Okay, so save it then shut it down." And she did exactly that as she looked at him defeated. The pleading in her eyes as he disconnected the power cable and held in in his hand with a tight grip. Why did this bother him so much? "Hey, it's not forever." He attempted to put a hand on her shoulder but she turned away from him to get in her bed.
Dante watched her as she curled up under the covers and cried. None of this made any sense to him. All of this over a game for crying out loud. It was not the first time he heard about this. There was an epidemic of kids turning into crying messes because of their parents limiting computer time. Especially with this game. At the same time, it felt awful. He looked down at the cord in his hand and squeezed it.
The bane of his existence at that moment was a damn piece of plastic and copper wire.
Parenting was hard.
This was new territory for him anyway, but he knew they would get through it. He loved the kid that was crying in her bed with all of his heart, and soul. This was just a bump in the road. She was undoubtedly part of him, even with her temper.
"I love you, Princess." He told her before slowly walking out of her room and shutting the door.
All of this over Minecraft.
When Evan got home from school the next day, she walked in with a smile on her face. Dante was in his usual spot at his desk with his feet up and his arms crossed over his chest. He was a little suspicious of the smile on his daughter's face, but put it up to being Friday...
Oh... it was Friday.
Shit.
"So, Dad, I forgive you for taking my computer cord away." She gave him a sickeningly sweet smile as she stood on the other side of his desk. "But you forgot it was Friday, didn't you?" He narrowed his eyes before reaching into the top right hand drawer of his desk.
"I hope a creeper blows up your house." He handed the cord over to her.
"Wait, have you been playing Minecraft while I'm at school?" That was a very strong accusation.
"I can neither confirm or deny that accusation." Dante smirked at her as she looked at him with semi confusion mixed with a little shock. "Anyway, times a wasting... better go make use of it." He leaned back in his chair with his arms behind his head and a smile on his face.
If he was going to make amends, he better learn about those pixelated blocks on his daughter's computer.
