AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS
Urgent Appeal for Action to Address Acute Food Insecurity in Gaza
23 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
Dear President Biden and Members of Congress,
I am writing to you with an urgent appeal regarding the catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity currently plaguing Gaza. According to recent reports from the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, the situation in Gaza has reached a critical point, with thousands of families facing severe hunger and malnutrition due to a lack of access to life-saving supplies.
As you are aware, the people of Gaza have endured years of conflict, blockade, and economic hardship, leading to a dire humanitarian crisis. However, the situation has now reached a breaking point, with the blockade imposed by Israel exacerbating an already dire situation.
Despite repeated calls from the international community to lift the blockade and allow vital humanitarian aid into Gaza, Israel continues to restrict access to essential supplies, including food, medicine, and fuel. This blockade not only violates the basic human rights of the Palestinian people but also contravenes international law and humanitarian principles.
As a global leader committed to promoting human rights and humanitarian values, I urge you to take immediate action to address the acute food insecurity in Gaza. Specifically, I call on you to:
1. Use your diplomatic influence to pressure Israel to lift the blockade and allow unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, and other essential supplies.
2. Support efforts to provide emergency food assistance to those in Gaza who are most vulnerable and in need.
3. Work with international partners and relevant stakeholders to address the underlying causes of food insecurity in Gaza, including poverty, unemployment, and the ongoing conflict.
4. Advocate for a just and lasting resolution that respects the rights and dignity of all parties involved.
Furthermore, I urge you to work with Congress to prioritize this issue and allocate necessary resources to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Time is of the essence, and swift action is needed to prevent further suffering and loss of life.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I trust that you will do everything in your power to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza and uphold the principles of human rights and humanitarianism.

And yet another UN resolution for ceasefire failed because the U.S. repeatedly vetoed it until the resolution wording didn’t even mention a temporary ceasefire, let alone a permanent one. The US government is intentionally prolonging this suffering, there is absolutely no arguing that at this point.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — More than half a million people in Gaza — a quarter of the population — are starving, according to a report Thursday by the U.N. and other agencies that highlights the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s bombardment and siege on the territory in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. The extent of the population’s hunger eclipsed even the near-famines in Afghanistan and Yemen of recent years, according to figures in the report. The report warned that the risk of famine is “increasing each day,” blaming the hunger on insufficient aid entering Gaza. “It doesn’t get any worse,’’ said Arif Husain, chief economist for the U.N.’s World Food Program. “I have never seen something at the scale that is happening in Gaza. And at this speed.” ... At the start of the war, Israel stopped all deliveries of food, water, medicine and fuel into the territory. After U.S. pressure, it allowed a trickle of aid in through Egypt. But U.N. agencies say only 10% of Gaza’s food needs has been entering for weeks. (Dec. 21, 2023 | Source)

AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS
'No life here’: Israel’s army withdraws from Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital
33 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!
The U.S. must enact its own and international humanitarian law to bring justice and help to Palestinians.
The Israeli occupation forces' recent withdrawal from Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital has left the facility in ruins, following a two-week operation.
The operation is described as one of the most successful by Israeli occupation forces, who have shown over and over again that it has no regard for human life and can kill and slaughter innocents without any accountability.
Once again, a large number of Palestinians who sought shelter in this hospital find themselves displaced.
Disturbing images are emerging, including the one that depicts the hand of a Palestinian body that was run over by Isreali tanks and bulldozers in the Al-Shifa Hospital area, discovered only after the the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the area.
In a video clip recorded by an Israeli occupation force, who sings as dead bodies are moved around with a bulldozer, displaying no dignity even for the dead.
This massacre at the Al-Shifa Hospital is a horrific violation of human rights happening within the two Abrahamic faiths most scared time of the year: Ramadhan and Easter.
The undersigners of this letter condemn all forms of genocide and war crimes and advocate for Palestinians' rights and justice.
We demand the Biden Administration to crucially reconsider the U.S.'s support for such actions and instead the U.S. should pave the way in liberating Palestine with UN peacekeepers to ensure a lasting ceasefire leading to justice and stability for Palestinians.
The U.S. should be cutting ties to an unbending Netanyahu government and focusing on ending the racist apartheid. This can only be achieved if the U.S. resasserts its moral standing and defunds and divests and apply sanctions to Israel.
This approach aligns with the commitment to uphold human rights and international laws.

I'm actually really surprised by some of these.
Ukraine abstained. Croatia was against. The UK and most of Scandinavia had NO OPINION.
Poland abstained? Poland.
I guess the important thing is that it passed.

The United Nations General Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution calling for an “immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce” between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza. It also demands “continuous, sufficient and unhindered” provision of lifesaving supplies and services for civilians trapped inside the enclave, as news reports suggest Israel has expanded ground operations and intensified it bombing campaign.
Remember who stood back and had nothing to say while this genocide is unfolding in front of us.
