talk about books that changed my brain chemistry and boosted my writing, especially the fifth season, which pulls a narrative trick with its 3 main character perspectives that still has me reeling and makes me resent the fact that not every protagonist is an exhausted middle aged mother who's haunted by choices and horrors of her own making!!

The Devourers by Indra Das

a take on werewolves that's at times genuinely sickening to read, esp for my body-horror-scawy ass. lot of upsetting themes fyi, like. all the themes. are upsetting. but i was left feeling like I'd just gotten the world's most dire hug. also trans allegory out the wazoo.

I've never felt smart enough for this book but i think about it constantly, not just because the contents are so traumatic but the way it's written..... even now i feel like such a dunce trying to say anything about it but it's like. it broke rules in my brain about how books are supposed to be structured and understood. there's a chapter that ends in a stream of thought that's borderline incomprehensible and it's in my head forever.

ok little different now and largely positive mushy gushy mom stuff, but a lot of Brandi Carlile's songs, especially The Mother:

and her whole In These Silent Days album. particularly it's celebrating lesbian motherhood. Mama Werewolf is awesome and introduces that complication that makes me ravenous, but my favorite is her love song to her wife, You And Me On The Rock

there's a song exploder podcast episode about it. she talks about how it's an homage to her good friend Joni Mitchell, how it's about this very feminine love she shares with her wife and daughter (and now also her son) and how she spent some of her youth grappling with that femininity.

Laura Marling and her partner don't have children. this song is a hypothetical about the trauma of being a girl and having your boundaries crossed when you're young. but what absolutely destroys me is that there's a string section, which was written by a violinist to whom she gave creative liberty, and in his strings he says, "i wrote this to be the character of The Daughter, so she's here in the song soaring over everything" and it just. hearing the context and then listening to the song........i show this episode to anyone who's stuck in a car with me 25 minutes.

the way her death is the inciting incident for everything that happens after, and how she's a ghost that haunts the rest of the story, at times a protective spirit and at other times a traumatic poltergeist, is like. i thought i was a 13yo reading a magical high school romance what's happening to me.

then of course the current rec, Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood

Lockwood is a poet and this is her memoir about growing up with a Catholic priest for a dad, something that in itself seems contradictory. it's phenomenal. i can't believe someone exists who's this good at writing. her relationship with her mother is hilariously, tenderly depicted and it's questioning and resentful and loving and there's a chapter about them called the cum queens of the hyatt palace and it's the funniest thing I've ever read

because absolutely NOBODY asked, here’s a list of my top ten favourite warriors characters (SO FAR)

a lot of you are gonna hate me for not including/including certain characters tbh but this is just my opinion

Disclaimer: I’m on Book 1 of Power of Three currently, so these characters are mostly comprised of those from TBP and TNP. i’ll probably make an updated list at some point in the future, but for now this is how it stands:

#10–Longtail. He’s just a good guy tbh. From being a meanie at the start, to choosing not to leave Thunderclan with Dark and Tiger, to being forced into early retirement but taking it like a champ, this guy has just come to be one of my favourite cattos in the series.

#9–Mousefur. The icon, the legend. She’s literally unfiltered and completely rude to everyone without even giving a shit. She’s shown to be very opinionated and headstrong, but also displays a caring side when it comes to Longtail’s blindness. 10/10 character for me.

#8—Ravenpaw. Is there anyone out there who actually dislikes this guy? I genuinely think he is the most chill cinnamon roll ever. He just wants to vibe with his husband in a barn and maybe warn firestar about important stuff sometimes. Even tho he’s a loner, he respects the warrior code and understands the clan ways. He’s just so awesome and i love him.

#7—Stonefur. Yeah yeah i know we only really knew him for a few books, but I just really liked his character. He was really brave and noble, loyal to his clan, generally a good guy. His death was so sad and honestly just the fact that he went down fighting made me respect him even more.

#6—Sorreltail. Omg idk why i like her so much. Just when she was a new warrior and was best buddies with Leafpool made me so happy, and then for her to become mates with Brackenfur (more on him later—) was just a very good ship for me. I just think Sorreltail is cool and generally a nice cat.

#5—Dustpelt. The biggest G in the entire clan. Honestly Dustyboi is so awesome and i love him so much. Like at first i really didn’t like him, what with the way he was rude to Fire and generally an unpleasant guy, but he got so much better and now i stan him.

#4—Tallstar. OK ALRIGHT SETTLE DOWN, hear me out. Reason number one why i love him is that he’s gay and cute with Jake and we love that for him. Reason number two is that he’s actually a decent guy and isn’t passive aggressive and weird like the other leaders are, he just wants to vibe on with his clan and be chill with everyone. Idk i grew very attached to Tallstar throughout the first two series.

#3—Brackenfur. AHHHH where to start with Brackenfur. He’s just an amazing guy honestly. Like he’s chill, gets along with everyone, but also very brave and noble in the sense that he would literally die for his clan. I usually get very attached to the vanilla side characters who have no real plotlines so this is very expected of me, i just really love brackenfur and his character.

#2—Cinderpelt. Not a DAY GOES BY where i don’t cry over her tragic death and the mountains of wasted potential. Fricking Starclan really had to reincarnate her? What was the point of killing her? Ik it probably had something to do with Leafpool being ✨ special ✨ and the only medicine cat, but come on man. Just look at cinder. Look at how cool and awesome she is.

AAAAND COMING IN AT NUMBER ONE ISSSSS *drumroll intensifies*

#1—The most amazing cat ever to be seen, my guy WHITESTORM!!! Honestly come at me for not putting greystripe or squilf in here, idc. Whitestorm for me is an example of what a warrior cat SHOULD be. He was smart, brave, loyal, trustworthy, chill…he literally had no flaws. Like what did man ever do that was controversial? I cant think of anything, i mean correct me if i’m wrong. I just stan Whitestorm and wish he’d been leader istg.

Dillagi (1999) - Starring my beloved Deols and loveliest Urmila. This film has it all - action, romance, drama, angst - with a sweet family in the middle of it. Zohra Sehgal's character was the cutest.

Yes Boss (1997) - My childhood favorite film starring my absolute favorites (and parents). I've watched this so many times I've lost count. Seema & Rahul were flawed yet good people stuck in bad situations whom you rooted for. SRK & Juhi had flawless chemistry as always. The soundtrack is forever iconic.

Jab We Met (2007) - In my opinion, as close to perfect as a film can get. Still feels fresh after all these years and I can never get tired of watching it.

Just Married (2007) - If this film only has one fan, it's me. I think it's a realistic portrayal of a couple who had an arranged marriage and how they get used to each other. Fardeen & Esha were really sweet and loveable. I also liked the other couples and how all the characters interacted with each other. If I skim this film, I end up watching the whole thing lol.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) - One of my absolute favorites. I can never get tired of it. Iconic. Legendary. I always notice something new with every rewatch. Amarendra & Devasena are the pinnacle of romance, period.

Duplicate (1998) - Another all time family favorite. This film gave us himbo AND fuckboy SRK, it needs to be appreciated more. Also the most gorgeous ladies, Juhi & Sonali along with the loveable Farida Jalal. Awesome soundtrack and great chemistry between my parents. My sister & I can quote this film by heart and Juhi's comedic scenes are iconic.

Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) - I've watched this film so many times in my childhood. I loved Madhuri & Salman's cute, playful chemistry. Renuka Shahane was adorable and it's always nice seeing Mohnish Bahl not playing a villain for once. I'm a sucker for sappy family centric dramas.

Seventeen Again (2000) - I've been a huge fan of the Mowrys since childhood and this film is super fun with a great (sadly unreleased) soundtrack.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003) - This film is so iconic and I can never get tired of it. It brings me back to my middle school days. I definitely prefer it over the show, tbh. Paolo was cute, idc what anyone says!

Dosti: Friends Forever (2005) - THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. I just want to give a shoutout to Bobby’s stylist because I was living for his colorful, tacky shirts. Him & Akshay had great chemistry and you can truly see how much they loved each other and how strong their bond was. My favorites Kareena & Juhi are in this as well and the soundtrack is super nostalgic for me.

as sunny from omori, i remember kel falling off the swings at the playground when we were children. we liked to do these little contests to see who could swing the highest. kel always won, but its fine because i simply enjoyed swinging (the wind, watching the sky 'move' above me, feeling like I'm flying) and being with him (hearing his laughter, his loud brash voice, and just being around his infectiously good mood). once he got into a lil accident when he was trying to get off his swing and ended up launching himself across the playground sand. he was fine. we made sure he was more careful when he played on the swings again

one thing i love about this game is the community aspect makes certain things much easier

like fur example. each player has a plant in their house. there's lotz of diff plants in the game && all the plants bear diff fruit obviously. watering uur own plant && others' plants gives uu exp && coins (quite a meager amount tho) and it's part of quests sometimes

&& when the plants bear fruit, other players can pick uur fruit and get normal fruit! 6 normal fruit is required to attend a party! (bc uu have to contribute treats oooobviously)

when enough people have taken fruit from uur own plant, then uur own normal fruit turns into rare fruit! && when uu have 3 of the same rare fruit uu can be the one who throws parties!

does that sound convoluted. idc it makes perfect sense to me in the game (⁠ʘ⁠ᴗ⁠ʘ⁠✿⁠)

so here's where the community part comes in. there's different forums uu can post to, but the most important forums (to me) are the water, fruit, && party forums. when someone wants ppl to water their plant, they post in the water forum and include what town they live ingame. when someone wants ppl to take fruit, they post in the fruit forum. && when someone holds a party, they post in the party forum

see this makes thingz SO much easier.

there's a quest where uu need to water 8 plants from a specific town (my melody park, hello kitty avenue, etc. bc remember this is Sanrio). now uu could spam the "walk" button && go to random houses and pray uu find someone who lives in the town that uu need.

but it's faster w the forum! bc uu just open the water forum and since everyone states which town they live in, it's easy to find ppl who live in the town uu need fur the quest!

and if uu wanna attend a party but uur low on normal fruit, just open the fruit forum! easy as that!

&& when uu get enough normal fruit from picking other ppls fruits, then uu can find a party to attend in the party forum!! i luv checking out posts in the party forum and see which party to attend based on the plushes i can get if i attend :3 (bc diff rare fruits used to start a party = diff plushes that the host and attendants can receive)

so yeah that's the main thing i wanna infodump about. i think the gacha could still be a bit better but if uu just keep logging in every day, even just to do basic quests, it still helps ^_^

I'm aiming to get 2k coins so i can pull 7x on the aurora aquarium banner and 7x on the moon horoscope banner bc i like the aesthetics :3 i might pull on the brown leopard banner too but it's not my top priority rn. I'm a gambling addict tho so sometimes i do 2-4 pulls on other banners just to take the edge off LMAOAOOA (when uu pull for the first time on a banner the price is cheaper! then it goes up on the 2nd time, up again on the 3rd time, until it goes up and stops at the 4th time i think)

I'm hoping to pull on banners w darker colors though. i don't fancy the light cutesy colors very much

thoughts under the cut cuz this post got long ehe. thank you for the opportunity my brain was going to explode <3

ok hop is DEFINITELY one of my favorite rivals in the franchise (at least out of what ive played aha) and has some of the best character development to me. i know sometimes the writing in swsh is a bit clunky but idc, the context is more than strong enough ok. heads up some of my own hcs might creep in here but i can't help it i have so many thoughts abt him all day

FIRST OF ALL the idea of our rival being the champion's younger brother is really great. i love love love it. hop starts off as borderline worshipping leon and fully believing himself to be destined to follow in his footsteps as champion. and why wouldn't he!! he grew up watching his awesome big brother on the tv, seeing how powerful and happy he looks, and his mom probably echoed a lot of those praises back at him as he grew up. lots of "oh, you're going to be just like your brother when you're older, aren't you?" especially when he's had his own first pokemon (wooloo<3) for a while by the game's start!!! like dude!!! this guy has big dreams and he's probably never had anyone tell him otherwise, he's barely had any exposure to anything else, of /course/ he's gonna think he's meant for this!

and we know from some of sonia's dialogue in the games that leon "practically raised" hop, and there's really no other father figure to be seen, so. just saying his only real guy role model is his bro like. of course he's gonna idolize the hell out of him

and i think that starting him off as this cocky and honestly kind of full-of-himself personality while still being a good kid at heart is a really cool thing, /especially/ when we get to see how his character develops through the story!!!!! his loss to bede paired with his repeated losses to the player /and/ his first gym loss at circhester is such a major hit to him, and we /see/ that!

seeing take wooloo off of his team is SO IMPACTFUL because it's shows how desperate and conflicted he feels! we see the cracks in his confidence forming and it culminated in this harsh move of removing his #1 pokemon, the one he's had since childhood, just to try and he stronger! he's grappling with having the idea of this dream he's been wanting his entire life shaken /and/ repeated losses /and/ the stress of trying to follow in his brother's footsteps?? the feeling that he's letting leon down, that he's not good enough?? that he's somehow a stain on leon's reputation just by being himself??

BRO!!!!!!! break my heart in half why don't you!!!

that moment honestly cemented him as one of my favs. just seeing him that desperate to win </3 and then the satisfaction of seeing dubwool leading his team afterwards, when he's realized that even if he does want to win, it won't matter if he's not doing it his own way. seeing dubwool again was like getting to see his arc starting to come full circle, not nearly as unshakably confident as before, but /genuine/ for probably one of the first parts of his story!

facing him in your battle is so great </3 seeing him emulate leon's movements like the little cheek slaps and when in the way he's animated directing his pokemon is so sweet. you really see that all he wants is to live up to this unreachable shadow he's lived under his whole life, and it's so heartbreaking to beat him!! seeing him get frustrated and pull himself together!! knowing that he still cheered you on in the champion battle, knowing you took that dream from him, because really, it's not even what he wanted. we see that at the end of the game when he takes on the research position under sonia, when he's finally able to act genuinely and start exploring interests that are his own rather than those he's grown up idolizing.

who knows if being a professor is really his passion?? who knows if he won't switch career tracks 4 more times in his life?? that's the power of it!! he had nothing else to look up to his whole childhood, so he never really let himself think about those things. at the end of the game he's finally doing it just for himself, to explore himself as a person, not just as a carbon copy of his brother! he gets to tell his own story instead of following the path of leon's and it's so good!!! thinking abt how he can flourish as a person, how scary it might be to finally be without a set path in front of him but simultaneously how freeing it might feel!!

i could talk abt him for DAYS

AUGH. he is so underrated </3 i hate how much hate he gets, it's unwarranted. yes some of the writing is weird yes some dialogue could be better written, but hop's character is just so interesting!!

I’ve been thinking a lot about how Killua would be like in a school environment and especially how he’d react if he knew a special cutie was in the same year as him but sitting in the far corner back of the class. *sigh* the high school drama would send me 😩😩

I picture Goldie as the shy girl who can’t properly formulate phrases to the point where her classmates (and teacher) would think she’s actually mute. But once she and Killua get paired up for a school project, he’ll slowly but surely get to know her more without needing to force words out of her mouth. Even when the project would end and they won’t have to be together anymore, Killua would want to hang out with her privately from now on cuz he’s having those weird butterfly feelings around her and doesn’t know how to properly take care of them so he thinks she might be able to help cuz she’s “apparently” (in his words not mine) the cause of it 😭💕

Slow and steady steps towards an adorable romance between the two would be much appreciated for Goldie (but ESPECIALLY Killua) since they are not the type to be very public about their emotions.

I just see them hanging out together when no one’s looking like when he’ll bring her outside to the rooftop and eat lunch, or when they’d be sweeping the classes at the end of the day together, or when Killua would simply show off his awesome skills at sports secretly hoping that she saw him winning a point for the team.

And NO ONE in the class would be able to figure out that these two were actually dating since Killua is so good at not giving him and his cutie any unnecessary attention.

These two would be so pure and sweet together omg my heart literally can’t take this- 😭😭❤️❤️❤️

Ok ok ok I need to write this somewhere so now is a good time as ever: I am so MAD at myself for not putting my silly little tags in my latest ao3 fic >:( idc if it was improper or whatever the hell I should’ve been able to put #successfully-injected-20-ounces-of-silliness-into-Kris WITHOUT FEELING BAD!! I even decided NOT to mention how I think Kris (and all non-binary people for that matter) should totally one-bajillion-percent be allowed to have boobs without being ridiculed for it. The many shapes of our little flesh vessels are obviously not inherently indicative of our gender identity at all and I had the perfect opportunity to state that fact in the notes section but I DIDNT because Kris wearing a binder is part of their character and story that I’ve crafted for them and I wanted to address it properly in another future fic but it’s such a MINOR THING and won’t be this super dramatic factor that’s the center point of an entire fic like I made it out to be like WHY was I so lame and didn’t take a stance on that when I had the chanceee?? UGH!!!

Speaking of fics!! So far I’ve posted one for Christmas and Valentines, right? Well besides my draft for New Years it recently dawned on me that I still need to make one for Halloween and I’ve never written horror before (besides some stupid spontaneous one-off paragraph comment for a yaoi on wattpad IDK what 12 year old me was thinking) so YEAH idk I guess I’ll try my best, I have a couple good ideas?? If push comes to shove I can always revert to “ice cream cake full of fluff with an acidic slice of plot on the cutting knife” or some bullcrap.

THIS bullet point is is dumb but… does anyone play Roblox? Yes? Ok, follow-up question: do you know what Doodle World is? It’s like the bestest pocket monster game on the site. Basically I’m forming a Deltarune theme team consisting of Kris Berdly Susie Noelle Catti and Jockington and if I record some good battles with my trashy theme team I might post them somewhere somehow idk lol but it’d be funny. I cannot WAIT for nothing to come of this.

I saw someone say they HATE Kriselle (on pintrest of all places) and since I’m a multi-shipper AND a certified hater I’m dedicating this paragraph to be a meanie to that person specifically. They are THE childhood friends to lovers!! Noelle watches in abject horror as Kris puts every shape in the square hole. Kris shows off their blades and Noelle tells them blades are for skatin’ and calls them a dingus. Noelle chases after the knight and Kris screams “GIRLFRIEND, STOP, GET BACK IN THE CARRGRHG” while she goes “youuuu come back here” and tackles the knight to the ground, knocking the helmet off and revealing Berdly underneath. Just thought I’d let you all know!!

Ok but honestly I’ve been sooo obsessed with Catti and Ralsei interactions. I have a vivid image in my head of Kris setting ghoul up on a date with an alleged “Prince of the Dark” and then Catti sees this sweet fidgety guy in bright colors and flowy clothing and ghoul’s like “figures” and it PROBABLY doesn’t work out if we’re being realistic but I’m holding out hope!! Rise up, Catsei (Ralti?) shippers!!

i DO with we got to see that version because it would mean more lawrence screentime and i genuinely do not dislike any saw content. idc how shitty saw x is, it could undo everything and shit all over it but i would NOT care. any content means an avenue to explore saw further

thats one of the main reasons the apprentice reveal was so good, in my opinion. before i get to why its great for lawrence, i want to point out why it works SO well for the other aspects. amanda is johns pseudo-daughter, he LOVED her like a father. we see it at the end of saw iii. no matter what he says, john does not forgive people. he punishes jill for losing their child but at the end of iii, we see him genuinely look at amanda with love and forgiveness. and yet? he never trusted her enough to tell her about lawrence. this random fucking guy who didnt even WIN, is the golden child. trusted with his wife!

as for mark, he is the definition of jigsaws philosophy. he may have jostled his victims around but he had the strongest will to live out of anyone and never relished in hurting them (crying after kidnapping paul + killing seth). another reason i like 3D is that he cant even look at jills corpse. his "game over" wasnt victorious. not like johns always is. YET he is not trusted. hes been there since before amanda, followed his rules, lived his philosophy and he was shafted again. i think the reveal does a lot of good for the apprentice-john dynamic for everyone involved.

secondly, JOHNS TESTS DONT WORK. CANONICALLY. they do not!! amanda says it herself. jigsaw traps make people worse, and not just bc thats a logical response to trauma. working for john amplifies everyones worst traits. amanda became a killer, mark grew to find some sort of enjoyment in killing (at the very least, it made him dependent on it for power and a sense of identity after the loss of his sister)

lawrences test was designed to show him what john said he was missing: empathy. he has none! he lies and doesnt care, he cant understand other peoples points of view, and he prioritizes his own whims and wants over everyone. CONSISTENTLY. so what happens when his tests presents him with the very definition of his heart and moral core, then asks him to kill him? he gets fucking worse!

lawrence is a narcissist. as in the personality disorder. he has low empathy (this is canonically the reason for his test!! not just "he cheated" or "he ignored john", he does these things for that reason) and god. just look at the symptoms, its like they made every scene an example of them on purpose. the idea that his game would be a wake up call and cause him to reflect and adjust his behaviors is just insane to me! within the canon logic of the story, and when taking into account his clear personality disorder... its the most logical choice (source: i have it and also i have eyes. SIDE SIDE note, my real source is that hes a clear parallel to john and john was evaluated for NPD in his psychiatric files in the saw game. so theres that) i think this has a lot to do with people not understanding low empathy. they cant understand why he would betray adam and join jigsaw

trauma wont change that overnight. getting fixed by john for 2 years without seeing the sun certainly wont help either

lawrence as an apprentice is the most logical progression of his character. he does what he wants and what he has to, at the expense of others. hes isolated from his wife and child. he cant understand other peoples prespective. he has an issue with guilt or feeling empathy for people, including those suffering like john. this wont change bc he experienced his first shred of empathy after MURDERING someone he got to know for 6 hours. low empathy =/= no empathy. thats like saying dude bros who do shrooms and experience empathy for the first time in their life are changed people. they arent lol

also the contrast between his game over vs marks 5 minutes earlier is SO important for their characters. theres so much good shit in that movie. take out the corny lines and jill mistreatment, and u have a lot to work with! so yes i do think that itd be more awesome. i love saw 3D and what it did for his character. im not sure how saw iii hostage lawrence wouldve expanded on his character, but id rather go with saw 3D bc im confident they didnt butcher his character. im glad that a beloved protagonist is a complete narc, and hes still beloved! im never giving that up

All-Star Superman - Morrison/Quitely (I really like this a lot, but I do feel it kinda is off base with what's appealing about Superman to me. it takes Superman and really spins him as a mythical god level figure, to the point where Lois refuses to believe he's Clark and... what the story is is very good. but Superman being regular ol' Clark at the end of the day is what makes him so wonderful to me. This is absolutely a Superman that pretends to be Clark Kent. feel like that's a big distinction. lex's characterization is PHENOMENAL though, SO good.)

My Adventures with Superman Season 1 (it's phenomenal. like spectacular spider-man levels of good. The voicing, animation, designs, writing, it's ALL here. the overarching plot is also particularly capturing in this show, which sometimes fails to be the case for some superhero shows! i will say that i start to dislike SOME elements of the overarching plot introduced in Ep. 7 and beyond, but they don't diminish my love of this show very much at all. cannot WAIT for season 2 foaming at the mouth, chomping, zinging around my room etc)

Loved the latest chapter, it hurt so good! and now I'm super worried for Sokka. Hakoda's feelings are fair in the situation, but his immediate betrayal of Sokka's trust was painful. When Sokka inevitably finds out about the Secret Zuko Discussions™ and their eventual decision its gonna mess him up :(((( Can they ever catch a break??? Will we get more private zukka moments with the SWT watching them all the time??? im begging

Secondly.... I have gotten a lot of mixed feelings about Hakoda telling Bato & Gilak about Sokka’s Secret. (Which isn’t even really sokkas secret lol) but we all know all things Zuko are also Sokka so I guess we can let THAT slide….

& yesssss, it was shitty to turn around & break his promise...

......but was it though…? (I may rant a bit under the cut lol)

Ok unpopular opinion & y’all can yell at me if you need to… 

but Hakoda did technically leave his children home with his mother to lead his men into battle. A decision I respect because I see the reasoning, even if I don’t totally support it.... A battle they have all been actively fighting for two years away from home… Hakoda has a responsibility to these men to lead them and protect them… A responsibility he chose when he decided to leave for war.

YES we all love Zuko. Yes we know he won’t hurt Sokka’s people and is actually a good guy deep down… but Hakoda doesn’t know this. All he knows is the small amount of what Sokka & Morrak told him. His job is to protect Sokka and his people, and Zuko being Prince of the Fire Nation, son of Ozai, is a lot for someone to process.

If it were to get out that Hakoda knew who Zuko was & didn’t tell anyone... what would that say about his loyalties? YES should be loyal to Sokka, and yeah it’s shitty he had to break a promise he had no right making, but he is in charge of the safety of a large group of people. & that includes Sokka.

Zuko is a threat, idc that we like him, or that we want to protect him & that he has done so much for Sokka... he is dangerous. & they already know he is a fire bender, so he isn’t really sliding under any radars already lol. 

If Hakoda didn’t keep his leadership in the loop with what was happening he wouldn’t be a good leader to his people. He needs Bato & Gilak to help him keep this situation contained and have his back if this were to blow up in his face. We also need to trust that Hakoda knows what he is doing and trusts these men enough to support him and help him do whats best.

So yeah…. It sucks, but also…. Hakoda is just trying to keep everyone safe until he knows more. 

This does also benefit the boys, because they aren’t LYING to anyone, and Hakoda isn’t a BAD GUY (so he isn’t going to torture Zuko or hurt him in anyway). He is just a father trying to do what’s best for his son and his people.. and sorry Zuko but you’re not one of them. Shit, Hakoda doesn’t even see their RELATIONSHIP he is so turned around with what’s happening. 

(As for Hakoda’s dramatic and irrational thoughts.... *peeks at Sokka* like father like son I guess? He had to get is from SOMEWHERE....)

Sorry to use your ask anon but I thought I’d go ahead & discuss the Secret Zuko Discussions because a lot of people felt that Hakoda betrayed Sokka (which he kind of did…. but also not really) He did 100000% break his promise though sooo.... BAD HAKODA!! You should do what your mentally unwell son tells you to do! JEEZ!

What a masterpiece, possibly one of the best songs she has ever written. I am not big on the WiUwiUUWii guitar in the beginning tho, please don’t cancel me if that is an unpopular opinion. But this song is so fucking powerful. Oh my god. I read this to my therapist (not because I was in a relationship with an inappropriate age gab, I wasn’t, I just think the lyrics are awesome and I need everyone to hear them) also the way she name-dropped j*hn m*yer without namedropping him was genius and not cheap at all, if you disagree get a less basic name. Even tho j*hn m*yer is my nemesis we will leave him be for now because I absolutely agree with Taylor that this should not be about her exes. It’s like some of you care more about them than about the actual music. Usually, I also do feel a little bit bad for those guys because obviously she writes about her subjective experience and I think it is kind of unfair to attack someone you don’t know over that, especially when it happened a decade ago, if someone was a bad boyfriend to her, she gets to be mad, but not us. I however truly believe j*hn is a bad person and I think anyone can be mad at him for that, I just also believe, despite all of his whining, he wants us to attack him, why else would he complain about lover lyrics like this whole fandom doesn’t despise him? Also, Taylor knows that everyone leaves their Christmas lights up until January, it’s about appreciating the mundane things in a relationship because some exes made her feel like the floor could fall through at any second and every blue sky could turn to rain JOHN. He just needs a piece of her success huh? It’s giving bloodsucker, fame fucker (I know he was like super successful when they dated, idc, not to me). Soo, I guess I did not leave him be… Sorry, the man is just soo irritating to me, I also don’t think he makes good music, my only piece of evidence for that is that once I was buying shoes and listening to speak now (the album, but I had also just reached that song in the album) and I took my earphones out and thought the music in the store was horrible and I usually don’t think stuff like that, but then the chorus came on and it said something about somebodies body being a wonderland and I know that that’s a j*hn m*yer song because emma stone screams about it in friends with benefits. So I am assuming that was his song and I hated it before I could be biased against him (I was so happy when I left the store and could finally put my earphones back in and Dear John came on) I also despise the song he wrote about Taylor, I once saw a video of him performing it and it sounded awful. an ode to pizza short modern setting oneshot, starring Ortus as he struggles w writers block and bemoans it to anyone who will listen (and also anyone who won’t), including the single employee behind the counter at a local, late-night pizza joint. the employee (Nonius, bc come on, who else was it gonna be?), tired but generally pretty pleasant, advises him to start small and not pressure himself into writing some colossal work, and suggests he start by writing abt something good that’s happened recently. Ortus instead becomes infatuated w the employee + validated by Nonius asking for updates on his writing, which does in the end actually solve his writer’s block. Only problem is that he can’t show Nonius any of his work, since it’s all abt him…

Battery Can’t think of anything particularly interesting to fit w this prompt (that i’m not actually planning on writing) so i’m going to extrapolate on a different definition of this word instead… women’s baseball team au; can either be modern setting or 40’s America, idc. Harrow’s no fuckin good at running and not particularly talented at batting but she’s got a mean pitching arm and an eye for catching batsmen out; Gideon’s got her sights on transferring to bigger league opportunities, as soon as she can catch a talent scouts eye with her awesome batting skills and get out of this dead end town. When Gideon finally does get poached, Harrow insists on being taken along, blackmailing Gideon into arguing her case; thus begins a tenuous alliance between the two as they get hustled into a ragtag women’s baseball league filled with similarly ambitious and equally skilled players from all over the place. Yes I am just pitching (ha) a TLTxLOTO fusion and idc if you don’t like it. Give me sapphic baseball content or give me death. Also just imagine w me Gideon coaching Harrow thru batting a lá holding the sword for her in ch37 gtn. beautiful, no?

that one cup in my bathroom that looks like a bubble (it’s really cool) Post gtn - As it turns out, getting rid of the part of her that can perceive Gideon means that whatever hole she tosses Gideon into is the same hole part of her own soul goes into. Harrow and Gideon’s fractured soul fragments have to navigate the labyrinth of Harrow’s own broken mind without getting caught, clotheslined into the well of her lobotomised brain and drowned, all the while not resorting to soul-on-soul violence or abandoning each other. Idk whether this is a pan’s labyrinth situation or a river bubble one or what, i just like the idea of gideon still having a harrow to seethe at.

squeeze Post-htn - Harrow wakes up in Gideon’s body and vice versa, and they individually decide to masquerade as each other until they can swap back. This goes about as well as you’d imagine, but they still give it a red hot go, and try to convince anyone who discovers the truth to get in on it and help them. Probably a crackfic if i’m honest.

crimes Hot Sauce, Honesty, Beautiful Ruby, Born in the Morning, and Kevin, herald Nona w their many illegal triumphs pre-knowing her, and beg her for one in return. Think that one episode of Batman the animated series where the joker, two-face, poison ivy, and killer croc are at a poker game telling their Almost Gottim’ story, but they’re no-good delinquent tweens talking abt their best cons instead.

finished willdress s1. i think it was pretty decent, the last few episodes were a solid 9 but the first half was like... a strong 7 at best. the anime needed an extra 13 episodes that's for sure, but i think the semifinal fights were so awesome, and the new characters were resoundingly great.

the post got a little long so my thoughts under the cut. i spoil obviously.

the episode where it was raika v tohya was pretty great cause it was all the new characters (the ones with actual presence) commentating. i do think -dress's greatest weakness is how blackout are a set piece and its refusing to break them up even a little, but by the third season its like, eh? they definitely contributed to how "okay" the first half of the series felt... i don't care about yuyu, zakusa's aight, i love tomari, tohya is better for leaving, megumi isn't suddenly gonna matter to me but i think it's funny they're driving the jobber angle so hard with her, at least it's honest.

and down in the nitty gritty that's what i enjoyed about willdress the most so far, even if it was very rushed it didn't really force a lot of conventions— raika and yuyu hate each other's guts by the end still but raika acknowledges blackout nonetheless. i do think it is in character for him to concede that much i guess, given he lost. i guess what i'm saying is "things made sense"— i think a big issue with not only vanguard but a lot of anime in general is that it seems like in an effort to resolve things, characters are bent in ways that are kind of irksome. like, i'll never get why anyone got along with kai in the original series aside from idk, miwa and aichi. getting along is kind of pushing it,

but speaking of kai, i find raika quite refreshing because he's a born hater. there's no real excuse for his behavior: he grew up to be an unpleasant person. i think there's a lot of people like that in hobby spaces, people who develop superiority inferiorty complexes because they're chronic tryhards first and foremost. as mentioned before i like that he is still a hater. come s2 i hope he keeps being a stupid bitch boy.

i do think my favorite characters however were urara and michiru. i don't think there is anyone who watched the show who would disagree with my assessment. urara was the beating heart of this season no questions asked. i don't think there was a single moment that had me going "what the fuck is she doing?!" because she was solid. it's quite easy to mess up shrinking violet blorbo characters imo. i would have loved more episodes to flesh out her troubles, but out of everyone, her arc was the most strongly realized and it is satisfactory enough as it is. she achieves both being cute and being a well constructed character all at once, despite the limited runtime alotted to each character. as the beginner character this season, i really do wish she had been the protagonist instead of yuyu... i don't have much to say about him in particular except that i was just going "lol idc" for most of his screentime. for some reason he became a really cool guy for the last few episodes of the season... but i don't consider it. it doesn't feel thoroughly earned. definitely an issue of the anime being one cour. but yeah, she kind of reminds me of naoki from the original in a way, except she avoids the pitfalls naoki had... i do think it was quite cool that naoki SUCKED ASS at vanguard but i loved that urara had a strong win record. the fight that ended her streak was quite good, she didn't feel cheated out of it at all like it usually feels like when a female character loses in vanguard. L O L.

i thought i wouldn't have much to say about michiru, but what a tour de force of a character. THIS is how you do GAR, not whatever the fuck they were doing with danji in season 1. it's not enough to say "this character is well liked and awesome". that's a lot of tell, no show. not to mention danji's actions were rather aggravating and got in the way of the plot constantly to the point where i remember the first season was more than halfway and it was nothing but danji dicking around performing clamp brand cringe. none of that with michiru: he looks like he just got out of bed constantly... and has looked this way for at least a decade. it's kind of amazing. he might as well be 40 years old and i'm subscribing to that idea personally. i was worried that they'd write the character voiced by a famous johnny's idol(!) to be a lame overpowered Thing, but he was incredibly charming. he really is overwhelmingly strong after all, but they made the right call of pushing him to the background and making him a moeblob who does funny funnies and can't read the room sometimes. infinitely charismatic character. he is everyone's ideal, and no one seems to be able to reach him, even though he's so down to earth... i truly do love the contrast. raika being a huge fanboy adds to it because when he finally lost me and fabio kept hooting and hollering and that was probably the only way i think most people were gonna root for yuyu at all— if raika's entire raison d'etre crumpled up and collapsed before his eyes (it happened quite literally too....hehehehe. iykyk.)

small bit for taizo— the only character who feels a little robbed, but i do think it was a little brave of them to kill him off and not let him advance to the semis out of courtesy of him not being one of the non-characters. but i guess that's how the bracket works given he lost two or three times in a row? (i forgot, but he missed his chance thoroughly). i hope his promise to not give up on his dream of capitalism means he'll be in s2 cause i quite liked him, i wasn't as invested in him as urara but it really is a case of feeling bad for the loser, you know.

dunno when we'll catch up to s2 but i hope it's while it's still airing. i like the designs of the new characters :)
