I am an epileptic, I am disabled, I am a supernatural and marvel fan, I listen to a lot of music, I am photosensitive, I am scared of dying in my sleep, I am a kitchen witch, I am a gardener, I am a dog mom, I am many things and I exist as a disabled person.

July is disability pride month, no celebrities tweet about it, few know about it and if I’m being honest most people don’t want to think about us, let alone talk about us. society is more likely to accept a person who marries a cardboard cutout of a celebrity than a person with a physical, mental,invisible or visible disability. we need to change that, politicians need to step up to end the systemic oppression of disabled people, mentally ill people, people of color, the lgbtq community, and impoverished people more people need to call them out. this is not what the right wing conservatives call a communist agenda, this is a human rights issue. I was taught to stand up to bullies, to stand up for other people even if it means I lose friends or relationships. good core principles are more important than two people who disagree with you. So all in all stand up for me, for your friends, for yourself, and for people you barely know. not because I told you to, not because a celebrity told you to, but because it’s the right thing to do.

Oh wow, I just stood up for myself to an employer for being trans

It was ridiculously hard, and I've never done something like this before, but I wrote a very professional and informative email explaining my needs that were denied earlier, and why it is dangerous as it could lead to outing and what that might entail. Though I may not continue through with taking this job, I am so beyond proud of myself for doing this. It took a huge degree of even accepting and validating myself as trans, which has somehow taken me so many years. As a person who identified as nonbinary the moment I learned it existed and found out I am not just weird or horrible, it took SO. LONG. after that to validate and discover that I am transmasc as well, and consider my needs and dysphoria/euphoria enough to actually act on my social transitioning and standing up for myself regarding name, pronouns, and more. AND I am getting my name legally changed VERY SOON!

I just wanted to write about this as I am astonished by the personal growth I have experienced throughout this past year, and beyond.
