im currently active in writers forums and it's quite upsetting how every week or so there's a new discussion that amounts to "should non-native speakers be allowed to write"
because some people out there will straight up start a convo like "if you cant speak or write perfect flawless english you shouldnt write books or fanfiction or participate in any type of creative writing because its grating to read and just wrong", and then someone points out that some people have reading disabilities or aren't native speakers and may just need another correction pass by a reader.
And that first person will bounce back like "yeah but that doesnt change that its bad and grating to read and they should just not write at all/only write in their native language, because its 'destroying the english language'"
and I've never participated in these because I'd rip their heads off. English native speaking monolinguals online sure have some fucking nerve

just to add on to this, agree with what you're saying, and I find it not funny exactly that it was almost a Jenson Nico line up, when Brawn were changing to Mercedes, Jenson said he would've stayed if they could promise a car with a similar performance, but when Brawn switched over, Mercedes wanted an all German driver line up, hence why they brought Schumacher back and we had Nico/Michael for 3 years and Jenson ended up at McLaren
I do think a Jenson and Nico line up would've been interesting, I don't think Jenson would've played the sort of stress and mind games that Michael did to Nico (at least none of Jenson's teammates have ever said he was like that, that I know of)
Jenson was a dream of a teammate to have (which makes Lewis causing pretty much all the Britclaren drama all by himself very funny). As much as Jenson was prone to pranks, it was cross-grid and never singled out his teammate. He also had some absolute nightmares of teammates early on his career, including:
- Ralf Schumacher, his first teammate, a walking red flag and very big on the psychological warfare, totally unnecessary with a rookie he was greatly out-scoring.
- Jarno Trulli who was a good egg but so much favoured by Flavio Briatore that even though Jenson outperformed him, Flavio fired Button and declared Jenson “just a lazy playboy” (he was replaced by Alonso).
- Jacques Villeneuve who said he should be in a boy band, not F1, and refused to speak to him. (We can read a lot into his gentle bullying of Nico for being pretty - probably that he was projecting anxieties from when he came into F1).
These were all people that Jenson extended kindness to, despite receiving nothing in return. He eventually even won over some of them (including Villeneuve). In the same circumstances, most rookie/early career drivers (including Lewis) learn to give as good as they get but Jenson really took the Waymond Wang approach to it and used kindness as his defence. He also lent into the playboy thing and made some unfortunate comments about potential female F1 drivers he had to walk back later in his career.
But the teammate who had the most influence on Jenson’s teammate persona was probably Rubens Barrichello. Rubens was eternally polite and deferential (somehow avoiding the Brazilian drinking water) and the ultimate grid-Dad, willing to sacrifice his race to support Jenson and the team. Seriously Barrichello was grid dad to:
- the entire Brazilian mafia as we used to call them (Massa, Da Matta, Bruno Senna, Lucas Di Grassi)
- Nico Hulkenberg and Christian Klien
- Pastor Maldonado
- Jenson himself
This had the effect of turning Jenson into a pretty impressive grid-Dad to Checo and K-Mag. In fact, all of these people who had the chance to be grid Dads have been great grid Dads and even produced further grid Dads (Rubens-Felipe-Valtteri-Zhou is a chain).
He ended up being pretty guarded when Lewis was his teammate (bitch tweeted his telemetry!) and had a very much laugh it off approach to attempts at psychological warfare. There was never a chance of being a grid-Dad to Lewis who had learnt from the Alonso school of hard knocks to bite and scratch, and couldn’t identify when it wasn’t necessary.
So yeah, Jenson was basically the best teammate you could get on the grid of that era, other than maybe Heikki Kovalainen who is the kindest, most sportsmanly, lovely and calm human that motorsport has ever produced. I still remember watching him calmly extinguish his own vehicle in the tunnel in Singapore (the marshalls couldn’t get there so they passed him a fire extinguisher), waving to the fans once he was finished. Jenson might have done some gentle pretty-boy ribbing but other than that he would have been a nice guy to be paired with, for Nico or anyone.

Idk how much you care about history but I just learned this
In 1806 Napoleon incorporated Liechtenstein in the Confederation of the Rhine and made it a sovereign state. At the Vienna Congress the sovereignty of Liechtenstein was approved. Liechtenstein became a member of the German Confederation in 1815. This membership confirmed Liechtenstein's sovereignty.
And now I can't help but imagine some noble school AU or something where Liechtenstein is getting kinda pushed around by other students as "not a real noble" or whatever, only to be swept off her feet by France as he tells everyone to back off and respect her as one, and she's just there thinking "oh god, why does my face so hot and heart so fast all of a sudden"
Also uh yeah any ideas on France and Liechtenstein's relationship?
Tumblr media
SOBS THATS SO FUCKING ADORABLE also tagging @lunartexan since u have been asking for it lol
Tumblr media
Honestly i was going to draw a small comic about that scenario but i don't have too much time as i start working so ill just add things about them!!! For me FraLiech is so cute in Cardverse but i want to add a bit of Shoujo spice in it so, ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Francis is a crown Prince of Diamond, known for being this playboy lil shit who got himself to lots of problem because, well, considering he will become a King one day, he just though his freedom to fool around would end as soon as he's crowned (alas he would just say he found things boring because being melancholic seemingly would become out of character for the image he have in the public)
But despite this 'imperfect' behaviour of his, he's still adored by the peers and girls in this royal school since he's very good being this charming playful Prince that's kind.
Though it need to be known he's not really favoured by the nobility because of his 'image' since the motto of Diamond is like, "A diamond earns its sparkle from the pressure it endures" so he do got lots of whispers, gossips and the likes despite how hard he tried to be perfect. Basically this Prince always pushed to strive more than just enough because as he's going to be a King who represents the richest, flamboyant and vain Kingdom, he better be suited to carry the burden. (So ye you get why he can be a very mischievous and a huge playboy to cope)
Liech/Elise is a low born nobility who got pushed around by the high society in school. Though the school itself implemented how once students set their foot in the premise tittle should be shed, it's honestly can only be seen as suggestion often by the high rank nobility.
So one day she were bullied by her peers at the secret garden away from people to see , however, Francis just happen to be around to take a smoke (it's not allowed in the school premise, that's why he went there because nobody really go there) and helping Elise shoo'ing em away. Francis wasn't really care about Elise problem, though he do play around that he found those ladies who's bullying her were vulgar and foolish. Elise, being young and naive ofc fall for the Prince, albeit she also aware that there's no chance for them to be together because of their status. In the end though, i don't think something significant would happen between them when they were in school (at least not something to really progress their relationship romantically because at this age Francis don't really crave a serious relationship since he was aware how messy it is to pick a girl that one day would become a Queen so he pretty much just leave it his Father's vassal). Though Francis would help her around if things happen to her (Because it's would suit his 'kind and charming' image) but Francis graduate a year later and Elise stay as she's a first year. Years later Francis crowned and marrying Joan Who also used to be his personal Knight so she's also were in school. I would like to think she and Elise would have platonic friendship for a while and it's continue once Elise reach adulthood after graduating. They would have small tea parties from time to time, though Francis not often involved when the ladies have their own time. Years later, suddenly, Joan died. Struck with heavy grief, Francis mourn by himself while ignoring everything. His vassals beg for him to came out so he can quickly find a replacement for the Queen. Francis, out of spite, picking Elise, a woman with a very low status and have not much power in her family name to be his Queen.
So yeah, if im going to do RP about these two, i would probably have these as the premise lol.

Living w/ König
just something fun to get me through 9 hours of presentations hehe...I'm dying. will probably make more posts as I think of them
Making him fit no not like that these are sfw
when you first move in together your place is of course made for a normally-sized person, but König doesn't complain. He's happy to be living with you and doesn't want to ruin it
but you notice the way his shoulders slump every time he has to take a shower. He's used to it to the point where he's just accepted that this is a part of living his life
but you haven't
so you make some calls. If you're living in a house it's a bit easier. If you're living in an apartment you have to do some bullying convincing with the landlord
And when he's off on a longer assignment you bring in builders and put your plan into motion
Expanding the doorways
Bringing in the biggest mattress and bedframe you can find
And the grand finale
Redoing your bathroom with a wider, taller shower, the showerhead plenty high enough that he can stretch all he wants
And as a little treat for you, too, a massive bath tub, the kind with jets and a nice counter along one side looking out the window at a lovely view of nature
He is always sore, so the jets will be perfect for massaging his muscles
And if the tub is big enough for both of you, well, of course you'll have to join him
Sleeping together yes, just sleeping
Most nights the two of you are together you're in the same bed. You never know how long you'll get together, even if you're both deployed together, so you absorb all the affection and cuddling you can
Even if you aren't falling asleep in each other's arms, he's always touching you. Maybe a leg flung over your knees, maybe he rolls over and rests his head on your chest (it's a massive bed so he actually can do this without dangling off it or twisting weirdly), or maybe he holds your hand as he sleeps
All of this being said
You definitely each have your own bedroom
You use it less for sleeping separately, although there's no hard feelings when one of you needs a night alone
You both use it more as a private space
König especially needs to be alone with his thoughts sometimes, it's just part of who he is, and him having his little cave to retreat to has made your dynamic and communication even better than it had been before
You've both gotten pretty good at going to your separate corners and taking a breath before coming back together and talking things through
It took him awhile to figure out how to verbalize his feelings but then you suggested writing them down, and he has a stack of messy journals to word-vomit into now
He writes things out in German and then goes back through and translates the important stuff into English once he's calmed down if you can't speak German
A lot of times he will write out notes for himself to read off of while you guys are talking things through, and it really helps him to explain everything without forgetting anything important
It's also helped you understand him a lot more as the two of you learn how to navigate being around each other and taking care of all your little idiosyncrasies together
Seeing how far he's come makes you so unbelievably proud of him that you tear up a little sometimes and have to reassure him that it's nothing he said, you're just really happy he's yours

Good Girls Are Bad Girls That Haven't Been Caught - A Quil Ateara x fem!Reader Imagine
That's a small story for Quil who is always overlooked, but we stan all of the wolfpack here (almost)
Based on the song "Good Girls" (previously known as "Good Girls are Bad Girls that haven't been caught") by 5SOS
Tumblr media
She's a good girl, she's daddy's favorite
He's saved for Harvard (he knows she'll make it)
She's good at school, she's never truant
She can speak French (I think she's fluent)
Quil’s POV
(Y/N) was the perfect girl. Beautiful, confident, ambitious, probably the best student you could ever come across. She was quiet; she never got into trouble; she was always participating in extracurricular activities, and she always volunteered for every project that was happening around the school, La Push, and Forks.
She was known for being a goody-two-shoes, never going against authorities, never objecting to the teachers. She always arrived 20 minutes before the first bell, just to check her books once again, having small talks with the teachers who all seemed to adore her. She was the easiest person to get around with, always willing to help everyone, whether that was homework, advice, or money.
She was the pride of her family, the golden kid, their future. Her parents were always praising her, and always bragging to others about their daughter’s achievements. Her father wanted her to attend Harvard, being one of the prestigious colleges in the country. (Y/N) could definitely attend Harvard, having achieved perfect scores, and with a rich background in athletics, volunteering, and languages.
Apart from English, (Y/N) could speak German, Italian, Spanish, and Greek, but her favorite language was French, which she spoke fluently. She had an affinity for learning new languages and learning about different cultures. In my eyes, she was the perfect girl for me.
But that meant I could not get close to her. I could only look at her from afar. I was a good student too - probably one of the best around, but (Y/N) was the best among everyone. I had my circles and friendships, but not (Y/N)’s friends or personality. For her being the best student around, she was also extremely sociable and friendly. (Y/N) was a good girl.
Something which shocked me beyond comprehension was when she started hanging out with one of the worst guys around. Damian was probably the worst guy I had ever seen. He was a bully, a gang member, the worst guy you could ever meet. Yet, (Y/N) saw the best in him. She was always hanging around him, laughing and having genuine fun with him. She would tease him all the time, and he would go crazy for her, licking his lips and all.
I was disgusted; (Y/N) deserved someone better, someone sweet and caring to treat her like the queen she was, not someone who she should have avoided all along. And she wouldn’t see that she didn’t need Damian in her life. They weren’t really a couple, but there was definitely something going on between them, though (Y/N) would always remain the sweet, pure girl she had always been. I just wanted him to leave her alone; he wasn’t a good influence to have around, and I was worried about (Y/N) following his ways.
'Cause every night, she studies hard in her room
At least that's what her parents assume
But she sneaks out the window to meet with her boyfriend
Here's what she told me, the time that I caught her
She said to me, "Forget what you thought
'Cause good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught
So just turn around and forget what you saw
'Cause good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught"
(Y/N) lived a couple of hundred feet away from my own house. (Y/N) would never go out at night; she would never go out on the weekends. She would always spend her nights studying in her room, until late at the night. She would start early in the afternoon, have dinner in between, and then study until 1 or 2 am. (Y/N) was only focused on school, and she was aiming high.
Her parents were worried about her, sleeping late and waking up early, but she would always convince them that she was doing fine and that she had to make a few sacrifices if she wanted to get into a good college. Her parents were satisfied with her attitude, believing their daughter was a good girl who only focused on school. But, that’s what they thought. Because I knew that wasn’t true at all.
I was out late one night, patrolling around the area. I was really tempted to see how (Y/N) was doing. I imagined her focused on her books, studying under her desk lamp, writing and studying her notes, and solving complicated math problems. I couldn’t help myself, so I decided to go by her house, and look at her from afar.
Before I could even come close enough to see her through her window, I heard a small window open, and a few rattles. I hid behind a bush and looked closer, to find out it was (Y/N), leaving the house through her bedroom window. She was all dressed up, makeup on, with a few bracelets and an intoxicating perfume emitting from her body.
She turned around to look at me and then smiled and winked. Everything around me narrowed around her as if she was in the center of my new galaxy. I could not see anything but her; she was the only thing that mattered to me at that moment. It took me a few moments to realize I had imprinted on her.
When I came back from my vision, (Y/) was standing right in front of me, looking at me with worry and curiosity. “Quil? Are you okay? You zoned out for a few minutes and I got worried.”
“You… You know my name?”
She chuckled. “Of course I do, Quil. Now tell me, what are you doing here?”
“I…” I had to think about something quickly. “I was out walking. I have terrible insomnia, and walking really helps me sleep at night. Then I heard a small commotion around your house and I thought someone was trying to break in. I got scared, so I hid behind the bush.”
“Oh, okay. Don’t worry. It was just me.” She quickly took her phone out of her purse and looked at the time. “Oh, I have to go now, or I’ll be running late.”
“Wait! It is quite late. Where are you going?” I sounded, and probably also looked, worried.
“I’m going out with my boyfriend. He’s waiting for me at his house, and then we’ll go out. I don’t know where yet.” She smiled.
I was shocked. “Wait. What? Why are you going out? I thought you would be studying at this time. I… I... I don’t know what to say.” I was clueless and lost. “I thought you were supposed to be a “good girl”, you know?”
She took my hand in hers, and I could swear I felt my heart flying away. “Quil, don’t believe anything you hear. I think you should forget what you thought, ‘cause good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught. I think I may be one of these girls; being a goody-two-shoes to everyone’s eyes, but a rebel at heart. Please, do me a favor, just turn around and forget what you saw, and maybe, just maybe we could hang out a few times. You seem like a cool guy.” She smiled again and kissed my cheek lightly before walking away.
I could only stand still and watch her mesmerized, as she walked away to meet her lover, who, sadly, wasn’t me.
She's a good girl, a straight A-student
She's really into all that self-improvement
(I swear she lives in that library)
But if you ask her, she'll say, "That's where you'll find me"
But if you look then you won't find her there
She may be clever, but she just acts too square
'Cause in the back of the room where nobody looks (nobody looks)
She'll be with her boyfriend (she's not reading books)
Another day, another A for (Y/N). Just like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that. All the teachers called her a role model for everyone else, but she insisted that grades do not matter as much as character and personality do. She certainly had both in surplus, but maybe that was just the imprinting talking.
I couldn’t stop thinking about her. (Y/N) was too good for me, she was too good for everyone, and, especially, too good for Damian. Yet, she somehow could not spend a moment without him. She was with him on our lunch break, sitting on his lap and cuddling; she was with him during our study break, at the back of the library where nobody could see them, making out and cuddling.
I was so jealous of Damian for being with (Y/N) all the time; for being able to cuddle, touch, and kiss her. I wanted to be with her; to be able to do all these things with her; to show her a world she would have never imagined. I didn’t want to force her into this world, so I decided I wouldn’t tell her anything unless I had to.
The pack was always nagging and pushing me to tell her, but I wouldn’t do it. It had to be with her own conscience and her own will. If she ever felt the same way I feel for her, then she would come to me. I could only wait, hoping that she would see and would come to me.
She said to me, "Forget what you thought
'Cause good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught
So just turn around and forget what you saw
'Cause good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught
Day after day, it became harder to stay away from (Y/N). We would occasionally spend time together at school or be partnered up in projects together, but it wasn’t enough for me. It didn’t feel right to stay away from her, even if I couldn’t get close to her. She was with someone else, and, as long as she was happy, I was happy with her.
And days would go by like this: me wishing (Y/N) was mine, and (Y/N) being with someone else. Though, lately, she seemed sadder and lonelier than before, and I was wondering if Damian did anything to upset her, as she did not spend as much time with him as she did before, at least in front of others.
I was really curious to know, so when we partnered up one day for a Physics project, I gained enough courage to ask her. “Hey, (Y/N), don’t misunderstand me, but has anything happened between you and Damian? You don’t seem fine lately. Has he done anything to you?
“Quil, I...” Her mouth trembled, and her eyes started watering.
“Hey, hey! You don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t feel like saying anything. I’m really sorry for asking.” I tried to sympathize with her, caressing her hand.
“It’s not that. I do want to talk with you. It’s just… Lately, I’ve been feeling some way about someone else, and I couldn’t keep on doing this with Damian anymore. He looks like a scary guy but he’s a good person deep down. I couldn’t stay with him when I was only thinking about a different guy. It wouldn’t be fair to him, or me.”
My heart sunk. Her mind was already in someone else. “Oh, yeah. That was nice of you. So, how are you feeling after the break-up? Are you okay? Do you need some time? We can stop now with the project and you can go home if you’d like that.”
“No, no. I like it here. I like taking my mind off of everything by focusing on homework. I like spending time with you.” She smiled shyly. (Y/N) was never shy.
Something sparked in me, an unfound confidence, and I leaned in to kiss her on the lips. I thought she would pull away, but after a small shock, she kissed me back harder than I did, and caressed my cheek with her hand. After a few minutes, we pulled away to breathe.
“Just in case you haven’t realized it yet, you are the guy I’ve been constantly thinking about.” She leaned in to kiss me once again, and all I could think about was…
Good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught

Do you perhaps have any more headcanons pertaining to the reader and wolfram raising sieglinde?
of course!!
a couple of these touch on posts I’ve made about the concept, but there’s some other stuff mixed in too hehehe
I LOVE THEIR LITTLE FAMILY SO MUCH <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because she can’t walk unassisted and prefers not to use her ‘spider walker’ at night, Wolfram checks on Sieglinde periodically throughout the evening after she falls asleep. Like most children, (particularly traumatized children like her), she may occasionally have nightmares. If she does, one of two things will happen. Either Wolfram will lie down in her bed with her and you, after waking up to find him gone, will come join them… or he’ll carry her into your bed, simply stating, “Our little girl had a bad dream,” and she’ll cuddle up there with you both for the night. Either way it always makes her feel safe and loved.
Given how, er… slow Wolfram can be in preparing meals, especially in the morning, another pair of hands helping Sieglinde get ready ― get dressed, wash her face, etc. ― is appreciated. She loves it when you help her pick out clothing, mainly because you and Wolfram let her wear whatever she likes as long as she’s dressed presentably. She can even wear trousers if she wants to! Plus, you always know what looks good on her. And the time you spend doing her hair before breakfast is wonderful for bonding.
The two of you try quite hard to homeschool her, but it’s not easy to get her interested in anything which isn’t science. Or sometimes math. Thankfully, she’s good at English and grammar because of you, and she’s somewhat okay with history. She just dreads doing assignments where she can’t choose the topic. Analyzing books and mulling over fractions bore her to tears. It’s up to you to make the things she doesn’t enjoy fun for her, so she gets all the education and enrichment she needs. Of course, Wolfram tries to help where he can; he’s learned a few tricks by now!
Family outings?? Well, sort of. You go on outings to talk to the Queen, and to maybe do some business with Ciel. Oh, and Sieglinde has rather made friends with Lizzie, so she stops over there quite a bit as well. Sometimes she uses her spider walker, sometimes you or Wolfram will carry her around. The biggest problem with outings like this is that she gets self-conscious around most people, because, honestly, most people see her as ‘that weird little German girl with mechanical spider legs’. Of course, you and Wolfram have none of anyone who tries to bully or intimidate her. Not only that, there’s no question you indulge her by taking her into sweets shops and letting her just act like a child!
You’re all living in Ciel’s townhouse, so… sometimes Agni and Soma babysit. She adores them, and this way you and Wolfram can have a breather. Despite the fact that you love her very much, both of you could use a break now and again. Even better, usually you return to find Soma snoring on the couch while Sieglinde is perched on his back, fiddling with a light bulb and trying to do… something… with it… and Agni is trying to gently convince her that it’s time for bed. They try their best, but, ah… you and Wolfram will take back over now.
Are your parents/siblings still alive and you’re on good terms with them? Congratulations, Sieglinde now has grandparents and/or aunts/uncles!! And, well, also Wolfram has… new parents and siblings. Because of course they absolutely love him. If his parents were ever in his life at all, he doesn’t remember them, and the closest he had to siblings were brothers-in-arms who he wasn’t that bonded with; he’s awkward about it, but he enjoys having parental and sibling figures of his own given that he lacked them growing up. And for Sieglinde to have more family, people who can call her their granddaughter or niece? It’s just wonderful.
One day, Sieglinde will walk up to you and say, “I’ve decided I am ready for a little sister. When will you and Wolfram have a baby?” And you better hope you’re not drinking anything when it happens, because that’s an immediate choking-on-your-beverage moment. She’s just so blunt about it ― give her a baby sister! How many business days will that request take to be processed???

Why for MCU are you team not Steve? (I guess that would make you team iron man by default)
Ugh, Steve.
The MCU and the Muffin
First, to start, I'm so burnt out of the MCU I don't think I qualify for any team. I am done. Simply done. Disney keeps throwing new shows at my face? Don't care. The Black Widow Movie came out? I aggressively do not care. I haven't been invested in the MCU since... well, ever, really. I never wrote substantial fics for it and that's telling.
But really I'd say The Avengers was the last time I was anywhere near anticipatory. Now I'm just occasionally pleasantly surprised. But usually not.
As a result, it makes even discussing it hard. As I just see the term "MCU" and "Steve" and my brain says, "You can stay, but I'm leaving."
So, I'll try, anon, I'll try.
STEEEEEEEEEEEEVE
Mostly, Steve just rubs me the wrong way. Certain directors in the MCU adore Steve, it's all about Steve, and me being as contrary as I am I dislike that. I despise being pandered to and this alone has seen me hating shows, ships, you name it.
Steve is one giant pandering to me by the MCU.
He's also just boring. There's no substance to him. None. Period. I can't even find anything to comment on. There is nothing interesting going on about him. Ever.
Watching him is akin to eating cardboard. It takes a lot of effort and I'm just left with this bland, vaguely unpleasant, taste in my mouth.
Tony, at least, is interesting. He has a lot of character development throughout his different films, has very large character flaws, and is just generally engaging.
Alright, Fine, Some More Depth
I find Steve a disturbingly righteous and naive character, filled with hubris, except the MCU is too boring to ever do anything with this.
What do I mean?
We start with Steve as a strappy young lad who wants to go to war. Why? He doesn't like bullies. No, really, this is what he says to the German expatriate who ends up making him a super soldier. He's going to Nazi Germany because he doesn't like bullies.
Granted, Steve is very young, patriotic, and idealistic. But in the war murder is in his future. Steve, should he get what he wishes, won't just be putting the Nazis in timeout. He is going to kill them or be killed himself: that is war, that is what he wishes to do.
However, instead of pointing this out to Steve, the doctor is instead impressed (and increasingly desperate as the American government is insisting he pick a test subject out of people who will become monsters with this serum).
Steve is injected with the serum, the good doctor dies, and Steve... never really realizes what he's gotten himself into. He spends much of the war putting on performances, feeling very under used, until he heroically goes in and singlehandedly brings down a HYDRA base. And then he gets to play super serial soldier, leading an elite force of trained men that... never really feels like war.
My point being, yes Steve has leadership experience here, but he also doesn't. He instead has this persona, this Captain America ideal painted through propaganda, that everyone respects because it's Captain America.
This HOWLING MONKEY period of his life is so untried that we skip almost all of it (except Bucky falling off a train, sorry Bucky, see you in fifty years).
There's no hint Steve learns anything. He still thinks war is about fighting bullies, that he's better than others because he understands what "true strength is", and over time seems to come to believe he's deserving of this immense strength.
He flies into an ice cube, many decades later is opened back up, and everyone assumes he has a lot more experience than he has. He's put in charge of the Avengers squad, because of course he is, he's Captain America!
Steve, of course, doesn't question this because that's right, he is Captain America! And he proceeds to use the authority he barely has to talk down to all of his teammates (but especially Tony, god does he not like Tony's attitude).
This is all well and good but then we get to Civil War. Steve's argument is utterly ridiculous. He refuses to hold vigilante superheroes accountable because... America and Bucky? That's pretty much it. And I would understand if it was solely Ross/the American government, but this is the United Nations. And the Avengers, frankly, should have oversight. Tony might be driven by fear in the movie but he's not wrong, these guys shouldn't be running around with missiles doing whatever they please. That's a recipe for disaster and not stable.
NOT IN STEVE'S AVENGERS.
Steve then convinces half the people to his side, not because he's right, but because he's Steve. These other people have no idea what's up with Bucky (Steve doesn't either for that matter), but they go to his side because "Steve" and "Not Tony Stark". That's it, that's his selling point, and it works because he's Captain America.
And Steven never realizes this about himself, about Tony, or about the position he's in.
But... Isn't That an Interesting Character?
That would make Steve a fantastic character. The trouble is, the MCU isn't aware that's what they wrote. They adore Steve, so when he does, well, all of the above, the story makes him out to be right. Of course Steve is the leader, of course Steve was right to bail on the Avengers and get his friends put in a floating prison, of course Steve is right to sacrifice the country of Wakanda for Vision, etc.
And because the MCU completely refuses to deal with Steve's very blatant, wonderful, character flaws: I get cardboard. Chewy, chewy, cardboard.
It's delicious.
Team Iron Man Because?
9 times out of 10 I side with Tony in those films.

I don’t want to sound like I’m glorifying war in my posts about Ukraine and Russia, by the way.
In truth, I find it very hard to watch the news these days, which is why I’m always a bit behind. When they’re showing what happened in places like Bucha, I find that extremely hard to swallow. A few weeks ago, I started to cry when they showed a Ukrainian mother who lost her son, and then couldn’t bring myself to finish watching the news all day. It really gets to me. Those are war crimes, plain and simple. I feel like calling them “inhumane” is still putting it too mildly. It fills me with horror to think that there are actually people out there who are capable of such cruelty. It fills me with more hatred for Putin and the Russians responsible for all of this than I’ve ever felt before.
And I also will say that I absolutely don’t agree with the “this is only Putin’s fault and no one else’s” sentiment that I’ve been seeing a lot. Putin didn’t personally murder and rape all of those people. One dictator can’t do all of this alone unless he has supporters. This is on all Russian soldiers, on every Russian who goes to those pro-war rallies, who wears that “Z”, who doesn’t protest, and didn’t protest sooner. On everyone who let this happen.
Here in Germany, we learn from childhood that the Holocaust and World War II were everyone’s fault. It’s called “German collective guilt”, look it up. The idea is that everyone who looked away, everyone who didn’t stand up against the Nazi regime, everyone who knew but didn’t say anything, everyone who didn’t protest until it was too late - it’s all of their fault, too. Even if they personally didn’t kill anyone, it’s still their fault for enabling a facsist and antisemitic culture where something this horrible was able to happen. And after (rightfully!) having that idea of collective guilt drilled into our heads for years, we’re now supposed to absolve all Russians and say “It’s only Putin’s fault”? Not a chance.
And speaking as a child of “Russia-Germans” (German late resettlers from Russia - do your own research; I’m too tired to explain what that is every time) - I can also say from personal experience that this is NOT just Putin’s war. For years, I’ve had to watch family members of mine support Putin. For years, I’ve had to listen to family friends of ours defend Putin. For years, I’ve been called a “Russiaphobe” (lol) online by people who don’t know my background for saying that Putin’s a dictator and that many (not all, but sadly many) Russians are terrible people. When this war started, a part of me just wanted to scream I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO.
And now some of those same people are still trying to make themselves the victims. There are protests by Russian-speaking people going on here in Germany about how they’re supposedly being “discriminated against for being Russian”. And holy shit, I want to slap those people so badly. Because as someone who literally has the same /almost the same background as those people, let me tell you: BULLSHIT. Those people don’t even know what “discrimination” is. They’ve never experienced actual discrimination - as a lesbian in a Russia-influenced family, I have. I know the difference, and someone hating me for “being Russian”, which yes, has happened to me before (I’m not Russian, but most people in Germany don’t understand the difference nor do they care) isn’t anywhere close to what I’ve experienced for being gay. NOT. EVEN. CLOSE. Shut up, y’all don’t even know real discrimination. “Russiaphobia” is NOT A THING. Again, I’m saying this as someone who literally has been bullied for my “Russian” background.
Another thing I see is some former Putin-fans now backtracking and crying on the phone to my parents about how they never wanted this. And look... I do believe that. And I am glad that a literal war at least finally made those people wake up and realize they were wrong. I really am. But I also can’t quite let go of that “I told you so” grudge. Because I did. I tried. They laughed at me when I called out Putin’s homophobic laws or called him a dictator. I’m glad this is at least to far for them but... why did it take you until now? Why weren’t the concentration camps for gay men in Chechnya enough? Why wasn’t Putin making it illegal to talk positively about queer people enough? Why wasn’t Putin making domestic violence legal enough? Why wasn’t poisoning Navalny enough? Why wasn’t annexing Crimea enough? I’m glad you at least care now, but why didn’t you care sooner?
And I also think of all those times here on tumblr when I called out Russian nationalism and how mad people on here got at me. Sometimes it was dumb posts like me not wanting Polina Gagarina to win Eurovision (oops, turns out she supports Putin, who’d have thought?), sometimes it was serious stuff like the doping scandal around Kamila Valieva. But every time, without failure the angry Russians would show up on my posts and call me “Russiaphobic” (still not a real thing, also really ironic considering where my parents are literally from). I still remember that time YEARS AGO, when a Plushenko fan got mad at me for saying that Evgeni Plushenko (a famous Russian figure skater) “supports a dictator”... and now Plushenko is holding pro-war ice shows, so yeah, that aged interestingly.
And I’m tired of Russians and Russia-Germans centering themselves in all of this. Tired of other people centering us in this, too. We’re NOT the ones who need your compassion right now - Ukrainians are.
For instance, I recently talked to a colleague of mine about the war and when I mentioned that my parents were born in Russia, he said something like “Oh, then it must be so hard for you that people will now judge you for your background and assume you support Putin.” And I know he meant well when he said that, but it really couldn’t be any further from the truth. I don’t give a flying fuck what someone assumes because of my background. Among the people who know me well, I believe I’ve made my position on Putin crystal-fucking-clear over the last few years. And if someone assumes I support him or this war, that’s an assumption I can very easily correct. It’s not at all an assumption I would be offended by, because frankly - if you look at how many Russians and Russia-Germans do support Putin, it’s a fair assumption to make. (The only thing that’d bother me would be if they treated me badly without even asking what my opinion on the war is - but even then, I’ll live.)
No, the actual hard part is not knowing for sure which ones of my family members do support Putin. The hard part is not knowing which family members I’ll have to cut off. The hard part is that this isn’t even a new thought, because being gay and having a trans sister means I have already been preparing for the possibility of cutting them all off for years. The hard part is watching my parents act like they’re great people because they’re against the war - which is of course something I’m glad about, but it also doesn’t make years of homo- and transphobia go away.
And the hardest part? The hardest part is watching the news and hearing from Ukrainians about what they’re going through. Seeing and hearing about all that death, violence and destruction - that’s the hardest part and that’s where your compassion needs to go - not to Russians, not to Russia-Germans, not to me.

I Have Some Feelings
To start let me just emphasize how much I love and adore this show and always will. This was my covid show. Both of my kids loved “Lucifer” and always said I should watch so at the start of covid I binged it and when I say binged, I mean all 4 seasons in a few days and have rewatched so many times I’ve lost count. I think it is timeless, engrossing, original and all around amazing. The writing and the cast were all excellent. The writing was smart and consistently strong and that is so rare.  Funny, sad, poignant, it hit all the notes with very few plot holes or missteps. There is not one episode in the entire series that was not engaging. Even if I didn’t like an episode, it was still well done. What a rarity.
The cast is scary good. Completely underrated. Just all phenomenally talented.  I don’t remember the last time a cast was this strong.  From the core group to both reoccurring and guest stars, the cast was just fantastic.
Tom Ellis, no words.  The man deserves to choose whatever he wants to do acting wise. He should have people breaking down his door. He can truly do it all and do it all well. He took a character that if portrayed by a lesser actor could have come off as a complete asshole and made him one of the most sympathetic and loveable characters in recent history. Ellis made a crime solving devil, a promiscuous man-child that occasionally breaks into song and the evidence room into a beloved character that has become an icon.
Lauren German, WOW.  She is just so damn good. She can break your heart one second and have you laughing the next. She makes Chloe real, and people don’t realize how hard that is. Chloe is smart, kind, tough and gorgeous but she’s also an insecure dork.  She’s us and German just brings it.
DB Woodside I’ve loved since “Buffy”.  He is a phenomenal actor and who knew he could bring the laughs so well? His expressions were classic. Clueless angel indeed. Amenadiel could have been very one-dimensional but because of Woodside’s talent he became fully fleshed out and full bodied.
I have no doubt Lesley-Ann Brandt has a huge career in front of her.  She took a character that very well could have been hated, a demon and made her into one of the most human characters on the show. Kudos to her for taking a tough role and making it her own.
Kevin Alejandro is another actor I’ve loved for a long time.  He also took a character who if we’re going to be honest here did so many unlikeable things that he should have been truly despised but because of Kevin’s portrayal he was beloved. Great actor and a terrific director.
Rachael Harris IMO is the downlow MVP.  She was literally the rock and again, with a lesser actress the role could have been a throwaway. The normal human, the sounding board but Harris imbued her with so much more.  Her spit takes, sarcasm and her obvious compassion was what made Dr. Linda an unforgettable character. Once again just perfect casting.
Aimee Garcia was a great addition. She made Ella a fan fav and put so much heart, joy and sincerity into Ella never once did you doubt that she would prevail no matter what was thrown at her.  Garcia was just fantastic, and I want her skin care regime.
Scarlett Estevez pulled off the one thing I thought almost impossible.  She took the role of a young child and made it so I didn’t want to cringe. She portrayed Trixie so beautifully from day one that she was a true pleasure to watch.  Even though Trixie was super precocious Estevez never made her obnoxious. I loved Trixie and I have never said that about any child character in an adult show.  She was wonderful and has an amazing career in front of her.
That said, I’ve got some feelings now that I’ve seen the finale and have had some time to digest it all.  I love that Chloe and Lucifer had eternity and I agree that they had to be separated for Chloe’s lifetime. Didn’t like it but it’s the logical path. She’s human, he’s not. The ageing thing alone necessitated them not being together long term on earth and that’s just to start the list. They had to had to be apart for the short term to get their eternity but the duality of Lucifer's ending and Amenadiel's didn't sit right. Amenadiel as God got to have it all. His calling, his family etc. while Lucifer had to give up everything.  I also don’t buy the “If he came up from hell, he could never leave them again” defense.  I call bullshit.  Amenadiel managed, plus, missing out on the day to day is a huge sacrifice and by Lucifer missing out on the day-to-day Rory could still have had the hatred she needed to drive the story.  Popping in for birthdays, graduations, weddings, etc., the big stuff does not a father make.  Not being there for skinned knees, first heartbreaks, and all the little things a daughter needs her dad for can build up tons of resentment.  Boom, absentee father, just like his dad was. That provides all the millennial angel angst you could ask for. I have a daughter; it doesn’t take much.
The Trixie issue was huge for me. Can Chloe see her in Heaven? Will she be able to travel to Heaven and visit Trixie, Penelope, Dan, her father?  Chloe hesitated leaving Heaven in 5x16 because she couldn’t bear saying good-bye to her dad again. It seems as if Chloe sacrificed everything for Rory including Trixie. I want to preface this by saying. I liked Rory and loved the actress. I didn’t however like how it was as if she were their only child.  When Lucifer spoke of family Trixie was not mentioned. Their family day, the same thing. She didn’t need to be there, I get that the explanation regarding Rory would have been way too much to get into but just a mention of her, how awesome it would have been to share this day with her would have worked. It seemed as if Lucifer went from, “I would do anything to protect that little Urchin” to “Trixie who”. Trixie was a character that we watched grow up and she meant something to us. I hate to say this, but the writers did Trixie and the viewers dirty in this regard.
This show was built around a few premises.  Free will, honesty, redemption, sacrifice and family, both blood and made. The ending completely negated almost all of these.  Chloe and their entire family were made into the one thing Lucifer abhorred the most which are liars. Their daughter was brought up surrounded by lies. What did they tell Trixie?  The poor kid just lost her dad, and she was pissed at Lucifer when he went back to hell the first time. Did she grow up hating him because as far as she knew Lucifer left her mom again without saying good-bye and this time it was even worse because Chloe was pregnant.  I get that the actress who plays Trixie had limited availability but seriously. A quick good-bye.
“Hey Urchin, you won’t understand why for a long time, but I have to leave. You know I never lie so I can’t explain why but know that I love you and your mom and one day I hope you can forgive me.”
A 30 second scene would have worked.
As all the characters learned throughout the series, omission of the truth is just a form of lying and there are always repercussions i.e., Chloe and Father Kinley, Dan shooting Lucifer, Maze finding out about Lilith and even Ella not being told. As far as free will, both Chloe and Lucifer had their free will taken from them in the end. By Rory forcing them to abide by her wishes, their free will was forfeited. It was a huge manipulation on Rory’s part and considering how much Lucifer hated manipulations it just didn’t sit right.
Parents making huge sacrifices I get. Chloe and Lucifer sacrificed everything for their child. Unfortunately for me this sacrifice, the way it was written seemed contrived to pull out maximum and IMO unjustified angst. I love angst.  Hell, this is my favorite show.  I thrive on the angst. But as I wrote earlier, all the anger, angst and hatred towards Lucifer could have been achieved without having Lucifer completely out of the picture. I have two kids and my husband, and I have made huge life altering sacrifices for them as many parents do but being there for the day-to-day little things was what made the difference in their lives and cemented the close relationships we have with them.
“Yeah, dad you were great. Showing up for the fun stuff, always swooping in for the big finish to play the hero then ditching us when things got tough. When Grandma was dying where were you?  Nice that you showed up for the funeral but the six months leading up to it…we needed you and once again you weren’t there. When T got sick, when Jen broke my heart, blah, blah, blah…”
Even the whole Chloe dying scenario. They could have written it that rage Rory traveled minutes before Lucifer got there. Have him pop in right after Rory comes back. There were so many ways to achieve the end game they wanted other than the way they went. It seemed contrived and as if they took the easy way out to get where they needed to go. The Rory rage that was the catalyst for her traveling back in time and Lucifer finding his calling could still have been accomplished without the whole Lucifer disappearing storyline.
Now that I’ve finished my diatribe there’s a couple of additional things I would like to say.  Lucifer is and always will be one of my favorite shows of all time. There are not enough words to describe the comfort and enjoyment this show has brought me. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the producers, cast and crew. You truly created something special.
To the fandom. Please do not let a polarizing conclusion rip apart the fandom. The only other fandom I was a part of tore itself apart so badly that the FBI got involved.  Hence why I waited for 15 years to dip my toe in again. Everyone invested in this show has the right to their feelings.  Debate is fine, baiting and bullying are not. The Lucifer fandom like the show is very special. Without the fandom we wouldn’t have gotten any conclusion so don’t let opposing viewpoints tarnish what has been a magical journey.

So what are Sasha's parents like in your AU? I know they're divorced, but is at least one of them better than the other?
You'd like that, wouldn't you?
Sasha's relationship with her parents in SatF is a BIG PART of why she's this jerk and bully of a character. And I get that there's always the want/need for one parent to be better than the other.
But the relationship is... complicated. It's hard for me to say anything without ending up with spoilers so I'm just going to put what I can underneath here. So if you don't want spoilers, all you need to know is that they're neglectful but not necessarily bad people. They both love her very much.
With that out of the way, below is a bunch of background info. So get comfortable.
Tumblr media
To get into an understanding about Sasha's parents, we first need to delve into Sasha's family. She's of Germanic origins, with her grandmother being a pure descendant of the German immigrants back from before the Great War (aka WW1). Despite being a very traditional old lady, Sasha has a deep respect for her. The grandmother would then marry an American in the Midwest, more specifically a ranch owner. She would visit this ranch often during her childhood.
Sasha has two role models in her life: her grandma (who has already passed away by series present) and her uncle, the brother to her mother and current owner of the ranch. Her parents were those "aim for success" types, constantly striving for greatness and climbing the career ladder. Her father is a highly influential executive at a large company located in California, whereas her mother is a respected researcher, constantly traveling to places to do her work. Both are very busy with their lives. They are also very independent, being able to maintain a relationship even when they rarely interact. But they tend to focus too much on their individual work, heavily affecting Sasha with their lack of involvement.
Sasha's father (name not yet made up so let's call him James) is a man of words. He's very charismatic and focuses a lot on appearance. He is the current caretaker of Sasha after the divorce and cares for her deeply. Despite that, he's also a hardworking individual, staying late in his office and usually being the last one to leave. His office even has a blanket and a spare set of pajamas, should he ever need to stay overnight. Though, he does enjoy going back home and spending time with Sasha; it's just not that often. Underneath those sly words however, he's actually quite anxious, preferring to stay in his office and meet as little people as possible (said people happen to be other important people, which is why he's seen as a great man). All the clothes and makeup is there to help hide his social anxiety, like a mask he wears. Sasha's way with speech is something she learned by observing him, as well as his method of influencing others.
Meanwhile, Sasha's mother (again, no name yet so let's call her Jessie) is a researcher in the field of sociology. She's a bit messy and somewhat serious, but is caring individual, especially to Sasha. She took care of Sasha for most of her childhood, only coming back to work once James managed to land a good job in California. Like James, she's very hardworking and diligent, spending a lot of her time at the local universities or traveling elsewhere to collect data. Despite her job being to observe people and how they interact, Jessie is not a people person. She's blunt and straight to the point, and would never mince her words. People respect her work but they tend to keep professional around her. Sasha got her perceptiveness from her and inherited a few of her serious traits.
The reasons of their divorce comes in 2 flavors: their heavily career-driven mindset and the difficult circumstances regarding Sasha's birth.
At this point, we reach spoiler territory. If you want more, you'll have to ask again because it's gonna be a long one.

I think part of the reason why there’s so much discord in the MCU fandom has something to do with the varying directors for TFA, The Avengers, Winter Soldier, AOU, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame. And really, the backbone of the issue is how the different directors and how the audience interprets Steve’s character. Strap in. Because this is a long rant on a topic that normal people really don’t care about.
Joe Johnston created a Steve Rogers that was eager, begging to go to war. I absolutely adored the line in AOU when Steve says, “What kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country?” Because I feel that sums up Steve in TFA pretty well. He’s anti-bully. He wants to fight. But his whole life he’s been put down, stomped on. Steve repeatedly enlisting is both selfish and selfless. His conversation with Bucky in TFA is a great example of this. Steve says, “There are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them. That’s what you don’t understand. This isn’t about me.” And Bucky says, “Right. Because you’ve got nothing to prove.” And that’s it. Yes, Steve wants to fight because he’s always been bullied and doesn’t want anyone else to feel that way. Yes, Steve wants to fight because he wants to defend his country. But also Steve wants to fight because no one has ever given him a chance. Steve wants to fight because he wants his life to mean something. Steve wants to die in battle because he thinks it’s honorable. He wants to prove himself. Steve wants it so desperately for both selfless and selfish reasons, which is why he was so willing to take the serum despite the fact that Erskine told him about past failures. There’s even a certain selfishness to his sacrifice at the end of TFA. Many stories that involve sacrifice ride the line of selfishness and selflessness. By sacrificing himself, you could argue Steve is taking “the easy way out.” He’s distraught over Bucky’s death. He’s won the battle he’s been fighting since getting the super soldier serum. By sacrificing himself, Steve can effectively end the troubles caused by the Tesseract and leave without dealing with the consequences of his sacrifice. This point is a bit of a stretch, and not something that I personally agree with, but the thought it there.
Joss Whedon takes that selflessness and turns it into irrefutable righteousness, and it’s disgusting. Steve has a few goofy lines in The Avengers and AOU that I’ll laugh at, but ultimately, everything he does seems so out of character for him. His constant nagging and arguing with Tony is so unnecessary and doesn’t build friendship. His desire to do everything S.H.I.E.L.D. tells him to do is completely incorrect because Steve went against the military and broke the 107th out of the Hydra facility without permission and repeatedly did whatever he wanted without asking. His incessant need to have all the Avengers do as he says is totalitarian and unbearable to watch. Truthfully, this is where I think people misunderstand Steve the most because not everyone watches every solo movie. The Avengers movies are the biggies that most people won’t miss. So general audiences only see this righteous, dictator Steve Rogers and that really pisses me off.
This is one of the only times you’ll hear me praise the Russos, so get ready- Thank goodness Winter Soldier and Civil War follow Joe Johnston’s characterization of Steve. They even dig into his selfishness and rebellious streak, which I adore. Steve isn’t one to just blindly follow orders. Hello? Does “not a perfect solider but a good man” ring any bells? Perfect soldiers follow orders. Good men fight for what’s right even when the world is telling them not to. That’s who Steve Rogers is. What I adore about Winter Soldier so much is that we see Steve attempting to be this perfect soldier, but it’s just not sitting well with him. Something is fishy and weird. He talks to Peggy about her life. She says her only regret is that Steve didn’t get to live his. Steve talks to Sam about possibly getting out of government work. Sam is that representation for Steve- having a hard time finding out why he’s really in it to begin with. The entire film is about Steve going against the government, military, and S.H.I.E.L.D. with both selfish and selfless desires. He knows he needs to do something because Hydra is growing in S.H.I.E.L.D. but he also doesn’t want anything to do with it anyway, so why not tear it all down? Once Bucky is revealed as the Winter Soldier, Steve puts his life on the line to try to get him back. It’s selfish really. When Steve takes off his helmet and drops his shield, he made the decision to die because he wasn’t gonna continue to live without Bucky. Despite the fact that Steve made friends with Natasha and Sam, he didn’t care. All that mattered to him in that moment was James Bucky Barnes. This is very reminiscent of TFA when Steve breaks Bucky out of the Hydra lab. As the world’s only successful super soldier, Steve could’ve been very valuable to the American government and military. He was even doing mild good by helping sell bonds. But that didn’t matter. His country and his military was no longer priority number one. When it comes to Steve Rogers, nothing and no one means more to him than Bucky. Steve and Sam’s conversation that I previously mentioned also parallels this. After Sam lost Riley, he didn’t want to be in the military anymore. He said he felt like he was up there just to watch, nothing he could do. This is a direct parallel to how Steve feels about Bucky.
Civil War, while a trash movie, sticks with Steve’s selfish yet selfless motivations. “What if this panel sends us somewhere we don’t think we should go? What if there is somewhere we need to go and they don’t let us?” Not wanting to surrender his right to choose is Steve Rogers. He just put down S.H.I.E.L.D.- an organization that was giving him demands. Why would he sign his life away to the American government again? Corporations can be run by greed and corruption- something Steve doesn’t want the world to be full of but also something he doesn’t want his world to be ruled by. When Bucky is framed for killing King T’Chaka, Steve knows the Accords will bring Bucky in and possibly execute him. He can’t let that happen. And he asks Natasha not to get in his way because he doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt. He knows how dangerous Bucky can be, but he doesn’t want Bucky or anyone else getting hurt or in trouble due to this sticky Accords situation. Both selfish and selfless. I don’t even want to get into later in the film, but I guess I will. Guys, there’s no world, no universe, no place in time that Steve wouldn’t try to stop Zemo. Tony never even gave him the chance to explain himself. It was either, “Come with us or we fight.” Steve gathered that team together- not to fight Tony but to fight Zemo. It was never his intention to fight with Tony. He was just trying to stop Zemo. Now, when Tony learns about his parents’ death, anger is a valid emotion. Physically fighting and attacking Steve and Bucky to the point of death? Not valid or even remotely reasonable. It makes no sense as to why Tony would be that angry at Bucky- someone who was tortured and brainwashed to do what he did. Steve had his reasons for not telling Tony considering that when it comes to Steve Rogers, nothing and no one means more to him than Bucky. Of course, Steve was going to hide the truth from Tony in an effort to protect Tony, Bucky, and himself. Selfish yet selfless.
Infinity War gives us the glorious lines of “I’m not looking for forgiveness. And I’m way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender. So we’re here to fight. And if you wanna stand in our way, we’ll fight you too.” and “We don’t trade lives.” These lines beautifully sum up Steve’s rebelliousness and need to fight while also not risking others’ lives. He’ll always risk himself first. There’s not much to say about this film considering it’s mostly action and Steve shares the screen with just about every other superhero, so we’re not given a lot of time. But overall, the Russos kept that same Steve Rogers.
And then Endgame does a complete 180 and decides to serve us Joss Whedon’s Steve with a conservative, pro-military, unbelievably illogical twist. Steve’s obsession with Peggy in this film is so out of place. She would’ve died seven years prior in the MCU. Steve’s been living in the present with Natasha, Sam, Bucky, Wanda, Vision, and T’Challa. That was his family. He lost Sam, Bucky, Wanda, Vision, and T’Challa in the Infinity War. It only makes sense that he would be fighting for them in Endgame. Yet he’s not. We’re beat over the head about how much he misses Peggy and it’s so unbelievably weird. Steve is never allowed to mourn Sam and Bucky specifically despite the fact that they were his number one companions. He never mentions them. Never has a touching reunion with Bucky. Barely has any reaction to Natasha’s death. It’s disgusting honestly. This is not “I will fight to my death for the people I love” Steve Rogers. And the ending is the most pathetic of all. There’s no world, no universe, no place in time that Steve would willingly go almost a hundred years away from Bucky and Sam, somewhere he wouldn’t fight for others. “Pretending you could live without a war.” I mean, come on. He’s Steven Grant Rogers. It’s disgusting to paint him as this man who would throw away his friendships and a world that is being bullied all for some girl he kissed once and barely knew. No. No, no. Not my Steve Rogers.
I give the directors a little too much crap. I’m fully aware that a whole team of people make these movies, but you can’t deny that Steve changes from movie to movie depending on the director. Endgame is the exception in which the directors were the same, yet they diverged completely from their original interpretation of the character. I’ve heard people say that it had to be an anti-gay agenda- that ending Steve’s story with Bucky would’ve been too gay even if they weren’t romantically involved, but I still think that’s pathetic. Honestly, I would’ve rather seen Steve die than have his character trashed and pooped on like this. From a narrative perspective, what happened in Endgame is not okay. Marvel Studios’ treatment towards “sideline” characters like Natasha, Rhodey, Sam, and Bucky- particularly in Infinity War and Endgame- is not okay. Yeah, I’m aware I get too heated over this fictional universe. But the characters are the only reason I stick around. The stories are lackluster for me. I’ve never been one to watch movies for action sequences. But I’ve always been in love with Steve Rogers as a character- complicatedly riding the line of selflessness and selfishness, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to a cause and to the people he loves. When in the end that character was completely scrapped and shredded in the garbage disposal like crust on bread or the skin of an apple, I’m gonna be angry for a long time.

Hey Bree!!!
Oh... my... God (read it in Janice's voice, of course)... this is brilliant!!
In my head, there was a time where they both were trying to figure out whether their feelings were real or if everything was just a consequence of spending so much time together (nope, it's canon that Casey has a lot of doubts about herself and her abilities to be a doctor, so given the fact that she lacks of confidence, there is no way in my head that Ethan was the only one having doubts about them and their feelings for each other). So this is before Miami, somewhere around chapter 8, but before chapter 9. The interview takes place at the diagnostics team office... and Bree herself is the one in charge of asking the questions this time!
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Ethan: Please remind me why are we doing this instead of taking care of our patients...
Casey: Because you deserve to do things for fun... and our shifts ended an hour ago... now stop complaining, Bree is already here to ask us some questions...
~~*~~*~~
For Both:
Bree: When I first saw them, I thought __________
Casey: I didn't think anything... I was freaking out because the patient was dying! I was only fully aware that he was next to me when he held my hand because I was shaking. The whole situation is a little blurry in my head.
Ethan: I thought she was the only one in the room with the minimal knowledge to help me save that woman. I couldn't understand why she was just standing there instead of helping.
Bree: What is your coworker's most used swear word?
Both, in unison: fuck!
*Laughs*
Ethan: She also says "dammit" when things don't go the way she wants, but you know that she is really mad when she begins to swear in German. Or what she says is German.
Casey: An exchange student at medical school taught me a few things, so yes, it's German. He also says "Christ" and "Jesus" quite a lot. Weird for a non-religious guy, if you ask me...
Bree: Quick: What color are their eyes?
Casey: Blue
Ethan: Green
*They look in the eyes and smile to each other ... maybe longer than expected*
Bree: *thinking to herself* Why am I suddenly feeling like the third wheel here?
Bree: Three people at work your coworker hates?
Casey: Not fair! He hates everyone at work!
Ethan: I don't hate you
Casey: Now I do feel special
Ethan: You should
*Casey wide-opens her eyes and tries not to blush*
Ethan: *realizing what he just said* I... I mean... what I'm trying to say is that you're not as the other interns, so working with you is very enjoyable, even though you're still stubborn and a pain in my ass... don't let it go to your head...
Casey: Too late... I feel honored... but going back to the question, I don't think it's that hard... Dr. Cyrus, Dr. Thorne...
Ethan: *under his breath* ...assholes...
Casey: ...and even though you don't hate her as a person, you've made Dr. Emery's job a hell this year, so I'm not so sure if you actually like working with her...
Ethan: It's equally hard for me because you seem to like everyone and everyone seems to like you... but... even if you don't seem to hate them, I know at least three interns that you'd prefer not to work with: Dr. Emery, she left you dealing with your first patient by yourself and she only takes the cases that she finds interesting and challenging... Dr. Varma, she is a very good doctor, but I have no doubt that she'd throw you under the bus to win the competition... and the other one is your roommate...
Casey: Sienna? I mean... Dr. Trinh?
Ethan: No, no, the guy...
Casey: Dr. Greene?
Ethan: No, the other one...
Casey: Dr. Olsen?
Ethan: Him! I always forget his name... You both are like oil and water. The way you envision patient care is very different to his, so you don't feel comfortable working with him.
Casey: How do you know that?
Ethan: Simple observation... don't forget that I'm constantly evaluating you all.
Bree: What is your coworker’s strangest or most endearing quirk?
Casey: He pinches the bridge of his nose more times than I can count in a day.
Ethan: She unconsciously fidgets with her hands when she's nervous and she bites her lip when she's too concentrated thinking about something or when she knows she did something wrong.
Bree: If they had a crush on anyone at work, who would that be?
Ethan: Don't deny it, I've seen you with the paramedic... and the surgeon...
Casey: Your people watching abilities must be failing, Dr. Ramsey... I adore them, but they're just friends...
Ethan: I'm very convinced that they don't see you "as a friend"...
Casey: *blushing* Do you think so?
Ethan: I don't "think so", I know it
Casey: What about Dr. Emery? I might have seen things, too...
Ethan: I don't know what was I thinking when I told you we used to date...
~~*~~*~~
Never have I Ever:
Casey: Yay! Bring the drinks!
Ethan: Rookie, we're at a hospital.
Casey: Who said anything about alcohol? I was thinking about the coffee...
Ethan: *Pinching the bridge of his nose* Interns...
Bree: come into work hungover
*They both drink coffee*
Casey: How many times?
Ethan: Once, in my intern year... I learned my lesson the hard way... what about you?
Casey: Same...
Ethan: So, here is the deal... you don't tell my secret and I don't tell yours...
Casey: Deal!
Bree: had a fistfight
*They both drink coffee*
Ethan: *surprised* You?!
Casey: It wasn't a fistfight, but I might have punched a girl back in high school... she was bullying me... I tried talking to her, but apparently she didn't get the message... there is a part of me that regrets it, but there is also a part of me that tells me I did the right thing.
Ethan: Did she keep bullying you after that?
Casey: Nope
Ethan: Then you did the right thing, Rookie
Casey: *smiling* What about you?
Ethan: Same, actually... never been on a fight, but I punched an ass once
Casey: *laughing* Do you expect me to believe that?
Ethan: What?
Casey: None of what you said! There is no way that you punched a person just once...
Bree: been kicked out of a bar
*Casey drinks coffee*
Ethan: Again?
Casey: One of my friends fell asleep at the bar...
Ethan: No comments...
Bree: gotten a tattoo
*None of them drink coffee*
Casey: ...nope...
Ethan: ...not my type of thing...
Bree: broken someone’s heart
*None of them drink coffee*
Casey: Not that I know...
Ethan: I have no idea...
Casey: Come on... I'm sure you have... look at that face!
*Casey points at Ethan's face*
*Ethan drinks coffee*
Ethan: Maybe in my teen years...
Casey: I knew it!
Bree: been in love
*None of them drink coffee*
Casey: I thought I had, but I've been thinking a lot about it lately... and I'd say no.
Ethan: Intimate feelings are just neurochemical responses, I don't even think that "being in love" is a thing.
~~*~~*~~
For Casey (Ethan is not there)
Bree: For this part of the interview, I want you to know that your answers will remain confidential... everything will stay between us.
Casey: Okay...
Bree: Where do you see him in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)
Casey: This is Ethan Ramsey we're talking about. He could do whatever he wants to and he'll succeed. He's driven and a perfectionist, so he'll always find a way to achieve his goals. I don't see him leaving Edenbrook, he would have left forever ago if he had wanted, so I guess he feels comfortable here. An admin? I don't think so, his passion is working with patients. But you never know.
Bree: What about his personal life?
Casey: I just want him to be happy. He has a tough exterior and I know he seems to be an ass at first, but he's one of the most caring people I've met. And even though I don't know what exactly happened, after you get to know him, you can tell he's gone through a lot, so he deserves the best in life.
Bree: What do you find the most impressive about him?
Casey: The most logical answer would be his mind. He is a brilliant doctor. But above all, he is an amazing human being. He has morals, he is noble and he'll always go the extra mile for the people he cares, in his very Ethan Ramsey's way that is. Most of the time, he is not conscious of what a good guy he is.
Bree: Last thing he texted you?
Casey: His address... we are treating a patient who asked us to keep things private, so there are some things about this case we can't discuss at the hospital.
Bree: If he asked you out on a date, what would you say?
Casey: He won't know these answers, right?
Bree: Nope.
Casey: Pinky promise?
Bree: Pinky promise
Casey: *blushing* Okay, so... thinking about this as a very hypothetical situation where he asks me out... because we know that's not going to happen because he is my boss and I'm an intern... not that you can't do it, but it just wouldn't be okay... I think I'd say yes. I mean... look at him! He is incredibly handsome and he could have any woman he wanted! Just add his mind to the mixture and you have the full package... yes, he is the type of person that I'd want to get to know better.
Bree: *smiling* Thank you, Dr. Valentine!
~~*~~*~~
For Ethan (Casey is not there)
Bree: Okay, Dr. Ramsey, for this part of the interview, I want you to know that your answers will remain confidential... everything will stay between us.
Ethan: This is scary...
Bree: Where do you see her in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)
Ethan: She'll take over the world by storm. I know she is supposed to be at Edenbrook for three years, but if she wants to stay and I have to do it, I will fight every person on the board to retain her here, losing her as an attending would be an irreparable loss for this hospital. But she'll always shine, wherever she decides to go after her residency.
Bree: What about her personal life?
Ethan: I don't care about what my coworkers do outside the hospital, so I don't think it's correct for me to talk about it. But of course I want her to be happy, she is a good person, so she deserves the best... I really hope that she manages to find the balance between her personal life and her professional development... *shows some sadness in his eyes* ...being a doctor is not easy.
Bree: What specifically do you find attractive about her?
Ethan: *coughs* I don't know if it's appropriate to answer that, she is my intern after all.
Bree: She did answer...
Ethan: *visibly uncomfortable* Did she? Of course she did... she is brutally honest... and she is the best secret keeper I've ever known... she is also gentle, caring and an amazing doctor... and her eyes and her smile say a lot... *realizing that he's telling more than he's actually willing to say* next question?
Bree: Last thing she texted you?
Ethan: That she was coming late to the place we had agreed to meet because she had a last minute problem on her shift.
Bree: If she asked you out on a date, how would you respond?
Ethan: I assume she answered this one, too...
*Bree smiles and nods at him*
Ethan: *blushing and visibly uncomfortable* Okay, so... I'm going to give you two answers. As a doctor, I would have to decline her invitation. Not only we are colleagues, I'm also her boss. My mission as her boss is to push her to be the best doctor she can be, she has the potential for it, I can see it. Also, she is participating on a competition to earn a spot in my team. So any type of relationship outside the work between us not only is inappropriate, it's unfair for the rest of the interns. As a man... you promise me that this conversation stays between us?
Bree: Yes
Ethan: Then... as a man... not only she is a beautiful woman, she is also smart and caring... she is incredible, and I don't understand how in the world she's been single for so long. No one would dare to say "no" to her.
Bree: Thanks a lot for your time, Dr. Ramsey...
*Bree starts to leave the room, but she suddenly turns back*
Bree: Dr. Ramsey, can I give you one piece of advise?
Ethan: I don't think I need it, but go ahead, Ms. Bree...
Bree: You should ask her out...

Hey I saw that you do matchups and maybe can I get one for slashers?
I'm a Chubby German girl with naturally brown hair but I dyed them recently black, my hair is little bit above the shoulder, I have blue/gray eyes and I'm 5'5.I’m pansexuel.
My chub is mostly on my thighs, belly, Arms and I have a little double chin.
I do Make-up but not much, only Eyeshadow(mostly red, purple or grey) eyeliner, Mascara and not to reddish lipstick.
I suffer from social anxiety disorder and because if that I'm always afraid that I being judged in the public by strangers for something and i'm generally afraid speaking to people I don't know. Or when an embarrassing situation for me happens it could be that I get a panick attack.
But still sometimes I’m acting like I don’t have my social anxiety, In these moments I’m completely feisty and don’t try to hide away.
I also have a hard time speaking English, ok I can speak English it’s just it’s little harder for me than understanding because my native language is German, and I mostly learned english through reading and that's why I don't really now how to pronounce words right.
I like to play videogames, anime, horror movies/games, draw and I love musicals.
I dislike being bullied, children, my body and face mostly. My body because of my overweight and face just because I think I'm not attractive.
One of my main hobbies is shooting Air rifle. I'm and few friends are also in a club where we go every week and shot. I'm pretty good with my aim.
I my favorite music genre is rock and metal, my favorite band are Slipknot, Hollywood Undead and Motionless in white.
I love to wear jeans and oversized hoodies.
Don’t worry, I also saw the other little snippet you sent in! Hope you like it

Vincent Sinclair
You would never have to worry about dealing with people you don’t know in his safe and secluded town. On the rare occasion, you may have a little run in with one of the victims but one to the twins will quickly step in and uhm… handle them. So you wouldn’t have to worry. Unlike his twin, Vincent would eventually trust you enough to leave so that you could go visit friends and family members. If you’re feeling up to it you can even go with Lester to visit the next town over. Bo may try to object to you leaving, saying that it gives you a chance to tell the police the truth about Ambrose but don’t worry Vincent will deal with his twin.
The two of you would also have a few things in common. Vincent most definitely listens to all kinds of rock/metal, although he does still have a soft spot for classical music. It helps him focus while he works. He probably has a bunch of old band t-shirts and hoodies that he would give you to wear. Although you’ll have to save the hoodies for winter since summers in Louisiana can be brutal.
Would love to watch you draw as well. He loves art, and oil paintings were his favorite before his family pressured him into doing sculptures like his mom. Vincent would love to show you all kinds of different mediums and encourages you to use the supplies he has lying around. He can always send one of his brothers to go get more if y’all ever run out.
Respects your insecurities and can relate. Seeing as half of his face is just some serious scarring he knows what it’s like to be insecure. He would be patient, waiting for you to become comfortable around him and respecting any boundaries you set. Personally he thinks you’re adorable and is ecstatic when you open up more around him.
Doesn’t mind if you can’t speak English fluently. He can’t really talk without it being painful so he writes down most of what he wants to say anyways. Although he does find it endearing when you confidently say a word wrong. Maybe if you just say it like you’re right and everyone else is wrong neither of his brothers will question it. Bo would 100% use stupid southern slang that you don’t understand.
Also enjoys watching you do your makeup even though you don’t wear much. It takes some steady hands to make eyeliner look good and he’s amazed by how quickly you can make identical points.
If you ever do have a panic attack Vincent would more than likely know how to handle the situation. After all he is the closest thing the town has to a doctor. Listens to you as well and will remember anything you may have previously said about what helps you with anxiety and antic attacks.

i loved the sick!child headcanons! may I ask you to explain further the situation, where the child (in first time!) decides to fake their illness to skip the studies and stay at home all alone (to play games or smth, cuz school is boring)
maybe they secretly tried to trick a thermometer and warm it up in hot water, but they had no clue how to do it right, so it became pretty obvious for parent that the child is indeed faking (like it showed more than 44 °C or 111.2 °F, which is certainly death)
how would (single) dad!allies&axis react?
Heheheheh I was hoping someone would ask this! I'm also going to do do this a bit different because I feel like the different kids are gonna try different ways to fake being sick lol
Single Dad Allies and Axis Children Fake Being Sick!
England is a bit more strict with his child. Especially because his kid tried to use a spell book to fake being sick. Accept now everything the kid eats seems to not want to stay down. And it also tastes like vinegar. In other words the kid freaked out and ran to England to apologize. England himself was more concerned about his kid thinking it was okay to use his spell book! After his kid was cured of his illness, he gave his child a rather harsh lecture about using his stuff. But when his kid started to cry he immediately softened, and he asked why they did it. When they tell him he is more than willing to forgive them, but sadly it didn't save them from having their TV privileges taken away. So long it's not something like bulling a little tough love was needed. And even though there was a punishment, england made sure his child had plenty to do. It quickly became a father child bonding time. Now if it was because of too much stress or bullying, he's taking matters in his own hand. Because no one is allowed to push around his kid and get away with it. Curses may or may not have been involved.
Allies:
America's kid is 100% gonna be trying some classic stuff. The kid took chalk, and rubbed it on his face, and then left his thermometer under hot running water. The only issue is when America came around to check his temperature, he felt the kids forehead first. Needless to say, when the chalk rubbed off on America's hand, things got dramatic real quick. At first he was mad at the kid, but took this opportunity to prank his child. So he screeched about his kids skin is crumbling, and pretended to pass out. After the kid seemed to start actually panic, America felt bad and opted for just talking about why they faked being sick. If it was to just skip school, American might get worried, and might consider actually grounding his child. But if it's because the kids nervous for whatever reason, American is going to do his best to support his child, and get them back on their feet again.
France is a gentle and patient man. So when he catches his child using his make up to give themselves a fake red nose and cheeks he was a bit concerned. He first thought it was because he spoils his child, but when he learns it was due to stress or being picked on he becomes extremely protective. He won't go as far as cursing or fighting but he's gonna be pretty verbally persuasive. However he's going to question his parenting skills if his kid seems to just be lazy. If the kids just being lazy, he will call out for help. He has a really hard time disciplining his kid. He's not use to having to be that harsh. Things only seem to turn around if the child realizes how stressed france gets.
China is 100% the type of parent to immediately pull the "have I not taught you better" card to make their child guilty. Not something he likes to do, but he didn't really consider that his child might be struggling. I mean, it really started to hit him when his kid starts to distance themselves like Japan did. That's when he started to ask how his kids been feeling at school. By the way, china's kid didn't really bother fake being sick, because they were already sick of whatever was going on at school. They did consider faking a high temp but even the kid knows that wasn't going to fool his dad. So he just sat in his room as silent as possible, playing video games. China went to check why his kids door was closed when it usually wasn't, and he just wanted to make sure everything was ok. But the world better be prepared of his kid is getting bullied. China will have that shut down so quickly it's not even funny. Even if it meant switching schools. He's really do anything for his kid, and he's trying his best.
Russia is a bit of a hit or miss. His relationship with his kid is pretty interesting. His kid is his pride and joy so when he watches his child shoving his face in the snow like a maniac, he becomes really concerned. When he figures out they're trying to avoid school by making themselves sick, he gets even more concerned. He really dislikes it when people don't get along (or disagree with him) and he takes it personally. Russia will try to do things the legal way, but if he doesn't get where he wants to be as quick as he wants, his kid might be the one pulling Russia away by his scarf. But if his kid just wants a day off from school he's the coolest about it. But will scold his kid for trying to make themselves sick. He'll also take no pity if his child actually gets sick from whitewashing themselves (whitewashing as in shoving one's face in snow, not the other thing).
Canada is a really good dad, so it kind of hurt when his child pretends to not want pancakes, and complains about a stomachache. The kid immediately regrets it though, and the both of them talk it out. Canada is also pretty okay if the kid just wants a day off, but they're not allowed to watch TV or play games. Especially after the stunt they just pulled. But if it's because of bullies, this will be the first time the kid sees their dad actually mad. Canada can understand not being seen, but bullies are another story. He might be unable to defend himself against America, but he's not gonna let his kid deal with something like that! Though his ego deflates when the school office doesn't recognize him. Next best thing is martial art classes and hopes his kid doesn't get into any fights (unless it was in "self defense").
Germany is another strict dad. But his lecture is straight to the point, then he asks them why. Especially now that there's a thermometer stuck in a hot potato. Which Germany had to try his hardest not to laugh at, because silly antics like that tickle his side,as they say. Germany will have zero tolerance for being lazy, but if it's stress or bully related he may or may not have suggested that his kid stands up for themselves. After all one should only be pushed to go so far, and if some idiot is pushing around a german kid (adopted or not) then that bully has a death wish. So yeah. Needless to say after the child's first brawl (and a week of detention) no one is gonna bother them unwarranted.
Japan is such a cool level headed dad, but also kind of knows better then to let his child shrug of his duties. The thing is, Japan's kid has never been sick before, so they thought sucking on a lollipop to make their tongue blue counted as being sick. Nice try though. Japan shrugged it off and they both had a calming talk over some tea. Kid just wanted to stay home and play games? Okay! But you're restricted to only an hour of play time. Bullies? Japan isn't as good on the subject and will let the school handle it. But if that doesn't work he's gonna go out of his comfort zone and meet up with the bullies parents himself. And if that doesn't work cops may or may not get involved.
Italy might not notice at first that his kid wasn't supposed to be home... Not until Germany came over to pick Italy up and he asked. Then Italy tried his little best to seem like a mature adult. But then he saw his kid laughing and having fun. He had to ask Germany for help in other words. Once he got done talking with his kid about why they weren't at school he was honestly at a loss. Especially if they were being bullied. Italy was so use to giving the white flag he never considered how it would affect his child. Italy got pretty depressed over it since he doesn't want his kid to be pushed around their whole life. So it very quickly became a two person goal. Now both italy and his child are practicing to stand up for themselves (possibly making Germany shed a tear or two). However if the kid is being lazy and just doesn't want to go, Germany is going to have to intervene and talk to them both about the importance of school.

Decebal Avram Chirilă Headcanons
Tumblr media
Authors Note: I did some Headcanons for my Romania Original Characters and used a lot of history references to depict his character. I think it turned out to be good, but I am very certain. Also, I have no grudge against other countries and such. This is strictly for my character. I mean; just because you create a character that kills that doesn’t mean you support real life murder or you kill yourself. Good, now that we made that clear. ENJOY!
Rebel with a cause; Outlaw by heart
Decebal is someone that both stands out and can blend in, which is a paradox. He stands out mostly because of his very tall form and handsome eccentric features; basically, when he enters a room he lights it up with his attitude. The blend in part is mostly after the big entrance in a room. He is multilingual and can fake accents, which confuses people. For example, he went to Italy multiple times and the local ones there thought at first he was a foreigner, until Decebal put on the Italian accent, speaking it fluently; the locals were confused. Is he Italian? Doesn't look like it.
He doesn't like uncultured people. He is a man who loves to learn about other countries' histories and culture, to broaden his horizons in this aspect. Knowledge is the second most valuable treasure along with Freedom. He is happy to explain culture and information misunderstandings about his country. 'No, dragă. Romanian isn't a Slavic language. It's a Latin language.' He had to explain this way too many times.
History has put a great impact on Decebal; he loves and hates it at the same time. He loves it because you get valuable lessons out of it; for example, in November 1942 Soviet forces launched a counteroffensive against the Germans arrayed at Stalingrad in mid-November 1942. They quickly encircled an entire German army, more than 220,000 soldiers. In February 1943, after months of fierce fighting and heavy casualties, the surviving German forces—only about 91,000 soldiers—surrendered. How did this happen? Stalingrad wasn't an important target, but Hitler wanted to destroy it mostly because of its name that comes from Stalin.... In conclusion, PRIDE destroyed them.
Decebal is anxious around Russians, although he does visit the country, mostly because of Ukraine and Belarus. Decebal is anxious around Russian's because of their history. One issue is that prior to World War I, the Romanians sent their gold reserves to Russia for safekeeping but the Russians did not return the gold after the war. Take it like this; Romania was an ally with Germany and Russia. The German's when they went to brothels, they brought flowers and chocolate, while the Russian beat and raped them. The Romanian women covered themselves with charcoal to make themselves ugly and unattractive to the Russians. Now, Decebal doesn't judge because of your nationality, but if you do prove you are like that, well.... Tough luck. Russia is a nation with power or strength as its national idea and they have repeatedly shown that they do not care about ideals like “legality” or “legitimacy” but respect force and military power only. This trait does not make you popular among your neighbors. Instead, you´re seen as an aggressive jackass who abuses and bullies others.
There are also many reasons why Decebal has anxiety towards Russians, all because of history. Romanians were forced to learn Russian. Romanians who are older still, almost universally, will tell you that they know one phrase in Russian: "Дайте часы!" ("Give me a watch!") Because that's what the Soviet liberating soldiers told every Romanian as they liberated them of their wrist watches (and anything else they fancied) when WW2 ended. Among other things that the Russians liberated from Romanians? The entire Romanian national treasure. Oh, and Moldova. Decebal has Moldovian blood running through his veins. Basically, Romania trusted Russia with its national treasure, Russia being an ally.
Decebal, if he is your ally, won't ever leave you on the battlefield, he is a 'go all the way or die' type. He's tired of how cowardice has affected his country and himself, so he is willing to fight till death. If you have strong beliefs and are passionate about something he will support them. Think of him as a shield of steel.
He hates the dictator-like attitude; he had to endure a lot of that shit and he is in no mood to listen to someone that thinks they're the big bad one just because they induce fear and brutality like an uneducated mindless jackass. Seriously, don't try to impose him with that kind of attitude because at some point his rage will come undone. There's a Romanian saying 'Mi-sa umplut paharul', which basically means that he won't take your shit anymore. Decebal is as scary as he is friendly. You don't wanna see this guy get into that mood. When he gets angry, which rarely happens, there's a cold wind that hits the nape of your neck, a dead silence that makes you wonder what will happen and a shadow casts his face, his almost white eyes illuminating under that shadow. Short story.... If you're the unlucky soul that has angered him, your body will be turned into shish kebab.... very tiny pieces and he will do that oh so slowly.
Getting over these dark vibes, Decebal is a music lover, one of the many things that keep his grin on and his eyes sparkling with life. He has an mp3 player with earphones in the pocket of his jacket and loves to listen to it during the most normal and abnormal times. He will listen to music at night while sitting on the roof of a house/building or..... He will fight with the earphones on and music blasting. He sings, and he is pretty good at it.
Decebal has so many faces that it's hard to really put a label on him. Some see him as a very cultured gentleman with a charismatic personality that brightens every room he enters. Then there are the ones that describe him as a hooligan, a punk, a very vulgar and blunt person who has no shame and mercy. He is really just a way too honest misunderstood guy with a vertebral column that cannot be bend.
He is a guy that appreciates the little things life has to offer. Life during Romanian communism really imprinted on his life. Give him a little piece of bread and he will be grateful to you. The food ration during that time was harsh; no more than half a loaf of bread, not too much meat, or sugar, and so on. Food is a luxury in Decebal's eyes.
Decebal is more used to the night than day, mostly because all his life he spend it in darkness. He spent months in underground jails without seeing the light of the day, losing track of time. Plus the communist government cut off electricity from 6:00 - 8:00 pm each night across the country to preserve energy. He sees in darkness like a cat and his ears are very sensitive.
Decebal loves his home country very much because he knows how much potential this little country has. Romania is Europe’s richest country in gold resources, Romania boasts the world’s largest administrative building, The largest population of brown bears in Europe lives in Romania, The Statue of Decebalus in Orsova is Europe’s largest rock sculpture, The only gold museum in Europe is found in Romania and also Romania has one of the happiest cemeteries on Earth, a reason for why Decebal makes jokes even in the face of death. On each grave there, is written dark humor poetry. Here's an example:
Under this heavy cross
Lies my poor mother in-law
Three more days should she have lived
I would lie, and she would read (this cross).
You, who here are passing by
Not to wake her up please try
Cause’ if she comes back home
She’ll criticise me more.
But I will surely behave
So she’ll not return from grave.
Stay here, my dear mother in-law!

Nancy Drew: Generation two
Here are my mad ramblings about the children the crew have and how the group all fits together. It is very long so I won't clog up your dash with it. Its all under the cut.
Nancy and Ace's children
Nancy and Ace go on to have three children. Ace spends most of the children's childhood as a stay at home dad and freelance hacker. Nancy continues to work as Carson's private detective.

Cheeky and loves to answer back to her parents
Wants to work for the FBI when she is older

- Lucy Celia
Nancy and Ace's youngest (five years younger than Tommy) and youngest of the entire group
There was a rumour that her middle name was going to be Florence which confused Ace because they had agreed to get Ryan pick the middle name
Would have been called Ryan Owen if she was a boy
Platanchors with Anna (see Bess' children)
Often left out of mysteries by her siblings (for her own safety)
Often is the one who rats to the parents about any mysteries the new generation is involved in
Loves books, always at the library and will read anything

Is a massive history nerd so is occasionally dragged into mysteries so the others can use her historical knowledge
Nick and George's children:
Nick and George get married first but are hesitant to have children as they don't know how long George will be there. Eventually they decide to have children and have faith they will fix George's condition. They manage to fix it shortly before Mei is born.

Nick and George's second child
Was given the middle name Odette and George came to be very grateful for Odette and her decision to let George have a life with Nick. She decides it is a good way to remember her
Katy's best friend
Often at odds with Alex's protectiveness
Tough love to the extreme
Also very protective of the younger kids in her own way

Bess's children:
Bess ends up falling in love with a personal assistant Carson hires when he starts handling big cases again. They marry and consider using a surrogate before deciding to instead adopt as neither thinks blood matters all that much when it comes to family.

Random assorted facts:
They regularly all go on group holidays. They hire out an eight roomed villa and spend a week or two relaxing. Rooms go as follows: Nick and George; Nancy and Ace; Bess and her partner; Katy; Mei; Alex; Tommy and Oscar; Lucy and Anna
The children always knew about their parents being involved in crime fighting but not about the supernatural. Nick and George told their children after it became clear Mei was somewhat psychic. Nancy and Ace told their children after Tommy was almost killed by a Lamia. Bess told hers after Lucy let it slip to Anna and the two started investigating
Carson at one point considers setting what times Ace and Bess can call by his office as they show up and immediately distract both his investigator and his personal assistant. His plans are stopped when Nancy announces she is pregnant and Carson is grateful for Ace showing up to distract her so she doesn't work too hard
Ryan was the go to baby sitter when the kids were growing up but he had to cap it at four children as any more brought chaos. Charlie and Rebecca became the overflow babysitters
Tommy is the most kidnapped of all the children as he is the one who is most obviously Nancy and Ace's child but also the one who blunders in without thinking up a plan. Oscar, by association, is second. Mei is third. Least kidnapped is Alex.
They all hang out together as a group and generally act like siblings. Bess, Nancy and Ace's children are often mistaken all for one big family, especially when they all treat Carson like their grandfather
Katy is viewed as the leader of the group and the one who comes up with all the plans, not just when it comes to detective work but also meeting up as a group and doing group presents/activities
On account of Katy failing her driving test, Alex was the only one who could drive for a while and there were always squabbles over who got to ride in the car. Tommy and Oscar were often booted out in favour of their little sisters and asked to walk. Tommy didn't mind, Oscar wasn't a fan.
