The thing about Sadeas is YES he is the pinnacle of Vorin masculinity. But he does miss women’s food sometimes. He does go man I’d kill for some orange chicken. So he has orange chicken in secret. Anyone who asks will get that he’s eating Kung pao chicken. But in reality he is eating orange chicken and it is sooooooo good.

Late breakfast came packed from the coffee shop near to our house. Mum had the Braised Duck Porridge (卤鸭粥) with braised peanuts, extra duck meat and no skin. The plain congee had a ladle of the dark fragrant braising sauce added to give it flavours.
My Economy Rice (菜饭) box had a large braised pork belly taking up half the space with stewed eggplant (aubergine / brinjal) and sweet & sour pork taking up the rest of the box.

okay veggie stir fry today for dinner. i think i probably could have cooked some of the veggies longer they didn't feel quite done. maybe i should try cutting the green beans differently too? i've never done stir fry though so in general even if it wasn't *great* i still ate at least half of it and i think i can try again soon. i'm probably gonna do omurice/egg rice tomorrow since i have some leftover rice to use up and i can let it sit in my fridge. either way i'm happy i was able to try some new veggies and i'm hoping that i can make it again soon and it'll be better

Sweet and Sour Sauce
(Chinese Style)
Ingredients
▢ 1 cup pineapple juice
▢ 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
▢ 1/2 cup rice vinegar
▢ 1/4 cup ketchup
▢ 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
▢ 3 drops red food coloring , optional
▢ 1 tablespoon cornstarch
▢ 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
Add the pineapple juice, light brown sugar, rice vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, and food coloring to a saucepan on medium heat.
Stir well until it comes to a boil.
Mix the water and cornstarch and add it to the saucepan.
Whisk well until the cornstarch is fully incorporated and the sauce has thickened.
Allow to cool slightly before serving
