It was a stupid tattoo he got when he was younger.

When he fucked people and they asked what it was he came up with something it read as. “Be the change.” “Because I can.” “Soul of lion.” Anything that the person he brought to bed would seemingly like.

His personal worst? “Don’t fret. Live and let live.” Seriously how the fuck would that have fit? It doesn’t even have punctuation!

It didn’t matter though if someone looked it up later. He probably wouldn’t see then again. Most people didn’t bother.

When he sleeps with Ghost for the first time he bends over to mess with his pillow. Soap totally forgot about the tattoo until a scarred knuckle traces over the words. “Scotland forever.” Ghost mutters the words as he translates them.

Soap swore he knew he loved him then.

Ghost knew the translation because Soap had screamed it once before following it up with a sharp “SCOTLAND FOREVER,” when he was drunk.

But after hearing his Johnny rave about his side of the story? He wouldn’t dare tell him that.
