The Beauty of Botticelli & The Beauty of Will Graham ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗

Hannibal’s first instinct upon seeing Will is how unique and different he is from the usual people he interacts with behind his persona. A way Hannibal also fell for him is with the physical appearance of Will Graham. As seen in the show Will isn't known for his looks but for how he doesn't get along with others. Even in the book, he's given a very so-so description of how he's seen by others as average or “not very handsome” as said by the red dragon in the book.

This is why I am examining the looks and appearance of Will Graham from the show only, as it is its own medium compared to the book. Will is not an average but an attractive man by looks alone thanks to Hugh Dancy. It was a factor that stuck out to me as I watched the show. With how the light shadows him and his startling pale skin and blue eyes. He reminded me of beauty only found in the paintings of old masters of Europe.

There are a myriad of reasons shown in the show but I will focus on what I see from an outside perspective into Hannibal's interests and thinking mixed in with my own.

Hannibal as we know likes Europe and favors the arts above all, looking through life with a gruesome but academic lens. Will is the personification of all the arts and humanities he holds so valuable. Will’s beauty transcends these periods and fits them. In morals and looks, Will has it all and is perfect in Hannibal's eyes.

His Vitruvian man, as this user on Tumblr, keenly pointed out. Hannibal is an academic and thinker at heart, he romanticizes Will Graham by his beauty being magnified by his thinking and his deep empathy encroaching on everything he touches. Hannibal's way of absorbing and showing love is embodied in the way he kills and talks to Will through veils of academic conversations with him. Hannibal has never felt nor something strongly other than to kill, which makes his feelings for Will blur in this messy dance of courtship.

First Will could be examined based on his features and personality, in a way examining him on how most people perceive him.

Will is a man who stands at average height with light blue eyes. He has a lean, masculine beauty that can easily mesmerize. His eyes, a deep, intense shade of blue, spark with intelligence and wit. With his tousled dark brown curls and strong, angular features, he has soft but masculine features. He has a lean build with pale skin. He commands attention in a room even with how he speaks rarely to draw attention to himself. He has a scruffy beard along his sharp jaw and an air of unsettledness to most people. It is radiated more by his lack of social interaction and often bored tone of speaking. He is our brooding protagonist with a deep and sensitive soul. He often rocks a disheveled yet charming style. His intense gaze and commanding presence give him an undeniable allure on-screen. A man who feels too much and is wrapped up trying to not let himself drown in it, saving lives.

Will is brave in the face of adversity no matter if it's on both sides or in his field, even as he is chipped away or broken down who he is at his core remains.

Will has features that were the beauty standard of both the medieval and Renaissance period. The Renaissance and medieval beauty standards for men concerning blue eyes and dark curls varied but were generally associated with nobility, strength, and a sense of mystery. During these periods, blue eyes were seen as captivating and intense, while dark curls were considered masculine and powerful. This combination of traits was often associated with warriors, heroes, and leaders. It was believed that these features suggested a deep, complex persona and attracted attention and admiration.

The beauty standard for men during the Renaissance and medieval periods was influenced by ancient Greek and Roman ideals of masculinity. Blue eyes and dark curls were considered attractive features, symbolizing youth and strength. It can be pointed out that Hannibal has a love of Classic Antiquity. During the Renaissance, which lasted from the 14th to the 17th century, the focus shifted towards humanism and the individual, and the ideal man was depicted as well-balanced, well-built, and well-groomed, often with light eyes and dark, curly hair.

Pale skin was considered a beauty standard for both genders during the Renaissance and Medieval periods. It symbolized wealth and status, as those who could afford to stay out of the sun had the free time to do so. A pale, blemish-free complexion was seen as a symbol of aristocracy and class. This preference for pale skin can be seen in many Renaissance and medieval works of art, where men and women are often depicted with a light, almost translucent complexion. It was seen to be revered and “angelic” to have such pale skin marking you as an individual of high status and closer to divinity.

Will is a closed-off man due to how others treat him in his field of behavioral science and federal agents. Hannibal is the first that look at Will not as a basket case but as a muse waiting to be molded. As highlighted in my other post Hannibal had a love for Botticelli and his artwork during the Italian Renaissance. As shown in Dolce with them sitting in the Uffizi gallery surrounded by Botticelli artwork.

He wanted Will to transform into the person he should be, into the person Hannibal envisions him to be. As one Redditor noted they sit in between the portraits of Simonetta and Botticelli. I will explain more about the relationship instead of briefly as this user did.

Simonetta Cattaneo Vespucci was a famed Genoese noblewoman married to Marco Vespucci. known for her beauty and charm. She was an inspiration to many artists of the time and had a close relationship with the Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli.

Botticelli was deeply smitten by Simonetta's beauty and grace. She was the inspiration for many of his works, including "The Birth of Venus," and he included her in many of his paintings. It is often speculated that Botticelli may have even harbored romantic feelings for her.

Botticelli's relationship with Simonetta Vespucci, the inspiration behind many of his famous works, was marked by a deep connection. Their relationship appears to have been akin to that of a muse and artist.

Simonetta Vespucci died in 1476 at the age of 21. The cause of her death is not accurately known, but it is believed to be from complications due to tuberculosis. It is said that Botticelli was devastated by her passing and even refused to paint for several months. He later channeled his grief into his works, creating some of his most beautiful paintings as a tribute to his beloved Simonetta.

Hannibal sees himself as an artist, in the culinary arts, traditional, psychology and so on. He has the mind of an artist who paints even the people he kills.

Throughout the show, he is often seen creating pieces of art, whether it be culinary masterpieces or gruesome tableau displays. Additionally, his ability to manipulate people and situations to his advantage can be seen as a form of metaphorical art, as he carefully constructs his plans to achieve his desired outcomes.

Like Botticelli, he sees himself as an artist creating his muse which is Will. Botticelli is noted as the themes in his art are biblical and had a great appreciation for Dante Alighieri. No matter how grotesque or unethical it is, it's Hannibal’s way of showing affection.

He is shown to have a deep appreciation and understanding of art and often incorporates elements of art and art history in many of his actions and conversations. He is also shown to have a keen aesthetic sensibility, often using beautiful imagery and metaphors in his interactions. He uses it, especially in sessions or conversations with Will. Additionally, Lecter is depicted as a creator himself, both in the literal sense as he composes music and paints, and more metaphorically as he engages in a creative act in his killings.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter’s attempts to show love to Will Graham are often twisted and manipulative, as his definition of “love” is different from the traditional sense. Throughout the show, Lecter goes to great lengths to get Will’s full attention and admiration, often in harmful and violent ways. He sees Will as his equal and wants to mold him into a partner, someone who can understand him completely. He continuously challenges and tests Will, trying to break him down to build him back up in a way that is acceptable to Lecter.

He is shaping his muse to be his perfect companion. To both worship and eat alive in his dark change.

Since we never got to see what HQTAS! Scare Boi looked like since he was always wearing his mask. What do you think he'd look like? Could you maybe write a short fic with him taking off his mask, and showering his face to his partner for the first time? Maybe ending with them kissing for the first time?

a/n: I honestly never stopped and thought about what he looked like lol but this is a super interesting idea! Also, so there’s no surprises his appearance is a mix between Happy Halloween Scooby-Doo and BTAS. He has the head shape and hair of HHSD but the hair color and eyes of BTAS if that makes any kind of sense lol, basically just combining two variants I like the most essentially, but feel free to ignore my descriptions and put in what features you guys want instead lol

HQTAS Scarecrow x Reader - Face Reveal

You would be lying if you said you hadn’t thought about what Jonathan Crane looked like under his mask.

It’s not like you wouldn’t be attracted to him anymore if you did see his face–you adored him for his personality more than anything.

However, you could tell the mask gave Jonathan some confidence and you didn’t want to take that away from him and patiently waited until he was comfortable to take it off…

Yet, that nagging query never fully left, in fact as time went on it got significantly louder and harder to ignore.

Every time you saw the rogue you hoped that time would be the time he finally shucks off his mask and show himself–

The time never came, it had been several months since you two officially became an item and even some of your friends were starting to wonder–

“Whatcha mean you haven’t seen his face? Is it some kinda kink or somethin’?”

“How do you date someone and not know what they truly look like?”

“What if he’s ugly? N-Not that I’m assuming he is–I haven’t seen his face either, but like…it’d suck ass wasting all that time for a dude that’s not even cute…”

Your eyes rolled to the back of your head as you read through the random string of texts.

“Is everything all right, darling?” Jonathan was coming back from the kitchen and made his way to the living room couch.

You slowly brought your head up from leaning against the arm rest to lean the opposite way so your head rested against Jonathan’s arm which he instinctively wrapped around your back to pull you closer to him.

“Uh, yeah, everything’s fine..my friends just being lovingly annoying as always..” You chuckled half-heartedly, but it was a half-truth anyway.

“Does…does it have to do with not showing you my face, yet?”

Your eyebrows rose up to your forehead as you quickly shot your head up to look at Jonathan.

“H-How did–”

“Some Legion members have brought it up recently…I figured it’d be a matter of time before some friends on your side may question it…” Jonathan casted his head to the side in shame.

Any amount of curiosity you had to his appearance was substituted by the guilt that welled up in your stomach like a balloon.

“Johnny, don't worry about what the Legion or my friends say…I'll wait however long it takes until you're comfortable…”

Jonathan looked back at you with a soft smile stretched along the mask. “Thank you, love, but I think you've waited long enough…as have I…”

Jonthan untied the rope around the burlap sack and then grabbed the edges and began lifting up the mask.

You knew he was removing the sack at a normal speed but yet you felt like he was going in slow motion.

You gasped softly as you finally took in your boyfriend for the first time.

Jonathan had a rather angular jawline that the masked seem to smooth out. His hair was a boyish shaggy style colored red and a prominent crooked nose…along with the warmest brown eyes that almost looked golden somehow.

Those very same eyes darted around the room to look anywhere but directly into your own eyes.

He cleared his throat. “Well, um..what do you think?”

You were silent as your eyes blinked, just fully taking in the man you've been dating for months now.

You have imagined countless times what he may have looked like in your head..but you never imagined him to look this, this adorable and this handsome.

You hesitantly reached your hand out, as if the moment you'd touch him you would shatter his face and see the mask again.

When you pressed your palm into his prominent cheek he gently leaned his face into your hand.

“Johnny, you…you're so handsome…I-I can't believe I'm finally seeing you!”

Jonathan's face began flushing a red as bright as his shirt. “T-Thanks, love…I'm sorry it took me so long…I just was worried what you'd think and that you may not like what you saw…”

This made you bring your other hand up to the other side of his face. Your hands now framed his newly exposed face as you slowly pulled his face closer to yours.

“Jonathan, I would love you no matter what you looked like, but you still don't need to worry because I think you're incredibly cute…” To deepen your comment, you pecked the crooked bridge of his nose.

Which was something else that made you want to see Johnny's face.

There were so many chances for you two to kiss, or something he would say or do that made you want to kiss his face like you did just now.

Something that wasn't possible or at least wasn't exactly comfortable until this very moment.

Jonathan's cheeks tinted at soft pink at the tiny gesture of affection.

“That was…another reason why I felt I should show you my face sooner…”

You smiled as neither of you had to say it. You leaned your face against his own, his breath meeting your own fully, your lips gently meeting his properly…

Your body was overcome with warmth, finally getting to kiss the man you love. The man that you could finally put a true face to.

“Wow…” Jonathan chuckled breathlessly when you two reluctantly pulled away. “I should have removed my mask way sooner…”

You giggled as you took in his fully flustered expression.

Now that his mask was gone you were going to commit all of his expressions to memory, so you could always recollect them whenever he had to put his mask back on.

You leaned in once more and kissed his cheek. “I love you Johnny…”

Jonathan hummed sweetly. “And I love you too, darling.”

“And I love your face…”

Jonathan laughed. “Good to know, love, and for the record, I love your face too…”

For a moment, I feel the need to give more credit to Lauren Faust and G4 MLP’s design and style. I want to explain why it fundamentally worked despite the ponies having small faces, and what about G5's artstyle does not.

Horses are annoying to draw (deceptively complex faces, legs, postures and feet compared to other ungulates) and so also annoying to toon-ify and chibi-fy even for veterans of this craft. No matter how glitter-sparkly the magical horse, we ALL KNOW there's ways this can go horribly wrong:

I think donkeys are easier to cartoonify than horses. They have naturally shorter faces so making them into chibis or babu cartoons is easier.

HOWEVER, I will say G1 and G2 My Little Pony generations box art and cartoons mostly had the facial proportions right. Yes, the face+muzzle was still super short, but A) not unbelievable to some real life equines, and b) it’s a chibified, ‘consolidated’ version of a horse face proportionally:

Of course there were bizarro moments, especially in My Little Pony Tales, but for the most part the series kept the ‘characterized horse face’-tropes for the characters. As a child and even as an adult I'm gonna level with you: I NEVER MINDED the lack of visible hooves or fetlocks for My Little Ponies toys.

What I did mind was the way the way the ponies carried themselves and walked in these shows.

They walked and frolicked like wobbly dogs. Even when they weren't replicating humans creepily like in My Little Pony Tales, the ponies movements were really weird. And because the movements were weird it made the fetlock-less hooves on the animated or DRAWN characters more nub-stub like than they're supposed to be.

The G3 cartoons and box art (besides being bad, writing wise. sns) REALLY emphasized the large-ness of the eyes on the ponies over the previous gens. Obviously the eyes on the first gen ponies were always big and detailed, but Gen 3 really went nuts with that big-ness of those eyes on the face. This style works just fine on cartoon-fied deer and caprids but not at all on horses, cows or elephants. BUT, I'm gonna be fair, I don't think the G3 pones don't somehow look like horses.

Something that to me really hurt G3’s art and specials were how static the ponies felt anatomically. I guess I don’t remember them being played with much in the older gens, but the way in which the G3 ponies never emoted with their ears knocks them down. G3’s body autonomy was even worse even before they ever got to ‘chibi’ era in the late 2000s. The ponies ALWAYS walked way too statically ALL the time and that just brought attention to how unhorselike they were to me, a kid who loved animals and even cutesy stylized animals.

Highkey kind of hate how G3 defenders keep saying ‘at least their faces are long’ as if that’s literally the only thing that matters when it comes to cartoon horse. K, then I’ll watch something with horse-furries or rubber-hose cartoons because horses legs and bodies don’t remotely look like like globs of cheese sticks blocking along.

So then Lauren Faust comes in and given what she’s worked on, she definitely knows ‘compact’ features on cartoon animals. For the alicorns and male ponies she keeps the angular ‘long face’ feeling (seen here on a Bratz pony) but for the main female characters the ponies have super small muzzles and snouts. Within her style I really like how the ponies are drawn.

Still, not gonna lie, they DO otherwise look more like chibi xmas deer if they look like any ungulates at all. It's why I think this looked better for Faust's designs of the reindeer in Them's Fighting Herds. Compact, but still obviously a deer and a reindeer specifically.

((as an aside, I don't mind chibi/retro 'bambi'-lookin cartoon deer for Christmas, but I do deeply prefer reindeer being chungus cowdeers))

What I personally defend about the G4 ponies has all to do with the proportions of the compact face. Their eyes are still too big and still too close to their muzzles, but not SO close together that they read as a lizard or a cat. This made it cute whenever you saw a pony looking down their snout or from an under-angle.

The most ‘un-horse-like’ feature was always when the ponies would be seen front front on, though even then I would say it follows the rule of horse-face perspective; it COULD definitely be better but it wasn't the worst:

The ponies’ ‘side eye’ view was never too alienating for me. Most of the G4 ponies chose to have the characters be seen and look good from the side as that is still where these horse characters have their enormous eyes.

You'll notice though, especially once the movie came along, how comfortable G4 eventually got with doing a more dynamic face angle that, while maybe easier to make the characters 'emote' widely, also really drew attention to the shortness of the face.

A big thing that really stood out to me with Friendship is Magic is how the ponies’ body anatomy worked. This was another thing that made them feel a lot more horse-like and caused me to not care about things like missing felocks or the smol faces. Ponies would emote with their ears like real horses; the way they carried their legs and used them to pick up or point felt more horse-like. It was really cute.

The animation style and software meant that the walking animation for things like cantering, galloping and idle horse movements worked. The way they reared up or kicked stuff behind them felt a million times more natural than what you'd get in Generations 1-3.

Ultimately I too would prefer fetlocks and some longer faces, BUT never to the degree that I found the g4 ponies ‘not horses’ somehow.

I wish I was a better horse/animal cartoonist-artist so I could break this down better in words. It was never a ‘Catscratch’ problem for me w G4 ponies (i.e the characters looked so unlike their original animal that I didn’t really recognize them as that animal anymore). But, I get the complaint. In the world of anthropomorphism part of the appeal is the abstraction BUT ALSO identification of real animal features on a character to make them appealing to a human audience. Werewolves and wolf-furries are as pretty, cute or terrifying in whatever way the artist decides to make them more (or less) like the animal; Some werewolves are just humans with wolf faces, some are a really creepy half-animal hybrid ala American Werewolf in London, point is they all work for their intended purposes. When you draw a wolf character badly (bad face proportions, visible whiskers like a cat) it doesn’t just bother the animal-loving side of the brain, it bothers the character’s appeal.

Gen 4 was highly stylized but it never became that kind of uncanny in how they drew their equines, and that had all to do with how Faust specifically designed them originally.

All this to say what makes the Gen 5 ponies ugly and feel less horse like really IS all in the face and body. The G5 ponies have the same face length as G4 but the G5 ponies all have eyes waaaay closer to their muzzles. All of them. They all got Disney-same-face-syndrome-Elsa -ace both in 2D and 3D animation. It doesn’t look right. Their gates, walking and running animation is also not nearly as good as Gen 4.

Every time I see their fetlocks and more detailed markings I actually wince more than I do appreciate them. Because they’re combined so much with the most unhorselike bodies and faces, I don’t really care that they get fetlocks. Who cares about fetlocks? Your horse has a human face.

That’s really what the problem is with Gen 5's artstyle and I’d argue a lot of chibi horse creatures. Small cartoon horses CAN work. Their faces don’t have to be ‘long’ but they have to otherwise look the way a horse’s face looks. Otherwise you aren’t making horse-creatures, you’re making creatures with details like a horse ala the way mobians look in Sonic, but not-horse creatures. And they ugly.

I hate the newfangled designs of the Gen 5 characters. I think all the extra detail makes them overdesigned and an eyesore. The mane 6 combined with Spike, Celestia and the CMC all had really good color theory applied to them so that whether they were in a group or alone the colors fit the scene.

Gen 5 feels like the designers looked at a bunch of fan redesigns of Gen 4 but took the overdesigned, animation-unfriendly elements of them and went NUTS. WHY does Izzy's horn or the wings on the pegasus ponies NEED to have that extra intricate detail? Answer: They DON'T and it doesn't really look much better in either 2D or 3D.

The extra patterns are also too much on these already-unhorse like horse things. It feels like it's compensating for the unhorselikeisms. It's frankly unappealing to me as someone who's teenage-hood was dominated by alicorns and already garish colors of these bobblehorses. Ponyhead from Star vs the Forces of Evil looked more like a horse than the Gen 5 ponies.

Gen 5 MLP is not bad, but I would take Gen 4's artstyle ANY DAY.

Gen 4 wasn't good because 'it was Gen 4 and Gen 4 is somehow immune from criticism'; it was good in the sense that in the early seasons the writers and art directors had an idea of what they were doing while the later seasons and later gens DID NOT.

Weren't You Aware, Angelfish?

Characters: Yandere!Azul x GN! Reader

Summary: You think it's a game, but it's much more than that…

Word Count: 3k

Author's Notes: A little background on this one; I actually really got into the Octavinelle Trio when the Little Mermaid event (which ran during third week of May in 2023) was going on following the live action film being released in theaters. At the time, I was also about midway through the "Merchant of the Depths" and was laughing at myself for the irony of participating in an event that matched the story I was reading. And I even received Azul’s SSR dorm card in the mirror summoning as well.

Either way, I had come across a few head cannons and short stories of if the characters were actually aware of themselves being in a game and thought I'd take my own spin on it with Azul (I know there's a lot of these ones for this character - but you have to admit, the guy's got style).

Warnings: Obsession/manipulative behaviors, some bullying elements, self-aware

"Oh, hey guys."

Azul blinked in surprise as a pair of (e/c) eyes peered out at him and the twins from under strands of (h/c).

It was the Ramshackle dorm prefect - and yet it wasn't.

Azul knew that he, among many others, were mere characters in a game called "Twisted Wonderland" - a battle simulation game that followed the stories of seven famous villains from a strange land called "Disney." The main character of the game was a character by the name of "Yuu," but each player had selected to choose a different name for their character depending upon their preferences and personalities - though Azul could never be certain if it was their real name or not.

This one just happened to go by the name (Y/C).

(Y/C) had appeared before them around a month ago, Azul had remembered a droning voice on speakers as the player before them shifted on a seat of metal, thier eyes looking towards the screen then away again before they closed the game. The other characters had been confused by it - usually a player would stay for a bit and work on the stories or do lessons when they first started. (Y/C), however, was shifty and nervous - they reminded Azul of a mouse that scuttled across the floors of the Ramshackle dorm, constantly stopping and looking around before continuing on its way.

However, as things progressed, Azul quickly learned that (Y/C) was indeed a diligent player.

He would hear them laugh at Ace and Deuce’s antics, mumble under their breath when they knew something was going to happen, and gap at each of the overblots as they happened. Azul quickly became interested in the player, moving to the front scenes as his turn to take the spotlight appeared. As they worked through his story, he found them to be… well, quite like him. They were crafty and cunning, all smiles and false confidence - a show they put on when they weren't alone. People fell for their charms like prey to an angular fish, their bright light luring them in until they snapped them up as per their job required. However, they struck good bargains with them - something that Azul had… never invested in.

Now, there was a special event that he and the tweels would be a part of - a special event for a revised film inspired by the life of the Great Sea Witch.

Azul looked on as (Y/C) shifted through the cards in thier possession, having selected Floyd first. They had received his dorm card about two weeks prior to the event, their excitement to raise its stats apparent in the forefront of thier mind. They filled the class, selecting Jade’s ceremonial robes card as well as Azul’s ceremonial robes card along with Cater and Rook's dorm uniform cards before heading into the class with Floyd with Azul watching on in curiosity.

"Something on your mind, Azul?" Jade asked him from his doorway, "You seemed to be watching our magicless prefect a bit more than normal."

Azul regarded his vicewarden with an arched brow, "Jade, I have no idea what you are talking about."

Jade smiled, his teeth peering out from behind his lips, “Azul, forgive me, but if I didn’t know any better… I’d say you were jealous.”

“Jealous?” Azul scoffed with a wave of his hand, “Who said anything of the sort?”

Jade crossed an arm around his middle as his other arm rested on top, his forefinger and thumb stroking his chin in thought, “Not that it makes any difference, but I’ve noticed you’ve been keeping quite a close eye on our player - quite the character, are they not?”

Azul shrugged, “I suppose so…”

“I bet you haven’t given a thought to knowing them outside of the game, though.”

Azul turned at the comment, his sea green eyes glowing with mischief as a tell-tale smile formed across his lips, “My dear Jade, have you and Floyd been up to something?”

Jade smiled in agreement, “Of course we have… would you like to hear?”

“I would indeed. Tell me what you know.”

Jade uncrossed his arms and folded his hands into his pockets, “Our player has only been playing for about a month, as you know well - and has obviously cleared three books of our game within that time frame. They like a good gamble here and there, but they understand when there’s a time for fun and a time for work - something you should learn in my opinion.”

“Yes, yes,” Azul waved his hand, “Whom is their current favorite?”

“It varies from day to day - though (Y/C)’s profile indicates that it is currently Malleus Draconia,” Jade answered, “However, based on their world… they do have a fascination for sea creatures.”

Azul frowned, “Their world?”

Jade nodded, “Every so often we’re given a glimpse of the player’s real world - their reality. (Y/C) currently lives with an ailing father and a mother that is trying to hold everything together. They’re a full time student in what they call ‘high school’ and works at a family restaurant part time as a waitress. They like spending time on social media, reading when not with us, and does a bit of sewing from my understanding.”

Azul rubbed his chin in thought, “Do they… play other games?”

“Several - (Y/C) has a very high social media presence and has been gaining followers over the course of several years, speciallizing in strategic battle games and, apparently, even romance games,” Jade answered, “However… (Y/C)’s very shy and keeps to themselves quite a bit. From my understanding, they’re not exactly… well-liked by the other students at the school they attend. (Y/C) often eats alone and prefers the company of fictional characters or those online to those in their world.”

“Not well-liked? (Y/C)’s well-liked here!” Azul answered in confusion.

“Perhaps, but we all eventually become attached to our player - they’re the star of their own story here, after all,” Jade agreed, “And (Y/C)’s practically the same in their world - kind, supporting, caring… but is an outcast.”

“Care to explain why?”

Jade shakes his head, “I wish I could tell you, Azul - but even I am not certain why that is.”

Azul squeezed his lips in thought before turning to Jade, “Is there a way we can dig into more about our player?”

“There might be something within the profile, but a chance at looking into the outside world? That is a one in a million chance of happening. I was given a glance when (Y/C) was using me for a battle - but it was very short. The rest of the information I gathered was from other characters - specifically Cater who has been with them the longest. You know how he will speak for a chance at gaining more followers.”

Azul chuckled with a smile, “Excellent work, Jade. For the time being, I’d like to find out as much as you can about our player - Floyd, if he’s in the mood, will probably want to know more about ‘shrimpy’ as well, get him in on the search too. Though, I suppose we can only do what we can for right now…”

In the days that followed, (Y/C) was consistently in the Octorio’s presence. As they met each requirement the Octavinelle Training Camp event gave them, (Y/C) beat every battle they were given and took in the rewards with vigor; their method was simple - they finished all of Floyd’s tasks before closing the game, reopening it the following day with fresh eyes and ready for the challenges that awaited them and selected Jade as their next partner. Azul watched from the sidelines as each task was completed and battle won; it was strange to hear how (Y/C) would always keep the trio together, Azul stuck in between the tweels as they switched spots. However - Azul couldn’t be completely disappointed in them; after all, (Y/C) did invite him to attend each lesson with them and the tweels.

So why was it so hard for him to not feel this… jealous anger that was slowly rising with him? It wasn't like they were anything interesting - the only thing they had in common, maybe, was the fact that (Y/C) was business-minded - even for a high schooler.

Azul pinched the bridge of his nose as cards of various characters floated across the screen; Floyd... Vil... Epel... Malleus... Trey... All of them appeared across the screen over and over like turbulant waves on the shorelines - yet none of them were of him. (Y/C) flipped through the cards again, their (e/c) eyes hard with determination.

"One last roll," Azul heard them say, "I have enough for a chance encounter - please let it be one I don't have."

The music played as the dark mirror appeared again, "Bearer of dark powers, I call thee forth!"

Azul could practically feel (Y/C) vibrating with anticipation as clacks echoed in the small area that was their bedroom. Jade... Floyd... Vil... Sebek... Idia... Malleus... Lilia... Rook...

"You're so lucky to have met a compassionate person like me..."

Azul's voice stuck in his throat as (Y/C) squealed in delight, "AZUL! Oh my GOD! I have your CARD!"

And indeed they had gotten it - Azul's SSR dorm card flashed across the screen with the octomer perched in a leather chair, Jade and Floyd just behind him with the sea witch's familiar mirror in the background. Azul was vibrating with excitement - at long last, he was now in the spotlight, appearing before (Y/C) in his finely dressed dorm uniform. The octomer was beside himself with excitement as (Y/C) clicked back on the homescreen, scrolling through their cards and smiling as they found the newest addition.

"Azul..." they whispered so softly, "I'm so excited... I wasn't expecting this... not in the slightest. I hope that I don't disappoint - I'll get this leveled up and we'll work together, you and me."

'You could never disappoint me, angelfish,' Azul wanted to say as he felt something pull him to the front of the screen. He now stood in Ramshackle Dorm, front and center as the eyes of (Y/C) looked upon him, thier features brightening.

"Thank you so much, Azul," they grinned, a look of sheer awe and excitement taking root across their face, "I'm so glad to add you to the team."

The event ended far too quickly for Azul's liking, meaning that he could no longer work with his player one-on-one - at least until the next training camp. For now, Azul was content to use his days watching his player as he peered into their normal everyday life.

Jade had not been lying when he told Azul about (Y/C)’s busy schedule - they awoke every morning at six on the nose, dressed and readied themselves for school - helping their mom with a few simple chores before heading out the door. (Y/C) was an intriguing student, using common sense to answer their professors’ questions and asking more in return - though Azul could hear snickering in the background and soft insults that were directed at his player. (Y/C) sat alone at lunch, the game open in front of them as they nibbled on a sandwich - keeping thier promise to level up Azul's card as they doodled in the notebook beside them. A few times, they would have a set of headphones in and would hum along with the music that would come through the speakers - making Azul strain to hear them. After school, (Y/C) would head over to one of the local restaraunts, changing into their work uniform and began the grunging job of serving guests. Azul listened as the clientel would call them over - some pleasant, others not so much; though he was surprised by (Y/C) ways of handling them, giving their best award-winning smile and working their way into their hearts to the point that they couldn't take it or dropped the subject entirely.

Day in and day out, Azul was there and listened to everything everyone told them; week after week, he saw the light slowly begin to fade from their eyes...

And by the time summer had come, (Y/C) was struggling - mentally and emotionally. Gone was the happy-go-lucky teen that Azul had slowly become attatched to, in their place was a saddened and heavy-burdened individual that sought the comfort of loniness - fictional characters were their only friends now.

One night, (Y/C) perched on their bed after a particularly rough day at work. Azul had seen one of the customers - another student that was prone to bullying (Y/C) in class - trip them while they were carrying a pot of hot soup to bring to the salad bar; regardless if it was intentional or unintentional, (Y/C) could have been seriously injured - burned from how hot the liquid was. Then, (Y/C)’s boss degraded them - telling them that if they weren't so stupid and watched where they were going, none of this would've happened; even though it was clearly not (Y/C)’s fault. When they got home, (Y/C)’s mother had to rush their father off to the hospital - something about his ailment suddenly turning for the worse and making (Y/C) now worried sick about their father's health - no longer caring about the injury they sustained and the pain they felt within.

(Y/C) tapped the screen of the game, opening up and laying their phone against a box that sat on the bedside table, watching as Azul greeted them in his normal fashion.

"Helping people is what I live for. As housewarden, I will do everything to support my students," Azul smiled in greeting.

"I wish the same could be said for me," (Y/C) sighed, laying their head against the pillow as the music of the Mostro Lounge filled the background of the bedroom.

"Hm? And why do you think I wouldn't support you, angelfish?"

(Y/C) turned to look at their phone as Azul smiled. They rubbed thier face for a moment before muttering, "I must be more tired than I thought. I thought you just said something."

"I did, angelfish," Azul's voice came loud and clear as (Y/C)s' eyes widened, "I said, 'Why do you think I wouldn't support you?'"

(Y/C) blinked, "Y-you... talked. You can talk?"

"Of course I can talk," Azul answered, resting his hands on his hips in disappointment, "What makes you think that I wouldn't? We've talked before, after all."

"Y-yes... but that was scripted," (Y/C) rubbed their face again, "I must be dreaming - just some fantastical thing because of the stress and anger I've been experiencing lately."

"(Y/N), come now, you know that's not true."

"H-how do... you know my name?"

"I've been keeping an eye on you for some time, (Y/N)," Azul answered, "I know all about you - what you like and dislike, what your biggest fears and regrets are and what you wish for most in the world. I can offer that, you know."

"Offer what?" (Y/N) rubbed their face then, "Wait a minute... why am I even discussing this with you? You're a character in a game and I live in the real world - there's no way this is happening either - this is just the rambling of a stressed out lonely teenager who gets enjoyment out of playing a game and reading fanfictions."

"I assure you, this is no dream," Azul answered, "And you're not going to get rid of me that easily either."

(Y/N) frowned, "What do you mean? What did you do?"

"Simply enough - I hacked this phone," Azul admitted, "It took a bit to figure out the workings of it, but now you won't be able to do anything unless I give you my permission to do so."

"You... what?!" (Y/N) glared at Azul, "This is my only form of communication! My only way to be someone! I use this for school! Work! Why would you do that?"

"I admire your ability and drive, angelfish, I really do," Azul smiled wickedly, "However - 'real life,' as you call it, is keeping you from me. You were hurt today and have been stepped on over and over like a piece of gum on your school's cemented sidewalks. What I am willing to offer you, in exchange for your undivided attention that is, will allow you complete freedom from the outside world. You will never have to experience that sort of degration and torement again."

"And what about my friends? My family?" (Y/N) askes, "You think I'll sign my name on a contract of yours so willingly?"

"You did the first time around."

"That was scripted!"

"Angelfish," Azul's tone turned dark, "You really have no say in this. I know your family is struggling so I'll modify the contract, only for your sake though. As for your 'friends,' you really have none in that world - I have been with you for the past two months, constantly watching you and, yes, protecting you. You might not see it now, but you will in due time - besides we're the same age, are we not?"

"Close... maybe," (Y/N) admits.

"Then, what's the problem?" Azul folded his arms across his chest, "Sign the contract - and I will give you everything your heart desires."

The screen shifted as a familiar golden hue appeared on the screen.

"Here's the deal, Angelfish," Azul's voice appeared in the background, "In exchange for your undivided attention, I will grant you - and your family - the funds needed to help you both financially and comfort. You and family will want for nothing and I will provide support you your ailing father. You will belong to me completely, and when such a time arrives that the two of us are old enough, we will be married."

(Y/N) looked over the contract on the screen, biting her lip.

"And you promise I will be able to stay with my family? Still see them when I want to?"

"Yes - it would be improper for the two of us to live together as I will need time to prepare for that event. However, you will not be able to tell anyone about this arrangement - unless you wish to lose your voice in the process."

"N-no thank you."

(Y/N) could practically see Azul's grinning features, "Then, Angelfish mine... sign on the dotted line. Let's embark on this new adventure... together, just you and me."

Appearance:

Tyler’s appearance resembles that of a death's head moth with sharp angular features. He is somewhat slender, standing 9ft tall with greyish skin and an extra set of arms just above the hips. His hands, forearms and lower legs are a reddish dark brown eventually getting darker towards his hands and then fading back into the grey towards his upper bits. On his face, he has a skull design and pitch-black eyes with no pupils or irises which are only shown when feeling high amounts of certain emotions he has yellowish almost white pupils.

The inside of his mouth is a dark grey with cream almost white sharp teeth lining the top and bottom accompanied by an elongated yellow tongue. He has short dirty blonde hair with two fluffy feather antennae of different browns and yellows. Around his neck and along his chest sits a fluffy boa-like fur consisting of a dark reddish brown and a happy trail on his stomach, Tyler also has two top surgery scars that he loves showing off with pride.

Tyler's genitalia is as one would say unique, instead of just having male parts or female parts he has both well kinda. His genitalia work similar to how lizards and dolphins essentially have a cloaca where it retracts inside and only comes out when turned on or in use.

His wings are similar to Valentino's and how he uses them but with the colour scheme being yellows, blacks and many different browns the same colour palette you would often see on a dead head moth. Tyler's wings are extremely soft to the touch and very fluffy with reddish fur lining the edges and are usually wrapped around his body acting as a type of coat or cloak depending on what outfits he chooses to wear them with.

𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬:

Tyler's outfits are inspired by the 18th century to the late 19th century and refuses to wear anything else with most of his clothes being custom-made with the help of Rosie over in cannibal town. But he does have Three signature looks that he likes to parade around hell.

𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 outfit consists of his wing cloak, a once-white now faded cream poet shirt with puffy sleeves, large frills on the front, black lace-up shoes, and dark grey formal pants.

𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 favourite outfit is dedicated to his husband Alastor with a brooch on his fluff that resembles Alastor's microphone. He wears brown formal pants, a faded black tunic, a dark red striped vest with black buttons adorning each side, and brown formal shoes.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 outfit is a satin dark blue tunic with puffy sleeves, a brown striped vest with black lining, a greyish green scarf accompanied by a black gem, long brown striped pants, and black and white formal shoes.

𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐟𝐢𝐭: The outfits that Tyler wears for his drag shows consist of a mixture of Victorian dresses with a lot of lace and puffy sleeves some showing more skin than the average Victorian style dress would show.

𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐟𝐢𝐭: Tyler’s night clothes are quite simple before he met Alastor it would simply be nothing at all, but since then out of respect for Alastor’s old-fashioned ways of decency, he now wears a short cream silk/lace nightgown along with a matching robe. On colder nights and when he gets up to make breakfast Tyler will wear a set of cotton long pants and a burgundy cable knit sweater.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐬:

At first glance, he can seem extremely intimidating but underneath his hard gaze and rigid posture are just all-out golden retriever vibes and love when demons/sinners and humans give him attention or compliments by adding more fuel to the fire of his ego and you will never see his cold, sadistic, downright terrifying side that he is known for.

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜: Tyler is the epitome of charm and charisma. He can effortlessly captivate anyone with his smooth words and seductive demeanour.

𝐄𝐥𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭: Tyler is highly eloquent and sophisticated, adding to his mysterious and alluring aura. He speaks with a rich vocabulary and a confident tone.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭: Behind his charming facade lies a sharp and analytical mind. Tyler is quick-witted and able to adapt to any situation that's given to him by using his words to bite back most of the time otherwise it's his teeth.

𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Tyler sees himself as a homme fatale and uses his charm and seductive nature to get what he wants mainly using this skill on Valentino and the rest of the V’s to mess around with them.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Despite his manipulative nature towards the V’s, Tyler is fiercely loyal to those he cares about and will go to great lengths to protect his loved ones, especially Alastor.

𝐁𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:

Now looking at the 9ft moth you may expect him to be a hardcore dom when it comes to the bedroom but in reality, it just depends on the partner he's with at the time, since marrying Alastor he fits the criteria of a pleasure dom and sometimes on the rare occasion where Alastor was being an attention seeking brat than he would use a much harder but effective disciplinary method in their sessions or Tyler will sometimes let Alastor take charge but that's very rare.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚: Sex is Tyler's playground, he loves finding out what makes his sexual partners tick and moan by exploring new ways to get them utterly cock drunk. He loves trying out new things and has an endless supply of equipment to try out.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫: Kinky sex, dominance, submission, power play, rigging and other things that seem out the norm during sex, Tyler finds pleasure in the thrill of it all whether that be making his partners squirm from being tied up and edged to the max or showing them who really in charge when it come to the bedroom.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫: Tyler loves focusing more on their partner's pleasure rather than their own pleasure. This means he tends to focus more on giving their partner the pleasure rather than themselves honestly as long as they are enjoying and are sent into a subspace that's all Tyler needs to finish.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜: To be completely honest after meeting Alastor Tyler has become such a romantic when it comes to the bedroom and cares about the emotions and intimacy with Alastor even if he tries to get Tyler to go harder on him it is always filled by sweet words of “I Love You” which Alastor hates.

𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Other than being a loa spirit for the humans up topside he is also an owner of a very successful 1900-themed burlesque club called the Shadowplay Speakeasy which is always hidden and changes location throughout the many alleyways across Hell’s sevens rings but since meeting Alastor he now resides in the Pride ring. The reason for this was to create a place where sinners and hellborns could come for the amazing drinks, music, performances, aesthetics and overall appreciation of how Tyler treats his employees and clients who use Shadowplay as a sanctuary to get away from being exploited and abused by other demons, especially Valentino.

Which is how he would later come to know Angel Dust and eventually take him under his wings. He does a variety of different performances including drag shows on occasion and sometimes performs at Ozzie’s with the King of Lust himself who he is still really good friends with despite being in a friends-with-benefits type relationship in the past and has now become Ozzie’s and Fizz’s number one shipper.

When on the stage he goes either by Lady or Pidge where he gets to show his more feminine side when out on stage but would later take on the name Maman of Shadows as a result of his employees (mainly Angel Dust)

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬:

𝐔𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬: Tyler has the ability to conjure and create shadows as the result of being idolised by topside as the Loa of The Shadows and Death and often sees his shadows as friends rather than a means to gain power. Like any parent, Tyler does have favourites among his Shadows with Wybie being his right-hand shadow/personal shadow.

𝐖𝐲𝐛𝐢𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐨: Wybie has been with Tyler from the very start, with him stating that his shadow was created before he came into existence. For a demon's shadow, he has a very cheerful and outgoing personality, especially towards Alastor's shadow Ozul and can be very touchy towards the ones he feels comfortable around and usually tries to flirt with Ozul daily. (Inspiration Aziraphale)

𝐎𝐳𝐮𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐨: Tyler created Ozul by giving Alastor's shadow life after he had mastered shadow work. Now unlike Wybie Ozul is an exact copy of Alastor but that's just the front he puts up as the result of him being the Radio Demons shadow like all shadows. They look up to their counterparts but he is such a sweetheart deep down that only Tyler and Wybie can bring out when they have their alone time together which Alastor hates. The one thing Ozul and Alastor share in common though is how to show their affection towards Tyler and Wybie, with Alastor not being a very good teacher when it comes to how you show affection towards someone you like and has learnt that to show love is to act defensive towards Wybie but luckily just like Tyler, his shadow knows that it's just a front. (Inspiration Crowley)

He is also able to physically touch and feel the shadows without going straight through their forms like others can and can also sense if someone may have the potential to harness the shadows which is how he first came across Alastor.

𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: As a result of being in tune with the shadows, he can create portals with them and use them to travel around the many rings of hell but only if there are shadows. Being the Loa of death he is the watcher of cemeteries up topside and the guardian between the living and the dead meaning he can travel to earth by either altar or a funeral with his vèvè on the tombstone. His vèvè depicts a tomb with a cross and two coffins, symbolising death.

𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦: Other than English he is also fluent in French and Cajun French because of his ties with New Orleans as a loa spirit and occasionally visited topside during the 1700-1900.

𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: His demonic form is more skeletal than normal with his body being more sharp and angular in most places making him incredibly lanky, his eyes are pure white showcasing no shine or glint. For height, just like Alastor’s demon form Tyler is incredibly huge standing between 15-16ft. At the corners of his mouth are white stitches that make him smile, showcasing sharp jagged teeth. For his hands, they become longer and sharper like razorblades and if in the close vicinity, you will be able to hear a thousand different voices scream and cry out loud from his many shadows.

𝐏𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬: Not to be confused with Valentino's repugnant imitational smoke bullshit Tyler has the ability or rather a skill set as he doesn't consider this a power to use against others since Tyler is a moth demon he can produce pheromones that smell like a mixture of sandalwood, pink pepper and leather musk that can increase there partner's libido while also acting as a type of relaxation if directly smelled from his scent glands.

𝐓𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: Tyler is immune to most chemical agents including Valentino's smoke and is unable to be put under his spell.

𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: As a result of having an extra pair of arms Tyler can multitask whether that be holding a glass of wine while he cooks or reading a book while Alastor is lying down on his chest and tracing his back.

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 The perks of being a moth demon is that Tyler can fly although he doesn't use them to. Just like Valentino Tyler can also use his wings to create powerful gusts of wind and other than being an asset when it comes to combat they are also used as a piece of clothing from wearing a long cloak to a coat or shawl Tyler can alternate the style of his wings.

𝐕𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 Since being a part of the loa spirits and also practises voodoo Tyler can perform rituals and magic and can conjure objects at will.

I've spent WAY too many hours recently going down the Vivziepop rabbit hole, and I'm absolutely not sorry about it. If you haven't experienced her chaotic, colorful universe yet, allow me to introduce you to animation's deliciously demonic darling.

Who is Vivziepop and Why Should You Care?

Vivienne Medrano (known online as Vivziepop) is this absolutely BRILLIANT animator, director, and comic artist who's basically revolutionizing adult animation right before our eyes. She was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland and fun fact she is of Salvadoran descent. Vivienne studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and graduated in 2014 and has since created her own animation empire ever since.

Vivziepop first gained significant attention with her animation "Die Young" (a Kesha music video animatic) back in 2013. However, it was her original character Charlie Morningstar—a literal princess of Hell with a heart of gold—that would eventually catapult vivzie into animation stardom.

Her big breakthrough came with "Hazbin Hotel," an adult animated series about Charlie trying to rehabilitate demons in Hell. What started as an independent pilot in 2019 became this massive internet phenomenon that eventually got picked up by A24 and Prime Video in 2024. Alongside "Hazbin Hotel," she also created "Helluva Boss," another adult animated series set in the same universe that she releases independently on YouTube both series being canonically in the same time though being several years apart.

What makes Vivziepop so special is how she's managed to create this distinctly adult animation with complex characters, LGBTQ+ representation, and mature themes while maintaining complete and full creative control over her story. She basically said "I'm going to create the exact animation I want to see in the world" and SHE DID IT, with building an incredibly passionate fanbase along the way over the years as the two series grew.

That Mind-Blowing Art Style Of Hers Is Something Else

Vivziepop's art style is so unique in animation right now that it's INSTANTLY recognizable for being one of a kind of our time.

These sharp, angular character designs with exaggerated proportions that somehow feel both vintage and ultra-modern giving the feel of both old and new art styles

A color palette that SCREAMS with vibrant reds, pinks, and contrasting colors that practically burn themselves into your retinas (in the best way possible)

Incredibly fluid, theatrical animation that draws heavy inspiration from classic cartoons of the 1920s-30s while feeling totally contemporary and towards the newer generation as well

This perfect blend of cute and horrifying—characters can shift from adorable to nightmare fuel in a single frame( Especially Alastor)

Her style is like this perfect cocktail of influences: you can see traces of old-school Disney and Fleischer Studios mixed with anime dynamics, Gothic aesthetics, and underground comic vibes its honestly like a smoothie of different art styles blended into one. But what's incredible is how she's synthesized these inspirations into something that's unmistakably HERS and HERS alone making it one of a kind.

Her animation isn't just visually striking—it's purposeful. The exaggerated expressions and movements serve her storytelling brilliantly, especially when dealing with the emotional extremes her characters experience ( like the story behind stolas and blitzo). And the way she uses color to establish mood and character personality is absolutely masterful and just overall just pleasing to watch that it keeps you on your toes on what comes next.

Why Her Art Style Resonates With Me (and would probably keeps you up at night too)

There's something about Vivziepop's art that hits me just right in the soul, and I've been trying to figure out exactly why I'm so obsessed with her ever since I found her accidentally

First, there's this unapologetic INTENSITY to everything she creates. In a world that often tells us to tone ourselves down, her art screams, laughs, and cries at full volume. It's this visual permission to embrace the messy, complicated parts of ourselves that society often asks us to hide.

The contrast between cute and macabre in her work speaks to that duality we all have—the parts of ourselves that are soft and vulnerable existing alongside our darker, more complex sides. Her demons struggle with redemption, morality, and love in ways that feel shockingly human despite their monstrous appearances n relatable.

There's also something deeply liberating about her willingness to create adult animation that doesn't rely on shock value alone. Yes, there's profanity, violence, vulgar languages and adult themes, but they're in service of genuine character development and social commentary. Her work treats its audience as intelligent enough to handle complexity.

And can we talk about how she portrays LGBTQ+ characters? It is just immaculate the way she adds casual inclusion of diverse sexualities and gender expressions without making them the sole defining trait of characters feels revolutionary, especially in animation. Seeing queer characters exist as full, complex beings in her vibrant world feels like the representation we've been starving for.

Perhaps most importantly, there's an undeniable authenticity in her work. Every frame screams "this is exactly what I wanted to create" rather than something designed by committee. In an era of algorithms and focus groups, art that follows a singular, uncompromising vision feels increasingly rare and precious.

Vivziepop's animation reminds me that there's still room for the weird, the wild, and the wicked in art—that sometimes the most resonant creations are the ones that refuse to file down their sharp edges.

If you haven't fallen down the Vivziepop rabbit hole yet, prepare yourself for sleepless nights of binging "Helluva Boss" episodes and obsessively analyzing "Hazbin Hotel" frame by frame. TOH Intros Part 8: Julia Porter-Tholomule

Alrighty, our last school-age fankid (I've still got a couple college ones in the tank) is my Gustholomule kid: Julia Porter-Tholomule!

Name: Julia Porter-Tholomule (goes by Jules, Julie, JP, etc.) Age: 13 years old (early Winter birthday) Pronouns: She/Her School: Hexside (8th Grade/Year Equivalent) Tracks: Bard, Healing, Illusion, Oracle Palisman: Ascii

Biography

Julia Porter-Tholomule is a 13-year-old witch, and the daughter of Gus Porter and Matt Tholomule. She currently attends Hexside School of Magic and Demonics as a multi-track student, enrolled in the Bard, Healing, Illusion, and Oracle tracks. She's a member of Hexside's unofficial Student Council and has MCed Grom for the past 3 years.

Julia is a kid with boundless energy and curiosity, always flitting from one thing to the next. She has a dramatic flair much stronger and more disruptive than her dad Gus's was. She inherited a muted version of Matt's high ambition as well, leading her to go way over the top on everything she does. She has a slightly inflated sense of self, believing herself to be 'the shit'. She's not arrogant about it at all, and tends to view it more as a reason to build people up rather than tear them down, but she can sometimes come off as insensitive or impatient when she forgets that some people just don't really see things the same way she does.

Her self-image, dramatic flair, and overboard tendencies have gotten her into trouble plenty of times. Her most recent stunt involved a performance project for Intro to Composition in which she managed to get the entire Bard Track wrapped up in a self-aggrandizing musical number to the tune of an old Earth song. This, along with several other similar incidents, has put her on rather thin ice with Hexside's newest administration team, who have been struggling to find productive outlets for her energy. One of the more effective outlets they've found is allowing her to MC Grom. She's done so for the last three years, going all-in on production value and effects every time.

Thanks to both of her dads’ interest and obsession with the human realm, Julia is well-versed in human technology. She has her own computer that she brought home when she was 9; an old laptop that she got from her dad’s friend Luz. She mostly keeps it as a novelty, but she did do some of the writing for her musical number on it, and she’s discovered that she really loves Moonfarm Valley. Interestingly, her Palisman being named Ascii is a very strange coincidence.

Julia is a short and small-framed girl. She inherited Gus’s skin tone, eye color, and hair, but got most of her facial features and general build from Matt. She has his sharper, more angular ears, his arrow-shaped eyebrows, and his wide mouth. She likes to keep her hair around shoulder-length, though she frequently changes the way it's styled.

Julia is a pretty decent student all-around, but her best tracks are Healing and Bard. She’s ahead of most of her classmates, and has even had a couple of her teachers advising her to take advanced-grade classes like Gus did during his time at Hexside. She hasn’t taken that path quite yet, though, and has instead chosen to spread her energies around into different tracks. She picked up Oracle a year ago, even though she’s not super great at it, and has been eyeing both Construction and Abomination for a few months.

Palisman: Ascii

Julia’s Palisman, Ascii, is significantly larger than the average Palisman, sitting at almost five feet long. He has a light grey back with a cream-colored stomach, and the two sides are divided by two faded, bronze-colored lines that start at his tail and encircle his mouth. In his staff form, he wraps himself around a long, bronze-colored staff that resembles a tree branch. The top of the staff has a small, empty cup that can be detached to act as a mortar, with Ascii’s tail acting as the pestle.

Ascii is far more subdued than his owner is. Ascii is quiet and docile, with a very affable nature. His carver and previous owner, a healer from the distant past, imparted on him a natural drive to heal and nurture those around him, a drive he frequently gets to employ with Julia. He’s taken on the role of a guide for the girl, imparting on her the knowledge and trade secrets he learned from his old owner, though he never really likes to talk about the witch themself.

ahhh FINALLYYYY this took me FOREVERRRR to do!!! this idea came to me in a dream and i KNEW i had to draw it. i wanted to imitate the g3 style, but i also wanted to make aj and rd look more distinct from each other. a lot of g3 ponies look the same, so i decided right off the bat that i wanted to give them each some little features to avoid making a recolor of the same pony yknow? (this is in no way meant to disrespect the g3 art style ofc, i love the art, thats why i drew this piece SAKFJFJDS i understand why they had 2 do it that way bc yknow. thats how the toys are LMAOOOO)

more specific details include:

applejack is chunkier and has shorter legs, along with the softer features that most g3 ponies have. i also gave her ponytails as a nod to her g4 incarnation!!

rainbow dash is thinner with longer legs and slightly sharper, more angular features (like pointier ears/snout). i wanted to make her mane and tail look more like an arch, just like real rainbows!!

i studied a lot of g3 art pieces to try to get the look just right. i think i did....ok for my first time!! there r some things im not quite happy with but it was a lot of fun!! (except for the flowers. the flowers were a nightmare)

SPEAKING of the flowers, i basically just drew three in each color and then just copy pasted/resized them all LMAOOOO i later went in and added more detailed shading to each one to make them look slightly different

that bridge was actually the most fun part of the background to draw i was NOT expecting 2 like that bridge so much. please look at my bridge everypony i worked rly hard on it

RoP Teaser Trailer Breakdown!

First of all, I would like to say, I'm SO PSYCHED for this season! (Especially since we're going to get to see Elrond in action 🫠)

So, it starts off with a shot of saurbrand with Durin voicing over saying, "An evil, ancient and powerful, has returned!" Obviously, the shot is referencing Sauron and how he’s ancient, powerful, and evil, but I think that that's not what Durin is actually talking about in-universe. I think he’s actually referencing the balrog!

Honestly, given the scenes of panic and destruction in Khazad-Dûm we see later in the trailer, I think there's a good chance the season finale will deal with the fall of Khazad-Dûm at the hands of the balrog.

The next shot is this roiling mass of... things that take on a spider-like form. Obviously, that's going to be Shelob.

Next is a clip with Galadriel and Elrond, along with three elven warriors in a defensive circle. I'll be honest, I have no idea where they are or who/what they're fighting, but I am LIVING for Galadriel's braid crown. Gorgeous, practical, 10/10.

Also, we finally get to see Elrond fight! He toted that sword around all last season and didn't pull it out once! And, I love his new hair! Robert Aramayo, bless his heart, has a VERY angular face and the slicked back style was doing him no favors. It could just be messy hair in this one scene, but it's beautiful.

Next is a shot of the hands of one of the Rhûnic witches we saw last season with blood on her hands. Maybe some kind of blood sacrifice?

After that is a similarly lit shot of a temple (?) with a swarm of moths. I... have no idea what that's about, but I'm excited to find out!

Then there's a brief voice-over of either the Stranger (whom I maintain is definitely Gandalf) or maybe one of the southlanders? saying, "He worms his way inside your mind." As the scene cuts to the golden tree in Lindon as worm-like roots come out of the ground and begin to spread.

I think it looks a little like the mass that made up Shelob, but I don't really know what significance that could have? I can't imagine her crossing Middle Earth to bite the tree like Ungoliant did, but who knows. I also don't know the significance of who's speaking, but that's mostly because I can't tell who's speaking.

Then there's a quick cut to orcs and trolls on the move, presumably in Mordor.

After that, we're back in Ost-in-Edhil as Celebrimbor is watching a bright, orange light with a dark shape in the middle, like someone's coming through. It almost looks like... an eye 🤔

It's GOT to be the coming of Annatar. There's literally nothing else it could be!

Someone else, either Galadriel or Míriel, says "I think he has been here... I think he has been here all along!" Obviously, they're talking about Sauron and how he's been spying on them, making me think it's Galadriel speaking.

Then a shot of Ost-in-Edhil in confusion as Annatar stalks through the town square, a smirk on his face. This could be the beginning of the end of Ost-in-Edhil (and Celebrimbor) but I really don't think they'd do that so soon. Maybe he just got done with the Dwarf rings?

Next, there's a shot of Númenor's coastline along with the release date (August 29th!) then a shot of Galadriel and Elrond on horseback going... somewhere. There's mountains and my first thought was Númenor, but that wouldn't really fit. Maybe this is the discovery of the hidden valley?

What do we think?

Then, it's Míriel in the ocean with a giant sea-monster, possibly the one that attacked the southlanders' raft. I think she's having some sort of vision. Like a "this is the final fate of your people" sort of thing. That or Ar-Pharazon made her walk the plank lol.

Then there's shots of Disa, King Durin III, and a boulder breaking a bridge in Khazad-Dûm as someone says, "Every soul in middle earth is in danger," reinforcing my idea that we're going to see Khazad-Dûm become Moria. Also, Disa seems angry, and Durin III seems to be stuck in a cave? Coupled with the LITERAL BROKEN BRIDGE, it almost makes me think that Disa's gone full Lady MacBeth and is trying to get her husband into power.

Then a shot of Elendil in a crowd being pushed back by soldiers. Maybe something to do with the Faithful? Maybe Míriel's being executed? I have no idea.

The next shot is of Galadriel screaming which, while beautiful to hear, had no context, so I have no clue what it is. It's immediately followed by an orc licking his knife.

Next is a shot of a city (I think it's Lindon, but it could be Ost-in-Edhil or Armenelos) with the words "Darkness will bind them" immediately followed by a shot of the three elven rings on people's fingers. One is definitely Galadriel, another Gil-Galad, and I THINK the other is Celebrimbor.

Then the leaves of the great tree in Lindon turning from green to gold very quickly (I have no idea what that is. Could just be them showing off the tone?)

Durin III picks up a ring of power. I could really see this being a major point of conflict in the coming season. We already know that political tension is rising in Khazad-Dûm: Durin IV has been disinherited by his father, Disa wants Durin IV to be king, Durin III is against mining mithril while Durin IV and Disa are all for it, and presumably there's a brother in there somewhere who would very much like a chance at the throne. A ring of power in that situation would be like throwing a torch into a tinderbox!

Next, we see Arondir flipping and shooting an orc with Isildur in the background, which means we're going to see Arondir and Isildur team up! Not as cool as Elrond and Isildur would be, but there's still plenty of time for that. I think Arondir is probably trying to help him get home to Númenor.

After that is a shot of Númenor with a GIANT eagle coming in for a landing and then it switches to a shot of Ar-Pharazon drawing his sword in front of the eagle.

Y'all, this is INTERESTING! Giant eagles are signs/emissaries/agents of Manwë, the head dude of the valar! In book canon, Númenor is destroyed and Ar-Pharazon dies because he challenged the valar in his pursuit of immortality. Here, it looks like he's swearing to fight FOR the valar, like he has the backing of the gods. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THIS SCENE OR IT'S GOING TO EAT ME!!!

Next is a shot of Theo crying, probably at his mom's funeral. (Bronwyn is dead, folks. Super dead. I don't know how it happened yet, but it will probably be offscreen as I heard the actress has decided to take a break from acting. We need to be respectful of that though, even if it leads to weird narrative choices, because real world problems trump fantasy 😔)

Then, there's a short shot of Isildur looking up (🤷‍♂️) and, more importantly, a shot of flaming catapults firing on Ost-in-Edhil.

There's one of two things this could be. Either, it's Sauron's army trying to conquer the city to get to the rings, or more likely, it's elvish forces (led by Elrond?) trying to free Ost-in-Edhil from Sauron's hold and rescue Celebrimbor. If THAT’S the case, it makes more sense that the Galadriel and Elrond riding horses shot was them finding the hidden valley, AND that means we might also get to see Celebrimbanner 😈.

Next is a shot of the new Adar, who doesn't look half bad, followed Gandalf the stranger in Rhûn hitting his staff on the ground and I think creating a wind. I think we're really going to see him come into his power this season!

Then, we see Galadriel pulling back a FLAMING arrow and blowing up a regiment of orcs. Then Elrond leading a cavalry charge. I'm guessing this is all during the attack to break the siege of Ost-in-Edhil.

After that, a very disheveled looking Celebrimbor drops seven (SEVEN!!! ALMOST DEFINITELY THE DWARF RINGS) into the forge fire. If I had to guess, I would say this shot is some time during his captivity and maybe he's escaped and is trying to destroy the rings of power he knows Annatar/Sauron had a hand in.

Next, we cut to a shot of Annatar in the debris of the forge (possibly destroyed when Celebrimbor tried to destroy the rings?) surrounded by sword wielding elves. Interestingly, they do NOT look like Elrond’s forces. Instead, they look more like Celebrimbor's own workmen. We can also see Celebrimbor in this shot WITH A MISSING HAND!!! (Seriously, what is with the Tolkien stories and losing a hand? First Maedhros, then Beren (as well as someone else I can't remember right now) and now poor Celebrimbor!?)

Galadriel gasps, "He is Sauron" and Annatar turns his hands and explodes the guards away, which immediately cuts to an explosion in a mountain valley. The smoke clears to reveal what I think is going to be the foundations of Barad-Dûr.

All in all, I think we're in for a TREAT this season with lots of Elrond, lots of dwarves, and LOTS of Celebrimbor whump. Honestly, I think we may even have a shot at seeing Celebrimbanner during the season finale! I doubt we're getting the fall of Númenor yet, the the fall of Khazad-Dûm is DEFINITELY on the table. SO EXCITED!!!
