it’s 7 o’clock pm. you’re sitting in an ‘employees only’ parking spot waiting for your girlfriend’s shift to end. the reservation you ordered for the surprise date was for 7:30. you anxiously tap the steering wheel, praying your dear, overworked girlfriend, isn’t too late. you grin as the doors open to the hospital and allison greets you with a warm smile. she makes her way to the passenger door and gets in the car, happy to be done with her shift. you sit and chat about her day, completely oblivious to the fact her slightly deranged coworker has gotten into his car as well. on a few occasions you’ve met dr. gregory house, he’s a funny guy to be around. a little weird; although, very intelligent. you two pulled out of the parking lot and began your trip to the restaurant. allison had been able to change out of her scrubs before she left, however you wouldn’t mind if she showed up in the most ridiculous thing ever. she was gorgeous.

absentmindedly listening to the sound of allison rant about the ups and downs of her day, you didn’t notice how the same black car follows you to your destination. however there are a lot of black car and you have bigger things to worry about. you pull into the restaurant and find a parking spot close to the entrance. allison has already walked far more than needed today. you hold her hand delicately as you enter the restaurant and are guided to your seats.

“i really do appreciate you”. she stares at you from across the table. she still makes your heart race like the first day you met.

“you know i’ll do anything for you, allison.” she smiles at the affection and looks down to see what she’ll want for dinner tonight.

the two of you scan the menu, unaware of the eyes burning holes into your heads. house knew something was up when dr. cameron was overly happy almost all day. nobody could be so excited at 8 am. so naturally, he had to investigate. now he’s here. at a nice restaurant, sitting in a booth alone ominously sipping on an extra dry martini. each time the waiter asks if he’s ready to start on anything he shoos him away, intently watching the situation.

before asking if your ready, your waiter approaches your table. he looks a little nervous.

“i’m so sorry for interrupting, but the man sitting in that booth over there had been watching the two of you all night.” he motions his head to house’s secluded booth.

allison scoffs and puts her hand up, “we’re fine, thank you.”. she gets up and you quickly follow, making your way to the booth. she slaps her hands down on his table.

“what the hell are you doing here.”

house looks around sheepishly, “eating? what else would i do at a restaurant?”.

“oh i don’t know, maybe stalking me?” she sighs in disbelief. house looks just as shocked, staring at her, wide mouthed. he throws his hands up in defeat. “maybe i was following you guys. BUT, only because you were way too happy to be at your job. i knew something was wrong.”.

“oh my god! nothing is wrong, no wonder you get a bad rep. you follow your colleagues.”. house rolls his eyes at her statement, looking you up and down. the three of you wait in silence until house breaks the ice.

“if i pay for your dinner will you leave me alone?”. the two of you look at each other and somehow telepathically agree on the offer. allison nods, and slowly backs away with you right behind her. you two sit back down at your original table and finally relax for a moment.

a/n: oh god. my second house fic. Another mid classic from Amy less go, as always, feedback is always appreciated!!! I am also very gay for Jennifer Morrison!!!

At this point in your and Allison’s relationship, you were regretting having such great taste in women - Your girlfriend was easily one of the most beautiful women you had ever seen in your life, and it was blatantly clear that you were not the only person who thought so. In the 6 months you had been seeing Allison, it had taken 3 of the 6 months for you to notice the way that Chase looked at her - He looked at her like he loved her. At first, you had brushed it off - you knew that she wasn’t interested in any man, never mind her co-worker. But then she started flirting back at him.

You watched the two of them discuss their case from across the room, you sat alone, deciding that you didn’t want to make yourself involved in something that didn’t concern you, even if it meant watching your girlfriend talk and almost flirt with the man who was deeply in love with her - It would have shocked you to see if it were not the first time you had noticed what was going on between the two. It hurt, but who were you to stick your nose where you weren’t wanted; You were just a paediatrician, nowhere near a diagnostician, even though House, on a few occasions had sought after your opinion - which he proceeded to insult but only after you were proved right. But you had grown to expect that from house - you had known him for most of your life since you were born from the first of your dads car crash marriage, House had been a part of your life since your parents divorce when you were 3 years old. Now, it felt like House was trying to piss you off for some reason - that he wanted Chase and Cameron to be together instead of you and her.

The third time you noticed them flirting was during a charity event that the hospital was hosting. Chase and Camerons ‘friendship’ had driven a wedge between you and your girlfriend, so much that you had been staying over at your dad’s for the past week - Not like Cameron noticed, she was too busy out late with Chase. You were so unsure of what to do. Did you risk losing the woman you loved over something so silly like her having a close male friend? No, you were just being paranoid, right? Right.

Wilson sighed as he watched you down another glass of champagne, looking at your girlfriend from across the room, nothing but admiration for her in your eyes.

“I can feel you watching me, dad,” You alerted your dad that you were aware of his presence behind you. “Don’t you have to following House around like a lost puppy?” Wilson knew that you were verging on drunk, so opted to take the empty champagne flute out of your hand, despite your protesting and furious pout.

“Why don’t you, I don’t know, talk to her?” You rolled your eyes at your dad’s suggestion - as if you hadn’t tried that already. “I’m just trying to help you, honey. I know that you love her,” Wilson had already had this talk with you - however, after considering your dad’s track record of marriages and failed relationships, you didn’t listen the first time when you were sober, so there was minimal chance of you listening when you were drunk. Wilson also knew that you weren't going to listen to him - but he thought it was better to try, he knew that you loved Cameron with everything in you, but it was hard to love her when all she did was spend time with Chase, a man so obviously in love with her.

"I do love her," You trailed off, looking over at her and Chase, watching as he leaned in to kiss her - but you looked away, you couldn't watch that. Your heart stopped as you turned your back on the two; You did, however, miss that Cameron smacked him for trying to make an advance on her. "I'm going home."

You were gone before your dad could try and convince you to stay, and before Cameron could find you.

She had grown tired of him now - of how he would always bring up old memories of their times out together; conveniently leaving all mentions of you out. She was tired of him flirting with her, despite her shutting him down every time, she didn't care if it was harmless flirting - it was harming her relationship with you. You had stopped taking your lunch break at the same time, you were always home late or working a nightshift. Cameron knew now that she had perhaps taken this thing with Chase too far - she knew that you were sometimes too shy or reserved to speak about how you were actually feeling, you were a people pleaser, even if it meant you would lose your girlfriend. She watched as you sat by yourself in the cafeteria, you looked exhausted, your concealer barely minimising the bags under your eyes - Cameron's heart broke at the very sight of you. Ignoring whatever Chase was talking about, she made her way over to you, sitting down on the chair in front of you.

"Y/N?" You looked up at the familiar mention of your name, giving your girlfriend a weak smile as you looked up at her. 

"Hey," You greeted her quietly, a dam of tears building behind your eyes, frightened if you spoke any louder than you did, that the dam would break. "Is Chase not here today?" You questioned her in the same quiet voice as before, you weren't in any way being snarky; as of late, it just felt like you were an afterthought to your girlfriend. Letting out a defeated sigh, she frowned and reached out to hold your hands.

"I know I've been a terrible, terrible, girlfriend recently," She started, looking you in the eyes, trying to be as sincere as possible - she needed you to know how much she loves you, to know how much she admires you for every single thing you do, for how much you love her from the deepest corners of her heart despite everything. "And I know that you'll tell me that it's okay but it's not. I never meant to make you feel this way and I feel terrible for doing this to you, but I need you to know that I love you, Y/N." You looked at her blankly as she spoke. "Your dad told me that you left after the charity event after you saw Chase try to kiss me, but I need you to know that I didn't let him. I turned away from him and then I smacked him, I came to find you but you were gone by the time that I found your dad." She explained.

"And what about the flirting? Did you mean any of that?" You asked, a little louder than the last time you had spoke, your voice breaking. Cameron shook her head fervently, still holding your hands in hers.

"No. Not at all. I love you, and I know it doesn't feel that way but I love you so much Y/N, and I want you to come home, to our home," You knew she was being sincere, but how could you guarantee that she wouldn't immediately go back to being inseparable best friends with Chase. Sighing, you nodded. You accepted that you would just have to trust her word and that she loved you - You knew that trust was just as important as love was in any relationship, and you suspected that this was why your relationship had survived this hardship, because a part of you trusted Cameron to not get involved with Chase. "Please, come home."

"Okay, I'll come home."

Going home that night, you felt some sort of relief knowing that you'd be going home and that Cameron was definitely going to be there, waiting for you since she got off work before you did. As you opened the door to your shared apartment, you kicked your shoes off and hung up your jacket, making your way into the living room, where Cameron had fallen asleep on the couch, wrapped in your throw blanket. You smiled to yourself before kneeling down in front of Cameron, gently nudging her shoulder, laughing softly as she groaned.

"Hey sleepy," You greeted her jokingly, smiling as she gave a sleepy pout. "Come on, let's go to bed." You said quietly, taking your throw off of Cameron and folding it up, then placing it behind the couch on top of her own. You followed her to your bedroom, watching her get comfortable in bed as you stripped down and into your pyjamas then get into bed beside her.

"I love you...so so so so much," Cameron assured you, despite how obviously sleepy she was. You smiled and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips, smiling against hers as you finally felt settled once more in bed with the love of your life.

"I love you more."

Author's note: I've been rewatching House since it came on Netflix and I am flooded with nostalgia and feelings. I've been dying to write something for House and Chase but my brain is till focus on getting Chase off Cameron and then this happened.

"You and I are not the same, Cameron." Chase exhales in fear. He is willing to tell the truth. 

This tiny thought and wonder around reasons why House hires them in the first place —the sweet and evenly hurtful murmur of him and her being there only for House's sore eyes, it's all time consuming. House openly admits admiring them both, no discrimination whatsoever. And that pleases him and her. 

Now, hiding in her flat, sharing her bed, he can show her the truth. The thing House has known all along but took him time to discover. They seem similar and equally different: tomato, tomato. 

"You had a date," Chase gives her an easy image. "You were with him. Did you see him?" Cameron is intelligent enough to realize there's a hidden meaning, but even in all her innocence, she is still confused. 

"Of course I saw him. He was with me." She frowns in thought and it's clear to Chase she is trying to think back. 

"When you see him..." He is now holding her face with both hands, obligating her to find him, to learn and see. "You expect him to change." The reality is solemn and her face crumbles.

"I'm not—" I'm not trying to change him, goes unsaid. 

"But you are." A lock of his hair falls in. "When you see him... You expect him to notice." He offers in kind. "You expect him to notice you. You expect him to care. You expect him to care for you. You expect him to love. You expect him to love you." Not that Cameron doesn't have redeemable qualities. She is young, smart, caring and emphatic; she is lovely. She can be loveable. And so, she awaits, she knows she has value and eagerly awaits for House to accept that value. "House won't do that." The spark of pain hurts them in symmetry and Chase feels guilty for causing it. 

Chase is so close that she can feel him, his warm breath, the soft fading scent of mint, brushing lips bring memories of passion, only that would get them distracted, however. 

"When I see him..." and there it is, the constriction of his whole being and the new born sensation of life. Chase seems to lose himself and Cameron brings him back with a hand around his wrist. 

She looks invested. "When you see him..." And he pushes them foward. "You feel the soft tingling in your hands and the nervous sweat behind your neck. Your tummy forms a knot which only seems to increase size when he comes close. You smile and your eyes light up." Cameron is up fronted by such clear definition of her feelings when all this time she has been thinking only House could read her in. Chase offers a meek apology. 

"When I see him," there's a shift in the air. The bed becomes heavier, he probes and her eyes zoom-in. His alluring voice traps her, giving her a overpowering sense of connection. He encompasses her as a whole. Her skin becomes heated, her heartbeat rises up. "When I know he is near... I can sense him." He stares down, locking her in place. "Even floors apart, I know he is in there." Chase rests her forehead against hers. "When I stand next to him... I can taste him." Her mouth feels dry and the light brush of his tongue on her cheek feels electrifying." Even far away, I can smell him." He takes her breath away, her senses fill in with a new undertone, an unrecognizable shade of known. His kisses are deep and long as they are delicious, they hold no weight, no rush but they melt away everything she knows until the only thought available is him.

House is everything she sees, everything she hears, all she can taste, all she can feel and it overwhelms her to the point of tears. As if she has been drowning all along and she is able to reach the surface for the first time. 

He steals her voice, though she doesn't need it. 

"When I see him... I can breathe."

Gasping for air, heart drumming in her ears; the world appears to spin round and round, Cameron thinks she still hears the whispers behind her neck. 

Chase is not forceful. He may not look into her eyes anymore, although he is not intent on hurting. Cameron relives the feeling of him filling the condom, tightened and sealed, it's soon forgotten as he slides out leaving her with a clean hollow sensation of emptiness. He has given her everything and now he is taking it all away, taking it back hidden where it doesn't belong. 

He shamelessly cleans himself, he has made a mess. Cameron ponders the possibility of him being the only responsible for the mess they lie in, in between his legs is still tender. 

He denies her fully now. However, he offers the comfort of touch, a lingering hand behind her neck where soothing love should be and retaliates. 

"You and I are not the same."

Foreman corners Chase in the locker room. 

And now he will see, he has always foreseen what rules in his kingdom, this would not be any different. First thing in the morning, it's clear as the blue sky above their heads. House crosses the lobby while indignation creeps into him, he doesn't even know why. Yet. 

"Did you break Cameron's little heart?" Chase is keeping his bag close and sits. It's quite the opposite, actually. Though, he'll never say. 

Opening the door to his office, House is hit by the burning recognition of l o s t. All his ducklings are in the playground: Foreman looking busy and about with a medical magazine in between hands. Cameron is sorting out folders, searching for a new case; occasionally talking to her peers for input, her scent has become meek. House has been so used to the polluted aroma of lilies that now being deprived of it threatened to give him a headache. 

Cameron's scent is dim and watered-down, it brings up questions which are dying at the tip of his tongue. But it's only when a freshly served cup of coffee is given, House identifies a missing puzzle piece. 

There's nothing coming from Chase. It's not new for doctors to hide their scent; blockers and suppressors available in the market nowadays, soft dented perfumes on display to offer comfort to possible patients, and considering their differences: Foreman being the only Alpha after himself, Cameron being a Beta and Chase guarding the fact he is an Omega as much as he wears it in pride. 

All of their scents balance each other creating a mellow net of safety within the department, rumours could be heard about it. 

And now a piece is missing. 

There's nothing House's sharp senses cannot detect. There's not even a lingering whiff of honeysuckle, rose wine or cream, the scents he commonly comes to associate with the youngest duckling. 

He is received with medical antiseptics and cleaning products. It feels as if it were meant to wound, which it does even if they can't place it right away or there's no reason for him to even spot it. There's no doubt. He has no proof but he is nonetheless certain. 

And it makes him want to scream. Mine. 

"No." He swears.

No, Foreman has it all wrong, he doesn't understand. No one does. So he shakes his head, hair brushing on his sides, giving him an acute softness Foreman is not used to see, he is more accustom to think it is all a lie. And Foreman catches a fleeting look, fading in smoke, a look in Chase's eyes, so ephemeral he almost wonders if he is imagining things. Oh, my, look at those eyes, look at the trouble they hide inside. Believe it or not Foreman swears to see pain in those eyes.

 "She broke mine."

Remy "thirteen" Hadley is a 30-something queer woman with a degenerative genetic illness and yet. I don't feel represented by her in any meaningful way. She's messy. She always makes the wrong calls. She doesn't bite back when she should. Allison Cameron, on the other hand ... It always felt to me like Cameron's role in the story is to voice the morally correct reaction. I relate to how she feels about House: first, when she's young, developing a crush on him, because she cares about people and likes broken people especially. She identifies that he saves lives and tries to do the right thing and is in awe of that because those are her goals, and she knows how hard it is, how Doing What's Right is not always right for YOU or the people you love. She has this very interesting moral center. Then she grows to get over the crush - a little piece always throbs, but she mostly gets over it - and becomes her own Superhero Doctor. She emulates House, learns from him, internalizes him enough that she can match his wit in season 5 and also go against Cuddy or even the patient when it matters.

I realize by making this about Hadley vs. Cameron I am pitting two bad bitches against each other for no reason but it's just making me think again about the discourse about representation. It reminds me of when Sense8 season 2 dropped and caught some criticism for addressing that discourse, for having a black african character say "actually I see myself in Jean Claude Van Damme, I don't think his whiteness matters, he represents COURAGE." Like. Little kids are going to idolize characters regardless of whether they reflect arbitrary identity markers. The important thing is that the story holds some kind of truth you can see yourself in. I never really see that with thirteen. She's too certain of herself. I don't understand why she would become a doctor. I'm with Amber on this one; Hadley is creepy and not really believable as a person.

It's complicated by Olivia Wilde's unearthly beauty and thinness but Jennifer Morrison is also very thin and she delivers something I can grasp, so ... IDK. I don't hate thirteen, I would write fic about her, but there's something missing and I'm trying to feel for what it is because I couldn't write her without addressing it.

Backstory: Pandora Jean D’Arc was born to two loving parents, named Mary Elizabeth and James in Newark, New Jersey. Pandora is of Italian and American descent, and has a very prominent ‘Jersey’ accent. Growing up, Pandora was always surrounded by her family. She mostly spent time with her cousins as a child, and her grandmother. As a teenager, she picked up negative habits such as smoking. Her and her friends thought it would be a cool thing to do, as they would snag a cigarette from one of their parents before meeting up at an abandoned trailer park nearby one of their houses. Pandora didn’t realize that it would become an addiction that felt almost impossible for her to break. Despite this, she did well in school. After Highschool, she pursed a job at a local office for bookkeeping. In this time, it was pretty hard to be bookkeeper as a female. But Pandora didn’t need to go to college or anything to pursue this job. She was trained for weeks, and then took an exam to qualify.

Other information: Pandora stands at about 5’5” and weight 126 lbs. She has a prominent pear shape, and mostly dresses in a bohemian style. Pandora’s personality is what people call a “phlegmatic”, which means a relaxed and peaceful person. She is very hardworking, and dislikes when people interrupt her work. Pandora is a “treat others the way you want to be treated”, type of person. If you are kind to her, she’s kind to you. If someone is an utter bitch to her, she will not hesitate to return that same bitchy energy to that person.

First, disclaimer: I'm on my second rewatch of house, season 2, and the last time I watched it was like ten years ago or more so.

Second, I'm so sorry you opened this can of worms because now I am Thinking about this and you get the brunt of it.

You're kind of right about him being the gordon ramsay of doctors. But he doesn't have the same kind of... compassion, maybe? He's not a shouty guy, but he is a major asshole. In the first season, its heavily stressed that House only takes patients he finds 'interesting' (aka challenging to diagnose).

(and honestly, that aspect of house makes me think that this won't be a great one-to-one translation. whoever takes on the role of house (probably hawke, bc main character) probably won't be as much of an ass)

BUT!!! there is a character who is a good doctor, cares about the patients, is criticized as being over compassionate, often makes slightly impulsive/risky choices when they think there's no other option:

So, Hawke. House.

Making Hawke House is pretty obvious. Also their names are similar. But a major aspect of playing DA2 is how the events of the game impact and affect Hawke, and House is a little too detached for that.

But then we have oncologist James Wilson, House's best friend, and total sweetheart -- except when he's talking to House, when he is capable of being a huge asshole.

For me, the (emotional) focal point of House MD is House and Wilson's relationship. Workplace drama doesn't appeal to me bc I don't enjoy watching people make problems for each other when they're supposed to be working together (why am i watching this show at all? good question, idk either). So in a setting where none of the characters seem to actually... like? each other?? the friendship here is one of the only genuine emotions moments we get.

So if House-Wilson is the plot-unrelated center of the show, then in da2 terms... it's got to be Hawke and Varric.

I think Hawke still takes on Doctor House because, main character syndrome. A purple Hawke could mesh well with House's sarcasm; otherwise we're remixing house and wilson.

Now the team - Foreman, Cameron, and Chase. They work under hawke together but are generally competing and sniping at each other.

It's got to be Anders, Fenris, and Merrill. We've already agreed that Anders is Cameron, but I don't think the others really match up too well. Merrill has Chase's parent issues with Marethari, and is similar to Cameron in that people are quick to dismiss her as naive or overly optimistic. Fenris, I can't think of anything, but they don't have to replace the characters exactly.

I don't think Isabela would be a doctor. I'm not sure what she would be here... maybe she takes on Stacy's role, a lawyer working witht he hospital, without the ex-gf situation? I'd love for her to be like, a patient-turned-friend somehow. acquaintance to patient to friend. WAIT no she could totally be a hotshot lawyer who constantly bends the rules, who happened to have a one night stand with hawke some time ago. (she also 'knows' the HoF, a famous doctor who happens to be working on a cure to the Blight... so...)

Aveline is Cuddy -- she's the one trying to keep Hawke and Varric in check, trying to run the hospital, but it's convenient for her to turn a blind eye most of the time, so she does. Not above a little manipulation or blackmail if necessary.

Sebastian, I honestly think, is a billionaire-inheriting priest who meets the crew because his only surviving family is in the hospital (there's a whole bit of 'are you sure you don't want us to just kill them? we'll only take a small cut' 'NO!'), and then later stays on to be with people in their last moments. Very affable, but probably also says his specific faith prayers over any of the dying, even if they don't want it. (bc 'how could more prayers hurt?')

Elthina, Meredith, and Orsino are on the board of directors or whatever its called. Elthina is the CEO (owner? most powerful anyway). Meredith wants the hospital to be more profitable. Orsino wants to do more teaching/research but doesn't actually have enough power to do so? I'm realizing I have no idea about the admin structure of a hospital so I'll stop here.

Haley, a fellow surgeon, groaned as she swung her bag over her shoulder, slamming her locker shut. Meanwhile, Y/N shrugged on her white coat, readjusting it on her shoulders. "Tough shift?" She received a nod. "Go home, get some sleep."

The former nodded, a sly smirk creeping onto her face. "How's it going with Chase?"

She nearly snorted at the question. "There is nothing going with Chase."

"Why not?"

"Because," She had nothing to say. No excuse, no reason.

Haley whined at her friend's daftness. "Okay, there's no real reason for you to not go for it. He likes you, you like him. So what if he was married?"

The doctor froze. "Married?"

"Yeah. He and Dr. Cameron were married. Not for long, though."

"Allison Cameron?"

"This is weird, I thought you knew." Haley looked to her watch. "I better get going, you have to start your shift."

Y/N had taken extreme measures to ensure that Robert Chase stayed a mile away at all times, by declining his coffee offer, to rescheduling her surgeries for earlier times. She'd successfully gone 3 days with little to no contact with him.

She wasn't sure which was more disheartening, the fact that he has an ex-wife, or that his ex-wife is a doctor.

"Is Y/N avoiding me?" Chase called after Haley who was finally working a day shift.

The woman shrugged, near a pout. "I don't know. She may just be a little on edge about things."

With a frustrated sigh, he ran a hand through his blond hair. "What do I do?"

"Take her out to dinner, show her a nice time."

That's what he'd do, he decided.

It took another day for him to hunt her down again, finding her giggling at the nurse's station with a coffee in her hand. "Y/N."

She practically jumped at his presence, nearly spilling the hot liquid contents of her cup. "Sorry, ladies, I gotta go. I have a consult with a patient. Julie, tell me how that dinner goes." Y/N began walking away, her colleague not far behind as his long legs took very long strides, soon walking right next to her. "Sorry, Robert, I'm busy."

"Where have you been?"

"What? Did you chase me down?"

Robert couldn't help but crack a smile at the pun, before remembering the matter at hand. "Why don't you go to dinner with me tomorrow? A date."

They'd only been on a couple of dates, coffee dates, breakfast, but somehow dinner seemed like a step so large it loomed over her like a shadow. They reached her office, her hand wrapping around the handle bar of her door as she turned to face him. "I want to, I really do, but I can't."

He frowned, defeated. "Why? Did I say something? Am I not good enough?"

"No, no! You're great, you're amazing, you really are." She'd let go of the door now, wringing her hands. "It's just, we could never work. I'm a doctor, you're a doctor. That's a concoction for distaster."

"Loads of couples here who are doctors work! Julie and her husband, John from the ER and his spouse are doing great."

"What about you and your ex-wife?" The question had caught him off guard as his mouth was left agape. She took his silence as confirmation, entering her office. "Exactly."

Chase followed her in, finally regaining his voice. "We didn't divorce because we were doctors. We divorced because," His head hung low. "she didn't like the impact House had on me. It was either I leave the hospital with her, or she leaves me."

Y/N's silence had left him anxious. "I'm sorry you went through that."
