Opinion: Raducanu Had the Best Mindset and Attitude, Which Makes Her a Winner

Despite "losing" in round two of the Australialand Open to a Chinese player, 2021 US Open Champion Emma Raducanu showed far more mental toughness and positive attitude than her opponent, saying afterwards that "There was no way I was going to pull out. She was going to have to beat me - and she did."

The way she carries the flag for British Tennis and said that she would not quit midway through her match makes her the winner of the entire tournament, regardless of how the established scoring system in sports insists the athlete with the best results is supposedly victorious.

The fact that any other competitor in the tournament now feels able to claim victory over her shows what a biased joke organized sport has become.

tbh never not going to piss me off that wales northern ireland and scotland all vote in uk general elections as if our populations combined are anywhere near even just the london area. its so stupid. our votes dont count if england decides to vote another way (proven by in the past england getting the tories in despite scotland wales and northern ireland voting non-tory by a big majority).. dont know how things will change now but it feels like being attached to a big nasty leech. like how are these guys deciding + overruling laws for us you dont even live here

The government has quietly admitted in response to a parliamentary question that progress on banning the use of toxic lead shot for hunting has been delayed again with a decision on the issue not expected until “later this year”, despite it considering restrictions since 2021.

The latest delay comes as research led by the University of Cambridge, in collaboration with WWT and other partners, found that 93% of pheasants destined for human consumption were killed using lead ammunition in the 2023/24 season, despite an industry pledge to phase out the poisonous shot.

The use of lead shot, which is toxic to humans and wildlife, has already been banned in and around wetlands in all 27 EU countries as well as Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein because of its extreme effects on waterbirds. The EU’s chemical regulation agency has proposed that this ban should be extended to all habitats.
