As Palestinians in Gaza seeking to escape the Israel-Hamas war begin applying to come here through a special immigration program, immigration lawyers say Ottawa is asking for an unprecedented level of personal information from prospective migrants. "It's strikingly different than what is ordinarily required for a visitor visa application," said immigration lawyer Pantea Jafari. "[The federal government] is asking for significantly more information than any of those applications, and even more than any permanent resident's application." This week, the federal government launched a new program to permit up to 1,000 Palestinians who are extended family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to apply to come to Canada and stay for three years if their families can support them financially.

Let's take a minute to talk about why argument often made by Zionists that Palestinians can "just move to other arab countries" is actually really bad, ignoring for one second that Palestinians are. Well. From Palestine.

1) It's forced displacement. It's forcing people out from their homes or their entire land to someplace else, with no choice. Plain and simple. Those who stay are killed or heavily persecuted, but those who leave are often traumatised either by what caused them to be displaced (war, genocide, etc) or by the displacement itself, have to restart their lives in a region their often unfamiliar with, and much more. 2) The situation of Palestinian refugees, even in arab countries, is bad. Not only do a majority of them live in poverty- either because of the economic crisis that a lot of these countries are going through or because of the higher risk of being unemployed [link]- but they are also not safe there, either due to discrimination or the Zionist occupation funding attacks in those countries as well, or trying to occupy them themselves. Of course this doesn't matter to them, they just want Palestinians gone from the land, but it's important to point out how harmful this idea is and how it doesn't help Palestinians at all, unlike how they pretend it will.

Egypt is forcing innocent Palestinians to remain in a war zone.

There is plenty of open space in the Sinai Peninsula to accommodate Palestinian refugees, and there are plenty of other countries that would give sanctuary to Palestinian refugees.

Egypt however will not allow Palestinian refugees to leave Gaza.

Did you know that many countries that had declared neutrality in WW2 received Jewish refugees? Like Denmark and Sweden.

Also, did you know that many of the Allies refused to accept Jewish refugees on the grounds of suspecting they were spies?

It's not hard to believe, after all, we as a society seem to prefer the version of the one being violent just like right now we are refusing to help Palestinians.
