Ah, “strikes”. I understand... industrial action. *light dawns*. Initially, I read this as something like: “the army should not be distracted by rapid tactical operations in support of other branches of the military. They should be allowed to get on with their day-to-day office and workshop jobs uninterrupted.” 🤷🏻♀️ Hmm. That’s a bit of a new development in military leadership philosophy, I thought to myself. Ho Hum.
That sort of thing happens to me quite a lot. I wonder if I can give it an important name like... no, I probably can’t. It’s the liminal space between culture, language and cognition isn’t it? If it were important, you’d want to have a big interdisciplinary conference with speakers from all the interesting disciplines and subdisciplines (psychology, philosophy, linguistics, medicine, literary theory, logic, cultural studies...). But actually, I’m just like that—I’m slow about some things and not others. I take a while to interpret conventional intention and meaning in context. I always feel that the delay is partly owing to the overwhelming windtunnel of data one gets from encountering a new “voice”—emotion, style, objective meaning, relative intention, subjective agenda, loyalties and character traits—and partly owing to the fact that I immerse myself in uncommon interests (Namibian and Belizean politics, say, rather than British politics). But the truth is I’m just poor at knowing what the rest of the world means when they use ordinary words in shared contexts. Perhaps that helps with the anagrams, tho’, so...not all bad. 🤷🏻♀️
being a kpop stan living in the uk is literally just crying at the fact there’s now a 99% chance you’ll never see your faves live bc england always gets forgotten about :(
Genuinely. People act like their privacy being leaked or disregarded is inevitable with the career they chose and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. It’s not inevitable. It is possible. Don’t share content that you know wasn’t approved. Don’t follow the members around just because “it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity”. Don’t promote sasaeng or paparazzi accounts and give them money and a platform just because “you miss the boys”. The list of “Don’ts” goes on but you get it. If people genuinely respect the members and don’t actively try to invade their privacy then there is no issue. Remember that the members of BTS are human being who have feelings and boundaries. Do better. Take a page out of the UK army this time around because in 2023 it’s seeming harder and harder to find the Army’s who behave in the way the boys hope that we’ll act. RM said we changed and honestly? I agree and it’s not for the better.

And now Sunak has said he wants to re-introduce national service, conscripting our 18-25 year olds into the (checks notes) enormously underfunded and slashed-in-numbers armed forces or into compulsory community service say, in the NHS.
We have more admirals than warships in this country, and as in favour as I am in an improved sense of community, I'm not convinced that a large number of unqualified 18-year-olds can fix the problems the NHS has, what with the MASSIVE UNDERFUNDING the NHS has been experiencing. I'm also not convinced that unqualified 18-year-olds should build us some more warships, which I know isn't what's being suggested here, but I would love to see the results!
Rishi Sunak really did just tweet you don't need uni to be successful in life, clearly trying to defend his plans to fuck up uni degrees.
Like Rishi you can't talk, you literally only got to be rich and successful because you married a rich man's daughter.
