"I have to tell you, sir, that Lady Sybil has found out about the bacon sandwich arrangement. She said to tell you the game was up, sir."
"I am the commander around here, you know," said Vimes, with as much hauteur as he could muster on an empty stomach.
"Yes, sir. But Lady Sybil has a very quiet way of being firm, sir."
"She has, hasn't she," said Vimes as they strolled toward the building. "I'm a very lucky man, you know," he added, just in case Carrot may have got the wrong impression.
"Yes, sir. You are indeed."

It is said of the Goddess Demeter after her daughter Korê (named "Persephone" after being abducted by Hades and brought to the underworld) was stolen from her, that she compromised. She had stated flatly that she would not allow the earth to bear fruit again unless her daughter was returned to her. But, according to the patriarchal myth, when Zeus decided that Persephone should live with her husband (Hades) for three months of the year and pass the other nine months with her mother, Demeter set aside her anger and bade the soil be fertile. But Persephone had tasted of the pomegranate; she was possessed by her husband, and every year when the cold season arrived she went to join him in the deep shadows. The myth expresses the essential tragedy of women after the patriarchal conquest. The male myth-makers presented an illusion of reunion between Demeter and Persephone-Korê. The compromise can be seen as forced upon Demeter, but it was fatal for her to undervalue the power of her own position and set aside her anger, just as it was fatal that she taught the kings of the earth her divine science and initiated them into her divine mysteries. The patriarchal Greek myth-makers (re-makers) constructed a typical phallocratic plot when they (through Zeus) seduced her into the apparently satisfactory—even triumphant—compromise. However, the fact that the daughter was allowed to return for a "period of time" says everything about patriarchy.

I will say, I've seen some folks saying that the legal precedent for "raw" AI art being automatically in the public domain, due to that case with the monkey selfie showing that art not made by a human is auto-PD, would be the "death" of AI art
But speaking with the people who actually care about the art side of AI art, most of us see it as not only a good compromise, but even as a win-win for everyone except the megacorps.
Cause, a lot of us into the ethical side of AI art still aren't much fond of copyright, because most of us are pinko leftist-types. And, it maeks sense from a principle of reciprocity that an artform that draws from the commons (Which is what AI art actually is rather than "stealing," but that's for its own post) should in turn contribute to that commons too.
And if that so happens to let AI artists continue practicing their craft while still preventing megacorps from laying off traditional artists (because megacorps want stuff they can own outright), well, that's three birds with one stone...

The thinking of tankies as well as Putinistas, bothsiderists, and Tucker Carlson fans is illustrated in that meme.
Those are the sort of people who would have sought "compromise" with Hitler.
Speaking of Schicklgruber, France and Britain attempted to compromise with Germany in 1938. The result was the infamous Munich Agreement of September 30th when Czechoslovakia was forced to give up the Sudetenland to Hitler's Germany.
Hitler observed his side of the agreement for just 166 days; on 15 March 1939 German troops occupied the rest of Czechoslovakia without warning. And 11 months and 1 day after Munich, Hitler invaded Poland and World War II began.
You can never sate an imperialist dictator's appetite for more land and power. Defeat of some sort is the only way to stop Putin once and for all.

"Well now, my dear, didn't you once say that a life without danger is a life not worth living?"
Moist patted her hand and said, "Well, Spike, I married you, didn't I?"
"You couldn't resist, could you? It's like a drug. You're not happy unless someone is trying to kill you, or you're in the center of some other kind of drama, out of which, of course, the famous Moist von Lipwig will jump to safety at the very last moment. Is it a disease? Some kind of syndrome?"
Moist put on his meek face as only husbands and puppies can do and said, "Would you like me to stop? I will if you say so."
There was silence until Adora Belle said, "You bastard, you know I can't do that. If you stopped all of that you wouldn't be Moist von Lipwig!"

There are a few rules I know to be true about love and marriage: If you don't respect the other person, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you don't know how to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you can't talk openly about what goes on between you, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. And if you don't have a common set of values in life, you're gonna have a lot of trouble.

415 breweries in the state of Colorado. This one is a mere 20 miles away.
Yes, you’ve read that correctly…14.7% bourbon barrel aged imperial stout. Breckenridge Bourbon barrels for 12 months mind you.
This stuff is absolutely phenomenal, and at $25 a 4 pack (of 12oz cans) it better be.

Golda Meir on Compromise
“I guess we have no choice. Either we do everything that is possible, and may seem to others as impossible, and just give up. Or we do everything that is really impossible and we remain alive. There’s one more basic thing that I think that people outside of Israel must realize, and if they understand and accept that, maybe other things will fall into place.
For instance, we’re not the only people in the world who’ve had difficulties with neighbors; that has happened to many. We are the only country in the world whose neighbors do not say, “We are going to war because we want a certain piece of land from Israel,” or waterways or anything of that kind. We’re the only people in the world where our neighbors openly announce they just won’t have us here. And they will not give up fighting and they will not give up war as long as we remain alive. Here.
So this is the crux of the problem: it isn’t anything concrete that they want from us. That’s why it doesn’t make sense when people say, “Give up this and give up the other place. Give up the Golan Heights,” for instance. What happened when we were not on the Golan Heights? We were not on the Golan Heights before ’67, and for 19 years, Syria had guns up there and shot at our agricultural settlements below. We were not on the Golan Heights! So what, if we give up the Golan Heights, they will stop shooting? We were not in the Suez Canal when the war started.
It’s because Egypt and Syria and the other Arab countries refuse to acquiesce to our existence. Therefore there can be no compromise. They say we must be dead. And we say we want to be alive. Between life and death, I don’t know of a compromise. And that’s why we have no choice.”
