Hi I'm very fascinated by your dragon svsss au and I got a question if you're still open for them! It's regard SY!SQQ, bc in the first pic that you uploaded of the au he's noticeably more clothed than LQG and in the last comic you made the joke that he's wondering where his clothes are. Now to my question: is this different to how Shen Jiu used to dress because Shen Yuan had some modesty concerns from his former life or did he always cover up more? Or is Liu Qingge just unusually exposed in comparison to the other dragon Peak Lords? Anyway I hope you have a good day!

First of all sorry it took so long to answer your ask oTL (Got busy and distracted)

To answer your first question, SY!Sqq wears the same kind of clothing that SJ!Sqq did, he does feel kinda weird about being so exposed for a while but gets to learn Very Quickly that most everyone dresses like this. So yeah he has modesty concerns but learns to hide his embarrassment very quick because if everyone else is doing it, it isn’t as weird!

Lqg is more exposed than the other peak lords 😂 I’ll get back to that in a second.

SO. Some worldbuilding lore~

“Dragon fashion is designed to transition easily between forms and allow a tail to move freely, and dragons don’t care much about nudity or exposure-

Clothes expand at the waist and are slit at the sides to accommodate a larger, more serpentine form, and come off quickly and easily if you want to get really big.”

Draconic peak lords, having ascended to full dragon hood, can shift between forms easily and so as mentioned above prefer to have less clothing that is easier to move around in. Normal draconic cultivators mimic those styles to some degree despite not being capable of shifting forms fully.

So less clothing = Shifts into other draconic forms more often. Lqg likes to hunt and travel and be in a draconic form a lot so he…doesn’t care much for clothing.

Yqy you’ll notice is very clothed and that’s because he just doesn’t ever shift to other draconic forms for sad reasons, and also to cover up as much of his scales as possible.

The other fun clothing headcannons (is it headcannons for an au??) I have are that the style and complexity of clothing also depends on the ranking of the peak and draconic hierarchy. Like Sqq has more jewelry and gems and Sqh has much simpler clothing and no gems. Lqg has gems because they’re a gift from Sqq.

The other reason for being so scantily clad is that draconic cultivation takes a Lot of time and effort, some more so than others, so people who have beaten their way to the top and ascended to dragonhood like to show off their scales and draconic features. Ahem Sj cough cough

More plots I can’t get out of my head:

Dragon/dragon rider fantasy story told from the point of view of the dragon, who absolutely views its squishy little mortal human pet as the cutest fucking thing ever.

Lou Binghe just being absolutely terrifying and rare and powerful and DRAGON! And then here is this very strait laced proper and dignified Shen Quingqiu as his rider, rather concerned about how absolutely smitten (and terrifying) his dragon is for him and refusing to even look at any of the female dragons they try to match with him. LBH not liking the idea of any other humans or dragons sharing the same space as them. Blocking others with his tail or his wings when they try to interrupt him looking lovingly at his rider, while feigning it as a clumsy accident. Always making sure it’s human is safe and comfortable on its back before taking flight, though not before accidentally undoing the work sometimes so it’s human has to spend more time on him. Hunting? This dragon is so incapable of hunting! His claws are too blunt, his teeth too baby, his muscles too small to successfully kill anything it catches! (All a lie to anyone with eyes.) If only it’s strong and capable human would kill the deer he felled and… maybe prepare it for him? Perhaps give it to this unworthy dragon as a gift to prove how strong and powerful it is? Oh! Such a strong and powerful human! Yes it is!

And then, on the other side of things there is Mobei Jun, a massive and terrifying ice dragon that, for reasons no one can properly understand, has picked the weakest and most pathetic rider of the batch, and seems to enjoy pinning him under his claw like a cat toying with a mouse while the poor rider (does he even count as a rider when the dragon prefers to drag him around by the claw like a prized possession instead of allow him on his back most days?)begs for mercy. Nobody intervenes mostly out of fear of what happened to the last person who tried to rescue the poor rider from the bullying. And if he tries to hide, the dragon has been known to sniff him out and peal open the roof of the house he is trying to recover in just to drag him off and bat him around as punishment for his defiance.

Monsters (Divine beauties) of the passage SQH & SY:

So both SQH and SY die and transmigrate at the same time, but WAY before the original plot begins! Maybe even before the Qing generation are disciples!

They get reborn as twin kid brothers who were abandoned by their demon dragon parents in a migration tunnel that was used as a quick escape for demons to use to easily get from the human realm to the demon realm without having to go through the borderlands due to the passages weird qualities.

They grow up without a system and are relatively very powerful demonic dragons due to their supply of both spiritual and demonic energy coming from both sides of the passage. (They might just focus on using the spiritual qi tho because it feels nicer and is more useful in hiding their demonic heritage)

They have a fully built and protected passage that is whispered about on both sides about it being guarded by 2 deities that speak in a lost language (broken English) and use terms unknown to the living (modern slang).

With all of the rumors going around, people have been going to Cang Qiong to deal with the issue. As a result, disciple SQQ and disciple LQG get sent on a mission together due to LQG having the most fighting skill and SQQ having the most battle IQ and a sly tongue to get them out of any situation.

To their surprise, it seems like the demons everyone is worried about are both…. Kinda cowards??? How have they lasted this long???

So yeah, SY and SQH are kinda surprised when 2 cultivators show up at their little passage claiming that they are here to slay them. Like… no thank you??? Our last experience with death wasn’t fun… and they don’t wanna die!

I can also imagine SY is helping out any lost kids who can’t find their way back to the nearby village, or maybe just going to the library to grab some books so he and SQH can trash on them together. I can also imagine them using the passage as like… a toll booth? So you have to pay to walk through.

Idk if there would be ships in this, but if you want to imagine their being ships, please let me know so I can… maybe…. Start writing this out with a better idea of what would be most liked.

Hi, anon!! Thank you for the prompt, you were the very first one to send one in! 7 was, again, the wildcard, so I randomly generated a different number to land on Yue Qingyuan (from Scum Villain)! I have no choice but to dedicate this to @bytedykes, because I told her about this prompt and she said “yqy pet fish mental health speedrun” and we went, uh, a little insane about it. Enjoy some yuefang, folks!!!!

“Mu-xiong,” Yue Qingyuan says. “I’m sorry to bother you. Are you available?”

“Yue-xiong is never a bother,” Mu Qingfang says warmly. “And I am, actually, yes. Is everything okay, Yue-xiong?”

“I think I need help.” A bit dramatic, perhaps, and Yue Qingyuan hates to trouble Mu Qingfang on a rare day off, but Yue Qingyuan and impulse have never been the best combination, and he would appreciate a second opinion.

Mu Qingfang’s voice turns hard. “Where are you? I'll come right away.”

“What—?” Yue Qingyuan stares at his phone like the blank call screen will tell him why Mu Qingfang suddenly sounds so serious. “I'm at home, but—”

“I'll be right there,” Mu Qingfang says, and hangs up.

Yue Qingyuan stares at his phone for another second, then lifts his gaze to his sparkling new aquarium. His new betta, white and black and resplendent of fin, stares back. Was his crisis of faith about his viability as a fish owner really so deserving of such urgency…?

“So,” Mu Qingfang says. “This was your emergency?” He looks about as unimpressed by the betta as it does by the two of them.

Yue Qingyuan feels obscurely like he’s being scolded. Mu Qingfang is one of the nicest men he knows, but that just means that his censure takes the form of a blunt instrument of mass disappointment.

“In my defense,” he points out meekly, “I didn’t say there was an emergency. Mu-xiong just assumed.”

“That’ll teach me,” Mu Qingfang huffs, but at least he looks amused. “Yue-xiong should get used to asking for help more so this gege doesn’t have to panic every time he does ask.”

Yue Qingyuan’s mouth almost drops open. He can only hope his cheeks aren’t as red as they feel. “Er—well, I asked this time, didn’t I?”

“You did,” Mu Qingfang allows, looking something horribly close to fond. Yue Qingyuan swallows and tries to hurry on.

“So—not an emergency, but I do want your opinion,” he coughs out. “I’m having… doubts. About the fish.” Mu Qingfang’s eyebrows contract. Yue Qingyuan rushes it out. “Do you think I should keep it?”

“Yue-xiong…” Mu Qingfang looks politely incredulous. “Why does my opinion matter? The fish is already yours, isn’t it? If you don’t think maintaining its upkeep will be feasible, that’s one thing, but… Surely Yue-xiong did the research before getting it?”

He doesn’t sound judgemental, but Yue Qingyuan feels his cheeks warm. “I did, but I wasn’t planning on getting a fish; I was only admiring the tanks. There was a salesperson who was… very insistent.”

Mu Qingfang regards him doubtfully, which is fair. Yue Qingyuan towers over most people he meets, and his bulk only further adds to the impression of immovability. It’s only when he opens his mouth that it becomes clear how spineless he actually is.

Yue Qingyuan falters. “I had thought… I thought it might be nice.” The bettas had seemed so majestic in their tanks, iridescent monarchs of false grass and plastic coves, and Yue Qingyuan had thought, wildly, that one might be rewarding to keep, might breathe a touch of life into his immaculately sleek living room. The whole affair hadn’t even been expensive by his shiny new standards, forget difficult to physically arrange. It was only when installation and set-up for his new aquarium had finished and he was left to watch that jewel-bright being swim disaffectedly through its new home that doubt had seized him, all-consuming and black. He had, admittedly, panicked a little after that.

(Yue Qingyuan’s apartment is very large, and very clean, and very empty. It holds the barest amount of decoration and muss to qualify as lived-in rather than a snapshot from a magazine ad. The fish may, in fact, be the only thing in the entire place which really qualifies as his. No wonder Yue Qingyuan wanted to jettison it from his life as soon as he got it.)

Mu Qingfang’s expression hovers between concern and simple confusion. “I’m sure Yue-xiong will be a more than adequate caretaker,” he says, more gently than Yue Qingyuan and all his neuroses probably deserve. “What’s this really about, Yue-xiong?”

Ah. There it is. Being the mildest person of Yue Qingyuan’s admittedly sharp-tongued social circle doesn’t preclude Mu Qingfang’s wit from being as keen as the scalpels he works with.

“I don’t…” Yue Qingyuan falters. How to express to Mu Qingfang how manifestly unfit Yue Qingyuan is to care for any living creature at all? He changes tack. “I think he hates me,” he admits dolefully.

Mu Qingfang stares at him for a long time, long enough to imply that he’s reevaluating certain opinions about Yue Qingyuan’s intelligence. “Yue-xiong, with all due respect to your new pet—it’s a fish.”

“Fish have emotions!” Yue Qingyuan argues. He flushes at the volume at which it comes out, and at the way Mu Qingfang’s eyes go wide-eyed in startlement. But the salesperson had been very insistent about that, as well. “Bettas are intelligent animals. They dislike certain colors, apparently, and they’re very sensitive—ah, to environmental disruptions, that is. And—”

Mu Qingfang’s eyebrows are still high, but his face has relaxed into a smile. “It sounds to me like you like it quite a bit already. Isn’t that reason enough to keep it?” His tone curls with sudden mischief. “Have heart, Yue-xiong—you’ve hardly known each other for a day! Give it time to adjust to you, and I’m sure you’ll win it over as surely as you do everyone else.” And he grins, sure and easy in his trust that Yue Qingyuan won’t fumble and shatter something so small and monumental as a life that he could cup in his palms.

While Yue Qingyuan is still dazed by that, Mu Qingfang’s eyes alight with interest. “Ah, Yue-xiong—what have you named it?”

“...”

Mu Qingfang’s face falls as devastatingly as it had lit up. “Yue-xiong…”

“Mu-xiong is aware that I was unsure of whether or not I’d keep him!” Yue Qingyuan is terribly aware that his ears are now heating up to match his cheeks. Mu Qingfang’s ensuing laughter does not help with that matter.

Yue Qingyuan is not very good at holding onto things. More often than not, he makes a mess of whatever he’s set his clumsy hands to, lets it fall right through his scarred fingers. But Mu Qingfang’s words ring through his head: Isn’t that reason enough to keep it? And, well, isn’t it? Surely Yue Qingyuan is adult enough to follow through on this. Maybe happiness can be look like his new betta swimming up to the tank to observe the new colorful form moving in front of it, can come as easy as Mu Qingfang quipping that his knowledge about fish is clearly lacking and vowing casually to read up on bettas to be a better fish uncle.

Yue Qingyuan buries a smile and walks over to let Mu Qingfang know that bettas can be trained to follow fingers around. The betta’s clear preference for Mu Qingfang over Yue Qingyuan is as good a marker of intelligence as any fun fact the pet shop worker could have given him. Yes, Yue Qingyuan thinks with a smile—he thinks he’ll be keeping this after all.

Like, SQQ talking to some new students and casually mentions dragons because he's in fantasy land of course there's dragons. But the kiddos giggle and are like "Shizun don't be silly there's no dragons!"

So he goes to talk to SQH and SQH is like, "yeah I made dragons explicitly fictional. They aren't real."

SQQ: Why?

SQH, who was definitely not scared of dragons as a small child, nope not him: They know what they did.

SQQ:???? That makes no sense.

WELL- First off you can always assume that I'm highly recommending any fic I've drawn art for, that's me pointing a neon sign at it and saying GO READ AND LEAVE A NICE COMMENT TO THE WRITER! I'm gonna go dig in my history to get some recs.

- "dumbstruck when you're tender" by pennydaniels This fic is SO good, I wanted to yell about it by making a drawing but I just couldn't decide what to draw. It's a timetravel fix-it fic where Liu Mingyan goes back in time and fixes the plot by joining Qing jing and basically spends the entire story making SQQ go "what the fuck is WRONG with this girl" .

It scratches an itch in my brain. 10/10 go read it.

"We should stick together" by pennydaniels (again <3)

As the author put it, SJ babytraps LQG without the baby. It's honestly so well written, (i want to personally break the face of SJ's Shizun) there's also a sequel fic where sj is de-aged and its so sweetttttt aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

"How To Train Your Empolyee" by ParueCake (MiraEyeteeth)

I think about this fic so much. It's so good. Shen Yuan is a dragon and he needs someone to help him take care of chores around the house, he gets a tiny terrified Binghe to do the job. But honestly, LQG steals the show for me (CALL ME BIASED, HE'S MY FAV) There one scene in particular that just gives me the biggest smile whenever I think about it and it's when SY and LQG are sparring and SY keeps yeeting LQG far away and he keeps coming back like a cat that likes to be thrown around. ALSO LQG TRYING TO APPLY A TALISMAN ON HIMSELF TO GET RID OF MIND CONTROL AND IT'S NOT WORKING BECAUSE IT'S JUST THE WIFE BEAM- IT'S SO FUNNYYYY Mira said something about writing a LQG pov and I'm staring longingly in their general direction.

Honestly, I could recommend all their fics (They are ALL amazing and the ARTTT) but this one scratches that itch in my brain that loves funny misunderstandings like these. This one is just the first chapter but it's so good already!!! Timetravel fix it where we get a front-row seat as YQY absolutely TEARS into the Qiu's, just one chapter and it's already PEAK just for the absolute smack at Qiu Jianluo.

"Celestial Afterglow" by elanor_pam (again <3 )

This one is a weird one, but I had a lot of fun reading it. SQH saves the plot by setting up the weirdest unintentional voyeurism session ever. SQQ turns into a living CLAMP illustration, Xin Mo is defeated by the sluttiest flower in the realm, LQG unlocks the particle effect. Everyone has a great time and the OPM gets destroyed as a little treat <3

Sliding in just under the deadline for the DxD event from @moshangevents with my (still very much WIP) comic of Cosplayer MBJ!

The entire prompt was

"PIDW is a famous RPG/MMO game, MBJ top tier cosplayer, cosplays as Luo Binghe. SQH finds out, creates a character based on him, and hires him to cosplay as the official Ice King cosplayer for "Ice King's expansion'' launch. (Bonus if references towards World of Warcraft, the Lich King/Arthas 🥺)" from @kurojesterhead

And I seriously love the WotLK intro trailer and when I rewatched it for research I was like "omg, this could also be MBJs father with like, the powers of the mobei clan... And then I was drawing and then there was a dragon, and then it was five pages long... Not depicted but happening in the background: SQH has to do research for the new character and absolutely throws even shorter outfit designs at MBJ... Cue slow burn unrequited but requited pining idiotXidiot getting together montage for Moshang.

Uploading now for the points, but I will switch out the non-finished pages with the finished ones in the upcoming weeks and also hopefully do a better scan of everything. Sorry for the bad image quality for now! I hope you like it even so.

So we have DnD MoShang which was inspired by me rewatching the entire first half of Delicious in Dungeon in one night, so kind of the red dragon and I loved the composition😆🫶 Btw way I drew SQH as a HalfFoot and MBJ as a Teethling!

And then we have Sick with Mobei Jun looking after the resting Shang QingHua and a mini animation of Shang Qinghua sniffily snoozing😆🥺

okay this popped into my head and demanded to be heard:

modern magic au moshang. shang qinghua is a witch, and in this au witches generally try to summon a familiar in their 20s. these familiars can be any magical creature, from a normal animal with magic abilities to a phoenix to, yes, a demon, whether that demon is more like an animal or more like a person. familiars, however, can deny the binding, since it’s more like an offer than a demand.

shang qinghua manages to summon mobei jun, somehow. he freaks the fuck out because what!! how did he manage to summon a very infamous demon king??? what????

and even more baffling, mobei jun doesn’t decline the binding!! who knows why?? (possibly reincarnation au? mbj knows who sqh is but not the other way around? idk working it out) and instead he just takes over sqh’s apartment. sqh is stressed ™️, as he often is. he goes onto witch forums for advice and everyone else is also baffled except for shen yuan, whose like “lmao same thing happened to me” and sqh is just ????

they bond over inexplicably having demon lord familiars while sqh tries to figure out what the hell is going on

yes i do plan on writing this. very soon. i may or may not be putting everything to the side (except my dragon!mbj fic) in order to work on this one instead.

au where sj is yqy's favoured vixen (literal fox spirit) who dies due to yqy's court members and yqy wastes all the country's money to build a 1000 buddha temples and turn back time.

( i will put some more of the sv cast in this) (bear with me and you will see my vision)(heavy with references to the general setting)

• They met in the imperial gardens, sj, who needed the energy of men and had been told there wasn't any human who'd have energy stronger the emperor, had snuck in.

he turned from fox to humanoid on encountering and tried to cheat yqy by saying he owed sj in their prev life and sj'd come to collect his debts and yqy should give him everything he asks for.

neither of them actually believed this at the time but yqy is surprised his dragon energy does nothing to sj.

yqy was undergoing # it's lonely at the top and had had to be the perfect eldest son all these years but, due to court drama, was yet to take any wives or dependants. he was feeling a little rebellious, if you will.

he decides to keep the lying vixen (had full faith in his own self control)(but he folded like wet paper in less than one week)

• emperor yqy on the throne with vixen sj curled up on his lap

advisors: YOUR MAJESTY

yqy: yes :)

advisors : THAT MONSTER IS A CURSE UPON THIS COUNTRY, IT WILL DRAIN YOUR VITALITY, YOUR HIGHNESS PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THE DRAGON BODY

• sj, who can sleep through a hurricane by yqy's side, barking when yqy tries to move

and yqy who shrugs off his dragon robe and leaves it behind.

•The emperor's teacher (lqg's adopted father) faints on the spot, and lqg is out for revenge. he uses his ppl in the palace to make sj's life difficult

(lqg's the son of a famous general, expected to grow upto be an equally impressive general) (he's only one left of his family, the rest all died for the country) (important stock)

yqy is having difficulties (sj wants him to kill lqg and be done with it)(lqg walks in on this demand) (and just like that lqg and sj are archenemies)

• sy shows up in part 2 /the time warp, he was a kitten sj kind of raised in this one.

sj doesn't end up abusing the serving eunuch (lbh) (who'd later become governer of east factory in the first life) (and played behind the scenes court games to kill sj) because sy saved his dick and his future.

sj was walking sy, or, following as a humanoid as sy the kitten made his own route (and noticed the smell of blood) sy was distressed enough at the young kids that sj made a fuss until the children yet to be cut was spared the knife, and sent home, no matter their debts.

in this life, lbh grows up and becomes a powerful general

• sj retrieves his memories after the first time they're together. (he hides away for hours and watches yqy's desperate almost irrational scramble to get him back) (then shows up in their bed a month later as if nothing had gone wrong. yqy happily resigns himself to a life like this

Extra 1.qijiu get married and sj is crowned empress. (yqy is impossibly stubborn and firm about this)

Extra 2. lbh convinces sy/sqq to shift to human and marries him home.(his bell always gets dropped near lqg somehow)( lqg's superstitious abt it, always returns it)(lbh thinks he might be trying to make a move) (lqg is appalled)(but does end up friends with sy)

Extra 3.sj insists on coming to court with yqy after yqy shows up to bed with dark circles too many times and sits on his lap as a fox to glare at all the courtiers.

yqy doesnt stop this.

sy hears of it and tags along with lbh to court, but curls up on lbh's feet to sleep.

sj, horrified he'd be this defenseless in front of everyone, hops off, scruffs the cat and takes him to a nest he's made near the head of the dragon bed.

(lbh sees nothing wrong in this)(yqy is charmed sj trusts him enough to bring his family over)

extra 4. personal recorder sqh has been writing Everything down. he plans to bury a hundred copies inscribed in stone so that this history is never lost.

he gets leave and books it to his hometown to get copy number 1 into his family grave

gets waylaid by pirates on the water route.

their leader has blue eyes, is very good at swimming, very handsome, very rugged, targeted sqh because sqh rush made him appear as though he had valuables on him.

mbj is highly disappointed by stones and scrolls. but sqh gets abducted to island anyway. (he knows how to write, and some strategy.) (no.2 scholar, for his sins)(dirt poor tho)

moshang where sqh was abducted to be mountain (island) king's (mermaid's) wife.(they switch)

extra 5. yqy pups sj. the kids are gorgeous. there are 9 of them for each of sj's tails. yqy is very pleased and extremely in love. sj had been told this was a display of power and is thus satisfied.

however usually spirits and immortals cannot have progeny easily, but yqy's dragon sperm locked in and sj is weaker than he thinks.

I’m thinking this happens long before the events of Subnautica, back when the architects still existed and were experimenting on the planet.

Shen Yuan is a biologist and researcher and Shang Qinghua is a journalist and writer documenting the early days of space travel. They accidentally fly too close to 4546B and are shot down by the quarantine system. They’re the only ones that survive their crew’s crash landing

They manage to swim to an island and stumble upon an Architect database where they accidentally integrate into the mechanical hive mind the Architects have. This is where they’re introduced to the ever helpful system

From there, they’re quickly found and interrogated by the Architects, who are the peak lords in this universe. SY and SQH have to frantically explain they were just pressing buttons they didn’t know there were aliens here. They’re promptly taken into custody to be studied by the Architects

Shen Yuan proves to have new ideas in alien biology so they introduce him to their project in trying to cure the Kharaa virus. He’s taken to the primary containment facility where he meets the Sea Emperor (Tianlang-Jun). The massive fish is fascinated by the human and agrees to comply with him, providing him with the formula to hatch his egg.

Said egg is Binghe, who is allowed to grow up in the open ocean as long as Shen Yuan watches over him and continues to collect enzymes to cure the kharaa from him.

I like to think at some point Shen Yuan’s human body grows too old so the peak lords provide him a specially made artificial body similar to the Architect’s. Alien Yaoi ensues

Also I like to think that while all this is going down, Shang Qinghua has taken to investigating the northern regions where Below Zero took place. He keeps somehow being tracked down by shadow leviathan (Mobei jun) who for some reason has made a game out of grabbing him in his pinchers. (Debated making Mobei-Jun the frozen leviathan we see in below zero since it was around during this time. Still considering it since this lets SQH live on land in the arctic)

Actually ykw this idea is growing on me. Shang Qinghua’s investigating the land in the arctic and is spending half his time getting saved from ice worms by this massive land leviathan. He terrified he’s going to be eaten every time the beast gently picks him up and carries him back to a bone filled cave to warm up

- zhuzhi-lang is a sea dragon. Come on, they’re cousins of the sea Emporer

- sha hualing is a reaper leviathan

- I like to think there’s a side romance of Liu Mingyan, one of the architects, working on the vents around the dunes to maintain them and encountering the reaper on multiple occasions. A win for lesbians

- I like to think Liu Qingge is really fascinated by Shen Yuan and wants to protect him because his fleshy body is so delicate compared to the Architects and no he doesn’t want him spending time around a leviathan. Leviathans are dangerous

- this au actually consists of a good ending for the Architects and 4546B since they can save their species and the kharaa never escapes containment

- this good ending could be changed if SY and SQH arrive shortly after the sea dragon attack. Then there’s more of a race against the clock since they’re all going to die if they don’t get a cure

- actually that’s even better. Shen Yuan is one of the first infected. Because. It’s a virus. Without a Cure.

The dragon sniffed, it’s great horns twisting up towards the heavens as it pierced the two mortals below with its gaze.

“Really, Airplane?”

In a shimmer of light, grand scales and talons vanished, leaving behind the flowing robes of Shen Yuan’s humanoid form, the delicate gold chains strung between his branching, antler-like horns chiming softly as he moved.

“It’s a good plan!” The heavenly demon grinned, his huadian glowing red amid the dragon god’s tranquil, green, misty mountain.

The two mortals in question had enough sense to not make a fuss as the god and heavenly demon conversed in English. While both had fine features, Shen Yuan knew they were both fated for much darker paths.

“I suppose that there are benefits,” Shen Yuan eventually conceded after another long stare over what could only be the teenaged Shen Jiu. “If we can shape them up, we can change things for later.”

“Being trained by a god would put all other facets of the scum villans backstory to shame,” the writer nodded. “And if this one has a place to fall back on, the demons will be easier to navigate.”

“Right. So you take the rat, and I’ll take the scum,” Shen Yuan agreed with a nod. “When our protagonist rolls around, we’ll be set!”

“If you’re going to sacrifice us, just do it already!” the tiny scum shouts in his native tongue.

“Ah, little one,” Shen Yuan smiles, light radiant around them. “I think I’d rather like to teach you instead. What do you say?”

The blinking shock that passes over the mortals’ faces leaves him laughing.

“Yes… I think this might work just fine…”
