anyone got any tips for making lace up boots more accessible? a lot of the accessible laces I see are more meant for trainers or running shoes, not boots with a protected ankle. Any punky crips got experience trying accessible laces on docs or solovairs? if so, what do you recommend? any accommodation advice is helpful

Steve will swear up and down that he isn't a nerd but after years of hanging out with exclusively nerds and starting to get their references and make his own (he doesn't enjoy it it's just their fault for talking about this stuff all the time)
That is until they try larping for the first time and Steve is thrilled and thriving and asking when they can again because he gets to be active and physical and actually be a part of the story in a way that he can't with dnd
#steve harrington being a nerd#he asks eddie to help him plan one out#because even if steve has good concepts and a decent plan#he isnt a writer#and has no idea how to make a compelling adventure#it also is a fun way to trick a buch of nerds into working out#i dont actually know stuff about larping#but think it looks like fun#if anyone has any tips for finding wheelchair accessable larping let me know#steve harrington#eddie munson#steddie#stranger things

transmasc tips next time you need underwear you can look for boyshorts/boxer briefs sold in the women's (albiet anyone can wear them) section :3 also also if you need a haircut at some point google maps has a neat little feature where if you click on the hairsalon pin, go down to "related to your search" and press see all, it'll go to like this big menu, go down to features and it'll have a lot of cool things about it, like if its wheelchair acessable, if its LGBTQ+ friendly and a transgender safe space, woman owned, and payment methods. (Ok well i guess thats an everybody tip there ^^) ok i have gifted knowledge time to dissapear for a little bit :3 (edit was for clarification of language !!)

AUTHORS AND WRITERS OF TUMBLR
! this font is not accessible !
i’ve seen a lot of fics posted on this site using this tiny font.
within settings on your phone and tumblr you can change the font size in the app, which makes it more accessible for disabled folks who have a hard time reading (like myself) however, the settings do not work on mobile for this tiny font
i sincerely BEG of you please do not post your ENTIRE fic in this font. you are alienating readers and actively making your art inaccessible.
#if anyone knows any tricks please share them with me#it is HEARTBREAKING to find a fic i want to read only to see the entire thing written like that#knowing i cannot read it bc of an aesthetic choice by the author#writing#writing print#tumblr authors#fanfic#fanfic tips#tw ableism#ableist tw#accessibility

I saw a post the other day about being able to get cane tips from Ace Hardware. I can't find that original post again, so here I am making my version.
First thing to note, I live in a rural town where we don't have all the options at a store that you might find in the city.
I needed to buy more cane tips, since I just changed it a couple days ago. And since I will put off getting new ones when I need one until I fall and hurt myself (true story), I have decided that if I do it asap after using my last one, it will be better.
So. Post, Ace Hardware, cheaper options for the same thing? Yes.
I could talk about the whole trip, lack of spoons, multiple tries, but not right now. Point is, I bought some, and I'm not really sure about them.

We have my current/ new tip next to the 4 pack I just bought. I feel like the new ones probaly won't last longer than a month each. This could be that I'm too hard on my cane, it could be that I'm just exaggerating, since I don't know for sure, but the new ones don't look as durable to me?
Maybe I got the wrong thing, but this is the only thing my particular store had. I'll try them in a couple months, when I need a new one, but I'm a little worried about using them.
#cane user#disability#accessibility#cane user tips#bee says#walking canes#I'm all for finding less expensive ways to do things#but i'm thinking this particular tip or trick isn't for me.#time will tell

hello kit! im a bit confused abt the kofi thing- if i subscribe for this month, unsubscribe for the next and then subscribe again for the 3rd month, can i still reread the ficlets of the 1st month? i can't really afford to subscribe every month
hello hello! So the ko-fi thing:
every month (maybe even twice a month, I know I’m gonna post another in October for instance), I’ll upload a picture (a screenshot of a color swatch from Google) and put in the description the summary of the au that this is a ficlet for + a Google doc link to that ficlet
the title is also going to be the au title and everyone who goes to my gallery on kofi can see the title, but the image and the description are hidden from everyone but current monthly subscribers (quick plug: it’s $4!)
so my understanding is if you unsubscribe, you would lose access to those descriptions of the uploads and thus lose access to the Google doc links.
BUT I don’t see anything wrong with saving the Google doc link on your end while you have access, either in a bookmark or in some sort of word doc bank of links idk. The Google doc is set to “anyone with the link can view”, which is a whole separate thing from the ko-fi settings, so if you keep the link, you’d be able to view anytime during the second month that you wouldn’t have a subscription.
AND if you chose to subscribe during the third month after cancelling your subscription for the second month, you’d then get access to all the ficlet links, months 1-3.
#asks#also I believe if you subscribe now and then cancel tomorrow you’re technically a monthly subscriber from October 8-November 8#and tbh id want to be posting these in the beginning few days of each month#so if you monthly support via kofi during the second or third week of the month you’d probably get access to the most amount of fic#or you could even wait until like December and get a nice lil treat for yourself#side note lol I think I’m bad at kofi I’m actively telling you tips and tricks on how to not do the subscription rn 🤣#anyway since came back from the dead wrong won the poll I’m gonna do a Halloween one shot for that but I’ll upload like either#a vampire au ficlet or the wereworlf gffa au ficlet to the kofi#for optimal spooky

oh yes on the topic of submissions...
i had one from someone in my inbox from YONKS ago that tumblr is not letting me post for some reason. that person also sent me an ask about whether i could provide links to the videos/places i found the comments on (i would just answer their ask but it explicitly references their submission which, again, tumblr won't let me post... and also it was from ages ago) so let me answer that here
unless i think that mentioning the source amplifies the comment, or provides some humorous context, i usually don't do that as a general rule. if someone asks for the comment source and i still remember what it was, i'll tell them, but i don't tend to mention it explicitly on the post itself
i don't tend to redact pfps or usernames (to give some form of credit to the authors of the comments, sometimes they make the comment better, they're already public on the internet & usually posted on videos by youtubers exponentially more popular than my blog & usually post obscure comments i had to scroll for quite a while to find anyway, it's fun when someone recognizes their own username, etc etc), so this is an alternate method of security against people trying to be weirdos to the featured commenters. most of my posts come from youtube, which doesn't even have a direct messaging system anymore, which is simultaneously why i feel fairly comfortable leaving pfps/usernames unredacted on these comments and why i feel it's better if i try not to provide TOO many context hints at least in the actual text of the post. just on the off chance some bitter weirdo wants to try being a bitter weirdo, you know? and if someone goes all the way out of their way to try and track these comments down explicitly to bully these people, then at this point, it kinda seems like redacting that stuff wouldn't have helped anyway. while i definitely do not condone harassing anyone from here, i also... don't think it'd exactly be My fault there, and entirely the fault of this hypothetical extremely brainrotted rando. this has, to my knowledge, never once happened, but just putting that out there
i do give little hints or context notes in the tags on occasion, under the general assumption that anyone following this blog knows that this is a place of comment appreciation, an art gallery of Internet Humans. usually it only extends to mentioning the youtuber or what type of video it was, but as a general statement. this is the other part of my philosophy here: i enjoy hunting for comments as a sort of peoplewatching-esque hobby and i think other people should try it out (so long as they have the self-restraint to NOT reply to people even if they make you mad. it's never worth it man.). i also think it'd be a fun treat for someone to only get a hint, figure out what video it was, and then go on their own hunt and see the comments in the wild. i often skip over Loads that don't quite make the cut so you'll probably find something else fun in there
does that make sense? it does to me. anyway if anyone ever wants to know where i found a comment just ask and i'll tell you, so long as i remember. fair warning, the older the post the comment is on, the more likely i am to have forgotten what specific video it was. i usually at least have a vague idea of the original poster and/or the content/topic of the video but sometimes i don't
#not comments#i can tell you right now anything 2021 or earlier was very likely from someone in the drew gooden/danny gonzalez commentary youtuber bubble#contemporaneously and as per my personal taste at the time: drew/danny/cody ko/eddy burback/maybe jarvis johnson?#never really been into kurtis's style so idk if there's anything from him on here#i watched jarvis back then the question mark pertains mostly to whether any of the comments came from his videos#danny has Loads of videos more subs and an audience that skews younger than the rest#(because his style of humor is more accessible/appealing to a wider audience than say drew's extremely dry humor)#(and also he's got a young face. people constantly comment stuff like 'i forget he isn't 16 until he mentions his wife')#so most of my posts are likely from a danny video somewhere#the hamster with a handgun was from his video titled something like DOGS ARE CANCELLED#there were approximately 500 other comments making that exact same joke but the hamster one was the funniest imo#i don't even care if it was a piggyback comment. '31 warning shots directly into his stomach' was leagues ahead of the rest#anyway. there's my tip and trick if you're curious about older posts#there are exceptions and anytjing 2022 and beyond is more ambiguous#cause my posts were more sporadic i think because video essays were getting more popular & i don't find as many postable comments on those#but i was and am addicted to them#so rather than being able to say 'oh probably a commentary youtuber it was all i was watching' the really good comments are like#'ummm... hmmm... well this one was on some random how it's made video... this was a minecraft video... this was jerma...'#anyway. i have gotten distracted. need to go do some non-comment writing. some big boy writing

I'm pretty comfortable with the amount of progress I'm making in my Stardew save. I'm nearing the end of year 2 and while it's not the Maximum Efficiency Possible, I've just gotten a pig and the furniture catalogue, and I'm happy to play at my own pace as intended
#I do wish I could make my farm look prettier but that'll take a lot of planning and overhauling my crop-growing section#I'm only three items off finishing the community centre which I'm especially proud of :)#I think I am not good at decorating though so if anyone has any tips help me out 😭#I also have a sewing machine and access to the yellow couch trick so I'm set in that department

Tips for organisers - Everyone can contribute!
Not everyone is going to be able to take part in public action. And that is fine. There is plenty of work that can be done in terms of organising that is a lot more accessible.
Everyone has their own skill set, and everyone will be able to help out in some way. No matter how seemingly small the contribution.
I say "seemingly" because I know of a lot of organisers who overlook record keeping and the "less actionny" work that is often a fundamental part of organising! The "small" work is usually the most important!
This is all to say DO NOT WRITE OFF DISABLED WORKERS AS USELESS. It's unbelievably frustrating in its lightest cases, and actively harmful and ableist in its most severe cases.

So if you or a loved one has dexterity issues or reasons why dressing one-handed is necessary but have plenty of button up tops etc. There's an awesome tool that can be found via searching, "Pocket Dresser".
It helps hook the buttonhole side over or to the button side. So that's pretty cool that it exists.
I have not used one. (I did have a period in my life where it probably would have been VERY helpful though.)
So if you have experience using one or some other assistive device that helps with dressing. Please reblog with your experiences below.
(For the record, those that are struggling with flexibility in shoulders, Men's shirts have larger arm holes. I wore men's wifebeaters almost exclusively when recovering from a broken collarbone and scary muscle stuff related. Getting dressed was incredibly hard in that era. Anyone struggling with that, you have my sympathies and well wishes. Also, depending on the issue, clothes that open in the front and split down the middle, can be really helpful. Also Ponchos are awesome.)
#dressing#getting dressed#dressing tips#help getting dressed#accessibility#disability issues#dexterity issues#flexibility issues#fine motor skills issues#amputee tips#(Maybe.)#I have also heard/seen some individuals successfully get sleeves across both shoulders by threading a scarf through one side...#there may be a trick to it that I do not understand.

Recent thing for me: I have permanent wire retainers behind my front four teeth on both my top and bottom jaw. It makes flossing those teeth difficult. I wasn’t flossing regularly for a long while. But I can make myself do it more often if I just forgive myself for those six gaps in my teeth. They’re not the spots having problems because of me not flossing anyways.
If the right way is too hard, fuck it. Do it the wrong way.
Folding clothes keeps you from getting the laundry done? Stop folding clothes. Put a basket in your room and throw your unfolded clean stuff into it right out of the dryer, it's fine.
Rinsing dishes off keeps you from loading the dishwasher? Load them dirty and run it twice.
Chopping onions keeps you from making yourself dinner? Buy the freezer bags of chopped onions.
You forget to take your meds and don't want to get out of bed to get them? Start putting them next to the bed.
Can't keep up with the dishes? Get paper plates. Worried about environment impact? Order biodegradable ones online if your local store doesn't have one.
Make the task easier. Put things where you use them instead of where they "go." Eliminate the steps that keep you from finishing the task. Eliminate the task that is stressing you out.
Do it the "wrong" way. It's literally fine.
