Casca de reis 🍰 a cake made of marzipan stuffed with candied sweet potato, candied egg yolk or pumpkin. It's made in the shape of a ring, a snake or another animal, and accompanied with dragée almonds, dried fruit, anise sweets, candied pumpkin and other candied fruits.

The casca is from the Valencian Country, where it's eaten on Three Wise Men Day (January 6th, the day we get the Christmas presents brought by the Three Wise Men), traditionally either brought by godparents as a gift for their godchildren or as a gift left by the Three Wise Men. Families can choose either this casca de reis or the other traditional dessert for the holiday, tortell de reis.

This recipe is documented since at least the year 1520, when it appears in the recipe book Llibre del Coc by Mestre Robert. The word "casca" (in diminutive, "casqueta") already appears in a list of sweets that are part of a poem by in Jaume Roig's famous book Espill, published in 1460.

My Super Mario presents! 🤩✨

Guys! 🤩 AAAHHH I got a few Mario related presents today! And I felt like sharing them with you because I'm so HAPPY! 😭✨

First I got this cute notebook, it's so adorable! 😍 As a writer I've ALWAYS loved notebooks, so I'm really happy to have a new little thingy to take notes for the Mario fanfics I want to write 🤭📒✨

Look at the inside! 🤩 I love that the inner lid shows the power-ups, and also that the bros are in the pages, high-fiving and being the amazing team we know they are, they're sooo cute! 😭❤💚✨

I also got this beautiful calendar that I already hung on my wall, isn't it adorable?? 😍

This is the back side with the pictures of each month, and yes, it included a poster that I'll soon hang on my walls as well! 😍✨

I wasn't expecting this. Like, AT ALL. I've been wanting to try this game for a few months now, since I saw Kitty Mario in the movie, and I just can't believe I'll finally have the chance to play as Cat Mario and Luigi and Peach and Toad AAAAAHHHH I can't wait to see them all in their cat forms!!! 😭😭😭

Also, look at that beautiful Super Mario Bros. Wonder wrapping paper! 😍 It's so BEAUTIFUL! 😭 I'm obviously keeping it 🤭💖

Man, I'm just ELATED I got all these Mario presents this festive season! 🥹 Can't wait to start using the notebook, and obviously to try the game!!! 😭😭😭 AAAHHH THE HAPPINESS ✨

If the wise men were just a little wiser...

JOKE-OGRAPHY: In the story this cartoon is based on, the three wise men are traveling to see the newborn Jesus, believing Him to be the new King of the Jews according to some astronomical prophecy.  On the way there, they stop to see Herod, the current king of the Jews, who's disturbed by the news that there's a new king.  He asks the wise men to come back to him once they find this "new king" so he can also go and do Him homage, but his actual intentions are to send soldiers to kill Jesus once he knows His location.  The wise men don't catch onto his evil scheme, but after they find Jesus and share gifts with Him, they're warned in a dream to return home by another way so Herod can't figure out exactly where Jesus is.  In this cartoon, Herod's scheme is slightly less subtle.
