Watching Exandria Unlimited Calamity again, and one of my absolutely favourite moments is still when Aabria as Laerryn (abjuration wizard) is informed that the wizard she just absolutely deleted inside a single turn with a fireball/construct combo happened to be an evocation wizard:

“Oh, an evoker? Anyone can cast fireball, bitch! You’re not special!”

Just immediately, straight off the cuff. I just love the immediate pettiness and kneejerk dissing of the man’s school, after basically killing the man with what should have been his own weapon, an evocation spell. Wizards are so petty and I love it.

And, I mean. To be fair. Laerryn is an abjuration tank who stayed standing through the fairly literal end of the world (granted, with the help of a timely Healing Word), and this guy went down in a single turn without getting so much as a shot off. A fireball doesn’t need to be boosted if it does its job the first time and you back it up with a quite literal one-two punch from a summoned construct to tie this combat in a bow. Evokers are flashy. Abjurers, apparently, are thorough. But still. So petty.

(As am I, because abjuration is my second favourite school after illusion, and I’m not feeling remotely smug-by-association here, not at all. Heh)

Thinking about what Minthara's reaction would be to dismissing Gale as a short-lived wizard that will just die the next time he's on the battlefield, only to discover he's running one of those broken abjuration builds that are literally invincible.

Of all the spells in bg3, I get the most satisfaction out of casting counterspell. Is it sexy and flashy no. Is it even all that high-tier? Ehhhhh. But there is just something unmatched about "I cast spell of nah fuck that." Spell of "you tried though"

Week 6: Abjuration - Magic Circle

For week 6, I drew my OC, Cyrus!

This is probably the most complicated piece I've done for this challenge (both in terms of character design and the number of pieces for the effects), but I love how it came out! The barrier was the toughest part and I probably redrew it a dozen times because I couldn't decide how I wanted it to look. Here I was trying to capture the wall being formed; I like to think the circle rotates and grows bigger as the cylinder reaches its full height. Sometimes it feels like abjuration gets overlooked because it's not the damage-dealing school, but I think its got some pretty awesome spells!

What species is Croissant, anyway? They have elfin (or gith) ears, but their eyes don't look like anyone else's

Trying to be very normal about answering this since I've been spinning Croissant's lore around in my head like a microwave for months.

Croissant is a half-elf!

Their mother is a wood elf, and their father is a fey of the fox persuasion (drawn glamoured and unglamoured). Croissant gets their eyes from him, though they didn't always look like that.
