"A group of 200 UK businesses and charities have signed a pledge that company work weeks will be shortened to 4 days without a loss in pay
Including marketing and advertisement; tech, it, and software; and charity groups as well, the companies employ more than 5,000 people.
Organized by the 4 Day Week Foundation, it follows something less than a trend but more than a fad in which a mixture of employees and executives believe that a happier, more balanced workforce is key to driving productivity.
That balance, they would argue, can be achieved by far more people through the reduction of the 5-day work week to a 4-day one.
“[With] 50% more free time, a four-day week gives people the freedom to live happier, more fulfilling lives,” Joe Royle, the foundation’s campaign director, told the Guardian.
“As hundreds of British companies and one local council have already shown, a four-day week with no loss of pay can be a win-win for both workers and employers.”
This sentiment isn’t shared by all workplaces, but market competition should demonstrate over time whether or not firms that implement unorthodox work hours are in fact as productive or more so than traditional ones.
Economics says that with all else being equal, if enjoying more free time leads to greater employee retention and motivation, then these 4-day work week firms will begin to out-complete the old ones, which in turn will be forced to adapt or risk losing market share.
London firms have been the most enthusiastic, with 59% of the 200 workplaces being located in the capital. With so many firms for talented workers to choose from, it’s no wonder that some are looking to seek advantage in attracting this talent through more desirable working terms.
Last year, GNN reported extensively on a report that was released by a county government in Washington called San Juan, detailing their one-year experiment with a 32-hour, or 4-day work week. In the report, quitting and retiring decreased by 48%, while 55% of employees said their workflow wasn’t interrupted even though they lost an entire working day’s worth of time to complete it.
Even in the famously hard-working nation of Japan, a 4-day workweek seems to strengthen productivity."

[Haaretz is Israeli Private Media]
A review by TheMarker indicates that a string of Israeli startups have shut down or significantly reduced their activity in the past year, with the trend being even more pronounced in recent months. Their common denominator is that their last significant funding round was in 2021 – the height of the high-tech bubble.[...]
Some of these companies folded after the money ran out and they were unable to start a new round. In some cases, entrepreneurs report, the war in Gaza was another key cause of problems.[...]
"It's directly tied to the war," says Kula. "Foreign investors disappeared, and those who wanted to work together said it wasn't the time. Investors in Israel who had expressed interest also decided to pull out. That's the situation in other companies, too. It's very hard to raise money, even small amounts. It's related to the decline in investments worldwide as well as with the economic and political uncertainty in Israel."
An entrepreneur who shut down a company earlier this year agrees. "The valuation estimates declined, the investors stopped investing," he says. "They tell themselves, 'A bomb just went off and now we're taking our time."

so we've all seen how much sahsrau loves the reader however my question is if they ever do make a permanent portal from their universe to ours how would they treat Earth's countries would they start wars would they make peace treaties with our countries.... WAIT what if some countries made fun of or disrespected the reader or their art (like calling it trash or cliche) also how would they (the sahsrau cast) and the world react to star rail a game that's almost if not a complete one to one ratio to their universe man there are so many ways you could take this i'd like to think that the sahsrau cast would bring the reader to any meeting with any country just imagine the chaos like
Reporter a: "mr. General what can you tell us about the relationship of America and the xianzhou?
Jing yuan: as of right now.... I believe the alliance might be open to the possibility of an alliance with the United States
Reporter b: Mr. General what do you have to say about the rumors of a relationship between you and one of our citizens
Jing yuan slightly frowning: that citizen is our grace as for my relationship with them.... I'm one of their many acolytes
(°↓°) hehe chaos gremlins strike again
Oh you just opened the biggest can of cosmic chaos noodles and I am here for it.
If SAHSRAU Makes a Permanent Portal to Earth
First Reaction? Global hysteria. Like, governments are freaking out, trying to figure out if this is a threat or a blessing. But the entire SAHSRAU cast is basically like: “Fear not, mortals! We are here for the Creator.”
Earth: who?
Reader: waving awkwardly in the back
How SAHSRAU Treats Earth’s Countries
1. Diplomacy with conditions – They’re not immediately hostile unless someone messes with the Reader. Peace treaties? Sure. Technology and energy aid? Probably. But only under one condition: Respect the Reader.
2. Each faction handles it differently:
Xianzhou brings their most refined diplomats but also rolls in with sky ships just to be visually intimidating.
Belobog is cautiously curious, with Bronya trying to arrange cultural exchanges.
The IPC shows up ready to buy the planet if necessary.
Stellaron Hunters? They’d just show up uninvited, steal satellite tech, and flirt with the Reader at every press conference.
Astral Express crew is like the friendly UN reps… but with big alien dog energy.
If Someone Insults the Reader or Their Art
God help that country. Seriously.
You think a minor diplomatic incident is bad? Try having the entire Pantheon of Stars glaring at your continent like it personally offended fate.
Jing Yuan’s smile becomes a razor: “I hope that was a poor joke. It would be a shame if the Luofu’s next wargames happened to… pass through your airspace.”
Kafka laughs. You don't want her to laugh.
Yanqing demands an honor duel.
March starts a smear campaign online. #RespectTheReader trends for months.
Dan Heng just vanishes. But a week later, the country’s satellite network mysteriously malfunctions.
Blade doesn’t say anything. He’s just… standing there. Right outside the White House. Holding his sword.
Humanity Reacting to Star Rail the Game Being Real
People would LOSE THEIR MINDS. Like, how did we get a perfect game with accurate lore and personalities?? Was it divine inspiration? Government conspiracy?
SAHSRAU cast’s reaction? Mixed.
March 7th: “Wait, that’s my outfit?! I look amazing! But why do you keep losing battles with me?!”
Welt: “Fascinating. A virtual replica of our lives. So this is what it means to be 'fictional' in your world.”
Himeko: sips coffee “They got my smile right. That’s mildly terrifying.”
Kafka: “They really captured my voice... I wonder if the voice actress dreams of me.”
Blade: “They monetized my suffering.”
And the fans? They're having mental breakdowns. Celebrities thirst-posting about Dan Heng? Chaos. Reddit threads about Jing Yuan’s thighs? Worse. YouTube essays on the lore accuracy? Trending globally.
Bringing Reader to International Meetings
Imagine the UN Summit. Reader walks in, glowing faintly like an Aeon-adjacent celestial being. Some country rep starts grandstanding about protocol, and then Jing Yuan speaks: “Silence. You’re in the presence of divinity.”
ALL EYES ON READER.
Reader: “...Hi. I just want snacks and peace.”
Cue chaos.
Bonus:
The Vatican canonizes the Reader. Twice.
The U.S. tries to “negotiate” for Reader citizenship and ends up blacklisted by IPC.
A TikTok dance trend forms based on the Reader’s aura movement.
Ruan Mei hosts a TED Talk. No one understands a word, but they all clap.
Yanqing becomes a world fencing champion at age 12.
Sampo starts an MLM in three countries before Welt shuts him down.
In conclusion: if SAHSRAU opened a portal to our world? Absolute interdimensional chaos, world diplomacy would be rewritten, the Reader would be the centerpiece of planetary politics, and they’d still just want to sit on a couch and play games without being called a god.

⟶ "i'm so hungry i could eat ___" trend with satoru
⟶ who wants to send me requests ("meeee! ☝️" you all say in unison)
cw:: crack, not proofread, i wrote this in 10 minutes half an hour before my shift, then finished in the 5 minutes before i go to bed, reader wears glasses, gn!reader, astoundingly short seriously its 348 words
Tumblr media
You stretch out, reaching your arms above your head and arching your back slightly. You groan in relief, before settling your head back into Satoru’s lap.
All your students are out on missions, but the intimidating stack of paperwork on almost every surface of your office meant you couldn't take the day off. And although he whined and moaned seeing you get dressed for work, your fiancé still dragged himself to Jujutsu Tech with you. Someday you'll have to address his attachment issues, but not today.
“I’m starving,” you mumble. You'd taken a much-needed break from filing papers and reports to lay in Satoru’s lap, but before long, another need popped up.
“Yeah? What d’you wanna eat, cutie?” Satoru grins, booping your nose, before sliding your glasses slightly further up your nose.
“Mmm… I dunno,” you groan. “I'm so hungry, I could eat Yaga-sensei.”
Satoru pauses, his hand hovering above your face. “Huh?”
You're fighting back a grin at the confusion on his pretty features. “I said, 'I'm so hungry, I could eat Yaga-sensei.’”
“Ugh,” Satoru groans. “What does that mean?”
You feign confusion at the way he grimaces, blinking up at him. “What? It's like… a thing people say.”
“Do you wanna have sex with Yaga?”
That got you. You burst out laughing, slapping his side as you cackle. “What the hell?”
He blinks at you, before a splitting grin breaks out on his face, and he playfully shoves your shoulder. “Oh my god, what's wrong with you? 'I could eat Yaga-sensei’? Seriously?”
“Haven't you seen the trend?” You're pulling out your phone, struggling to type on Tiktok, your giggling causing your thumbs to shake. But you manage, and you're shoving the first video you see in his face.
He blinks owlishly at the video, before giggling along with you. “That's so stupid.”
“It's funny!” you argue. “But I am actually hungry.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He's gathering you into his arms, standing up with you in a bridal carry. (“I'm practicing,” is what he'd say if you asked.) “Let's get you some real food. Before you fuck our boss.”

slightly different from the book rec asks but you mentioned Jamie loftus so… any non-fiction podcast recs?
wow the great news is that I am pretty much constantly listening to a nonfiction podcast of one kind or another so this is huge for me. here are some of my faves!
Betwixt the Sheets: The History of Sex, Scandal, and Society - joined by a rotating cast of guest experts, sex historian Kate Lister goes on a romp through history to learn all about the sexual norms and revolutions of yesteryear.
Black People Love Paramore - in episodes that follow the formate of "Black People Love X," host Sequoia Holmes interviews her guests about their passions for pop cultural niches where Black people are often underrepresented, overlooked, or excluded altogether. heavy focus on music, as the title suggests, but topics also include Tony Hawk, pet ownership, and a memorable episode about being a slut featuring Ify Nwadiwe.
Maintenance Phase - truly like the #1 pod I get hype for when new episodes go up. hosted by fat activist Aubrey Gordon and methodology queen Michael Hobbes, focused on investigating and debunking various health and wellness fads as well as fatphobic misconceptions.
Oh No, Ross and Carrie - ONRAC just ended after thirteen and a half years of investigating all kinds of claims about wellness, spirituality, and the paranormal, ranging from self-proclaimed faith healers to exorcists to alien sightings to pet psychics to the creationist Ark-themed theme park in Kentucky. they have a HUGE backlog, great for browsing.
The Sporkful - a short and sweet podcast hosted by pasta enthusiast Dan Pashman, with each episode focusing on a different question, trend, or event from the world of food. despite being a pretty lighthearted show Pashman is admirably unafraid to tackle the less savory side of food culture; I first became aware of the podcast when he scored a searing interview with Sohla El-Wahlly after the revelation of massive workplace discrimination at YouTube's former darling, BA Test Kitchen.
The Stacks - the only book podcast I can currently tolerate. host Traci Thomas chats with authors about their new fiction and nonfiction releases and hosts a monthly book club. very chill listening, but dangerous for your to-read list.
There Are No Girls on the Internet - host Bridget Todd dives deep into tech trends, online outrages, and misinformation moments across the web. for my money, TANGOTI's coverage of the fatalities at Travis Scott's 2021 Astroworld event and the ensuing satanic panic conspiracy theories were some of the absolute best reporting around the event. currently on hiatus, so you have plenty of time to raid the archives!
Vibe Check - poet Saeed Jones and journalists Zach Stafford and Sam Sanders discuss pop culture and politics, answer listener requests for advice, and generally queen out together. you want nuance? the girlies have Nuance. genuinely one of the warmest and kindest podcasts in my rotation.

I'm writing a sci-fi story about a space freight hauler with a heavy focus on the economy. Any tips for writing a complex fictional economy and all of it's intricacies and inner-workings?
Constructing a Fictional Economy
The economy is all about: How is the limited financial/natural/human resources distributed between various parties?
So, the most important question you should be able to answer are:
Who are the "have"s and "have-not"s?
What's "expensive" and what's "commonplace"?
What are the rules(laws, taxes, trade) of this game?
Building Blocks of the Economic System
Type of economic system. Even if your fictional economy is made up, it will need to be based on the existing systems: capitalism, socialism, mixed economies, feudalism, barter, etc.
Currency and monetary systems: the currency can be in various forms like gols, silver, digital, fiat, other commodity, etc. Estalish a central bank (or equivalent) responsible for monetary policy
Exchange rates
Inflation
Domestic and International trade: Trade policies and treaties. Transportation, communication infrastructure
Labour and employment: labor force trends, employment opportunities, workers rights. Consider the role of education, training and skill development in the labour market
The government's role: Fiscal policy(tax rate?), market regulation, social welfare, pension plans, etc.
Impact of Technology: Examine the role of tech in productivity, automation and job displacement. How does the digital economy and e-commerce shape the world?
Economic history: what are some historical events (like The Great Depresion and the 2008 Housing Crisis) that left lasting impacts on the psychologial workings of your economy?
For a comprehensive economic system, you'll need to consider ideally all of the above. However, depending on the characteristics of your country, you will need to concentrate on some more than others. i.e. a country heavily dependent on exports will care a lot more about the exchange rate and how to keep it stable.
For Fantasy Economies:
Social status: The haves and have-nots in fantasy world will be much more clear-cut, often with little room for movement up and down the socioeconoic ladder.
Scaricity. What is a resource that is hard to come by?
Geographical Characteristics: The setting will play a huge role in deciding what your country has and doesn't. Mountains and seas will determine time and cost of trade. Climatic conditions will determine shelf life of food items.
Impact of Magic: Magic can determine the cost of obtaining certain commodities. How does teleportation magic impact trade?
For Sci-Fi Economies Related to Space Exploration
Thankfully, space exploitation is slowly becoming a reality, we can now identify the factors we'll need to consider:
Economics of space waste: How large is the space waste problem? Is it recycled or resold? Any regulations about disposing of space wste?
New Energy: Is there any new clean energy? Is energy scarce?
Investors: Who/which country are the giants of space travel?
Ownership: Who "owns" space? How do you draw the borders between territories in space?
New class of workers: How are people working in space treated? Skilled or unskilled?
Relationship between space and Earth: Are resources mined in space and brought back to Earth, or is there a plan to live in space permanently?
What are some new professional niches?
What's the military implication of space exploitation? What new weapons, networks and spying techniques?
Also, consider:
Impact of space travel on food security, gender equality, racial equality
Impact of space travel on education.
Impact of space travel on the entertainment industry. Perhaps shooting monters in space isn't just a virtual thing anymore?
What are some indsutries that decline due to space travel?
I suggest reading up the Economic Impact Report from NASA, and futuristic reports from business consultants like McKinsey.
If space exploitation is a relatiely new technology that not everyone has access to, the workings of the economy will be skewed to benefit large investors and tech giants. As more regulations appear and prices go down, it will be further be integrated into the various industries, eventually becoming a new style of living.

Keys guide to general scams
(Keys guide to general scams)
Hey everyone! This post is intended as a simple compilation of common scams without going into too much detail and also explains how to check for scams in general. If you want to check out info in detail, check out my tag “how to spot a scam blog”!
So here’s a quick rundown of some simple scams:
Donation scam - These scams range from medical aid to pet care and sometimes a little in between. The most common variant of these is someone needing insulin and their asking for “nt much” or claiming their “nose freezes” due to asthma. The other common kind is for a pet of theirs, usually one needing some kind of surgery or having some kind of medical condition. Another version of this scam may be themed around world events, a seasonal holiday, or a special week depending on when the account was made.
Art scam - These scams range from commission scams to commissioner scams. The common kind of scam you’ll get is someone asking you if you do commissions then request you draw their pet for around $100-$300. This price is usually more than your actual commission prices but don’t be fooled the person doesn’t want your art and often wants to only pay you by an email address which then gives you a fake payment sent email. Commissioner scams are less common but work in a similar fashion where someone will ask you if you want to commission them but their art is stolen from someone else. Another version of this scam is the mural scam where they offer to use your art in a mural but want to pay you with a check via mobile deposit but it’s a fake check and you’ll lose money.
Mutual aid support scam - This kind of scam is when you’ll get a comment on your fundraiser of someone saying you don’t seem to be getting much attention and offer to boost your post. They will then DM you and offer their services usually requiring a payment to do so. Additionally, some may contact you offering to help you but won’t use any method of support you already have. Instead they will offer to link your bank to theirs or offer a digital check. Don’t give them any information or pay anyone to get more views on your fundraiser.
Tech support scam - A very common scam where someone on Discord claims to have reported you and you need to pay support to get the report cleared up. Often seen on hacked accounts, the ‘support’ is fake and often someone wanting your account data. Additionally, this scam may also be someone sending you an ask claiming you need to go to a suspicious link to ‘verify’ your account or someone sending you a DM claiming to be support and asking for your personal information to ‘verify’ your account. Keep in mind this is just a phishing scam and your account isn’t in danger as long as you haven’t given anything.
Misc scams - Outside of the above scams, you’ll also find scams based around lottery winners, gift card giveaways, or offering you monthly allowances to be in a romantic relationship. There’s also drop shipping scams where someone’s advertising a product but doesn’t mention it’s an ad and the product is just a cheap version of an already easily affordable item and often doesn’t get shipped leaving you out of money.
Always check how many posts an account has with timestamps enabled to see how much time passed between each post. Usually scam accounts only have one original post with a few reblogs from a trending tag or is just random reblogs to make their account look active with no original content. You can also try searching the username to see if anyone’s posted a warning or reverse image search there pictures to see if there’s any potential the images they used are from another site without credit.
Not everyone is a native English speaker, meaning poor English in a post isn’t a sign someone’s scamming you. Additionally, not every fundraiser is a scam by default just because you was sent an ask or a DM. Those are things you can turn off if necessary or limit if you don’t want them. It’s a relatively simple process and doesn’t take more than a few seconds of your time to do.
If you found this guide useful, feel free to share it around to your friends or users who are new to this website.
