Cult of the dragon au, where human toothless is the older brother of henrik haddock, and there is a cult stalking them as they believe that Viking hiccup, and by extension henrik, is a god among men. This au is maxed out hiccup angst, as boy am I psychologically torturing this kid/teen.

Hehehehe alien Lunar rambling time >:) including art for visuals

(note: this is just my interpretation/au of the “lunar is technically an alien” thing and it’s very self-indulgent, as all the stuff I create usually is also this may or may not end up becoming canon to the Icarus au, we’ll see)

So starting off, Lunar has a lot of features that are indicators of him being an alien/star-hybrid (my interpretation of the stars is also different though I won’t focus on that here-)

These features are (but not limited to):

Lunar, similar to Toothless from httyd, has retractable teeth (his teeth can retract on command into little pockets in his “gums” aka the silicone alternative of gums that he has)

His teeth are also sharper with much more prominent canines

(also yes he has used this ability to scare/surprise kids as well as family before)

This isn’t exactly something entirely specific to him but he also has padded hands and feet and retractable claws

The thing that is more so specific to him though is that he is really good at climbing walls as well as other usually hard to climb places as the pads themselves act as natural suction cups

Lunar and the others are semi-organic (which means they can do things such as properly ingest and digest food and drinks amongst many other things) HOWEVER, Lunar is different in ways than the others

One of these ways being that he doesn’t bleed oil but instead actual blood though it is still of course different from normal human and animal blood

Lunar can be injured much easier than the others due to this though something about his biology allows him to heal quickly, though how long it really takes depends on how severe the wound is

Lunar also has a form that is much more alien-like though they often don’t use it as they’re still getting used to it (the most they use it is during training as its easier to use their abilities then)

This other form gives them other physical traits such as soft and squishy feelers/nubs around their head and along their body that are very sensitive to changes in the air and vibrations as well as touch (he is able to pick up the faintest of sounds and movements using them so it can be very overwhelming)

Being semi-organic also comes with other abilities (both for Lunar and the others): giving them equipment like tongues as well as other things

This means that any of the cast who are semi-organic are technically able to have kids due to their biology, including Lunar (though due to being part alien their methods are slightly different from the others coughs)

Anyways✨

Along their face and body are star/constellation-like patterns that, while barley visible in the light, glow in the dark/at night

Lunar’s eyes also glow at night and he has amazing night vision (though the ladder is a thing others like Moon and Eclipse possess as well due to coding)

Going back to the patterns; they can technically communicate using them (they just don’t know how to yet-), kind of like how seawings use their bioluminescent markings to communicate in wof, by pulsing and flickering the lights (which Lunar sometimes unintentionally does when they are startled/flustered/upset)

I see Eclipse given four arms all the time so why not Lunar? He’s part of Eclipse’s code after all (and part alien now sooooo 4 arms :) )

Moving onto behavior:

Alien Lunar’s behavior is more feral (ex: growling/hissing and baring his teeth when upset or scared)

He is not a complete wild animal or anything like that but he does possess animal-like behaviors such as the one listed above and more (he can get really feral though when he’s super upset or scared or just experiencing other really high emotions)

Other behaviors include:

Zoomies when super excited or happy

Kneading like a cat when sleepy

Other vocalizations like purring (which is more like a rumbly whirr than an actual purr but still) and clicking/chirping and cooing like a dove/pigeon

Lunar tries not to let things like that slip much though they still do and they get embarrassed by it (again they’re still very much getting used to everything)

That’s all I have rn, again this is very self-indulgent and also I’m going into depth about a lot of stuff and being detailed (even with the more “below deck” stuff if you know what I mean even though can’t really say much about that here coughs) cuz I like doing that when creating any kind of biology for species/character stuff, it’s fun and helps build an interesting and complex thing I think

My not-really-old early concept of a place that I have been thinking about the concept for a long time now, and is supposed to be only exists in my Sky AU, but then the more I think of the concepts, it also made me realize that it gets some relations with the current Sky gameplay especially in economies with the Ancestors. So I decided to make it as a fan-Season too!! [Season of Trading(?)]

Some infos abt it that I might add more soon:

In my AU, this place is only for Sky Kids who wants to be a Guide for the newborn Children of Light for each Realms, as there were some spirits and Adult Sky "Kids" that can taught them about Martial Arts, Archery, Swords, Spears, and other weapons, and even Magic, Flight (including riding Light Creatures like Manta!), even other languages and secret codes!! And while this place is hidden, there are still some sly and tricky hunters or maybe scavengers that stealing some stuffs from the village and will do anything to get something that got their interests, no matter what.

The location is either reaaalllyyyy hidden in Hidden Forest, or far far away from Prairie Peaks or Aviary, or even in an undiscovered island! The only way to get there is to warp from the guide while the Season is active as the usual, OR riding a manta instead of a boat!! *

This place actually prohibited the usage of Diamonds, knowing what it was made from, so that's why it didn't use boat, and most of the stuffs there are probably traditional / handmade. (This may also explains why the place is really far / hidden, so that it can be far from the others that has been using the diamonds.)

New experience for arriving in the new Season location hell yeah,,,,,, yes you can tell that I got bored with using boats to bring us into the new Season location /jk

I kinda think of the spirits to be 6 but with no expressions (yet, or maybe no-) and each of them has their own jobs! I am still thinking of the job for the spirits and I will pick some from these; woodchopper, miner, farmer, crafter, chef, herdsman(?), book archiver, and even a tailor too like in Aviary maybe?

The guide is either an old-ish Spirit that looked like an archiver, or the Spirit that helps with the delivery to the other Realms.

*(Though there IS a boat- or more likely a ship-, somewhere near the sea after the Forest, and it's a WOODEN BIG AHH SHIP THAT HELPS TO DELIVER STUFFS FOR FARAWAY ISLANDS....)

The inspirations I took for this are from a lot of possible medias that I know, such us Zelda, DND, Genshin, Spiritfarer, HTTYD, Lara Croft / Tomb Raider, Princess Mononoke, The Chronicles of Narnia, Avatar (both Avatar with the blue creature one (Na'vi) and Avatar with the Aang boi), and PROBABLY MANY MORE BUT I FORGOT WHAT I SHOULD PUT AUGH-

Also inspired by some of Tom Zhao's Sky concept arts, and some of the existing concept such as Aviary Village, Wind Paths, and the treehouses in Sky like the one with the Assembly Spirits and the one with the Belonging Grandma that give us breads :3c

Hiccup hobbled slightly, gritting his jaw as he lifted himself over gnarled tree bark, grabbing at the branches of trees as he moved forwards.

His spine ached like a razor set of blades had been dragged up it, scratching along his ribcage as he went.

It was different from the pains that centered in whatever part of his leg that had been ripped and severed and rendered all a mess, though that part of him was aching too, causing muscles to tense and his eyes to shut in agony.

 Secretly though, he knew that pain had been there longer, beginning at a time when he was fully able-bodied but still decidedly frail.

He’d dealt with it when he was an apprentice slaving away over heavy swords and metal ores and he’d deal with it now. Not many carried much sympathy for the troubled, and troubled he was.

He didn’t know what to do with the dragons. Not after Grimmel.

Without a council or any advisor, the burden of managing everyone fell to him.

The idea of freeing and learning about dragons became less and less appealing the more overwhelming the work got. With a growing frequency, he needed to be reminded why the bond between man and lizard was worth protecting.

As he hauled himself up using the crumbling, rough-barked end of a branch, he tightened his grip on the end of a thick bundle of cloth in brown.

What fabric he couldn’t manage easily in front was easily thrown back over his shoulder, catching against leaves, causing his shoulders to jerk and his aches to worsen.

He’d grabbed it on a whim, knowing he might like something to sit over, but now it seemed like more of a burden than anything as he walked up an incline.

He was close- just one more step.

His life was a series of ‘just one more’s. 

He wondered if he would ever get to where he was going.

Hiccup let out a breath as he stepped over a short ledge.

He paused for a moment, looking out at the world from underneath furrowed brows, something in his chest dragging as he took in the drop. It wasn’t steep, but the sand would make it difficult to climb his way back up, what with his screaming body. 

If he went back now, though, that would have meant that his journey would have been made a waste.

Before him was a rippling lake, a few flat stones sticking out from the sand and its surface. Grazing over the small beach, something gave him pause.

He felt oddly calm- and by oddly calm, Hiccup meant… What, excited? Startled?

He felt way too much, though not as much as he would have expected, considering the circumstances- not with the way he recalled heavily sweating palms and a heart beating so fast it rendered him winded.

By the water, sitting and shifting in the sand was… a person.

It was you.

Glances at you stolen between two hefty bodies in the old village- past all his ogling, before he had gotten over his teenhood fancy for Astrid, but long after he’d picked up the one he’d had on you, you’d met eyes once back on Berk- the real Berk, the one that’d existed before he’d messed it up with his own hands, building fragile homes and carelessly slapping garishly bright, painted colors onto their walls... not whatever this place was, new to them all and only just slightly less alien.

You’d never talked.

And how pathetic was that?

Hiccup was a twenty-one winters old man, still stuck staring out at the world like a foppish teen from a rickety forge window.

“Oh.” You said simply, looking at him, then looking down, as if you thought you ought to cover up, though you didn’t seem too hurried. 

While you were distracted, he cautiously, greedily took in bare skin.

He didn’t think it was obvious that he was looking, with the way he kept all his limbs appropriately close to his person.

He should have been ashamed, but he was sure if he didn’t take the opportunity now, he’d never get the chance to again.

He was aware as you turned your attention back to him. 

“You’re… Chief, right?” You asked hesitantly. 

It was expected. 

Hardly anyone acted like it. If they did, they never treated him as such. He appreciated the recognition anyway.

Hiccup responded, “Yeah… Right. I am.” 

It was awkward talking to each other from such a distance, and yet with him unwilling to come down the slope and you rendered still and careful by your own nakedness, the two of you were stuck at odds. 

He kept his gaze on the general you for a moment longer than was necessary. To be fair, though, with the distance between the two of you, it was hard not to look at you without seeing all of you.

“Ah,” Hiccup started, looking around. 

Over extruding log-parts and thick leaves, there didn’t seem to be any cloth. No leather, either, or furs- not even a boot.

Weird, though he wasn’t complaining.

“Do you… make a habit of being naked in the woods?” Hiccup asked apprehensively. 

If so, he should make a habit of coming out more often.

Dragonwalker Hiccup AU

My fic of it, set during HTTYD1; basically just a prologue

Ramblings underneath (like, a lot. i’m warning you.)

So basically, Dragonwalkers are humans who, when they fall asleep, turn into dragons. Just go watch Wolfwalkers actually it’s a very good movie and the concept is very hard to put into words, i’ve found.

Anyway; thoughts. Many MANY of them. :)

Valka’s had her dragon form (a night fury) her whole life, and lived on an island w her family AND a family of Night Furies. (Night Furies live in family packs, w the parents leading/raising/teaching their children (they only have 1 egg at a time, and only lay up to 3 in their whole life) until they’re old enough to get their own mate and start their own pack. (When a Night Fury pair’s children all have left and started their own families, they will sometimes join their children’s packs since they can’t hunt and fight on their own that well as they get older.))

And bc thw sucks and Grimmel, a man who is still alive, somehow killing off an entire species of dragons is stupid, i’m using my sibling’s idea, which is that Grimmel’s family has been hunting Night Furies for generations. It’s a family tradition basically, tracking and killing them until none are left. (And every person in his family has been killed by Night Furies, further motivating them.)

So Valka’s family (dragon&dragonwalker) were all killed, and only she escaped, ending up on Berk. Fell in love w Stoick, tried to make the vikings stop killing the dragons, was taken by Cloudjumper, the usual. She reunites with Hiccup early, during RTTE, just bc i want them to kick dragon hunter ass together. The war w Drago happens later.

Also i’m completely discarding the whole “king of all dragons” thing, it doesn’t fit w how i want this world to feel. Also toothless sucked as Alpha, i dont want that. And what i’ve always liked abt the HTTYD dragons is that they’re animals. The whole “king of all dragons” kinda,,, ruins that. So that’s also gone now.

I’ve been having a lot of thoughts abt how dragon flocks/packs/pods work, and these are my current ideas;

A “Flock” is a group of dragons of different species, under the control/protection of an Alpha (the Red Death’s flock, (Valka’s) Bewilderbeast’s flock, that one flock of dragons in RTTE s2e8-9 “Edge of Disaster”)

A “Pack” is a group of dragons of the same species, under the control/protection of a leader/queen/etc. etc. (speed stingers, fire worms, terrible terrors, (night furies in this AU))

A “Pod” is the same as a Pack, except for Tidal-class dragons specifically (a pod of seashockers, scauldrons, etc.)

The whole franchise is very inconsistent abt this so i’m working w what i have ok

The “Great Beyond” was separated from Berk/Berserkers/etc. by a heavy wall of fog all around them. There were some spots you could cross, used by traders and such, but the rest of the world has stayed pretty separated from this one corner of the world that experiences Dragon Raids.

However, after the Red Death’s demise, the fog has been slowly dissipating, allowing more to cross over; this way, the riders taking hours and hours of exhausting flight to reach “the great beyond” AND Gobber somehow making his way to Dragon’s Edge on a small, rickety boat both make sense; the more time passes, the easier it is to cross.

A lot of the conflict in the series comes from the human characters not understanding why the dragons are doing something, so giving Hiccup the ability to communicate with them takes away a lot of it, which i’m not happy abt bc it means i need to come up w my own stuff >:( (communicating w the dragons is actually kinda difficult in human form, since his hearing isn’t good enough to hear a fair amount of their vocalizations, and his throat isn’t made for producing those sounds.)

Anyway, my thoughts have been specifically focused on one episode of RTTE, my favourite one since i first saw it, up there w Dire Straits and Enemy of my Enemy; s3e8 “Stryke Out”.

In this AU, hiccup is taken by dragon hunters in his dragon form, taken to a dragon fighting ring. He’s worth a lot to them, being a Night Fury (this is what the art at the top of the post is depicting). He’s caged up for a few weeks until the news of a Night Fury in the ring spread enough, and he has to start fighting. The Riders figure out where he is due to these rumours, and interrupt his fight with the Triple Stryke 3 days into him being forced to fight the other dragons, the same day Ryker came to collect his cut of the money again.

Anyway, that’s all i rly wanted to get out rn. Just. Obsessed. Hiccup becoming crueler and much less forgiving towards dragon hunters after this experience. He’s seen their cruelty many times before, but being caged and muzzled and forced to hurt other dragons if he wants to live, dependant on them for food, even for the capability to eat it, bc of the hook they put in his mouth, really just... changes him. God i love torturing my faves <3

Cat au

1. Susan is Rosie's mother. No one out of their part believes it. Till they realise how both are creative at bashing others out.

2. We all know by now that Vaggie can't cat as she was human... But, there were multiple cats in this au that used to be human. It is just hard to detect as they lose some memory of it after time and cat behaviour takes over. Intelligence remains though.

Most of the extra human cats transformed with Lucifer. Reasons still unclear.

3. Egg Bois have different forms under their shell. It just take time for them to develop.... I'm still surprised no one questioned why there are only 4 instead of 5 egg boys.

Httyd au:

1. Vaggie was thrown out by dragon hunters, but still remembers many survival technics to this day. Her language got lagged though as she started to speak more in growls to communicate with her fam.

2. The thing that drove Carmilla away from her original herd was extremely graphic. It left mind scars that made her more hesitant to other dragons. Which even more explains her hesitance to allow Zestial near her, as she used to be quiet welcoming.

Reminder to myself. I really gotta finish the first chapter for the fanfic.

3. Zestial is so old he forgot how old he is. He is from the time furies just started to get other attributes by mixing with other dragons. This is why he has original night fury colour. His mom was a full night fury and dad was some spider like dragon.

Im sorry to bother you. I just wanted to say that I love your COI AU. I love the leo angst in it and the Dragon. I have always loved dragons and this scratches a itch I didn't know I had 😆 I was reading back through the asks and saw where you weren't sure about Leos hoard, and then I saw an ask about how he used to talk with Donnie about getting wings. They would talk about shows like Rio and Gaurdians of Gahool. So maybe his hoard can be birds. Just imagine he has all these bird stuffies and figures because he loves movies with flying because he wants to fly, but his family just assumes he just likes birds. Donnie, of course, knows about the dreams, but leo just always plays it off, so it never clicks for Donnie that the bird hoard is another hint at his need to fly. When his brothers find out the birds make so much more sense to them and the obvious obsession just hits them hard because they never noticed. Just a random thought, lol. Sorry that was really long.

Everyone knows that Leo’s liked birds since he was a little dragonet, specifically because of what you mentioned: movies! Rio, The Aviators, even Angry Birds, he loved them all! But at the end of the day, Guardians of Ga’Hoole is what started everything. With scenes like this, as a kid who never really thought about what it was LIKE to fly beside Raph and Mikey? That little tot was immediately fascinated.

However, he also really liked Happy Feet before that, for the exact opposite reason: the swimming (Though the music was a bonus too). He was familiar with that, and he was good at it too, so seeing these lil penguins swimming in an ocean instead of the little pool Splinter was able to get for them was HUGE.

So when birds became such an important thing that it triggered his hoarding instincts, why would anyone assume anything was wrong? Obviously that’s where his questions about flight came from! Birds birds birds.

Bird toys, bird figurines, bird pokemon cards, pictures, movies, plushies, books, he was collecting it all!

It wasn’t until he got to see HTTYD or Avatar, (both a little after he finally accepted flying wasn’t an option for him and obsessing over it wasn’t helping), that he realized his hoard wasn’t just limited to birds. Dragons (ACTUAL dragons, not drakes or serpents…), bats, insects, frikkin flying squirrels — suddenly he was aching to get items revolving around those too.

But if he let himself hoard stuff like that all willy nilly, his family would certainly piece it together, wouldn’t they??

He’s able to let a few items fly (pun intended), like a plush dragon here and there because “it looks like Mikey,” a cool pinned butterfly because it’s “blue, like me,” a bat diagram because “there’s no medical poster for dragon wings, we need that in the medbay, obviously!” Anything he can come up with an excuse for.

But anything else? Anything that might raise too many eyebrows? Like that dragon onesie or that giant bat Halloween decor or the whole WoF comic book series??? Either resist the temptation, or shove it under his bed.

Meanwhile, he absolutely gets teased for being “SO into birds” as a dragonet, it became his hoard. But that’s fine, they tease each other a lot, it’s not as if all of his family doesn’t constantly bring him more bird stuff as gifts lmao.

Dialogue and whump! Whump I think is my strongest though, because I can do sooooo much research on it, and any questions I have I can ask my bestie who’s in the medical field 🤭

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I think it’d be fun, but I probably wouldn’t do it because I don’t know any language other than English, and I don’t entirely trust Google Translate enough to put it in my fics😂 If I ever write a Gale Cleven fic though, I might ask my bestie if I decide I want some German for it

I'm about to be annoying 'cause I like you, and I do that, so you can ignore me if you want. I swear I won't get upset (pinky promise).

Since you like crossovers I might as well present to you my httyd centered crossover & AU combination. Or whatever I should call this.

It's simply a turn of events in the first movie, where Astrid never finds Hiccup, and thus, he leaves with Toothless.

In the future, people still hate dragons, they're just a but more advanced technologically (around the middle ages, I suppose). This is where one chooses the characters for the crossover and makes them the main characters.

Okay, in this future the characters are still in school, the island is sealed from the outside, because dragons have expanded their territories around the forest where Hiccup meets Toothless, and now there's a huge variety of them behind the walls protecting the island. Our characters, who are around the age of young adults, meet at their first years of college, {insert all crossover characters} form a friend group.

It depends on how big you imagine it, how many characters you insert, personalities, etc. but the general idea is that one or two of them jump the wall (illegally, ofc, but they don't get caught) and find an old book conserved in ambar, which is odd, because why would a death-song target a book? So they free it, and it's Hiccups old notebook, that he left there on purpose after successfully protecting it from the pass of time, in hopes somebody would finish what he started.

Here starts the main plot, like, the point between the setting and the conflict, because the friend group in the future one by one start finding out, reading it, getting their own dragons, etc. And learning that Hiccup wasn't the great dragon hunter he was made to be in history books, but rather a dragon trainer, and that's what they call themselves.

At the same time we follow the story of Hiccup, after leaving the island, he learns about dragons, and somehow meets Jack. I haven't really thought of this part of the timeline yet, but he meets Jack, and writes on his notebook, and then later he seals it on amber and leaves it in the same place where he first met Toothless. He decides he has written enough and someone with his same heart will finish what he never had the courage to, so he places it there and leaves again.

A short little bit of my httyd Frankenstein au, the beginning

“Destiny wait!” Norbert called out as the little viking child ran past him, giggling. Destiny did not have a habbit of waiting, or listening to her father. In all her 11 years of life she always did exactly what she wanted and didn’t pay attention to anyone telling her otherwise.

“Relax!” She called out with a soft laugh, as she jumped over the fence wire, which marked this area off limits, like a four foot ten spring and plopped herself down in Norbert’s newest invention. 

“Get down from there this instant young lady! I mean it!” Norbert boomed, trying to catch up to her. 

Destiny stuck her tongue out. Don’t touch this, dont mess with that. She had never gotten hurt before, a bit scraped up but nothing more serious than some burned hairs and blisters, why would today be any different? It was a beautiful sunny day. Destiny had a good feeling about this. Bad things just donen’t happen on beautiful days like this, so she ignored the warnings of her father, 

“Destemona Cora Nutjob I really mean it this time! My flying machine hasn’t been tested yet!” Norbert lumbered towards her. That girl was going to be grounded for so long she’d have grandchildren the time it was over. 

Destiny giggled, her eyes shining, “That’s why I’m going to be the first person to test it.” She placed her foot to the petal, making it turn round. Despite being only a quarter of Norbert’s size the stength of her legs was just enough to lift that rickety thing into the air. Higher and higher she soared, up into the heavens, no not quite there…not yet.

Norbert was trying hard not to tear the hair from his curled moustaches.

“Wooah hoo!” Destiny shouted from high in the crisp air. It was actually working, her father’s most brilliant invention yet was working. The salty wind of the bay was whipping in her face, making her curly blond ponytail fly back. It was incredible, exhilarating  and then….crack!

One of the smaller parts near the wing snapped. Destiny’s bright eyes widened in terror, as for a split second, she was perfectly still in the air. Then, the flying the was starting to plummet downwards at a terrifying rate, faster than lightning it seemed. It started to spin violently, heating up a little, and Destiny was tossed about inside. She felt sick from the motion and impact. “MAYDAY MAYDAY! SOMEONE HELP ME!” She called out. But there was nothing anyone could do, not even Norbert. She was falling far too fast for anything nearby to cushion her. Some things aren’t improbable, they’re just impossible. 

Norbert watched in absolute horror, as Destemona Cora Nutjob, his only child, his pride and joy, smashed into the ground, her fragile body scattered in as many pieces as the now broken flying machine.

Sometimes I think of creating an AU based on the world of Portal, but never really got it off the ground. That is until I imagined some of the drama I could write and now here we are. Very excited for this one!

Viggo Grimborn despises the way his body has turned on him. He should still be in his prime, he’s barely halfway throug his 30s. Yet, he sits in front of the fireplace dressed in his warmest clothes with a robe on top and he’s still cold. The dark circles under his eyes have deepend, he’s lost weight and his dark hair is showing signs of gray. Grimborns don’t tend to gray so early in life.

And he’s wheezing. Coughing and wheezing because his lungs have been utterly destroyed and he has no one to blame but himself.

It hurts to breathe.

With shaking hands, he grabs the pill bottle on the small table next to him and takes two pain killers. They’re strong, it’s double the right dose, but Viggo is far beyond caring at this point. Then he grabs his glass of port wine to wash it all down.

What a wreck he has become. The media and the newspapers wonder why there hasn’t been a public sighting of him for months now and he can’t stomach the idea of coming clean.

He’s sick and that’s a private matter.

A door opens and closes softly, but those hurried footsteps are barely muffled by the thick carpet before a hand quickly grabs Viggo’s glass from him. Unfortunately, those pills are already long gone.

“Viggo, how many times do I have to tell you not to take your medication with alcohol?!” The sickly man looks up to his partner and finds Hiccup glaring down at him, his glass in hand and other hand on his hip.

Viggo huffs and dismisses the lecture.

“What does it matter?” He asks. “I’m done.”

Just a week ago their private phycisian told them the terrible news; he’s terminal. He probably has only months.

Months Hiccup would very much like to have with him, which they can’t if Viggo continues to wash his pills down with a strong drink instead of water.

“You’re not done. Who knows, there could be a way to help you tomorrow or a week from now. We don’t give up!” Hiccup wastes the drink, throwing it in the fire. It fuels it, makes it grow bigger for a second before it returns to its original size. Viggo considers it a good metaphor for his anger. Hiccup stands there, rubbing his temple where a stress headache brews.

“Reckless,” Viggo shakes his head.

“I remember when I took you on exactly for that recklessness. And your unorthodox, brilliant brain, of course. In a mass of researchers and interns and people calling themselves the future of science, you were actually promising,” he reminisces with his eyes closed.

Viggo can’t say he has loved anyone before he met Hiccup. He was just 18 years old then, ahead of everyone else with a head full of ideas no one wanted to listen to and yet with a fire that would burn them all down. The day they met, he knew he had to have him by his side. It’s been two years since then and just a month after their wedding, they were told he was sick.

Viggo opens his eyes to look at him, watches as he appears to stare into the fire deep in thought himself, fist to his chin.

They’ve called him a gold digger and a boytoy. He’s been sneered at and his father refuses to talk to him. For what other reason would he marry a man much older than himself if not because he’s either scheming or too naive to think for himself?

But Viggo nows better. He knows him intimately. Hiccup was the only person in the entire world worthy of being his equal and he still proves that every day.

Not even Ryker is in his life anymore. And once news of his death reaches him...

“Hiccup, my company…” The man has to swallow. He wishes his lungs would stop burning with every breath. Wishes he didn’t feel so weak, he would yank the young man into his arms and carry him to bed if he had the strength.

Instead, he can’t even sit in a way he considers dignified anymore.

Hiccup turns to him, his features soft and worried. He steps closer, sitting down on the cushy arm chair on the other side of the small table and takes his nearest hand. “Don’t worry about any of that right now. You need to think about yourself.”

Instead of listening, Viggo continues.

“I won’t make it. When I’m no longer here-”

Hiccup takes his hand back and shoots up, refusing to hear another word.

“No! You’ll be just fine!” He argues. He wouldn’t know what to do with himself if his husband were to die on him.

“I won’t! And we both know it!” Despite the wheezing, Viggo manages a hard tone.

“When I’m gone. I want you to take over from me. The company and all its assets, both liquid and otherwise, will be yours. Every patent we own will be yours. I can trust no one else with them.”

“You’ll make it,” there’s a crack in Hiccup’s voice. “You’ll make it and you’ll finish your last project and then it won’t be your last anymore because there will be others.”

Viggo is too tired to even shake his head at his stubborness. How can he make him so angry, yet so infatuated with him at the same time? He’s the only one who has ever made him face the fact that love truly does exist. And the way his body used to melt with his when they were still capable of making love made him believe there was such a thing as the divine as well. But his mind, the hours spent together working with him, competing against him, those were the times when he truly felt alive, happy.

Viggo’s body is dying. His very last project was secret even to Hiccup and at this rate, he’ll never see it finished.

Unless… Yes, his body is dying, but that doesn’t mean all of him will be gone. His legacy will continue and Hiccup will be burdened with it.

“My company is yours,” he repeats once more. “You’ll take over.”

“No,” Hiccup crosses his arms, stubborn. “I’m not going to take over.”

“And you can’t make me.”

Honestly I get why so many httyd fics are AUs and canon divergence because like. Canon is already so massive & complete and so well-rounded. How do you add on to that when everything’s already so well-developed & elaborate???

There’s so much worldbuilding from the dragons to the islands to the different tribes, and the characters & their arcs are also represented super well even for side characters that only appear in the tv shows like Dagur.

There’s not much space for exploring what happens in between timeskips because the franchise is literally a straight line what happens during 6 in-universe years from when Hiccup is 15 to when he’s 21 from HTTYD1, GOTNF, ROB/DOB, DOTDR, RTTE, HTTYD2, then HTTYD3, unless you want to write about pre-canon or post-canon like the epilogue where Homecoming takes place.

Everything is so well established & fleshed out within the timeline & lore that you really have to squeeze in whatever canon-compliant thing you want to write (i should know because I first started out fic writing with HTTYD & this was exactly my experience. It’s on an anonymous account don’t go looking for it)

Nine of my OC’s! I had a lot of fun drawing them all and enjoyed playing around with their designs. 

Very basic character info: 

Tate: my dnd tabaxi rogue gardener who has nearly died to several gelatinous cubes, and has adopted many children—including a talking borzoi named Anthony who is a dog-war veteran who loves cupcakes. Tate has been married twice, and can be described as a middle aged Goblincore clown dad with too many kids. His grandfather is also a chicken named Albert! 

Socks: another dnd tabaxi rogue, because that’s all I can play. She’s tates older sister who grew up on a ship at sea after she left the tabaxi kingdom because, well, why not? She’s my asexual sapphic pirate who has committed multiple war crimes and currently has her own tiny “kingdom” (a town) all consisting of sentient, life-sized ants. Don’t ask… 

Faenala: one of my dragons from the now deactivated game School Of Dragons, based off of the httyd universe where you play a side character who spends their time collecting items and eggs, following the occasional dramatic storyline. I made stories about the characters i made in the game. So Faenala is a Silver Fury who grew up on a small island called Valhallas Hollow, which is inhabited by a shitton of terrible terrors. She’s very sneaky, and grew up around these terrible terrors who she would hunt for and protect. 

NightCanvas: I made his design in a random nightlight dragon batch I was drawing towards the end of July, and liked how he turned out so much that he’s turned into one of my OC’s! He and his sister Pearl tend to travel from seastack to seastack in search of a place to call home. He’s very protective, playful, and has a tendency to dive head first into danger. 

Oscar: is one of the OC’s I’ve drawn the most lately! He’s part of my continued Nightlight Family AU for httyd, and is Toothless’s grandson. He was seperated from his dad, Pouncer, at a young age and has spent most of his time trying to teach himself to live on his own. He’s terrified of everything,  is very skittish and sweet. 

Miks: I’ve been a huge fan of the ps4/5 game Stray since it came out a year ago, and recently decided to make my own StraySona character! I’ve created what his side quest, dialogue, and minor interactions would be like! 

Kallias: She’s one of the main characters in a novel I’ve been writing, which sounds absolutely batshit and weird if I try to explain it. In summary, she’s a genderqueer sapphic whos obsessed with Cryptids.She’s in love with her friend, Daisy. Kallias works at an arcade and has a problem of waking up in different short horror stories every night, only to wake up covered in blood. As you can guess, this makes a relationship difficult. 

CreatureFall: one of my dark forest warrior cat OC’s from clangen, he’s in a bunch of stories that take place after they’ve gone to the DarkForest. He’s the definition of a himbo, and spends his time giving out therapy sessions to the murderers of cat hell.

FennelBones: born in cat hell, he’s a very charismatic disaster who is constantly trying to make friends with the wrong people, which lands him in a lot of trouble. He’s the son of my favourite warriors oc, FleaThistle, and his cottagecore husband FadingStar (who belongs to @liberhoe)
