How I Define Shipping

Personally. The way that I tend to define ships is, "this relationship (regardless of platonic, familial, or romantic) makes sense to my logic brain, I like their chemisty/dynamic (again, regardless of the nature of the chemistry/dynamic), doesn't conflict with my morals, & makes me happy."

So, whenever I say that I ship something, this is what I mean.

Part of the reason being due to my interest in different kinds of love. No, not straight, gay, bi. I mean the Greco-Roman loves. There's the obvious Romas (Romantic Love) & Eros (Sexual Infatuation) which are often paired together & tend to go hand-in-hand, but because of this, they are often conflated. However, there's also Philia (Affectionate or Friendly Love; though it can also develop between brothers-in-arms), Storge (Familial Love, whether parental or sibling), Pragma (Enduring or Long-Lasting Love; ex. the quiet & comfortable love between an old married couple), Ludus (Playful Love; which you can fulfil by simply going out & dancing with your buddies), Mania (Unhealthy Obsessive Love; a.k.a. European-Style Yandere), Philautia (Healthy Self-Love or Self-Compassion) & Narcissus (Unhealthy Self-Love or Narcissism), Himeras (Unrequited Love), Caritas (Selfless, Compassionate, or Generous Love), Agape (Selfless Love That God Has For Man), Xenia (The Guiding (Non-Romantic/Non-Sexual) Love Between a Mentor & Mentee), & Meraki (Love for What You Do or Passion for Work). As well as the French concept of Joie de Vivre (Love of Life/Living).

There's more to ships than Romas & Eros, but that doesn't mean that Romas & Eros are bad.
