i like the idea of sometimes finding giant webs in secluded but very high up areas, like under water towers or in rafters of abandoned buildings, and if you’re lucky you might see a spider-person in it either sleeping or staring down at you

The Boo Brothers
AN: Late, I know, but class doesn’t get out til 9. This prompt was really fun to write! Peter & Miguel are really goofy & I just love them. How you enjoy day 10!
Peter B. Parker was a class A goofball. He liked playing games and being silly, but most importantly, he liked making people laugh and have some fun. And he was damn good at it.
Halloween always put him in a bit of a spunky mood, and he felt inspired to cause a little mischief. Maybe the chill in the air put a spring in his step, or the fun and spooky atmosphere reminded him of his love of lighthearted pranks. Whatever it was, he felt the need to pull one over on someone. He was walking down the hall when he passed an open door and saw the usual spider-gang hanging out in the wreck room: perfect.
The idea popped up so suddenly and without any preamble, that it nearly startled Peter. But he shoved his hands into his robe pockets and casually strolled in, going along with it as if he'd had this plan all along. He had a natural commitment to any bit tossed his way the likes of which you have never seen.
That is not to say that the others don't know when he's doing a bit. Quite the contrary. It is rather obvious when Peter begins some long winded ruse, but everyone is too interested in where he's going with it to put an end to it.
He flopped his right hand around in his pocket, wiggling fingers, anything he could to make it look like something was caught in there. Pavitr was the first to take notice, doing a double take when he noticed the frantic movement of his pocket and stared with wide eyes.
"Dude, what's going on with your pocket? Did you catch a squirrel or something?" he asked, drawing the rest of their attention to Peter, and now they all wanted to know what the hell he had in his pocket. Peter played along.
"Heh, no. I wish it were that simple," he said in a serious tone. He schooled his features, lunging a trapped hand at Gwen, who happened to be the closest. She squealed and jumped back as Peter reigned in his arm.
"What the hell Peter?" she asked, cheeks faintly flushed. He did his best to act apologetic.
"I'm sorry, but that's why I came to see you," he said, clutching onto his right wrist with his other hand, forcing it to stay inside the pocket. They all stared at him with confused looks.
"I'm sorry, what?" Gwen asked, arms crossed. Peter rolled his eyes, as if annoyed he had to explain himself.
"Um, look, I'll just cut to the chase. Ghosts and demons and stuff are cool now, right? And you guys are all pretty cool kids, so you're keeping with the trends-" he rambled. Miles furrowed his brows in worry and utter cluelessness, looking to Hobie for any indication of what the actual fuck he was talking about. Hobie arched a brow and shrugged, sporting an amusedly confused smirk. "I guess what I'm trying to ask is, do you guys know anything about possession?"
Gwen scoffed. "You think you're possessed?" she asked skeptically.
“Absolutely! And I’d appreciate it if you took this seriously,” he said, really hamming it up. “I mean, if you don’t believe me, just look!” He “released” his hand from the robe pocket and it made another grab at Gwen, this time being successful. He latched onto her sides and squeezed, sending her into a fit of giggles.
“You liahahar!” she squealed, doubling over as Peter scribbled over her tummy.
“Nu uh!” Peter insisted, continuing the ticklish assault. “See, it happened after MJ got me last night. My hands have been restless ever since,” he lamented, working up Gwen’s sides. “I’m afraid I’m possessed by some kind of tickle monster!”
“You ahahare not!” she denied. Hobie shrugged, a smirk tugging on his lips.
“Don’t know mate, seems legit to me,” he teased. Peter smirked himself and turned on the tallest teen, making him stumble back with a yelp. He managed to wrestle his arms above his head, alternating scribbling in each pit.
“I just can’t help who I attack! Sorry Hobie, I really can’t help it!”
“Shuhut it you bahahastard!”
“Hey, I’m just as much a victim in this as you are!”
Miguel stood in the doorway, dumbfounded, and crossed his arms over his chest. He cleared his throat, grabbing their attention.
“Is there a reason you’re torturing them, or are you just bored?” he asked in a neutral tone, arching a brow.
“Peter’s possessed by a tickle monster!” Pavitr supplied. Miguel couldn’t roll his eyes hard enough.
“Is he now?” he asked, seemingly uninterested. “Well I guess I’ll leave you all to it.” He turned to leave and felt a hand around his wrist yank him back. He stumbled a few feet, being caught by Peter from behind.
“Sorry bud, but I can’t help myself right now,” he said sympathetically as Miguel hissed and thrashed in his hold. He tried to fight back the deep laughter that wanted to spill out when Peter started kneading his hips.
“G-go toho hehehell,” he giggled out through clenched teeth. Peter gasped.
“Well that’s rude!” Peter exclaimed, one hand roaming down to squeeze his thighs. Miguel burst into loud belly laughs, shoving weakly at Peter’s hands. He made a show of taking a deep breath before blowing a raspberry against Miguel’s neck.
A string of curses gave way to helpless cackles and snorts, especially when Peter started nibbling. “Ohohokahay, oho fuhuhuck thahat’s bad! Peter!” Miguel scolded through hysterics, and needless to say everyone in the room was thoroughly amused.
Peter backed off with a smug grin. “You alright?” Miguel stood there, catching his breath and shot a harsh glare at him. He also shot him the bird. If it was even possible, Peter grinned wider.
“What?” Miguel snapped, though it wasn’t as harsh as you’d expect.
“I bit you. You’re possessed now, it’s how it works,” he explained, oh so casually. Miguel scoffed, furrowed his brows, doing anything to try to appear not amused.
“Bullshit.”
“No, it’s true! It had to be how MJ transferred it to me!” he explained frantically.
“You’re really gonna blame your wife?” Miguel quipped. Pavitr barked out a laugh before covering his mouth with his hand.
“You’re missing the point. You’re possessed by the ghost too now,” he said, acting as though it was grave news, but the sparkle in his eyes when he looked at Miguel said otherwise.
“Oh so it’s a ghost now?” he asked, not even bothering to hide his amusement anymore. “Well then, it’s a good thing they aren’t real.” He walked to the doorway, but only made it about halfway.
Miguel suddenly doubled over in pain, a dramatic and very convincing groan emitting from his throat. They all watched on in concern as he jerked upright, arching his back. He unshed his claws with a dramatic motion of his hands. A deep, low chuckle left his lips as he slowly turned towards the group.
“Well well well, it would seem that Miguel is no longer with us,” he said in a threatening tone. He caught Peter’s gaze and flashed a sharp grin, winking. He addressed the rest of them, “But he wanted me to tell you: run.” He really didn’t have to tell them twice.
They scattered like mice, and Peter easily caught Miles in the rush. He was giggling before he even touched him, but the laughter doubled once he dug into his ribs.
Miguel was able to snatch Pavitr by the collar of his shirt, yanking him back and into his clutches. He clawed at his belly and Pav immediately let out a giggly shriek.
They carried on like this for some time, playing this odd game of chase. Every once in a while, Peter would glance at Miguel and see the way he was smiling and actually laughing along with the rest of them.
Maybe Peter should get “possessed” more often.

gwen stacy x spidergirl!reader
summary: gwen meets your little brother for the first time (・ω・)
warnings: afab!reader, orphan reader, makeout session.
A/N: idk man I just want gwen to wife me up fr.
♡♡♡
ALL YOUR LIFE, you've only ever saw your brother in your future. There were other people, of course. Whatever friends left that you you haven't ghosted or the ones that haven't left you at the time. But the only constant present you've ever considered in the decisions you make for yourself, has always been your brother.
You were orphaned at 14. Technically only your mother had died in the bus accident, but you can barely remember your father's face, he was dead in your mind.
When Miguel scouted you in, you saw how he tiptoed around your story, and how he tried to sympathise with you, but if you were being honest, you can't really remember how you managed to raise your brother on your own for 3 and a half years while also learning to manage your newfound powers. You knew you it was hard, but you also knew that before you joined the Spider Society, every decision you made was for survival, it was your natural instinct.
There were no space in your life for you to sit around and be a child, nor were there any time to consider every emotional and mental consequences your choices could've provoked. You had to grow up. You had a 3 year old to raise then.
Once you've joined Miguel, you thought you'd finally find some sense of peace within yourself, with all the security and stability the spider society provided.
But coming home to an apartment you've been provided after your first mission, all you felt at the sight of your clothes, arranged in an actual closet instead of a duffel bed, and your brother sleeping in a room he could finally call his own, was nothing, except for a terrible and tremendous stab of pain in your chest.
It was all worth it for him, you truly believed that. And yet you felt like it wasn't worth anything to you.
The strangeness of feeling so alone around a place filled with so many people. You didn't know the first thing about making friends, or having hobbies. In fact, you weren't even sure if you knew what you really looked like anymore, with all the crime fighting and changing hotels every week, you didn't really have the time to be looking in the mirror. It was terrifying.
And yet despite all of that, the universe has somehow managed to slip in an angel shaped as a blonde and witty girl in your life. Somehow she was a lot more shittier in starting up conversations than you were, but from the first glance you shared with Gwen, a mutual understanding was formed.
And from there, a bond was made.
You love early mornings, even when you were often alone, the hours spent after the clocked reaches 11pm have always felt loud, and suffocating. Shops are fully opened and streets are filled with people off to work. So every day, like an automatic alarm clock, you'll find yourself waking up around 7 to 8am to fully enjoy that morning glory.
You've seen the sun sparkle everday in your life, but never have you seen it shine this beautifully through your light blue curtains. Looking below it, your eyes meet the sleeping form of Gwen Stacy by your side.
She was snoring lightly, and though it annoyed you at first, it was also a subtle reminder to you that she was there, next to you, as you tossed and turn in your bed trying to get used to the alien feeling of sleeping with someone else besides your smaller sized brother sharing your bed.
Checking the time on your phone, large numbers of 9:15 reflects on your eyes. making you let out a low sigh.
You came home and slept late last night. Arriving to your apartment through a portal past midnight, hand in hand with Gwen as you introduce her to your house, and to your roon.
It was a Saturday, you comforted yourself. And you were in your bed, making out with the most beautiful girl you've seen, what's the rush anyways. The sudden slam opening of your door jolts you up, and enters from there, a very loud and jumpy 7 year old who was expecting the joyous feeling of finally being able to wake up earlier than his older sibling and getting to brag about it.
He halts on his step when he sees the stranger at your side, who is now wide awake thanks to the slammed door.
"God's sake, what did I say about knocking?" You scolded while getting yourself out og bed, toes clencing at the cold tiles when your feet reaches the floor.
"There's someone next to you, can you see her?" He asks, ignoring you.
Gwen's face was dazed and confused, her eyes were squinting and she wasn't showing any signs of getting up. "Yeah I see her." You replied, walking over to him. "That's my buddy, yeah? Be nice to her."
You hear a incoherent mumble from him as he remains staring at her strangely.
"Why don't you help me get the eggs out? You can help me make breakfast?" You suggested, turning him around and kissing the back of his head. "Is she getting breakfast too?" He asks while walking away to the kitchen, his loud voice bouncing off the walls. "Yes, please." You shouted back to him before moving towards your girl again.
"Sorry about that." You spoke with a much hushed tone. Gwen has her upper body up and againts the headboard, eyes fully open as she takes you in under the sun's glow. "No it's fine, I actually forgot you had a brother to be honest." She admits, smiling as you crawl onto the bed towards her. "Really? I thought I must've been talking about him too much that everyone probably has his name memorised." You chuckled. She hummed and shook her head.
You let your fingers intertwine with her laid out ones, closing your fists into hers. "Do you like eggs?" You whisper at her, leaning in closer to her face. "Yeah, I do." She whispers back, booping your nose. "I also like your brother, he's cute." She adds.
A laugh sprouts out of you as your foreheads lay againts eachother's. "Oh no, he's a real fox once you get to know him, next thing I know you two will be teaming up againts me." She snorts and pulls away slightly to properly look at your face. "Also buddy?" She teases, recalling your early words. "I had my tongue down your throat like-" You groaned and shoved her playfully trying to hide your blossoming smile.
"Oh yeah, sure, lets tell him that." You intererject sarcastically. She rolls her eyes and presses a kiss on your cheek before climbing off the bed where you're still on.
She walks over to your desk and then to your vanity, last night's crumpled shirt still on. "You have a vinyl player." She noted, pulling out your vinyls.
"Japanese Breakfast-" She reads, "and Mitski. Of course you like Mitski." You huffed at her words, nearing her. "What's that supposed to mean?" Gwen makes an incomprehensible noise and shrugged her shoulders. "I don’t know, like, you're, emo?" You choked out a laugh, eyes widening at her explanation. "What?" You breathed out, still laughing. Gwen joins in with a giggle as she tries to reason.
"I've never seen you in anything but black, I mean except right now." She gesturesnto your teal shirt. "Also, having a Mitski vinyl is already one of the requirements, I think."
"Anddd, Radiohead? You're a cliche."
You scoffed, pulling her away from your vinyl player towards the door. "You would know." Gwen gasps loudly. "What is that supposed to mean?" You only smile while pushing her to kitchen with your arms around her waist, holding her from behind.
The smell of eggs fill your nostrils when you entered the kitchen, untangling your hands from Gwen, you swore under your breath before sprinting to your brother, cracking eggs on the pan. "I told you to get the eggs out only." Pulling him away from the pan, you tell him to take a seat while you handle the eggs.
"I've seen you do it, I know how to make them myself." He mumbles. "I can hear you." You voice out. "Elephant" He tries again. You gave him a glance, frowning. "I heard that too?" "Good." He responds.
Hearing Gwen chuckling quietly, you spare her a glare too. "Just like I said, already teaming up."
Your brother hops off his seat after a long minute staring at Gwen from the fisheyed view his glass of water gave, Making her eyes look ten times bigger than they are.
"My sister says you're her buddy." He says it like it's a question. Gwen raises a brow at him. "Did she? I don't know, I think we're a little bit more than buddies." You tense, turning around to glare at her again. "Gwen-" you called out in a warning tone.
"You're best buddies?" Your brother's voice speaks before shw could. "Oh my god." You groaned to yourself. Gwen actually laughs at that. "Yeah, something like that." He analyses her answer until he decided it was good enough. "Okay, she's never had any friends before." This time you actually spin around towards them.
"Dude." You chastised him. "I have friends, you've met them!" You defended yourself as he starts to giggle loudly at your offended state. "No you don't." He affirms, making you stick out your tongue at him before placing the plates of breakfast on the table.
"Don't worry little dude, I can tell." Gwen tells him, the both of them giving you a top from bottom look.
"One more word and I'm throwing both of you out." Your brother has the decency to look scared before digging into his meal, but Gwen only grins at you widely before winking. She also notices how much your brother likes to kick people's feet under the table and then immediately blaming someone else when you scold him. "Your buddy did it! My feet can't even reach you!" He yelled. "Yes it can, I can literally feel your tiny toes right now, don't make me kick you back." You threatened, earning another kick before he seriously stops.
Once everyone has finished eating, you went straight to do the dishes, profusely refusing any help from Gwen, enjoying the bits of control in your life you feel whenever you're cleaning up things.
"Can I show Gwen my spidergirl collection?" Your brother begged. You fight againts a grin, saying yes to him.
Despite keeping a very strict no contact rules you had for authoritative figures and the press, your New York has still found a way to capitalize off of you, which was the Spidergirl Dolls that came with many different stylesnof clothing fron the same theme of your suit.
Gwen gives you a smile and a thumbs up before following him, his voice echoing from the hall as he explains the difference of the dolls. "-and this other doll has a samurai sword too-", you shook your head.
How the hell did they even came up with these concepts?
Finishing off the last few dishes, you make your way to the hall, where both of your favourite people are sitting crossed legged on the flower patterned carpet.
"What's up here?" You ask him as you crouch down to sit.
"The sky." He jokes. "Funny." You respond dryly. Gwen gives you a look that says 'I wonder where he gets it from', making you toss a doll at her that she catches easily, smiling.
Gwen turns to your brother, holding up a caped spidergirl doll. "How much are these anyways, where im from, these kind of figurines are expensive." He looka at her dumbly and shrugged. "Figyu-?" She ruffled his hair, "Never mind."
Moving to sit closer to her, you explain the pricing. "If you buy directly from the store, they definitely cost like a $100 or more, unfortunately I don't think even the real spidergirl would've been give a discount." You explain, hinting that your brother has no idea about your secret identity.
Gwen snorted at your last sentence. "Foul, so what, you bought fake ones?" You slapped a hand across your chest, feigning hurt. "No, excuse you, I bought them second hand. You have no idea how many people there are online, giving up good quality figurines for less than $50." Gwen responds with a knowing 'ahh' while nodding her head. "That makes sense."
"Most of these were bought for his birthday, though I think this year he'd like something else, hm?" You question from his side, wiggling your brows.
"I want a Transformers." He answers simply. "A trans what?" Gwen exclaims, confused.
You smiled at her face expression that was similar to a terrified cat, eyes widening in a bewildered manner. "A Transformers." You repeat aloud. "It's a car robot, like its a car that turns into a giant robot." You were describing it horrendously, but it got the job done. "I don't think we have that in my place." Gwen justifies her reaction. "Are you from loser planet?" Your brother asks, receiving stutters from a baffled Gwen and a embarrassingly loud giggle from you.
"I'm from a very normal and cool place alright." You share a look with your brother, side eyeing her. "I saw that." She calls out. "No you didn't!" He yells out all of the sudden before getting up and running to his room.
You flinch at his movements and shouted loudly, "Where are you going?" After a few seconds of loud breathing and feet stomping, he finally responds. "Im showing her our Transformers CDs!"
"Oh." You exhange a look with Gwen. "Looks like you're in for a ride, feeling alright for a movie?" She looks suprised but accepts the offer easily. "Bring in the trans cars."
---
The little boy lasted two hours before passing out. His head on Gwen's lap triggered a slight jealousy in you. Although knowing that he will grow up and eventually meet new people he'd be fond of more than you, it was still jarring to see it play out right in front of your eyes.
You reach your arms out gently to him, "Let me take him to bed." You whisper to Gwen who only responds with an okay.
He's deep into slumber as you carry him into his room and gently place him onto his bed. After fluffing out his pillow, you let go of your palms holding on his head, letting it gently fall onto the soft material.
Gwen's footsteps are quiet behind you, the small sound of the creaking door tells you she's there.
Getting back up on your feet aftet tucking your brother in, you spin around to the curious girl who's eyes are roaming his walls. "Did he draw this?" She giggled, pointing at a drawing you made. "I love him but this literally looks like a deformed Mickey Mouse."
She glaces to you in hope of sharing a laugh but immediately turns quiet when she notices your frown. "That's mine you dipshit." You snapped and walked over to flick her forehead.
"Ouch, sorry." She apologizes in a groan. "It does look like a deform-" you shove her out of the room before closing the door behind you.
"It is not a rat, its a bear." She grins at your pouting face. "Whatever you say."
You thought she'd be opening a portal back to her universe by now. How is her father now worried? Does he not see what's he's been gifted with?
It was visibly dark outside, the clock barely striking 10pm yet. You'd spent the whole night yesterday with eachother, and the whole day too, binging Transformers movies. If it were you in her shoes, with someone else that wasn't her, you would've left much earlier, the tiring efforts of socialising was usually worst than any weekly villain.
She stops walking when she realizes you've halted in your steps behind her. Her head tilts to look at you. "What's wrong? You don't want to sleep?" She asks.
You open your mouth to speak, but nothing leaves your lips. Gwen's face contorts anxiously as she turns around towards you. "What's wrong?" She asks again. You force yourself to talk. "I want to sleep." Silence fills the space between you and her for a solid minute. "So do I." Gwen finally decides to say cautiously.
Your shoulders drops, letting your strained body and features relax. "Yeah, okay. Let's sleep." Gwen is cut off before she coukd even start as you continue where your words left off by intertwining your fingers with hers and leading the way to your bed. She says nothing about your behaviour after, accepting your returning affections. "If you wanted to makeout instead, just say that." She jokes earning a tired chuckle. "After that long ass movie? No, I'm wrecked."

THE FOGGY APPEARANCES MASTERPOST
So I decided, after literal years of relying on places like the marvel wiki and comicvine to look for and double check Foggy Nelson's appearances throughout the marvel universe, to go and make a comprehensive list of his appearances outside of the main Daredevil title, counting Daredevil limited series and one off stories, along with cameos and alternate universes. The intention was to streamline the process for myself so i dont have to scour through pages and pages every time I wanna remember which comic that one thing happened, but hey, why not make the process of finding comics easier for people who aren't as deranged as I am? So here I made this post, from a real Fog-head to other Fog-heads out there, listing every issue outside of the Daredevil title (as it is more straightforward to find him, and extremely long to type on this list) he appears in, from barely there cameos to central roles, sorted by whether they are set in Earth 616 or not, and in no particular order. This is simply a list to serve as a guide to find him, it is not a curated list so the quality varies wildly, but I hope you're all as curious as I was to find all the most obscure and niche Foggies out there. Enjoy :)
EDIT 1: The original post had been published without one of my alterations to the draft saving, so if you reblogged it without this edit, the list was missing 14 titles.

Talk about your fanfics ask:
1, 3, 9, 12
Thank you for asking this! I am always delighted to talk about my stories.
What story (stories?) are you writing rn that you’ll most likely publish next?
Probably the ever-elusive original novel, honestly. After my current fanfic projects, I don't have any more planned, though that doesn't mean I won't get walloped with a new idea soon. But I'm going to start a new arc of A Lot Can Happen In Twenty Years with a completely new character as the bad guy soon, so I guess that sort of counts since that story is more of a catchall for shorts set in the same universe anyway.
3. What tropes do you like writing about the most?
Answered here.
9. Top three fics you’ve written (in author’s opinion)?
AUGH. How can I pick just three? But...if I HAVE to choose...
First place MUST go to The War of the Ring, my massive LOTR rewrite and probably, if you applied thumbscrews, the story I'd admit is my actual favourite out of all the ones I've written.
Second and third place are a lot harder for me to decide on, because my favourite fic is usually the one I'm writing right now! I managed to narrow things down a bit by picking a favourite from each of the fandoms I've written for and comparing those, but that only managed to reduce the number of contenders to five.
Help.
You know what, you're getting all five (in no particular order because IT'S TOO HARD TO PICK OKAY).
Oath of Fealty, a Dune ghost story that I'm very fond of because I imitated the original's made-up chapter quotes and it involves one of my favourite characters in the novel! Book canon, but it's canon compliant for the first movie too.
Kad'au, one of the entries in my Cin Vhetin series, featuring Obi-Wan raising Luke, Jedi-Mandalorian bonding, grief, healing, Jedi history, and hope.
Bullets and Reactors, a fix-it fic for The Hunt for Red October which largely consists of a very tired submarine captain dealing with the aftermath of Shenanigans while trying to make sure that none of the self-sacrificing idiots he's acquired dies before he can get them all home.
Our Fathers Lied, canon-compliant Spider-man 3 angst. Mostly on this list because the title is taken from a terribly beautiful and grievous poem by Rudyard Kipling that fits the main character so perfectly that I almost couldn't believe it when I found it.
Kintsukuroi, a Bucky-centric fic about grief, hope, and picking up the broken pieces of what you had to build something new. Also features Shuri being awesome.
So...yeah, that's a lot more than you asked for, but I couldn't pick just one, darnit!
12. Write another line in your WIP (rude, productive, but okay).
Oy! Rude! (Just kidding.) Here's the line:
Someone will need to turn the power back on as soon as he's contained, Gwen had said about Max, but Harry was starting to have serious doubts about whether Max could be contained.
Ask game is here.

Into The Spider-Verse: Spider-Gwen (Edge of Spider-Verse #2)
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy true beliviers! We're back into the spider-verse just in time for national women's month and the third of our main trio of spiders: Gwen Stacey, the spectacular Spider-Woman, referred often to as Spider-Gwen to disguish her from the various earth 616 spider-women before she was rebranded Ghost Spider.
Tumblr media
Yeah Spider-Gwen is a lot to unpack, so let's take it from the stop. Spider-Gwen is a variant of Gwen Stacey, who you may remember from some adaptions as the Amazing Spider-Man films, being peter's prop for that hilarious dance number in spider-man 3 that's in my eyes even more rediculous than his saturday night fever schtick, and from cartoons appearing as an updated version of her classic self in Specatcular Spider-Man and as Spider-Gwen in Ultimate Spidey, Marvel's Spider-Man, Spidey and HIs Amazing Friend and Marvel Rising.
For those less familiar with the comics, Gwen Stacey was peter's very second love intrest. Gwen was introduced late into Steve Ditko's run as one of the mileu of jackasses constantly taunting peter parker, this time as he entered college. As seen with Amazing Fantasy at the time peter was a loner Dottie, a rebel, who was mostly picked on. He had one girlfriend briefly, Betty Brant, but after her brother died she became paranoid about him taking pictures of spider-man, blaming spider-man for his death and worrying he'd lead to Peter's. So really.. Aunt may was all peter had for the first 30 or so issues.
Once Ditko left though Lee decided to shake things up as peter had entered college. Since new Artist John Romita drew characters a bit more handsomely, he decided to expand peter's friend group: Harry Osborn, who picked on him previously, decided he had it wrong about peter and genuinely tried to befriend the guy, serving as a nice contrast to the various assholes. It also made sense: people who are withdrawn or feel trapped in the high school hiearchy can often find friends easier in College, where people may be open to trying new thems or not bogged down by history. Granted Peter also had flash there as a rival , Lee coudln't take all his pain away or he woudln't be peter, but he now had a friend.. and soon had love intrests.
Peter soon ended up in a brief archie style love triangle between Mary Jane Watson, at the time a viacious party animal who'd been oft hinted at in a running gag where May tried to set them up and Peter assumed "nice girl" meant
Tumblr media
Which has aged like fine egg left on a sidewalk for 9 days. This is where Gwen came in. Gwen like harry realized she might of misjudged peter especially after finding out he snubbed her and harry at first because Aunt May was sick, as part of the legendary "If This Be My Destiny" three parter. The two dated for a long time and she was a fan faviorite with many of a fan, some who'd get promoted to managment, preferring her over MJ. The thing was in the original comics.. Gwen was pretty one note. She was just "nice" and "love intrest". See while stan lee was good at MANY things, creative worlds, working with great artists, showmanship, coming up with brilliant premises for characters… he was absolutely awful at writing women , at least during the silver age. Most of his women's main trait's were "love intrest" or "girl" or "getting overly emotoinal". Their powers were often limited as was their influence, with sue storm ONLY being able to turn invsible at first before gaining her forcefields, and Jean Grey's telekensis being very limited. While Janet Van Dyne got better with her stings and stuff, she was often depicted as flighty. Gwen is , as you can see, far from his worst but is just kinda there to be the "good girl" in contrast to mj at first, then to just cause friction with peter whenever his double identity impcats their romance. She was a plot device, not a person.
She kept on like this till a new writer jumped on board Gerry Conway. Conway had decided someone needed to die as it'd been a while since uncle Ben and while George Stacey, gwen's dad, had in the line of duty, he wasn't close to peter and was mainly killed to drive a wedge betwen him and Gwen. So he ended up deciding on Gwen to both motivate the poor boy and to clear up the cast a bit. So Gwen became famous.. for her death, the legendary "The night gwen stacey died" which I showed the utmost respect and reverence to in my amazing fantasy #15 review
Tumblr media
The story is incredibly well crafted though, and the art is gorgeous. It's only weakness.. is being a MASSIVE example of Women in Refregirators syndrome, with Gwen being killed to motivate peter and not having any real agency in her death. Said death at least would haunt peter for the rest of his career and still comes up on occasion. There were clones, terrible retcons not worth mentoining and other things involving gwen, but she remained dead and still is…. in the 616.
Thankfully marvel had a merry multiverse and Dan Slott had plans to explore that in an upcoming event comic Spider-Verse, which while sharing a name and vauge premise of uniting a bunch of spider people with the movie, is nothing like it and involves the spider-person hutning inheretors. I have not read it as it was at a time when Dan Slott's run on the book took a massive dive, so I can't really speak for it's quality. But good event or no it did give us a lot of great new spider-people to go with established variants like Spider-Ham, Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Man Noir, and Gwen was one of them.
Gwen was an editor's suggestion and a brilliant one: Take the biggest victim in spider-man history , and make HER the one who gets bit by the spider. All Dan Slott really had was the idea to give her a trench coat costume and the red and blues, but the actual making of her went to Jason Latour.
Tumblr media
For context as I found out in my research… Jason Latour is a sexually harassing creep. At 2017's Thought Bubble fest, he followed around artist Lauren Tracey who at the time was in her early 20's to his 40's just to add to it, and stalked her, then kissed her against her will. After Tracey revealed the allegations, Latour tried to claim he didn't remember the incident.. only for tons of others to come forward and reveal he was also creepy twoards them or friend sof theres. They likely knew.. but didn't have the power to come forward. Latour weakly apologized and hasn't worked for Marvel since. It was deeply disapointing to find out someone I respected… was an ashole who used his power to harass women, make them feel deeply uncomfortable and affect their careers. He was one of MANY in the industry who did this and I doubt he'll be the last I talk about but it's super depressing he used his power like this and he can promptly fuck himself.
I won't be letting this affect my judgement of the comic itself. It's hard and i'll likely look like this the whole itme i'm typing this
Tumblr media
But I have to judge the issue by it's own merits, while still stressing the creator isn't to be worshipped. It's a good object lesson to remember that terrible people can make good art. I try to avoid covering that art to glorify them. It's why despite being a massive x-men fan and having grown up with the story you likely wont' see Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men covered on here unless someone comissions it. Like this it's an important part of comics history and can't just be.. forgotten, but the creator shouldn't be on any sort of pedestal for it unless he truly and completely has repented for what he's done and even then what he's done shoudln't be forgotten in the process.
Now getting into Prailne's and Dick's creative process, Pralines and Dick decided to really swing for the fences. This was an alternate universe.. so he decided to make it really alternate. Instead of a cheery if often weepy coed, Gwen was a troubled college freshman who was reseved and steady out of costume and freer in it.. at a terrible cost. He and Rodregiuz gave her a hood to symbolize the weight she carries and acccents of purple and blue to really help the costume pop against the white, while also giving her the mask to keep up the "anyone can wear the mask" motif from Peter and Miles.
The result wasn't a hit with Dan But he ended up eating his words and fully agreeing they made the right call. The result was an INSTANT hit from her first apperance and quickly got an ongoing. I MIGHT talk about it in the future, it's tricky with Pralines and Dick being the writer. For now though let's go under the cut and into the spider-verse as we explore the startling origin of Spider-Gwen.
So we open with Band Practice for the Mary Janes, the band Gwen is drummer for. Her bandmates are naturally this universe's Mary Jane Watson, along with Glory Grant, a friend of peters in the main universe who worked as Jonah's asstiant and Betty Brant, who I previously mentioned and also worked as Jonah's assitant.
The band plays their signature , and likely only, original song,
youtube
I mean that would rule but naturally instead it's called Face it Tiger. I.. I will neve rbe tired of that being a thing nor imagining waht this riot grrl esque song sounds like in my head. Pralines and Dick makes a smart move here: instead of just having the issue go through Gwen's origin, like it seems what other one shots of edge of the spider-verse i've glanced at do, we get the origin in one beautiful two page spread, told quick, susicntly but still with enough emotoinal punch. We get some of the blanks filled in later, but it's enough to make the story work and get a sense of who THIS gwen is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also like all the small touches here: the times square having advertisments for Janet Van Dyne with her wearing her classic outfit and signifying she's still the wasp here, and Dzzler. Just little nods. I also like the MC Hammer joke.
On the origin itslef it's great following most of the same beats btu cleverly twisting peter parker: We saw what he was during Amazing Fantasy: he was resentful, alone, and had no one. Here we see where that might of gone where he instead ends up as the alternate version of one of his own villians, dying tragically trying to be popular and loved like Gwen's alter ego.
Glory gets gwen to snap out of it but she can't open up for obvious reasons. MJ here.. is more of a dick, lacking the main universe MJ's better nature and instead being a snippy mean girl.
We then get a fairly sad scene of reflection, of Gwen sitting on the billboard, feeling it was her fault peter died. Much like with Uncle Ben and our peter, that's not necessarily true, but you can undrestand her guilt: he followed in her example. her DEFENDING him isn't her fault, nor him feeling insecure over it, that's just good ole toxic masculinity, but she still went into it for wealth and fame and showed what someone trying to do the same could end up as.
We then get her talking to her father, who views her music more as a distraction, and wants her to focus, while Gwen understandably.. dosen't want to do that. We also find out George Stacey.. is the one hunting gwen.
Tumblr media
We also get a nice brief scene of her and a cop trying to shoot her. She webs him up and wisecracks ab it, showing she's far more assertive behind the mask and gets some freedom from it… though it also feels like a coping meachanism, a way to avoid the pain she's going through from Peter's death and her own father hunting her and not supporting her. To try and use the freedom much like peter does to shake off her torubles. It's this kind of thing that shows Pralines and Dick REALLY gets what makes a spider-man story work and what makes these some of the best.
So we cut to our villians for this issue: The Rhino and Matt Murdock.
Tumblr media
Yeah one of the bigger swings of this universe, and one of the reasons I enjoy it so much, is that rather than just go the normal alternate universe route we see in most comics of "this reality but one things diffrent", Pralines and Dick switches it up and has a BUCNH of little thigns be diffrent that are not remotely impacted by the fact Gwen is who she is here: The Fantastic FOur are non existant with Ben Grimm being a cop while Reed Richards is a child progedy, Wolverine and Kitty Pryde are shield agents with Logan being a functionally immnortal samurai, Howard T Duck is the president of the united states, and Janet Van Dyne is retired from superheroics and instead super wealthy, Sam wilson is a woman and the captain america who came here from the 40's, and so on. I love how many swings this place takes.
Matt Murdock is the biggest though: instead of becoming an upstanding young man, he was blinded in an accident that also killed his mom and his dad's death happened earlier.. and the Hand got a hold of him. As a result this Matt is everytihing the 616 matt isn't: cruel, selfish while still being every bit as compitent and charasmatic and as we find out later, EVERY bit as powerful. Matt is Gwen's arch enemy and the big bad of this universe, serving as the mouth of sauron for the kingpin.. while clearly planning to dethrone his old boss nad rule.
As for what he's up to with Rhino, whose grey skinned here instead of in a rhino costume it's simple: He's putting a hit out on George. He wants him dead both because the Good Captain's an issue for their operations and general.. and as an issue for Spider-Woman he could be leverage to bring her on their side.
That night it's a concert and instead of waiting for gwen whose just a tad late.. her band goes on anyway
Tumblr media
Gwen soon has bigger issue's though as The Rhino shows up to kill her dad and while she's able to stop that, he bear hugs her, nearly crushing her.. but like any spidey, she has a near unstoppable will in he and thus cleverly beats him.. by drumming her way out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She then FINISHES it by punching the fucker through a wall.
Tumblr media
God damn is every spider person's first fight going to one up the next one? I mean we've gone from scaring a thug to near death, to fighting an electric man who knocked out their universes avengers equivleent with ease, to drumming a guy , beating him some more than putting him thorugh that fucking wall, Frank Murphy Style. By the time we get to spider-ham is he just going to whip out a machine gun on funny animal mysterio? We'll fine out I suppose
It's here I gotta stop to comment on Robi Rodregueiz' art. It's gorgeous, stylezed, being very remincent of ditkos but with more of a colorful pop to it. It's kinetic, in your face and perfect for the character and a large reason why i didn't nope out of this; the character isn't just good because of Pralines and Dick, but because of Rodieguesz art really caputring her form her pain to her punches perfectly.
SO gwen saved her dad.. problem is her dad dosen't know it's her and believe sin due process. Gwen rightly points out the problem in that: she didn't kill peter but thanks to JJJ a blood thirsty mob thinks she did and will try and kill her before trial, and that's not getting into the cops who tried to shoot her on sight. Captain Stacey vows to bring her in no matter what it takes.. so Gwen has to pull her trump card, throwing earlier words he said back at him.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It's a beauitful speech that sums up why she's like this: it's her responsiblity> She has the power, she has to use it and going to jail just to prove she's innocent helps no one. Her innocence helps no one. But this.. this can help everyone. George reluctantly lets her go and an emotoinal ending, Gwen's father letting her go both of their futures uncertain and their relationship as father and daughter even more so…. is undercut a bit by this guy.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Yeah look I know who this is, Spider-UK he's also a captain britan, defenders of the crown and the multiverse, long story that naturally for me is x-men adjacent. But to anyone coming in just to see this character after one of her many adaptation apperances or just ucrious is going to be fucking confused. I get this wans't MEANT to lead into an ongoing.. but even story wise puncuating a heartwrenching ending with british spider-man creeping on some random balcony shadowed ominosuly makes him come off more like he's going to add Gwen to some horrifying collection than you know, recurit her to save the universe.
Gwen would go on to the frequently hinted at ongoing and greater hearts btu as a start.. this issue is fantastic. It gets who she is across quick, makes her distinct from our gwen, and all the better than her honestly, and sets a lot of what would make the character famous in stone. It's not a huge shock every version of gwen since has been this nor that this is one of the best spider-man stories in the last decade. Pralines and Dick may suck.. but this story dosen't and is worth checking out for the art alone. Just maybe get it second hand or something.
Next Time we thankfully have a creator who HASN'T sexually harassed a woman as next week we take a look at SP/DR from my boy Gerard Way. Until then keep on swingin and thanks for reading.

Best spider-gwen comic? Alternatively, where should one start reading?
Oooooh !! So, my favorite Spider-Gwen comic is issue #31 from the second Latour/Rodriguez run. When I became a Gwen Stacy fan I became a Gwen Stacy fan, including the original Gwendolyne Maxine Stacy from the 616 universe! I won't go too deep into what happens because spoilers, but our lovely Spider-Gwen runs into her 616-self and gets the pep talk she needs from 616!Gwen and it's an incredibly lovely scene that has a cool pay off at the end of the Murderdock arc.
As for the Spider-Gwen reading order... I'll list the trade paperbacks & the issues they collect! Keep in mind I'll only be doing the original Latour/Rodriguez runs as I am not the biggest fan of McGuire's take on Gwen, but I'll have a lil blurb at the bottom.
Spider-Gwen #0 Most Wanted - Collecting Edge of Spider-Verse #2 and Spider-Gwen #1-5
Spider-Gwen #1 Greater Power - Collecting Spider-Gwen/Radioactive Spider-gwen #1-6. They re-launched Spider-Gwen in 2015 under Radioactive Spider-Gwen, so it's a new series. Modern comics are notoriously confusing because of stuff like this.
Spider-Women - Collecting Spider-Women Alpha #1, Spider-Gwen #7, Silk #7, Spider-Woman #6, Spider-Gwen #8, Silk #8, Spider-Woman #7 and Spider-Women Omega #1. This cross-over is incredibly important, unlike some cross-overs, because it sets the stage for the rest of Gwen's original run (Latour/Rodriguez) and without it you miss incredibly important details. If you cannot get the TPB/Compilation and are reading each individual issue, I listed them in order!
Spider Gwen #2 Weapon of Choice - Collects #9-13 of Radioactive Spider-Gwen
Spider-Gwen #3 Long Distance - Collects issues #14 and #15 of Radioactive Spider-Gwen, Spider-Gwen Annual #1, and All-New Wolverine Annual #1. You honestly do not NEED to read the annuals, but they're cute!
Spider-Man/Spider-Gwen Sitting in a Tree - Collecting Spider-Man #12, Spider-Gwen #16, Spider-Man #13, Spider-Gwen #17, Spider-Man #14, and Spider-Gwen #18. This is honestly one of my least favorite cross-overs, because unlike ITSV/ATSV the relationship between Miles and Gwen feels both forced and rushed. It is not overall important to her story, and skippable, but there are some characters introduced in Spider-Gwen #18 who will show back up in the late Radioactive Spider-Gwen run,
Spider-Gwen #4 - Predators. Collecting Spider-Gwen #19-23.
Spider-Gwen #5 - Gwenom. Collecting Spider-Gwen #24-29.
Spider-Gwen #6 - The Life of Gwen Stacy. Collecting Spider-Gwen #30-34.
And that's it for the original Latour/Rodriguez Spider-Gwen run! After that Seanan McGuire picked up the reigns for Spider-Gwen in Spider-Gwen Ghost-Spider & later Ghost-Spider, but I am not the biggest fan in how she chose to portray MJ and Gwen, specifically their relationship. I do encourage newer fans of Spider-Gwen to still pick up her work (It's very simple, Spider-Gwen Ghost Spider has ten issues that are fairly self-contained, and then Ghost-Spider I think only had twenty? before it was canceled) and make their own judgements.

Tagged by @fezwearingjellybananas! thank you!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
117 (115 of which are solo authored)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
810,361 (717,002 of which are solo authored, and more than a quarter of that is just mitm 😂)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Whatever catches my attention long enough to give me a fic idea that I finish writing, honestly! I'm fully of the 'scroll twice to get to the end of my fandoms list' writer. But for specifics I'll try to just stick to the past two years, where I've collaborated on fic for USS Interpreter - a cast of original Star Trek ttrpg characters, the Spider Gwen comics (and Squirrel Girl comics), Star Trek Strange New Worlds (and Discovery, and a bit of TOS), Spider Man 2017, Raimi Spider Man, The Flash, IDW Transformers, The Untamed by way of Murderbot fusion/crossover, and Arcane
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Does It Hurt? - MCU CACW fix-it fic, with Tony and Bucky, and tonyrhodey
Don't Miss It - Ford and Mabel Gravity Falls Weirdmaggedon fic, optimistic speculation at the time
Meet in the Middle - My very, very, veeery long-ongoing driftrod fic
More than This - Aro (and ace) Obi-Wan
What You (Don't) Need to Hear - Aro Stanford and Dipper Pines
I do love that 2/5 of these are aro-centric fic
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I love comments and I enjoy replying, and from talking to regular readers I think it helps encourage folks to comment. It's never something I expect from when I comment on other's fics, I just want to share my appreciation, but I always am happy to get replies myself.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Restraining myself to the past two years for specifics, I think You're Just A Little Boy, my transmasc La'an fic, has the most outright Unhappy Ending - at least for this fic, I might write a more hopeful follow up. I'll throw in when you're gone we won't say a word (but you know that's okay), my alternate future Pike fic, goes in for the most bittersweet, and I've definitely cried the most over it
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I write a lot of happy endings, but they're often threaded with a bit of angst or bittersweetness. Fungus Not-Amongus is altogether pretty delightful fluff for Tilly and Pike, though.
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
I have once or twice, but not for a good long while, I've been quite lucky
9. Do you write smut?
Not yet! Got a project or two down the pipe that might have some, but it's not something I typically write
10. Do you write crossovers?
Yes! All the time. In the past couple years, I've written Ghosts in Your Head, Ghosts in My Head, The Flash fic in a Pacific Rim setting, more of a fusion setting, but I'll count it. Intersections, with Spider Gwen & Squirrel Girl, which are technically both Marvel Comics, but I'll count them as a crossover event in the comics spirit. Artificial Survivor is more of a Untamed fic in a Murderbot fusion setting, but the Murderbot characters are technically alluded to, so I'll count that too. Plus there's the Star Trek/Star Wars crossover with Star Trek OC's I'm helping out on. Generally you can find a lot of crossovers I've written, I find them really fun.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! A reader asked to translate a tonyrhodey fic a few years back
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Given that I specified solo-authored fics above, you can probably guess the answer to that is yes! 😁 I'm co-writing fic about ttrpg Star Trek characters - I play & write Chief Engineer Piper Hawthorne. @severeannoyance is our captain and @plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows is our Star Wars expert for our Star Wars crossover fic.
14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
Given that MITM is 1/4 of my solo wordcount, and I have updated it in the past two years, it's probably gotta be driftrod, at least for this ask. ask me next week, you might get a different answer 😂
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a West Wing / X-Men 2 crossover that's been sitting in docs for many many years. I might release some of the finished scenes at some point, like I did with E2bard, because there's lots of good stuff and I always have fun with the West Wing character voices
16. What’s your writing strengths?
Dialogue, introspection, and replicating particularly strong character and narrative voices
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
I tend to repeat phrases and overuse dashes, and don't expect much setting description XD
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I usually just indicate that something's in another language and keep it in the same language as the rest of the fic - English for me, I'm currently pretty monolingual, but I think other options are perfectly workable for other authors.
Not actually related to the question, but I've gotten comments in other languages or with phrases in other languages, and I always find them an especially high compliment - that my fic was not only worth reading in a language that wasn't someone's first, but that they also put in the time to leave a comment. I usually have to use a bit of google translate and ask my bilingual friends for help translating (thank you), but all the comments have been very nice.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I think I wrote what was Star Wars fanfic for vocab assignments back in middle school, though I didn't know that was what it was called. My first published fic was for Bleach.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Sticking in the past two years, Ghosts in Your Head, Ghosts in My Head is one I'm really proud of. And of course I have to mention Meet in the Middle, something I've stuck with for more than five years at this point.

Happy new year, 2023!
It's been a while last post. I have been super busy by moving house. Finally I finished to make workspace and gaming desk, both are I have been wanted long time. I bought Drapas' desk, A1 size and I use for drawing comics. And I put another desk, I will use for digital tools and packing the webshop things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gaming PC came to my house too. I have to learn how to use windows OS and gaming with keyboard and mouse. I bought DOOM and Halo on Steam, I wanna play soon!
So, while setting up the gaming desk, 2022 was ended. Happy new year, everybody. I hope your 2023 will be fabulous!
I talk about personal stuff, 2022 was half awesome, half terrible year.
About work, it was totally better than past two years. I drew two of Marvel's Voices. And I also drew two of Spider-hero, one of them was first ever gay spider-hero Web-Weaver, I couldn’t be prouder as a queer artist. Another spider-hero was Spider-Gwen aka Ghost-Spider, this is mini series and I'm going to draw first some months of 2023. And I started the journey of transition. I started to going to GIC from August. It was one of the biggest decision in my life.
Terrible things are… almost related to trans hate/transmisia (I decided to use transmisia instead of transphobia) Especially increasing the number of trans hate post on twitter was awful. I already deleted the account though, the takeover by Elon Musk was happened and I read the news about number of hate and discrimination post were increased actually. (To tell the truth I can't believe friends still using that terrible SNS)(Yea, they are majority and maybe don't care so much) I have tried to get better mental illnesses but this became the trigger my mental condition was getting worse again. That time I drunk alcohol a lot for escape from anxiety, so I was worried about being alcoholism if I keep this bad habit. So I asked doctor and started medication. I haven’t drink any alcohol since 9 September. It was good I could stop alcohol before being worse, but I liked drink Japanese sake after work, so I feel like be took away a part of my usual life…
So, my plans of 2023. Anyways I really, really hope getting better my mental illness.
I'll try to get better my mental illnesses. I'll continue to stop drinking alcohol and have meds.
For years I have often been down by mental illness and having meds, may weight was gained and I'm lacking energy for usual life. I will do workouts regularly.
I will reduce relationship with friends… I need keep distance and time. I hope everyone learn about Trans/nonbinary, neurodiversity, and being kind to other people more. I think I'm OK there are creative teams and fans at least. Being alone is better than being treated like I wasn’t there even though I was there for me.
I wanna draw Star Wars again :P
Top Surgery and starting hormone injections!! I don't know when I can get them though…
I'll get 3 tattoos at least.
I really appreciate your support💖 Please be kind to yourself and others, don't stop learning, I'll do them so too:)

20 Questions for Fic Writers
@amethystunarmed tagged me for this!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I've currently got 25 works on there.
2. What’s your total word count?
161, 391! which...wow, that number hits me every time I look at it. I can’t believe I’ve written a whole novel’s length of fanfic this year.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly Hatchetfield and Deltarune, but especially Hatchetfield. The silly little horror-comedy musicals (especially the LiB and Paul) have grabbed me and won’t let go. To the detriment of my WIPs in other fandoms. Oh, and I’ve also written a decent amount of fic for Spiderverse and Dracula! (Our good friend Jonathan Harker, after all.)
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
pas de masque - a pre-canon Spiderverse fic focusing on Gwen's terrible experiences in the Spider-Society, and just what it's like to learn you're doomed in every other universe, and that no one will let you stop it.
The Show Must Go On - a fun little theatre AU for Deltarune, where Susie's been arrested, and the only way for her to not be arrested is to join a club. She chooses theatre, which Noelle is coincidentally the director of. Romance, friendship, and theatre chaos ensues. (also, I LOVE writing Kris in this fic.) It's the fic I've been working on the longest.
what is a god? - my exploration of the Lords in Black, and how they think and treat Hatchetfield and their puppets, written at 12 am after finishing Nerdy Prudes Must Die. Despite that, I’m still pretty proud of it!
used to think about you (everywhere i go) - a post-canon Nimona (movie-verse) fic, in which Nimona gets to work out her complex feelings about Gloreth by standing at her grave. Sometimes therapy is yelling at your ex-bestie's grave, more at 11.
one hell of a normal abnormality - a fic where I wrote Pete actually seeming to care that Ruth and Richie weren't there at Homecoming, with a decent exploration of grief and feeling guilty. Also, I think I was the first one to use the green-hair-after-being-touched-by-Wiggly headcanon.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes, of course! I love comments - you read my whole chapter/fic, and you liked it enough to post your reaction! Amazing, I love you, I would literally die for some commentors.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh, this is hard. Most of the fic I write is angst, so tough to pick. I'd say the real competition is between life underground (it's over now) and always be my favourite ghost. But if I had to choose, it would be the first one, because that ends with Chara literally ripping up their adoption certificate, and thinking they’ll never be a part of the Dreemurr family. And we all know what happens next. :(
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh, this one’s pretty easy. like real people do. It’s a short, canon divergent one shot I wrote for a podcast, Monstrous Agonies that I was super into - even submitted a couple of letters to the podcast I was pretty proud of. It ends with the characters sort-of rekindling their relationship, after accidentally broadcasting them kissing through the radio. It actually managed to predict a decent amount of the actual finale, too!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, I haven't gotten any yet. Hoping that that streak continues.
9. Do you write smut?
Ha! No. And it's probably not going to happen for a long time, if ever. I'm apparently a bit of a nerdy prude myself. I have written at least one fic that's only plot was two characters kissing, though.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I haven’t yet! Maybe someday.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Also, no. Benefits of being a smaller fic writer, I guess.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! But if that ever happens to me, I'm gonna scream
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet! I was thinking of co-writing a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes fic with a friend in real life, though. It was a really good movie, but I haven't made a lot of progress on it.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
You know, I'm really not sure? I mostly read gen fic, but for shipping? I'd have to say probably Noelle/Susie, or Paul Matthews/Emma Perkins? It really depends on the day - I'll read a lot of ships.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
None so far! My WIPs currently are probably going to take a long time, but I plan to finish all of them. Outlines may be bad, but I am determined!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm really good at internal monologues. And along with that, characterization! I get a lot of really sweet comments about it, and I do like writing character-focused pieces! Which is kind of ironic, given that worrying about writing characters wrong was a pretty big reason I didn’t start writing again until this year.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue. Oh my god, every time I try to write snappy dialogue, I have new appreciation for comedians and dialogue-heavy writers. Those people are so talented. Sometimes I act out dialogue I’ve written and I want to throw myself into the sun.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
Look. I took French for five years. But every time I try to speak French, one of my best friends looks like she wants to fight me. I am not great at languages other than English. I am positive that if I tried to write dialogue by myself, I would just resort to DeepL, or Google Translate, and nobody wants that. If I have to write in another language, I'm going to try and get a translator.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Are we counting works posted to ao3, or first fic ever? Because the first fic I ever posted to ao3 was for a podcast, Spirit Box Radio, that I should really relisten to at some point. But my first fandom I ever wrote for was Gravity Falls - the fic's still posted to Quotev, and I have reread it recently. It was a next-generation fic.
...At least younger me was having fun?
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
How dare you ask me to pick? But seriously, probably pas de masque. I know it's cliche to say my most kudos'd fic, but I am super proud of my characterization of Gwen there, and getting to play with pre-canon Spider-Society and what it's like for someone to know they're doomed by the narrative in every other universe.
Okay, who do I know? @acaciapines, @nonbinarycollector, @sherbetflowers, @littlesilentrebel, @am-i-lie, @lilacthebooklover, @noelle-holi-gay, @marvelmaniac715! Please don't feel pressured to respond if you don't want to!
