all the terrible terrible things that happened in DP but got glossed over because it's a cartoon show (aka the source of all the phandom's horror inspirations)
Dissection (mentioned several times. attempted by Maddie Masters although it was more of a threaten for answers kind of thing. also attempted by Vlad to determine why Dani lasted longer than other clones)
Brainwash (Plantwash by Undergrowth via invasive plant tentacles, Musicwash by Ember's music)
Possession (out of context of cartoon shows, if someone loses autonomy to an unknown someone else controlling their body, this would be terrifying. this happened on massive scale in this cartoon show several times and more frequently on smaller scale) (Freakshow's red orb staff fits here more than in the Brainwash section)
Spectra's quest for immortal youth (because this is a kid's show, instead of bathing in virgin's blood for immortal youth like Bathory, Spectra made do with binging on teenagers' emotions. depression isn't a joke but Spectra hands it out like candy)
Can it be gore if there's no red? all the ghosts that were implied to have been caught by the Fentons, the GIW, and Vlad for the purpose of experimentation to develop their ectoequipments (bonus: the melted Danny clones that were implied sentient and aware)
Dehumanization (all the ghost hunters did this to validate their actions. Vlad where did you draw your mental line between the melted Danny clones and the prime clone?)
the Mutant Food (the Fentons are lucky that those things haven't gained enough intelligence to take over their weapon stash yet. re: crab with a knife)
Cannibalism?? (this one is debatable since all the materials in ghost zone are made out of ectoplasm, are all ghosts the same species? where's the line drawn at?)
OSHA violations (let's see.. resulted in the creation of Vlad Plasmius, Danny Phantom, mutant food. possibly an on-going process of creating a haunted FentonWorks except Danny is already haunting FW.) (also ectoplasm glows. is it radioactive? highly mutagenic- see: mutant food. the Fentons claims their ectoweapons are safe but they're wearing hazmats, the people they sometimes accidentally shoot ectoplasmic goo at don't have hazmat protective suits) (do they have proper disposal protocols? or are they polluting Amity Park with highly mutagenic and likely radioactive ectoplasm?)
Technus' world domination (why wait for AI domination like skynet and the matrix when we have Technus)- this one is underutilized plot but Technus can become a high level threat without proper counter (reminder: he had access to nuclear weapons for a hot minute)
the Plasmius-Phantom merge into Dan/Dark Danny/Dark Phantom (they just merged grieving kid's soul with the soul of an old man obsessed with the kid's mom, is it any wonder that they didn't come out sane?)
Danny's repeated deaths (death by portal zap count: 2)
the time GIW tried to nuke Ghost Zone (and consequently, the Reality out of sheer ignorance)
The reblog with Vlad's list of crimes here

Just went through your Phantom Redux tag and I like it so far!
I'm kinda curious about the Fenton family in this concept now. Any major changes from the original you'd like to share?
Yup!

When MILF meets DILF (Apologies for the awkward Jack design, I am bad at drawing large lads, this design is not final)
A lot of the core of the OG family will remain more or less the same, but like with Jazz slight tweaks need to be made to match the newer dynamics of the story.
Like in the OG series, Jack and Maddie are a couple obsessed with ghosts and ghost-hunting, despite never having found a ghost. I do have slight backstories for them this time, but these are details that would mainly exist in the background and probably won't ever come to the forefront.
For Maddie she had always been interested in ghosts, growing up in the swamps countless myths and stories were told to her and she had numerous encounters that made her adamant that ghosts were real. She studied hard and eventually got into a prestigious college on a scholarship, where she first met Jack and Vlad, and the story from there is the same as in the show.
She is loving, supportive, and fiercely protective of her children, and this in itself fuels her desire to hunt ghosts. From an early age she was taught to fear ghosts and other supernatural entities, and she wants to protect her family from any threats that may arise. However, ironically, it's this obsession with protection that makes her more absent from her kids lives than she probably should be. Even after Danny's accident, she still is obsessed with fighting ghosts, and the fact that tangible ghost threats show up shortly after certainly doesn't help.
She is sensitive to the fact that Danny and Jazz have grown distant, but is assuming that they're just rebelling as teens do. Still, it does kind of hurt the way Jazz doesn't seem to respect her work, and how neither kids seem interested in ghost-hunting, and as the story goes on this tension will only build.
Jack, on the other hand, is from old money, a family of ultra-rich and successful scientists, but like Maddie he developed an intense fascination with ghosts that wouldn't go away no matter what his family tried. He was also friends with Vlad from a very early age, who also came from a wealthy family and shared his interest in ghosts, but knew how to keep it on the down-low. They went to college together, and when Jack made it clear that he wasn't ever giving up on ghosts, the family decided that the best thing to do would just be to give him a massive lump-sum of money on the condition that he change his last name and never bring them up again. This is meant to explain how Jack got into the same fancy college as Maddie and Vlad despite being less competent, why you never see Jack's side of the family, and how the Fenton's are able to afford all of their facilities even before it turns out that ghosts are real. Like I said, though, this will primarily exist in the background, although as you can probably already tell it does also play into Vlad's backstory a bit~
Jack is loud, boisterous, and overwhelmingly positive. He isn't stupid, as many consider him to be, but he is extremely scatterbrained and will often miss the smaller details. He loves his kids and is passionate about sharing his work, but is more understanding of their lack of interest in ghost-hunting given his own break from his family. To him, it's much more important that his kids are around and happy than that they follow in their footsteps, something that he will often help remind Maddie of. He has a slightly better relationship with Jazz because of this, as Jazz sees him as incompetent but well-meaning, but for reasons he doesn't understand Danny is even more distant with him than with Maddie. The reason for this is because while Jack isn't a bad person and is certainly more open-minded than his parents, he is still very old-fashioned, especially when it comes to gender roles and traditional masculinity. On top of this, while both Danny's parents misgender him, being unaware that he is trans, Jack is more likely to use specifically gendered language like "That's my girl", while Maddie tends to use terms like "honey" or "sweetie," which is more gender-neutral.
Jack is somewhat aware of his old-fashioned behavior and will often ask and try to understand his families experiences as woman, but since Danny isn't one, this just further drives a wedge between the two.
As a unit Jack and Maddie are hell-bent on fighting ghosts, not just researching them, and this is the biggest difference between them and Team Phantom. Danny originally also believes that all ghosts are evil, and though he and Tucker invent the thermos to put the ghosts back in the Ghost Zone, this is less out of altruistic reasons and more because Danny simply lacks the ability to destroy ghosts at the beginning of the series. However over time they learn that evil ghosts are a small minority of ghosts, and the majority of them just want to be left alone. Over time Team Phantom will pivot it's approach from fighting ghosts, to understanding them and what their needs are, as even violent ghosts can become docile and even friendly if the right conditions are met. But meanwhile, Maddie and Jack are still hunting ghosts, and thus while at first Danny could at least try to cooperate behind his secret identity, he eventually becomes actively opposed to them, as does Jazz, making life in the Fenton household even more stressful as the story goes on...

Dani looks so joyful flying into the sunset in both Kindred Spirits and D-Stabilized, I think she must have been really cooped up when she was with Vlad. Maybe he didn’t let her out much because he wanted to keep her a secret and retain control over her?
Danny and Dani both have an interest in space, which I think is reflective of a natural inclination for exploration. But I think they develop different obsessions bc while space is Danny’s interest he spends most of his emotional energy worrying over Amity Park’s safety, thus developing a protection Obsession.
Meanwhile -if I’m correct- for the very short span of time that constitute’s Dani’s whole life, the emotional tension is about her staying with Vlad being “loved” but restricted VS her leaving Vlad but being free.
#space Danny is cool but I prefer protection obsession just bc I think it’s really interesting that#in the show#Danny giving up ghost hunting goes hand in hand with giving up his ghost powers#like if he stays half ghost that part of him will not allow him to stand by#headcanon#Dani phantom meta#danny phantom

I really love Reds design... Does he have a bat form by chance? 🥺
OMG YOU DO!! I'm obsessed w him but always figure most people don't look at him twice
He does not..! That species of vampire are very simple and closer to human than most, and as a running joke a lot of human myths were based on misconceptions cuz I think it's sooo funny. Though vampires turning to bats is common in the fae vampire species I have that shapeshift between a human like form and an animal form, Red's species lack this.
Lore dump tho:
For Red's species they're vampires who can be born as vampiric and turn later in life naturally, or be turned by drinking vampiric blood. Originally, they lived with humans in a co-relationship as they are compatible, with vampires providing protection and humans providing a source of food. Vampire x vampire babies are more likely to turn too early in development but with human genes in the pool they tend to turn later in adulthood.
Unfortunately 1000s of years ago humans started fearing vampires from other tales of vampires, and humans from other places came to where these vampires were, convinced the others they were dangerous, and drove them out. Now they're forced to live in hiding or try to blend into human society.
The unique attribute to his species is their starvation mode, when they're starving they have a small physical transformation and their brain shuts down most rational thought, reverting to a sort of feral mind. They gain heat vision and strength to help them locate food and it wears off after they've eaten.
The common Hollywood style vampire is actually a meme for their community (they have a vampire social media you can only join if a vampire on the site invites you and they're very strict about it) and they lovingly call it "Vlad".
#text#msask#long post#i think the only supernatural lore i kept was them resurrecting#but only insanely powerful anx old vampires can do that one

For me is how the show has very interesting concepts that for one reason or another they couldn't live to its full potential.
For starters: Danny is half human/ half ghost. In the series this doesn't get explored in detail but it is shown that a lot of the ghosts in the series are dead and are manifestations of human emotions and alike in the first episodes.
Take Princess Dora for example, she is confirmed to be the ghost of a princess on one of the episodes. This happens to other ghosts as well, like Sidney, Desiree and Ember. All these things are pretty interesting concepts for a animated children/family show if you asked me. The idea of the afterlife, death and ghosts...
Having this in mind, would this make Danny ¨half dead¨ too? Can he die? Is he immortal? All these ideas are very fun to explore in fandom.
Another thing i like about the shows are the main antagonists and how they relate to Danny.
For anyone who follows my blog, you'll know that i really like Vlad Masters/Plasmius. As you can see from the gif, he is a half ghost-half human just like Danny- he was meant to be his foil in every way possible.
What i like about Vlad is that, unlike other animated main villains from other shows, he isn't obsessed with ruling over the world or conquest- i mean, he has that as a extra goal- but he is someone who is trapped over what happened in his own past- an incident in which Danny's parents were involved. Because of this he feels extra personal as antagonist- he isn't someone that just fights against Danny- he has a connection to Danny's family and his parents. This, in my personal opinion, is a lot more interesting that what i'm used to see in other animated shows i have watched.
Other antagonist character i really like is Valerie Gray. She is similar to Vlad in some ways but she is more sympathetic and ¨more good¨. She would be an anti-hero in a way.
It takes some episodes but she becomes a ghost hunter over time because Danny accidentally ruins her life. She blames Phantom and ghosts for making her miserable and trains so she can protect other people and hunt Phantom.
She has a very interesting relationship with Danny/Phantom, as it is a rather friendenemy /enemies to loves relationship. I don't want to spoil much so lets just say that it changes a lot through the series and it is pretty cool to see.
There are many other cool aspects, like how Danny's parents are ghosthunters and haunt Phantom without knowing that he is Danny, or Danny's relationship with her sister Jazz.
There is some solid development in the show and ideas that makes it worth of watching as i explained, but what is great is how the fandom expands and works in these ideas, making the show and its lore a lot more bigger than it is in series canon.
Tumblr is almost making me go watch Danny Phantom
What is it that you guys are so obsessed with this ghost boy?

I feel like, with Ra's years of knowledge and our flippancy with canon (it can and will be my bitch and I shall pick and choose what canon I'm eating at the moment) Ra's will 100% adjust how he handles Danny and Damian's continued training.
With Bruce's son, his new heir, Ra's, while still teaching how to be a proper Assassin and everything, would have him come to think of Danny as his personal guard, his "demon" to command and control.
And Danny, whose had years under Ra's, (training and killing and becoming someone so highly respected and feared) and is a little (a lot) unhinged with his family and friends' passing, will do everything in his power to keep Damian safe. He has only Damian now. Damian is all that matters. He is all Danny will live and die for. And he will protect him with everything in his being and beyond.
Ra's plays on Danny's feelings, on his obsession with keeping Damian safe. And if he sees more of Danny's ghostly side? His eyes glowing green, his fangs and claws lengthening, his hissing and need for skin-on-skin contact if Damian is hurt to heal him (cause I hc that Danny, with his ice core, can heal like the Yeti's can)? Damian has a powerful protector. A powerful beast only he can control (Ra's can tell, anything Damian asks for, speaks of or even hints of wanting, Danny will do everything and more to get it for his Little Sol, his North Star, his reason for living)
I feel like, after losing everyone he loved and before Danny asked Vlad to yank his humanity out, assassins were sent to end Vlad, since Ra's is technically an eco-terrorist at his "core" and Vlad has def done a fuckload of shady deals to get that rich that fast. And Vlad, who under normal circumstances, would be able to take them out easily, dies protecting Danny.
Danny, seeing the last person who knew and cared about him cut down so easily, just begs to be killed, too. But the assassins weren't here for Danny. They got their target, took their proof (a finger or something), and left.
Danny, in a moment of deep depressive grief, follows. It's how he found Ra's originally, and got Ra's interested in him.
"Talia, he followed my most loyal and perceptive assassins without their knowledge. I will have him. Bring him to me." Ra's murmured, green eyes glinting.
It spirals there. Ra's can fake til he makes it better than anyone. A gentle voice here. A soft headpat there. Quiet affirmations. Letting Danny 'catch him' being soft. Very much following @halfagone 's story where Ra's is intrigued by Danny when he visits Amity Park after his other daughters' death.
But he doesn't have to steal Danny away. Danny came to him willingly.
Danny develops an obsession with pleasing Ra's. He wasn't his father, but... But Danny never really had a grandpa.
A Grandfather. Ra's was his Grandfather.
Ra's is very pleased with this.
And then Talia rapes takes Bruce's sperm and Damian is made.
The moment Danny's eyes land on Damian, a new obsession forms. That child was his to protect. His to cherish. His to care for.
Ra's was extra pleased. Another neatly crafted fold to his origami plan for World Domination from the shadows. Daniel would never leave him. Would do everything for his little brother, his Center, his North Star. All according to plan.
I feel like this would pair really well with the Son of Batman start where Slade comes in and kills Ra's, making Talia send Danny off with Damian to protect him. Sending Damian to Bruce. And instead of Bruce nearly fucking Talia in front of Damian like in the movie, Danny just shows up in front of the manor with Damian cuddled against his chest.
For this I feel like Danny would definitely follow in Jack's shoes of being a brick shit-house in height, but with major hints of Maddie; all slim muscles built for stealth and hidden strength. He'd probably be around 6'6" with Dicks build:

Like this but tall af. Just, tiny 4' nothing Damian curled up against Danny's chest is the big picture I got going on in my head, wearing a button down shirt and jeans with LoA shoes.
And then we get into big plot points for the story:
- Damian wants revenge on Slade for Ra's death
- Danny butting heads with Dick and Bruce about raising Damian
- Introducing the rest of the family to Damian, who doesn't have a complex about being Robin. He was raised to be the next Demon's Head, why would he want to be Robin?
- Danny knew Jason when he was training with the League, Jason loves him. Danny is also the reason that Jason's Pit Madness was curbed so easily, but Danny didn't care if Jason went full bonkers when he made it to Gotham. Not his problem.
More if I can think of it! I now have... Ideas...
I got a take on the Danny is Damian's older brother au. He's Damian's brother but he's his adopted brother. So hear me out:
Danny is running away post TUE and he encounters some assassins. For whatever reason they get into a fight and he beats them. This ends up getting back to Ra's who is quite curious about who beat up his most prized assassins effortlessly. After some investigation, he extends an invite for Danny to train under him. On Danny's part, he jumps at the chance to disappear off the face of the earth and have a free place to stay.
Danny ends up being an absolute prodigy. This is him close to being Dan so his morals are much shakier. He doesn't leap at the opportunity to kill, but he's most definitely not above it if need be. Combine that with his ghost powers and personal training by Ra's himself and the guy becomes like the golden standard within the league. So much so to the point where Ra's even names him his heir and adopts him. Though Danny insists he is his adopted grandson and not adopted son.
Flashforward to Damian being born and Ra's obviously wants him to be his new heir. Not that Danny has any problem with this. He's very clearly Ra's favorite considering the things he's allowed to get away with. Like letting targets go, having worldly possessions in his room (TV, gaming console, computer, etc), and even befriending his subordinates (Ra's particularly doesn't like that one but knows Danny will never allow it to become a weakness for him). Even if Danny wasn't the heir, he would still maintain a significant level of authority within the league (again not that he cares about having power as long as there's a roof over his head).
The problem is, Damian can't compete with Danny. After all, who could match up to a highly trained half ghost with dubious morals? Let alone a kid. Too bad Ra's doesn't see it that way. He sees Damian as a failure who will never measure up to Danny. That's why he sends the boy off to live with his father. It's under the excuse that he'll be receiving a different sort of training but in reality, the Demon Head no longer wants anything to do with his biological grandson.
Obviously this turns into quite the complex for Damian. Meanwhile Danny absolutely adores Damian. From the moment he was introduced to the baby he was ecstatic. He'd always wanted to be an older brother. He would constantly be barging into Damian's room to hang out and whenever they'd sparred together, he'd try to let him win. Ra's quickly caught onto that one and put a stop to it immediately though. Basically Danny is Damian's League of Assassins version of Dick. An example of what he's supposed to be that he will always compare himself to (and that also has no idea what personal space is).
Danny loved his little brother so much that he even managed to get a mission to Gotham about a year after Damian had been sent there in order to surprise him with a belated birthday present.
The bats are absolutely shocked with an assassin suddenly charges at Damian and before anyone can react, scoops him into a hug. Damian is screeching bloody murder as he attempts to get Danny to let him go. Danny is just hugging him while saying stuff like "I missed you little brother" and "You've grown so much since I last saw you" all while avoiding knives to the chest.
The bats get shocked x2 because wait.... little brother!? Talia had another child!? And one far older than Damian to boot. Damian is quick to clarify that Danny is adopted while still trying to stab him. Imagine the boy's horror and Danny's delight when he gets invited back to the batcave to speak further.

Part of what defines a ghost’s appearance is not only how they perceive themselves but how they desired to be perceived by others. Half ghosts are no different.
Vlad Masters/Plasmius is obsessed with power and control both of which reflect in his human and ghostly forms. Fear is a certain kind of power, a control over his victim’s basic instincts that he relishes which is why over time his ghost form becomes more and more creepy. His skin fades to an inhuman, suffocated blue color and his eyes beam an unnatural, neon red. He grows fangs and underneath his gloves, his nails curl into claws. His outfit was chosen because it exudes confidence, power and authority.
Sometimes these features bleed over into Masters, especially when he’s trying to scare someone. A business is refusing to sell to the billionaire will notice that the man’s teeth seem sharper than is normal. He grips someone’s hand to shake and it’s not only strong but sharp nails cut into the skin. Sometimes you catch him in the wrong light and his skin has a bluish tint like he’s a walking corpse instead of a man.
Danny Fenton/Phantom is obsessed with protection, usually of his town but he himself often falls under that umbrella. He seeks to protect his identity more than anything out a reasonable fear for his life and freedom. Danny Fenton wants people to overlook him, to be invisible so that they don’t see anything out of the ordinary with him. His features are painfully average, any scars or distinguishing features from his ghost fights either disappear outright or get ignored. He hides in plain sight, his ghostly nature causing other people to look the other way when they really ought to pay attention to what’s going on with him.
Danny Phantom meanwhile, very consciously acts the opposite of his human counterpart to keep up the illusion of being separate people. He glows brightly, more than some of the other ghosts to emphasize his ghostly abilities. His facial features are faded and sometimes hard to discern, a clear attempt to avoid recognition. But despite how ghostly he looks, he makes sure not to lean too far into unlike Vlad. He wants to be their hero, their protector, and to do so, he can’t frighten them. It’s why he won’t develop fangs or unnatural coloring or features. He wants to look as human, as comforting as possible so the people he’s saving won’t run in fear of him. He’ll update and upgrade his costume, age appropriately but he never wants to look anything but a strangely colored, glowing human.
#danny phantom#danny phantom meta#been doing some thinking on ghost appearance#Vlad *wants* to be feared and to have that control over people#thus he looks creepy#its both a conscious choice and just a reflection of his personality#danny meanwhile wants to be a hero and heroes dont scare those they protect#i see fanart of danny with fangs and blue skin and god i love it on an aesthetic level#but I just feel like Danny would be so afraid of becoming too ghostly (IE looking like dark dan) that he would ensure he never got too scary#he doesnt know his sorta but not really human appaearance really sets off uncanny valley for people#also!!! Fenton just wants to hide#he wants to quietly live his life when not phantom#it would explain why so much of his strange behavior is overlooked#people find their eyes just passing over him even if he's fully visible#people who know him and are actively thinking of him won't#but it would do a great deal to explain why he's been able to fly (ha) under the radar#vlas wants to intimdate but danny wants to be unnoticed#anyone else notice Danny's desire for popularity fades as the series continues?#thats his obsession and ghost instincts kicking in#phantom wants to protect humans fenton is human and should be protected#he might not be safe if exposed so! make sure no one finds out#ok Im rambling see ya bye

Hi! Connected to DannyMay... I'm not really familiar with AU names/titles, either with AUs much. Could you help me out a bit? It sounds fun, but nothing comes to my mind if I think about those. Is there a list for those maybe? Maybe about the popular ones? What those mean? Thank you for your help! :)
If you don't want to submit any AU's, you don't have to! The poll is entirely optional, and many people are just submitting 3 general prompts. When the poll closes and the calendar is posted, any AUs we choose for the event will come with descriptions for people!
But if you want to browse them to submit, here's a bunch of popular DP AUs/HCs under the cut that I got off the top of my head.
Fangs: Self explanatory. Danny has fangs because ghost.
No One Knows AU: A "what if?" scenario exploring a universe where Danny was alone on the accident (aka no Sam and Tucker). As you can imagine, this has great potential for angst.
Corpse AU: A scenario where when halfas die, they leave behind a body. Usually the plot revolves around either the DP trio hiding/burying the body, or someone/cops finding the body in the woods somehow!
Dual Obsession AU: This is a scenario where Danny has two ghostly obsessions tying him down to Earth: an obsession with protection (or something similar) and a more innocent one about space. Typically, his space obsession involves a shift in his appearance and powers as well. Great potential for both fluff and angst with this one.
Monster Appearance: Honestly not quite sure what the actual name for this one is, but a lot of people like to play with a situation where Danny's ghostly form is a lot more inhuman looking.
Hazmat AU: Along the previous lines, this is a scenario where Danny's parents actually follow lab safety protocol and so Danny dies in a real hazmat suit, hood/mask and all.
Portal AU: This is a situation where Danny becomes the portal when he dies. He essentially throws up ghosts.
Ghost King: This is a headcannon where Danny becomes the ghost king after defeating Pariah Dark.
Season 4: Not really an AU, people more just like to picture/write about their take on what the future of Danny Phantom would be like (either including or ignoring the season 3 finale episode).
Field Trip: A headcannon where people like to have Danny and his class take a field trip, usually to the Ghost Zone, sometimes to other places too. Usually involves Danny's class getting stranded somewhere and Danny secretly (with varying levels of success) try to figure out how to get his class home without outing himself.
Full Ghost AU: Also self-explanatory. During the accident, Danny turns into a full ghost.
Human AU: An AU where Danny starts out a full ghost, and the portal accident turns him into a human/halfa (Half Human AU in this case).
Halfa Jack AU: A situation based off that episode of DP where Jack, not Vlad, gets in the initial accident. Usually involves Danny being raised by Vlad/Maddie.
Dissection: A headcannon where Danny gets dissected by either his parents or the Guys in White. I like to call these "dissecc" but that's just me.
Ghost Hunger AU: A dark and typically angsty scenario where Danny must consume ectoplasm to feed his core. Some people go a less-angsty route where ambient ectoplasm, or ecto-fruits/veggies will satisfy this. Others go a more cannibalistic route.
Reverse Trio AU: An AU which "reverses" the roles of the trio. Typically portrayed as Sam being the halfa, Danny being the geek, and Tucker being the goth.
Electric Core AU: A scenario where because Danny dies via electricity, instead of developing ice powers (and a 'cold core'), he's given electricity powers (aka an 'electric core).
Well, that's all I can think of right now. I might add more to this list if it comes to me. Lemme know if I forgot anything.

No, that's a fair argument.
I'm just implying that while there's both a mutual focus on Dan and Vlad, we tend to blacklist one development because of the other.
Dan as a character is the conglomeration of both ghost halves becoming one. But the caveat of the ghosts' obsessions combining as well is the focal point that both completely failed.
Phantom's stability and protection with Plasmius' comfort and ambition made for an acrid mental state. They lost both reasons for existing, and couldn't get them back.
Dan's initial reaction to his fusion is extreme, but warranted. Taking out the one who caused his initial turmoil in the first place, and then proceeding to take the world down with it (teenage guilt and angst pinning the blame on society for his current situation).
The resulting apocalypse is more akin to a powered tantrum. Yes, I'm probably underselling it, but Vlad never really grew out of his clinging attitude to Jack and Maddie, even attempting to use it to his advantage. Dan, meanwhile, focused his efforts on preserving his existence in the timeline, though TUE only did it from Danny's POV, which is fine. The antagonistic nature is a result of everything being against him, so why should he show courtesy?
Krossan shows off a fantastic interaction with Dan and his original self plus their sisters, because he has them back, but has spent so long in his obsessions that they are only still buddies back out.
Though now that I think about it... has Krossan ever shown Dan's interaction with Jack and Maddie?
this is my open letter to the people who harassed me over the years, trying to "cancel" my DP AU saying I was doing the character wrong.
"Go on. READ it. I'll wait for your return."

Character Characterization in Ghost Biology is Weird AU
It's ya Tumblr redacted gender here (this joke will age very well totally yes)
catch up in the master post [here]
I think I forgot to mention this because it's such a given to how I write Danny but Danny is trans; other traits I write, he has chronic pain, ADD and i write him stimming which can be either or both ADD/autistic things (and probably other things idk I'm no expert) i have ADD myself so I'm writing my experience, I'm not autistic to my knowledge so all I've deliberately done when writing him is give him stims; his stims aren't always healthy, he bites as a stim and tends to bite his hands or tail (very hard, especially when ghost. He will make himself bleed) but Sam or Tucker can usually redirect him to something else like a pillow or whatever; he also stops himself from hand flapping (usually) but he does do it; and shoves his hands against his ears and grinds his teeth sometimes when stressed (he's always grinding his teeth in ghost fights); oh right and he has a death scar as a ghost that he feels in both forms (Lichtenberg spirals/fractals from his hand across his chest to his opposite leg and foot)
in this AU I've given Danny two (2) obsessions as a teen, Space and Control; i love me some protection obsession Danny don't get me wrong I just went with this for this AU to make Vlad and Danny better foils because
Vlad has (3) obsessions in this AU Research and Control and Family
Vlad has only shown up once so far, alas, but he is running around doing things
Danielle's initial Obsession is Family, during the events of Kindred Spirits she develops a Control Obsession; I intend for her to keep two Obsessions until adulthood
once Danny has his baby his ghost side matures to adult and he starts developing a new obsession; right now I'm not set on what it is. It might be protection or it might be something else
Danny and his baby (Baby Phantom until they awaken/are born and Danny names them Neil) are both ice core; Vlad is fire core; Danni is a wind core
I think I mentioned it before but anyone that lives in Amity Park might be liminal. To elaborate, if they live within Danny's haunt (amity park and parts of elmerton and the rural outskirts) and are claimed by Danny then they WILL be liminal to some extent. If someone lives in Amity Park (Danny's Haunt specifically) but hasn't been claimed by Danny they can still become liminal due to ectoplasm levels but it's just a chance thing. in the case of Danny claiming them, the haunt is literally infusing itself into them to give itself more influence. It's entirely subconscious and beyond Danny's control (the haunts are the ghosts in this au, sort of, and haunts act as a kind of immune system)
So 'Team Phantom' are all liminal.
The only person that is aware of their liminality as of the beginning of this AU is Valerie Gray. She's liminal enough that she's starting to develop an obsession which does not necessarily mean a liminal person has a core, but they probably do; Valerie is liminal enough she's starting to infuse her dad's apartment with her energies during sophomore year; Danny cedes her dad's apartment (a bigger area than just the apartment or the complex, a lot of territory for someone without a core but not enough to make Valerie drain herself sick) to her and it starts the process of becoming her haunt; it's a much much slower process than it was for Danny for multiple reasons
Ghosts have family groups called Fraids (which Danny doesn't really know about because he has no ghost parents to teach him these things) and Fraids consist of Family-By-Birth, Family-By-Choice, Family-By-Theft and Family-By-Nest; I think the first two are fairly self explanatory; i'm also p sure the phandom has a better grasp of Family-By-Theft than I do;
Family-By-Nest is the term I'm using for ghosts that join together to raise children, it's a very specific thing that happens when a new ghost is born/awakens; when the new core is ready it reaches outside of itself seeking protection and care, any one that responds by offering and accepting this becomes bound to the baby and to a lesser extent anyone else that accepted the baby; in Danny and Neil's specific case, Danny had been storing a LOT of extra power (since y'know he's OP like that) and it gave all of his fellow parents-by-nest their own cores once the process finished.
Danny's fellow parents-by-nest are Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Danielle, Valerie and Dash
Jazz and Danielle are family. Entirely and totally absolutely platonic siblings. Jazz family-by-birth and Danielle family-by-theft.
Danny is polyamorous (prefers polyam over poly) and bi and ace (not sex repulsed, he likes romance and making out best but is cool with other more intense stuff); his partners (in something like a 'normal' dating relationship) are Sam and Dash (they are with Danny only not with each other); they don't have a label for their thing but Tucker is aro/ace and if he knew the term would be cool being called Sam and Danny's queer platonic partner (QPP); Valerie and Danny have been hate-flirting for years, I'm just calling it pitch, sorry. Val and Danny are pitch, they just have no idea what the feelings are or mean up until Rivalry [on AO3 here] and even then only Valerie gets something like an explanation of what it is.
This is already so long again. Uh. Right, core types and obsessions.
Dash, earth core, romance obsession [his obsession actually forms before his full core]
Sam, growth core, night obsession
Valerie, electric core, protection obsession
Jazz, fire core, research obsession
Danielle, wind core, family and control obsession
Danny, ice core, space, control obsession with 3rd forming
Neil Fenton (Baby Phantom), ice core, space obsession (@floralflowerpower has way more fleshed out ideas about baby ghosts and things, she uses the term nursery obsession to refer to babies imprinting an obsession from parents her stuff is super cool you should check it out)
And I suppose I'll end with a description of Neil. They're half ghost like Dad, when human they have red hair and purple eyes (because it's not cloning it's recombination of DNA and to simplify irl red hair is the most recessive and I decided purple eyes are as/more recessive than green, ergo Danny carries those genes even if they don't express for him); when first born they have pale blue skin, pointed ears green hair and (glowing) green eyes. After meeting Frostbite they imprint on him as family-by-choice and after that when ghost they get lil horns and their arm gets spooky translucent green with charred bones in it
Oh spirits i haven't even described adult!Danny eff. Okay this is what I'll end with (i hope)
This change happens literally when what's left of the energy he instinctively collected and then pushed into family-by-nest and Neil returns to him
Human he's as tall as Jack (6'9") and built like a long distance runner. He looks like an adult in their mid twenties (before he still looked just as 14 as he had when he died);
Ghost, when he's got legs he's 7' when he's got a tail he gets to be a long noodle boi as a treat (like, absurdly long if he had a mane of hair ppl would totally call him a dragon like an eastern style one) I'm imagining like 30ft tail but the exact length isn't important, him long boi is what important;
he's got icy blue skin, pointed ears now, and a forked tongue (he's had lil fangs as a teen and has bigger fangs now) the fangs are blunted not sharp, he has to use force to break skin can't do that on accident or well he can but it's not because he forgot his fangs are sharp it's because he did it to himself and his pain tolerance is stupid high and he didn't notice how much force he was using; he's never going to be that distracted with a partner to accidentally bite Sam or Dash and it's not an accident with Val
His Phantom jumpsuit/hazmat suit changed, maybe lil bit more white, now with neon green accents and a neon green gear circling the D P logo with (not being worn as goggles but up in his hair mimicking horns) Fenton style goggles with purple lenses
Once he learns ghost parents are supposed to have lil pouches like marsupials or seahorses (Ember tell him in Phantom's Lullaby [on AO3 here]) he manages to give himself one (it's not shape shifting tho it's a permanent change to his 'default' body)
Basically his adult body, both forms, was subconsciously influenced by what he thinks dads are: big, bright/colorful, and loud; though as a human the most he could do was be big (and accidentally be loud too r i p)
Whew okay, I think that's it for now? If you have Questions feel free to send me an ask

Ok, I finished it earlier than expected @who-is-cannon

The Midnight Sun Ghost
Aka Aurorrye
(Said like the name Aurora and the word rye, Auror-rye)
Pronouns: She/her
Core: Shadow
Age: ???
(She has no idea, spent some time in the Infinite Realms came back and humanity was using a different calendar. Might’ve been gone for 150 years, might’ve been 5000, she has no way of knowing since she couldn’t find anyone who knew the date based on the old calendar.)
Obsession/ nature: Also shadow!
Her interest in shadow puppets began as a favorite way to entertain village children, became something more when she was rift-born.
Appearance: (human/ghost)
Eyes: Violet/yellow
Hair: Black (both forms)
Skin: pale/shadow
(Pale not by race, but because of sensitivity to bright lights)
(I’m thinking she was from somewhere in South America, but I’m to lazy to research actual cultures)
Origin:
I go back and forth on the specifics, but she was caught in a natural portal when she was young (8-10), a full rift, like Danny. Her village was no stranger to spirits, liminals, and had several Doorway Spirits itself. It wasn’t much of a big deal.
She used her abilities to entertain others, help out around the village, and occasionally get into trouble. As she got older, she helped defend from natural dangers as well as supernatural ones.
One thing about Doorway Spirits, they’re all very unique. Some age normally, some age slowly, some die soon after they develop their other form... some grow to a certain point, and stop.
Aurorrye was in the last category.
She continued to protect the village, but as generat ions passed she found it more comfortable to stay in the zone for longer and longer periods of time. It’s hard watching everyone you love grow old without you.
Unique powers:
Portal opening/closing
Teleportation via. shadows.

Illusion (stronger in the dark)
Manipulation of tangible shadow (also stronger in the dark)
She can’t duplicate: but can remove her own shadow in human form and it can act as a separate entity. (It’s (surprise) Stronger in the dark)
Can cause eclipses (both solar and/or lunar)(very draining ability, will need several years to gain enough power to do it again)
Fun facts:
Her human hair was brown before her core developed.
She doesn’t have a last name, her village was small enough that she didn’t need one.
You know how Danny’s eyes flash green? Aurorrye’s Don’t flash, instead the whites of her eyes go black.
She is the oldest known shadow cored spirit, and is typically revered by the others of her kind.
Will defeat Spectra by saying she’s disappointed in her with the mom voice. Spectra will not attack Danny again.
Has served 2 ghost kings, as ambassador to the human world/ advisor for the entirety of their reigns, and started off doing the same for Pariah... but that’s another story.
Has a tendency to adopt other Doorway Spirits.
She feeds on emotions, I think this is necessary for shadow spirits, but she likes feelings of Awe and wonder best.
Her cape gets bigger when she’s angry/trying to be threatening

In human form people tend to get confused about how old she is, a young looking 40? An old looking 28? Older? Younger? Mixing modern slang and ancient proverbs does not help with this
Also in human form, people tend to think she’s in charge, she held important positions in the kings court, she knows how to carry herself to give this impression. This leads to an interesting first meeting with Vlad.

My version of Dani/ Ellie because I´m just not that big of a fan of the canon one.
Headcanon/ idea stuff below:
> The clone thing: The other clones before her were unstable/ beta versions who weren´t as sentient as her and depended on Vlad to stay existent. He used his own ectoplasm to keep them together and “running”. Said ectoplasm had his intent all over it, influencing said clone´s self perception. They weren´t their own individuals to begin with, barely more sentient than a blob ghost, moldable like dough. Vlad´s ectoplasm just acted like hot glue, keeping them together but shaping them how he wanted them to be.
Dani was a stable version, the alpha version before the final product. She didn´t need the ectoplasm like the clones before her, she was as sentient as the humanoid ghosts, she was an individual. Therefore her self perception wasn´t influenced like the others, she´s female because Danny´s trans and born biologically female. Vlad doesn´t know that, because the Fentons are supportive and don´t deadname/ out their son and Danny himself would not out himself to his archnemesis, so he was baffled. She was not the perfect son he wanted.
But she tried, in the beginning. She copied Danny as best as she could based on pictures and stories but to Vlad she just wasn´t what he wished to achieve. To him, she was a “forward but backward” riddle, finally a stable version but obviously something had to be wrong. And he let her feel it, her copying him was the least she could do, according to Vlad, she should at least be him as much as she could. Developing her own sense of self, an own identity was out of question.
Until she got bailed out. After Danny wrecked the lab and beat up Vlad with her help she wasn´t welcomed anymore. She had no idea were to go, who she was, where she wanted to go. She was a copy, a try to capture the original, and now she was noone. She stayed in one of Sam´s empty rooms for a while so they could help her become confident in herself.
First came the “why am I a girl?” question, cue explaining and exploring gender identities and biologicals sexes. Dani didn´t feel uncomfortable at the thought of being a girl, going through puberty and becoming a woman, which was obvious difference number one. She didn´t feel a sense “must protect” like he did, instead she became obsessed with freedom. Not being tied down by anyone else´s wishes, being able to leave if she wants to. She also wasn´t able to create ice in the same manner Danny did, not the same precision nor the same brute power. But water worked out, she could wield it with same skill Danny showed with ice. Jazz mused that it must be because of the nature of water, it can spill and evaporate, escape, but also be force to be reconned with, something she can protect herself with.
Ember helped out with her identity crisis, she herself knew what it was like to not be the person you wished to be. Over the period of time spent together with everyone she went through several stages. The first was an overly girly one extremely long hair and pink dresses in an attempt to counter out the time she had to copy Danny, it didn´t work out. The second was a crisis, literally. She was stable, yet she still couldn´t decide between being solid, a gas or being a liquid. Her from looked wrong, it was distorted and pulsing. Ember and Danny as ghosts were the only ones able to stay with her, the energy in her from didn´t cause the feeling of wrongness that her human friends felt, so they talked her through it.
In the end she came out younger, similar to Danny but also more colourful like Ember. In her human form she looked similar to Danny, like a little sister. In her ghost form she looked more chaotic, more colourful. And she finally felt content with herself. She went from Dani to Ellie, from clone to a little sister.
> As Danny is obsessed with protection and space, Ellie is obsessed with freedom and insects, spiders and anything with more than two legs.
> After Danny reveals himself to his parents he gets Ellie to stay with them. While it was nice to have a family, the Fentons just weren´t the right fit. She felt uncomfortable living with ghost hunters, with the lab and the weapons, and with their questioning nature. She ends up staying with aunt Alicia and lives the quiet farm life full of bugs, farm animal friends and wood adventures.
