The reader gets stabbed in the chest And literally coughing blood and shit and dies and literally a minute later they are like "hi :3" (they literally have a shit eating smile as if they didnt just die a few minutes ago) while they are literally wasting tears for them and they just look at the reader still crying but looks like theyre about to slap the reader, the reason for them not dying just yet is because they literally have two lives and just used one for this (lets say crack if you will lol.) Ty!!

" It's gonna be alright, (name)- " She was kneeled beside your bleeding body in the snowy outskirts of Belobog. It had just been a short trip out and neither of you had expected to get attacked. You tried getting up as she forced you back to laying down. " Please, just lay down while we wait for the Silvermane Guards. " She had a sad look on her face as she spoke.

" I'll- " You coughed, making her flinch as she saw blood come out from your mouth. " I'll be- okay.. " Your breath was getting shallow as she helped you sit up to prevent you from choking on your own blood.

" Just rest, it'll be okay, yeah? They'll be here soon to take you to a doctor. " She assured, not wanting you to feel anxious or scared.

" You know.. " You started, looking over at her. " You really are a great girlfriend. " You gave a weak smile as you felt her squeeze your hand. She felt you go limp as she held you up, your hand no longer grabbing her own.

Tears pricked at her eyes as she stared at you, death had finally come to take you after you had bled out.

Your nose then scrunched up.

" Gross, what is that smell? " You opened your eyes, looking at Serval then back down at you. " Don't cry, I'm alive. " You smiled, her face was covered in disbelief.

" You- but you died? " She wiped a tear that was in her eye.

" Yeah but, I have two lives! Two! " You put up two fingers, much like a peace sign, and put it towards her. " I just used one so I have one more! " She sighed and hugged you tightly.

" ...Thank god. "

You found yourself being carried in the General's arms after you had been fatally wounded on a mission. You'd manage to get away even so, he feared you had little time left.

" I'm sure you will be alright, (name). " He looked down at you in his arms as he headed back towards the Luofu. " You must not worry. "

" Ah.. yeah, but it really hurts- Like really, really hurts. " You winced as you touched the wound on your abdomen.

" Refrain from touching it, I would not like for you to get an infection on top of such a fatal wound. " He had a stern yet caring look as he looked at you.

" Sorry, I just need to close my eyes for a bit.. " You felt your eyes fluttering closed as his eyes widened at you.

" (name), please try to keep your eyes open. We'll be th- " Your eyes had already closed, your body limp in his arms. Your weight now felt like dead weight as he stopped, looking down at your now lifeless form. " Ah.. " He needed to get you back as soon as he could, he shouldn't mourn you here.

You let out a sigh, your eyes opening once again.

" Sorry about that- Seems like I died though, huh? " You looked up at him. " I'm fine now, onwards! Back home! "

You heard him sigh as he started walking again. " You got me there. I truly believed you had died on me. It was not a pleasant feeling. I do have many questions for you alas, you should rest for now. "

" (name)! (name)! Don't fall asleep! " Yanqing sat beside you has you held your side. He had called for back up and a doctor but refused to leave you alone when you were like this. " You gotta stay awake, okay?! " His voice betrayed him as he talked to you, sadness was evident in it.

" Alright, alright.. I'm trying, " You let out a laugh. " I'll be fine, don't worry, okay? Just a little stab wound isn't going to get me. " You squeezed his hand gently.

" Just- stay awake! " He held your hand close to his chest as he looked at you. " You just gotta! " You gave a nod back as his eyes became glassy.

" Don't cry, Yanqing- " You coughed, going limp for a minute. Yanqings eyes started to water as he gently shook you.

" (name)?! " You let out a shaky breath a moment later, tears had started to come out of his eyes. He hugged you tightly.

" Yanqing! Not so tight! " You patted his back, signaling for him to loosen his grip.

" I'm just- just super happy you're okay! " He wiped the tears from his eyes. " Don't fall asleep again, okay? I'm going to stay right here and make sure you don't! "

" Alright, I promise.. " You smiled at the boy.

I just finished watching the Blue Shadow Virus duology and all I could think of was Kix being Very Upset And Concerned when the love of his life was caught in the bunker and almost died/now needs to be nursed back to health…could that possibly be a fic, with lots of soft and worried Kix? (Take this any direction you want and take your time…I’ve been stalking your blog for a couple years and you’re amazing! I’ve read and reread so many of your fics 💕)

Close Calls

In the end, things had worked out. 

The situation was definitely shaky in the middle, but between the troops, Senator Amidala, and Commander Tano, you were able to get everything under control. If you asked Kix however, you would think the world had ended. He had been by your side the moment you were pulled out of that bunker, datapad in hand, spitting out questions about your symptoms, asking about how you were feeling, and already talking about your treatment plan. 

At the time, you were too tired to fight him, raising a hand to pat him on the arm before you fell back unconscious. You were satisfied the moment you met his eyes, knowing he was okay and you were again in safe hands. It was enough for you to drift back off immediately. Which after the day you had, was welcomed.

You regained consciousness in the medbay, which had been repurposed to compensate for the large number of people who needed treatment. You could see Commander Tano a few beds down, already whining to Captain Rex (who was in the bed next to her) about being stuck in bed. Leave it to her to already be complaining about their confinement in the medbay. 

“Next time, try not to get infected with a deadly disease.” 

You chuckled lightly, turning your head to see Kix stroll up, datapad in hand. 

“I’ll try not to.” You let out a light cough, eyes squeezing shut. You opened them again to see Kix staring down at you. He let out a sigh, glancing around him. After seeing no one was paying the two of you any attention, he sat down on the edge, very carefully taking your hand in his. “I’m sorry I scared you.”

“I know you didn’t mean to. But don’t do it again. Doctor’s orders.” Kix said, his thumb stroking the back of your hand. 

“Sir, yes sir.” You smiled, raising your other hand in a weak salute. Kix laughed lightly before lifting your hand and gently kissing the back of it. His thumb rubbed a few paths against the back and you smiled up at him.

It had been scary, not knowing if you would last long enough to get out or even if you were going to escape. You didn’t want anyone else to catch this or for this disease to go back into the galaxy, but you were terrified of losing Kix. Now that you were safe and he was here with you, things seemed like they were finally better.

“Now, how are you feeling? Do you feel sweaty? Bloated?” Kix asked as he stood up, picking up his datapad. 

Nevermind. You hated him.

You groaned. “Kriff Kix, do you really need to know that? It’s hardly romantic.”

“I’m your medic. So yes.”

You huffed, crinkling your nose. “Fine. A bit yes.”

Kix continued on, going through question after question. You always answered them honestly, knowing he was just doing his job, but you did enjoy throwing in some jokes here and there. It keeps him on his toes. If he was going to hover, you were going to make it a little hard for him to focus, sue you.

This routine continued for the next few rotations. 

Kix would come by any chance he had, he’d sit by your side, give you updates on the rest of the men, and always hold your hand. These moments were fleeting, as he was exceptionally busy, but you cherished every second you got with him. 

As you continued to take medication and were continuously monitored, you started to get your strength back. The sunken, ashen color that had taken over your skin slowly faded, as did the exhaustion. Every day you felt stronger. 

By the time you were cleared by the medical staff, you felt strong enough to go right back to work. 

Of course, the medical staff also advised that you needed at least a few rotations before going back to work, but there was some work you could get done from your bunk. Kix must have sensed your plan, because he decided it was a good idea to escort you back to your bunk. You tried to get him to leave once you arrived, but it was at that moment he revealed that he had the next two rotations off and would not be leaving your side.

So much for work. 

You were in the refresher, taking a well deserved shower for the first time since waking up in the medbay when you heard a knock on the door. 

“Yeah?” You yelled over the running water.

“Are you okay? Not lightheaded?” Kix shouted back. You let you a sigh and continued washing your hair.

“I’m fine Kix! I’ll let you know if I’m not!” 

He said something else, but you didn’t catch it. Instead you finished washing your hair and quickly stepped out. You threw on the comfiest clothes you had and tidied up the refresher before stepping out. 

Kix was there the moment you stepped into your bunk, hand at your elbow.

“Kix for kriff’s sake I’m fine. I’m feeling much better than before and I’m capable of walking on my own.” You whined. 

The medic hesitated, head dropping. You stopped, hand coming up to rest over his.

“You really had me worried. I thought you weren’t coming back.” He said softly and your annoyance deflated in an instant. You sighed. 

“Alright. I understand. I’m sorry for being pushy, it’s just good to be out of the medbay and I am feeling better. But I’d love for you to stay if you want.” You said, giving his hand a squeeze. Kix took a stuttering breath and looked up at you, nodding once. 

“If you’ll have me.”

You smiled. “I’d love for you to stay. Now go wash up. There’s some spare blacks in the bathroom.”

Kix returned the smile, giving your arm a squeeze and pressing his lips to your forehead before heading into the small refresher. 

You looked after him for a moment before finishing your nightly routine. By the time Kix finished in the ‘fresher, you were curled up in your bunk, fighting off sleep. He chuckled lightly, setting down his own clothes and turning off the light. 

“I guess I was more tired than I thought.” You hummed as Kix crawled into your small bunk. You shivered at the air entering your warmth, but it was quickly replaced by Kix’s warm arm pulling you back against him. 

“It’s a good thing I was here then.” He breathed against your ear. You elbowed him lightly in the stomach and tried to ignore his soft laughter by burying your face further into your pillow. He pressed another kiss to the side of your head. “Good night.”

“Night.” You breathed in response. “Love you.” Kix held on a little bit tighter, breathing against your skin. “Love you too.”

You drifted to sleep, warmer than you had been a while, sure that the future was bright as long as Kix stayed by your side.

6. What is your darkest fear about writing?

whew getting right to it, huh?

hmm...i guess there's always a sense of imposter syndrome, you know? like i've had people tell me "you're such a great writer!" and "i can totally see you publishing one day!", from family, friends, and teachers. i was even voted "most likely to write a book" for my sophomore year yearbook.

and yet. there is always that lingering sense of what if i'm not that good? What if nobody likes it?

believe me - i know the saying "write what makes YOU happy" and i stand by that! but there is also going to be that itty-bitty feeling of hurt if somebody doesn't like it (and tells you it. which is very rude btw don't do that.)

I guess it stems down to the fact that while I like writing for myself, I also like that positive encouragement from the readers.

which does happen a lot XD i'm flooded with comments the next morning after i post a fic and i rarely - if ever - see a rude/criticizing one. Screams? Oh yes. I savor those screams. But I haven't read a criticizing one on any of my ToA fics (BT? A fair few. Lolling usually got there first though and deescalated the situation much quicker than I would have.)

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

MAKING MY READERS SUFFER!

I really like piecing together all these myths and getting a coherent plotline out from them. Also, absolutely love writing Apollo he's the best <3

also, the enjoyment of the readers are always great too. there's bonding to be done in the comment sections of fics, and i love to ramble about the fic process XD

10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

absolutely.

there's been many things that have occupied brain-space. But Trials of Apollo has taken the cake.

I tried to write fanfiction for PJO in middle school. dropped it after a couple fics. deleted them too because i was very cringed out by them XD

attempted a PJO/HP crossover. trashed that too.

tried just HP. nothing ever came of it.

Warrior cats i made a cracky Time-Travel AU but also Lolling and I smacked out heads together and made Burning Thistles (still in progress btw - 170 chapters in) but it didn't exactly...haunt me, ya know? I love BT, and I really should get to the next chap soon, but it wasn't quite haunting me.

Star Wars infected me during Quarantine and I pumped out like. 30 fics in Whumptober plus a few others, but then steam kinda died out.

Until...ToA.

It haunts me. No other series has done this. It occupied my thoughts. My actions. My homework. My music. Everything I see, do, or think has some thread of ToA in it.

As for my own writing...heh. anything Copollo. they have permanent headspace and i have no intent of giving them the boot anytime soon.

Also...my Hunger Games AU is very very juicy. i can't wait until it's all done so i can finally share it! about 10 chapters left <3

and well. ^ i think it's pretty obvious what I think haunting means lol

Lan Wangji had been working on the search and rescue mission for many years. Frankly, as he wasn’t able to actually go through the gates of hell, he found these searches to be pretty piss-poor. A party of angels would be kicked out very fast if he tried, so it was best to just search the outskirts despite his beliefs that it would do no good.

It was never fruitful. He searched all the earth that he could reach, and even some he probably shouldn’t have been. He questioned himself on why he tried so hard, when he couldn’t even remember the face of this man…but…

“You didn't say that to my shixiong did you?! He died in such a pitiful way and you didn’t even reunite here?! Are you telling me you…you-?!”

Lan Wangji held his forehead and grimaced, fluttering down to land atop a large stone in a mountain glade. His head hurt so much since he started this mission, but he felt strangely passionate about the project. 

The words that purple-clad angel had spewed at him in anger left him feeling quite…shaken. He felt like he’d done something grave, despite not being able to control the situation. Should he have asked Baoshan Sanren to remove the spell even if it wasn’t safe? He felt like his skin was crawling at the mere thought of keeping it any longer, but at the same time he did understand the risks.

Nightcrawlers were fierce parasites- one opening and they would immediately sink their teeth into your psyche like you were their favorite snack instead of a living being. Apparently when he’d first arrived in heaven, he was infected within the first few weeks he was there because of his state.

If it wasn’t for Baoshan Sanren’s abilities and her doctor, he’d probably be dead shortly after he’d arrived.

He sighed, shaking his head. Why was he thinking about all this right now? He had to continue the mission.

However, just as he was turning to leave, he felt an unusual but familiar bristling sensation crawl up his back. He turned his head, eyes narrowing as he very carefully inspected his surroundings. Had he just imagined it?

His ears gave a subtle twitch as a nearby flute played, and it felt like something grabbed him in the chest and yanked hard. What was that melody? It was so familiar…like he…

Like he was the one who wrote it.

He jumped into a glide, moving nearly in silence from stone to stone as he approached the tune.

When he finally heard the sound loud and clear, it drifted away. Unfamiliar blues met his own morning frost, wide and startled.

He felt uncomfortable and comfortable.

He hated and loved.

He felt nothing and everything.

He felt lost and yet…

“Wei Ying?” The name spilled from his lips as if he’d said it a thousand times, without even knowing if this was the man he was looking for.

The other’s eyes glistened and although he was most definitely a demon, one of Lan Wangji’s natural enemies, he couldn’t help but rush over in order to hold the demon as he cried. He bawled, clutching the angel’s robes as if he were a child instead of a grown, fully realized demon.

Lan Wangji found that he couldn’t pull himself away anymore.

Also hihi tio tommy :333!!!! Me and tio tommy are just chilling in space so dw!!! A lot of qsmp lore happened today and one of the fed workers died in purgatory— a little creature that has been around for a while already (there is more of them too lol) and that the islanders decided to call luffy found the body went to qiesadilla island shpwed the proof and they just took them to interview it ig?? The workers are seem infected in some kind of weird dark matter or the binary code thing

Also luffy apparently was send here bythe watcher that is basically this thing:

It appeared first as soon as everybody entered to purgatory in a cinematic

Some theories are going around saying that this watcher could actually represent us as cucurucho at the end of the stream put the drawing on his office and started asking it question changed his pov to be us the ciewers dirextly looking at him and asking "why? What who are you, curious" (these are not the accurate lines he said but some of them) which really puts things into perspective—

But as a more happy note!! After the event of today that was basically a very wild game of flags and stuff all of the players just started to chill around and spend time together which makes me happy cuz purgatory has really tear a lot of us apart and then here we are!!

I know that, as a survival game, there has to be a way to y'know, survive subnautica until you're eventually rescued, but Ingo being in the late stages of the virus and Emmet clearly being infected too has me stressing. No need for spoilers if you don't want, but I have no idea /how/ they're gonna do it in time or if it'll be soon enough to actually save Ingo before he's simply progressed too far into it that he's past the point of being saved. I don't typically play games, pokemon ones being the rare exception, but I do watch a lot of playthroughs, so maybe I can find one of those if you're not interested in spoiling it for your other readers lol

fortunately tumblr has these nifty things called line breaks. subnautica spoilers under the cut

so part of the game of subnautica is that, as you keep going deeper and deeper, you're chasing the degasi crew, but you're also following the remains of the aliens who tried to colonize this planet before you. who also fell prey to kharaa, and tried in vain to find a cure before they finally quarantined the entire planet.

the kharaa bacterium decimated most life on the planet, except for the crater where you happen to land. what you find out, as you explore the alien ruins, is that the reason the crater's survived is because there's something manufacturing an enzyme that can temporarily abate symptoms, and that has the potential to destroy the disease entirely. that something is the Sea Emperor: the largest known species on the planet, top of the Leviathan Class, sapient and capable of telepathy... and almost entirely extinct, save for a single living specimen and five eggs, that have been imprisoned in an aquarium in an alien research facility. trapped for a thousand years after the aliens died.

the living sea emperor has outlived her natural lifespan by about a thousand years, and wouldn't be capable of producing the enzyme anyway. but her eggs—if you help her hatch them, and release them around the crater, they'll completely destroy kharaa. so, that's the cure. the trick is just 1) making something that can survive the trip down to the containment facility, and 2) manufacturing the thing that'll help the eggs hatch. neither of which are easy per se.

also: i mentioned telepathy? yeah, the sea emperor starts contacting you in visions long before you ever approach the containment facility. and one of the degasi crew notes that the visions get worse the more the infection progresses. so, that's probably something ingo's dealing with

Dies pretty much right away: Tarantulus, Blackarachnia, Tigertron, Optimus, Rhinox, any number of cross-infected wildlife where the virus jumped species

Initial Survivors: Megatron, Dinobot, Rattrap, Cheetor, Terrorsaur, Waspinator, Scorponok, Airrazor, Inferno

Final Five: Megatron, Cheetor, Waspinator, Scorponok, Rattrap

Reasoning:

Tarantulus makes the virus and has it bite him in the face as soon as he realizes he screws up lol.

Blackarachnia is the one he was experimenting on??? Maybe? Tarantulus infects her and she bites him after she turns and oh boy zombie spiders!!!!! <3

Tigertron is an outdoor cat and that's all the ammunition we need. He gets mobbed by the spiders and gets turned.

Optimus gets bitten by virtue of needing to remove a powerful character from being able to help the others plot-wise. He'd probably go out looking for Tigertron and get turned by any of the three previously aforementioned zombies.

Rhinox is also a very powerful character but also very sympathetic, so he'd probably see Optimus and Tigertron approaching the Axalon in a State (c) and rush out to help them, only to get attacked and eaten.

Megatron actually being a survivor in this timeline would be like... a really fun way to explore how he would tackle the leadership role dynamic now that he also has the Maximals as "allies" in all this. Would he try to control them? Does he actually reveal some leadership qualities? He'd' probably survive up until close to the end but I imagine he has a last minute Big Hero Moment despite everything that came before. Face Heel Turn guy for the win.

Dinobot is a survivor as well as a warrior so of course he also lasts until close to the end. Maybe he goes down with Megatron as one final way to wrap up their stories.

Rattrap also definitely survives for the longest. Between him and Cheetor being the last two "original" Maximals he'd feel a very intense need to protect the kid and live for the sake of the friends who didn't.

Cheetor survives as an apology for Beast Machines lmfao.

Terrorsaur wouldn't make it all the way to the end (maybe dying in the second act or close to the beginning of the third) but it's enough time for some much needed character development.

Waspinator survives because of course he does.

SURPRISE, Scorponok not only would survive until close to the very end, but his very straightforward engineering skills make him one of the best compliments to the survivors overall. Everyone considers him useless during the course of the Beast Wars but in the zombie apocalypse he's a key factor to everyone's survival. He probably figures out first that it's headshots that do the trick. He also keeps everyone's guns and weapons up to snuff.

Airrazor lives initially but probably dies trying to reason with Tigertron or something, idk. :(

Inferno also lives for awhile but probably runs outside at some point to be a distraction for the others in the Colony (c) and gets torn to pieces.

I think that covers it for a S1 arc of Zombie Beast Wars but the lineup of survivors vs. not-survivors changes up during a S2 timeline.

oh absolutely, if I've already died I'm not using my body for anything so I have no issue with it helping someone else survive

25. A classic - would you rather know the date of your death or the way you die? Would you rather know when you die or when your closest loved one dies?

I'd probably rather know when I'm going to die but only if it isn't soon, if I found out how I was going to die I'd spend the rest of my life avoiding that thing like the plague and be worried every time I needed to interact with whatever the cause is and I already have enough anxiety lol

fun fact about me that sounds fake! call it being psychic or what have you but every person who has died who is close to me except for one I've dreamt about their death the night before so I'm kinda used to being prepared ahead of time for the death of a loved one so I choose that lol

39. What taboo do you think should be discussed more, if any? Alternatively, do you think a topic that isn't taboo should be?

there are so many taboo topics I could do essays on why they should be spoken about more lol but I'll say kink

I'm generally of the opinion that nothing should be taboo to talk about, there should be boundaries but boundaries like waiting to discuss death with your child until they're mature enough to handle it not "don't discuss this with anyone ever" lol

65. When you look in the mirror, do you see yourself or your reflection? Do you make the distinction between those things?

I see my reflection, my self is a more abstract concept and my reflection is ever changing, sometimes reflecting my self but not always

I don't know if I believe in ghosts in the traditional sense of it being a deceased person but I definitely believe in spirits and I accidentally summoned a demon in elementary school that terrorized me until after college so that was fun!

recently watched horror

No spoilers for anything character-related. 

NOPE (movie)- Finally saw this the other week. Held off for a long time because the 2 things I heard about it were “its gory” and “its a movie about how bad the audience is for wanting to watch movies” and having watched it... that’s not it at all.  1) it’s not gory, its BLOODY.  Gore to me means guts spilling out and limbs ripped off.  There is, at one point, a whole house’s worth of blood, and sounds of violence off-screen, but no real gore.  2) It’s critical of the entertainment industry and “spectacle”, but I’d more say the theme is the desire to be seen and the horror of being seen.

The Last of Us (tv) (1st 3 episodes)- I did not play the game, but have seen screencaps and gifs of it, so had a vague idea of what it was about (middle-aged man and teenage girl navigating through the mushroom apocalypse) but had no idea so much of the show so far would take place in Massachusetts!  I’ve been to that museum!  The stairs ARE creaky! There were shoulder-to-shoulder crowds at Fanueil Hall in the early 2000s, but not actual zombies, just tourists lol.   Episodes 3-  those are the wrong pine trees!  I think these scenes were filmed in Canada, not Mass.  Not to say there can’t be those kinds of evergreens here and there but they are artificially planted... the actual forest would have white pines and swamp cedars (and plenty of oaks, birches, and maples mixed in).

That’s at least 3 kinds of fungi (cordyceps, mycelium, shelf mushrooms) combined in the show that make up the infection, none of which are major concerns to human health in the real world.  There are fungi that increase their chances of infecting humans the hotter the climate gets, but its not cordyceps, you only have to worry about that if you’re an ant.  https://www.cdc.gov/fungal/diseases/index.html .   Candida is the one you’ve got to worry about in the real world... that’s what destroyed my mother’s kidneys, blood, and brain and even when they got the infection out after trying again and again at 3 different hospitals, she was never the same, left her ill and suffering from dementia, and she eventually died.  So yes be afraid of fungal infections, but you’re not going to grow side-of-trees mushrooms out of your face anytime soon.

Ha! It's 'only' 36,605 words so far, and will end up around 40k by the end I think. I actually wrote it a while ago but have been going back and forth on how I want to do the ending now that I've passed the climax. What will be the epilogue, essentially. I'm focused on my Daredevil fic right now because I think I'll be able to have everything but a few 'connector' scenes written by Febuary or earlier if I keep up momentum, and that's gonna be a 300k+ monster lol. So I'd expect Rewind to be ready for beta not long after that, then posting by spring?

As for what it's about, for the snippet I'll just post the first section of the fic, and that should give a good sense of it 😉

[Section Start]

The first time Jim dies, he doesn't realize that he has.

As soon as Kodos finishes his speech, Jim tries to run, just like everyone else, and he actually succeeds in getting away.

As far as he can tell, no one else does.

He's hiding behind the municipal building, panting and shaking and thinking about how the only people who ever gave a damn about him are dead. Mowed down by phaser fire like the rest of the 'lesser' colonists gathered in the square for execution.

The few friends he made are dead, and Uncle Samuel and Aunt Laurie are dead, and his mother and brother are gone, and if he makes it out of this alive he'll have nowhere to go but back to Frank and -

He barely has time to register the fact that a phaser rifle is pointed at him before he's killed.

When he wakes up in his bed in Samuel and Laurie's house, he thinks it was a really vivid nightmare, even if he remembers the details in a way he doesn't usually.

Then at dinner that night Uncle Samuel tells him the news that the colony's crops have been infected by a fast-growing fungus, and Jim thinks that maybe he was wrong. But that's crazy, so he tries to put it from his mind.

A week later Uncle Samuel tells him they've been called to gather in front of the town hall, and Jim knows.

This time he tries to run even before Kodos finishes talking, but one of the soldiers grabs him before he can get away, and he dies with the rest of them.

He wakes up in the same bed again, and this time he doesn't dismiss what he remembers.

It still goes badly. No one will listen to him, because Kodos is popular and up until now he's done nothing but good for the colony. Aunt Laurie starts giving him these worried looks, and he tries not to despair.

When they're all herded into the center of town, he hangs back as much as he can. Samuel and Laurie give him more of those looks, but they hang back with him, standing at the edge of the group.

Before Kodos begins, Jim spots his friends, and several other kids, and he waves them all over. Luckily, most of them come, and he quickly gathers them close and whispers that as soon as Kodos finishes what he's saying that Jim's going to start running, and they should follow.

A couple of them look at him like he's crazy, which he's half convinced he is, but the rest just nod and look scared. When the shooting starts they all go, even Samuel and Laurie, but his Uncle and Aunt are tall and they get picked off before they get very far.

Three of the kids get hit, too, but the rest make it to the municipal building with Jim. This time he doesn't pause, just looks around the corner and takes off again, and the others follow.

Four of them starve to death before Jim does, and when he comes to, still inside the cave, and sees all four are there, still alive, he thinks he knows what's happening.

So there it is! TL;DR: basic premise is that when Jim dies time 'rewinds' to a week previous and he wakes up retaining the memory of what happened. It's AOS, so you can just imagine the shenanigans that will ensue lol.

ive been writing on and off for abt 3 years abt uhh, what IF a gman-esque chara took saburo's relic soon after he died and stuck it into some random person "to see what would happen" and that unfortunate person is cel, who was then forced to have a cyberdeck installed. but bc shes a benzodiazepine addict, she doesnt get brain infected (lol) like V. anyway theyre stuck together for like 8 months and in that time its just an exploration of "forgetting what youth felt like" and how even as a nationalistic bigot, wouldn't some sorts of attachments be made when you're forced to live in some girl's personal and intimate life, especially someone as eccentric as cel. being forced to consume media (really shitty media)

-all servants, male and female, knew exactly who was above and below them, and their place was really hammered into their head.

-(i think they were called footmen. i dont remember) footmen, the head of all servants in men, were picked by how attractive and tall they were. no qualifications other than that

-when people came over to the house, all the servants lined up in front of the house as a status symbol to the people who lived there. the more servants you had, the richer you were

-if you got 'dismissed without character' (i think thats the wording) it is very difficult to get a job after that. you will probably never get to be a servant again (or even work at all, in some cases)

-i forget the word but the head servant of the lady of the house was mostly in charge of the other servants and was responsible for dressing their lady for parties and such

-the main woman (the lady) of the household had to wear a new hairstyle and dress every single time people came. why i dont know yet

the armor that knights wore weighed around 50 pounds, im not sure if that counts the chainmail they wore under the suit of armor or not. the ventilation in said suits sucked ass and they often died from heat exhaustion.

said chainmail would get inside battle wounds (if it got through the armor) and cause further infection . youch

peasant's children started helping as soon as they could walk. they had to raise crops for their lord and then raise their own animals and crops to feed themselves

their (peasants) houses were only one room, and their farm animals usually housed with them. sickness !

castles had closets that literally just had a hole. the piss hole. it had straw sometimes for toilet paper purposes. sometimes enemies raiding a castle sent somebody to climb UP the piss hole to get inside which was not desirable for many reasons.

oh also peasants often washed clothes in the same buckets that they peed in bc it came out cleaner than washing it in the river .

Bit of a double update today because I forgot to post my last HK session from a few days ago lol.

Pretty much all I did was go through the crystal peaks, just exploring and trying to find the crystal heart. The parkour to it intimidated me a bit, and I think I died two or three times, but after I got through the first few platforms I got the ability pretty easily.

After that I spent some more time exploring and found Cornifer, then tried to go the bench at the top of the map and saw there was a boss sitting on it (definitely didn't cry inside) and spent about 15 minutes trying to beat it. After that I kept wandering around (most certainly was not avoiding a boss fight in the soul sanctum), and eventually made my way back to the forgotten crossroads to test out the crystal heart on that one area above the false knight. Which led to another fight... sigh

Man I was not having fun with that aspid fight, and I died soooo many times its not even funny. I think it took me like, 20-30 minutes to get through it, but y'know, I got the charm so... yaay

After that I sucked it up and headed to the soul sanctum to fight the soul master, and I don't remember if I mentioned this last time or if I did this last session, but I beat the soul warrior on my first try which was really nice. That fight was actually pretty fun (mostly because I got hits in more than I got hit lol), but then I had to face the Soul Master. I think I only tried two or three times before I quit and went to sleep. Both because I was tired of the fight and because I had to go to sleep.

Which brings us to today.

I kept up the fight with the Soul Master (after a three or something day break haha), and actually managed to get him to his winded stage second or third try! I sadly died soon after, but my attempts kept getting shorter. I'm sure that the fight would have been even shorter if my upslash worked but apparently my up button is dead on this keyboard so I've binded it to the control key, but that's a bit klunky. Anyways. After I got him to the winded phase I got to the second phase pretty quickly, but I ate a couple of dives in the face and didn't have enough masks to finish the fight. But the next round, oh boy the next round. I think it took me around seven minutes to get from the bench to the final blow, I was going at it! That was actually really fun, I barely got hit, I was recognizing attacks and getting good blows it, it was great!

After the fight I spent some time wandering around the new area, using the desolate dive, and then decided to head back to the forgotten crossroads. I used the ability in the top section of the crystal peaks (I tried to stop and talk to Myla but she was already infected :( ), and then went left to the area with the... brooding mawlek fight.

Jesus christ that fight.

I think it may have taken me more attempts than the soul master fight, it was so frustrating. I think the only reason I finally beat it was because I equipped the mark of pride, because I killed it right after that. But man, I was not having fun. You should have seen my face when I saw the reward was a mask shard. Like... thanks! But damn! Such an annoying fight for that T-T

I think my next goal is either going to be totally exploring the royal waterways and finding Isma's tear, or finally sucking it up and... exploring deepnest...

Aaaand that was pretty much it for the day. I only played for about an hour and a half but I now have around 22 hours in Hollow Knight. Idk when I'm going to get to play again, but I don't have work Monday or Tuesday so fingers crossed!

Do Sun, Moon and Y/N in your Detective AU have sad back stories? I can understand if Y/N isn’t necessarily worked out since their own personal history/issues are completely up for the reader to come up with/interpret, but I am curious if you do have darker/hidden emotions for the trio. ALSO, does Y/N stay up researching their files for more clues to the point of exhaustion? Not necessarily an insomniac, but someone who sees sleep as a reward type? (Love your AU btw!!)

Yes actually! Sun, moon, and eclipse were a family before things went a little haywire, but let me info/loredump on ya because this has been sitting in my mind for months and I keep forgetting to type it out but:

In this AU robots can also “grow up”(think of the Robots movie and how they gradually updated their son) because it was much MUCH cheaper to create a smaller sized AI than a full grown one. Eclipse was built already grown and adopted sun and moon from his creator after his creator died from “health complications”. Luckily eclipse is very gifted in technology and from what he learned from his creator, so in theory IF HE WANTED TO he could just create another sun and moon, but he won’t because no one else could possibly replace his little brothers.

Sun and moon were kids!! Yippee!! Eclipse at the time during the two of them in their ‘childhood’ if you will was the head detective and soon to be chief, he was fascinatingly effective in his work and a literal role model for the robots who wanted to work in the field despite the oppression from humans. This also included both sun and moon, and wouldn’t ya know it, once time came when sun and moon got their jobs and began working (think of the show psych, big inspiration lol) they were a goofy duo but were ALSO very effective in their work. The three of them were a force to be reckoned with.

Eclipse was never really over the death of their creator and spent a lot of time researching into it, to really summarize it, it got messy and intertwined with some Big companies, eventually eclipse knew he was being trailed and that he would not survive it within the law, so he TRIED going private and personally trained sun and moon about EVERYTHING he knew, passing the baton to them in hopes so they could finish what he couldn’t.

Eclipse becoming an infamous mafia boss and cutting ties with them was a mix of his own faults and “falling down a rabbit hole of madness”.

Also! As for their relationship with y/n, eclipse is actually VERY ‘quiet and menacing type’ and rarely does physical contact, best way to explain his behavior now is the vibe of a snake and a black panther with how quiet and composed he is. (Again, another inspo is Kingpin from marvel) he knows how close y/n is to his little brothers so his infected side wants to emotionally manipulate that.

(Also yes y/n can be VERY stubborn with that kind of reward system!)

After all with such a bad guy on the streets, no one would ever suspect the true villain pulling the strings, the cause of it all right?
