#Twi give him something better to eat

Hyrule is a fine cook, you guys are just mean.
I will start by pointing out that Wild says the ham water is really tasty. Who is going to be a better judge of the ham water? The one who has eaten nothing but pastries and croissants his whole life?
Tumblr media
The lord of pumpkin spice? The army guy who probably lived off of MRE equivalents? The rancher who chugs literal grubs?
Tumblr media
Or the one person who is so good with food that he is universally recognized as the cook?
Tumblr media
Kudos to you if you chose the grub chugger, nothing wrong with eating bugs, but the correct answer was Wild; Wild is the best choice for judge. Partially because he has 1000x more experience with food than the others (statistics taken from my own save files), but mostly because no one else in the group has any significant experience with cooking their own food. Twi did his best helping with that stinky fish for Yeto's soup but it doesn't count.
As the croissant eater points out, the meat looks old.
Tumblr media
For it to be old but not have started rotting, it would have to be cured meat (we’ll say ham because what better way to spite Ganon than by eating pig for lunch). Hyrule has probably even upgraded since his first adventure and it’s not just your basic salted ham food (which already costs about the same as a magic shield in game), it’s probably the Hyrulian equivalent of Jamón Ibérico de Bellota from his buddy pal Zelda(s) at the castle. I know I’d give someone a fancy ham for saving my kingdom twice. Hyrule is basically a gourmet at this point. You need quality nutrients to grow healthy hair, as our traveler pointed out, and who has the bestest most fluffiest hair? Hyrule does. Look at the fluffy:
Tumblr media
It is absolutely possible to make tasty soup from the most basic 100 rupee cured ham. That’s a real thing that real people do in real life. You can even do it with 50 rupee ham in a can if you’re desperate (I say 50 rupee instead of 25 because of inflation). Hyrule put the bone in too so not only is there the salty flavor from the cured meat, he very well could have been making a nice bone broth for his injured colleague (he could have put other ingredients in off screen too but that’s beside the point). Ever heard of ham bone broth or other broth based soups? Ham and lentils soup? Probably not if you are a croissant eater who never had to cook ham water for yourself on the road. Croissants aren’t even that good unless they have chocolate in the middle, and that’s just because of the chocolate. If you’re going through the effort of laminating all that dough you should just go all the way and make something actually good like pastéis de nata.
Anyway, Hyrule is implied to be a terrible cook and I love that for him. Mostly I just wanted to take this chance to complain about croissants.

LU BACKROOMS???
This is basically me describing backrooms based on the Chain, one on the safer side and one deadly and how to survive them :]
@trippygalaxy @vio-starzz @mushr0oms-and-m0ss @shadowlinktheshadow @raven-does-artstuff-894 @treasure-goblin idk who cares about this but I spent all day on it-
Tumblr media
Time
His first liminal space is fairly safe. You can’t die unless you do something diabolical.
His safe room like would be basically like this
You fall down somewhere, probably on your walk home, but you pick yourself up and see that this is very much not the side of the road. This is a grassy field.
There weren’t many grassy fields where you lived. And even those fields were no where near as expansive as this one.
Upon looking around, you see a giant wall and a drawbridge. You start walking to it, thinking that you somehow fell hard enough to pass out.
You reach Castle Town and get weird glances from many. While you’re scouting the area, you spot a little boy in green picking up random dogs. You look at him weird when he puts one dog down and chases after another one.
The boy catches you staring and with one glance, you’re suddenly in that big grassy field again
So yeah, if bro looks at you, you get set back. After a while, this space will easily drive someone insane. This is because no matter what you do, you will meet him, and you both will meet eyes, and you’ll be sent back to the beginning.
So in a way, Survival Rate: 98% but it’s gradual and you might get out of there before you go insane
For his “You’re most likely gonna die” room
I wanted to incorporate Majora’s Mask into it, saying that the masks are hunting you.
There goal is to capture you and bring you to Fierce Deity. He thinks that you killed Link.
But you didn’t because this little kid who told you that he was who the deity was looking for is literally following behind you-
This kid could be regular young Link or Ben Drowned, though it would change the survival rate massively
Survival Rate for young Link: 67%
Survival Rate for Ben Drowned: 15%
This is because the only way to stop being hunted and/or not die is to present a piece of Link to the deity when you’re eventually caught
If it’s Link, he’ll accept it and call the masks off and you’ll be free to move on to the next hell or, if god loves you, you’ll go home
If it’s Ben, you better be fast on your toes because you’ll be hunted until you die or get out of there.
I want to also want to add that the masks don’t just pop up out of no where when they find you.
You know how you have to follow the music in order to learn Saria’s Song? Don’t do that. You’ll be caught
When they emit the Song of Healing, run, Link/Ben will be right on your trail and even if he wasn’t when you stopped running, he’ll always find you even if he leads a mask to you
I forgot to mention that Link/Ben will give you hints as to how you need to give Fierce a piece of his tunic or hair or something close to it
Also that Link/Ben physically can not get close to FD as they are, as the boy says, “part of the same soul”
Twilight
Idea given from @tiercel13 and @link-posting
That whole game has this unsettlingly warm ethereal quality where it's like- you're comfortable but uncomfortable at the same time and it's so weird
But basically I would say somewhere like a large field that's in perpetual twilight. You've never seen it before but it feels safe and familiar, like you've been there a thousand times. Still, there's something just slightly off, and it prevents you from ever being able to truly relax
It’s a village, deserted in the canyons, it’s wooden houses crumbling with time and weathering
Survival Rate: 100%
I think we all expected this one but you’re being hunted. It’s just you, the flora, the fauna, and a big wolf trying to kill you
It’s Wolf Twi but it’s not wolf Twi. Like, that’s the Blue-eyed Beast alright, but that’s definitely not Twilight. That’s a Wolf hardened by the need to survive. A need to eat.
The thing about this room is that it’s very survivable, but only to a select few people
For people who know how to manage in the woods, who know how to make fires without lighters, who know how to properly cook wild animals without utensils and iron, for those who are experienced in the wilds, they have a much easier time surviving this
But for those who are always inside and have little to no outside knowledge, you’re cooked almost immediately
This is a genuine hunt. This wolf can hear god knows how far, this wolf can track you with even the faintest scent
The only reason why the survival rate is as high as it is, is because it hesitates.
That’s how many survive their first encounter with the wolf, the wolf hesitates to take that final bite
I feel like the only real way to get out of here if to survive for a certain amount of time
Survival Rate: 52%
Warriors
Another idea by @tiercel13 because they are so big brained
For safe it's the castle barracks but they have a completely nonsensical layout
there's random doors where they shouldn't be and some of the actual ones are gone, there's things in the rooms like it's just been vacated but a layer of dust covers everything
It must be vacant right? Those shadows that lurk behind the corners are just you going crazy right? Nobody is here. Nobody is here. Nobody is here. Nobody is here-
Survival Rate: 87%
Idea given by @hyrules-feral-hero
You got claustrophobia? That’s too bad, you’re stuck in a fairy bottle now
You don’t get ripped apart or anything like that
Your death will be slow and painful
Conserve oxygen? There’s no reason to, you’re not going to be set free :)
Survival Rate: 0%
Sky
I feel like being blunt with this one
Safe space is just a vacant Skyloft
No one is around, just the occasional keese and Remlits and rapid Loftwings flying about so watch your head!
It’s peaceful and welcoming and airy but empty.
I imagine that this would bring about some sort of uncanny valley feeling, but that is probably the wrong word for it. Because who lived here? Why are these birds so big? Why are these raccoon cats so aggressive at night?
Survival Rate: 100%
Get Silent Realmed😌
Basically just that. If you don’t know what the Silent Realm is, it’s basically a thing you do in SS where you have to get 15 tears
You have to get 15 orbs, if you step into waking water or a spirit’s light or take too long to get one of the orbs, the guardians will be after you
The guardians are what make this space dangerous. If they catch you, no matter how insignificant the gash was, you will die
You can get these guardians off of you when you get the next tear, but until you get all of them and retreat back to where you started, you are at the mercy of the guardians
Survival Rate: 73%
Wild
Picture this, you just woke up in this weird place so naturally, you ask someone where you are.
“This is Faron woods, are you a traveler?”
“…sure…?”
“Great! I can’t really leave this stable with my condition, so could you do me a favor and give this to my wife?” The old man asked
“…what?”
“She lives over in Hateno, up passed the Dueling Peaks!” He shoves a note in your hands
“Sir I-“
“Thank you so much! Here’s your pay for your kindness!” Upon inspecting what he had given you, you see that this is a bare diamond
You were bringing this man’s wife this letter.
Survival Rate: 85%
Evermean forest, good old homicidal trees, need I say more?
Survival Rate: 95%
Wind
Imagine chilling on a boat with your grandpa but your grandpa is the boat.
Yes, the waters are expansive, you haven’t seen an island in days if at all, but this boat is keeping you company, telling jokes, soothing your nerves
Maybe you should be freaking out that this boat is talking, but his voice is nice so what can you say?
You start to joke around, singing dumb sea shanties, he chuckles with your antics, but keeps moving forward.
The sea is vast, but at least you’re not alone
Survival Rate: 98%
Imagine this: You’ve just been dropped in this random place. Now you’re on a random raft in the middle of the sea
Suddenly, the wind isn’t strong enough to push you forward and you’re on top of a tidal wave
Your raft finally gets back on steady water, but now there’s a shadow looming over you
You turn around and you can even comprehend how big it is
It’s probably the Kraken btw
Survival Rate: 0%
You’re cooked 100%
Hyrule
I’m realizing that a good bit of these rooms are in the woods, well, Rulie’s is no better🤷🏽‍♂️
Except these woods don’t have anything trying to actively murder you and eat you
These woods have things trying to help you
Little floating glowing grandmas if you will😌
As soon as you fell into these woods you smelled sugar and sweets, you were still very discombobulated from your fall and now you were suddenly in woods?
Soon enough, you’re swarmed by lights of different colors, they ask you if you’re alright, if you’re ok, what is someone like you doing here
Then they guide you out of the Fairy woods, whether that means that you end up in another room or go home is up to god
Survival Rate: 100%
Idea given to me by @tiercel13
A neverending cave slowly circling further and further down. The deeper you go the more it seems to close in, the air seems thicker, and the voices of people you almost recognize begin to echo off the walls, crying for help
This room, similar to Time’s “safe space” is mostly a “you’re going to go insane” rather than “that thing is gonna fucking kill you” :)
Survival Rate: depends how sane you were when you entered
Four
Imagine going on a wild goose chase for coins kinstones in a field with all the pieces hidden in tall grass
Survival Rate: 100% but it’s hell
This is gonna make some people mad but let me cook rq
You guys know Poppy Playtime? The Smiling Critters that chase you? That one clip from the Hour of Joy when they were eating that one guy alive?
That, but Minish :)
Survival Rate: 0%
As you traverse these woods, you realize that there are no animals in the wake. No rabbits, no mice, not even a wolf.
But this forest is littered with the bones of those lost animals.
So basically for backstory, minish got overpopulated and that meant they ate meat religiously. It was enough to feed, but soon enough, they ran out of food and now they’re hungry again
There is no survival here
There are too many Minish and you are locked in their woods
You can here their chittering and chatting, but if they spot you, you’ll only know by the dead silence of the forest
You can try breaking the bones you find on your path, opening the middle so they can smell the marrow rather than your flesh
But you only have little time and some bones are thick
And- wait…who’s bones are these? These are Hylain bones-
Legend
There are so many choices with Legend…
For his safe room, you’re just chilling on the walls. Not in the walls, on them. Your image is planted on the wall. You can move freely, you’re just glued to the wall, 2D
You’ll probably use this to scare the weird people who live around the house who’s walls you currently inhabit.
Survival Rate: 99.9% (Someone played too much and the family who lived there destroyed the house)
You guys no the movie Us? It’s basically that
There are different versions of you running around and they kinda really want you dead-
Survival Rate: 65%

kiss > keys. alhaitham x reader
gender neutral reader! not really proofread (so i apologize for the wrong grammar that you would encounter) and it's also another alhaitham (supposedly ayato butttttttt yeah 😓)
also it contained language so read at your own risk! 😵‍💫
author's note. by the way, thank you so much from my previous post it had gotten a lot of attention! i love you guys <3 (poor ao3 and wattpad i'm still not giving them updates 😣)
edit. LOL i forgot to tag and i feel like this would flop and i dont wanna repost it anymore cuz itd like 1am here so 😔
you had decided to stay at kaveh’s apartment (that you weren’t aware he had a hot roommate he said he didn’t like), only because you had nowhere to stay and your budget wasn’t enough to rent a place. after all, you managed to enter the akademiya because of a scholarship, and it was an opportunity because the akademiya was one of the great schools in teyvat.
but after a few days of staying at kaveh’s apartment, he announced to you and his roommate that he would be going on a trip, and it was a requirement for his task. you glared at your cousin who suddenly made a decision (that he said, he didn’t have a choice) to leave you with the roommate he didn’t trust.
“i thought you didn’t trust your roommate? and now you’re leaving me with him?” you asked unbelievably to your cousin.
“i don’t. but i trust you that you knew how to handle yourself already,” he retorted, placing his clothes inside his baggage. what’s worse was he will be out for a few months, and you knew you wouldn’t be able to get enough mora (when you’re only helping in the library and they only gave you a few) to rent a place.
the reason why you were also willingly to come here and accept the scholarship. it’s because your parents declared that your cousin was studying here and you could stay at his place (they also didn’t know he has a roommate).
“bitch your roommate owns this apartment and you didn’t even say a word? to us?” you remembered rolling your eyes and crossing your arms when you managed to have alone time with kaveh.
he reasoned that he didn’t bother saying anything anymore, so that there wouldn’t be more questions coming from the family (since they won’t shut up when there were happenings around you and kaveh’s lives).
meh, understandable, but still. what the hell?
“alhaitham,” kaveh averted his gaze to his grey-haired man roommate, who had never left his sight on his book. “if you did something to my cousin i would burn you and your house alive.”
you snorted. he was so good at threatening people, but you knew that he would also never do it.
when kaveh left, the first few days with alhaitham was awkward, and the house was really silent unless they would ask each other about the house details like where would he be eating for tonight, whatsoever. other than that, nothing more.
nevertheless, time passed when there was a project you needed to do. but when you asked for your professor’s guidance (because there were difficulties on your part), he suggested that alhaitham should teach you.
you were annoyed, but it eventually became okay because he was your roommate for quite a while and hopefully he wouldn’t neglect you since your professor asked him to do it.
“you were doing it the wrong way,” that was his line whenever you talk to him about your project. you couldn’t help but sigh, but it was also okay for you because you’re taking this as an opportunity to become better.
during those days, you would make small talks when things went silent, and he oddly cooperated. you had never thought that this would be an entrance to make the two of you closer.
and you would be lying if you didn’t find him more attractive that you wouldn’t stop yourself from falling.
“i wonder how much information you know since you never stopped reading,” you said when both of you were getting some fresh air outside, yet his eyes were still focused on his book.
“enough that it would make your mind stir,”
you blinked.
twice.
either you got that or you didn’t. there were no betweens.
“well, you might be considered as the smartest man in the world since you contained a lot of information that would make your mind stir,” instead, you made a joke out of it. you chuckled out of foolishness.
he snorted. “that was a terrible joke.”
you rolled your eyes, “of course it was. that wasn’t a joke anymore at some point.”
his lips curved.
the chemistry friendship between you had gotten closer and if both of you had free time, you would hang out together. and it didn’t mean you would go out and do things, but staying at one place and letting the silence eat the ambiance away was enough to consider as a hang out.
you might have considered it as a rest too. the his presence was so comfortable and peaceful that you would never want to go away and his arms wrapped around you would make you simply not care about the world anymore.
his face wasn’t always buried in the pages of his book. instead, you two hung out more and you could see his facial softened whenever he was talking to you. you could see his smile frequently too.
you knew you were falling, yet you’re scared that things wouldn’t be the same if ever he didn’t like you back.
a sigh escaped your lips when you knew you had to live for two days because of a project in port ormos. you knew you would miss him (even though it’s only for two days—maybe you had gotten very comfortable and used to his presence to the point you didn’t want to be away from it anymore).
“see you in two days, roomie,” you giggled at the nickname you suddenly made. he glanced at you interestingly.
“since when did you start calling me that?”
“since now,” you teasingly smiled, remaining in eye contact with him.
“okay, be careful when you’re there.” he said, still maintaining eye contact. His eyes were so pretty.
“okay, roomie,” you teased.
he slightly rolled his eyes but his beautiful smile carved on his lips that you knew you would miss.
you wore your backpack on your back and prepared to walk away from his apartment.
yet you suddenly hovered your hands on your pocket, realising you forgot the keys with you.
“haitham,” you spoke softly, “you forgot to give me the keys,”
the next thing you knew, a soft lips were pressed in your lips. your eyes expanded and how your body reacted started to become uncontrollable.
without giving you time to adjust, he moved away. and your lips suddenly felt empty.
“haitham, the keys of the apartment not a kiss,” you pressed your lips together, maintaining your composure. “but that was better,”
he smirked, “you want me to kiss you again?”
you smiled, unable to trust yourself with how and what you will answer.
the next thing you knew, he leaned, feeling his delicate lips on yours that was lasting for only seconds but it felt long.
“haitham, the keys,” you whispered when you pulled away.
“that would be unnecessary, baby. i’ll be heading with you.”
“wait, huh?” you tried to prevent yourself from smiling because of the endearment, and the news he declared. “you’re coming too?”
“yes, i need to meet someone there for a day,” he answered. “i’ll wait for you to finish before we head home again.”
“thank you, haitham,” you smiled brightly, planting a small peck on his cheek.
“besides doing it for you, i’m also doing it for myself,” he replied with a smile. “two days without you would be insufferable.”

Crooked Ways [19/22]
Tumblr media
“Bulma.”
She moaned, turning her head away from the sound, too deeply entrenched in the soft blackness of slumber to care who was talking or why.
“Bulma.”
Again? This time a sharp shake of her shoulders sent her head flying up, almost banging it on the lamp of her desk. Cussing, Bulma rubbed her sore head and whirled around in her seat, giving Vegeta’s scowl an even better, blacker scowl.
“It’s two in the morning,” he said. “Go to bed or I’ll put you to bed.”
Two in the - no, it couldn’t be. It had been ten p.m. just a few minutes ago, when she’d been putting the finishing touches on her giant robot design. She’d had the brilliant inspiration to install some gravity sensors to pull things towards it - a fantastic challenge that Vegeta would no doubt enjoy.
“It is not,” Bulma protested, her voice thick. She picked up her watch where she’d taken it off to work on her design. Squinting, she gasped aloud when she saw that Vegeta was right. It was two in the morning. “I can’t go,” she said, grabbing at the papers around where she’d rested her head to gather them together. “I wanted to get this done and start working in the morning. I mean, I’m close, but I - ”
Vegeta started spouting off better cuss words than she had. A second later her chair was kicked away from the desk and she was hauled straight out of it, tossed over his shoulder like a sack of flour.
“This is for your robot!” Bulma fumed, but didn’t bother fighting. She had no chance.
“If you make me a robot without a proper night’s sleep, you’ll probably end up killing me,” he said. “You are going to bed.”
“Ha! You want to have sex this bad, don’t you?”
Outside of the lab, the Capsule Corp hallways were dim at the late hour, oppressively silent after their echoing voices. What had Vegeta been doing up, anyway? Training, probably. Or eating.
“This isn’t about sex, Bulma,” Vegeta intoned. “You are going to bed.”
“Mine or yours? Because if it’s yours, I’ll know for sure you’re lying.”
“Fine, then. Your bed.”
She grumbled, tempted to kick out her legs to make the journey more difficult for him. He’d probably slap her bum if she did that. Tempting, and she was about to start kicking when Vegeta jostled her violently with a,
“Don’t squirm.”
“Hmph!” Bulma wriggled her hips, but half-heartedly. “Are you going to tuck me in, too? Or is that beneath you?”
He grumbled something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like, “Nothing that involves a bed and you beneath me is beneath me,” but she couldn’t be sure. “Only to ensure you don’t get up and start working again,” Vegeta said.
“Why were you awake, anyway?”
Silence. She heard the whoosh of the door opening to her bedroom, then it closed almost on her head after he stepped inside.
“You had a delivery,” he told her.
Bulma found herself lowered to the ground a second later, facing her bedroom in the dark with a frown. The shapes all looked to be their normal, chaotic selves. Then she saw Vegeta’s finger point towards her closet where a dressmaker’s dummy stood with a dark blue gown draped over it.
“Oh, my gala dress! I’m going to try it on right now - ”
“You absolutely are not!”
Bulma whirled around, meeting his furious gaze with her own. “I want to and I will!”
“You need to sleep!”
“I’ll sleep when I’m dead!”
Vegeta’s head jerked back, eyes wide with surprise.
“Hello?” She snapped her fingers. “Remember? Androids? We’re all doomed anyway. Let me try on a pretty dress while I still can.”
“You are not doomed.” His voice went icy-cold, sending shivers up her spine. “I am the one destined to die that day.”
She hated the reminder. Stomach twisting in miserable knots, Bulma lifted her chin. “Not if I can help it. Why do you think I want to get that robot design finished tonight?”
Vegeta crossed his arms in front of his chest, armor fully patched over his expression. “Go to bed, Bulma. I’m not leaving until you do.”
She smiled a pretty smile, tugging out some curls from her headband with a twist of her finger. “What if I want you to stay?”
He blinked, mouth twitching. “Then I’ll leave until you go to bed,” he decided.
“You’re no fun.”
“I was awake because I was trying to put on those blasted garments.” Vegeta nodded at her gown, implying that his tuxedo had been delivered as well. And that it had been a struggle.
“Oh,” Bulma said. “Well.”
“Must I strip you and tie you to the bed?”
“Yes. Definitely.”
Even in the dark she could see the shade of his face deepen. “How utterly vulgar,” he said, clearly meaning to be disapproving.
“You’re the one that said it,” Bulma laughed. “Let’s make a deal. I’ll go to bed but you have to stay with me all night.”
Vegeta waved a hand in agreement. Likely he’d had a mind to stay with her, anyway, if only to keep her horizontal. Smiling, she unzipped her jumpsuit to wriggle down her hips, stepping out of it enough to kick it in the general direction of her dirty clothes.
“Good enough,” she chirped. “Come on.”
“Woman,” he warned. “If you start this, you will not sleep at all tonight.”
“I had a nap! I’m ready to go!”
“It negates the purpose of my forcing you to bed. You may as well work on your robot.”
“Would you rather I do that?” Bulma asked, hating the squeeze of rejection in her chest. “Go back to the lab and leave you here? You sleep alone and I design your robot?”
Vegeta’s eyes drifted down her body, then back to her face. “You already undressed. It would be impractical.”
“Oh, I can go just like this.” For emphasis she plucked at the front of her tank top. “It’s warm in the lab, anyway.”
“In your undergarments - ”
“Hardly! Besides, these cover way more than swimsuit, anyway, and those are perfectly acceptable to - ”
The air was knocked out of Bulma as his shoulder drove into her gut. Not too hard, though, and she landed on the bed a second later with the striking realization that he must have flown them the fifteen feet to her bed. The look of utter consternation on Vegeta’s face - flaring nostrils, grim mouth and all - broke her into gales of laughter that he clearly didn’t appreciate.
“What’s the deal to get you to sleep?” he demanded, remaining nestled between her thighs.
“Hmm.” Bulma tapped her chin in thought, a giggle or two still waiting to come out. “I’ll think of something. But I’ll warn you, I’m a tough negotiator.”
“And I’m a prince with diplomatic experience.” A grin slowly crept over his face, more thrilling than his hands gripping her hips.
“Like blowing things up?”
“I didn’t say my experience was nonviolent.”
She laughed, grabbing him by the shoulders to drag him down for a kiss. To her surprise, he allowed it. “Here’s the deal,” she whispered. “You stay and hold me and I’ll go right to sleep like an obedient human.”
“I accept your terms.”
Bulma occasionally thought that Vegeta hated this sort of thing. The affection that bubbled naturally out of her when she felt treasured and special. Normal sorts of affection that came with a relationship. She caught him scowling sometimes when she hugged him from behind or she kissed his cheek by surprise or tangled up with him like an octopus after sex.
But he did it. That stunned her more than anything, and she cherished the weight of his arm around her waist as they settled in for a short night.
Before sleep claimed her, his voice drifted through her memory: I am the one destined to die that day. She stirred, clutching his arm harder, determined to cherish this moment all the more for the prophesied shortness of it.
His nose was in her hair, so he couldn’t see her lips form the electrifying, damning declaration I-love-you. It was given to the night where it would be kept hostage from the only ones the words could destroy.
~
“These blasted clothes!”
The door to her bedroom banged open just after the shout came. If Bulma weren’t used to it, she would have jumped and ruined the line of her lipstick she carefully applied in her bathroom mirror. Even the looming presence of Vegeta in his black suit and black mood standing impatiently in the bathroom doorway didn’t deter her from finishing the job well, smacking her lips together when she was satisfied.
“Hello to you, too,” she said silkily, leaning away from the mirror to cap the lipstick. “Want to tell me what’s bothering you at a normal volume?”
Bulma turned, smiling a dazzling smile to detract from her throat going dry at the sight. For an alien, Vegeta was well-suited to tuxedos. The crisp lines of the fabric showed off his broad shoulders, the cut of the trousers making him look taller than he was. Or had he gotten taller? Perhaps it was the shoes, all shined and spiffy.
He didn’t respond right away, and her eyes traveled back to his face when she realized they were standing in complete silence.
“You,” he said. His eyes had stayed on her body. She couldn’t blame him - her dress was stunning and made to accentuate her figure to perfection. “You…”
“I look amazing,” she finished for him. “What’s wrong with the clothes, Vegeta? You look very handsome.”
Lips pinched together, he held out three strips of cloth for her to examine. “I figured out most of the items, but these make no logical sense,” Vegeta growled.
“Ah.” Bulma took them from him. “I understand. Let’s start with the cumberband.”
“The what?”
“Take off the coat and I’ll help.”
He grumbled the whole time, but he did as she ordered. He even lifted his arms without prompting so she could wind the cumberband around his hips to fasten in the back. “What is the purpose of this?” Vegeta snarled over his shoulder, watching her every move.
“I don’t know. I’ve never researched the origins of men’s formalwear before.”
He gave a snort of derision. “And what’s that square? Why is it blue?”
Finished with her task, Bulma wandered around Vegeta to pick up the offending square. “It’s a pocket square,” she said. “It goes in your pocket.”
“Like a snot rag?”
“Well, it’s one-hundred percent silk, but hey, my family has money to spare so why not.” The blue fabric matched her dress perfectly. When Bulma had ordered their clothes she hadn’t specifically asked that they match. Was this Dad’s doing? After folding the square she tucked it into the suit jacket laying on the bathroom counter.
“It matches your dress.” Vegeta’s temper must have blown out, because his words were much much quieter than earlier.
“Yes,” Bulma said.
“Is that a human custom?”
“I suppose.”
“Does it indicate that you are mine and I am yours?”
Vegeta and his archaic language! Grabbing the bow tie, she smiled as she planted herself in front of him, ready to do her worst. “I’m guessing most people will get the idea,” she admitted, slinging the bow tie around his neck. The weight of his attentive gaze would have been disconcerting a year ago. Now, it was only cozy.
“I have wondered,” Vegeta began in a low tone while she looped the bow tie over itself. “How humans discern who is who’s. And how I might ensure that everyone knows that you are mine, even when we are not together.”
“Possessive little ape, aren’t you?”
“We Saiyans scent each other,” he continued, ignoring her remark. He didn’t find it offensive, evidently. “During coupling, the individuals lace each other with their scents and it makes a new one. It’s obvious to Saiyans when one is not available for courtship.”
“I see,” Bulma murmured. One final knot and the tie was complete. She tightened it with a tug, straightening it beneath Vegeta’s chin.
“Naturally such a thing wouldn’t work among humans, what with your limited olfactory glands. So humans prefer matching clothing?”
“Not usually. The standard practice is that each person in a relationship wears a ring.”
“A ring?” He nodded, as if approving the simplicity. “Wear one.”
“Excuse me?”
“You own rings, don’t you?”
“It’s not the same!” Bulma stepped back, crossing her arms and unsure why, in the last five seconds, her annoyance rose so quickly. Of course Vegeta wouldn’t know - why was she so offended? “The man has to give the woman a ring!”
His eyes narrowed.
“It means they’re either married or going to be married! The man wears one too after they get married.”
Vegeta’s stiff posture broke with a single blink and a sway. As if he’d been about to take a step back and caught himself just in time. At the prospect of marrying her? Why, the -
“Have you scented me?” Bulma demanded. Her best method of tamping down painful feelings in the quickest way possible: a sour attitude and a solid offense.
The method sizzled and fizzled. He didn’t answer, only dropping his gaze to his suit coat. When he reached around her to pick it up, she felt the heat of his body leaning in. It made the cool air when he pulled back all the more frigid.
Of course he hadn’t scented her. They weren’t the same race. There was never any spoken or indicated intention to stay together longer than…longer than the android ordeal. Or until Vegeta left to train somewhere else, just like everyone else always did. He wouldn’t want to bind himself to her, a human. Saiyans were proud, and he was the proudest of all. Hadn’t he said over and over again how disgusting he found female hysterics? No doubt he’d believe she’d fall into hysterics over an honest conversation that he had no lasting intentions with her. That they would part ways and never see each other again.
Without a word Bulma tugged the lapels over his chest while he stuck his arms through the sleeves. The sharp scent of his soap filled her senses in a painful, overwhelming way, and she had to sniff to keep anything leaking out that would ruin her mascara.
Of course she’d been stupid enough to fall in love, for the second time, with a man even less likely to stay with her.
“How long must we stay?” Vegeta asked roughly. His arms dropped to his side while she smoothed down his lapels one more time. The press of ten fingertips into her hips indicated that his hands hadn’t stayed limp.
“A few hours.” Bulma gnawed on her bottom lip, lipstick forgotten. She kept her eyes on his chin where she wouldn’t have to meet the scrutiny of his gaze. “Really, you don’t have to come. I won’t come home drunk again. I was miserable last time.”
“I’m going. But I’ll be thinking of peeling this dress off of you the entire time.”
His comment lightened her mood by a shade, and she was able to smile. “Keep saying things like that, and the time we have to stay will get shorter and shorter,” she said lightly, her palm resting over his heart long enough to make hers squeeze with unspoken longing. “I’ll call the car and tell them we’ll be down in five minutes.”
Vegeta pulled her tightly against him, their hips bumping. The feeling of his erection through his trousers made Bulma squawk in surprise - here? Now? Was he insane?
“Make it ten,” he said.
“And ruin all the hard work I did to make you look nice?” she sniffed. “Dream on, Vegeta.”
He grumbled but released her hips in favor of taking her hand, dragging her towards the door. The lightswitch change between moods had Bulma grabbing for the doorframe. Her weak strength didn’t slow him down.
“The sooner we get there, the sooner we can leave,” he said over his shoulder.
She tumbled over her high heels, dragging the train of her gown to rush forward. He could haul her around at Capsule Corp and she wouldn’t mind (too much) but in public? No way. “And here I thought you didn’t want to go,” Bulma teased, winding her arm through his elbow. Vegeta’s eyes glinted as he cast her a sullen look. To no surprise he didn’t deign to respond to that.
“What perfume are you wearing?” Vegeta asked abruptly. Waiting at the top of the circular driveway for the driver to bring the car around, Bulma tore her eyes away from the darkening blush of sunset to give her plus-one a puzzled look.
“The only perfume I ever wear,” she said.
“You smell different.”
She could only shrug at the approaching crunch of gravel. “Maybe you did your Saiyan scenting ritual by accident,” she suggested. Vegeta’s frown deepened.
“Then I would know why your scent has changed, wouldn’t I?” he said blithely. Tandem steps down to where the driver held the door open for them. Bulma would have liked to press the point, and the issue, a little further, but after sliding inside the car with Vegeta right after her, she decided in the silence that she’d rather not be overheard.
“There are three seats,” she told him as finagled a seatbelt over his chest. He sat in the middle seat, practically pushing her into the door.
“I don’t want you to escape.”
“Hi, Ralph,” Bulma chirped, leaning forward to put her head next to the driver, who adjusted the rear view mirror. “Whatever my date says, I promise I’m here of my own free will. He’s not kidnapping me.”
“Sure, Miss Bulma,” Ralph said.
She settled back in, shoulder-to-shoulder with Vegeta and, rarely, feeling short next to him. He had a way of looming even when their eyes were level.
“It’s just one night,” Bulma whispered in reassurance, but couldn’t discern if she was speaking to Vegeta or herself.

Cannibros part two!
@angry-trashcan and I worked together again for part two of this <3 and how Wars is handling everything that's going on, spoilers its not good <3 It's got the same warnings for part one and this time its 2.6k words
Tumblr media
The salt did little to ease War’s nerves as he watched on. The scene being branded into his memory with a hot iron. The noises of ripping flesh and bones breaking filling his ears, the smell of blood overwhelming his senses. “What is happening…”
Twilight  stood from the body, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Woulda been better if it wasn’t so cold.”
"Twi, I mean this in the kindest way possible. What the fuck was that. That was a person. now they are a pulp"
War’s expression was unmatched in that moment. What was his friend thinking? Could he even call Twilight his friend anymore after everything? No, he can’t be so quick to throw everything away. Even if there wasn’t anything left by then? “... is it always this gruesome?”
“No, we don’t always let Twi at them. Sometimes we take them back to the house.” Sky explained, finally loosing his hold on him.
“To… to our house?”
“What other house, dumbass?” Sage hissed out, turning to leave the alleyway.
“What…what do you do with them there..?” Warrior’s words were weak and stuttery as he followed.
“You can figure that one out.” Warriors took a moment. Can he? What does that mean?
“Do you sell them? Like I mean [name] mentioned ‘organ donors’ are a thing here. Is it just forced organ donoring?”
Sage’s unimpressed side-eye and Sky’s muffled laughter was telling enough that that was a wrong answer, but what would be the right one? Sage likes to cook… and he - oh, oh, OH.
“...”
“Is it the reason why… oh goddesses… is it the reason why you were so on edge when [name] found the ‘beef’..?”
Sage didn’t look over at him, “Yeah, ‘beef’ was a strong word for that.”
Warriors looked like he was going to puke, all color leaving his face at the realization. “Oh, how… how long..”
“Long enough. You’ve had it enough, seem to like it too. Always eat every last bit.”
His knees got weaker with every word, car nearly in sight thank the golden three. “Why.. why do you..?”
“Why do you think?” Twilight cut him off. “It’s easier to hide like this.”
“I wouldn’t go that far, farm boy.”
“Watch it.”
“Well even if the rancher won’t tell you the reason he likes it so much, he is right that it’s easier to hide.”
Sky’s more upbeat tone is the most unsettling thing about this, Sage seems fitting for the lack of a better word, Twilight has the wolf so it’s not out of character, but Sky? He feels so wrong.
“We don’t need to waste any energy finding somewhere to hide the corpse! So why try anything worse, this isn’t Hyrule where we could dump bodies without a thought…”
How is he getting cheerier?? “I still don’t get why Twilight just eats them right then and there its… disturbing.”
“I don’t like waitin’.” He shrugged. “And when they find the body it looks like a wolf attack, or so the news reports say. They been thinkin’ theres a wolf on the loose in the city. Got outta the zoo or somethin’.”
The car doors opened and they took their previous seats. Sage took back Twi’s seasonings, giving him a look once more for only using the salt before closing the glove box. A silence fell as Sky started the engine and pulled onto the road.
“So… if I can ask one more question…”
“You’re running out of questions.” Sage shot back.
“Sorry, but. Why was Twilight trying to kiss Sky earlier exactly…?”
The sudden jolt of Sky slamming the breaks and pulling to the side of the road shocked everyone within the car, the knight’s patience clearly having been pushed far past breaking point by that final question.
“I DON’T KNOW. I DON’T KNOW ALRIGHT? I DON’T KNOW WHY HE TRIED TO KISS ME. AND I DON'T LIKE THAT HE DID TRY. I WANT ANSWERS. WE AREN’T MOVING TILL I KNOW.”
The silence seemed to only irritate him further, with how the two that have to know something about the incident staying mute and looking to there sides to avoid answering him. Assuming that Sky won’t hold onto his promise, and assuming wrong.
“JUST. TELL. ME.”
“Do I actually getta explain myself this time?” Twilight mumbled, still looking out the window.
“What the fuck does that mean?” Sage hissed, not looking back to him.
“You wouldn’t let me talk earlier, can I now?”
“What else is there to say, Twi?! You were trying to kiss him!”
“I was tryin’ to-”
“TO KISS HIM!” Sage turned back to him, his face red.
“I WASN’T TRYIN’ TO KISS HIM!”
“CAN SOMEONE JUST ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTION?!” Sky yelled out, hushing the argument.
“I was tryin’ to fuckin’ smell your breath for alcohol! Fuck!” Twilight sat back in a huff, crossing his arms.
Sage squinted his eyes, “Convent.”
“Why would I fuckin’ kiss him?! I have someone to kiss!”
“SHUT UP. BOTH OF YOU SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.”
Again the knight’s outburst silenced the car, the impact of his first-ever swear slamming into them. After a brief moment, Sage started to laugh while Twilight had a far stare and a red face. The weight of what he just said seemed to embarrass him slightly as his face also reddened and he stuttered his next sentence.
“...please, Twilight, please just explain.”
“It’s like a sniffer dog… the wolf…”
Sky’s face morphed into one of despair as he thought over the implications of that, wanting nothing more than to leave the conversation now.
“... like a sniffer dog???”
“Yeah… like a sniffer dog. How they can sniff out drugs and alcohol on people. And find missin’ folks. I was tryin’ to see if there was alcohol on ya breath.”
Sky looked to him through the mirror, “...And was there?”
Twilight met his gaze, “No, no there wasn’t any.”
Sage laughed even louder this time. “You- you were drunk off of nothing?!”
Sky’s face turned a darked red as he put the car in drive. “Lets go home.” He mumbled a few things under his breath as he pulled onto the road.
“So you can get drunk on rootbeer again?”
“I thought it was alcoholic!”
“So clearly even thinking of alcohol can get you drunk, nice to know…”
“SAGE!”
Sky’s mild embarrassment was now full on mortification as the weight of this settled in, is he really that much of a lightweight? To get placebo drunk? Sage’s laughter didn’t make it any easier to cope with it, less with the promise of it happening again.
“... how are you all so upbeat..?”
Twilight looked over to him, “Whatcha mean by that?”
“...you” He pointed to Sky, “Just killed a man. And you,” he pointed to Twilight, “Just ate a man.” He shuddered a bit before pointing to Sage. “And you… you orchestrated it all.”
Sage looked back at him through a mirror, “And?”
“And?”
“And we did it to take care of a threat. Why would we not be happy that a threat is now dealt with?”
“...He was just a coffee shop worker…”
“He was a threat.”
“Did [name] even know what he was called?”
“... doesn’t matter. He was a threat.”
“You killed a, what, young adult you thought was a threat, when he wasn’t.”
War’s had to take a moment for that to settle within his mind, for it to really sink in. with sage judging him the whole time, waiting and watching for him to slip up or make a fatal mistake.
“Did you even know his name? If he had a family, A LIFE??”
 “Even if he did, he doesn’t anymore. It’s already done.”
“Are you saying his life didn’t matter?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying.”
Warriors sat back in shock at that. “So whos lives do matter to you? Does any life matter to you? Or could anyone be your next meal?”
Sage turned around in his seat, eyes boring into him. “My family matters. Don’t you fucking forget that soldier. And if anything happens to them. You’re next.”
Warriors swallowed, looking back out the window as they pulled into the garage.
“I wouldn’t dare to hurt any of them. Before you arrived they were MY family anyway.”
“... what was that captain? That sounded like the last wishes of a delusional bastard.”
“I… I didn’t say a thing.”
“Good.”
His fear seemed to thicken the air they - or maybe just he - were breathing, leaving him gasping and desperate to get out of the car. But like before they all had to get out in order, leaving him to last, too scared of them to try anything that could set them - set Sage on him.
“Don’t you dare tell [name] of this. Got it?”
“Sir, yes sir.”
Sage smirked at this, “Good. Let’s be going then.” He opened his car door, finally, stepping out.
Walking back up to the house was full of laughter between the three other men, the outlier quietly trailing behind. Even as Sage opened the door to the house and announced their arrival, Warriors stayed quiet, opting to go to his room as quickly as possible. Sage took note of this out of the corner of his eye, lips upturning as Wind ran into his arms.
“You won’t believe it! Twilight over here was trying to accuse you of stealing beer! Like you would ever drink that!”
Wind laughed, “Pssh, that shit’s nasty! I need some of your whiskey, old man!”
Twilight ruffled his hair, “Ya Ma’s gonna have a fit over that one!”
“Mum knows I drink twiiiii… they’re better about it than you are!”
While the small family was having a moment there was someone who watched the captains actions and knowing the basics of what they get up to decided to go and check. Granted getting him to open his door seemed to be a harder challenge than any dungeon before this. The soft sounds of whimpered crying escaping every so often, eventually getting fed up of the lack of response the door was broken into by the veteran.
“Wars. Wars you need to tell me what you’ve seen. You have proof.”
He shook his head, another sob coming from his lips as he buried his head into the pillow even deeper.
“Come on, Wars. This is important. You know something.”
Wars opened his mouth, beginning to speak, only for another cry to fall out. “I-”
Legend grabbed his shoulders, pulling him up off the bed and looking at his tear streaked face, “Wars, come on. Talk to me.”
His words couldn’t come as he tried, only more sobs meeting his broken words. “I-I’m sor-rry.”
Legend dropped his hold on his shoulders, looking down at him. “Please. Tell me what you saw.”
“I- I- ca- can’t.” Another shake ripped through his body, making him fall into himself.
The veteran’s eyes fell to the ground, “It’s okay. I’ll find another way.”
As he left the room and started to head to his own the veteran was met by Sky standing in the hallway, his figure looking more imposing than ever with the new knowledge that he had to have done something to warriors.
“You shouldn’t go digging through fresh wounds like that, you could find yourself in a bloody mess.”
“I’m not the one with blood on my hands.”
“And I’m not the one who has to prove that baseless claim.”
“You have nothing on me legend, or on any of us. You need to accept that.”
It took a moment to shake off the threat? No that doesn’t sound right - the warning sky gave him before he fled back the perceived safety of his own bedroom.
Legend took a breath, closing the door behind him. There had to be something he could find. He reached under his bed, pulling out a tattered old box. He looked back to the door before opening it slowly. He dug through it for a moment, searching for anything he could use on them.
His hands fell onto the cool of the glass, his eyes widened, pulling out the mirror. He looked into it, only seeing himself staring back. He sighed, theres no magic here. He pushed it back in, continuing to dig through the box. A shuffling noise and and a groan from behind him had him closing the box as fast as possible.
“What are you doing?” Hyrule’s sleepy tone carried to him.
“Nothing, go back to sleep, Rulie.”
“Are you looking through that box again?” He sighed.
A short tired glace from legend put a stop to the questions for a second, seeing in Rulie’s eyes that while it isn’t the end of it, he’ll get a short respite.
“You seem more bothered now than anything recently, I’d say you need the sleep more than me.”
“Rulie. Please don’t say that, I’m not the one who lost nearly every part of myself. Just rest please.”
His regret was instant after that, Rulie’s pale skin seeming to lose even more of it’s hue and his sickened look only getting worse.
“I didn’t need reminding.”
“No - No I - Look you know I didn’t mean it that way, I - Sorry.  It’s just - I’m worried about you.”
Tense barely describe the air between them, while legend’s words acted like how perhaps only a week ago iron would’ve on Hyrules own skin.
“You don’t need to be worried for me…” Rulie spoke, attempting to break the tension. “I’m holding up just fine. I’ve been through much worse.”
“No.. No you haven’t.” Legend’s words were quiet. “But I’m sure with time you’ll adjust. It just may take time…” Time we may not have.
“{Name}’s world has been hard on me, I know. But Sage is taking care of things. I trust that everything will be fine.” Legend grimaced to himself, pushing the box back into it’s place under the bed.
“Hopefully you’ll have a good day soon and we can go out. It’ll be good to get out of the house.”
“Yeah, that’d be nice.”
“Hopefully it’ll come sooner rather than later… maybe I could ask sage to …. No I can’t waste it…”
“Rulie..? Ask Sage to what?”
“Hmm? I didn’t say anything, maybe you’re so stressed that you’re hearing things.”
“No - I - I’m not…”
“Either way you should rest.”
Does Rulie know more than he’s letting on? But he’s my successor, he wouldn’t do anything like this would he? Would it even count for him? Legends questions were starting to get to the point where he had to agree with Hyrule, he has no reason to be suspicious of him. Rulie wouldn’t do that.
“Yeah - yeah maybe you’re right. Maybe I should rest.”
Sky shook his head to the closed bedroom door, turning back down the hallway. That fool needs to mind his own, before he gets himself hurt. He walked past Time’s door, giving it a once over before returning to the living room. Sage was on the couch with the kids, laughing away about something one of them said, Twilight in the kitchen pouring himself another drink.
“No, you can’t have any.” Twilight says, downing whatever was in his glass.
Sky laughed, “Trust me, I don’t want any. May try to kiss me again.” He nudged the other man before opening the fridge and reaching for a rootbeer. “I’ll try not to get drunk off of this one.”
“If you don’t let go of my fuckin’ hair I’m gonna tell mom that you’re the one who broke the hair dryer!” Wind cried out from the other room.
“You lying little shit! It was you!” Wild argued back. Sage laughed, knowing damn well he was the last to use it.

For a fanfic suggestion, how about Four getting sick as a consequence of being so small? Like overeating because they keep giving him big portions 'because he's still growing!' and getting sick from it, or from a wrong potion dosage. Maybe he's more susceptible to hypothermia or heat strokes. Just spitballing ideas! Four is my favourite but I don't see too many fanfics of him :(
Hi Anon! Hope you enjoy. Stay tuned because the next one-shot I’m posting is of Four.
Thank you for the request!🖤
If Four had to describe his fellow heroes in the way of the roles they played dynamically Sky would be the ‘Mother Cucco’ who is always brooding over the sick or injured in a way that wasn’t suffocating. Time would be that ‘Dad Friend’ or ‘Cool Uncle’ that you knew was awesome, but also knew you better listen to. Twilight was the ‘Protector’ and ‘Big Brother’ for obvious reasons and Four would never call him the group's pet due to how disrespectful that would be, but it was nice to have someone like Twi who could shift even if Four hated dark magic. Hyrule was of course the group’s ‘Doc’ and everyone had learned to listen to him or get a slap upside the head. An angry healer meant for a bad day.
There was one person in the group that Four (more so Red) had a soft spot for and that was Wild, their designated ‘Chef’. Bless that man for being able to cook! Four was going to die of starvation with the others cooking.
Wild was the last to join them and it was beyond clear that he did not trust anyone outside of Twilight and somewhat Sky, since the First Hero was the one holding the Master Sword. He was quiet, skittish, feral and had his own odd ticks that Vio liked to sort through and keep notes on, just like he did with the others, but Wild was a challenge to him.
Four made it a point to learn everyone’s written language as well as sign language, proving useful with Wild. None of the others, except Twi, could understand what Wild was signing to them. So when Four figured out the dialect and some of the sign changes, noticing that it really wasn’t too far off from his own, Wild began to open up to him.
This was all months ago and Wild was now fully talking to everyone, more laid back and he had a dynamic role that he fell into as the cook. Cooking brought a smile to Wild’s face and Red beamed at how much happier the newest member was while being able to feed everyone.
That was exactly where the problem was. Red refused to hurt Wild’s feelings when it came to the food. The other Colors would say something, but Red always won that argument. It wasn’t that he disliked Wild’s food, no, it was the amount. Wild and Hyrule were a bottomless pit for food, Time and Sky could easily eat two full servings of just about any meal while Wind and Twilight could go for thirds. Four was lucky to get through one serving! Heaven forbid the meal was heavy on rice and meat and not because it was filling.
Like any other night where they could afford to have a fire going, Wild cooked. It was a hearty meal of rice, a red meat that was cooked perfectly, seasonings and Wild even added two fried eggs with runny yolks. Damn it if Wild knew this was Four’s weakness, his favorite meal and the added eggs were the cherry on top.
Four gave a bright smile when Wild handed him his bowel filled past the brim with deliciousness, eyes flashing with a hit of red.
‘Red, don’t you do it.’
‘Shut it Blue! Did you see how happy he was? He hasn’t been able to cook in a week due to Hyrule restricting what he can do.’
‘That’s Wild’s own fault, Red.’ Green did not have the other Color’s back, choosing to side with Blue.
‘Vio, help me out here.’ Red pleaded.
Vio sighed, ‘We go through this every time. Why are we still fighting over it?’
‘Oh, thanks a lot Vi. You could have been the one that Red listened to.’ Blue snapped.
‘Can we just eat and let Red be happy? He has been looking forward to this all week.’ They could hear the mental tiredness in Green’s voice.
‘Yes!’ Red happily shouted in their shared mind.Four gave a slight wiggle where he sat, bringing a small amount of attention to him.
“Someone is happy to have Wild back to full health.” Legend snickered.
“I’m just happy Hyrule isn’t cooking. I don’t think I can handle another night of potential food poisoning.” Four hummed with the first bite.
“Hey! I can hear you!” Hyrule said from across camp, not truly mad.
“I didn’t say anything that I wouldn’t say to your face.”
When Twilight said he was full after two servings and Wind said the same after one, Four knew he was in trouble. He slowed his pace, but made it a point to finish the whole meal and pushed through the meat sweats and the bloated feeling.
Barely able to move after all the food, Four gingerly laid down on his bedroll, trying to get comfortable. He pretended to be asleep while Time asked who would be on watch, thankful that he didn’t have to be on a shift. It didn’t change the fact that he was awake in the middle of the night.
His eyes flashed open as a shooting pain like a hot knife being stabbed into his lower right abdomen erupted suddenly. Oh that wasn’t good. He placed a hand over the area, applying pressure, relieving some of the pain. Letting go of the pressure made him see little swirls of color. Curling into a ball worked for a moment, but he had to shove his fist into the spot again, have one leg out slightly and the other tucked under him to help increase the pressure.
“Four?”
‘Shit! That’s Hyrule!’ Blue hollered.
‘Shhh!! Keep it down will you? Last thing we need is to have a headache with this.’ Green snapped back.
‘Should we split?’
‘Red, no, that would just make four of us have the same issue and everyone freak out.’ Vio was trying to be calm.
“Four, hey, what’s wrong?” Hyrule asked as he knelt close by.
“N-nothing.”
“You suck at lying. Come on, let me help with whatever this is.” A hand rubbed along his back. “You are burning up and sweating through your tunic. How long have you been sick?”
“Just woke up with it. I’ll be fine.” Four sniffled, not crying.
“Is it something you ate?”
“N-no!” Four shot up into a sitting position causing all of it to be much worse.
Hyrule quirked an eyebrow. “So it was something you ate. No one else is sick though.”
Four held his breath for a moment with his eyes closed trying to will the pain away. “Please don’t tell Wild.”
“Don’t tell me what?” Damn shift change!
‘Noooo!’ Red cried out.
‘Busted, might as well spill it.’ Vio said in a non comforting way.
When Four didn’t say anything, Hyrule stepped in. “Four got sick on something he ate and didn't want help and didn’t want you to know.”
Wild squatted down beside the other two. “How about you let Hyrule help you then we can figure out what made you sick?” Wild gave a soft, but concerned smile.
‘He’s… not mad?’
Giving a sigh, Four agreed and laid back on his back so Hyrule could examine. Warm tingling magic poured from Hyrule’s hand as he searched for the problem. Four tried to stay a still as he could, but wiggled his feet around. He relaxed more when Hyrule pushed on the area that was hurting, but when he let go, Four sucked in a ragged breath.
“It’s your Appendix.” Hyrule confirmed.
Four tilted his head. “The useless organ that does nothing outside of causing issues?”
“That’s the one. Now to fix it, you need to throw up or else it will rupture.”
Four’s ears dropped alongside Wild’s, who asked, “And it was because of something he ate?” Oh no. Wild was making the look Red never wanted to see. He was blaming himself for it.
“He probably ate too much or too fast or even both.” Hyrule reached a hand out for Hyrule to take so he could stand.
“Too much? Four, you only had one serving.” Wild stood and helped the smaller hero over to an area away from the rest of camp. It was slow moving, but they made it. “Want us to stay or-?”
Four didn’t give them a choice as he held onto a tree to promptly throw up everything his appendix thought to hang onto for later. Wild pulled Four’s headband back some to hold his hair away from his face as he told Hyrule to get a red potion.
“Only haa- half of oo- one please.” The dry heaving was worse than the actual throwing up.
Stomach settled and not trying to kill him, Four made it back to his bedroll and wanted nothing more than to face-plant into it and sleep for the next day. Insead he had to face Wild… well Red needed to face Wild.
“You going to tell me the big secret that you didn’t want me to know earlier?” Wild ask as he sat in front of Four and picked at the grass, starting to weave the ends together.
Red huffed and decided to come clean of his predicament. “I didn’t want to hurt your feelings by saying I wanted less food.” Wild seemed more confused than before and now that it was said out loud, Four felt a bit silly for it.
“Why would that hurt my feelings?”
“Cooking and feeding all of us makes you happy and I thought you would think that I didn’t like your food when really it’s much more complicated than that.”
“I’m listening.”
Hyrule passed the least filled potion he had to Four, giving him a look that he better drink.
“Both of you should probably hear this since it applies to potions too. Wild, you are the only one's knee caps I won’t break for saying that I’m still growing as if I’m close to Wind’s age and that is due to you meaning it in a kind way unlike when Legend or Wars says it to pick on me. I can’t eat as much as Wind because I’m not growing anymore due to a magic I was exposed to in one of my adventures. I can’t drink as much potion due to my size and it will eventually make me sick.”
Wild was the first to break the silence with a laugh. “Four, that's all you had to say. I wouldn’t have gotten mad or been hurt by that. Concerned maybe, at least until you told me why so I knew you weren’t starving yourself.”
“Same with the healing. The last thing anyone wants is for you to overdose on potions.” Hyrule added. “I don’t know about you two, but I’m tired and going to bed.”
Four watched him get up and walk over to where Legend was sleeping and land partly on top of him. The other let out an ‘oof’ and a grumble. “Do you want company during your watch?”
Wild shook his head. “You need sleep after all that. Get some rest Four. I’ll wake you and Hyrule last.” Wild stood and was walking away when he suddenly turned back aground. “Hey Red?”
Four jumped at being called one of the Colors and Red made sure to take over, eyes becoming the same color red as the tunic he wore. “Hmm?”
“I have smaller bowls that I can fill for you instead so it doesn’t look like you aren’t eating like normal. I’m sure Sky would say something if he thought you weren’t.”
Red had never been happier. “Thank you, Wild.” Four laid back down into his roll with a new found appreciation for his companions.
‘See, that wasn’t so difficult.’ Green whispered.
‘Shh, don’t rub it in.’

Whumptober day 6, also a continuation of yesterday's fic! Don't necessarily have to read it for this one, but it'd make more sense.
Wind feels bad. The others help him with his guilt.
732 words
No warnings, let me know if anyone things there should be anything!
~~~~
Wind sits in silence, staring at the fire numbly.
“Sailor?” Twi says quietly. “You doing ok? Want another potion?”
The teenager shakes his head silently.
“Can you… eat something for me?”
“Not hungry.”
“Will you try anyway?” Twi asks gently, but Wind shakes his head.
“It wasn’t your fault, Wind.” Sky says softly, slowly sitting next to Wind.
Wind’s eyes well up.
Then the kid is sinking into Sky, shoulders shaking.
“I couldn’t even move.” Wind chokes.
“You couldn’t have done anything.” Sky says gently, rubbing the sailor’s back.
“I just had to watch. I couldn’t even do anything. I couldn’t even move. He went with her because of me. I wasn’t strong enough.” Wind cries.
“No, Sailor, it’s not that, he went with her because he didn’t want you to get hurt.”
“I wasn’t strong enough to beat her.” Wind sobs.
“Shh… shh… it’s not your fault. It wasn’t your fault. Wars chose to do what he did for you, Sailor. Not because you’re weak, but because he cares about you.”
Sky’s hand brushes through Wind’s hair, rubbing his back, talking softly as Wind cries.
“She has this magic- and we were taken by surprise- and- and- it should’ve been me- it should’ve been me, not him, I should’ve-”
“Shh…” Sky whispers, wrapping his sailcloth around the teenager.
He joins the two by the fire, putting a hand on Wind’s shoulder and brushing his pink hair out of his face.
The sailor looks up at him, sniffling weakly.
“Has Wars ever told you about Cia?” He asks quietly. Gets a shake of the head.
He wasn’t supposed to know, but he was on watch one night when Wars had snapped awake and slipped right into a panic attack.
And his friend has just broken down afterwards and told him everything.
“She’s powerful. Very powerful. He almost died fighting her- a few times, not even just once. She’s a crazy powerful sorcerer- so powerful that Ganon corrupted her and brought her to his side. Ganon himself wanted her on his side, Wind. Wars is scared shitless by her- he just wanted to protect you. Make sure you didn’t get hurt any more. That’s why he went with her. Not because you aren’t strong, but because she is. Wars knows this. And Wars wanted to give you the best chance you had of defeating her. You understand me?”
Wind nods slowly.
Sniffles again.
“And you’re helping him the best you can like this. Finding us, healing up, and so we can all go find him together and bust him out. Because if you’d gone after them like that, with a concussion and broken arm, you’d have less chance of defeating her, right? But with eight of us, we have a much better chance. You did the right thing. I know it was hard, but the easy thing isn’t always the right thing. In fact, it rarely is.”
Wind nods again, slowly wiping his eyes. “Thanks, Legend.” The teenager sniffles.
“Anytime, kid. Now eat something- goddess knows you could stand to grow a little more.” He can’t help but to snark a little bit after the display of care he’d shown.
Wind only gives a weak laugh. “I’m almost taller than you.”
“Almost doesn’t mean you are.” He taunts, happy to see the kid smile.
“I’m taller than Four!”
“Saying you’re taller than Four is like saying you’re taller than a block of cheese- it’s not impressive. Everyone should be.”
“Hey.” Four mutters, glancing over at them. But he’s smiling.
And so is Wind.
The sailor takes a deep breath, wiping his eyes again and nodding. “We’re gonna get him back.” He smiles. “You know it.” “I have dibs on kicking her ass, though.”
Twi laughs from beside them, shaking his head. “You’ll have to get in line for that one, sailor. I’ll bet Wars wants the first kick.”
Wind takes another deep breath, smiling. “But I want the second.” Laughter fills the quiet night, and Wind stands and slowly gets ready to turn in for the night.
Gives them each a hug around the cast on his arm, even letting Twi ruffle his hair.
“Sleep well, Sailor.” He says quietly when Wind’s arms wrap around him, and he gets a nod into his shoulder.
“G’night, Legend.” Wind says softly.
A few minutes later, when he back at the sailor, he’s already fast asleep.
Late night swim
---<3---<3---<3---<3---
So I've been thinking of writing a fanfic since yesterday, and I need to get rid of that urge. So here is this absolute abomination.
And don't even think about asking why I wrote this absolutely broken mess.
I made this because I was feeling horny for some reason
Also, please check out the official @linkeduniverse blog so you can understand this better. And it's really good!
Enough yapping.
Now let's start!
——————————————————————
Notes: Skinny dipping(iykyk) / friends(?) To lovers(??) / mild NSFW / no use of the term (Y/N) / Non-binary reader / reader is taller
---------
It's been a long night for the Chain, constantly walking and barely taking breaks while traveling through Twilight's Hyrule, but you were lucky to not run into any monsters.
Everyone has settled down in a small cave, just in case it would start to rain. Wild was handing out some bowls of freshly cooked stew with wild greens that Twi had picked for him to cook. Everyone was eating their food, either talking to each other or just minding their own business.
Then there was Legend, sitting all the way outside of their small housing. He had already finished his food and had just been sitting there. He seems like usual, but you could sense that he was feeling lonely, so you quickly ate the rest of your food and shoved the empty bowl into the nearest Links hand, which was Wind in that case. Wind and Four just looked at you with a question mark on their faces before putting your bowl down and getting back into theor own conversation.
You and Legend have never really talked to each other. He always seemed to avoid you in some way, but you decided to give it a try. You made your way over to Legend with soft steps as he glanced over at you as you were a few meters away from him. It seems like he sensed your presence. You try to say something, but no words would come out, so you stand there awkwardly as he tries to ignore you. After a while, you sigh and hesitantly sit down next to him. He soon speaks up in his usual grumpy voice.
You thought he would probably start the conversation with something like: "Why are you here?" Or "Are you here to annoy me once again?", but no. You two just sat there in an awkward silence.
You take a deep breath before attempting to break the ice that has formed between the two of you.
"... So... how are you?"
Gosh. That was probably the worst thing you've ever said, and you've never been good at starting conversations, but you've never thought you would be this bad.
He gives you a questioning glare before looking out into the distance again.
"I'm fine, I guess." He answers hesitantly and glances at you again. It seems like he doesn't completely hate you, which makes you feel just a bit better.
"Do you want to do something together, maybe? We still have plenty of time." You suggest with a hopeful smile and look over to him. You can see him think for a moment before facing you.
"... Fine. What do you have in mind?"
Finally. He was finally starting to warm up to you, which gave you a nice warm feeling in your body. But now you had to think of something to do since you didn't think you would get this far.
"... And?" He asks after a moment of more silence. You forgot to answer while you were lost in your thoughts.
"Ah, uhm... how about..."
You start to look around, desperately looking for something to do. You didn't want to lose the progress you've made with him, even if its just a minor coversation.
You spot a lake behind the trees and get an idea, but before thinking first, you blurt out something that no one would've expected.
"How about Skinny dipping?"
What the hell did was that!?!? You didn't think you would be able to fall even deeper into this hell hole!
Legend froze on the spot, the only thing heating up being his soft cheeks, which are now tinted a soft red.
You two stare at each other awkwardly for a moment, both stunned by what has just been said seconds ago.
"I-I mean–"
I stutter before I look away out of pure embarrassment. Legend just stares at you in disbelief, not knowing what to say. He turns away and takes a deep breath.
"We... we can go down to the lake..."
He mumbles as he tries to ignore what just happened. You look back at him in surprise, but start to form a soft smile on your face.
"That sounds good. Let's go."
You suggested and stood up from the dry grass before hedids the same. You started to lead the way as you two fall silent yet again.
The two of you soon arrive at the lake you spotted earlier. It was rather small, but looked beautiful with the blooming lilipads floating at the edges of the lake.
You beam a smile as you eagerly run towards the lake with Legend in tow.
"Hey! What are you doing?"
He asked out of confusion as he saw you in front of the lake, taking off your footwear and rolling up both of the pant legs, making his cheeks flush just a little.
"I'm not gonna go to a lake just to sit there and do nothing!" You respond happily, feeling some new energy arrive before you walk into the cold water. It felt nice to finally let your feet breathe after hours and hours of walking. You turn around and look over at Legend.
"Come on! I didn't bring you here for nothing!" It seems like the refreshing water has boosted your spirits.
Legend slowly starts to approach you and gets as close as he can get without getting his shoes wet.
"Theres nothing in there, right?"
He asks cautiously as he eyes you from top to bottom, wondering how you can enjoy yourself this much because of some lake water.
"Im pretty sure its safe. Come on!" You wave off his concern quickly and look away awkwardly before you add "And also.. what I said earlier... I didn't actually mean that. I just spoke before thinking..."
You state in a more quiet tone and look back at him, still feeling embarrassed.
You hear him sigh before speaking firmly.
"It was quite the surprise, but it wasn't the end of the world, you know."
He speaks with his teasing yet pleasant undertone, giving you this strange but also somewhat comforting feeling all over again. It felt like your stomach was doing cartwheels, but you can't quite put your finger on it.
While zoning out with your own thoughts, you didn't seem to notice him joining you in the water, now standing next to you with the water almost reaching his knees.
You snap your head in his direction after noticing him. The close proximity sends both of you good shivers down your spine. You were only standing next to each other, yet it felt like you two were sharing a blanket this whole time.
Legend comes back to his senses first and clears his throat, making you snap back to reality.
"So? What now?" The Link next to you asks with one of his eyebrows slightly raised, his hip cocked out to the side in his usual manner.
"Uhm... I don't want to make this situation even weirder, but... How about we swim for a little?"
"In our clothes?"
His question sets you back a little. You clearly did not think this through.
"Uhm... Your choice..." You blurted out, scared what his reaction might be.
You nervously looked back at his face and noticd the cormer of his lips quiver, holding back his signature smirk. You knew that this meant that something was about to happen that would have a great impact on the both of you.
But before you knew it, he had walked back to the shore, starting to strip down all of his clothes while his back was facing you. He was definitely doing this on purpose, but you couldn't budge. It was like you're in a trance, hypnotized by his slim but oh so gorgeous body. You let your gaze travel all over his body, the nerves in your hands tingling as if you were touching his oh so delicate but well trained body. It was starting to feel arousing just by watching him.
After a few minutes of silence with the longing feeling of being near him growing, he turns around and faces you. You look up at his face, just his face. Nothing else. It took all of your strength to keep eye contact. You didn't want to look like a complete pervert.
You gulp before making your way to the shore, your gaze purely focused on the wet soil beneath your feet. You can feel Legend's seductive gaze burning into you with every step you take.
You slowly start to take off your own clothes. Not even the demon king himself in all his glory could get you to look at him.
After just a few minutes, you feel the cold air hitting every part of your now exposed body.
You hesitantly turn to face Legend, trying my hardest not to look. You can see Legend doing the same. His face was bright red with the tips of his pointy ears a rosy pink as he was trying his best not to look down.
You decide to take a deep breath before making the first step, which means slowly walking into the water. You've already gone as far as undressing right next to each other, so there's no turning back now. This shouldn't be to hard, right?
Legend soon follows you, admiring your form from behind, not being able to keep his eyes off of you, especially your arse he's definetly an ass man, even though he really doesn't want to seem like a complete asshole haha get it?
Soon enough, both of your bodies are submerged in the water, giving you that relaxing feeling yet again, but you still find yourself being very cautious of what you're doing. You don't want to embarrass yourself in front of him again, do you?
You smile a little as you look at him, trying to make this situation less awkward. To your surprise, he flashes back a small smile that made your heart melt, even in the chilling cold water.
"... Is this too weird?"
You ask as you try to start a conversation in this dead silence.
"... It's good."
"Good? Really?"
"Yeah."
You were surprised at how calm Legend actually was in this situation. You didn't even think that he would ever like Skinny dipping with someone. It was quite the experience.
The two of you eventually got into a nice and lively conversation. It was nice talking to Legend like this, seeing his adorable and slightly crooked smile, the way he holds himself when standing, and so much more. It seemed like Legend was moving closer and closer to you while the conversation was still going.
After some time, he was standing right in front of you, his perfect body right before your very eyes, invading your personal space bubble, but you didn't care as long as it's him.
The conversation suddenly stops as both of you look into each other eyes, just zoning out as the two of you stare at each other. It felt like all the other sounds were being drowned out, only hearing each others breathing.
You were so hypnotized by each other, leaning closer... and closer... and closer–
Someone suddenly yelled out to the both of you, which made you and Legend look up, only to see Twilight calling you and Legend from near the shore with his lively southern accent.
"Come on ya' two love birds! Enough bein' horny and get to camp! Dinners ready!"
Twilight yells out and chuckles a little. He always knew that there was something going to happen between you two just by seeing how you would look at each other without ever even having a proper conversation.
Both of you look away out of embarrassment until Twilight dissappears into the woods again. You turn back to Legend and get all your courage together before giving him a peck on his cheek before scurrying out of the water, like it's boiling hot.
Legend watches you run out of the water, his dominant hand resting on his still warm cheek from your kiss, compeltely stunned.
He quickly ran after you after coming back to his senses but still tries not to look like he already misses your attention.
The both of you quickly throw your clothes on and hurry back to the others.
Both of you barely talked while on your way back. Just before exiting the woods to reach the small camp the Chain has made, Legend unexpectedly turns to you and returns the favor, kissing you on the cheek before running to his sleeping bag with his now iconic red face.
All of the other Links stare at him and then you with a cocky smirk. Looks like the wolf boy snitched on the both of you.
I'm finally done! And all in one day! My first fanfiction I've ever written, and that with my favorite character too! 🥳🥳🥳
And if you're reading this, please don't ask how I came up with this. I have not a clue what horny demon possessed me to make this.
I hope this wasn't too cringe to read. Have a good day/night! <3
How good each link is at cooking:
Time - good end result, but he is incredibly clumsy will always spill or knock over something. Sometimes it's just a quick clean up and other times it's an entire jar of mixed seasoning directly into the food or the food itself .
Wild -the obvious one. The one who carries all the food and cooks most of it because he is the god of cooking. Not much else to say
Wind- he is 14 so he's trying to learn. He needs a recipe and some kind of timer to get anywhere with it. You tell him to make something and he has to write it down or else he forgets some of the ingredients or the cooking time or something .
Legend - cannot cook over a campfire well. Not too say he can't Cook though. He is an excellent baker when he's in a proper kitchen.
Four - much like wind they need a recipe. If you tell Four to cook but don't give them a recipe the food will end up burnt because they took to long trying to decide (argue about) the next step. Individualy the colours are each decent on their own (when not trying to backseat chef eachother)
Twilight - this man can cook soup and make a decent ploughman's style lunch or sandwich out of leftovers. but past that you won't get more than burnt under seasoned meat.
Sky - he mainly makes a really good pumpkin soup but the academy taught him how to make other mostly pumpkin based things to. He cooks better in a kitchen and tends to cook the same thing over and over.
Hyrule - he cannot cook. In His world there isn't much to cook and having a fire attracts monsters. Wild is trying to teach him a bit and he's allowed near the cooking pot to chop vegetables
Wars - never learned. Left home at 16 and lived of military canteen food after that. He makes really good sandwiches with Twi when there's leftovers for lunch
----------------Bonus ----------------
Ravio - the same as legend but with cooking instead of baking. The pair of them have matching aprons as well
Shadow - butts into the colours cooking mostly just to steal ingredients and eat them raw.
Malon - she could rival Wild . Might be better than Wild sometimes. They always learn something off eachother when they cook together.
Spirit (if you want to count him)- he wraps sandwiches in tinfoil and puts them next to or on top of the coal burner in his train. It works pretty good for making toasties. He's another one for the sandwich gang .Refers to all food as scran.
I got sucked into playing Oxygen Not Included again and now it’s living rent free in my brain like the boys. Enjoy these extremely specific headcanons on them playing base building/resource management/colony sim games.
Sky - He plays like a normal person. Does his best to make his base thrive but makes all the beginner mistakes. His second attempt is way way better but nothing crazy. Never gets too deep into the mechanics. Only plays for a few hours and eventually stops because someone starts backseat playing.
Wild - Chaos. His base is somehow drowning, on fire, in the middle of a drought and freezing. All at once. Literally nothing is working and his little guys are all dying to death. His second attempt is not any better. Nor is his third. He’s not good at micromanaging and constantly tries to build things that are way too big and wayyyy too resource heavy and it ends up killing him. He was super into building a really cool hot tub/massage room and neglected to make sure his guys have oxygen. But he’s having fun so it’s all good
Champion - Is on top of everything. Reads the entire in-game encyclopedia before he even starts the game so he knows everything he needs to. His base is very spartan but at least nothings on fire. Enjoys the challenge of planning ahead and creative problem solving.
Twilight - Gets way too invested in the little creatures. Creates a whole big ranch and makes the place really, really nice for his pets. His people are vegan and he lets his base starve to death because he can’t bring himself to eat his animals. But also mourns the loss of every one of his people. It’s a heartbreaking game for Twilight. He prefers games when he can pet the animals, not eat them.
Warriors - Base building isn’t his preferred genre but he gives it a try anyway. Aesthetics before anything is his playstyle. His base works well enough but he does surrender some efficiency to make it pretty. Dresses up all his little guys and gives them snazzy clothes. But he loses interest pretty fast and goes to bother Sky.
Hyrule - His base is a mess of hallways and ladders. No real central area because he just want to expand and see what’s out there. Is a real explorer. He ends up accidentally opening up his base to the cold vacuum of space and kills everyone.
Legend - Hates that he’s constantly running out of resources. If it’s not air then it’s water, and if it’s not water it’s food, and if it’s not food it’s space, and if it’s not space it’s fucking air again! He curses up a storm every time something goes wrong. Which is all the time.
Four - Spreadsheets. Lots and lots of spreadsheets. Sixty hours in and his base is ten miles long with a ridiculously convoluted yet effective HVAC system that abuses every game mechanic to be self sustaining. Runs on things like giving his base contaminated food to give them food poisoning to make them vomit so he can refine that vomit back into clean water to offset the moisture entropy. A monster of efficiency. Four loves building games where there are calculable data sets and realistic physics. Can and will play this game forever is no one stops him.
Wind - He streams it and names his colony members after viewers. Uses console commands to do crazy things like spawn in 100 colonists and summons meteor showers to spice things up. He’s pretty decent and he actually learns to to use the convoluted automation mechanics. Also mods. Lots and lots of mods.
Time - His base dies immediately. This old man never got more advanced than Pong and so when he is confronted with a game in which the density and weight of different gasses is important he can’t handle it. He accidentally digs down and his whole colony suffocates on carbon dioxide within 5 minutes. He puts the game down and never plays again.
Dark - Only plays for a bit before he stops. Even though it’s just simulation he doesn’t enjoy the strange sense of claustrophobia it gives him. He’ll happily watch Twi play it though.
Shadow - He logs into Fours game and disconnects one (1) wire somewhere in the base.
So if in a Wing AU, Wild lost and replaced a wing instead of an arm, how do you think he'd cope? I love reading stuff about the boys dealing with disability or injury and some totk headcanons are always a fun time. The biggest struggle when building a flight machine in game is not overbalancing one side in weight. So I'd like to think he'd either have to wear weighted gear to rebalance his body or relearn where his center of gravity is.
Also related but I'd love to see how you think your version of the boys would help him out if they were around during the recovery period.
I see what you mean about the balance in the game, and weighted gear is a great idea! I was going to write a little drabble on my thoughts, buuut it's kind of spiraling longer so I figured I'd answer this instead of making you keep waiting 😅
Changing out his arm for a wing has been interesting to think about! If the design of the new wing matched the arm, then it would have a fair amount of metal holding the "feathers" together. So, new wing would be heavier and probably unbalancing in flight. He can wear a harness to help, but that puts the weight on the chest and not on his wing where he needs it. If only the rito could help give pointers (evil laugh at somehow matching this to current plot).
The arm doesn't seem to bother Link in the game, although one of the idle animations is him looking at it. It functions generally how a wing should, but there's still something a little "off" about it. I'm actually still thinking about how that would crop up.
As for the boys...if the wing was replaced and he was dumped immediately back to them, he'd probably be doing a bit better.
He needs support and understanding, and who better than others with wings?
Time would be in a tizzy because he's big keeping the group safe. He'd blame himself even though he couldn't do anything. Twilight would hover a lot, worried about Wild but also unwilling to push too close and make Wild nervous. He might end up kind of annoying and Wild would probably tell him to either come close or stay away, just pick one, Twi.
Warriors is used to injuries from his time in battle, but it being someone in the flock pushes him off kilter. He's still a loner bird so he doesn't hang around like Twi and Time. Instead, he helps Four.
Four's normal chatter vanishes and he shifts all his focus to coming up with a gear to help Wild fly normally again. Despite his normal nature, this is too important to give anything but his full attention. Warriors help is a surprise--they don't spend a lot of one on one time together--but he has good advice.
Sky sticks to Wind, who's clingier than normal. Both of them insist it doesn't matter what they eat (they really prefer seafood) because Wild shouldn't need to worry about cooking. Sky's got a bad habit of stealing other's food, but even that rarely happens now, and never to Wild. Wind's worry means he doesn't put as much time to grooming his feathers as he should, so Sky often takes over.
Legend and Hyrule are the closest to Wild, so it hits them the hardest. Legend gets especially snappy with the others when they talk about how to help Wild. His snarl could give Twilight a run for his money. While the vet may be the resident grouch, he's still pretty open with physical affection. Now, it's all dumped on Wild, who appreciates the gesture but gets a bit ovewhelmed.
Where Legend is proverbially running others off, Hyrule is doing his best impression of an octorok and clinging. Literally; he's almost always in physical contact with Wild, generally commandeering an arm or hand to hold.
He's a little less smothering than Legend, so he's a little easier to deal with, but Wild is rolling his eyes after 24 hours. He points out that his wing still works and he's not dead, which only makes Hyrule cry.
At this point, Legend is so puffed and worked up that Wind comments they should roll him down a hill to see if it will flatten his feathers. Legend is left speechless, but the others laugh and some tension is broken.
Longer term, I'm sure they'd all take turns working with him to help him rebalance, deal with the emotions, etc, but I'd have to think on that further or do research.
Thanks for the wonderful question and I'll tag you when I post the first drabble!
Tavern Conversation (4/4)
Part 1 Family Reunion
Part 2 Truths Within
Part 3 Refugee Meetings
Part 4 Doctor’s Memories
Tumblr media
They didn’t go far. Madivh lead the way into the city, and upon arriving at the destination, he informed the waitress it was only the two of them, and then they were lead to their seats on the balcony above; it was a dwarven tavern with dwarven food.
Nairus kept his frown the entire way, not seeming to be able to relax. He wasn’t sure why, but he accepted it for now as a thing he could not fix at the moment.
Upon taking their seats, Madivh took off his hat and set it on the chair beside him, giving Nairus a wide smile and giving him a chance to get a good look at Madivh’s face. There was something off about him; it wasn’t matching the face that Nairus mind had crafted. Had it been so long since he had last seen the man?
It must be.
“You still refuse to drink?” Madivh said as the woman left with his order.
Nairus stiffened then reminded himself this man did in fact know him. “Yes. Perhaps–”
Madivh continued, “Do you remember why?”
Nairus blinked as he tipped his head oddly in his confusion. “What do you mean?”
“Trying to gauge how much you’ve forgotten. So, do you remember why you don’t drink?”
Nairus shook his head. “Just something I’ve never enjoyed.”
“Or being around drunk people?”
Irritation gritted at Nairu’s throat as he said, “How long have we known each other?”
Madivh quirked a grin. “Well enough, it's been a while. I’m actually glad to see you in better spirits.”
Naiurs stared thoughtfully. The warmth in the man’s voice was perhaps the most genuine emotion he had seen thus far. After a moment more, Nairus leaned back into his chair and took a deep breath. But he couldn’t find any words to say, and so he sat there, letting his eyes drift and his mind wander. Wonder if this really was a good idea or not.
Madivh said nothing in that silence, and so they seemed to be at ease with each other's presence until the waitress came back with Madivh’s glass of water and a meaty sandwich. The man’s smile was wide and his eyes glowed hungrily even as he thanked the woman.
Nairus had ordered nothing and was content in that. Still, the way Madivh acted as he looked over his sandwich, Nairus gave pause in the behavior before letting his gaze take in a more calculated look.
His body was thin, muscles easy to see, and for his height and the way his clothes fit they seemed strangely looser than they should be in comparison to shoulder width and waist.
Starvation? No. His eyes trailed to the hidden hat. Living on what is necessary. Not a lot of money. Not eating a proper diet.
Nairus sighed. “If you want to order food to go, I can pay for it as well.”
Madivh looked up from his sandwich that he was three bites in. Nairus could see the consideration being weighed heavily towards the acceptance of the offer.
Madivh smiled, laughed lightly, and said, “Military pay isn’t that great.” He took another bite, ate it, and added. “Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of talks I’m sure. So,” he took a drink. “What bothers you most that you felt compelled to approach me?”
Nairus eyes drifted, then rose once more. “Savian and Neia.”
His companion's eyes narrowed slightly. “Of course,” he chuckled. “A couple of young adults,” he phrased lightly. “I don’t know much of your history after the last time I saw you, but you were watching over them.”
Madivh took a bite of his sandwich, and, when he didn’t continue, Nairus asked. “What do you mean watching?”
Madivh shrugged. “In the realm of too much too quickly I say.” He sighed. “But what I’m really curious about is, why do you remember me, but not them?”
Nairus blinked, then scowled. “That’s why we are talking.”
Taken aback, Madivh’s lips quirked just the lightest with an amused grin that he was keeping well in check. He raised his hands. “Easy, easy.” Madivh smiled now. “I’m actually being sincere. You should have a better connection to the twi-two than to me. And honestly, we haven’t seen each other in well over a decade.” Nairus stared at him when it was clear Madivh wanted him to speak. He refused, and for that, his companion frowned and continued. “Which is a long time for us mere humans. So, you can see why I’m curious why you remember me well enough to call forth a few things, but with Neia and Savian, you can’t even picture a face.”
“How would you know that?”
“Because you wouldn’t be getting mad at me if you could.” He sighed resting his hand on his cheek. “Am I right?”
Nairus felt a terrible pull to not answer him. “Yes.”
A silence crept between them, hardly an easy one, but his companion seemed to not care or notice. He stared, waiting, in a patient way that was familiar and yet, it seemed odd coming from him. He’s calm. Shouldn’t he be more..
Images flickered in his mind, quick but clear. Images of the man, but with less freckles and a sturdier form; it was the same backdrop of wooden walls, incense filled candles and lighting, beer and food around with chatter about.
Nairus looked away, closing his eyes at the memories, and realizing only then he had leaned forward. Nairus relaxed back into the chair. “So you aren’t going to tell me anymore about these two?”
“At the moment?” He paused, clearly for dramatic effect. “No.”
Nairus began standing up, and as he did, pulled out coins from his purse.
Madivh scoffed. “Seriously, that’s all you wanted to know about was them two?” Nairus set the coins down on the table and took a step away. “Clearly they matter to you,” Madivh continued, stressing the words sharply, “I think there is another reason why you aren’t remembering, so If you want my answers I’d like to know better what happened to you.” Nairus froze, his eyes drifting to Madivh.
The man motioned back to the seat. “Sit”
Nairus did not take a seat. “Knowing about me has nothing to do with what I want to know.”
“You're stubborn and like to push yourself to the edge and take dangerous risks if you believe it will help the cause you're gaining for. Trust me, will you. You said that much before. Perhaps there’s a reason you don’t want to remember, and if I can figure that out, I can tell you that not knowing them will be better for you.”
“I doubt that.”
Madivh smiled. “I’m sort of glad to hear you say that honestly, but,” his smile faded. “If I am somewhat right, why would you not want to remember something that you deem so important now? Isn’t that curious.”
Nairus looked away, finding the walls and the floor and the lack of decorations on both ends to be more interesting. This was a waste of time, but where else did he have to look? He could ask his sister, the thought occurred to him more than once in the last few days but there was a hurt at the memories of knowing his family had been lying to him. If they were so important, as the man had stated, why would he want to forget them? Was there something else he was missing? Would it be better to forget about them and move on? Maybe his sister didn’t have the full story, and his father did.
 Nairus took his seat, eyes closed in frustration. “To summarize our new conversation, assuming on what I tell you, you’ll decide if you should tell me what I want to know or not?”
“About those two, yes. About other things, we can explore that avenue, such as, why do you find me so irritating despite you having little to no memories of any prior interaction with me?”
Nairus scowled. “I’m assuming because of your pompous nature.”
Madivh’s eyes were bright with laughter. “Honestly, I’m trying to be civil. Really. I just do things differently compared to your straight and bluntness.” He smiled. “So, tell me what happened?” He asked more softly.
Nairus shook his head, but eventually, he took a deep sigh. “I suppose we start where I last remember. I partook in a ritual…”
Madivh listened intently as Nairus went over his time with his family and how they began changing bits and pieces of his history now knowing that most of it was false. Nairus could remember that before the ritual he had not been living with his family or working with the druids, he had been doing something else, but could not remember what.
 “And before that?”
 He knew he had been working with a group in stormwind.
“And before that?”
There was a long pause, having not gone back so far in his memories before, but they strangely came back easily and smoothly and he remembered more than he cared for and all had been in the time frame with Madivh in Northrend.
He remembered why he didn’t like drinking or like to be around drunks. Madivh apologized profusely, and seemed honestly relieved he could remember certain parts, but when asked to go back forward, the memories began to grow fuzzy, however details began to connect. He could remember more of Mey and more of his own emotions and how they had worked together, how he had grown distant from them both, and decided to figure out his own path after a violent falling out.
“You don’t remember anything after that though?” Madivh had cleaned his plate and had finished off his drink.
Nairus nodded. “I suppose this has been helpful. Are you sure you weren’t a doctor beforehand?” A small smile brushed at Nairus lips that grew even more amused as Madivh processed the fact he had just teased him.
Eventually Madivh snorted and laughed. “None of this bothers you now though?”
Nairus gave a shrug. “I remember, yes, but, they feel like a different time. If that makes any sense.”
Madivh nodded. “Yeah, it does.” He said, interweaving his fingers together. “So despite this ritual and your family weaving a story to keep you from goi…going back to where they found you, how did you end up figuring something was wrong?”
Nairus eyes narrowed lightly. “What do you mean?”
Madivh grinned slightly in return. “I mean if Mey showed up your family would not have been happy to see her.” Nairus question of why crossed his lips but Madivh shook his head. “Can’t tell you why. Just take it as fact for now. So when did you start figuring it out?”
“Is it relevant?”
“Might be.”
They sat staring at each other in silence for a moment. The roar of the taverns was beginning to die down. The heaviness of bodies disappearing, switching to a lighter, foreboding feeling in the air.
Nairus sighed. “During the wars in Kul’tiras. I was sent out there, and….I’m not sure what sparked it, but the feeling of something was wrong had been growing for some time and now that the people watching me were more concerned about the war, I realized how little freedom I was actually getting.” He said as memories came back. Still the feelings ravaged him. Something forgotten. Something Important. That had been the only focus in those days. He needed to return. “So I used the cover of an ambush attack and ran off, it took some time until they realized I hadn’t died, and it gave me plenty of room to hide my tracks. From that point, it was the start of exploring my thoughts and feelings, which lead me to Stormwind. Eventually Mey and I met up again and then she brought Synric and then…”
The memories of the night came fluttering back in tense waves that made his heart race, his mind ceased despite the little nudge that he knew not to dwell, telling him to move forward to not relive the memory to be detached…
But he could see the man and the sword and feel…
“Then you were attacked, what happened after that.” Madivh’s easy voice drew him back and for a long moment Nairus only focused on the man’s face and the understanding expression. Patience.
Nairus nodded slowly. “...Once I awoke, memories began coming in about Mey and how I had hurt her in some way, and what she spoke was the truth in more matters than I could understand at the time. I remembered the ritual and the magic, the corruption, and...” He motioned towards Madivh with a twirl of his hands. “So what's your conclusion?”
Madivh hummed thoughtfully at the question. “Just one question,” he said. “I know the memory is painful but, do you not remember who attacked you?”
Nairus' eyes narrowed. Of course he did, he remembered the name that popped into his head at the time. He remembered the words the man had said to him in that familiarity that he knew Nairus. They had known each other. Yet, the memories surrounding that memory. “What relation does that have to do to bringing up memories like that?”
Madivh’s smile tipped cautiously. “Because, if you were stabbed by the man I’m assuming you were, it would make sense why you are suddenly remembering things and your corruption gone.”
Nairus huffed. “A magic expert now?”
“Just a bit of trial and error.” He grinned.
Nairus sighed. “You think that me nearly dying had something to do to affect the corruption?”
“More like the sword that was stabbed into your gut was more enchanted than you think.”
Nairus paused on that and then looked away; the tavern had grown eerily quiet and the only sounds of voices had been their own for sometime.
Madivh stretched and took a deep breath. “I should probably head out,” he said. Nairus gave him a sharp look and opened his mouth to speak when Madivh shook his head. “Listen, I got the information I need. Let me process it, and we can meet up, lets say, tomorrow night?”
Nairus sighed. “Here, again?”
Madivh nodded, grinning madly. “I appreciate it. See you then.” he said, grabbing his hat, setting it on his head, and with a short wave began to make his way down the stairs and was quick to be out the door.
Nairus watched and shook his head, letting his fingers rub at his eyes as he let his neck fall against the chair.
This was a bad idea, but it was his only idea, and…
Nairus opened his eyes, taking in the ceiling above.
And it felt good to tell someone everything.
A new Start
Twilight belongs to @/ TwilightSage 12 on Wattpad
Aurora Hikari belongs to me
Warning: child abuse, cannibalism, rape
—————
It has been a while since Twilight Tsubaki was saved from her Yakuza family. It was really traumatizing of what they forced her to do.
Twilight was forced to kill people and had to watch of how her 'parents' killed them if she didn't want to.
A creature that they made a deal with would even EAT those people that they have killed. It was truly disgusting.
One day that creature took it way to far. He actually raped Twilight because he had caught her interest. It was a living nightmare.
Twilight then had enough and had ran away in the middle of the night and had bumped into the pro hero Lumina. Aurora could easily see that Twilight had troubles at home due her shivering way to much.
Aurora immidiatly caught Twilight when she collasped. She brought her to the hero agency in an instant.
"Miss Lumina, why do you have a kid with you?" Best Jeanist said.
"No need to explain. Call UA and tell them to bring Recovery Girl here!"
No one had to be told twice when they saw in what state Twilight was in.
From that day, the goverment has decided to put Twilight under the care of Lumina and Hawks.
Lumina wasn't really sure. But she agreed. Hawks did to after a while. They didn't really know anything about parenting but they did their best.
Izuku was the first one to befriend her. At first, Twilight didn't say much,  but after a while she slowly started to talk to him. That made Izuku happy.
"Twilight, are you hungry? " Aurora said to her.
"No" is all what Twilight said. She still needs to get used to having lovely parents and that people are asking her nice things and not forcing her to do anything.
"Alright, tell me when you are ok?" Aurora added before leaving Twilight her room.
After a few days, Twilight opened up more to her friends. They let Twilight meet the others from class 1-A. Yes even Katsuki.. His mom actually forced him to do that.
Her and Izuku were getting along just great. But Twilight didn't know how long she could hold her tears back of all what happened to her.
Izuku hugged her before he had to go home again, but she didn't let go. Izuku was red in the face, but that soon dissapeard once he had heard her crying. Izuku already had a feeling of why she is crying. And he completely understood why.
Izuku just held her close, giving her all the comfort that she needs.
"I will always be here for you if you ever need me." He said to her while stroking her head. Twilight just kept crying.
"Thank you" Twilight said starting to stop with crying.
Izuku felt warm. He knew what this feeling is. He was in love with this girl. Despute them only knowing for a few weeks, he was sure of it. But this propably isn't the time to confess. Maybe one day he will.
As the day went on, Izuku eventually had to leave. Lumina then had joined her.
"Hey kid.. are you alright?"
Twilight looked at her. And slowly shook her head.
"No, i'm not.. everything in my life has been hell! And now i finally know how a real family is like, and i am scared that my birth parents are gonna take me away!" Twilight said with fear in her voice.
Aurora immidiatly embraced her. "We make sure that that doesn't happen. I promise you that" she said rubbing her back.
Twilight hugged her back in an instantly.
'So this is what a mother hug feels like.. i like it' Twilight thought.
Keigo was watching them from outside the door.
'I better not ruin the moment by saying something...' he thought. He shrugged and joined the hug.
Twilight smiled and Aurora smiled. The 3 can be a fuctional family. If Aurora and Keigo actually get together at some point. Which they will. Hopefully.
The next day, Izuku arrived early. The 2 heroes smiled at him and let him in. Izuku knocked on Twi her door.
"Twilight? It's me Izuku!" He said happily.
Twi shot her head to the door and opened it, being happy to see him. Izuku happily walked in.
The 2 talked again for a long while. And Izuku loved loved seeing her smile after sucha long time.
And before Izuku knew it, he softly kissed her on the lips. He was completely red. He went even more red when he felt her kiss softly back.
'Wow.. her lips are so soft..' he thought. He then had to pull away for air.
"W-ow.." he said. Twi just smiled and hugged him. Izuku hugged her her back while smiling.
The 2 pros had seen everything and made a :'i'm watching you' motion. The 2 really see Twi as their own daughter despite not being related in any way.
Izuku quickly nodded and wanred them to leave. He finally has a moment with the girl he fell in love with. The 2 pris gave a smile and left the 2 alone
This was it. Twilight her life was finally becoming normal and niw finally has the family that she truly deserves.
Oh? And about the Tsubaki Yakuza? Lumina and Hawks had the pleasure of beating them and bring them to prison.
And about that creature? They made him see the daylight. This creature would burn to ashes if it met daylight, he had a painful death. Of course Heroes shouldn't kill but court decided it once they knew the entire thing.
Now a new chapter of Twilight her life is about to start. And she couldn't be more thankful
Request: Fairy Hyrule, Minish Four and Bunny Legend cuddlefic? Mostly because I love the idea of hugging a bunny ten times your size. THINK OF THE (literal) FLUFF AND SOFTNESS
So... I got a bit caught up in the WHY of them all being Small, and... this happened.
It all got deleted halfway through and I had to rewrite it from memory, but it turned out okay (although I don't like the flow as much this time through), bt it's... a bit long. This baby was ten pages, and it took forever to get to the cuddling bit- sorry about that.
Anyways, Anon, here is your (long overdue) Tiny fic (it ain't tiny).
The others are laughing and it’s making him mad. Usually, he’s just smack them over the head (a much good as it would do, curse his weak arms) but usually he can reach that high.
Right now, he can’t.
Because right now, he’s a freaking rabbit
He’s a little pink rabbit sitting in the middle of a circle of heroes who are all laughing at him, and more than anything he wants to hop his freaking furry tail over to Warrior’s horrid choice of footwear and bite the shit out of the captain’s ankles; he deserves it (the rancher does to).
“How did this happen?” Hyrule wheezes out, and even though he wants to be, Legend finds that he can’t be mad at the healer, not when the kid’s face is flushed with laughter, his smile bright and carefree, golden gaze watery under the force of his bell-like laughter as it pricks at Legend’s sensitive ears.
“I don’t know!” Twilight wheezes from where he’s leaning against Time, hearty chuckles exploring from him unabashedly as he looks down at Legend. “We were scouting around the camp and when I turned around,” He gestures weakly to the veteran, tears pricking the corners of his eyes. “Rabbit!”
Legend scowls. He doesn’t even know what happened. One minute he was walking and the next he was tumbling head over paws on the pathway. He’d refused to let Twilight carry him back to camp (if only to try and maintain whatever dignity he had left) and had waited hopefully for Twilight to retrieve the Master Sword for him, only for Warriors to stumble upon him with the darkest expression he’s ever seen on the captain’s face.
Warriors’ expression at seeing a rabbit might very well haunt Legend’s dreams for ages to come, and had prompted a squeak of fear from him that had sent Sky darting up from his seat. “Legend!” The Chosen Hero had shouted, concern in his sky-blue eyes as he had skidded to his knees at Legend’s side, cautious hands scooping him up and inspecting him for injuries in the brief moment where he was too shocked to protest. Of course, he wouldn’t stand it for long, and after pawing at Sky’s fingers with angry huffs and squeaks that he was going to hope the others would forget about, he had been released back onto the ground.
Which landed them where they were now, surrounded by cackling heroes as they stared down at the fluffy pink ball of fur that was their salty veteran.
“Wow vet, I’d’ve never guessed, a rabbit?” Warriors wheezes, eyes full of mirth. “No wonder we don’t get along!”
He rolls his eyes and growls as best as he can as a rabbit (not like he can growl anyway, but he tries none-the-less). “Just hand over the Master Sword so we can get this shit over with.” He squeaks, ignoring how his growls sound more like honks and chitters than anything threatening.
Sky looks at him oddly, as do several of the others, none of them (save Twi and Sky) apparently expecting him to be able to speak in this form, but the Chosen Hero obliges regardless, reaching back for the Master Sword and carefully settling it within Legend’s reach.
The cool cross-guard is comfortable under his paws, even if it is too big, and he sighs in relief as the power of the blade flows over him. In a moment, his form will disappear into the light and reappear, whole and Hylian, and fully capable of kicking some rancher ass.
Just a moment....
A second more...
He blinks his eyes open, violet flitting across the blade in mounting concern as he takes in the fluffy pink paws that are where his hands should be. Why isn’t it working? Why is he still a helpless rabbit?
“That’s weird.” Twilight and Sky both murmur, exchanging a worried glance as the Skyloftian retrieves the blade. He lunges after it though, not giving Sky a chance to inspect the blade and instead startling him with the weight of a rabbit in his lap as pink paws reach up to grasp the sword hilt again.
“Fi, explain.”
The sword spirit’s voice rings clear and cool in his head as Sky lowers the blade further, better into his reach. He hardly processes the motion, so focused on the words, which is perhaps why he doesn't question the stabilizing hand that lowers onto his back.
“Young Master,” Fi chimes softly in his mind. “The forces which have transformed you are not dark in nature. There is a 76% chance that they are in fact, of nature themselves. As such, my blade is unable to undo the curse. You will likely have to wait until this curse runs its course.”
“How long.” He grates out, nose shivering in irritation as his ears flick back, brushing gently against the Skyloftian's fingers and making Sky gasp softly.
“Processing....There is a 49% percent chance that this curse will fade and return you to your Hylian form in approximately three days' time, and there is a 27% percent chance that it will take a week for said change to occur. Additionally, there is a 15% percent chance that the curse will not fade, and a 9% chance that this curse will make you explode.”
A strangled screech escapes him and he doesn’t even realize his paws have released the sacred blade until they are grasping at his ears, tugging with all of the pent-up emotion inside of his body as he processes the words. Never mind the exploding bit, he might not turn back? There’s only a fifty-fifty chance that he’ll turn back in the next few days?
Sky’s long fingers drag through his fur gently, rubbing soothing circles over his back. “What did she say?”
“Three days!” He tugs his ears again. “Three days of being utterly useless and helpless, and it’s not even certain that I’ll turn back! I could be stuck like this forever! I could explode!”
“Exploding doesn’t seem likely-” Twilight attempts to calm him, but it only makes him tug his ears harder.
“Fi said it might happen!” He shouts back, high pitched and squeaky, and hating every second of it. He buries his face in the fabric beneath him, his rabbit heart pounding with panic and cold dread washing over him as the words continue to spew from his mouth. “And if Fi said it could happen than it might! And we were about to go into battle too! What’ll happen if someone gets hurt? I can’t help anyone and there's absolutely nothing that stupid bunny could do and-”
Someone’s scratching his ears.
Long fingers rubbing just right between them and Legend is helpless to tell them to stop because he’s too busy melting into a puddle in Sky’s lap at the sensation. All thoughts flee as he lets Sky’s hands drive away all worries. Should he be worried that he’s rendered speechless and vulnerable by something so simple? Probably, but Sky seems to know just how to place his hands and Legend can only hum in appreciation at the feeling, a squeaky purr escaping him as he leans into the sensation as Sky hums something soft and soothing under his breath. The vibrations carry down his fingers and tingle down Legend’s spine, calming him further.
“Cute.” Twilight's voice breaks him from his thoughts, and he’s pulling back from Sky’s hands and glaring up at the rancher with all the fury he can fit in his now tiny body.
“He’s not wrong, Kit.” Time chuckles soft and low, and Legend whips his head around to stare at the man.
“Oh no, you are not giving me a nickname!”
“Yeah Time,” Sky’s voice is low and mirthful as he speaks, hand once more settling on Legend’s back as he lifts an arm to block the vet from launching himself at their leader. “He’s my descendant, if anyone should be giving him a nickname it’s me.”
“How about Nibbles?” The sailor grins, leering into Legend’s space with enough mischief in his gaze to kill a Lynel. “I mean, the vet is always chewing us out.”
He forgets for a moment that his growls sound more like chirps in this form, baring his teeth at the sailor as he attempts to frighten him off. It doesn’t work, rabbits aren’t made to scare off bigger animals “So help me sailor I-”
Large hands scoop him off the ground and suddenly he’s being cradled in Sky’s arms. Like a baby. The indignity! “Calm down, Bun, he’s just kidding.” Sky’s crystal eyes glimmer with genuine concern as he looks down at Legend. “And we’ll find a way to change you back, I promise. The goddesses wouldn’t have let you change like this if it was for the worse. You’ll see,” Sky bops his nose with a smile entirely too pure. “It’ll be fine.”
Legend would like to argue that point, the goddesses have never shown any particular interest in what’s best for him before, and most of them seem to find humor in ruining his life time and again (except the Golden Trio, they’re alright he guesses, especially Din), but Sky looks so certain and Legend’s honestly too tired to start a big fight about Hylia again. (Heaven knows the last time he made Sky mad he nearly shat himself at how terrifyingly defensive Sky could get about those he loved). It doesn’t matter anyway, he supposes, as Sky’s already standing and making is way back to their main camp, gait just smooth enough not to jostle his reluctant passenger as Legend slumps in place.
He might as well let this happen, at least until he can figure out how to fix it.
It’s official.
Legend hates being a bunny.
They’ve settled down for dinner and as if to mock him and all that he loves, Wild has been struck with the inspiration to make his absolutely heavenly radish stew. The one that Legend would literally sell some of his rings for because it is that good.
And he can’t eat it.
He tried, and that attempt resulted in both himself and Sky covered in broth, the thick liquid clinging to his fur now as he sits on the ground with some raw fruits and vegetables instead. He doesn’t know that he’ll ever be able to eat it again without being forced to remember nearly drowning in the stuff.
He feels like a baby and he hates it.
He’s soaked himself and his ancestor and food and Warriors still isn’t done tittering about it.
He really hates being a bunny.
The others have nearly stepped on him numerous times, simply because they aren’t used to having to watch underfoot, so every time someone walks over to Wild to get seconds (why did the Champion sit next to him and Sky in the first place?) he has to back-peddle onto his haunches to avoid being crushed under heavy boots and even heavier feet.
Add to that that Wild and Wind both subconsciously reach out to pet his bedraggled fur every few minutes and he’s absolutely fed up with this shit!
At least the Champion was willing to lend him something to dry his fur off with, and even if he hates it, the spare brush Warriors has on hand does a decent job of detangling his fluffy hide. If he melts a little in Twilight’s lap as the rancher goes over him with the brush than no one says anything (although both Sky and Time have infuriating matching smiles on their faces).
But then it’s bedtime and Time is sorting through his things to try and make sure that no one person will have to carry all his stuff, and he’s reminded once again how utterly useless he is in this form. It only makes things worse that he knows that the others will be burdened with his bags, and considering his top speed at the moment can only be held for short sprints, he’s pretty sure the Old Man is going to have someone carry him too.
The very idea makes him puff out his fur in irritation.
At the very least though, he doesn’t have to worry much about how he’s going to handle the cold nights, Sky’s already taken his beloved sailcloth and bundled it into a little nest, and the minute Twilight is done with his fur the Chosen Hero is scooping him up and laying him in it (absently, he wonders if Sky might have a stronger paternal instinct than Time and if his own small form is triggering that). The fabric is warm though, and it’s nice. If Sky curls up around him in the middle of the night though, well, he supposes there’s not really much he can do about that.
Sky does curl around him and he’s trapped.
The Skyloftian may look soft and cuddly, but he’s got an iron grip when he’s asleep, and it’s only by the pure squishability of his current form that he’s able to escape (Sky will be disappointed when he wakes up, he knows, but even so, Legend doesn’t intend on staying a rabbit, not for a whole week, especially when there’s monsters out there.
Perhaps the thought of said monsters should dissuade him, but it doesn’t. He knows now what triggered this change, and he’s determined to hunt it down and trick it into changing him back, he just needs to escape his babysitters for a hot tic in order to do so.
It’s a lucky thing that Four and Warriors are both so drowsy that the feather light step of a rabbit doesn’t catch their attention as the two sit on watch, and Legend’s able to creep over to his bag (positioned with Twilight’s things) and dig through it until he finds what he needs.
You can’t go making deals with the fae unless you have something of value, or those tricksters will rob you blind and steal your first born. Not that Legend ever intends on having kids, but on the off chance that he ever did he’d rather they didn’t have a shitty life because he made an error in dealing with a forest sprite.
Come to think of it, how powerful are the forest people of this time?
Warriors looks seconds away from walking up to Sky’s sleeping form and throwing Legend as far as he can into the distance, and it’s making Four nervous.
Rationally, they know that Warriors wouldn’t consciously do such a thing, but they also know how much Warriors hates rabbits in general, and that the captain’s initial instinct at seeing them is to toss them away from himself as far as possible (never mind how rare a real rabbit is, Warriors’ time is apparently full of them and Warriors hates them). They’ve heard the story, how the captain was made to hunt rabbits down across his world and return them to their homes, the fact that he did so by throwing them is a bit concerning considering the delicate bone structure of the animals, but it’s not Wars’ fault that he doesn’t know that.
All the same, Four would feel a bit more secure if they knew that Wars wouldn’t be doing such a thing.  (Rationally, they know he won’t, but rationality is only so much of the equation).
“I’m gonna check on the vet.” They murmur softly to their companion. Somethings not right and they hope it’s just Warriors’ previous retellings of his own rabbit-escapades eating at them and not something else. “Sky’s got a grip like a vice when he sleeps and I don’t want him getting crushed.”
Never mind that being small sucks when it’s this cold out. Four desperately hopes that it won’t rain tonight (although the air tastes right for it).
“Rabbits are tough little things,” The captain chuckles. “I’m sure he’s okay.”
Vio wrenches control from the others, gaze flat as he stares out at Wars. “You do know most rabbits can’t survive being thrown, right? They’re not like cats, if they land wrong their done for.”
The captain pales slightly but doesn’t say anything, and they take that as their cue to stand and make their way over to where Sky and the vet had bedded down for the night. Sure enough, Sky is curled up around the sailcloth nest he made for Legend like a child curled around their favorite stuffed animal (or Red with any of the rest of them), but at the very least it doesn’t look as if Legend would have been smashed, just caged. They wince, the vet doesn’t sleep well on a good night, but waking up to being trapped? That is...not good. There’s a reason they never force him to join everyone else when Red takes over and calls for a cuddle pile; everyone knows that the most Legend will stand is letting Hyrule hold his hand while he sleeps, and even then, the vet will still pull away when he finally does fall asleep.
Sky shifts (he’s a heavy sleeper, but all the same he moves a lot), arms wrapping tighter around the bundle in his arms. Tight enough that the sailcloth gives way. Sky’s face screws up in his sleep, wrapping even tighter around the bundle as if seeking out some form of resistance.
Four panics. Bunnies are delicate creatures and Sky is strong, did he just crush Legend?
Only, looking closer, Vio points out that there isn’t even a hint of pink amidst the fabric, and when Four dares reach out to test the bundle himself, they find that there is nothing within its folds.
“Four?” Warriors’ voice is tinged with concern as Four stand back up from his crouch, brows pinched together as he scans over the camp. “Is something wrong?”
“Legend’s missing.”
The captain’s brows shoot up, but thankfully he doesn’t bother with questioning them, instead hoisting himself to his feet and making his way around the camp, an ever-growing frown marring his features as he looks around. “Did he choose to sleep with Hyrule instead?” It’s a soft murmur, likely only spoken aloud because Wars is too tired to stop it before it reaches his mouth, but Four’s eyes flick over to where the Traveler sleeps regardless.
“I don’t think so.”
“Look,” Warriors groans softly, not loud enough to wake the others, stopping at Twilight’s bedroll and motioning to the bags stacked near the rancher's pillow. “His bag is open.”
“You don’t think he climbed inside of it, do you? We’d never find him!”
The captain gives him a look, blinking once before shaking his head. “No! But he was clearly trying to get at something.” Royal blue eyes turn to stare out at the forest. “What are the chances he went back out there, alone?”
Four hesitates, fingers drumming on his thigh as the colors swarm in his mind. “I don’t know, but I should probably check.”
“We need to watch camp.” The older hero frowns.
“You watch camp, I’ll go out there.”
“You can’t go alone, Four, it’s not safe.” Wars reminds him, concern glinting in his gaze as he turns back to the smithy.
“Fine.” Blue’s the only reason they roll their eyes, they swear. “I’ll take Hyrule. If the vet’s fallen down a hole or something then we can take care of it immediately.”
A smile breaks out across Warriors’ face, even if it is slightly strained. “Funny how that’s even a risk now.”
“Don’t I know it.” Besides, at least Hyrule seems to have a second sense for these sorts of things. Like Sky and Twilight, he has a knack for tracking down the others, especially if he needs to find Time for whatever reason. Four’s seen it themselves, it’s uncanny, but incredibly useful, so they’ve never really questioned it (Vio has, Vio has questioned it enough to give them a head-ache).
It’s the work of a minute to shake the traveler awake, as he’s one of the lightest sleepers of them all, and it takes even less time for them to be off, the simple words “Legend’s gone” being enough to send the traveler springing up and following closely after Four, one hand on his sword as the two of them make their way back into the depths of the forest.
Legend should know better than to try and make a deal with the fae.
Hyrule can recognize the look of a fairy about to claim her prize in an instant, and it appears Legend is about as clueless as a bunny can be about the loophole that he must have left open in whatever twisted deal the two have concocted. Anger burns in his blood as a whisper-hisses through his teeth, a few words all it takes before he’s zipping between the two of them, wings beating furiously as all six of his eyes stare into those of the other with nothing short of pure fury.
“Mine!” He hisses, darting forwards in a fake charge at the other, wings whirring angrily as his eyes stare at them “Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine!” His voice contorts and buzzes, his aura flickering brighter and sharper as he zooms down to hover over Legend’s ears. “MINE.”
“What is your claim?”  The other chimes smugly. “What promise or service marks him as yours? Where is the Mark that makes a mortal the charge of a fae, hmm? Show it to me and I will release him to your care.” Glistening teeth glimmer as multiple eyes glisten with malice, jealousy over a potential catch making the fairy’s gaze spark dangerously. “Else ways, leave us be, our deal is near set and you have no business to interrupt it.”
“His true form,” He hisses. “There is my Mark on his hand. The Triangle, my symbol.” He hisses through bared teeth, every eye slitted and glimmering with fury. He can’t lie, not even if he tried, but he’s fae and they’re more skilled than anyone at finding tricks to get around things. The triforce is his symbol, something he’s recognizable by in his world, but it’s not only on his hand, the others bear the same mark and even if it isn’t Fae in origin, it's from the Scared Realm and none can deny that it sets them apart. Anyways, the Fae know mortals by their markings, this should be enough of a claim to make her renounce her dealings with Legend.
No fae dares mess with the Charge of another.
“What is your proof? Can you show me?” She taunts.
“My power isn’t that strong.” He hisses. “You do it and then you’ll see!”
“And give him what he asks without receiving my due? Oh no little Half-Blood.” She glares at him. “Give me Good Reason or leave alone.”
“He is goddess born.” He hisses out finally, grasping at straws. Mother only taught him so much of Fae law, but surely there’s something against touching those blessed by the heavens, right? “Hylia’s child descended. To touch him or any other of Mine is to plead wrath from the Scared Realm.” A sly smile slides over pointed teeth. “Would you wish that on Yours?”
She pales. “Mark your own in all forms, Halfling. This would not happen if you did.” It’s all she cares to say though, zipping away without another word.
“Do I want to know what I just avoided?” Legend’s voice croaks up at him, faint and pitchy all the same as he looks up to the fairy above him.
“I don’t know. But never, and I mean NEVER, make deals with fae again. Not even me! You can’t break promises or be too careful, you never know what they’ll do.” Two of his eyes glance over his shoulder to ensure that the other Fae is gone for good.
“I was trying to be careful.” Legend huffs, his breath sending Hyrule higher over his head for a moment before the fairy regains his balance. “They’re clever little-” He cuts off, violet eyes narrowing and bunny nose shivering as he looks up at Hyrule again. “You’re a fairy.”
His aura dims slightly, wings drooping ever so slightly as he looks down at his mentor. “Yes.”
Legend stares, violet piercing and sharp. Hyrule has never noticed the hint of gold that bands his irises, nor the flecks of blue that glisten under the effects of a fairy’s glow, and it only makes the Veteran’s stare all the more intense.
“Huh.” The bunny huffs softly. “That’s pretty neat, ‘Rulie.” There's no anger, no accusation in his tone, and when Hyrule brings his gaze up to meet that of his mentor again, all he sees is fondness and intrigue. “Is this new? An item? Were you- no,” Legend’s ears prick forwards, his interest obvious as he leans forward. (Hyrule wonders if the vet realizes that he's smelling him.) “You speak like They do. This isn’t new.”
It’s not a question.
“I’m, uh, half fairy.”
Legend nods slowly. “And you didn’t think to tell anyone?” At the dimming of Hyrule’s glow the vet pulls away, eyes flashing with panic for a moment. “I don’t mean that as a bad thing, ‘Rule, just-” He cocks his head long ears flopping to one side sloppily. “It’s not something I’d think you’d want to hide. Seems pretty useful to me.”
And by useful, Hyrule knows Legend means cool.
“I told Four.” He nods to the Hylian standing over them. The smithy’s eyes flicker various colors, his lips pulling aside into a slight smile as he crouches to be closer to their height.
“Now I’m taller than both of you.” Four chuckles softly, crimson tinged gaze sweeping over the two of them.
“Don’t get smart.” Legend huffs. “This is a curse, not my true form, you’d be tiny too if you were cursed into an animal form. Probably smaller than me!”
There’s a knowing look in the smithy’s gaze, but he holds his silence, smile still present as he carefully looks over the both of them. “Well, if neither of you were harmed in that little exchange, we should get back to camp. Wars will be in a huff if we don’t back with you soon.”
Legend huffs his own huff, but doesn’t object, gathering up the glimmering item he had brought as a toll (Hyrule thinks it might be a precious stone of some sort) and slowly hopping after the Smithy as he turns back towards camp.
They’d have made it to camp rather quickly too, if the sky hadn’t chosen that moment to weep out it’s sorrow with the world and the evils within. Great sheets of rain, the likes of which they usually only expect from the Champion’s Hyrule, flood down over them, and Hyrule thanks all things Holy that Legend is there to break his fall as the water soaks his wings and sends him careening towards the earth. Four yelps in surprise, hands fumbling for his hood as he tried to fend off some of the wet (it does little good, they’ll be soaked in seconds in this downpour.
“In here!” Legend squeaks, the rabbit hero already darting into the nearest hollow he can see that isn’t clearly inhabited. It’s a tight squeeze, and Hyrule nearly knocks his head on the bark of the opening, but Legend gets the both of them under, and despite the mushrooms that seem to fill the space with a soft light, it’s a comfortable fit for the two of them. The ground beneath is laid with moss, purposefully it would seem, and Hyrule lets himself side down into it with an appreciative hum.
“What about Four?” He murmurs softly, looking out of the crevice through which they entered. It’s still pouring buckets, and unlike them, the smithy has no dry place to hide (heavens knows the camp will be soaked. He feels terrible for the others).
“What about me?”
Violet and gold turn upwards as twin gasps escape the two. Four, in all of his minish glory, waves back at them from where he’s perched on top of one of the mushrooms. “Minish portal.” He smiles cheerily (but Hyrule can Taste the nervousness rolling off of him).
“Wait, both of you get small?” Legend’s ears stand up straight, brushing the roof of their shelter. “Smaller?” He corrects himself.
Four rolls his eyes. “It was get soaked or get small. I don’t fancy catching a cold, so I chose small.” He wrinkles his nose (it will never stop being cute), hopping down from the mushroom and free falling into the dampened fur of his rabbit-companion. “Now shut up and let me warm up, you’re bigger than I am and since you left me out there to soak I think I can get away with using you to warm up.”
Hyrule’s laughter rings soft and sweet through the hollow, Legend’s vaguely offended expression only adding fuel to the fire as he flits closer. “The vet doesn’t really mind cuddles, do you Ledge? Besides,” He lets his wings fall still, embracing the warmth of Legend’s soft fur as he lands in it lightly. “We just saved his ass.”
Legend turns his head to stare at the two of them, but even in rabbit form his lips twitch with amusement as he shoves him nose into Four’s personal space, making the minish-hero tumble down into the moss with a faint yelp. “You’re soaking.”
The smith grins back, plunging right back into the warm pink fur. “That wasn’t a refusal.”
“One time.” Legend huffs, ears flicking briefly. “One time only, smithy. Enjoy it while you can.”
“Trust me,” Four sighs, plonking down against the vet and leaning into the plush fur around him. “I will.”
It takes mere seconds before Four has drifted off, and Hyrule is reminded that the smith was keeping watch for most of the night before they had gone out looking for Legend. Guilt, sickly-sweet, yet bitter, taints his tongue as Legend stares down at the tiny form curled against him. Hyrule sighs. “I guess he was more tired than I thought.”
Legend only huffs, ears flicking back and nose shivering as he noses the smithy’s sleeping from. Four’s dropped off like a stone, completely dead to the world as Legend curls around him (not dissimilar to how Sky had curled around him earlier that night), easing the gentle shivers of the smith, who noses deeper into Legend’s pelt. Tiny paws coming up to catch hold of pink fur as Four curls up, feather-like tail brushing against the top of his tiny nose, moved only by tiny snores that make Legend’s ears twitch and Hyrule giggle softly.
“The rains still pouring down.” Legend hums, gruff as he can be in his current state, but Hyrule knows it’s all an act. “You might as well get some sleep too, ‘Rulie.”.
And while any other time Hyrule may have argued, Legend lifts his head to offer the space next to Four, and if Legend is offering cuddles, especially with his silky soft fur as a barrier against the cold, Hyrule knows he can’t resist it.
Four’s paw catches hold of him the instant he settles next to the smithy, and before he knows it the two of them are both bundled up in each other while Legend curls himself around them, breath soft and soothing as his heart pit-patters away inside of him.
That’s how they wake the next morning.
Wolfie’s nose shoved against the crack in the bark is what pulls them back from the land of dreams, and the soft snuffling bark followed by Time’s voice is what gets them up on their feet. It’s an awkward thing, emerging into the light again to find five heroes and a wolf staring down at them in a mixture of confusion and concern, but nobody seems to be able to bring themselves to scold when Four sneezes.
“We got caught in the storm.” Legend huffs when he sees the soft expression on Time’s face.
Wolfie huffs, and, much to the surprise of the currently shrunken heroes, they can hear the laugh in it. “Of course you did.”
Hyrule’s mouth drops open, all six eyes bugging out in shock as he turns to Four. The fairy’s whisper is high and shocked, but too sharp a noise for Hylian ears, although Legend, Wolfie and Four can all hear him quite clearly. “Wolfie is Twilight!”
Secrets in the Breeze
"What do you think it is?"
Several sets of eyes fell on the tablet Hyrule had unearthed, pondering its use. Legend studied the pattern critically. "Hmm..." He reached down and wiped away some dirt. "...It looks like song magic."
"Those aren't notes I recognize..." Sky said with a frown. “Are you sure?”
“No. But that’s my best guess until I can study it better.”
Hyrule reached for his recorder. “Well, we can find out pretty quickly, right?”
Time held out a hand to stop him. He gave the strange tablet a thoughtful look. "...Everyone, stand back."
The other four in the hunting party quickly gave him distance as he pulled out his indigo ocarina. The marks looked a little different, but...Drawing in a breath, he lifted the instrument to his lips.
Tumblr media
The other heroes watched in anticipation.
...Silence.
Time frowned, glancing around the area. “...Did anyone notice anything happening?”
“I don’t think so.” Wild paused, peering at the sky outside the cavern. “Not unless you have a song for causing rain.”
“I do. This isn’t it.”
“Wait, really?”
Time offered a small smile. “A conversation for another time. Let’s get back before the others decide to come looking for us.”
“Do you think they decided to cook something themselves?” Hyrule asked, grabbing his game bag.
Sky scrunched up his nose. “Goddess, I hope not. I can still taste that...reekfish thing.”
Wild raised his hand. “I liked it.”
“You eat rocks. You don’t get to judge what tastes good.”
As the others went ahead, Legend glanced back at the strange tablet. After a moment’s consideration, he wrenched it free of the earth and tucked it under his arm.
It needed to be studied further.
Tumblr media
“There you are!” Warriors exclaimed, halfway through putting up the oil tarp for the rain. “We were just about to get a search party ready.”
“He means he was about to go running off after you,” Twilight said, giving his well-polished counterpart a side-eye, then shook his head. “Anyways, we’re all hungry. What took you?”
Hyrule rubbed the back of his head. “Secret cave.” He gave a nod to Wild. “He spotted some fragile rocks and wanted to blow them up.”
“Find anything?”
“Yeah, actually.” Legend held out the tablet. “Song magic script. Do any of you guys recognize this?”
Twi, Four, and Wars all frowned as they looked at the markings, but Wind lit up instantly. He threw his hand in the air. “I do!” he exclaimed. “That’s 4/4 time; it’s conductors notes!”
Time raised an eyebrow. “Conductor’s notes?”
“Uh-huh. It’s how song magic works on the Great Sea.” Wind tilted his head to the side. “Though, I don’t know this song. What is it?”
“We were hoping you could tell us that.” Legend said, sitting down by the fire. “Think you can play a tune for us?”
Wind’s eye’s shone, and he pulled out his silver baton, looking to Time for confirmation. “Can I?”
The older hero frowned, considering. “...Not this close to the fire. Or to bad weather. For all we know, it’s a Lyric of Lightning or something equally as dangerous.”
Wind’s shoulders slumped, and Four patted his back. “Cheer up,” he said. “You can still try it out tomorrow. Besides,” he flashed the younger hero a smile, “we should eat before it rains, right? I’m hungry, aren’t you?”
“...Yeah,” Wind relented. He gave one last wistful look at the tempo pattern.
Soon, he told himself. Soon, I’ll learn your secrets.
Tumblr media
Rain pattered outside the heroes’ shelter, the soothing sound and calm scent of petrichor letting even the most troubled of them sleep undisturbed, for once.
Well...almost all of them.
Wind managed the 2 AM watch at the edge of camp, eyeing Legends tools and trying to coax himself out of the temptation to try the new song. It had been so long since he’d run into a tablet like that; the thrill of new abilities or hidden passages was a siren’s call to the young adventurer.
Up, down, up, right. It was so simple.
What could it do?
Wind found himself fantasizing about the possibilities. Maybe it calls birds, he thought. Or summons fairies, or lets you talk to rocks. He glanced up at the stormclouds. Or maybe the old man’s right and it’s a lightning song. How cool would that be?
He pictured it; calling down lightning like one of the mages of legend, with just a swish of the Wind Waker. He could take out entire monster camps in one fell swoop!
His eyes drifted back to the tablet by Legend’s bag.
...If it’s really a lightning song, then it won’t work if we wait for the storm to clear, Wind thought to himself, pulling out his baton.
He needed to try it out.
Just to test it. Time would understand, right?
Stealthily, he crept over and grabbed the stone, carefully pulling it over to his post at the tarp’s edge, and stood in front of it. The Wind Waker sparkled with magic intent.
Tumblr media
The stone shimmered, triangle carvings lighting up; orange, yellow, orange, blue. Light bled through the cracks, and—
—it crumbled to dust.
Wind’s jaw dropped.
...Legend was going to kill him.
He shoved the Wind Waker back into his bag hastily, trying to keep calm. This is fine, right? If he doesn’t say anything, then nobody can blame him, and Legend could chalk it up to age! Relics break all the time!
...Except Time’s disapproving frown would crack Wind for sure. There was no evading that; it was almost as bad as when his grandma gave him the look of disappointment. He was doomed.
Ping!
Wind’s ears twitched, momentarily distracted from his crisis by the sound. A soft purple glow caught his eye.
Ping!
The Master Sword gave another call, the sliver of visible blade pulsing with lavender light among Sky’s things.
Wind stared at the sacred sword, uncertain. “...What is it?” he whispered.
Ping!
He reached out to take it, then hesitated.
Sky was going to kill him too.
...No. He couldn’t, right? The Master Sword was just as much Wind’s as anyone else here; besides, he’d just borrow it. Sky could have it back. He reached out for the blade.
Ping!
Four shifted in his sleep, and Wind froze, staring at the shorter hero. If the sword woke anyone up before he could fix the tablet situation, he was toast.
Ping!
Panicking, Wind snatched the sword up and ran outside, trying to silence it before it could make any more noise. He would deal with the consequences later, when the others woke up at a normal time. Once he was safely in the white noise of rainfall, Wind drew the blade. “Alright, what is it?” he demanded, holding it level with his eyes as if he could scold it. “You’re going to get me in trouble.”
Ping, ping, ping—
He frowned as it began to beep faster, lowering it. “Come on, I can’t deal with-”
Ping! Ping!
He paused, then lifted it up again.
Ping, ping, ping—
He lowered it.
Ping! Ping!
Back up.
Ping, ping, ping—
Wind tilted his head curiously. Experimentally, he spun in a slow circle.
Ping, ping, ping ping ping PINGPINGPING ping ping—
“Are you...trying to show me something?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. Watching it closely, he pointed the sword in the direction that caused the most noise and light.
Into the forest.
He glanced back at camp. If he stayed behind, they could all go after whatever this was together...after he got a scolding for breaking Legend’s stuff, and endangering the camp, and not listening to the old man...
Yeah, no. Forest it is.
Tumblr media
Sky rolled over in his sleep, his dreams filled with endless skies and blue loftwings. Clouds rolled in over the picnic of pumpkin soup he was having with Zelda.
Fragrant, but suffocating clouds. He couldn’t breathe.
He bolted awake, fighting whatever was cutting off his air and defeating the tangled sailcloth in a heroic and not-at-all frantic wrestling match. His eyes fell on the white fabric as he caught his breath.
...He should stop wearing this thing to bed.
With a sigh, he unpinned it from his shoulders and went to wrap it around Fi. If he couldn’t have the comforts of home, at least she could. He reached for the blade—
—and grasped nothing but air.
With a frown, the hero fumbled for his tinderbox and lit a match, struggling a moment to make a spark in the damp storm air, then looked around for his trusty blade. The longer he searched, the more he could feel ice creep into his veins; he even rifled through the luggage of the usual borrowers of the Master Sword.
“Sky?”
His attention snapped over to the source of the voice. Time was looking at him with an eyebrow raised, bleary-eyed and confused. “What are you doing?”
Sky swallowed the panicked lump in his throat. “The Master Sword’s missing.”
Time sat up sharply, wide awake in an instant as adrenaline shot through him. He quickly did a headcount.
Eight. One short.
Kid-sized bootprints left the camp’s edge, pressed into the fresh mud in a perfect trail.
Tumblr media
Wind ran through the woods, following wherever the sword led him. The faster he figured out what was going on, the faster he could get back. And if he found something, that would make things better, right? He’d even let Legend keep some of the treasure, as a peace offering.
The forest, though, seemed to have no end to it, stretching high above his head, with shadows reaching out from all directions. He remembered hearing about something like this from Hyrule—the Lost Woods, which spat you out the way you came from if you made a wrong turn in them. He’d never heard of such a thing on the Great Sea, but then again, the ocean wasn’t exactly known for its vast woodland.
Finally, he reached a clearing, the sword giving a continuous ringing noise to indicate that he’d hit his dowsing mark. And, standing in the middle of it, was a weathered stone wall, overgrown with vines. He could faintly see something scrawled behind the foliage.
Narrowing his eyes, Wind channeled all the magic power he could into the Master Sword’s spin attack.
“HYAH!”
Tumblr media
“HYAH!”
The heroes stopped in their tracks at the noise. Hyrule sheltered his candle from the rain carefully. “Was that-”
“He’s here.” Time said, quickly breaking into a jog. “Come on, we can’t lose pace now. The Lost Woods can do awful things to you if you’re not careful.”
Tumblr media
Wind shook his head, quickly getting rid of the stars in his vision. He’d forgotten how disorienting a Hurricane Spin could be.
It had done the job well, though. The vines were nothing but chopped salad now, and the carvings behind the stone were clear as day. Six conductor’s notes stared Wild in the face, begging to be played.
The hero’s fingers tingled; this felt like the start of an adventure, one that didn’t start with a kidnapping and cannonfire.
Drawing himself up, he pulled out his baton, and began to play the magic tune.
Tumblr media
This one was different from the first. It felt...familiar, somehow. It wasn’t something he’d ever played before, and yet...
The music carried his thoughts away from him. He found himself conducting from his heart, like when he’d played with Medli and Makar, swept up in the energy the song game off. As he ran out of notes to orchestrate, he heard an earsplitting CRACK, and his eyes flew open.
The wall had crumbled to nothingness, like the tablet had. In its wake, however, a shining blueish pedestal sat, magic spiraling outwards from its center like a spring flower.
Ping!
Wind looked at the Master Sword, tucking the Wind Waker away. He smiled fondly. “Just like old times, huh?” Giving it a playful twirl, he walked over to the pedestal, holding the sword’s hilt in both hands. “I wonder what’s going to look like this time. Are you going to get more powerful?” His eyes shone, imagining the others’ faces at bringing an even stronger Master Sword back with him. Taking a deep breath, he stabbed the blade down into its newest resting place, confident that he could handle whatever boss or dungeon this unlocked.
“LINK!!!”
His head snapped up as the rest of the Chain rushed into the clearing, eyes wide. “Hey-” He tried to talk, but no sound came out; his mouth felt like it was full of cotton, and his head swam. Silver fog began to cloud his vision.
The last thing he was aware of before he felt himself fall was Time throwing his blade aside and running to catch him.
Then it all went white. The only noises he could hear were the whispers of watchers, and the chimes of tiny bells.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR BEAUTY AND THE BEAST IDEA. But may I also propose: Magnus cursed from a young age (probably bc of Asmodeus) that anyone who touches him is hurt by a blast of magic he can't control. (This may result in his mother's death). He locks himself away of his own will. Alec teaches then that it's fear that makes him lash out. Featuring: touch starved Magnus.
this idea is GENIUS actually and i love it. tbh me and my friend have a similar idea that we talk to each other about (lol) but it isn't a B&B thing, its more of an adventure AU. anyway, lets go!
so in this universe i guess magnus banished asmodeus like in the original sh verse but asmodeus cursed him with the "everyone you touch will be in indescribable pain" thing. maybe just as revenge, maybe to try and use it as bargaining chip because okay magnus, is it freedom that u want? u want to be able to have ur own friends and ur own life? fine. get me back, and ill leave u alone, and ull be free to have friends again. if not, ull be still isolated just like before. so is it gonna be win-win, or lose-lose?
but magnus doesn't budge because he knows that if he lets asmodeus free things will only get worse not only for him, but for the whole world. he is too dangerous to be out there. so, magnus resigns to his fate
and i guess in this version he wouldnt have a lot of close friends because he had been with asmodeus his whole life before he was cursed, so he was just. alone in his self-imposed isolation with no one to talk to. maybe he enchants the furniture so they gain sentience but they can't really feel pain, so at least he has someone to talk to. god im so fucking sad already
so is the furniture his friends in canon? im not entirely sure how i feel about that but also the idea of ragnor as that clock from the original movie is great. thats my most important thought on the subject ngl
btw its 4 degrees Celsius in here so im typing with gloves on so ull have to excuse my typos i am a mere brazilian and i want death
anyway okay so i guess his friends are like pieces of furniture that he spelled into sentience and they aren't his servants or anything cuz that's gross but they just like, hang out. wow im actually managing to type pretty well all things considered
so at least magnus has people to talk to but he's still touch starved because you know... a clock can't hug you and that'd just be weird. maybe them becoming sentient was an accident? lmao like magnus just wanted to automate some functions like having the clock talk to tell him the time or something and it turned out that they became sentient. possibly his magic is a little fucky because of the curse so that's why that happened? or maybe he just is way more powerful than he realizes and we all know he invented the spells he used to try and automate the things anyway. but if he gets people to talk to, well, he's not complaining
im focusing too much on this. anyway. id also like to note that im making rapha the cook/stove thing because i mean, come on. it's right there
and ok i guess alec comes into this because he uhhhhhh no u know i might go with that izzy thing. so izzy ran away from home because of maryse's bullshit and alec was sent to bring her back. so he was going after her but in the middle of the path there was the whole wolf attack thing that scared off his horse and LUCKILY magnus' house/tower/whatever was right next!!! so of course they take alec and his horse in but also WHOOPS there's a huge snowstorm that lasts for days (par the course for where magnus lives, actually. he DID want somewhere people would avoid. but also i think maybe his magic being fucky has something to do with it) so i guess alec is stuck at magnus' for the foreseeable future
which is HELL for magnus because he is terrified out of his mind that they will accidentally touch and alec will be hurt. and like.... his Constant Crave For Touch is already bad on a regular day, but having someone who could actually hug him in theory just makes it worse, you know? he hasn't interacted with other human beings in so long, just having one there is enough to make his need for touch almost unbearable and just... completely constant. it's hell
so magnus is scared, which means that he keeps to himself. so he tells alec not to go into his room, he tries not to eat at the same time, and other stuff like that, bUT his friends keep sabotaging his plans because they want him to have another friend, jesus christ!! (rapha being like "come on now magnus, you don't want my soup to get cold, do you? i'll be deeply offended. i guess you have no choice but to eat with alec". so magnus goes but the first thing he does is magic his regular table into a gigantic rectangular table with 41908410 seats and seat on on the side opposite to alec. alec just sighs
so like he's constantly coming across as rude because he is trying to avoid alec, alec just doesn't know why
but alec is also a stubborn bitch who goes stir crazy and refuses to just sit around isolated doing nothing while they wait for the stupid storm to finally be over so he can go get his sister. and magnus saved his life, so it's the least he can do to repay him in some way. besides, this is what, the first time that he's been completely away from his mom? for such a long time too? and he's finding that he feels... weirdly free and just relieved and he doesn't want to waste that opportunity with standing idly around alone all day. he had enough of that at home, thank you very much
besides yeah magnus is being rude but alec is used to straight up assholes and abusers (jace. i'm talking about jace. also maryse ofc but mostly jace) and magnus is not that. in fact he makes very polite conversation and is actually pretty fun during dinner, all things considered. he's just.... super private, i guess
AND magnus' friends are all being a nightmare with the making them interact so you know. they end up interacting. and alec makes it a point to help him take care of his house because it is a certified Depression Lair™. magnus can take care of it magically but it's like... so dark and almost suffocating at times and there is stuff like bad painting and piping problems that he never bothered to fix because it isn't affecting the functionality too much but it DOES makes life harder and alec "everything must be at 100% always" lightwood is not here for it so for a few days they are working on fixing the house and... magnus actually feels a lot better when the place has actual sunlight and looks inviting and like a home, he has to admit. when he says that to alec it might be the first time he's given him a real smile and man, is alec smitten
sidenote i guess this means that magnus doesn't exactly... dress well in this au lmaoo i mean it makes sense too because canonically magnus uses dressing up as a way to convey an image of power and untouchability and he doesn't really need that in this AU since he is completely isolated. so i guess he is a bit more like twi magnus - bare-faced and wearing comfortable clothes and the like. this isn't a twi au i'm just saying that it makes more sense for him to dress like that in that context
anyway. after the whole house fixing thing, they officially become friends. it turns out that alec also knows a bit about what it's like to feel isolated and touch-starved (altho he's always had izzy to help in that department, but still) and also what crappy parents are like. magnus shows alec his little mirror that he's enchanted to be able to show him anything he wants and how he uses it to be able to see all the places in the world he'd like to visit - he loves people, he loves culture, and sometimes it's all he can do to watch what's going on in Mumbai and it makes him feel a little better, so, he does that. he also admits that sometimes he catches on some drama happening and uses the mirror to see the people involved and make sure they are okay. kinda like a soap opera of his own but he has the means to interfere and help because of magic, so he will have someone who's struggling with money suddenly find hidden cash or have an "unknown dead relative" give them a lot of money in their will, or something like that. and if he also watches some of their personal drama that unfolds, well. he is lonely and it's not hurting anyone
but magnus doesn't tell him about the curse, and he still makes sure to keep his distance. it stings a little to alec, but it hurts magnus the most because fuck, maybe he just desperately needs someone who will give him the time of day, but he likes this guy and that only makes it harder to keep his distance. he makes it a point to always be at at least two arms length from alec, which alec thankfully respects and doesn't try to get him to breach, but. shit. it's still so hard to not want to just rest his head on his shoulder or get a hug or even fucking touch pinkies like stupid children and he can't. alec even once jokingly suggests that they have a ball since magnus doesn't know how to dance and magnus is actually excited for a second before he remembers that he can't, it would have to mean that alec touches him, and he can't
someone - maybe ragnor - even suggests that maybe he could try gloves and heavy clothing so alec isn't really touching him but magnus refuses to try because he doesn't want to risk it not working and alec getting hurt, because he'd never forgive himself. besides, getting a taste would only make it hurt more. he can't. he can't
but it's alright because at least he has some human company - he loves his friends, he does, fiercely, but it's different when they kind of have no choice but to be with him and also are enchanted creatures. he doesn't even know if they aren't nice to him just because he enchanted them into life, even tho to be fair if he had a choice ragnor wouldn't be that grouchy - and alec makes him laugh and gets him and helped make his place feel more like home, a little bit. and he can pretend that he feels the warmth from alec's body when they are sitting by the fire and feed these crumbs to his desperate need for touch and company
and then the snowstorm ends and it's time for alec to go
honestly, alec himself is kind of heartbroken, but- he loves his sister, and he can't just leave her alone in god knows where, even if he dreads the thought of coming back home now that he's been away from his family for so long. but magnus doesn't want to keep him, and doesn't want alec to feel pity for him, so he's all but pushing alec out of the door (not literally, of course. he can't do that, it would mean touching him) all "go, go, you never know when another storm might start. go see your sister. take my mirror, you can find her more easy". and alec's all "but it's been the only thing-" and magnus waves him off, of course, all "i can always make myself another one. besides, you'll have something to remember me by. now go"
so.... alec goes
and hooo boy magnus is heartbroken and a mess because even tho he knew how much having someone else there helped he had almost forgotten what it was like to be the only human in the house. he just feels extra lonely and even kind of bad about it because hey, his friends are there - not that they begrudge him for it, of course. it's not like they don't also hope for the chance to get out of the house and do other things, but well. they can't. so they understand him. and they know how awful he's feeling right then, but what can they do?
meanwhile alec finds izzy pretty quickly - she's living with this one insufferable villager named clary that alec absolutely can't stand, but- she's happy. and she doesn't want to come back, which alec expected, but he finds that he can't actually insist for her to come back. how could he, when he himself doesn't want to go?
and izzy insists that he stays with her - there's no reason for him to come back. they can stay in the village, and work, and build a life for themselves. alec is the only thing she's been missing ever since she left, and in here the both of them can actually be happy. and do it together, like they're meant to
and when he first gets into the village is the first time since izzy ran away that he was hugged and fuck, it's hard to say no to her
but also... he misses magnus already
and he doesn't know if he can just stay and leave him behind
and of course izzy is like "who is magnus?" so alec tells her the story, how he was attacked by wolves and rescued by this house that miraculously was in the middle of the single most inhospitable placealec had ever seen in his life. and the kind but wary stranger who always keeps his distance but seems so eager for connection, who made alec feel welcome and laugh and feel like he built a life for himself there
and clary tells him that she's heard of the story, but she never knew it was more than a legend - no one really remembers what happened. some say that magnus made a sacrifice to rid the village of a demon, and it turned him into a beast, forever locked in his castle. some say that he himself is the demon, and it's the tower that's containing him and keeping the village safe. some even say that he died battling the demon, and it's his ghost that keeps watch on the tower
she wants alec to explain which one is true, but it's all alec can say that none of these are right and he knows nothing because magnus never told him. all alec knows is that he doesn't want to leave magnus behind
and clary is like... well, if he's not a demon or a ghost, maybe we could bring him to the village too. he has magic, right? he could bring the tower closer. and maybe the other villagers could, you know, visit him and hang out. and he wouldn't be as lonely, and then alec and izzy could both stay
driven by this failproof plan, they decide to go back to magnus and tell him their great idea
except they are IDIOTS and forget about. you know. the damn wolves
and like holy shit is this pack big or what? like no seriously why are there infinite wolves in that one singular pack in beauty and the beast. like holy shit dude there's more wolves near the beast's house than in the whole yellowstone park
anyway there are Many Wolves and while alec is a good archer, izzy is a fantastic fighter, and clary is Fucking Crazy if you give her something stabby, there's only so many wolves they can take on at the same time
good thing magnus is a pining idiot who did in fact make himself another magic mirror and was watching alec with it. so he knows that the dumbass is in trouble and for the first time in years, he uses the portal (his own invention, and he had never gotten to use it before!) to get to them and fight off the wolves
so magnus saves all their lives, at the cost of getting severely injured and passing the fuck out. izzy, who's the one closest, runs to get to him and help put him on one of their horses... and is immediately hit by a blast of magic that almost makes HER pass tf out too
which is when they finally learn that, oh. that is the curse
izzy is fine, of course - the pain ended as soon as she was away from magnus
but it does pose the problem of How The Fuck Are They Getting Him Back To Safety, because they can't exactly wait for magnus to wake up (it's freezing, for starters) but with this amount of pain it won't be physically possible for them to hoist him up and get him on the horse. shit, will the curse work on the horse?
they bring alec's horse (by far the strongest of them because alec is huge buff mcgee) and try to get him to touch magnus and the spell does NOT work on the horse because in order to be dramatic asmodeus was like "you shall never feel human touch again" when he cast the spell, which accidentally gave a LOOPHOLE for non-human animals. so magnus could have had cats the whole time, which he had always dreamed of, but he didnt want to risk testing. besides, his house would be a poor environment for a cat and [self torture noises]
anyway thats one less problem to deal with, 99 to go, so they use some ropes to hoist magnus on top of the horse and bring him back to the tower (it's closer than the village) so they can tend to his wounds. thankfully, as the assigned Big Brother of a very irresponsible izzy, alec has experience with first aid, altho he never really dealt with anything quite this bad. and magnus' friends help, too, as much as they can. inevitably this means that alec ends up touching him even if by accident sometimes, but he knows what to expect so he Powers Through It because he won't let magnus die, damn. and as horrible as that is alec has experience with powering through pain, so. he's gonna bandage him up god damn it
izzy can't stand to see him dealing with that himself tho, so she helps, and clary ends up helping as well because they figure sharing the pain makes it easier and alec doesn't have to be too hurt. minimal touching accidents for alec! good
*narrator voice* And Then Magnus Wakes Up And Alec Hugs Him
full on launches on top of him and brings him into his arms and Magnus screams like NONONO OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING ALEC NO GET OFF ME YOU'LL BE HURT and his shock and distress at the whole thing sends another whole blast of magic that explodes that whole mf before it can touch alec and alec feels no pain and magnus is like.............. did i just COUNTER the spell? and everyone's like well! it looks like u did!
which earns him ANOTHER hug (oh my god alec stop he's so stressed out by this) (who knew alec was so touchy?) and this time he's paying attention to that gut reaction and because magnus is a Certified Magic Genius he realizes what it is that he's doing to counter the spell and immediately starts working on a way to turn this into unhexxing himself for good
which he DOES after some time idk how long but alec stays with him meanwhile and maybe izzy and clary do too, because magnus needs all the company he can get and besides, izzy has always wanted adventure and clary has never left the village before, so this is interesting to them at least. and magnus gets to meet new ppl which is nice
eventually the Begone Spell spell is performed and it works and turns out that when it does that it also unfucks magnus' magic and perfects his sentience spell turning all of his friends into humans WOW WHOD HAVE THOUGHT. so all of them are free to leave the tower as ppl at the same time and GROUP HUG!! and magnus cries like a baby in the group hug because holy shit hes been needing something like this so bad for so long and he never expected to have that with his friends but here he is :)
and then yeah they all move to the village to live a simple but fulfilling life and Magnus and Alec start living together in a little cottage and become husbands the end <3 this is so long too rip me
