Hi I'm very fascinated by your dragon svsss au and I got a question if you're still open for them! It's regard SY!SQQ, bc in the first pic that you uploaded of the au he's noticeably more clothed than LQG and in the last comic you made the joke that he's wondering where his clothes are. Now to my question: is this different to how Shen Jiu used to dress because Shen Yuan had some modesty concerns from his former life or did he always cover up more? Or is Liu Qingge just unusually exposed in comparison to the other dragon Peak Lords? Anyway I hope you have a good day!

First of all sorry it took so long to answer your ask oTL (Got busy and distracted)

To answer your first question, SY!Sqq wears the same kind of clothing that SJ!Sqq did, he does feel kinda weird about being so exposed for a while but gets to learn Very Quickly that most everyone dresses like this. So yeah he has modesty concerns but learns to hide his embarrassment very quick because if everyone else is doing it, it isn’t as weird!

Lqg is more exposed than the other peak lords 😂 I’ll get back to that in a second.

SO. Some worldbuilding lore~

Draconic peak lords, having ascended to full dragon hood, can shift between forms easily and so as mentioned above prefer to have less clothing that is easier to move around in. Normal draconic cultivators mimic those styles to some degree despite not being capable of shifting forms fully.

So less clothing = Shifts into other draconic forms more often. Lqg likes to hunt and travel and be in a draconic form a lot so he…doesn’t care much for clothing.

Yqy you’ll notice is very clothed and that’s because he just doesn’t ever shift to other draconic forms for sad reasons, and also to cover up as much of his scales as possible.

The other fun clothing headcannons (is it headcannons for an au??) I have are that the style and complexity of clothing also depends on the ranking of the peak and draconic hierarchy. Like Sqq has more jewelry and gems and Sqh has much simpler clothing and no gems. Lqg has gems because they’re a gift from Sqq.

The other reason for being so scantily clad is that draconic cultivation takes a Lot of time and effort, some more so than others, so people who have beaten their way to the top and ascended to dragonhood like to show off their scales and draconic features. Ahem Sj cough cough

Since Gaia is the earth itself. Just because she's asleep, doesn't mean she's completely incapable of interactions (from what I saw in the books anyway with the Leo stuff). Paired with the fact that Athena is capable of making children simply from thoughts, I thought maybe; what if Gaia could do that same?|

Imagine a mortal nature lover that spent most of their days advocating for the better well-being of the earth. How maybe they've always lived for the earth and with the earth? Maybe they were a farmer, a gardener. If the earth could feel the love its received, wouldn't it basically count as Gaia accepting some type of worship?

The same way how some gods would… gift children as a compliment or a blessing for their mortal partners, I thought maybe Gaia could basically will a baby out of a plant with the *cough* bodily.. fluids... (blood or.. whatever) that seeped into the earth. So I guess it's kinda like a 'babies come from a stork' story. So Scar's mortal parent would've basically been fine another day but would suddenly have their life turned upside down the next day as soon as they see a child in their garden they don't remember having.

Other than that, I thought it'd be cool to see a story following a child of Gaea that has to choose the destruction of their friends or the freedom of their mother.

Scar would've grown up to be a papa's boy ofc, but his dad has taught him to love nature and the earth so much that he honestly wouldn't mind the possiblity of being able to interact with the mom he's been taught to worship his entire life.

So today I’m doing something a bit different cos why not.. this week I got a comment on an older fic from ao3 user starspangledwriter (hello) that lead to a lovely conversation about the Buddie of it all and why they mean so much to me. The person I was chatting to suggested it might be nice to share here, so I am.

And also just to say this is what i think we writers love/hope for with comments, it’s not about wanting people to say nice things (which is obviously lovely) but having a chat about my beloveds and the story I created.

Fifteen Minutes 1.4k

“You look happy.”

Buck smiles at Eddie because he’s right, he is happy. He hasn’t been for a while but today he is, he might not have everything he wants but right now he’s happy to be in this place with these people.

He takes a deep breath and says that around his smile  “I am.” He scans Bobby and Athena’s living room takes in its occupants all chatting and laughing together. “Everyone I love is here.” He looks at Eddie expecting to see him smiling but he’s sees a frown instead. Eddie doesn’t look at him when he says,

“I didn’t see Taylor arrive. Is she here?”

Oh yeah that. He hasn’t actually told Eddie yet has he.

“Um no” he says casually. He can see Eddie trying to process that, he’s adorable when he’s confused.

“But you just said.”

“I know what I said.” He replies also not looking as he confirms the news that Taylor is not here and that he’s worked out he doesn’t love her. There’s a pause, he can’t resist a quick look at Eddie so he catches it when it finally clicks.  Eddie says  “oh”  and Buck sees a smile flash across his face like quicksilver before he wipes it away. There and gone again, so quick Buck might have imagined it. He’s pretty sure he hadn’t though. There’s another moment of silence before Eddie asks the question good friends are supposed to in these circumstances.

“You ok?”

“Yup like I said everyone I love is here. I’m perfect.”

He should probably distract Eddie or he might get interrogated as to why he’s broken up with his girlfriend and that’s a conversation he’s not keen to have. He doesn’t like lying especially to Eddie and any explanation as to why he did what he did is going to reveal more than he’d like.

He can practically hear Eddie thinking, his mouth opens and he just knows the next sentence is going to start with why so Buck jumps in.

“Did you know the Ancient Greeks thought there were 7 types of love.”

Eddie’s expression changes instantly and settles into something softer as he says “No Buck I didn’t, but I guess I’m about to find out huh?” He thinks Eddie looks quite happy about it. No one else looks at him like that when he’s infodumping. It makes him feel warm all over.

“Well” Buck twists towards Eddie and leans in without thinking.

There’s philia that’s family love so like how I feel  for Maddie and Chim. Bobby and Athena too really and Hen. That’s for the people you love and trust cos you know they’ll always be there for you.

Eddie nods.

“All of  us have kinda got agape; that’s universal love for others, it’s why we do what we do, help people.”

And like Hen and Karen they’ve been together for years so they’ve got pragma that’s long lasting love, it’s just there warm and steady. But they’ve got eros too, that’s you know,  desire and stuff.”

Eddie chuckles “I guess Bobby and Athena have that if the firefighter role play is  anything to go by.”

“Eww I just told you they’re like my parents, why would you do that to me. It was bad enough first time round.” He shakes himself to clear the image and Eddie laughs.

“What else? That’s only five.”

He carries on “Well there’s ludus” he’s hoping to skim over the last two “that’s about sex without commitment, just for fun.” He doesn’t say that’s what he had with Taylor and that was why he’d ended it. He doesn’t say he wants something different from life now and that he’d thought he could find it with her but he'd been wrong.

Eddie purses his lips and nods “ok” that seems to be it, Eddie seems happy to move on from that one too.

“And there’s the love parents feel for their kids that’s called storge.”

“So what I feel for Chris and what Bobby feels for you?”

He can feel his cheeks heating “You and Chris yeah, for sure”  he looks over at Bobby, it’d be nice if Bobby felt like that. His thoughts must be written all over his face or maybe Eddie’s just good at reading him.

“I think he does” Eddie says gently, Buck shrugs the colour high in his cheeks.

“What about you and Chris?” Eddie asks. Buck hesitates, cheeks getting pinker by the second. He doesn’t know how he’s supposed to answer that. Which answer Eddie wants. He risks a look at him, he looks the same, smiling fondly. He waits and when Buck doesn’t answer he says “You're allowed to feel it you know, say it, if you want to.”

“Am I?” All his doubts are on show.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASK!!! i am SO glad that i could get this au to live in someone else's brain rent free too. all i could ever ask for in life tbh i guess i'll infodump about character backstories, dynamics, character arcs, all that juicy stuff putting it under cut because HO BOY THIS IS GONNA GET LONG

as a heads up, take the timeframes i give you with a grain of salt, because i still havent completely figured out the timeline so first of all, vox!! he's a sinner, died in the 1950s, as per canon. he's a businessman, but less stable than in canon. he's always jumping from job to job, business to business, which results in him having a lot of connections with various people around hell. soon after arriving in hell, he met and became friends with alastor. cut to, i'd say around 7-10 years before the events of the story? alastor disappears without a trace during an extermination and vox assumes him dead. having now been personally touched by the effects of the extermination, the idea to try and solve overpopulation another way is planted in his head, but wont come to fruition until much later. in the meantime he meets velvette - finds her bleeding out in an alleyway after getting too cocky and trying to fight back to an exorcist (bad idea). he nurses her back to health, they become friends and eventually start dating, yada yada yada. one day vox and velvette find a funky little cat (keekee). keekee takes a liking to them and leads them to the old ruins of a building up on the hill on the edge of pentagram city. they figure out that the cat turns into a keyblade that can be used to magically build shit (only the hotel though, as keekee is the spirit of the hotel or??? whatever the hell the canon lore is idk???) vox finally decides to realize his idea to try and solve overpopulation more humanely - through redeeming sinners! his reasoning is, if angels can fall (as proven by lute and charlie), then demons can surely ascend, right? though he's not as sure or idealistic about it as charlie is in canon. he simply thinks it has a chance of working, and opening up a hotel means a bigger sample size than if he were to just try and get into heaven himself or something like that. besides, he wouldnt wanna go to heaven, he likes it here. also, im not sure where this is situated in the timeline yet, but he was in a band with adam, lute and possibly eve at some point? the band is called brimstone eden, as mentioned in the comic i posted. im not sure yet whether he was in the band prior to eve's disappearance or after it (eve disappears 7 years before the story starts to mirror canon lilith). swap!vox, like his canon counterpart, is a very reactive person. he follows trends, he's extremely go-with-the-flow to a fault. he never really had any strong beliefs until the hotel - his character arc mainly involves him gaining something to believe in and learning to fight for that belief, 'ready for this' being more or less the culmination of his arc. jesus christ i cant believe i wrote that much JUST on vox. *slaps the top of his head* this boy can fit so much lore in him

now, velvette... she's how you'd expect her to be. same old brave, arrogant velvette. she's a fashion designer and seamstress and runs a moderately sized business which she promotes on sinstagram. she's mutuals with val there, which is how he finds out about the hotel. there's not much to write home about when it comes to val - it's insane how similar angel and him are. like literally barely anything changes when you swap them, it's very clean. he's a prn star, sold his soul to angel dust, yada yada. though a bit on his dynamic with vox - vox is very good at reading people, and doesn't like being lied to (he's a bit of a hypocrite in that regard - he puts on a facade all the time when in professional settings). he can clearly tell val isnt doing as good as he pretends he is, and wants to help him really badly, but val just sees it as vox pitying him and rejects his help (its what they fight about in ep 4, as a counterpart to the whole "charlie going to the studio" thing bc vox wouldnt do that) and now here's the fun part - ALASTOR! oh, alastor, you beautiful stuck up bitch! so turns out, he's not so dead after all! he ALMOST died in that fateful extermination, but husk found him and offered him a "give me your soul right now or bleed out in this alleyway" type deal. of course alastor chose the former, but boy he's not happy about it. he's extremely ashamed of how far he's fallen. so ashamed, in fact, that he hid from the world for those 7-10 years! yeah! he's only pulled out of hiding when husk summons him to be the bartender for the hotel. vox is of course, extremely bewildered and demands answers. alastor doesnt give them and avoids him instead. it takes a sincere conversation with valentino in ep 4 for alastor to finally talk to vox again and explain himself. alastor is basically in extremely deep denial of just how fucked his life is. he clings onto his radio demon persona like a lifeline bc its the last thing that can help him feel some semblance of control over his situation. his tension with valentino is twofold - first they butt heads because of opposing personalities, and second because they both see the other's bullshittery. it's a clusterfuck it eventually bubbles over in ep 4, they both admit how absolutely fucked they are and are friends now. wish i could say more on al & val bc i love them very much but it seems ive run out of eloquency for now. though i know i'll draw some comics of them eventually so maybe it'll come across better in comic form. anyway as mentioned above ive run out of eloquency and im honestly not sure how coherent this whole thing is so you'll have to come back for the other characters some other time, dear anon! until then, thank you so much for the ask once again, and have a nice day/night :)

Freddy is the peacemaker/glue/dad in the group 

Vanessa has been working for a while to make a body for Freddy, though the lack of parts available for him has slowed things down. They resorted to stealing from warehouses and recycling everyday items to create a makeshift body for him. Though it's only halfway completed in the present.  

He's really good at singing. Oftentimes, he finds himself singing lullabies to Gregory or singing along to tunes during road trips. 

He misses his friends a lot of the time, and he’s still a little frustrated with Gregory for treating them with cruelty.

and yes, i do!! a few actually, heh. i've talked a little bit about the youkai & denki mystery aus i have for kuroba before and i really love those, but i think my favorite might actually be their royalty / prince au. which i haven't really talked about before so uh. i hope you don't mind, but i'm gonna use this as a excuse to ramble about it.

i'll put my infodumping under a cut bc it might get long, but here's their designs for the au. 🤭

SO. kuroba comes from a commoner household, but because their grandfather was the royal gardener to the matsuno family and they acted as his apprentice, they've basically lived their entire life on the castle grounds in spite of their status. they've gotten to meet and come to befriend quite a few people of a higher social status than them, the most notable being the 2nd prince of the matsuno royal family, karamatsu.

they first met as children, when karamatsu ran away from his caretakers to hide in the gardens and cry by himself. kuroba had been helping with cleaning up the rose beds that day and stumbled upon him. they've always been the meddling type and can't leave others alone when they're upset so they sat with him and tried to comfort him to the best of their ability, ( even if it was just providing him company and a hand to squeeze while he cried. ) after that, karamatsu became very curious about kuroba and would often visit the gardens in the hopes of spending time with them. the two became very close over time, with him following them around the gardens as they worked and running to them whenever he needed a shoulder to cry on ( which they were always happy to provide. )

they're still very close as adults despite some things changing, like karamatsu adopting a more flashy personality to stand out more amongst his brothers and kuroba taking over their grandfather's role as royal gardener. a lot of the things stayed the same, though.

however, their close friendship starts posing some issues within the royal counsel. one of the princes having such an intimate relationship ( and obvious infatuation ) with a commoner is unsightly in the eyes of the nobility and could make them question the integrity & stability of the crown. so iyami, ( who's a sketchy noble adviser to king matsuzou, ) proposes that karamatsu be engaged to duchess dobusu to help quell the rumors going around about kuroba and him. matsuzou agrees and even though he tries to protest it, kara eventually agrees to go along with it for the sake of his family and kuroba.

when karamatsu tells them the news, kuroba takes it pretty well and congratulates him with a smile... or at least, that's the reaction he gets out of them. in reality, they're fucking devastated because they've been harboring feelings for him for years at that point. they already accepted the fact that they could never be together, but that doesn't make the reality of the situation hurt any less. still, they want to support karamatsu and be happy for them so they're taking the truth about their feelings for him to the grave. ( that's what they planned on doing, at least. )

they slowly drift apart after that ; karamatsu's visits to the gardens become less frequent, kuroba stops personally delivering fresh arrangments to karamatsu's quarters, they barely even greet each other when crossing paths. it doesn't help that iyami got into kuroba's ear, warning them that they should keep their distance from kara to preserve his reputation and not lose their job — which they really can't afford as the main breadwinner for their family. neither of them are happy with how things have changed, but there's not much they can do about it.

as karamatsu and dobusu's engagement party draws closer and kuroba has to help with the decorations, their discontent really bubbles to the surface. one of their noble friends, ( i haven't decided who yet lol, ) finds them crying and tries to comfort them, eventually convincing them to sneak into the party and dance with kara so they at least have one unforgettable memory of him to hold onto. with their help, they manage to do it with their identity hidden behind a mask.

things seem to go off without a hitch ; they'll be able to have to moment with karamatsu all for themself and basically no one will be the wiser. that is until they slip up and speak while dancing with him. they start to leave when he almost says their name, but he stops them and gives them the pine-shaped brooch he was wearing before letting them slip away. to make matters worse, iyami sees this all go down.

the events after that are a lot less plotted out, but i imagine some standard historical fantasy romance webtoon bullshit going down. like karamatsu trying to confront kuroba about that night, but them telling him to stop and leave them be. it's be some wild melodrama, which i do kinda live for.

the climax would probably be iyami staging some villainess-esque condemnation event to expose kuroba for sneaking into the party and get them kicked out of the castle. but queen matsuyo and some of the nobles kuroba had befriended come to their rescue. basically, they argue that if there's someone who's willing to be with karamatsu's annoying ass, then why would you force him onto someone else? none of the other nobles want him, please let kuroba have him so they don't have to deal with him. this includes dobusu, who agrees to give the royal family her duchy's support if they break off her engagement with karamatsu and let kuroba take him off her hands. so after getting matsuzou's approval, they live happily ever after theeeeeee end. there's probably other factors that could play into them getting together at the end, but yeah.

anyways thank you for coming to my rambling, i am so sorry it got this long. this is one of the aus i've thought about A LOT so i ended up having a lot to say. 😭

Imo twst can be enjoyed any way you want wether it's as a game you get invested into with the cards and stuff or just vibe w/ the fandom and appreciate the characters and stories through maybe fics or art or anything ! No need to even play the game.

Though the game does have aspects I appreciate like the guest room or judt being able to have your guys on the main screen and poke them non-stop, sometimes it also reminds me that "oh right this character is like that I kinda forgot" or just appreciate their seiyuus. (I try to guess who says "twisted wonderland" whenever Iopen the game and fail miserably necause I play 90% of the time w/ no sound :))))

+ When you look at it you see how much effort was put into the game and that it is loved, I'm honestly loving the lineless backgrounds !! + the costumes for event cards are always detailed, there was research put into the harveston or masquerade outfits !! (And the others as well tbh) + the soundtrack !!! Idia's dorm theme my beloved, I should really start chapter 6.....

I wanted to do this as an actual story, I had it geared up, but demand avoidance or whatever dictated that I didn’t fucking finish it, so I’m just gonna talk about what I was gonna write here:

So, recap, for anyone who hasn’t seen my other post, a Vulcan who recently graduated from the Academy has not gotten a ship assignment yet and is working on a case where a bunch of Academy students keep getting found with illegal contraband, and Starfleet wants to know where from

So the Vulcan, Nesheh, looks into it, based on advice they got from an older Vulcan who’s been in Starfleet for longer, and finds out that a popular establishment that always has rumors circulating around it because it employs mainly Orion women is connected to another establishment with almost the same name, that people thought was a coincidence

So Nesheh is thinking that the establishment (I forget what I called them, I think it was Veqqie’s: D&E, and plain Veqqie’s?) is doing something illegal, and they’re just using the second location to hide it, and that’s why they’ve never been caught

So Nesheh goes to confront Birdie (a Human friend of his that he may or may not have a crush on), cause Birdie works at the “unsuspicious” Veqqie’s

That’s where we left off, the conclusion:

Nesheh confronts Birdie, and Birdie agrees to reveal it all, why the other location mainly employs Orion women, why so many rumors run rampant, why the authorities never find anything suspicious in that location

The secret?

“There’s nothing illegal actually happening.”

D&E employs Orion women so that customers, mainly Human men, will think they can get away with something

It’s an entire script that comes from corporate

The Orion server escorts the customer(s) to their table, making sure to flirt and be very nice, but oh! they’re so packed! they can’t stay and talk anymore, they have to do their job 🥺 unless, you could buy this [horribly upmarked item on the menu] 🥺

Which is actually a really simply drink, but it’s made at the table, so the server can stay and talk longer, and they just keep doing that, getting every customer at every table to spend a wild amount of money, because the customers think they’ll get lucky

And why do they think they’ll get lucky? It’s not just because the servers are so nice, but because there’s always rumors being fueled

So why the second location? To help spread the rumors! Every time a customer comes in, Birdie “makes sure” that they know they’re at the right location and not that “sleazy other location” where the servers are “too friendly” with customers

(There’s also supposed to be a whole thing where Birdie works with a Ferengi who had no idea about any of this)

(Birdie also is specifically friends with some of the Orions and is like “those girls pay our bills, how tf do you think this location stays open?”)

Veqqie’s is in no way connected to any illegal stuff, it’s way more profitable for them to be on the right side of the law, it would’ve been a logical guess, but the world doesn’t just always work out “logically”

At this point, Nesheh would realize that it would’ve been incredibly logical for it to be this “shady” place ran by Orions, and he comes to a sickening realization that his Vulcan coworker is a part of the contraband ring and deliberately set him on the wrong path

I am so mad at myself not finishing the small fucking drabble, but at least now I have it written on a post!!

And the last time you'd moved, he hadn't even known until you'd emailed him a list of new addresses and places he could reach you whle you were working.

"Y/N this is all great but what does this-" Lois started, now flummoxed by what Philippine and her Cook book had to do with... anything.

You break off with a cough and look down, giving them a sheepish smile. "Sorry- I- rabbit holes. One thing runs into the next and-"

In the back of his head, he can still see you. Beaming at him. A new book on something clutched against your chest. Bought with money from your birthday and endless hours looking for cans and bottles to recycle. You'd read it until every detail was in your mind. And he tried not to hear Bruce's heart rate kick up a notch when you turned to go back to what you'd been sketching out for them. A roadmap to what they were looking for- A way to stop the end of the world. Cobbled together from a lifetime of falling into rabbit holes.

"We'll call," Clark said firmly. Trying not to squirm as you shoulder your bag. Making yourself smaller. Pulling your enthusiasm back and tucking it away. Like he'd seen you do anytime you didn't feel like being noticed anymore. Because being noticed was dangerous. "You go with her Lois-"

"Clark!" She looked at you for back up but before she can get her protests out, or before you can have to watch your friends do a whole dramatic good bye make out- you're gone. 6. What was their "flirting stage" like?

drawn-out, awkwardly sweet and painful for any potential witnesses to watch lol

and peter performs all the staple crushing moron teenage boy rituals, such as:

putting in efforts to spend as much time around curt as possible;

“subtly” inserting himself into curt’s personal space;

longingly staring at curt (from various heights and distances) (for varied stretches of time) (with or without curt’s knowledge);

getting very protective over curt when people so much as look at him the wrong way;

cracking jokes which land seven miles north of the mark;

and generally trying his best to impress the man of his dreams with everything he has (mainly his studies and superhero escapades).

he also brings curt food from takeout places (which are coincidentally the same eateries curt prefers) when the scientist is buried too deep in his work, claiming that he accidentally ordered too much or that the owner, a buddy of his (or spider-man’s), gave him a bonus portion, gives curt web-rides when it’s needed, shows him NY rooftops and his favorite photo spots, prods curt into infodumping about reptiles to him, and, when he finds out they have a shared love for punk rock music, initiates CD/playlist exchanges.

curt, for the first half of this stage in their relationship, is blissfully unaware (both out of general emotional intelligence score so low it borders on alexithymia and his subconscious trying to protect itself from the 100th total mental breakdown and blocking any attempts to think about any peter-induced heart palpitations too hard) that his feelings for peter are anything but friendship with some misdirected parental tendencies mixed in, ergo he doesn't understand that the way he acts towards peter can be construed as flirting. also he doesn't "flirt", thank you very much, he is too old and tired for that.

so there's surely nothing to it when peter goes from an occasional visitor to the expected and welcomed guest in curt’s home, with an extra serving of breakfast/lunch/dinner waiting for him. or when curt willingly takes part in peter’s playlist exchange program, as unused to talking about his interests as he is, even going through some old forgotten stashes for the recordings of some obscure band he thinks peter will enjoy. or when curt tells peter about exhibits or any other events that might catch peter’s interest (never explicitly suggesting they go together, but always with enough hooks to get peter to bring the possibility up himself). or when curt works light teasing remarks into their usual chatter because seeing peter blush and stutter is just too fun. or when he lets peter sleep in his bed and borrow his clothes when needed.

alas, one must see themself as loveable and desirable to recognize a display of romantic interest, so they remain oblivious to each other for quite some time.

7. How do their friends and family feel about them as a couple?

the general reaction: everyone is… apprehensive, but they learn to deal with it.

may is the one with the most objections to the couple. besides the obvious age gap + curt's criminal history, he has already abandoned their family in a difficult time and may's afraid he might do the same to peter again. but time passes, the two stay together through thick and thin, may figures out peter's secret (she keeps it to herself, but finds a little gratitude to curt for watching after her boy) and she grows to accept peter's choices in life and love.

gwen has a whole relationship development arc of her own with curt and no emotional energy left to have any opinions on peter dating him beyond being supportive of her friend. still, there's a strange aftertaste left in her mouth when she remembers that the man peter's in love with is the same one who murdered her father. gwen wants peter to be happy, but sometimes she also feels like he picked curt over her. three million feelings at the same time. infinite character study fic potential. time will maybe, maybe sort all of this out.

martha... no one told her, she just knows from the moment she sees them drop off billy together one time after a weekend. she's made a conscious decision to evict curt from her mind palace a long time ago and makes another one to ignore the fact that the twenty-something kid her ex's now dating (“finally some normal midlife crisis behavior”) has the same surname as curt's infamous ex. knowing how difficult curt can be to be involved with, martha's the tiniest bit concerned for peter's mental wellbeing.

billy is less concerned by the ethics of them dating and is way more concerned about losing even more of his already limited time with his dad to peter. peter, unfortunately, understands what it's like to miss a father, having lost two already, so he tries to ease billy's worries by convincing curt to reach out and spend more time with his son, providing ideas for activities they can do together and reassuring billy that he's not there to steal curt away. they also form a sort of older/younger brother bond during that time.

II. GENERAL

3. What was their first kiss like?

their first kiss is definitely initiated by peter, most likely as the last way left to stop curt from listing all the reasons they can’t be together for the third time in a row. it’s an open mouth kiss, clumsy and embarrassing for both of them, with too much flesh catching on teeth for two people who supposedly know how to properly kiss another human being, and with struggling too half-hearted on curt’s part.

their first kiss initiated by curt is on their first proper date, bashful and cautious at the beginning, slowly growing more passionate as they go on, but still slow and gentle, no matter how much peter struggles to speed things up. “if you will not listen to common sense and run from me, then you will at the very least let me figure out how to love you right”. breathless peter doesn’t wait to reach for another one.

15. What is their most common argument about?

you’d think they’d argue most about each other’s workaholic tendencies, but no.

they’re people who both take a lot of pride in what they do and use it as a way to cope with the stresses of their lives (“Sometimes when you're feeling helpless, the secret is to help someone else.” (c) ) so they have a mutual understanding of sorts, when one or both of them has to stay up late to work on their numerous projects.

they will still check up on each other to see that they’ll not work themselves to actual death.

III. LOVE

3. Who uses the cheesy pick-up lines, or does corny gestures?

peter peter peter -- cheesy, corny, hammy -- he is not a snack, he is the entire smorgasbord

texting curt with every terrible pick-up line? check!

leaving messages and hearts made out of webs where he knows curt will see them throughout his day? check!

bridal carrying curt while web-slinging with him? check!

totally-casually-not-at-all-insecure having his hands all over curt when in public and trying to make out with him at every opportunity? check!

at some point, very early in their relationship, curt has to sit peter down and tell him that yes, i love you with all my heart and you are perfectly good the way you are, but please, please can you turn the pda down

peter has… mixed feelings after that

as much as all the larger than life displays of affection are born out of his genuine love for curt and a desire to show the sad little man how much he means to peter by any means possible, at the root there are also his own insecurities, his fear of not being good enough and being left alone again. the more subtle, intimate ways to show love and connect with curt, like their at-home dinners and late night talks, feel way more vulnerable, the risk of accidentally getting too comfortable and revealing the less desirable parts of yourself is way too high. at least, if peter makes a fool of himself on purpose, he can at least feel in control of the situation, and if curt rejects him for it then peter can tell himself that he planned it all from the start.

they work it out though, with time. peter gets more comfortable with saying things true and beautiful, while still terrorizing curt with his shitty flirty texts.

IV. DOMESTIC LIFE

11. Who hogs the blankets or takes up more than their fair share of the bed? Who puts their cold feet on the other? Who are the big and little spoons?

BREAKING NEWS: the cold-blooded threat rears its snout once again, this time stealing all the blankets in the house because winter is coming and baby it's cold outside.

the jury's still out on whether this counts as proper stealing, since peter is hogged right alongside and he doesn't get an out from under them. not that peter minds, mind you, being wrapped so tightly in clean, warm linens and a loving embrace there's not a millimeter of space left between you two is the best thing to crawl into the bed to after an exhausting day.

so, who takes up more than their fair share of the bed?? no one, they sleep on the same half!!

the “putting his cold appendages on peter” part happens as a consequence of all that, not because curt harbours any secret desires to torment his boyfriend -- even if curt does find peter gasping, squirming and feigning indignation when he sneakily puts his fresh-from-outside-chill hand under peter's hoodie funny/cute -- it is simply in his nature ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

they both get to be whatever spoon they want when they wish to -- if you can call what they’re doing spooning, since they most often sleep face-to-face -- with curt being the big and peter the little spoon more often than the other way around. for peter this is one of the very few moments when he feels like he can with a clear conscience tuck himself into curt's chest, hide away from the world around and to not worry or even think about anything. for curt, peter sleeping peacefully under his watch is a great display of trust, which comes as a comfort and a boost to his sense of self-worth + holding sleeping boyfriend soothes some latent possessive dragon-on-gold-pile instinct lol

curt mostly little-spoons when he’s very tired, very distressed or very cold. or some combination of the three.

I haven't been posting much this past week because a lot of my creative energy is going towards 2 portal future fics i'm working on (one is the new chapter of knight and his sun, the other is an au where jaxon takes a civilian sabbatical after the drago 2781 sequence and develops a whistleblower organization on earth about the welfare of handicapped children)

All that to say though, i've been having lots of fun with the posts from the portal future blog! A couple of the urls are just extras (which may or may not develop into recurring characters in the future), but other than jarra there are 4 characters who i've got semi fleshed out in my mind. If you or anyone else wants to send an ask but doesn't know what to ask about, here's some inspo:

wallamcranesarchnemesis: jarra, but doesn't want anyone to know she's jarra. Tumblr is where she puts all the infodumps that her friends don't want to listen to. Ask her about her opinion on anything in history and she'll be super excited to talk about it. For maximum humour send her an ask about commander tell morrath and watch her fumble and try not to reveal her secret identity

onesmallstep: off-world student currently on earth for his pre-history foundation course! He's curious to get to know more about earth culture and is always willing to answer asks about what planet or sector he's from, what he thinks of earth, etc

nextstephome: a slightly older user who has interacted a few times with junglequeenstalea. They want to become a next step principal which is where their url comes from. Ask them about their "beef" with stalea, or anything about running a next step

talkarchaeologytome: an employee at new york main dig site command! Ask her about the solar 5 rescue or what it's like to work for dig site command

junglequeenstaleeeea: (4 e's in her name, don't get it wrong!) She's my favourite so far and i just feel very protective of her. Ask her about stalea of the jungle (isn't that show banned in next step??? It seems a bit inappropriate for a 14 year old...) or why she hates commander tell morrath so much lmao

Hello!!! Thank you for asking ^w^ I'm always happy to talk about my girl Estrela >:3

I'm very much willing to infodump abt her UwU but I will do it in separate posts, step by step! So feel free to ask more - even specific things about her you want to discover and her surroundings/family/background/relationship etc!

Now! I introduced some basic info in this post! I will now proceed to expand it with some fun facts about Estrela's origins as an OC!

Origins: Estrela is actually a very old OC of mine. I think I created her "beta" version in 2010 or so? I never posted her online but I still have some old drawings of her somewhere at home - not going to show them since they were, hu, the opposite of good-looking x3

I literally created her in the first place just because I needed, at the time, an excuse for Ludwig to have a random girlfriend and a daughter later in life. Her original name was Stella, the Italian name for "star". She was a sort of Royal Koopa/Tarrasquin but shorter, without spikes on her shell and without horns (maybe I thought of it as a softer subspecies of Royal Koopas? I really can't remember rn).

Let's say that A LOT of things changed from 14 years ago!

The only details that I kept are basically her hair and eyes colors and her name's meaning - "Estrela" comes from the Spanish word "estrella", that still means "star". I now see her having a star-shaped birthmark on the back of her shell - something I want to show you if I'll do a reference sheet for my OCs and HC versions of the characters x3

Still talking about names: Estrela's sisters, or half-sisters to be accurate, share a similar style for their names: the older one is named Dorada, while the middle one is named Celestiel (I can't wait to show them to you, as soon as I'll be able to draw decently again on PC). Their mother, that all the three share, was the one naming them.

Intro abt her relationship with Ludwig: In my 2010 version, I think they were just childhood friends that ended up in love when teen/young adults if I remember correctly, but it was a bit plain and too straightforward for my current tastes.

Nowdays, instead, (the new) Estrela met Ludwig thanks for a shared passion: music, specifically playing in an orchestra! In fact, she was able to enter the young Tarrasquin's personal orchestra as a violist at some point, after she could not join any of the Mushroom Kingdom's orchestras due them being already full. Here she met the director himself, he noticed her skill and... what happened next it's a long and complex story, I'll maybe tell you one day ;3
