Supported Independent Living Victoria
SIL, or Supported Independent Living, is funding from the NDIS for people with disabilities to live independently. It may be in the form of one person receiving fulltime support living in their own home, or a group of people sharing an apartment together.
Sadly, there are reports of exploitation in boarding houses across Victoria. This needs to stop.
Home Share
Tumblr media
Home share is a form of supported independent living Victoria that matches people with the same needs and interests. It helps reduce loneliness and social isolation, which can have a negative impact on health. It can also save money for people who can no longer afford to live alone.
Many older adults and seniors are referred to home share programs by hospital discharge services. They can be matched with another person of the same age or with someone younger who offers companionship, assistance with household chores, and/or financial compensation. In addition, these programs provide background checks and personal references to ensure that all participants are safe.
Home share can be part of a wider package of support called Supported Independent Living or SIL. This is when a person with an intellectual disability lives in their own home or apartment and receives a certain amount of support each week, usually from two to four hours. This can be combined with residential services such as a community rehabilitation centre.
Residential Homes
Residential Homes are family-like homes in residential neighborhoods where people receive full-time assistance. Residents can live independently within the home, or share it with other people, such as friends or peers. These homes offer increased safety and structure for their residents. They also provide access to a variety of activities and programs that can help them achieve their personal goals and objectives.
Before moving into a shared house, a person must get an OT assessment to determine their needs in the arrangement. The OT will then assess the support worker to housemate ratio in the home, which can be up to 1:7.
SIL funding covers the cost of the support staff in the house. Support is based on the needs of each individual and can range from basic need to complex need. Standard need support provides 24/7 active support including overnight sleepovers and supports managing challenging behaviours. It can also provide intensive positive behaviour support and management of complex medical needs.
Supported Apartments
Apartments are permanent homes, either single or shared and provide individuals with a stable and comfortable environment. Tenants must be self supporting with an income sourced from work (including day treatment, supported or competitive employment), welfare payments and other sources. Individuals pay rent which is a proportion of their Commonwealth Disability Support Pension or Rent Assistance payment.
SIL, also known as Shared Housing, is a housing option provided by the NDIS. It enables people to live independently and safely, with the help of a support worker who visits them daily. People can live in their own home or in one of the many SIL houses around Victoria.
A person can choose to have a varying level of support, ranging from two to four hours a week. This is decided through an OT assessment. SIL houses usually accommodate between two and seven people, with each housemate having their own room. This arrangement is a great alternative to living in a residential care home.
Supported Residential Services
A Supported Independent Living (SIL) service provides a shared house with around the clock support. It offers participants the opportunity to live independently while building their skills and capacity. The NDIS can fund SIL and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). The two services work differently but are distinct in terms of the type of support provided.
Dynamic risk relates to case-specific factors and the compliance history of supported residential services. The department uses a suite of measures including targeted compliance review audit inspections, complaints and incidents to assess dynamic risk.
Before you can move into a SIL house, you must first get an Occupational Therapist to do a thorough assessment of your needs. The OT will determine the number of support workers per person in your house – it could be anywhere from 1:1* to 1:7. Then you will need to find a home that fits those requirements. Lastly, you will need to secure the SIL funding and work out how it will be used.

What Is NDIS Accommodation?
The NDIS is a Government funded scheme that provides people with disability a greater level of support to enable them to live more independently and enjoy life. From medical care to housing, the NDIS is focused on ensuring participants receive the care and supports they need in order to lead fulfilling lives.
The housing component of the NDIS accommodation includes a small program called Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) that focuses on providing housing funding to support capital costs for participants who need homes specifically designed to improve their independence or increase the efficiency of person-to-person support. Only 6% of NDIS participants are eligible for SDA funding, effectively rationing this assistance to those with the highest support needs.
Despite the NDIS being a market-based system, it is still difficult for people with disability to access suitable and affordable housing options that meet their needs. This is due to a lack of awareness and a reluctance on the part of some people with disability to explore their options.
There is a range of different types of housing options available under the NDIS, including supported accommodation, group homes, community access and life skills training. There are also services for carers, family and people with a disability to help them make the right decision.
Many people with a disability choose to stay at home and this is a common option for both adults and children. This is because people with a disability often prefer to be close to their family, especially if they have siblings or children. The NDIS recognises this and enables people with disability to receive funding for in-home support, life skills training, respite care and community access so they can continue to live at home and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
This is an important change for people with a disability because in the past they have been offered a limited selection of housing options beyond block-funded group homes and inappropriate placement in residential aged care.
New specialist disability accommodation is a great solution for both the participants and the investors who buy it. The Government funds the building of these houses and provides the income for the investor, which can be a profitable investment.
A number of different people are interested in buying or investing in SDAs, and some investors are even considering offering the accommodation on a rent to own basis. This can be a great way to provide NDIS participants with their dream home while at the same time receiving Government-backed income that is among the safest assets in the world.
However, there are some challenges for SDA developers and builders that must be taken into consideration before they make this investment. For example, there may be an inflated price for SDAs in certain areas because they are likely to have less competition and are more desirable to potential tenants.
Additionally, SDA providers must comply with strict regulations in order to remain in business. This can include a review of their policies and procedures, compliance audits and financial statements.

None of my Achievements are my Own - Lando Norris x Verstappen! Reader
Plot: Being the little sister of Max Verstappen, Ex Girlfriend of Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris current girlfriend nothing that you do, seems to reflect on you, it’s always one of the men in your life getting the credit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coming from a family with the last name Verstappen, made anything you did as a child not good enough.
You won a medal in your swimming class, Max had won 3.
You raised €600 euro selling baked cakes across your village for the local environment agency. Max had raised €2000 for his local karting track to get new tires around the edges for protection and have the track relayed.
They were silly little things but as a kid, you never felt appreciated by your family and it wasn’t just your dad, it seemed to be your mum too. Max and Victoria also never took notice of your feelings on the matter.
As you got older, being cast out and almost ignored by your family caused you to develop Anxiety and stayed in the house for most of your teen years.
You only really left when forced to go to Max’s races as he started progressing his way through the FIA feeder series to get to F1.
“Dad I really don’t want to be here today” you sighed rubbing your shoulder as you kept your headphones half on half off.
“It’s good for you to support your brother, especially as he’s becoming an accomplished young man. I can’t say the same for you” he frowns watching as Max passes you guys on track.
That race shortly ended. You saw Max getting a little heated just after the podium, and you ran over to your older brother to try calm him down.
If there was one thing you were good at it was calming his bad temper down. Not that you ever got the recognition.
“Max, Maxie what’s going on?” You ask running up to him, and seeing the guilty looking boy next to him.
“Next time maybe fucking look” Max seethes at the boy.
“Max calm down. What happened” you ask taking a hold of his arm, but he swats your hand off.
“He nearly made me loose that race from his careless driving” he points at the boy before storming of to your father, no doubt to have him critique the hell out of his race.
“I’m so sorry about him” you admit to the boy bashfully. He was still stood there looking rather awkward.
“It’s fine, he was right. You’re his sister right?” he sighs.
“Yeah- how’d you know?” You ask.
“You always seem to be here with Max and your dad. I don’t think he’d talk to you the way he does if you weren’t his family. I’m Charles by the way” the boy says and that was the start of something really beautiful.
You started dating Charles just as he was announced for F2 in 2016. But when that got into the media, of course it was because of Max that you’d managed to get into a relationship with a future F1 driver.
You thought finally having some independence from your brother would mean you could put a foot out in this world.
But once you left home to move in with Charles, it only seemed like as he progressed to Formula One in 2018, your further achievements were still not your own.
“Max, I’m leaving” you’d told you brother. You’d already had this conversation with your father who had refused at the idea at first, thinking it preposterous of you to leave.
“What do you mean?” He’d asked cocking his head to the side.
“I’m going to live with Charles, I think it’s going to be better for me” you said, looking down, and playing with your fingers.
“What do you mean, better for you” he asks with a frown on his face. Despite what the fans, or media stated Max loved you with his whole heart, and it was a huge heart he loved you with, he however was ignorant to your feelings on independence. But that was also partly your fault for hiding it so well.
“I just want to go do something for me, you know where it’s my name tied to it and I think somewhere new away from everything here is exactly what I need” you explained.
“Your name?” He asks with even more of a frown.
“None of my achievements are my own, or are acknowledged because I’m the sister of Max Verstappen but maybe I just want to be Y/N for a little bit? I want people to notice me for me, and what I’ve done in life. Not just because my last name is Verstappen” you smiled and hoped that day your new life with Charles would be different.
It wasn’t, If anything … it was worse.
You got into University to study engineering, but that was only because you were dating F1 driver Charles Leclerc otherwise you would have gotten into University the minute you turned 18 in 2017. Rather than delaying it till 2019 once Charles had a secure seat in Ferrari.
And when you became an advocate for APM Monaco, it was only because Charles was asked first.
Or once you got a job within McLaren in 2019 it was only because you had a brother driving for RedBull and a boyfriend driving for Ferrari. Not because of your ambition and hard work in your first year of University.
And when Charles proposed to you, you were quick to say yes.
You were ready to get rid of the dreadful Verstappen name, and Y/N Leclerc had a nice ring to it, and maybe once you just became Charles fiancé you’d have some independence.
But that fantasy was of course short lived.
“Charles baby?” You asked coming home from a day at university. You’d come home because a lecturer had failed to turn up so you thought you’d surprise your boyfriend with his favourite meal and some flowers.
You heard some movement in the bedroom making you go up and see a sight that broke your heart.
Your boyfriend of 4 years, fiancé for 1 year in bed with another woman. You couldn’t bare the sight.
“Y/N my love. I - what” he gasps as you’d entered the bedroom.
“H-how long?” You’d asked, it was your first question. We’re you not good enough?
“Ma Cherie, please forgive me I’m so so sorry” he begs getting on his knees and the other girl takes her leave.
And the worst thing of all, you were so hopelessly in love with him, that you nearly did forgive him with that look.
“Nothing I’ve ever done in my life, has ever been because of me. I’ve never got the credit for anything, so this one time… I’m taking the credit for breaking up with you. And you are going to tell everyone how you broke my heart … because I will not have you take this from me” you’d said to him with tears in your eyes, a sense of deja vu from you conversation three years prior with Max.
You broke up with him on the spot not wishing to ever see him again.
After some time of self reflecting and improvement you and Lando, who had joined McLaren at the same time as you and became your close friend decided it was time to be more than friends.
Lando had always kind of held a school boy crush on you since you both started in 2019, but he knew you were untouchable thanks to both your brother and your boyfriend at the time. Being the same age made you guys really close.
Once you’d broken up with Charles, he could see the change in you, there wasn’t that sparkle in your eyes, you always looked pretty vacant when he looked at you when you thought nobody was looking.
He’d watch the way your eyes lit up with fake happiness when someone approached you to talk.
You and Lando started dating at the end of the 2022 season. However when he said he wanted to keep it under wraps for a while you were so excited. It meant you had Landos love and affection but you were free to be you right?
WRONG
Whatever you’d did you were still seen as Max Verstappen’s Sister and the Ex Girlfriend of Charles Leclerc.
However as you and Lando grew as a couple you noticed he was one of the only to acknowledge your achievements even if the fans didn’t.
When you graduated from your masters in 2023 he was there with a bunch of flowers and watched as you walked across the stage being the loudest person cheering you on, well the only person really cheering you on. Your parents and brother didn’t manage to come.
When you started running a charity on the side to help creatures in the ocean stop ingesting so much plastic being thrown into the ocean. He was there at the press conference where you’d announced your invention and how it would help clear up the oceans.
All of the little side quests he did with you, he made sure to promote them as yours as yours alone and he was only tagging alone to watch and support.
Of course there were still haters, thought you were only a product of your birth name and who you’d dated and that’s why you’d been given all these opportunity’s and that you hadn’t worked hard for anything in your life.
Which was beyond false.
“Lando?” You asked one day, you both lying in bed after a stressful race weekend.
“Yes baby?” He asks looking away from his phone and his eyes fully trained on you showing he was paying full attention to you.
“I - I really love you and appreciate you, I just wanted to let you know” you say looking over at him, and he moves back in shock a little, trying not to show it.
“W-what? Where has this come from. I know you love me silly” he laughs looking over you to try determine if there was anything else going on.
“I know I know, I just - my whole life whatever I’ve done was never mine … not until I met you. And I just want you to know that I appreciate the fact that you see … well me” you breathe and as ge listens he looks like he could cry from the things you are saying to him.
He knew your relationship with your brother was strained at best, he saw that from the very start. And he knew you and Charles didn’t exactly end on a happy note but he didn’t realise just how much you’d been not only discredited for but out right stolen off.
“Baby - why did you never tell me” he asks pulling you into him and hugging you while toying with your hair gently.
“I guess I never felt like I had a voice until I met you, because nothing was my own. But I have that with you!” You smile tears brimming your own eyes with how much you love this man in front of you.
“Marry me” he whispers not looking at you, and you think you didn’t hear him correctly.
“What?”
“Marry me. I never want you to feel like that ever again, and I love you more than anything on this planet. I want to show you just how much of a voice you have for the rest of our lives” he offers and you can’t help but just stare at his eyes.
“Yes - Yes” you cry and cling to him like a koala.
You’d finally found your voice and your purpose and that was in Lando Norris.

Gay wrongs tournament, round one of the losers bracket
Propaganda:
For John and Jack:
So, they both are literal murders. One of them is a little bit more insane than the other. Okay, the little bit part is not right, totally insane that is John, yes. But gonna love him though. He had been in rehab for alcohol, drugs, sex and murder. Don't kiss him, he might be wearing poisoning lipstick. They are canon mlm. They had been stuck in a two week time loop for five years, which was like leading a married life for them. They didn't actually marry, but they were partners, both in business and sexually. They worked together for an time agency. Then Jack's memories of two years were erased and he left. He went into  independent self deployment, doing scams using his knowledge of future events. After that he build an alien hunting institute in Cardiff, Wales. When John and Jack see eachother again after years, you don't know whether they will they kiss or fight. They do both. Did I tell you that along this story Jack became an inmortal who can't stay dead? No matter how or how often he dies or is killed, he keeps coming back to life. This is all very scraping on the surface, but oh boy, would it be at least a novella to describe them.
They worked together in the Time Agency where they did horrible things to the extent where Jack had two years of his memory stolen so that he couldn’t know what he’d done. They were also in a time loop together for five years where they canonically thought of each other as the wife (John was a good wife :3), and were basically married. Then they had a divorce arc and they both separately went rogue from the Agency to become conmen, although they still worked together/clashed on occasions, always still with that spark of passion. “Frenemies with benefits” Jack called them once, although John preferred “my lover, my rival, my nemesis and destiny. And bane of my bloody life.” Canon finds us where Jack has tried to reform and be a better person, but John is still chasing cons, and all he wants to do is bring Jack back to the stars with him, back to the crime and the glitter of the galaxies (it doesn’t work and he shoves Jack off a building but Jack got himself immortal so he’s fine <3) anyway I am very normal about them xoxo
In John's introduction to the series he shows up on a roof where some guy is mugging someone, grabs him by the throat and dangles him over the edge of the building while this guy begs for his life before dropping him just because he felt like it. When John and Jack interact for the first time in the show there's a super cool guitar riff, very evil western vibes, they walk up to each other, look deeply into each other's eyes, make out, then start throwing punches to Blur's Song 2. In one of the audio dramas we're told about various times where these two conned people, stole a bunch of money and gold and gems and stuff, then had sex with whoever it is they conned before (sometimes) killing them. When Jack devided he was done and left John to die John escaped and married the queen of England (Victoria) then locked Jack up somewhere to take his life force and live forever, destroying the timeline in the process. John has tried to kill all of Jack's friends at least twice to have him all to himself. He found Jack's long lost brother and when the brother turned out to be a terrible person with a vendetta against Jack John did everything he could to save Jack. Their relationship is canon but very one-sided most of the time
just this video
For Dina and Ellie:
They do justified murders, but murders none the less. Is it really that bad to kill a few dozen people with your gf if your trying to get revenge in this big horrible world?
Spoilers, but Ellie decided to go on a big old revenge murder spree and Dina was a super supportive girlfriend and went right along with her. The two of them killed A Lot of people together. Admittedly Dina eventually tapped out on the whole revenge murder thing eventually, but I feel like they definitely need to be in this tournament.

"Toru, you can't keep living like this." You say, trying to hold back tears as you cleaned up the man's bloody lip.
You two were currently sitting in your room, sitting on the floor across from each other.
Satoru knew you better than anyone and could see the pain hidden in your eyes. "I know." The next few words he was about to say are probably the most difficult words he will ever say. "I'm leaving."
You froze, the soaked napkin still pressed against his lip. "What?"
Satoru sighed, not wanting to repeat what just took every ounce of strength within him to say. He grabbed your wrist, removing your hand from his lip. "I'm leaving."
"W-why?" Your voice is shaky as your body begins to follow.
Satoru looks at the ground, knowing it will be even more difficult if he looks at you. "My dad has to move to America for business." He says in an almost whisper tone, but you heard him clearly.
"I already told you, you can live with me!" You argue, but Satoru shakes his head and stands up, making you stand up as well.
"And how the hell would I do that? My dad would never allow me and if I were to stay here without his permission, your parents could be charged with kidnapping me for fucks sake."
It hurts him. The way he's being crucial for you to understand and also because of the amount of stress he's under. He's afraid if he's nice, you'll convince him to stay.
"No one has to know! You can stay in my room and hide if anything...I don't know. Please Toru just—"
Your hopeless suggestions are cut off by Satoru. "Do you hear yourself? How would that be any better than the life I have right now?"
You pause. He was absolutely right. How could you be such a fool?
"You can't just leave." You stare at the ground, voice quieter than a mouse, but Satoru still somehow managed to hear. "I'll go with you."
"No." Was the first word to leave his mouth. "I'm turning 18 soon while you will still be 17. Your parents would never let you go."
"Then I'll go when I turn 18." You suggest.
"With what money?" You look up at Satoru, not knowing what to say. "I don't want you to have to depend on me or your parents for money. It's not that I mind, but you have to be more independent and support yourself."
He was right yet again. You were being irrational and blinded by love. Satoru didn't want your life to be any more difficult than it already is.
“Stay with me...I don’t want you to leave.” Your voice doesn’t even sound like you. It sounds so broken and full of hurt. Satoru’s never heard anything like it before.
“I have to.” That is all he can manage to say. He hates the way your face twists in pain. Your eyes look so different when they’re hurt. All the light kept inside is now faded away.
"When will you go?" You ask, obvious disappointment lingering within your voice.
"Tomorrow." He replies making your eyes widen.
"Are you out of your damn mind?!" You shout at Satoru. "Are you fucking serious?!"
"What other choice do I have?!" He retorted back, frustration getting to him. "I wish I could've told you sooner, but...I couldn't."
"Fine then!" You shout so loud you thought the neighbors might hear. You shove Satoru. "Then leave!" You shove him again. "Fucking leave you selfish asshole!" And again. "Leave me behind and everything else we have, coward!" And again.
Satoru was pressed against the wall at this point as he watched tears run down your cheeks like waterfalls. Tears of his own threaten to spill, but he held them back with every ounce of strength inside him.
"I fucking hate you—" Before you can finish your sentence your lips are smashed against his. You can taste the blood from his lip. You thought this would hurt his lip even more, but the pain was the last thing on Satoru's mind. All he could think of was sharing this last moment with you before it all corrupted.
You wanted to push him away, but your body didn't let you. Your soul ached and you wanted to slap his stupidly handsome face for making you feel this way, but you couldn't.
You kissed until your jaws hurt and fucked till you were both numb.
*The next morning*
September 22
You woke up and immediately noticed Satoru's absence.
Fuck.
You thought after the night you two had, he would stay without a doubt. What an idiot you are. It's not like it was your guy's first time.
You called his phone. "You have reached the voice mailbox of-"
The phone went straight to voicemail.
You tried texting him, but your messages wouldn't go through. The son of a bitch blocked your number.
You check the date and realize summer just ended. Did he do this on purpose?
You couldn't find the energy to leave your bed and you cried
and cried,
and cried,
and cried.
"Leave me alone." You look up at the white-haired boy you wanted nothing to do with.
"Oh come on. Be my partner. Please?" Satoru begged as he sat on your desk, looking down at you. His eyes were covered by his stupid circled shades.
"Why? So I could do all the work?" You retorted, writing something in your notebook.
"Who? Me? Make you do all the work? Y/n...why would you think such a thing..." he grips the cloth over his heart, pretending to be hurt.
"It's l/n to you." You say, folding your arms in front of your chest.
"Ouch." He pretends to pout.
Ever since the beginning of your freshman year, he's known just how to get on your nerves. He always tried to talk to you even though you rarely cared to respond. You found him annoying. After all, he was your polar opposite.
You were quiet, he was loud. You were observant, he couldn't care less of his surroundings. Your lips never opened while his never closed. You were calm and collected, he was obnoxious and irritable. You get the point.
You drop your pencil and look up at him. "What do you want?"
He smirks and says, "I just told you."
You sigh. "No, you're annoying."
"Whyyyyyy?" He dragged out like a toddler not getting their way.
"I just told you." You mock, unable to keep a smile off your face by your snarky response.
"But I'm not annoying." He protests knowing damn well he was.
"Those girls behind you look like they'll rip my throat out if I say yes." You peer behind Satoru to see the group of girls drilling holes in you from their intense glare. You found it entertaining.
"Pleaseeee?" He begs yet again, ignoring what you just said.
You glare at the man on your desk. "Fine, just get off my damn desk."
You and Satoru exchanged phone numbers to decide where you guys will work on your project.
༺ ♡ ༻
Gojo: Where do you wanna go to work on the project?
Y/n: I don't know. Maybe your house?
Gojo: No, not mine. How about yours?
Y/n: Sure, just don’t forget the supplies.
Gojo: Okay, see you then!!!! >.<
Y/n: Whatever. Just don't park close to my house.
And so you sent your address.
༺ ♡ ༻
You heard a knock at your door and pause the movie you just started. You didn’t know he would be here so soon.
You open the door and you're met with black shades and shiny white teeth that formed into a smile that could make any girl's heart instantly melt.
"Did you get the supplies?" You ask, unaffected by his charm.
"Yep." He pops the p, raising the plastic bag to show you. "Are your parents home?"
"They don't get here till midnight." You grab the bag from his hand and head to the kitchen table.
Satoru steps inside and is surprised by how spacious and elegant your house is. It looked like a mansion and a house at the same time. He knew you had to be pretty wealthy when he saw your stylish outfits, the Vivienne Westwood jewelry, and the smell of lasting perfume on you. Only expensive perfume could last that long.
But it was no secret Satoru was just as wealthy, maybe even more.
"Hurry up and get your ass over here." You called out, making Satoru snap out of his thought process.
༺ ♡ ༻
As you were working with Satoru, you two sat pretty close. You looked at him while he was focused on the work in front of him. You were curious as to why he was wearing shades inside. They were kind of odd looking too. Black circles? Weird, but they suited him.
The longer you stared, you began to notice patchy concealer on his cheek with a purple bruise under the makeup.
Questions filled your mind. How did he get it? Who did this to him? Was it an accident? When did this happen? Is he okay?
You randomly blurted one of many questions. "Do you have concealer on?"
He looks up at you. You could tell he was anxious by the way he looked at you when you asked that.
"Never mind, of course, you don't have any. That was a stupid question " You grabbed your pencil and head back to work, praying in your mind that things won't be awkward.
You pretend to write something down, acting like you're focused when in reality you wanna crawl into a hole and never come out.
"I do." You hear Satoru say in a whisper tone, almost as if he's embarrassed.
You don't want him to be embarrassed, but you want to help. "Do you have the makeup with you?"
Instead of responding, he rummaged through his pocket and handed you something.
His concealer.
You ripped your eyes away from the makeup to look at him. You wondered what he was thinking at this very moment.
And without wasting another second, you get up and walk away from the table.
"Where are you going?" Satoru asks, watching you leave.
"I'll be back."
You go to your room and grab your makeup brush and find a shade of concealer that's Satoru's skin tone. You have so much extra makeup so you knew you had to have his shade.
You stop by the bathroom to grab a baby wipe and you go back to the man in your dining room.
Satoru sighs in relief when he hears you coming back. He thought he might have weirded you out and decided to hide inside your room until he decided to leave.
You stand in front of him and he notices the makeup in your hands. "Can I?"
He looks hesitant at first but gives in with a nod and tilts his head to give you better access. You remove his glasses and get to work.
But before you could, you finally saw his eyes. To say they were beautiful was an understatement. They resembled a bright blue sky full of clouds. They were intense, yet majestic and you couldn't help the chills running down your spine.
You wouldn't be the first to be hypnotized by his eyes and Satoru quickly noticed. He chuckled and that was enough to snap you out of your trance. You felt your cheeks heat up a bit but tried to mask your embarrassment by acting like nothing happened.
"You chose a shitty concealer. I used to have this one and it never did me justice." You say, wiping his face with the baby wipe.
Satoru could tell what you were doing and found it cute the way you tried to hide your embarrassed expression.
"Which one should I use then?" He asks.
"I'll give you the one I'm using right now. It's not my shade anyway." You reply.
As you wipe his face, you saw that his cheek wasn't the only place that was bruised. So was the bottom of his lip, his temple, above his eyebrow, and underneath his left eye.
You had so many questions, but one of them was already answered.
Someone did this to him.
You try to hide your concern and act neutral, but Satoru could see the pools of worry in your eyes. He was surprised you didn't say anything.
Once you finish wiping his face, you show him the baby wipe full of concealer. "It's so shitty that even a baby wipe can take it off."
You apply a small bit of concealer onto your brush and apply it to the bruise.
You touch up his makeup and while you do this he stares at you, watching the way your eyebrows knit to focus, the way you nibble your bottom lip, and the way concern drowns in your pupils.
"Do you use a makeup sponge?" You ask, snapping him from his trance.
"Yeah." He responds.
"That explains a lot." You shake your head in disapproval. "You can keep this makeup brush. They're way better."
You do your final touch-ups and…
"Done." You remove the brush from his face.
He looks up at you with the kindest expression anyone has ever given you. His smile was so tender and his eyes so genuine. "Thank you."
"It's no big deal. Now let's get to work." You brush it off, heading back to work.
༺ ♡ ༻
You two worked for 2 hours until Satoru got up to stretch his body.
"Are you leaving?" You ask, glancing at his abs as he stretched his arms over his head, revealing a small portion of his lightly sculpted abs. How the hell does a 16-year-old have abs? Once he looks at you, your eyes are instantly back on his.
"Nope, I just wanna have a break." He says as he walks into the kitchen, acting like he owns the place.
You let him since he was surprisingly helping you do the work. He comes back with a bucket of ice cream and two spoons with a smirk on his face.
You get up in defeat and guide him to the living room.
"What movie were you watching?" He asks when he sees the paused screen.
"Lights out." You respond, sitting on the couch.
"It looks scary." His face has a small amount of anxiousness as he looks at the TV.
"That's because it's supposed to be."
Satoru looks at you, the anxiousness surrounding his expression now clear. "Can we watch something else?"
"Nah." You reply. "Now give me the ice cream." You hold your arms out, opening and closing your hands.
He rolls his eyes and hands you the ice cream. "Whatever, but if I wet the couch don't blame me." He joked, taking a seat next to you.
"Ew, then don't sit next to me." You push him away, making him laugh.
You play the movie and as it proceeds, Satoru slowly wraps his arm around yours, leaning against you. You assumed it was because he was being a baby about watching the movie, which was half the truth, but also because he wanted to be close to you.
You didn't bother telling him to move because you knew he would do it again. The scared look on his face just says so.
The whole time Satoru kept hiding behind the blanket you forced him to grab because you were cold. When he was actually watching it he would either say, 'Turn the lights on you fucking idiot!' 'Why would you turn off the lights?!' 'Look behind you!' 'Fuck!'.
Each time he did this you would side-eye him in annoyance but tried your best to ignore him.
A sudden tiredness hit you. Your eyelids began to grow heavier and heavier as you watched the movie.
༺ ♡ ༻
You woke up when you heard keys jingle outside. Your heart raced as anxiety swarmed your veins. You found Satoru on top of your chest, sleeping peacefully.
You're dead if you don't do something about this right fucking now. Knowing your parents, they'll immediately think you had sex even though you're both fully clothed.
You shake the man on top of you until his tired eyes meet yours. You get up and grab his arm, dragging him into your room and that's when you heard the door unlock.
"What are you—"
You cover Satoru's mouth to hear what was going on in the house. He heard footsteps and instantly understood what was happening.
"Y/n? Are you home?" You heard your mother's voice. She never checks up on you, so she probably needs something.
You frantically search for a place to hide Satoru as your mother's footsteps grew louder. Your eyes landed on your closet and so you pulled him by the arm and shoved him in, not giving him the chance to even understand what you were doing.
You quickly rush to grab a random book since your mother knew you liked to read at night, turned on your nightstand lamp, and lie in bed, pretending to read your book.
The footsteps come to a halt as you hear the doorknob twist. Your mother enters the room with her arms crossed. "I was calling your name."
"You were?" You act clueless. "I was so invested in this book. I guess I didn't notice." You gave your mother an anxious smile.
Your mother looks down at the book. "It's upside down."
You look at the book and realize it was indeed upside down. You quickly turn it around and give your mother another smile to mask your anxiety. "Whoops."
The older woman's eyebrows touched in confusion. "...Remember to pick something elegant for tomorrow."
"When am I not elegant, Okasan?" Your smile was stretched by arrogance.
She knew you were hiding something, but she was too tired to care. "I'm going to bed. Your father should be home soon."
"Goodnight." You say.
And with that, she left and shut the door. When her footsteps grew faint, you rushed to the closet and opened it to find Satoru covering his mouth. When his eyes met yours he bursts into laughter.
"It was upside down? Seriously?" He says, continuing to laugh as he got out of the closet.
"Shhh! You're gonna get us caught!" You whisper scream even though you're also annoyed by the fact he's laughing at you.
You cover his mouth to double check your mother was gone. As you concentrate on hearing any noise, Satoru licks your hand.
You instantly pull your hand away. "Ew!" You whisper scream, wiping your hand on the sleeve of his arm.
He chuckles under his breath. "Where are you going tomorrow? You seemed awfully arrogant." He asks.
You glare at the hypocrite of a man in front of you. "Some stupid business get-together at a fancy restaurant. I'm always forced to attend." You let out an annoyed sigh just thinking about it when another question popped into your mind. "Why were you laying on me?" You question, folding your arms over your chest.
"I don't know. It kind of just happened." He shrugs his shoulders.
"So you were accidentally laying your head on my tits?" Your eyebrows furrow, not believing him.
A light shade of pink takes over his face. "...Look, I know you won't believe me, but I swear that was an accident."
You shot him a teasing look. "Mhmmm...whatever you say."
Satoru looks away in embarrassment, a hand covering his mouth to hide his blush. "It's true." He says. You could tell he's never even touched a woman and you found it cute.
"Well, I can't let you go yet. I don't wanna run into my dad on the way of trying to sneak you out." You say.
"Then what do we do in the meantime?" He asks.
You shrug and look at your TV. "Ima watch a movie." You get up and sit on your bed, grabbing the remote.
Satoru got up and sat next to you, watching you scroll through movies. You finally pick a movie: The Notebook.
"Is this one of those corny, forbidden love movies?" Satoru joked, making you playfully push him.
"Shut up. It's an amazing movie." You defend, clicking play.
As the two of you watched the movie, Satoru surprisingly didn't say a word. Whenever you looked at him he seemed genuinely interested and focused on what was going on.
༺ ♡ ༻
"So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever and every day."
Tears silently fall from your eyes at the words that come out of the TV speaker even though you watched this movie over a million times. You peek at Satoru for a moment.
He had that look that happens when you're so focused on a TV. The type of look when your mouth slightly falls open, unable to tear your eyes away. You didn't expect him to enjoy a romance movie.
As the movie was coming to an end, you ask yourself the same question you always ask after reading a romance novel or watching a romance movie. ‘What's it like to be loved so much that people are willing to sacrifice so much, just to make you happy?’
You knew your parents loved you, but they were always too busy to pay attention to you. Plus they've never made huge sacrifices for you. It's not that you were desperate to crave that love or maybe you were, but you just wondered what it would be like to experience such passionate love.
The credits rolled and Satoru still hasn't ripped his eyes away.
"Gojo?" Your voice was a bit concerned.
He turned to face you, his expression still the same. Once his eyes met yours, his expression was back to its usual self. "That was a pretty good movie, surprisingly.”
"Surprisingly? You looked like you were hypnotized while watching the movie. Just admit it was good."
"Aw, did you cry?" Satoru teased when he saw the wet stains on your cheeks.
"Shut up. I bet you did too." You argue. "Just secretly."
"No, I didn't."
"Wanna bet?"
That question made Satoru knit his brows in confusion.
You quickly reached towards his shades, but he was faster and grabbed your wrist. "Why don't you want me to see, huh?" You teased.
"Because you'll ruin my shades." He replied with a smirk.
"Yeah, right." You try to grab them with your other hand, but he grabs your other wrist. You try to pull your arms away, but he doesn't let you.
"Son of a bitch." You mutter under your breath making him chuckle.
Instead of pulling away, you try to push against him. You knew if you started with a little strength, he would overpower you, so you push him with all the force you have.
His eyes widen from your sudden strength and he falls onto his back, you going down with him.
His head hits the headboard, making his hand land on the spot that got hit. "Fuck."
"Are you okay?" You say above him, a hand over your mouth to try and cover your laughter as your hair tickled his face.
Satoru glares at you and answers, "No." He sits up and lays his back against the headboard. You're straddling him, but don't even realize it.
You're too focused on getting his shades and that's when you realize your freed hands. You quickly grab his shades and this time he's not quick enough to stop you.
"Ha!" You say when you're met with Satoru's glossy eyes.
Instead of his eyes looking like a sky this time, they looked like a roaring ocean the way tears pooled in his eyes. An ocean that can go so deep, you can drown with just a flick of the water. You would've gotten lost in them if he didn't speak.
"They just got watery. I had something in my eyes." He jokes.
"Definitely." Sarcasm lingers in your voice. "One more minute of that movie and you would've been balling your eyes out."
He stuck his tongue at you.
You did it back.
You look at the shades in your hand and decide to try them on. "What are these for? You even wear them at school." You say, looking around. "I can barely see in these."
Satoru laughed as he watched you struggle to see through his glasses. "I have really good eyesight."
He continued to watch you struggle with a smile tugging the corners of his lips. You could see through them, but very faintly. Suddenly you felt lips on yours. You were taken aback but didn't pull away. His lips were so plump and soft. You found it comforting and your heart felt like it was about to explode. You don't understand why.
Once he removed his lips, you hesitantly removed his shades after what just happened. Once they were finally removed, Satoru saw your flushed cheeks. Just a few hours ago you couldn't stand him, but now you're afraid you have a chance of falling for him.
Satoru smiled warmly with a light blush coating his cheeks. His eyes were so bright, even the stars were jealous by the way they outshined them. Your heart was swelling so much, you swore it would pop.
You opened your mouth to say something, but the sound of the front door opening stopped you.
Your father was home.
You and Satoru stayed silent, hearing your father's footsteps until you heard another door open and close. That means he went into his shared bedroom with your mother.
"Let's go." You say, grabbing Satoru by the hand and leading him to your door. You quietly poke your head out of the door to check if the coast was clear. When it was, you sneaked to the front door, Satoru following in your footsteps. Once you made it to the door you slowly opened it and once it did, you look at Satoru and give him a nod for him to leave.
He whispers a 'thank you' and heads out. You watch him as he walks away. He suddenly pauses, making you knit your brows in confusion. He turns around and walks up to you. Once he's standing in front of you, he looks down at you with a gentle smile and suddenly his arms are wrapped around you in a tight embrace, his head resting on your shoulder.
"I mean it." He whispers. "Thank you." Your eyes were wide in shock, but once you come back to your senses, you hug him back.
You two stayed in that position for what felt like an eternity as you two stood in the comfort of each other's embrace.
He finally let go and your arms instantly felt empty and by the look in Satoru's eyes, you could tell he felt the same.
He quickly pecks your lips and smiles. "Goodnight."
You were again surprised. He's bolder than you thought. "Night." You say, returning the smile.
And with that, he walked away to the far end of the sidewalk and hopped in his car. You're so glad you told him to park away from your house just in case your parents came home early, which wasn't the case. You two just slacked off, which reminds you of the mess in the dining room and living room, so you go to clean up.
Once you've cleaned the mess you and Satoru made and done your nighttime routine, you realized you and Satoru didn't finish the project, so you'll have to find another time to work on it together.
You lay in bed with your thoughts trapped inside your mind and there was nothing else to distract you from them. You find yourself rethinking about today. You were so confused with yourself. How did he manage to get you to like him so much in such a small amount of time or have you simply misjudged him this entire time?
Just 8 hours ago you found him selfish, narcissistic, and overall irritable. You thought working with him would be the most dreadful hours of your life.
He's nothing like that though. He's so sweet, cute, funny, and...ugh! What the fuck were you thinking?! You shove your head into a pillow out of frustration.
Your shared kiss replays like a broken record inside your mind. You can't erase the thought of him. No one has ever made you feel this way. Damnit, you're so frustrated with yourself.

60 Years of Doctor Who Anniversary Marathon - Troughton 12 Review
Downtime - Spin-off Movie
Tumblr media
During Doctor Who’s hiatus in the 90s, an independent company called Reeltime Pictures created a bunch of made for home video spin-off movies and documentaries of the show. They received the license to make these films on the condition that The Doctor couldn’t make an appearance himself. Therefore the features focus on the The Doctor’s former companions instead.
Tumblr media
While Sarah Jane makes an appearance, the film mainly focuses on The Brigadier and Victoria. Who, in an interesting turn of events, plays the antagonist. She’s not the main big bad, that’s the Great Intelligence, but it’s such an intriguing twist to see one of the Doctor’s companions go rogue without him around to guide them.
Especially Victoria, one of the series most innocent and naive characters. She’s now become this cold and distant figure, lost in a time that’s not her own. And tragically you see her younger self trying to get out. She still cares about people. She wants to help, but she inadvertently becomes just a pawn in the larger villain’s game as she slowly loses control.
This is the best Victoria has ever been written and Deborah Watling just sparkles on screen when finally given something meaty to play. I am so sad we never got more of this version of the character, especially since the film left her ending open.
Tumblr media
That’s not to say that the other characters don’t get their share of development either. This story marks the first appearance of The Brigadier’s daughter, Kate Stewart. Kate herself will eventually go on to replace her dad as head of UNIT in the new series, but here they’re estranged and finally reconnecting after six years of not talking.
See the Brig never told his family what he did for a living, not fully. Most likely for their own safety and for legal reasons. However, it did put a strain on his relationships with them.
Downtime gives us a more personable look at The Brigadier and his life after UNIT. It’s a compelling bit of realism that helps to ground the film.
Tumblr media
And boy does it need grounding! The plot makes more sense then say, Ghostlight, but only just. There’s a lot of strange editing choices and it feels like there are scenes missing from the final cut. The borderline mystic technobabble used in place of exposition doesn’t help matters. But most confusing of all is how the fuck did Victoria get to Tibet?
Like, apparently she’s rich because her dad left her money invested in the bank, that quadrupled over the centuries. I get that she has the means to go there... but I don’t understand why. Last we saw her she was being adopted by a loving family, so why is she going through all this expense to find her dead dad.... who she knows is long gone.
Basically we’re missing some backstory. What happened to her foster parents? Why didn’t she keep in contact with Travers and Ann? Why didn’t she look for the Brigadier and get in touch with him before going to Tibet?
The film wants to isolate her as a means of motivating her to the dark side, but that requires explaining where her previous support group went. Which it never does.
Tumblr media
Plot holes aside, I did find myself enjoying this outing of Doctor Who (minus the Doctor). Oh sure, it has a very cheap, fresh out of film school aesthetic, and less then stellar editing/plotting. But I went into this not expecting much and came away pleasantly surprised by the character work and strong acting.

Everyone on here has probably forgotten me but here are some updates from my life now :)
I'm all done with school and living back with family. I got a fellowship with a government agency doing environmental data analysis! It was really challenging at first. (challenges: remote work, wasn't getting a lot of support from my mentor, general first full time job woes) BUT I've been putting in extra effort to meet the team. I'm feeling more supported and motivated because of that.
Also started getting back into a productive headspace after not really identifying with that mindset for a while. Honestly COVID threw me off for several years there (+ the general stresses of grad school + stoner life). I just didn't feel as driven as I used to, but luckily I could coast off my past accomplishments for a few years and end up in a good place. I was tired of the grindset mentality. It was too much with the pandemic. I realized it's important to start my career off right though :) I want to do a great job on my project & make a good impression. (while still having balance in the rest of my life!! like you won't catch me working after hours but from 9 - 5... i'm ON IT!)
My main goal in life right now is working on my FINANCES! mainly I'm obsessed with paying off my student loans. I give myself plenty of money for groceries each month. One of my goals for this year was to be hot, so I also give myself like $2-300 each month to invest in my appearance. I made a list of essential beauty / clothing items and I'm working through it month by month. Other than that... I'm dumping THOUSANDS into student loan debt to hopefully be debt free by end 2024 or early 2025. Then I save save save and move out of my family's house by Fall 2025. <3
On the note of being hot goals: started showering nightly, weekly face mask monday routine (nails, hair mask, face mask, foot soak, shaving everything, and a weed gummy to top it off!) and buying a few cute clothes that fit me at my current size instead of putting it off until I reached a lower weight (unhealthy thought leftover from obsessive weight loss days :( ) My favorite purchase so far is CUTE PJS FROM VICTORIAS SECRET <3 <3 I got a slip and a shirt/shorts combo that help me feel sooo cute in the evenings when I'm doing my hygiene routines, journaling, reading... <3 I also got a bra that actually fits me and I'm a fucking DD. who??????
My boyfriend and I have been together for over 3 years now. I've gotten really close to his family and I spend most weekends at his place. I'm very happy and at peace in this relationship. Working on doing more little acts of kindness. He's very generous with me so I wanna match his energy more. we're working on being more independent now in this new busy era for us. unfortunately we can't be unemployed students forever.
also my best friend called me her best friend so i officially have a best friend in my hometown. she is so funny and drama-free. I love her. WOO!
So that's life! I'm a full on financially independent woman now. it feels AMAZING!
love, Jillian

JATP Gilmore Girls AU
Because apparently sooner or later I create a Gilmore Girls au for every fandom I am in... All the blame goes to @hawkguyhasstarbucks who sent me ‘emily patterson 🤝 emily gilmore’ and I have not known peace since.
-When Luke has Rory, he decides to name her Lorelai after himself. That way, there will still be a Lorelai in the family after he transitions so everyone can suck it.
-Luke is constantly baffled by his daughter being like, the opposite of him in every way. Except really she isn’t. He is all about music, she is all about books. He loves and supports her even if he doesn’t really get it.
-Luke still runs away to work at the Independence Inn. But besides cleaning rooms, he also mans the piano or guitar during dinner. If you tip well enough, he will play requests. If he thinks your request sucks, he will keep your money and play something better. If you want him to play Piano Man, it’s 100 bucks.
-Bobby, Rory’s father, did not run away with them even though Luke asked him to. When Luke is cleaning rooms several years later, he hears a very familiar song on the radio.
-It’s said to be by Trevor Wilson, but Luke knows that voice.
-Let’s just say that for the sake of their kid, Luke doesn’t sue the pants off of Bobby. He’s been dealing with his shitty broken promises to Rory for years and trying to keep from badmouthing her other dad. But this is one bridge too far and it’s burnt.
-He lets Bobby know if he ever tries to steal another song of Luke’s, Luke will not only sue the pants off of him, he will tell Rory everything. Rory who at eight is already smarter than both of them put together and the most fair-minded child in the universe.
-Bobby takes this threat very seriously and indeed never steals another song of Luke’s. His first album is a hit, but all his next ones are kind of flops. He does pay Luke some money, so he can move and get a house for him and Rory.
-Luke moves to his own place in Stars Hollow with Rory and they are quickly adopted by the town. They have breakfast almost every morning at Reggie’s, the diner in town. It’s run by Reggie, who is just a ray of sunshine, and Alex, who complains about how much coffee he and Rory drink but also always pours it for them anyway.
-Luke and Rory move next door to the Molinas, who are pretty awesome and have a daughter about Rory’s age. Julie and Rory are best friends and Luke is so thankful to have some Adultier Adults nearby when he has parenting questions like ‘how young is too young for a child to read Russian literature’ and ‘how did I explode the microwave trying to make soup for my daughter, no it’s fine it’s not on fire... anymore’.
-Okay and also maybe Luke looked up to Ray a little about how to be a Proper Father because he was just winging it by going ‘how about I take everything my parents did and do Not That’.
-When Ray realises he makes sure to tell Luke that he’s doing everything right and Rory seems like a well-adjusted, happy kid. Luke manages to keep it together until he’s home and only then cries about it, because that’s all he’s ever wanted, was for Rory to be happy.
-Reggie inherited the hardware store from his dad and turned it into a diner. He immediately invited Alex to join him because 1) Alex knows coffee better than Reggie ever will and 2) they were best friends and Alex was on the verge of either being cut off from the family or forced into a marriage with a Girl, Any Girl.
-Yes the Mercers did cut him off because he started living with a man and they were both like: lol but we aren’t even dating.
-They lasted like, 2 or 3 years of ‘we’re totally not dating we’re best buds’ before finally confessing they were totally in love.
-The next morning while opening the diner, Miss Patty and Babette took one look at the two of them and exchanged money. (Babette thought it would take them at least another six months and was hoping for a Dramatic Christmas Confession instead of a ‘dramatic random March confession.’)
-Tía Victoria is 100% Miss Patty’s right hand woman. Together (when Taylor isn’t looking) they rule Stars Hollow. She had her money on New Years.
-Yes Reggie baked Rory a coffee cake for her birthday. Alex is the one that grumpily informed her she was sitting at the wrong table, before nodding to the table he and Reggie decorated with balloons.
-When Rose died Luke and Rory were devastated and they did their best to help. Even if that meant ‘we know better than to try and make you a casserole but we did buy one of everything you like at Reggie’s so here you go.’
-Luke has 100% covered for the Molinas with Victoria. No no that extra plate is totally for me Victoria I promise. You know I just freaking love Ray’s spaghetti so much.
-Rory gets into Chilton and they have a small party before Luke realises that they aren’t eligible for the scholarship money. Ray offers to loan him the money but he just can’t. Ray’s fighting to keep Julie in her own music school, he doesn’t need the extra stress.
-So he goes back to his parents.
-Can you imagine how fucking painfully awkward Friday Night Dinners are. Just sit with that a moment. On the one hand Luke has Unsaid Emily running through his mind, on the other, Emily is scolding him for not wearing sleeves and trying to talk Rory out of going to Harvard and go to Yale instead and all he wants to do is run away and hide at Reggie’s diner or possibly the Molina’s studio.

Supported Independent Living Victoria
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a NDIS funding option that provides full-time support to people with disability.
Supported independent living Victoria is available in a number of different settings including shared accommodation, supported living homes and specialist disability accommodation.
The NDIS has been designed to help people with disabilities live a life they love and have control over their own lives. The NDIS supports people to access the supports they need to improve their physical, emotional and social well-being, and increase their independence.
Home Share providers are a great option for a person with a disability who needs assistance with everyday living activities such as cooking, cleaning, toileting, shopping and personal care. They are open to anyone with a disability and offer services based on the individual's unique needs.
Residential care services are a good choice for older people who need assistance with daily living and may not be able to live independently. These are properties that have Australian Government approval to provide a range of support services and are monitored to ensure they meet certain standards.
They can be located in a residential area and are available on a permanent or short-term basis, with fees varying based on the type of service provided.
A SIL house is like a regular house in that there are between two and seven people living together. Each person has their own bedroom and there are support workers that come to the house to help with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and transporting.
It can be difficult for people with a disability to find the right place to live. This is especially true when they are looking for a SIL house that will support their disability needs.
The NDIS helps to make this process easier for everyone by providing them with funding to support people in their lives. They also have a dedicated team of experts that can provide help and advice on finding a suitable home and living situation.
Getting NDIS funding for a house can be tricky, and it often involves lots of legwork on the part of the person receiving the support. This is why it is best to have a Support Coordinator to help with the process.
The NDIA will determine whether a participant is eligible for SDA or SIL funding and how much funding they should receive. This will be done after an assessment is carried out.
Premium Disability Support Services is an NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Service Provider based in Melbourne. We provide disability support services all across Melbourne. We support all individuals with disabilities to develop the skills and capabilities that they require to achieve independence and participate in society.

If the arrival of children nourished the Jacobi marriage, other factors weakened their bond, including their different temperaments. Extremely bold and eager to speak her mind, Mary was independent and determined to live life on her own terms. Although her husband was joyful around the children, Mary thought he was "unsocial" with adults and did not easily mix with new people; he was most comfortable in the company of old friends, preferring fellow physicians and activists, most importantly, Carl Schurz. A former Union army general who became a leading Republican as well as a journalist, orator, reformer, and the first German-born U.S. senator, Schurz shared Jacobi's political sensibility and memories of European radicalism. The two men were often described as “inseparable.” Over time, Abraham found intellectual inspiration more often in his male companions than in his wife. While she cared deeply for her children, she was not a model of nineteenth-century maternalism and did not relish their daily care. Abraham, by contrast, was more affectionate with the children, playing, cuddling, and singing them lullabies. Mary acknowledged their different parental relationships, predicting Ernst would adore his father and see her more as the disciplinarian and custodian.
The two doctors disagreed on the gendered roles of parenthood, particularly how to manage the responsibilities of the household. Though Abraham felt personally attached to the children, he believed that overseeing their care ultimately stood with Mary. Although they employed a nurse and other household servants, Abraham expected that his wife would make the professional and personal sacrifices needed to raise a family. Their conflict over parental roles brewed for years, but it came to a head in the spring of 1883, following a birthday celebration for Carl Schurz. Both had been invited to the party, but Abraham believed that "some one had to stay at home with the children," and it should have been Mary, considering he was "the oldest friend of C.S." When she went to Schurz's on her own, Abraham refused to go. Following the incident, he confronted her over dinner about her behavior, prompting her to walk away from the table and leave the house, most likely to stay with Victoria White, a colleague and collaborator. Abraham was angered by her disappearance and her mysterious whereabouts, although he suspected that she was in the city, "as on former occasions." Clearly, this was not the first time that Mary fled in anger from the expectations of marriage and motherhood.
The couple had great difficulty working out a peaceful coexistence, or, as Abraham described it, "a quiet and rational modus vivendi." Mary insisted on living and working by her own decisions, and her husband grew more irritated with her actions. Believing in the similarities between men and women, or fathers and mothers, she saw no need to make serious concessions to her husband. Although progressive in his thinking, Abraham thought she was ungrateful for not acknowledging his support for her professional status. In a letter to Mary during her absence, he wrote, "If you had less temper, and more patience, and a less exaggerated conviction of what is due to you, you might have recognized the fact that I have done a great deal for you." But what Abraham saw as a "quiet and rational" existence, Mary saw as confinement.

Recap: The Heart of a Hero (chapters 1-143)
As promised, here’s a recap of most of The Heart of a Hero. Including 144-147 pretty much doubled the length since I was going play-by-play, so I’ll just leave those for y’all to reread if you need it. This’ll be a long one, so let’s just dive in
Class 1-B spent its first year trying and eventually succeeding at proving their merit compared to their sister class, 1-A. Kendo led them as class rep with some unofficial, volatile leadership coming from her childhood friend Monoma. Throughout the first semester, they would face a disguised All Might in combat, battle villains during their weeklong internships after a less-than-stellar Sports Festival Performance, take on their teachers in Final Exams that would push students such as Ibara and Monoma to the breaking point, and finally, survive a hellish camping trip and watch All Might fight his last battle. Soon after, they would move into dorms together, and it was around this time that Monoma and Kendo would begin a romantic relationship.
Up next came their License Exam, which saw them take on the multinational hero school Gaikoku Academy and their haughty leader, Victoria Hope, only to then join together in the second phase alongside four students from Isamu High School. Against the mock-villainesses Ryukyu and Nejire, the three schools prevailed together and received their provisional hero licenses. Not long after, they finally proved their mettle in a training battle against 1-A, besting them. Things were looking up for the class. That’s when Head Games enters the scene.
Head Games was a criminal group focused on designing, creating, and selling black market support items and weapons. They had first run afoul of the pro heroes and some of 1-B during the post-Sports Festival internships. While their hired muscle, the electrically powered Overdrive, was defeated and imprisoned, their mysterious leader, Kashiko Dokasuru escaped.
In December, 1-B would again run into this group, this time as their main targets. Looking to make a name for themselves as an independent villain group, Head Games lured them into a killing game with Kendo as the bait. The rest of the class went out to Head Games’ base and fought against their pre-chosen opponents. Ibara and Tetsutetsu defeated the weapon designer Yusen Setsuzoku and his tank, the Goliath Maxim. Kaibara and Tsuburaba took down their costume maker Airi Yokubo. Reiko, Kinoko, Shishida, and Kamakiri defeated their researcher Densen Byoki. Pony had a close call with the assassin Rocket, AKA Atsuen Sokudo, as did Shoda when he and Awase fought the item designer Suberidai Musei.
Yui had a reunion with her older brother Mugon Kodai, now going by the villain name Hush, one of the top officers of Head Games. His goal was to leave this life with Yui, convinced that the people he’s helped outfit with weapons will be too strong for anyone to handle. Yui refuses to leave her friends or her dream behind. Mugon tries to force Yui to submit and leave the country with him, but he is defeated. The truth of his involvement with Head Games stemming from trying to protect Yui from Head Games’ reprisal is left unsaid. An even closer call came from the battle between the battle-hungry assassin Chimera and Honenuki, Kuroiro, Bondo, and Manga, where Honenuki was forced to take a dosage of Trigger than ended the fight in his favor, but nearly made him lose himself to it. Setsuna and Rin’s battle nearly ended in death as they contended with the pair borrowed from the League of Villains, Dabi and Toga. Rin’s determination to live on and save his partner pushed his Quirk to new heights, unlocking the Full Dragon transformation, but the stress nearly killed him when Dabi’s desperate last stand struck his chest. Thanks to Kuroiro, though, he pulled through.
Monoma’s battle to save Kendo ended in failure as the Quirkless brawler Seijo Senbo nearly beat him to death, but Kendo cut a deal to save him, giving herself up to Kashiko’s Quirk, Absorption. Unfortunately, Kashiko had no intention of truly keeping her word and used Kendo’s Quirk to attack Monoma. Only the timely arrival of Tetsutetsu and Ibara saved him. Kendo was freed by the two, but in the confusion of a flashbang, they were absorbed by Kashiko in her place. In her rage, Kendo freed herself, letting her finally bring Kashiko down while Monoma, given a boost of confidence by Kendo’s freedom, defeated Seijo. Class 1-B had won the day, though it wasn’t without their fair share of physical and mental injuries.
The interim stories Draconic, Atlas, and Wild West Hero take place between this night and the beginning of their second school year. Draconic follows the psychological struggles felt by Setsuna and Rin after their near-fatal battle. With Ryukyu’s help, the pair accept what happened and what they need to do to heal. Atlas shows Kamakiri’s sparring bout with his new twin katanas against the hero Yoroi Musha. Though he doesn’t earn a place as an intern, Yoroi Musha assures him that his skills are great and that such a position may not be far off. Wild West Hero sees Pony visiting home and reunite with her now-retired aunt, the hero Cow Lady, as well as Pony’s visiting girlfriend, Melissa Shield.
With the new school year comes a new student in Hitoshi Shinso. Now sporting 21 students, Class 2-B is set to make waves at the inter-school meet, the Academy Clash, alongside their sister class. It’s here that we see Gaikoku Academy and Isamu High School team with Ketsubutsu High School and Shiketsu Academy in a joint team to take on 2-B, as there is an odd number of classes at the event. A lot rides on 2-B’s shoulders, as not only is this Shinso’s first real outing as a Hero Course student, but several students are being scouted for internships. Yoroi Musha is giving Kamakiri another chance to show him his swordsmanship, Ryukyu wants to see where Rin and Setsuna are after working through their pain in Draconic, and Miruko has taken an interest in Kendo.
During the battle, multiple groups split off and took on their share of opponents, with some growing a good deal in the heat of the fight. Setsuna, having decided that Rin is too nervous about her being in danger, is able to show off her strength by defeating Shishikura alone. Kaibara holds his own against Makabe, realizing that projectiles may be another way he can augment his fighting skills with support items. With help from Reiko and Awase, Shinso is able to assist in the defeat of three opponents. Honenuki leads Kuroiro, Bondo, and Manga against Inasa Yoarashi, wondering if he’s even close to his level after seeing him long ago in the Recommended Students’ assessment, and ultimately falls against him. This isn’t without bringing Inasa to the brink, though, and the four boys are succeeded by Rin, who is able to finally perform his Full Dragon transformation for the second-ever time and finish off Inasa. Against Shindo, who had been antagonizing him all afternoon for his unassuming appearance, Shoda is able to turn the tides and take him down. Finally, despite a brief panic attack where she imagines still being the captive of Head Games, Kendo is able to pull herself together in her rematch against Victoria Hope. With support items sent from I-Island’s Melissa Shield — a Full Gauntlet built for her hand’s size — Kendo is able to put down her rival just as the buzzer beeps. In the end, 2-B is victorious.
Those who had been scouted receive their internships, but Kendo doesn’t take hers yet, citing that she still has much to work out regarding her trauma. Miruko says the offer is available for the future, and Kendo has one last talk with Victoria Hope. Victoria talks about how her jump in strength hadn’t been just from training, but from an emerging idea among Quirk studies that extreme danger could force about changes in a Quirk. This “Sudden Evolution” as she calls it could bring about amazing growth and branching abilities in Quirks, and Kendo connects this possible phenomenon to a few similar instances in this past, from Shoda’s first use of Surge Impact and Rin’s unlocking of his Full Dragon form on the night of the Head Games battle, to all the way back to their battle against All Might when Monoma unconsciously used two Quirks at the same time. Victoria goes on to say that her own grew while fighting a strange enemy who seemed to have a transformative Quirk that turned his skin to bronze, but also could release sound attacks. Victoria warns Kendo of big things yet to happen and the event ends.
After the Academy Clash, 2-B enjoyed a semester without any major happenings, but with certain problems bubbling under the surface. Despite taking a mutual interest in Tatami Nakagame after the Academy Clash, Yui is unable to hold back her true feelings. Her hidden, lasting love for Kendo is revealed to the other girls, with Yui deciding that it isn’t the right time to say something. Having bonded with Nakagame, she tries to start a relationship with her, but after the first date, Yui realizes that letting go isn’t as easy as she’d like. Setsuna and Rin begin their internship with Ryukyu in an explosive way, fighting with her and Nejire, who at this point has changed her hero name to Wavelength, against the notorious Volcano Thieves. They win in the end, but are left with more questions than answers. Somehow, two of their members had been modified with mechanic enhancements and impossible-looking cybernetic implants. The third member’s special baton is able to lead the search back to Head Games, showing that their old items are still on the black market. Finally, and most importantly, is the sunrise tattoo with the kanji for “new” on each of their bodies.
During this time, Melissa Shield’s schooling at I-Island ends and she winds up in Japan on an extended vacation, bringing with her a pair of modified Full Gauntlets to replace the one Victoria Hope had broken. Kendo takes them and agrees to Awase’s name suggestion of the B.F.G.s while she is ecstatic about the upgrade. Pony is overjoyed, as is U.A.’s tech maniac Hatsume. Melissa and Hatsume end up bonding, working together on items such as a metal ball for Kaibara to spin-pitch at enemies and a not-yet-seen pair of special shoes for Shoda. Hatsume also shows she has reverse-engineered certain Head Games items like their Concussion Discs, happy to give inventions like these a new life as the tools of heroes. Melissa is glad to hear this and wishes to have the same ideals as she works her own internship as a Junior Developer at Kaiburu Labs. We’re also told that item manufacturers like Kaiburu Labs had been seeing many items and blueprints stolen mysteriously.
Shortly after this, two more chance meetings set the stage for a new menace to emerge. Kendo and Miruko, in stopping as robbery, have a chance meeting with a former hero called Deep Crimson, now a civilian who had been one of the robbery’s hostages. Kendo doesn’t recognize her at first, but Miruko does and is not happy to see her. Deep Crimson had been in jail for quite a while and needed clearance by a therapist to be released, having done something despicable long ago. Kendo tells herself that people can always change, but something sinister is indeed brewing with Deep Crimson at the center.
After this, while chaperoning Pony’s and Melissa’s day on the town in Zerutoro, Vlad encounters what seems to be a low-tier villain enjoying using his Quirk to make others suffer. He catches the villain and finds the same tattoo on his person that the Volcano Thieves had, and learns that on July 2nd, something terrible would happen in Zerutoro. The villain then disappears from out of Vlad’s grasp, likely teleported by some unseen villain’s Quirk. During all of this, Vlad reminisces about his past, including the time he was comforted by an upperclassman after a terrible showing at his first Sports Festival. The third-year student had told him that none of it mattered in the end and that the festival was terrible anyway, giving an unfair advantaged to physical fighters and those with flashy, destructive Quirks while leaving those with more niche abilities behind. Vlad doesn’t catch her name, but knew her by her hero name of Deep Crimson.
After everyone in 2-B passes their final exams for the semester, they and 2-A are asked for volunteers to assist on July 2nd. 10 from each class agree to go and are briefed on this mysterious organization. On the day of the attack, Kendo and Monoma fight against the bronze-skinned enemy Victoria had warned them about, “Sound Shocker” Bell, and find his skin to be merged with bronze plating while the sound attacks were his true Quirk. They go outside after defeating Bell to find Zerutoro in chaos and their classmates not doing nearly as well. Ibara had been frozen solid by another villain, Frostbiter, who also badly mangles Tetsutetsu’ hand with his icy teeth. Only through the intervention of Shoji, Bakugo, and Kirishima do they escape. Pony, Honenuki, Todoroki, and Midoriya take on the most destructive villain, Tusk, who seems to truly possess two Quirks — a transformation Quirk that changes him into a mammoth, and a rusting Quirk that corrodes anything in his vicinity. Armed with Trigger, he ruins much of Zerutoro and nearly crushes Pony, who is narrowly saved by Honenuki. Iida stops to help, joined soon by Kuroiro and Ojiro, only they are being chased. A large, musclebound villain with red skin and steam pipes built into his flesh begging to be attacked more is on their tails, and Kuroiro and Honenuki run for it. The situation is the same all over with such menaces as the bat woman with shocking kicks, a brutish cyborg with an explosive third eye, and a woman with razor straw under her command. This last villain reveals to Miruko that this group is called the New Power Generation, and their aim to dismantle Hero Society.
Operation: Nightfall, as the villains call it, comes to an end soon after. A lava-powered villain far stronger than Volcano encroaches on a safe space for civilians, leaving Rin and Ryukyu as the only ones capable of fighting him. The burning-hot Hellhound nearly takes Rin out, but Ryukyu dives in the way just in time to take the hit, leaving her on the verge of death. The villains leave after this with the same disappearing trick, leaving behind Bell as the only prisoner for the heroes, but not without taking one more thing. Monoma had stumbled upon Deep Crimson in an alleyway alongside a well-dressed blond man who seemed to be giving orders over an earpiece. Just as he puts two and two together, Monoma is attacked. In the aftermath, all heroes and students are accounted for except Monoma. The only trace that his companion could find is his blood and his tie.
At the hospital, Kendo is in a daze, unable to process the loss of the one closest to her and with only a stopwatch her had let her borrow to hang onto. Pony is shell-shocked after her near-death experience. Yui is wracked with guilt, feeling as though her wish from long ago to be rid of Monoma inadvertently caused his disappearance. Setsuna is furious at Rin, who is ashamed at his reckless behavior. Reiko’s intervention brings Setsuna to her senses about how Rin is feeling just after Vlad gives the boy a pep-talk. They are both told after making up that Ryukyu is awake, though likely not for long. Ryukyu assures Rin that it wasn’t his fault and that she’s proud of him. Motivated to not forget the lesson he’s learned, Rin cuts off his braid, vowing on it to never put those he cares for in jeopardy again.
All Might and Tsukauchi deliberate on their next move and the identity of their enemy’s ringleader. All they know so far is that he’s likely the one modding people’s bodies. Whoever took Monoma was likely blending into the crowd, they’ve concluded, and there’s nothing Bell can tell them. Tsukauchi’s instinct tell him that Bell’s memories of their organization have been blocked through another’s Quirk as his own lie-detecting Quirk has been ineffective. Though Tsukauchi is hesitant to bring in students for any upcoming mission involving this group, All Might argues in their defense, saying that with one of their own taken, they’d be all the more motivated to do something. Tsukauchi is convinced to start of the Team Up Mission initiative, putting All Might’s words to the test.
