OH, now THAT's a challenge! I'll try my best to answer it!

Pride: a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired. Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Nancy is definitely on that road. Which may even backfire for her 😉

Greed: intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food.

Zelda. Her dreams of becoming a successful musician, but getting rejected a lot, just makes her greed all the worse.

Wrath: extreme anger.

Bebe. For feeling so out of touch with everything, blaming her parents (specifically her mother).

Envy: a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck; desire to have a quality, possession, or other desirable thing belonging to (someone else).

Morgana, for not being with whom she wants to be.

Lust: have strong sexual desire for someone; hungry for power; A powerful desire for something.

I mean, that would be Morgana too :p But the longer Christopher is around, that would apply to him as well.

Gluttony: over-indulgence and over-consumption of food or drink.

Pass.

Sloth: reluctance to work or make an effort; laziness.

Not yet ;) Although, I would say at its current state, it would be Thornton, for not trying to save their marriage at all.

Congratulations (or commiserations ...) on your promotion. Regarding your son’s horticulture project on ‘Weed Control’, the two most important things to remember are:

1. Dandelions are b**t**ds.

2. It’s not your imagination, weed killer really isn’t as good as it used to be, as all the stuff that used to be in it is now banned for being carcinogenic or in some other way more lethal to the users than the intended victims.

3. Whatever it is, thank your lucky stars it’s not Giant Hogweed ...

I'm sick of beating this tired old drum about my lack of posts, but I feel so bad about it and sooo frustrated! Anyway this last week I've been catapulted into a manager's role at work (AAAAAARGHHHH) and have also been helping my son with a new horticulture project on 'Weed Control', and sadly that hasn't left much ANY time for Simming. What usually happens each evening after my kids have gone to sleep is that I open my game, stare at Roy and Anya for a few moments and then next thing I know is my husband is telling me to go to bed because I've dozed off and I'm dribbling all over my tshirt. Tomorrow is Saturday but I have kids' activities then a lunch and a dinner to attend so hopefully...there may be an update Sunday??? I wish I could invite everyone inside my head to view the updates that live there, SERIOUSLY, why isn't this possible in 2022?? Hope all my beloved mutuals are safe and well and as always I LOVE YOUSE ALL!!!!

When did you start playing Sims?

I started playing Sims 1, not long after it came out, so 2000 :O. We didn’t have a computer at home so whenever I visited my aunt I would literally play it all day. She was also a huge gamer and nerd so didn’t mind. I was actually given her pc after she died and I kept playing her sims neighbourhood (as well as her creatures game). Birthdays got a lot easier after that because everyone just got me the new expansion packs. 

I remember seeing about the sims 2 on the cover of a magazine and getting so excited for it because the kids actually grew up!!

Have you been playing consistently or do you have breaks inbetween?

I played pretty much daily from 14 to 22. Then I discovered the sims community and stopped playing so much and started posting pictures and chatting with other simmers instead and also downloading everything I could find. I played for so long without an internet connection so I didn’t even have the official patches! I had my first break from playing when my first laptop killed itself (it melted itself!) and I felt like I was going crazy not being able to play. That probably lasted about 2 months XD 

But, now I haven’t actually played a family since I was pregnant, nearly 2 years ago. I’ve almost finished cleaning up my downloads folder and my daughter is actually sleeping at night, so fingers crossed!

Do your family & friends know that you play The Sims?

Hahahaha!!! Yes! I bring it up ALL the time. Sometimes I’ll be talking to my sister about one of my sims and someone will be there who’ll ask who I was talking about. Yeah, I’m not really embarrassed about my gaming habits. I even showed my mum my tumblr after she overheard me telling my partner about some new followers. She wasn’t too impressed, but she never really understood the sims. She’s more of a fan of goal driven games, like theme hospital or the campaign modes of the tycoon games. My partner used to come home and ask me how Wendy or Lauren was getting on <3

Do you spend more time in build or live mode? Why?

I think it’s a pretty equal split. Some days I’ll be working on a new community lot and other days I’ll just play. I do find that I get burnt out with building quite quick, so I like to break it up by popping into a household.

Do you play with supernatural creatures (like Vampires, Werewolves etc.)? Why not?

Yes I do, I had lots of supernatural sims in my Odessa Bay hood. A werewolf colony and a witch family, 2 or 3 plantsims, 2 vampires and a zombie. Also lots of aliens. I haven’t really worked on getting supernaturals in this hood, but there are still aliens and plantsims.

Do you have one specific family you play with all the time (like a legacy of some sort) or do you rotate between a couple of households?

I’m all about rotational play. Even when I was first playing the game, I found it was so weird that a sims parents will still be adults while that sim is dying of old age. I always liked the legacies where people actually played the spares, because it made sense to me that the legacy heirs would have aunts and uncles and cousins that they grew up with. My first legacy that I played seriously, I would move in the sims friends and play their households too so that the legacy kids had kids to be friends with in the neighbourhood. I was so excited when I came across the Build a City Challenge rules :D

Do you like to create your own neighborhoods or do you play with the existing families? Tell us about your progress :)

I like to make my own hoods. Generation 3 is being born and growing up at the moment in my game. I have a downtown connection unlocked which means I can send my sims on vacation and downtown, but I haven’t actually started making those sub-hoods yet. I’m also working towards getting a university unlocked. I’m almost there and it will be a college in the main hood, so I don’t have to worry about building up another sub-hood.

Do you create custom content? If so, what keeps you motivated? (If not, would you like to? What stops you from learning it? For players that don’t use mods, why do you stay away from CC?)

I can do a few things. The simpler things, hair recolours, painting recolours, etc. I like to get requests, I guess. I’m always more motivated to actually finish something when someone’s asked me for it. I have a folder full of hair I want to do eventually and a folder of exported shoes that I just need to chop up in milkshape, but...eh...

If there was one piece of CC or (if you play without mods) one piece you wish the developers implemented, what would it be?

I really like the festivals from sims 4 and sims 3. Especially the sims 4 ones. I haven’t played them, but they look interesting. Food eating contests, special food and merchandise, graffiti, etc. I also really like the way you need specific ingredients for recipes in the sims 3. 

Oh also I love the way that each instrument has it’s own skill tree, so that someone great at playing the guitar isn’t also amazing at the violin, even though they’ve never touched it before.

What other expansion and/or accessoires pack do you wish the developers would have come out with?

There’s so many things I wish were added to the game. I like the generations expansion for sims 3, the extra things for elders, the school trips, prom, driving lessons for teens, the teens being able to throw house parties while their parents are on holiday, the bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc. It’s all good (shame the sims 3 isn’t great for me). I like the parenting skill (and toddler skills) from sims 4 too, more generational stuff please. I also like ambitions, where the sims are commissioned to redecorate a room, or makeover a sim, that looks like fun. I could stage it in my game, but it’s always nice when something is actually in game.  

And I wish they had done more with the witches, I feel like they did ok, but after making magic, it was pretty lacklustre. At least give me my duelling stage back!

Oh and pets! Pet shows, horses, collectable small animals, the fish tanks from sims 1, where you bought 1 fish out of a full tank in the pet shop. Also sims 2 is the only game that didn’t get a chemistry set :(

Candace felt her anger melt in the face of this utter lack of defiance. “I... it really has been a very stressful few days. Four days ago I never imagined I’d be coming here or even knew that this school existed. Everyone I speak to, practically, has been ‘informing’ me all day about things I don’t know or missed because I wasn’t present for the morning gathering at the school today and I only arrived in town yesterday.”

Olive nodded, “I do think it’s perfectly natural. And please, don’t be offended at my random Edgar Allan Poe quotes. They just slip out sometimes. He’s my favorite author, and I think you bring him to mind because you’re just so lovely. It’s like he said, ‘That pleasure which is at once the most pure, the most elevating and the most intense, is derived, I maintain, from the contemplation of the beautiful.’ “ Olive gave a slight smile, “Also it IS pretty late and it sounds like you’ve had a lot of stress in the past few days.”

While the compliment was touching, the sympathetic tone threatened to raise Candace’s ire again. ‘I do NOT need your sympathy. I am more than equal to these circumstances.’ She fought to keep her glare from returning, “Oh, that was a quote? I’ve read some Poe, but I’m not intimately familiar with all his works. That’s... thank you. That’s a rare compliment.” She glanced at the window and noticed that it was now full dark outside. “I suppose I should be going soon. Heather mentioned a curfew.” Olive rolled her eyes, “Yes, I think it’s rather silly, but they do seem keen on enforcing it ‘for our own good’. You should get some rest. I’ll see you at school tomorrow?”

Candace nodded as she looked back at Olive, who was holding the door open for her, “Yes. And this time, I’ll be there ON TIME.” Olive smiled, “Toodleoo then! See you in the morning!”

I love your interiors! I got hopelessly stuck in the tomb, but I had a look in build/buy, and now I really want to play a catacomb civilization there.

OH GOSH I WAS WONDERING. I’m so sorry, I know I made a few spots difficult but I tried not to! I think I got a little carried away. I’m glad you love the look of it though!! <3

After stowing the bicycle, Candace took a few steps to the door of the house right next to hers, and knocked on the door. A cheerful looking girl with a smile already on her face opened it a few moments later, “Oh hello! It’s my beautiful new neighbor! I saw you move in yesterday. Won’t you come in?” Candace walked in to a shabby chic little house where the furnishings seemed oddly in sync with the individual that was living here. She was pleased to instantly receive a compliment without having even asked for one, so after looking around for a moment, she commented, “It’s fascinating that your living space seems to uniquely reflect you. I’m Candace, by the way. Candace Miranae.”

“Oh. I forgot introductions! I’m Olive! It’s so nice to meet you. And thank you!” Olive beamed. “I’ve done my best with it. It’s nothing fancy, but it should see me through the years at school here.” Candace nodded sagely, “Sometimes we do what we must. You are one of my fellow students then? I don’t think I saw you at school today.” Olive gave a wry smile at this, “Well, this is a school for the talented and gifted, and my mother always told me I was lacking in talent so I’d have to make up the lack with a lot of hard work. I had my nose to the grindstone reading the first chapters of the books they handed out for the various subjects.”

Candace suddenly remembered that one of the things listed in the packet of papers that Benjamin had printed out for her had been a list of books and the classes they were associated with. Which, in her daydreaming, she’d neglected to go pick up from the main school office. He’d told her exactly where to find them, and she’d forgotten all about it. She looked back at Olive, “Oh. I’m afraid I was so excited to meet my fellow students today I completely forgot to even pick up my books. And the class president was so nice about printing me out a copy of the list and telling me where to find them, too.” She looked mildly chagrinned. “Well, I’m sure I’ll be able to catch up. I DO have a lot of talent, it’s why my great aunt Tabitha wanted so much for me to attend this school after all.”

“I wonder, if I hang out with you enough, maybe some of the talent will rub off?” Olive grinned, and then intoned, “I remained too much inside my head and ended up losing my mind.” Not recognizing the quote, Candace was about to take offense when Olive continued, “You met Benjamin? He is nice, isn’t he? He helped me get my books too,” Olive gushed, “He even helped me find the books on Edgar Allan Poe in the library.” There was a brief silent pause as she fell silent again and then Candace, seething, DID take offense, “You think you’re better than me just because I forgot to collect my books? Don’t think he likes you just because he helped you. He probably helps -everyone- because it’s part of his JOB as class president!”

Olive actually took a step back, and raised her hands in a conciliatory manner. “I didn’t mean what you seem to think, it’s just a quote that came to mind by my favorite author...” Candace cut her off, “It’s been a very difficult couple of days, what with attending aunt Tabitha’s funeral yesterday morning, moving to a new place, trying to remember all the requirements I’m under! I think forgetting a few things is perfectly natural!” Olive backed off a few more steps, but remained silent this time. Candace glared at her, but after several moments, she was astonished that rather than getting angry at her, Olive seemed to be merely waiting for her to calm down with a concerned look on her face.
