My theory was that people from the south might like Ragatha more due to her feeling like someone with the "southern hospitality" thing drilled into her from a young age. Do we think Merry and Pippin reminded Boromir of Faramir when he were younger? A little mischievous, very well meaning, spending their time following their older family member on a fools quest. What about when Gandalf snaps at Pippin, if Boromir had been alive for the worst of them? I think Boromir would have taken up for Pippin quickly. Had the idea that when visiting nobles meet Merlin for the first time they assume Merlin is the court jester.
