How do I say "I really want to explore what a close friendship or genuine found family relationship between Sonic and Shadow would be like (ideally trying to stick as close to in character as possible but also understanding there may need to be a little wiggle room provided to make it work.) And I have literally desired this since I was a child and I've never seen anything like it so I'm gonna do it myself." Without sounding like I'm trying to be anti Sonadow or "wHy cAn'T gUYs jUsT bE fRiEndS aNYmORe!?!?!?"

Maybe this is more of just a twitter problem but when I say over on that hellsite that this is a dynamic I wanna explore or to see if anyone else ever has, I always get hit by the sonadow fans for trying to attack their ship or accusations of being homophobic when all I said was I'd love to explore a different potential form of relationship between them. Sonadow isn't my favorite ship but come on. I don't hate it. I'm not interested in this just to spite the shippers. I just genuinely want to explore this route it's interesting to me.

Some of y'all are trying to found-family your blorbos into a nuclear family parent/child dynamic in a way that suggests you have profoundly misunderstood the circumstances under which the one would plausibly call the other "daddy".

I've seen people say the found family trope is queer because it's about "choosing" rather than being "given," and while that's true, I think there's another reason people often gloss over or misunderstand:

found family is queer because the labels don't always fit.

sometimes a character falls somewhere between a brother and a cousin. sometimes they're a big brother, a father figure, and a weird uncle all at once. sometimes they're a sibling when a third character is present, but a parent when they aren't. sometimes any attempt to label them just falls short.

often when a lot of people are fighting over what traditional family role a member of a found family is, I find myself thinking, "maybe you're all right, and all wrong, too. maybe there isn't just one label. maybe it's a found family, so it's queer."

AND WE ALL HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO MOVE WITH IT OR WE WILL BE TRAPPED IN THE DESPERATE BUT FUTILE EFFORTS OF ESCAPISM LIKE MARCY WAS.

I FULLY AGREE THAT IT HURTS TO SEE ANNE, SASHA, AND MARCY LEAVE THEIR FOUND FAMILIES BEHIND AND THAT BACK ON EARTH THINGS CHANGE BETWEEN THEM. BUT THAT'S WHY IT WORKS. BECAUSE REAL LIFE IS LIKE THAT. THING CHANGE. LIFE HURTS. LIFE IS BITTERSWEET. LIFE COMES WITH UPS AND DOWNS AND IT'S HARD TO NAVIGATE IT ALL BUT IT. MOVES. ON. Found family shows what love truly is. That it isn’t a transaction or a complusion of any sorts. It’s a choice. A choice to make a home, a life, with the people you care about most. A choice to stay through it all and to trust others with your heart, and for them to trust you with theirs. 

It shows how love is perfect because it’s chosen, not forced, not required, not limited.
