I know I’m new to aftg so I’m sure I’m not the first to say this but STILL Neil is so ADHD-coded because the boy who spent half his life running and never stable can’t NOT have attention and impulse issues!! Exy as his hyperfixation and something that calms him down. It’s all he can talk about, even when other people don’t care (*cough cough* Andrew) The cigarette smoke/smoking as a stimming behavior, not being able to focus in class, can’t NOT run his mouth even when he really shouldn’t. Imagine that boy on Adderall

I love all the different ways people draw Neil's scars but I'd love to see what they'd likely look like from a medical POV. I sliced my thumb open wide and it healed into a thin white scar. I know someone who split their chin open and it healed into a thin white scar. My friend's C-section is a slightly thicker (but still fairly thin) white scar.

Is that, realistically, what most of Neil's scars have healed to?

about neil having ADHD. i honestly put that in my head too and i’m staning it. I also have adhd so i FELT that. but anyways can you do more with it. like a hc if neil maybe talking to bee about it or just telling andrew. and things just click. heartfelt shit you know.

Okay so I'm sorry I'm answering this so late bUt

Neil has no idea what adhd is

His mental health is a fucking shitshow (as we know)

But Andrew, who goes to therapy regularly, knows what's up

Bee gave him a few books on autism that aren't shit (because he does have autism, we have established that) and he finds a lot of posts online (does Andrew have a Tumblr?? I'd like to think so) about being autistic and he's like "wow other people experience this who woulda thunk"

And you probably already know this, but autism and adhd have a LOT of similarities, such as hyperfixations (I think some autistic people call it special interests or something similar), stimming, a general lack of emotions or overflow of emotions (or in reaction, not necessarily what they're feeling), etc

And so andrew (I like the idea that he researches things and just randomly knows niche facts about like, sea anenomes or some shit) delves deeper into adhd and what it is

And he's like "this is familiar and I don't know why"

And then he looks at neil, who is so deep into his calculus homework that Andrew could stab him and he probably wouldn't notice

And he's like "oh, yeah"

So andrew finds a good book on adhd, reads it (random, but I have this headcanon that Andrew is a really fucking fast reader. Like 600 wpm fast. [to people that don't know, the average person reads 250 words per minute]), and then one day just gives the book to neil with no explanation

Neil's like "???? Okay???"

And then he starts reading it (like three weeks later because he forgot about it) and for half of the shit he's like that one "haha I do that" vine but also freaking out because "what do you mean doesn't everyone feel this way???"

And then one day he and andrew are sitting on the roof or something and Neil says "I think I have adhd"

He knows that Andrew knows this, or else he wouldn't have given him the book

And Andrew knows that neil knows

But he's still like "yeah no shit"

He doesn't go to therapy because hes neil

But he does read more resources and articles and things

When he tells the foxes they are all also like "yeah we fucking know"

But Nickys also really happy because he also has adhd (can you see me projecting???), although it's much more hyperactive rather than neil's innattentive/combination self diagnosis

But nothing really changes

But neil feels so much more comfortable in his own skin

And that's what matters

i personally read neil as adhd but it took a lot of contemplation to get to that so i can definitely understand and respect an autistic reading of him. plus they're sister disorders with a great deal of overlap anyway

autistic renee is interesting. i haven't gotten around to really analyzing her under that lens but i can definitely see it. i'll have to think more on it

and yes you're definitely right there needs to be nd couples. like just from personal experience all my closest friends have either been nd or had close family who was, and honestly i don't know if i could really have a romantic relationship w a neurotypical. nd ppl just Get it
