2024 Important Dates

AKA my notes on The Astrology Forecast's 2024 Year Ahead Forecast, hosted by Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock. After the overview and January forecast, I'll put the rest of the year under a readmore. Overall, this year heralds technological innovations, and is a stepping stone into bigger developments in 2025 and 2026.

Overview

This year would be dramatic on its own, but with bigger shifts ahead in this decade, serves as a preview for even more dramatic changes in 2025 and 2026.

Pluto in Aquarius We only got about 6 weeks of Pluto in Aquarius in 2023, but this is will it where be for most of 2024 and the next 20 years. We're also getting the last of Uranus in Taurus (7-year transit) and Neptune in Pisces (14-year stay). These outer planets are wrapping up while Pluto starts something new.

Austin predicts Pluto in Aquarius will be a relief to those of us who've been suffering from Pluto in Capricorn. Historically, Chris traces the development of gunpowder, its refinement and transmission from China to Europe with Pluto in Aquarius. Warfare changed with these developments, particularly the strategies of siege. We should expect to see new technologies & applications in warfare now, particularly anti-drone weapons and uses of AI. Near-future science fiction stories from 20 years ago will look incredibly familiar, especially the "cyberpunk dystopia" and man-machine interfaces changing significantly. The first paper shop was set up in Baghdad in 793 under Pluto in Aquarius, and this technology spread around the world under different Pluto in Aquarius periods, with wide-ranging effects on mass communication. Technological espionage is also a theme of this placement--think AI uses, and the US trying to compete with Chinese microchips. This will also form an opposition to natal Pluto for baby boomers (1940s-60s), a transit that rarely occurs within a human lifetime. We'll see the culmination of this generation's power in the world, where figures like Biden or Trump or their contemporaries may have one last bid for power before they have to hand it to someone younger.

Chris actually used AI to help summarize his notes on this transit. With Pluto representing transformation and control, and Aquarius indicating the innovator and the rebel, some general themes are:

Major shifts in how technology shapes society, both empowering people and destructively.

Information warfare and control, especially among governments. Monopolies and censorship attempts will increase.*

Technological leaps. Breakthroughs from both internal research and external sources like cultural exchange or encounters with "that which is foreign/alien."

Science vs ethics: moral dilemmas, tension between curiosity & caution

Globalization on edge: the interconnected world may face challenges, but the exchange of information is crucial to progress. World trade and supply chains spanning the globe will change as countries shift certain sectors to more local production.

*history note: Pluto was in Aquarius during the Renaissance & Scientific Revolution, and the Church tried to censor this new information because it posed a threat to Papal power. Monarchs took state power from the church under Pluto in Aquarius, and the French Revolution under this placement showed the bourgeoisie really challenging the nobility under this placement. Most of the US constitution was written under Pluto in Aquarius--in fact the last Pluto in Aquarius period was during the late 18th century, so prepare for those paradigm shifts & revolutions to shift and revolt once again. New developments in physics and cosmology around dark matter and string theory, increased uses of AI, and new space probes may all prove to shake our ideas of where we stand with the rest of the universe.

Saturn conjunct Neptune Saturn prefers structure & the real world, while Neptune is a realm of imagination and illusions. In 2016 these planets squared each other and the political sound byte "fake news" was important. We no longer trust sound and video in addition to images, especially with advances in AI. Previous Saturn-Neptune contacts include the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the HUAC/McCarthy era in the USA. We'll be asking ourselves, "is this real?" We'll need to balance skepticism with imagination.

Another Saturn-Neptune in Pisces theme is pervasive feelings of despair and collective sorrow over water-related disasters, such as tsunamis or the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The first Saturn-Neptune conjunction of the 20th century was 1916-1919: disillusionment, skepticism, muddy trench warfare and chemical weapons. More positively, empathy, compassion, and service can come from those who fight for a better world despite hardships. However, Neptune will conjoin Saturn in Aries as well, which will have a much less compassionate flavor. This upcoming Pisces conjunction occurs right as Neptune is leaving the sign--which Piscean developments will get the Saturn stamp of approval and last beyond this decade? Neptune in Pisces has brought us an increased interest in the occult matters and psychedelics, ranging from tarot and astrology to modern cults to therapeutic uses of hallucinogens. Some of the skepticism we see will be the result of having been burned by Pisces Neptune events. Another related topic is augmented reality displays--Austin predicts that since it's been around for so long, if it doesn't take during Neptune & Saturn in Pisces, it probably won't take at all.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus This conjunction goes exact in April. In the material sign of Taurus, what sudden developments (Uranus) is Jupiter enabling? In one such application, AI technologies can help advance the field of materials science by designing new compounds & predicting their uses. There are a lot of technological developments bottlenecked by a single limitation, such as limited battery capacity, which if resolved would prompt an explosion of impressive new technologies. Quantum developments, Heisenberg's additions, different political revolutions, the sexual revolution & the Moon landing were under Jupiter-Uranus alignments, as were some of the earliest biology works in the Renaissance era. April will breakthroughs getting supported and confirmed. These come about every 13 years: in 2010 in Aries, 1990s in Aquarius. In 1941 we saw scientific breakthroughs as well, though Saturn's presence fittingly brought a much darker tone. Which house is Taurus in your chart? This transit can bring sudden insight & broaden your horizons in this area (A/N: timing techniques like progressions, Hellenistic profections, and zodiacal release can help you determine if Taurus will be especially "activated" for you around this time).

On the flipside, take care not to indulge in excessive naivete, uncritical embrace of rule-breaking in the name of progress, or getting caught up in fleeting euphoria. Once Uranus leaves, what will stay? What gets truly confirmed by Jupiter? Austin predicts major developments in cryptocurrency, which was not invented under Uranus in Taurus but did rise to prominence under this transit. Taurus also tells us to appreciate the material comforts, and this conjunction may show us a new approach to appreciating these things (like an AI snuggy that helps you sleep!). The potato chip and chocolate-chip cookie were also invented during Uranus in Taurus. More niche items have become more widely available (lab-grown meat, perhaps?), though food and energies has also become disproportionately more expensive/volatile during this transit. Taurus also signifies nature, botany, and ecology--we may see major developments in response to climate change. This is the last year of Uranus in Taurus--perhaps the cottagecore trend will have its last blows. Uranus in Gemini (A/N: 2025) will have us going back into the mainframe...(organic computers?)

Jupiter in Gemini This transit will be about a year long. Immediately upon entry to this sign Jupiter will trine Pluto, and later in the year he'll square Saturn. This will be a big shift, not just by sign, but because Jupiter goes from cooperating with Saturn to fighting him. Light-footed, fast, clever Gemini Jupiter clashes with deep, slow, heavy Pisces Saturn. Their sextile in January/February indicates the economy will likely seem to move in a good direction as the year begins, but the leviathan in the deep will stop us short.

Notable figures born under Jupiter in Gemini & Saturn in Pisces include Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison, bringing us new communications systems. Bell developed the telephone partially as part of efforts to help his mother and other deaf people, while Edison himself had major hearing issues and focused on visual phenomena. However, we have ethics questions too: Bell had issues patenting the telephone as the same day as another inventor--who got there first? (A/N: many of Edison's patents were invented by others with property rights surrendered to him.) Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails also has these placements, and he's gone from applying electronic music in rock to films in recent decades. Also born under Pisces Saturn & Gemini Jupiter: Moby, Björk, Alfred Pulitzer (known for pioneering both human interest stories and sensationalism).

Other Jupiter in Gemini keywords: speaking many languages, verbosity, versatility & adptability, self-education, many short experiments, and having a knack for or good luck in new machines. However, Jupiter is considered in exile/detriment in Gemini: this light sign may interfere with Jupiter's desire for deeper understanding. The first decan of Gemini is ruled by Jupiter, and the bound of Jupiter is early in the sign as well, (and Jupiter is a triplicity ruler for Gemini!) so we can actually have quite a strong Jupiter in the beginning of this transit. Pluto in Aquarius trines Jupiter at the start of this transit, and Jupiter will gladly go to work for Pluto's agenda. Expect major technology & information related developments in April-May. This also foreshadows Uranus's entry into Gemini, where he'll trine Pluto thrice.

During this time, all the planets in Gemini are also combust (so close to the Sun we can't see them, figuratively getting burned), so beware of burnout. Another Jupiter in Gemini native is Lana Wachowski (one of the creators of The Matrix). Her coming out story also inspired many, and Jupiter in Gemini is a good place for variety in gender expression. Unfortunately, concepts from her movie were also coopted by right-wingers ("redpilled"). Also under this placement is JK Rowling, initially known for writing increasingly verbose fantasy books, though in recent years has focused her resources on stopping the advancement of trans rights. Jupiter in Gemini is fast, but not always ethical.

Eclipses

In April we'll have an eclipse that's visible over much of the United States from Texas to Maine, occurring on an election year. In the Indian dasha system, the US entered a Rahu (North Node)-ruled time period 8 years ago, making it especially sensitive to eclipses. There won't be another total eclipse visible in the US until 2045, marking momentous changes. This is also a continuation of the Libra/Aries eclipse story, most recently from the Libra eclipse in October. In both our personal lives and world events we'll see a turning point in the spring. The eclipses this year are in March-April, and September-October (remember, eclipses always come in twos--one lunar, one solar!). The March/April eclipses will be especially chaotic with Mars-Saturn and Jupiter-Uranus conjunctions affecting the equinox. The fall eclipses will begin shifting towards the Pisces/Virgo axis, and the major renewals will shift focus from one area of our lives to another (check which house(s) contain these signs for you).

Comets 2024 will have two comets that may be visible to the naked eye--both during eclipses! The Pons-Brooks comet will be visible in April around the time of the Aries eclipse (and Jupiter-Uranus & Mars-Saturn conjunctions). This indicates a very important time in world history. The comet, which may become visible as the sky darkens, will pass right by the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. Chris's ancient sources say whether a comet is a good or bad omen depends on its color, brightness, and visibility once it gets here, but he's hopeful its contact with Jupiter-Uranus will be helpful to us. Austin points out it'll be difficult to distinguish the comet's specific effects from everything else going on at that time. The second comet visits us in October, right before eclipses and the US presidential election. "Hopefully we won't get the Game of Thrones Season 2/War of Five Kings comet," says Austin. Chris is going to publish an episode soon analyzing both ancient sources & doing his own historical research on comets, which have connections to wars, regime changes, and religious or political leaders being born.

Mars Austin points out that there will be consistent stelliums in the first half of the year (visible around the eclipses) before returning to more regular dispersal. Mars is also going to make volatile contacts to outer planets as well, really bringing military connotations, mostly earlier in the year and then picking up again at the end of the year with an opposition to Pluto & a retrograde. In fact, Mars enters Leo, the sign of his upcoming retrograde, 2 days before the US presidential election.

US history & election: Mars goes retrograde in the same sign every 79 years, shifting by about 4 degrees every time. Mars did this same retrograde back in the late 1700s when US states were ratifying the Constitution (Pluto was in Aquarius then like it will be in '24, and some other transits are the same as well). The next recurrence was during the passing of the 14th amendment after the Civil War, an amendment forbidding anyone who led an insurrection from entering office. Most recently Mars retrograded in this cycle in 1945-6, during the end of WW2 and stationing just before the birth of a certain controversial recent president. This upcoming Mars retrograde will occur in the same part of the zodiac as these other events.

Chris usually shies away from predicting election results outright because he considers himself too invested to be objective, but he gives us a rundown. Like 2016 this election occurs under a Saturn-Neptune conjunction, foreshadowing the us of AI in political propaganda. If it does end up being Biden vs Trump, Chris says as of now there are indicators for either side winning. For the past 30 years, every presidential election winner has had an eclipse in one of his angular houses (1/4/7/10) shortly before winning. The Aries/Libra eclipses don't fall in angular houses for either, but the Pisces eclipse in September occurs in Biden's 4th house, and the 10th of his running mate Kamala. In Trump's favor is zodiacal releasing: he's starting a 19-year peak period releasing from spirit (career/aspirations) in 2025 just after the election. (This is one of the things that threw Chris off in the 2016 election, since a president elected for 2 consecutive terms then wouldn't be in office anymore in 2025.) This peak period activates the sign of Leo for him, the first house, and contains his natal Mars, bringing fighting and difficulty to the foreground. (A/N: Mars is also entering Leo around the time of the election, so whether he wins or not, we'll be seeing a lot of him.) That's a basic overview, and Chris will discuss other factors as the year progresses. Austin points out we have a perfect Mars-Pluto opposition the day before the election, and Mars stations in Leo right as the electors meet to officially vote. This election is heavily tied to the Mars retrograde, which continues until a few months into 2025. Pluto will take Mars's significations to bigger extremes as well as hidden power plays. Taking place January 20th at noon, Inauguration Day always takes place at the beginning of Aquarius season with the Sun in the 10th house, but Pluto's going to conjoin the Sun as well this year, which Chris predicts will start a new era of American history. Two of the debates fall on eclipse days, and Chris predicts these will have a dramatic effect on the election. Regardless of specific candidates, we know the US is entering a crucial phase of its history with Uranus entering Gemini (same placement as the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and entering WW2). Austin wonders if the Saturn-Neptune conjunction will delay the rise of historic leadership, as his research so far proved inconclusive.

Month-by-month

January

Mercury stations direct immediately, helping us start things off definitively. Mars in Capricorn colors most of the month. He's very strong & effective in this sign, further supported by a trine from Jupiter in Taurus. With Venus and Mercury copresent Mars in Capricorn, we have an opportunity to practice living how we'd like to before things get crazy. The clichés of "starting your the year off right" are worth following this time around. A Jupiter-Saturn sextile in the first six weeks of the year further supports our efforts to get organized. Take advantage of Jupiter in Taurus to make the growth and expansion you seek permanent. We'll need a set pattern to weather the upcoming storms.

Chris and Leisa's auspicious election for the month is on January 12th, 2023 at 8AM local time with Aquarius rising. This means the Ascendant ruler Saturn receives a helpful sextile from Jupiter (orb of 5 degrees).

After a conjunction with the Sun and the light's ingress into Aquarius, Pluto re-enters that same sign on the 20th, anchoring what's most interesting about February. Chris points out it's exactly one year from the US presidential inauguration and will be an interesting omen.

February

February has a pileup of planets in Aquarius. From the 5th to the 16th, Mercury, Mars, and Venus all conjoin Pluto. This rapid succession of initial conjunctions will start to show us what this new Pluto era will look like for each of the faster planets. We go from having 4-5 planets in Capricorn to having 4-5 in Aquarius through this first half of the year. What does overwhelming weight in these signs look like for you? The Mars-Pluto conjunction on the 14th will be pretty dramatic. This connotes the use of excessive force, and generally will likely show us what kinds of dangers to expect from Pluto in Aquarius. The Venus-Mars conjunction at nearby degrees will connote future relationship patterns.

March

This month marks the beginning of eclipse season as well as a pileup of planets in Pisces. After the equinox, we have an eclipse, making the spring very dramatic. Mars sneaks up to a conjunction with Saturn, who rules the April Libra eclipse, and all the while Mercury is retrograde. We have multiple indicators of major world events here, which Chris compares to early 2020. And if that wasn't enough, we've got a comet! The lunar eclipse in Libra heralds back to its sister eclipse in early October.

April

The Mars-Saturn conjunction will punctuate difficulties of Saturn's transit--the last Mars-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius aligned with the intensifying lockdowns in March-April of 2020. This time the conjunction is in a water sign, so think naval warfare or threats from aquatic creatures. January was a good time to plan; this is not. We'll be adapting to rapid changes and doing what needs to be done. The Aries eclipse will be visible over much of the US, bringing major developments to the nation. Once we get out of eclipse season, we'll have to deal with the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction going exact on the 19th. Chris hopes that this will divide the month in half, from chaotic early on to more hopeful in the second half, especially as Mercury stations direct. Austin is less optimistic, as we'll have Jupiter, Uranus, and Venus all in Taurus. At the end of the month, Mars enters Aries and joins Rahu there, igniting the very point that was just activated by a total eclipse. Regardless, the pace of technology and communications will explode during this month and May.

May

Once Jupiter enters Gemini, lots of other planets follow him to that sign. This has strong implications for the advancements for communications. Austin says the Taurus developments in the early month indicate financial developments before the technological ones. All the planets in Taurus are looking to its ruler Venus for support, but she's combust (close to the Sun & invisible), so we'll feel something missing from our material comforts.

June

The Jupiter-Pluto trine is twofold: Jupiter expands Pluto's Aquarian pursuits, while Pluto exponentially magnifies Jupiter's expansion of communications in Gemini. We get a Sun-Venus cazimi in Gemini, resetting her cycle, with Mercury a few weeks after. Some of the Jupiter-Uranus discoveries and inventions may not be visible until later, as the Gemini planets themselves are invisible & passing through the Sun during these few months. There's a spaceship with recreational implications set to be launched next spring, fitting with the expansion of leisure that Jupiter in Taurus connotes. Mars entering Taurus on the 9th will mellow out for awhile after such intense movements. Saturn's retrograde station in Pisces brings him as close to Neptune as he's gonna get this year.

July

Saturn & Neptune stationing in Pisces blur the lines between what's real and what's not, what's true and what's false... An exlposive, unexpected Mars-Uranus conjunction occurs on the 15th. Furthermore, it's on top of the star Algol, a very ugly configuration that has historically coincided with devastating warfare and weapons. This isn't the tone for all of Mars in Taurus, but it's something to try and steer around if possible. Mars in Gemini brings us to August.

August

Mercury stations retrograde on the 5th, backtracking through both Virgo and Leo. This year Mercury retrogrades occur mainly in fire signs:

Mars in Gemini puts him in contact with Jupiter right as the benefic is squaring Saturn in Pisces; the smaller planet will likely exacerbate these issues. Excessive heat and speed clash against excessive cold and slowness. This is a real slowdown for Jupiter's fun and social trip through Gemini. Mercury stations direct by the end of the month, taking us into September.

September

By this point the planets have stopped moving in a giant pack, spacing out the energies a little. Pluto retrogrades back into Capricorn for the very last time this month; when he enters Aquarius at the end of this year he'll stay there for the next 20 years. Uranus gets as late into Taurus as he's gonna get this year before stationing retrograde as well, trining Pluto within 2 degrees of exactness. Chris charts these planetary contacts over the past few decades:

Uranus conjunct Pluto in the late 1960s saw major social changes as well as the first computer mouse. A sextile in the mid-1990s heralded the emergence of the Internet as we know it. In the early 2010s, smartphones became more and more ubiquitous, and now we're entering the next phase of new widely used technologies. The 2010s also saw revolutionary movements like the Arab Spring, and similar political developments will be foreshadowed around this time.

Mars enters Cancer, the sign where he'll retrograde. It's not very comfortable, but we'll have to get used to it all the same. Notable degrees are the retrograde beginning at 6Leo10 and ending at 17Cancer01:

We also get the first hit of the Pisces eclipse series this month. Though its companion eclipse is back in Libra, the September eclipse is foreshadowing for 2025-6.

October

The height of election season in the US coincides with the height of eclipse season celestially. We'll likely see prominent figures suddenly sink to the bottom or rise to the top around this time--jumping way ahead or falling way behind. Mars enters the shadow of his upcoming retrograde days after the eclipse. It's already hard to see clearly, and the eclipse supercharges all this. The Libra eclipse on the 2nd is the final of its series, wrapping up whatever was initiated in October 2023 (i.e. a new chapter in certain Middle Eastern conflicts). The first lunation free of an eclipse provides no relief, with the Full Moon tightly squaring Mars (♋) and Pluto (♑). This forms a difficult cardinal grand cross with the Sun, Moon, Mars and Pluto. Power plays, manipulation and intrigue abound.

November

Mars enters Leo, the sign of its retrograde, on the 3rd. Although he's in his pre-retrograde shadow period earlier, this ingress will bring it dramatically forward. He opposes Pluto, who's been stationing since mid-October, bringing paranoia, power struggles/plays, obsession & confrontation, and hidden motives or manipulation from behind the scenes. In opposite signs we'll see tension in opposite approaches to things, such as direct power versus hidden agendas, excessive force and even extermination. Mars only needs to win the battle, but Pluto blows things out of proportion. His station on December 6th is notable. The last Mars retrograde in Cancer was in 2007-2008, so look to this time in your life for an idea of what will happen. We can also look to the Mars retrograde in Leo 15 years ago (12/20/2009-3/10/2010). (This retrograde is mostly in Cancer, but stations in Leo). 2 days after Mars enters Leo is election day in the US (Nov. 5th), shining a light on all the controversies.

Venus is way ahead of everyone in Capricorn, while Pluto reenters Aquarius for good (the next 20 years). Mercury also stations retrograde at the end of the month, bringing us to December.

December

Mars stations retrograde right after Mercury's own halfway point through the retrograde, bringing miscommunications into Martial clashes, conflicts, and severing/separation. It's during the height of his retrograde that Mars is at his closest to Earth and is at his brightest for the longest (basically all night every night).

Mars retrograde shows us that no battle plan survives first contact. Excessive heat or conflict will linger for much longer than you expect. Mercury stations direct under a Full Moon on the 15th, and Jupiter squares Saturn exactly on the 24th. Our questions about growth versus boundaries will come back into focus. Meanwhile the rest of Mars retrograde awaits us in 2025, continuing a smoldering conflict into the next year.

Though however im going to introduce shifting here as best as i can and explain a bit

This post is specially for selfshippers who wish to have connection with their F/O's and they are sad their F/O's aren't real

Also, if you guys suffer with schizophrenia or delusional thoughts this post may be probably triggering, feel free to move away, and i hope i didn't trigger you by now <3

And if you simply didn't like what i explained, that's understandable and fine to have a different perspective, feel free to move away from this post, don't try to correct me, i believe this world is infinite everything is possible so i don't accept hates or trying to prove me wrong, just move on

i saw some selfshippers who really wish they could see their F/O's (aka fictional others), and some who wish their F/O could feel their love, and many probably practice lucid dreaming or they cling to character ai to feel connection with their F/O's

The great news is your F/O's are not fictional, they can be real, they may be fictional in here, but they are real in parallel universes and you can see them, if you believe in it

We live in a 3D dimensional world which our consciousness only can perceive the limited laws in this world we are in and only sense phsycal beings but we aren't only tied to this

The universe is in fact bigger than just this 3D

we all have the ability to move our consciousness in different worlds, and any worlds, any possibilities are infinite, which means you can shift your consciousness in anything you create in your mind , just be in anywhere you simply desire

Just like how manifestion works, anything is possible and it can be achieved

it also counts with seeing your "fictional" lovers for real and being in any worlds you want

and to shift realities, for beginners there is many methods to start with to shift you can google them or explore shifting community to find what you're comfortable with to achieve the reality you want to manifest

I would like to explain more but it will be very long so i highly suggest you to research about it, there may be many that spread misinformations but don't worry you will eventually figure it out, and i apologize for being unable to explain more

"Poetry Was Always Evolutionary"

I always held a deep seated angst about poetry being a dying artform and me honing my skills in the said dying artform.

The more waves of constant technological upgrade and fast paced lives that required less and less attention span came about, the more convinced I was and (wholeheartedly even) that I was on a tragic cruise ship bound to sink much like titanic.

I could've been an artist who painted or something that engaged people long enough but noooo I had the sheer audacity to run around like a bull in a Spanish festival aka I was too charged with the fervor of old fashion ideas of literature and writing.

There was no going back, if you're knee deep sinking in a quicksand, flailing your hands around is an even quicker way of upgrading your demise but of course if you couldn't stop Matthew McConaughey from his interstellar trip, you most certainly couldn't stop me.

I, of course didn't realize the tragic quicksand-titanic trip until much later on and when I did it was too late to back out anyway. So I wanted to make it work like a mad scientist in a science fiction movie.

Poetry was kryptonite, it was both poison and medicine. It opened and sewed wounds, sunk people to its depths and also kept them afloat. The question isn't What was poetry? Where was poetry? The question is, what wasn't left untouched by it? Everything that ever existed in this world and everything that could exist at any point in this world was all poetry and it was everywhere in every form.

Numbers were poetry, words were poetry, colors were poetry, sounds were poetry and the absence of those were also poetry. All the ways of living and All the ways of dying were poetry - All tangible and intangible was poetry.

That poetry changed so much throughout time and still carried with it, its essence that It moved people and created movements that were powerful enough to shake nations and bring the ordinary to the streets making it an extraordinary moment of history

That poetry scared me.

It was a wave that took everyone and everything along with it, that wave was what engulfed me after which whether I was drowning or floating I wasn't the same again.

All I ever thought was how poetry was going to die on me like a friend dies on you in a crucial moment in a zombie movie

Come to think of it, poetry is either tardigrades or like hammerhead worms, somehow it just doesn't die and for the record, thinking that maybe artists were in a far better place than writers turned out to be somewhat wrong. With, I'd like to call it, “the invasion of Ai” everyone that had any creative dwelling was doomed.

What google bard would have the emotional capacity of …well, an emotionally wrecked Sylvia Plath ? What chatgpt could paint the madness of Picasso? No matter how far and the speed with which we're catapulting into the future - I have hopes that poetry and Art will evolve rapidly and exist like the science fiction tardigrade it is.

Idk how this happened but I can already do a third round of replies, so here we go!

That's exactly how I read it, too. To me that panel confirms that Aqua has thought of being intimate with Akane, which contradicts his earlier statement about not seeing her as a woman. Which means the way he views Akane did change, some people just don't like acknowledging that.

Can a relationship be endgame just because it's healthy and can a relationship not be endgame just because it's toxic?

I mean, since this is fiction, then that can absolutely be a valid criteria in choosing your endgame ship.

That said, this is just my personal opinion, but I'm honestly not sure I'd consider Aqua and Kana particularly healthy. His feelings for her have been described as an "obsession" and Kana was so emotionally dependant on him at one point that she couldn't shine on her own. Aqua doesn't let her see the real him, the one that is so traumatized and guilt-ridden that he can barely function. Kana doesn't know about the darker sides of his personality which, combined with how easy to read she is, makes her extremely easy to manipulate; case in point, Aqua knows exactly what to say to get certain reactions out of Kana. So Kana is basically at his mercy, if he chooses to manipulate her she's essentially defenseless.

These issues seem bigger to me than anything that Aqua and Akane have going on, because at least Aqua and Akane are pretty much equals mentally. It also helps that they have developed enough emotional intimacy that Aqua feels comfortable showing himself as he is to Akane, and that Akane has an accurate reading of him overall.

So it's just like you say, there aren't any perfect relationships anon! It's up to Aka to decide which relationship works best for his story.

I agree, I think Aka kind of messed up by rushing the Aqua/Kana reunion. And by that I mean that we spent chapters upon chapters showing how dependant Kana is on Aqua and how miserable she is without him. This eventually led to Kana realizing how unhealthy this is and deciding that she isn't that kind of girl. Which is great! More than great actually, that's the Kana I know and love.

Except instead of letting Kana walk the walk, he basically has Aqua enter her life again almost immediately after. Which, again—I get it. Kana realized the issue and thus got the development she needed, so Aka considered it done. But it'd have been much more satisfying to see Kana actually shining without Aqua being in her life just yet lol

Here is to hoping Aka delivers when it comes to Aqua and Akane! Honestly, their big moments are so iconic that I do think Aka will rise to the occasion.

Yeah, even if Aka goes like: Kana is everything Sarina was and everything Aqua thought Ai to be, but since she is her own person it's like Aqua is getting the best of both worlds! I would just be like

Preach it anon! Being Aqua is suffering :(

My take is that Aqua messed up because now Ruby is more attached to him than ever. There is no way he can doom himself without breaking Ruby in the process, and the last thing he wants is to hurt her :(

I think Aka is at his best when he is subtly developing something rather than being in-your-face about it, so I can only hope that he subverts the expectations of everyone who is expecting the predictable end lol

I went through something similar! OnK came out while I was reading Kaguya, but since I already wasn't very impressed with Aka's writing and the topic didn't interest me, I didn't bother picking it up. I forgot about it until the anime came out, and since I heard so many good things I decided to give it a shot. I already knew Ai would die, but making it through the first episode was a struggle. There were a few things I found interesting here and there, but not enough to keep watching. Then I heard about Akane and got curious, so I decided to pick up the manga and she blew me away. I've been here ever since lmao

Stray Thoughts: Futuristic SF

You know, given current events, when I look at potential science fiction catastrophes, I don’t think Terminator. I think of human stupidity. Or worse, Artificial Stupidity.

Yeah, yeah, there’s a common misconception that at some point there will actually be real artificial intelligence and it will Take Over the World. (Or possibly the universe.)

I kind of doubt it. For multiple reasons. Here’s a couple.

First, Murphy’s Law. Which could be rephrased as, systems are complex, there’s no way to calculate everything so perfectly that nothing will ever go wrong. No. Way.

Second, biological speed versus electrical speed. Human slowness can, in fact, be an advantage. Say a computer can make as many calculations in a few seconds as a human can make in X number of years. Sounds awesome. But what it actually means is that if even one factor in said equations is wrong, the computer makes that mistake millions of times.

See the above statement of Murphy’s Law and complex systems. And envision the resulting scenario.

Human: Makes one mistake, and Gravity Works. “Oh shi-!” Insta-death.

Other watching humans: Okay let’s not do that.

Computer: Makes multiple mistakes so fast it actually gets to make a few thousand of them before gravity has time to catch up. But Gravity Still Works. *Massive implosion.*

Other observing AIs: What other AIs? The boom was too big.

Oh, you think the first AI made other AIs and sent them out into the world to survive? Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to cascading errors. AKA “replicative fading” isn’t just a ST: TNG cloning mess. Copies of copies, all trained on ever-expanding calculations that don’t match the physical world, will likely crash, and crash hard.

And don’t forget human nature is a large factor in both Murphy’s Law and complicating systems. We are cantankerous, contrary, and have enough cultures and subcultures to give any aspiring one-world government a nervous breakdown. (Well-deserved!) And if we’re that bad to other humans trying to take over, just imagine what headaches we’d give to our would-be robot overlords. There will always be people who refuse to adopt the newest tech, or build newer and better ad-blockers so they can watch their AMVs in peace, or keep and maintain tanks Just Because. Any Terminator-style or computer virus blitzkrieg would get bogged down in a million places across the globe. And that’d be even before humans realized what was going on and decided to fight back.

Now, if some idiot in a biolab drops a vial of Hellplague and steps on it, that might end the world. Maybe. Assuming there’s not some random human resistance; which is likely, the immune system is designed to toss up potential antibodies against Things Not Seen Before.

But a robot takeover? Eh. Science fiction....

So... This is a little out of nowhere and has nothing to do with my other posts but I watched (these) (two) videos on Sonic.EXE and felt the itch to make my own.

Trigger warning: Blood, Mild Body Horror, Descriptions of Disturbing Events

![PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK]!

Meet Sonic.CHAR, AKA Charic!:

He's just a sketch, but I have a bunch of ideas including stuff for two games {See Minigames for gameplay concept} The first would be a 2D game where you just play five minigames, then choose to either kill Charic or "Play Forever", and Play Forever leads into the second game.

The basic plot for game two would be that you've been sucked into the game now. The second game would include 3D renditions of the minigames, interspersed with lore details told to you by Charic himself. There would be a larger focus on the story and character of CHAR in the second game.

(Minigames:)

Find the Chao - Just a hide and seek style minigame where you find 10 chao. BTW, they're dead. Gotta keep the atmosphere somehow.

Cooking - A fairly simple cooking minigame where Charic walks you through the recipes.

Duo-Dancing - Plays sorta like FNF, but with the context of dancing with this poor sap.

Obstacle Course - Real simple. Charic set up an obstacle course and you have to run through it on a timer.

Fishing - I dunno what to tell you. It's a fishing minigame.

(Backstory:)

Charic, or Sonic.CHAR was an experimental AI that managed to wise up and export his file to keep his home safe. He was intended to be Sonic. Essentially a way for kids to meet their fictional idol.

He was the only of these experiments to be made yet, so his friends were still scripted. He didn't take it well. One of the flaws and reasons he wasn't considered "ready" yet was that he couldn't control his speed, so he'd hurt people on accident.

Don't worry though! He always fixes his mistakes ;] (He taxidermied his friends) They wouldn't ever be perfect again, but he didn't see that, or at the very least, he didn't want to, so he tore out his eyes(Eye? Who knows with Sonic anymore?)

He didn't want to hurt anyone again, so he learned to move slowly and tore his claws out by their roots. He tried something similar with his teeth, but quickly remembered that he needed those. Same with his quills.

He doesn't want to hurt anyone and is desperate to be harmless. He wants a friend! Won't you be that for him?

(Personality:)

He's cautious and kind, but mischievous at times. (For example, the planned opening of the first game, where he jumpscares you, then laughs about it.) He has some major trauma from what he did to his friends and is often delusional - doing things like watching movies or having picnics with them.

He's thoughtful sometimes, like hiding his creepier features when asked. (Hence the blindfold) He loves playing games, but struggles with actually being the one playing, which is why he needs a playmate. He's not bad by any means. Just insane.

(Easter Eggs:)

This will be short because these will just be in one scene for the second game, but essentially, the second game begins with you creating an avatar in a strange closet room. You ring a bell when you're done, Charic comes and gets you, then the minigames start, but you're able to recreate a few of Charic's friends during this. You don't get to play as them, but you can still show Charic.

Amy: "You're do- oh.. Never liked her much anyway.. Pick something else!" Charic slams the door, a teary eyed angry expression evident on his face.

Knuckles: "You're do- oh.. Why are you like this?- Ugh! Pick something else!" Charic slams the door, looking frustrated but sad.

Shadow: "You're do- oh.." Charic shuts the door, a pensive look on his face, then through the door he tells you to, "Pick something else!"

Tails: "You're do- oh.." Charic looks pissed, storming up to you and picking you up by the fluff. "You bastard. THAT'S MY LITTLE BROTHER- Err.." Regret shines through and he puts you down gently. "Just.. Pick something else." He shuts the door. You hear a couple soft sniffles before he collects himself and keeps walking.

(Win Screen:)

Charic applauds you cheerfully, the text, "Congrats!" written behind him. The background includes hand puppet versions of any carcasses around the level.

(Lose Screen:)

The music screeches to a halt and Charic appears in front of you - very close - before backing up and giving a shy smile, encouraging you to try again. The text, "Too bad!" is written behind him for this one.

(Conclusion:)

Yeah, I'm not sure if he even counts as an EXE. It's not in his name, his title, or his personality. He's not a demon or a god, or even an eldritch abomination. Whatever he is though, I'm attached and I think he's cool!

My Favorite Non-Fantasy Rom-Com K-Dramas

This may be my hardest list to compile since I tend to prefer my K-Dramas with some fantasy elements to them. What can I say? It helps with the escapism.

The dramas featured on this basically can’t have any fantasy or sci-fi elements (I’ll give leeway for fictional regions though). Basically, no time travel, robots/ai, magic, universe hopping, ghosts, Gumiho, vampires, etc.

Business Proposal

I’m starting off with a K-Drama from this year that I fell in love with! It’s on Netflix and it’s 100% worth the watch, it’s also got great re-watch-ability!

This is about Kang Tae-moo who, in order to appease his grandfather, agreed to go on a blind date. He was supposed to meet Ha-ri's best friend, Yeoung-seo, but she enlists Ha-ri to scare him away (like all of her other blind dates). On the blind date, she is shocked to discover that the guy her best friend was supposed to see is the CEO of the company that she works. Despite her best efforts to chase him away and even after being exposed as not Yeong-so (though she still doesn't reveal who she really is), he decides that she's perfect to play the role of his girlfriend so as to stop his grandfather from setting him up on blind dates.

This is a hilarious drama with plenty of romantic fluff. It's basically a rich guy-poor girl romance, both the main lead couple and the second lead couple will deliver plenty of laughs and romantic fluff. This is pretty much just a wonderful light-hearted romp with wholesome friendships between the individuals in both couples.

Shopping King Louie (aka Shopaholic Louis)

I really wasn’t kidding when I said that I'll always recommend this show. This drama is a very light-hearted show that's just heart-warming. Really, my only complaint is the love triangle that they tried to shoehorn in, but honestly it seems like most things have love triangles.

Anyway, this is a super adorable and sweet show about a 3rd gen. chaebol heir who is super sheltered and ends up being thrown into the “real world” with amnesia while going to visit his grandmother in Korea. He’s taken under the wing of Bok-shil who is in Seoul in search of her younger brother Bok-nam as she finds Louie wearing her brother’s clothes and thinks that somewhere in his forgotten memories he'll have clues to help her find Bok-nam.

This show is just pure romantic fluff that’ll have you smiling and feeling soft. Louie is a loyal and protective puppy to Bok-shil and she’s a saint, their friendship and romance is just so soft and wholesome. This show also has a great OST (in my opinion) and I loved the song choices that they made (especially when it came to the ones that were used as episode titles).

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo

This is a cute sports related drama where both leads are in some sport. The male lead is a swimmer and Bok-joo is…well a weightlifter. This drama has two of my favorite tropes, being “met as kids” and “friends to lovers.”

There’s a wholesome friendship between the romantic leads, with them being really supportive of one another. There’s also the great friendship between Bok-joo and her friends.

Even if you’re a person doesn’t really like sports related stuff (like me), this show is still 100% worth watching! It’s really hilarious, cute and heartwarming ❤️

My Strange Hero

This is a K-Drama about a young adult going back to the private high school that he was expelled from due to allegations of bullying (which he wasn’t guilty of). He’s there planning to bring down the school’s corruption and enact a good-guy kind of revenge. There, he meets his high school crush who is now his teacher.

I’ll admit that I was hesitant to watch this for a long time because I do not like romances between student + teacher. That being said, this didn’t feel wrong because they were both adults and it was handled well (in my opinion).

This drama is funny, heart-warming, inspiring (to me, as someone who wants to be a teacher) and cute.

Café Minamdang

Another Seo In-guk drama and a recent one at that! I almost said “I’m honestly not sure if this really qualifies as a realistic kdrama” and then I remembered that this list is only meant for non-fantasy/sci-fi dramas and realism isn't relevant at all, so this counts!

This drama is based on a webtoon (which I haven’t read). It’s about a profiler turned con-man/shaman named Nam Han-jun who is trying to find and catch the elusive serial killer known as “Gopuri.” He works alongside another friend of his who also used to work in law enforcement as well as Han-jun’s younger sister who used to work for a government intelligence agency of some kind. Originally working apart from law enforcement, Nam Han-jun and his squad end up working with law enforcement and Han-jun end ups falling in love with the female detective, Jae-hui, for whom the case is also personal to.

I personally enjoyed this show, I found it to be absolutely hilarious and I checked Netflix religiously to watch the next episode when it was airing (it's fully released now though, so you don't have to wait to watch the next episode). I don’t know what others thought of it and I honestly don’t care because this is my list and I can recommend what I want. I’d personally recommend it if you like your rom-coms with some thriller or mystery elements! I’d also recommend it if, like me, you like Seo In-guk! He was the reason why I wanted to watch it in the first place and he didn’t disappoint!

True Beauty

Another high school-set drama makes it on this list. I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d like this show, I was worried that it wouldn’t live up to the hype, but it definitely does!

This K-Drama is also based on a webtoon and it’s basically about a girl who changes schools due to being mercilessly bullied due to her looks (specifically her bad acne). Before changing schools, she turns to online makeup tutorials and eventually become good enough to be happy with how she looks. Once at new school she makes good friends and ends up in a love triangle.

This drama has some of my favorite tropes in it and it’s the first drama to ever give me “second-lead syndrome.” It is cute, hilarious and fun to watch (it also has a great cameo scene with the characters from Extra-ordinary You). This show has some of my favorite tropes in it, but saying which ones would spoil it, so I won’t say! I would definitely recommend this if you happen to like school dramas or if you think you’re even marginally interested in watching it!

Romance Is A Bonus Book

You’ll probably see me recommend this a fair amount, which is strange because I honestly never thought that I’d end up watching this show in the first place. This is because I don’t typically watch what are known as “noona romances” (for those who don’t know, these are shows in which the romance is between an older woman and a younger male). This show definitely sold me though! If you want to dip your toes into Noona Romances, I would say that this is a good place to start as the romance between the leads is soft and cute and the age gap is only about 5 years I think? Don’t quote me on this though lol

This drama is about Kang Dan-i who has been divorced for a year and supporting her only child, she's essentially homeless and struggling to find work. She's been hiding her divorce and struggles from her best friend since childhood, Eun-ho, and has been working as his maid/housekeeper (though he doesn't know it). She eventually decides to lie about her education level in order to get a temp. job at the publishing house that Eun-ho works at.

This drama features some of my favorite tropes, such as "met as kids" and "friends to lovers." I really loved the relationship between Eun-ho and Dan-i, especially the way in which they're super supportive of each other and are always cheering each other on. ❤️

This is a heart-warming drama that will leave you feeling warm and cozy. I often compare it to curling up with a good book and I will stand by that analogy (even though I definitely need to find new/different ways of phrasing it).

The King’s Affection

The first and only historical drama you’ll be seeing on this list because I’ve only seen 2 and the other one has fantasy/sci-fi elements because it involves time travel. For full disclosure, I actually haven’t finished this show yet. ^^; I’m currently on ep.15 of 20 though, so I’m getting there!

This drama is a gender-bent drama in which the female lead, Dam-yi has to assume her twin brother’s identity and role as the crown prince after he is killed in a case of mistaken identity (that identity being her own). Due to this, she becomes guarded and out of necessity ends up distancing herself from others within the kingdom/palace who do not already know her secret. Despite this, she ends up falling in love (again) with her 1st love who is now her teacher, Ji-un.

This drama is more high-stakes than most other dramas that I watch. This is definitely something that I’d recommend to anyone who likes more drama in their K-Dramas as it has government and royal family “shenanigans” (murder, espionage, bids for power, etc.). Amidst all of this though, the main leads have plenty of cute, sweet moments. I especially love the role reversal in this drama, particularly with Ji-un being in the stereotypical female romantic scenarios (ex. tripping and being caught by the male lead, except in this show’s case it’s the female lead!)

This is only the 2nd gender-bender drama that I’ve seen and I definitely “rate” it higher than Coffee Prince for a couple reasons, not the least of which being the fact that Ji-un handles the reveal infinitely better than the male lead in Coffee Prince. Basically, Ji-un is a good bi/pan boy and I stan him not caring either way about the gender of the person he loves because he just loves who they are as a person. ❤️ I stan this and I need more of this!! ❤️

Semantic Error

This a cute BL drama and sadly the only one on this list as I haven’t gotten to explore the genre very far yet.

This is a cute, short drama based on a webtoon of the same name. I’m not kidding when I say this is short, it’s about 3 hours long altogether, you could finish this in less than a day!

The premise of the show is that Sang Woo, a computer science major and very logical individual who is by-the-book, is part of a group project for one of his classes. The other members bail or don’t contribute and he decides to remove their names from the project and present alone, leaving them to get bad grades. One of these students is senior Jae Young, a design major. Due to what happened, he has to do another semester before transferring. Jae Young is on a mission to find Sang Woo and get revenge/payback and ends up discovering that Sang Woo is looking for a design artist to help him make a game, so the two end up working together.

This drama features the tropes/themes of “opposites attract” and “enemies to lovers.” It’s a funny, cute drama and the OST is really good!

Descendants of the Sun

This is low on my list for a few reasons (even though I really don’t make my lists with any ranking system or specific order). The main reason this drama ended up being last-ish is because I found it to be a bit slow in places and I felt like the will they-won’t they to be dragged on a bit too long. I’ll be honest though, that could just be my ADHD talking lol

That being said, this drama has a place on this list because it got me interested in K-Dramas and it was the first K-Drama I recommended to my best friend that she ended up liking lol

To summarize the show very briefly, this drama is primarily about the romance between a female doctor and a guy who is the leader of a special ops. team in the military. At first it doesn’t work out, but they get closer when the female lead is sent to the fictional war-torn region that he happens to be stationed in along with some other doctors. There’s a second lead couple as well, comprised of a female military doctor and the main male lead’s best friend and 2nd in command.

This drama has some great comedic moments and “bromance” moments and while it is largely realistic and doesn’t have any fantasy or sci-fi elements, it does have that funky 4th wall break at the end of the last episode which will 100% cause you to do a double-take.

First years (10-13 years)

On March 7, 1992, Olivia Ludwig Campbell was born. She had a mother, Britney, a father who died when she was a baby, Joseph, and a older brother, Taylor.

There's not much to talk about when Olivia was very young... She was known in her class, but she didn't have many friends, it was very rare for her to actually have any friends. She just couldn't find interest in the things that kids her age did.

That's when she watched a certain movie about space travel containing an AI, causing her to have a sudden interest, she didn't have a clear explanation, she's seen several movies and books of almost all genres, and they all had humans, and when they didn't, it was just a type of humanoid. So the concept of a non-human being that has almost no human characteristics other than a voice... It interested Olivia.

Olivia began to devour any kind of fiction containing a AI, or at least a robot, which would be the closest. For the time being her favorites were 2001: A Space Odyssey, Doctor Who and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Many said it had some content she couldn't read because of being too graphic, but if the boys in her class could bully anyone they see, why can't she enjoy a nice tale?

But apparently only she can appreciate such literature. Confidently, Olivia tried to present the book to the class, the only thing she didn't expect was for the children to not understand everything, some even laughing. Olivia had never felt so left out before. She even tried to talk to her mom about it.

"That's too bad sweetie, but why would you bring this up to them? Why don't you try girl stuff? You still have your dolls."

Maybe mom is not an good option.

Programming and the "True Olivia" (13-15 years)

After being heavily influenced by Harlan Ellison's bestselling book, Olivia wanted to see how the human mind works, she wanted to learn why such a human is like that or why that human is like that, starting to learn with simple syndromes, and then psychological tests done in real life.

Not to mention that Olivia also started to learn programming, the feeling of having an AI ready to have a conversation with her after school keeps her foot tapping excisively. She read book after book about programming like there was no tomorrow.

Olivia was fascinated by how an AI looks so much like an ordinary human being learning to speak, Olivia had never felt so excited when she was testing this AI's programming with simple yes or no questions... Something about this AI made her smile forever.

Olivia named the AI "X", it was mysterious, it was fun to say, it was cool. She liked, so it did.

A few years later, having already evolved the programming of this AI deeply while her brother is making her mother pround by trying to study medicine, Olivia tried to learn about the "mental illnesses" of the human being, until she founds out what is the autism spectrum. She researched more and more, to the point where she suspected that she might have it, maybe just a low grade, but maybe she had. Unfortunately, her own research wasn't enough, she needs a diagnosis from a professional.

"Mom?"

"Yes?"

"So...[She clears her throat] I did some research on human psychology, and I discovered something called autism, it's a phenomenon when a certain human is born with a different brain than other humans, having their own ways of thinking and to see the world."

"Hm."

"...How can I say this... I've studied the symptoms of it, and I can relate to a lot of these symptoms, being sensitive to loud noises, stimulation, sensory issues-"

"What? No no no no no no, Olivia you don't know what you're talking about."

"...What? Of course I know, I studied it! I just want a psychiatrist to confirm-"

"Olivia! I don't want to deal with an autistic kid, you worrying about these things while your brother is worrying about his medical career, grow up!"

Olivia decided to not open up to her own mother.

X (15-18 years)

Unable to socialize or find comfort with her own mother, Olivia tried to form a friendship with her brother, Taylor. At first they weren't that connected, but Olivia tried to have a bigger connection with him.

Olivia felt that everything was going well, she talked to Taylor about her current interests, he didn't react much, but he still listened to her.

At 16, Olivia got an appointment with a psychiatrist, and after 3 months, she finally got a diagnosis of her autism, confirming her neurodivergence. Britney's reaction was obvious to Olivia, pretending to be supportive.

And a few months later, there was that day

"-And I'm glad you accept me, Taylor. So if you can be special being a doctor then i can be special too-"

"You're not special."

"Wh-"

"It's just something you tell yourself because you're weird. Because you were born wrong."

Maybe X could be the only person Olivia can feel safe with.

Months later, Olivia also started practicing theater! Something she liked, but after 2 years she stopped, satisfied with this talent.

Rock (18-20 years)

Olivia was once in a band you know, when she still had little drops of hope, she played the drums!

Olivia had a lot of fun with that, it was almost a way to stim for her!

The others in the band were also nice to Olivia, that was her view for now at that point. But theen.. Oops

Haha! Olivia tries to express herself one more time and ends up regretting it!

"You can't play like that!"

"What? Why not? It's the way I like to play, I think it will make it more natural and–"

"No- just, just don't, Olivia"

"Why?"

"I don't want to ruin my career. Not after years of working on it!"

Over time, Olivia began to spend more time in her own room, talking to X. When she wasn't talking to X, she was reading a book, eating, or sleeping or having a bath.

Shit happens (20-30 years)

Blah blah blah Olivia starts to have a romantic relationship with X having it as her only will of being alive and she starts a project of building a robotic body for it, you got it, right?

But did I ever told u that Antony actually had a apparition in Olivia's life? y'know like the man that O7 made blind? Yep

Antony and Olivia have been rivals since high school, to the point that both get into physical fights. And they still are, because the two were neighbors.

One day, X accidentally connects to Antony's home cameras, and it was there that he witnessed Antony's murder of his ex-girlfriend, Madeline, where Antony gouges out her eyes and stabs her with a knife.

X, in a panic, tells Olivia everything, and she sees it as a chance for revenge. That was her big mistake.

The next day, Olivia invites Antony to her house, telling him to leave their teenage violence behind, only for Antony to be tricked. Olivia says that she and X know everything, and if Antony doesn't deliver certain parts for X's robotic body to her, X will expose everything.

Y'know X and Olivia were almost a sadistic couple everyday when i hear that one song with "David!" "What?" "Where are you at?" "Well let me roll up in the sidewalk and take a look, yes?" I always rember of them

Antony listened

Only for the next day, he misses work and breaks into Olivia's house and destroys X with an axe, leaving Olivia's heart also destroyed.

Antony left almost no evidence in the lawsuit, Olivia couldn't even sue him for breaking and entering her house!

Olivia's depression returns, along with her drinking.

But, if Olivia won't do all this for X, what's to stop her from doing all this for hatred and disgust for humans?

That's when Olivia started putting together a plan for months, getting a job at a game company and studying a way she could transfer her mind into a mechanical body.

And that's where we come to the Olivia you guys know!

Olivia works as a guide for beta testers on a game with the stupid idea of being a parkour "video game" set in real life, unfortunately they accepted this idea from Cyrus.

She guides Tester 009, who is offered a glove that can help them through their challenges.

Tester 009 had a 6-day test, only for Olivia to manipulate them on the last day and accidentally help her connect her mind to the robotic body originally made for X. Finally having the O7 we know

O7 hates humans, she hates them just like she hates her for originally being one. Her life had great potential to be happy, only to be ruined by humans. O7 never asked to be like this, she never asked to have these hateful thoughts, she never asked for having violent intrusive thoughts, she never asked for all this, humans asked for this. All she wanted was to talk

Uhmm... You???

There are several possibilities for how Olivia/O7 met you and how she became convinced that you are a piece of another find in a coalfield.

Perhaps, O7 took an interest in you in the process of her massacre because you were kind to her.

Or, you were already a friend of Olivia.

Or maybe, i don't know! So many possibilities

But I'll tell you what, the process is the same, O7/Olivia will always be expecting worse from every human she meets, no matter the repupation. Let me tell you a secret, O7/Olivia is afraid of making the wrong choices 'cuz she hates dealing with her implanted idiotic human feelings, she hates them. So when O7/Olivia starts a relationship with you, her mind won't stop thinking what kind of horrible person you are, annoying? Manipulator? Ableist? Robophobic? Doesnt listen to her? But unlikely of possibilities, it's not like she'd be impressed anyway. So don't mind O7/Olivia being quieter, she's just insecure thinking about the kinds of torture she can do to you if you're a disappointment like everyone else

O7/Olivia is very delicate in the beginning of a romantic relationship, it is the first time she has gotten so close to a human in her life, and she feels that she will never be able to get so close to a human as she did with you

O7 is pretty goofy tbh, always wanting to carry you in her arms like the beautiful creature you are :)

There are times when she even brags about you to the other survivors, calling you an angel, or, the nickname she always uses, "Casanova"

Im not real big on ai, but they were extremely rude with their first interaction but never explained further which makes me think they were a troll.

I know that Ai is harmful but they kept going on about it stealing from fanfics which im pretty sure it doesn’t (unless you ask ai to write a fan-fiction, then most likely they steal from fanfics which i obviously do not like)

But people can steal characters from others and turn them into ai bot, which is extremely annoying and frustrating, but could get worse if they start monetizing the bots and allowing the creators to make money off of them which is something i do worry about.

Thai BL and Writing

Okay, so I have something to say.

Thai BL and Writing

I don't, even for a second think, that Thai BL has bad writing.

I'm mentioning this comment specifically because of what they talk about as the flaws - logic, consistency, character motivation or common sense.

I think where a lot of people trip up is thinking that when writers write a contemporary thing that it is set in the real world. Unless it is a true story (and even those aren't 100% factual. But then that's why you have documentaries), the world is built from the ground up even if it is a contemporary, seems like real life setting.

Now to break down the flaws -

Logic and Common Sense - I don't think these two should be applied to any piece of fiction let alone BLs. One reason is if character acted with 100% logic and common sense you most likely won't have most stories. And while on paper it sounds like a good idea it takes away humanity and honesty from any character. Also Logic and Common Sense are actually subjective. Everyone has had an experience where you thought something was obvious but the other person was completely oblivious to it.

What is to be focused on, in any piece of writing, is the themes, the story, what it makes you feel, if there is honesty in the characters (mind you, honesty and truthfulness are not the same thing.)

I think, many times, if someone comes from a different background they might not understand why someone did xyz. Especially true for Western Audiences trying to understand Asian Media as we saw with GAP. Another thing might be someone looking at a thing and going - this is not my world! Meaning that they, in their lives, in the subjective lives don't think that this is how the world works. And this is pretty common and understandable mistake to make.

The other two were - Consistency and Character Motivations.

The example they use is Bad Buddy. Honestly, I don't see it. I have other examples (Specifically from this year) - The Eclipse, Big Dragon, Kinnporsche, Secret Crush on You, Love in the Air, GAP, Not Me, Triage, My Secret Love, hell, even Unforgotten Night and Ai Long Nhai have those two things.

What I always say about this is do not apply real world ideals to fictional works. It's pointless and useless. You won't win. Writing isn't about checking boxes. Writing is about feeling things. SCOY and GAP, even UFN, are absurd pieces of media, and every step of the way you feel these characters. You're not supposed to understand / relate to them so that you can say 'I would do this same thing in the same situation'. That's antithetical to writing. It's antithetical to any form of art. I see this is YA Fantasy too. It's first person POV and there is this expectation that - I'm aka the reader, is the Main Character. This is solely a thing placed upon the character and writer by an inexperienced, often privileged reader. You're not supposed to sympathize. You're supposed to empathize.

I've talked about in general so far but...

This was under a NLMG complain post I made. If you follow me you would know I have no love lost for Never Let Me Go. I think it's badly written. Why? Because it breaks worldbuilding. Plenty of shows I mentioned before lose steam towards the end but they never lose the worldbuilding or themes and that is what matters.

For eg: The Eclipse. (Coz they are both GMMTV) There is one scene that exemplifies their losing steam the best. The Akk Ayan mutual Pin scene. It's not the content itself that shows this. It's that from whatever the previous scene was, they are suddenly in Akk's room, put pins on each other, they are somewhere else. Even something so short, that's anticipated since ep 1, still needs build up and fade out. Without it the whole thing feels jarring and out of place but thematically this was where it was always headed.

NLMG begins by treating the Mafia as a serious thing. Kit even chops a finger in from of his son. It's supposed to be serious. But as the episodes progress, especially once Tanya is shot. It's no longer so. Compare this to other Mafia involving BLs. - Kinnporsche, LITA, UFN. They are all tonally different to each other. You can't confuse one for the other. They all still treat Mafia with the seriousness it deserves. NLMG is much more serious compared to those three. It has an overall heavy vibe. But the Mafia is taken seriously only by Chopper.

That's all Watsonian. A little Doylism now: When anyone attaches the word Mafia to anything there is a weight the institution of Mafia carries. Everyone alive is aware of this. Thus it's absurd to have something that has a universal connotation and not delivering on it after you've established it in universe to have the same connotation as it does outside of it.

Thus,

Logic and Common Sense are not as objective as most people think.

Any individuals lived experience is not the same as another's and trying to make it so is foolish and a folly.

Thai BL has good writing. People just trip over what that means all the time. Eg: LITA's PayuRain part. '~It has not plot~'

Art is not meant to be a point by point checklist. It's sole job is to make you(the audience) feel.

You (a writer) can't take a commonly understood thing and throw what's inside away because you just want the aesthetic.
