#also nami is a lesbian. can't have it any other way

How do you feel about people who judge one pieces worthiness to be watched by the fact that all the women have big tits? Some people literally refuse to watch it for that reason alone and I think that's..kind of sad? Like I understand where they are coming from to an extent. (I must admit when I first watched, i thought it was very unnecessary) but over time I've actually grown to not mind/even like it LOL because I realized that it literally doesn't take away from anything at all. Unlike other anime. Which tends to take characters out of their own characterization just to give a boob to face gag or panty shot. But one piece doesn't do that?? And I was honestly kind of shocked. (I mean besides nami seeing ussop again after the time skip, but I thought that was fucking wholesome as hell) I would do the same thing to ussop LOL i say this as a fellow lesbian with big tits (like nami) who also wants to walk around half naked but can't because people are scared of the titty 😔
One Piece's style is so interesting because Toei do amp it up, but when you read the manga...Oda's style is like, ridiculous, but his women really do NOT look that bad. Like take this cover for example
Tumblr media
Yes the waists are tiny and some of the boobies are boobying but is it...really THAT ridiculous looking??? I don't think there's anything bad about it at all apart from the fact the bodies are just the same, but it doesn't feel hyper sexual in any extreme way. While I do wish there was variety, the style doesn't make me jerk back in disgust.
Of course there are some panels where he DOES go a bit crazy with it, but it's nothing compared to what Toei does sometimes. But, as you said, Toei's fanservice is very minimal. We don't get out of place, weird panty shots or anything - at most we just get like...underboob LMAO.
Maybe I'm just super used to the style of One Piece now, as you also are, anon, but I do think Toei's ridiculous proportions is one of the reasons One Piece has SUCH a bad rep with it's women on a visual level. Because another example is Viola and this famous scene:
Tumblr media
Like ??? Viola looks FINE in the manga, the proportions are whacky but not grotesque. Unlike the Toei version...which is where I can see why people judge watching it on the style alone LMAO

i would care if you talked about luffy's issues please talk please tell me all your takes, genuinely (< anon who enjoys your takes)
I am so thankful you asked me this because Luffy is genuinely one of my favorite characters of all time, especially when it comes to shonen protagonists. I'm always saying I don't like shonens (says the one that watches a lot of shonens) but that's mainly because the main characters never feel... Well-written enough for me to like them. But, well, One Piece is different. With all characters, really. It's one of the first shonens I watch that I genuinely love and enjoy because of the characters (shout out to Mob Psycho 100 being one of my favorite animes of all time too because of that same reason).
Luffy is a very complex character and I think that's why he gets mischaracterized most of the time when it comes to the fandom. Some people make him too dumb. Others make him too childish. Others make him way darker and more depressed than he truly is. And I'd say that's weird, having in mind how much the show talks about Luffy and is focused on Luffy's POV, but I kind of understand because people aren't used to characters that are both optimistic and realistic at the same time. Most of the time people consider an optimistic character to be completely idealistic (a good example here is Uta. She is idealistic because she's been sheltered for so long and thinks something as complex as the corruption in the world can be solved with a few songs and love) and refuse to acknowledge the fact that somebody with hopes and dreams can also understand (first-hand, even) the suffering within the world. People like extremes. They like to make both Law and Zoro extremely edgy. They like to babify Sanji and Koby. They forget about Nami's character depth to make her only "the mean lesbian" of the group (that term makes me so fucking furious you don't even know). Etc. Etc. Etc. The thing is: Luffy has layers. His personality varies. He's optimistic. He's realistic. He's stupid. He's emotionally intelligent. He's impulsive. He cares about the safety of the people around him. He's careless. He feels guilt. He's confident. He's so damn insecure. He's playful. He's the most serious character too. Etc. Etc. Etc.
What I want to say with all of this is that Luffy, despite being always perceived as this childish, dumb, and careless character within the fandom, has so much depth and trauma he deals with every fucking day. I once saw somebody saying Luffy is "not smart enough to understand the feeling of sadness" and I started laughing because what the fuck does that even mean. And... Is that person watching the same thing as me? Because the guy has suffered the injustice of the world so many times and so many losses that I can't even count them.
Basically: People portray Luffy as if he hadn't gone through any type of trauma when OP has shown countless times that he has been through a lot. A fucking lot. Perhaps it's the fact that he's the one hiding it all the time in the show, always replacing sadness with the need to be stronger so he doesn't feel like that ever again (aka protecting everyone so he doesn't lose anybody again. And not even in a selfish way to not be alone, although we could say that he does feel like that to some extent. But because his loved ones do not deserve to disappear or die in those ways and he feels guilty whenever it happens because every time, he says it's because he wasn't strong enough to protect them) and that's why most people don't realize how much pain he has gone through. But that's not a very valid argument because we have a lot of arcs that prove it otherwise (Sabaody, Marineford, Film Red, Wano...). So, yeah, I guess people just don't know how to read.
Starting through chronological order, I want to talk about his abandonment issues and savior complex that always seem to go hand in hand.
Luffy doesn't like to be alone. He's a very empathetic and extroverted person. He doesn't like to be bored, always loving the company of somebody else. But, sadly, he has always been kind of alone? People come and go for him all the time, and you can't tell me that doesn't affect him psychologically. He's 7 when he meets Uta and Shanks and the kid has never been more excited! That's when his dream of being a pirate begins and it's the first time he has a friend. A real friend, not just random animals he manages to find or older people that sometimes take care of him. Luffy gets bored easily, so of course, Shanks and Uta, being something new, make his life brighter. With dreams and new experiences and hope for a newer, better life outside his village. And then Uta and Shanks have to go, of course, and he stays all alone again. From what we've seen, the only thing Luffy did when they weren't around was just... Waiting for them to come back to him. That's it. Luffy's joy basically comes from being with people, and especially when he's fixated on somebody in particular, he doesn't let them go. Then they come back... But Uta is not with them anymore. That's Luffy's first heartbreak, in my opinion. It's when he decides that he has to be stronger. He loved Uta so damn much. She meant the world to him. And suddenly she isn't there, giving him no time to say goodbye, and... He only has Shanks. But Shanks refuses to tell him the truth about what happened with her. So here you go! It's the first time Luffy loses somebody this dear to him and the first time Shanks betrays him enough for him to get angry at his hero. He ends up accepting it, of course, but not because he has moved on, but because both Uta and Shanks told him to be stronger. More mature. And he forces himself to grow up faster because he wants something. He wants to know where his friend is, and if Shanks refuses to tell him because he's just a kid, then he'll just have to grow up and become stronger. To become a pirate and to keep the promise he made with Uta. The movies aren't canon so I just keep thinking about Luffy wondering where Uta is, and it breaks my heart every time.
Then Ace and Sabo appear in his life and... They are literally everything to him. I like Garp. He did what he could do. Kind of. But he leaves Luffy on his own with Ace under the care of some bandits (Dadan we love you, queen). So he can't really blame Luffy for the way he turned out to be, honestly. The thing is: Ace and Sabo are, again, something new to Luffy. They are not just friends. They are his brothers, now. We don't talk enough about Luffy's maturity and respect for other people's dreams even when he's just a kid. Luffy literally was kidnapped and beaten up and he didn't dare to say a word about Ace and Sabo's treasure because he respected their dream. He's loyal and understands other people's feelings and hopes perfectly. His empathy and emotional intelligence are just perfect. Then, well, you all know the story, but these two become the most important thing in Luffy's life, not only because they are his brothers, but because they are the representation of their dreams and future. And then it crashes into a million fucking pieces because of Celestial Dragons and classism and rich people quite literally saying "We are burning down the poor because they don't deserve to live! Woohoo!". And it's Luffy's first time realizing that the world is unfair and fucked up and that there are people that believe to be superior to others, a thing that Luffy fights against all the time.
So, Luffy learns that the world is extremely fucked up at a very young age. He has first-hand contact with the abuse rich people inflict on others, in every way. He suffers from the torture that is fighting for your life in the world of pirating and thieves when he's not even a pirate yet. He's just a kid. What the fuck. And then he loses Sabo. His older brother literally is killed by a celestial dragon and he can't do anything about it. He can only cry, of course, he's just a kid. What is he going to do? So he decides to become stronger. Because he feels weak in the hands of what is the injustice of the world. He feels trapped by that injustice, in my opinion, and wanting to be stronger is just the path to freedom. Because freedom means being able to save the people he cares about.
And here's the thing: Luffy's need to become stronger always comes from the guilt he feels after losing somebody, blaming himself even though he literally could have done nothing at the time to save Uta or Sabo. He has a severe savior complex, not to feel better about himself (although you could say that it would certainly fix his fear of being weak) but to not lose anybody else. For some reason he always feels responsible for the faith of the people he loves, he's constantly putting others first and sacrificing himself and then feeling guilty and weak when he can't save them when it wasn't even in his hands to save them in the first place.
Kid Luffy goes through a ton of stuff in his early years and the fear of being alone... Of losing somebody he cares about... It haunts him. He sees Shanks and piracy as the meaning of freedom and strength. It's just that simple for him: If he becomes a pirate, he'll be strong. If he's strong, he'll be free. If he's free, he'll never lose anybody again.
And yet, even if he's confident he'll manage to do this... He's still a kid. He's still a little brother. Ace's little brother. He depends on Ace, too, because that's the one person he has left. Ace promises him he won't die because he's just as confident, and says this as if Luffy was stupid for thinking something could happen to him. Not to get too into Ace's character right now, but the fact that he's constantly wondering if he should be alive to then realize Luffy needs him to stay alive... Is so damn beautiful.
And then he literally dies in front of Luffy. Protecting Luffy. And Oh, boy if that doesn't kill him... But that comes after Sabaody! After losing literally all of his crew! God, stop hurting this guy already for fuck's sake-
Long story short, Luffy manages to get a family. Not a crew. A family. He's not alone anymore, and he proves constantly that he won't let any of them go or die on him the way it happened with Uta and Sabo.
Water 7 is... Rough for Luffy, to say the least. Because it's the first time he sees everything he has built crumbling down. Robin is taken by the Marines. Usopp wants to leave the crew because he doesn't feel like he fits in, even though Luffy knows he is perfect for the family (Usopp just can't believe him because, you know, insecurities suck). And he has to learn how to be a captain. A true captain. He has to make the harsh decision of fighting his best friend and letting him go (his worst fucking fear) at the age of 17 because he's the captain. He has to be mature. And strong. And he definitely doesn't feel like those now. Not when Robin is also on her way to be executed.
Usopp is leaving. Robin might die. And it's just like Uta and Sabo all over again.
So, basically, Luffy grows up too fast. He grows up too fast, with the fear of abandonment and being weak, and the weight of being the captain of a whole crew resting on his shoulders. Besides, he fights against the world government for Robin because he refuses to let her die thinking she doesn't deserve/want to live, and it reminds me a lot of Ace's story. Ace doesn't think he deserves to live but then stays because he realizes that Luffy loves him and needs him. Robin, thanks to Luffy, realizes that she wants to live and that she has a new family to fight for.
Nobody dies and Usopp comes back this time, so everything ends up turning out fine after all! Yay!
Then Sabaody happens and I swear my guy can't have a fucking break.
Who has suffered more, Jesus Christ or Monkey D. Luffy from Sabaody to Marineford? I think we already know the answer.
He loses all of his crew. All at once. His worst fucking fear. They vanish right in front of his eyes and he can't do anything. He feels weak. He's shattered. Completely broken. But he's optimistic, still, because he believes in his crew and he knows they'll find a way to be together again! They've ben through a lot together, and they can find each other in a few days in Sabaody again. It's fine. But he has to delay it, of course, because his other biggest fucking fear is happening right now: Ace might die. His older brother might die.
So if you mix the trauma that caused him to have abandonment issues and a savior complex with the fact that Ace is the only sibling he has left and he is completely alone because his crew isn't by his side anymore... You get the most heartbreaking arc of the show! Awesome.
He does everything he can to save Ace. Ace complains about it, begging him to stay away from danger. And he refuses because he's his brother. He has to fight for him. And he does. And Ace dies anyway. Ace dies protecting him, too, and the hope that was left within him dies completely at that moment. Everything is shattered. His whole world is crumbling down. And I think that Luffy dies too at that moment.
For Luffy, losing Ace is not like losing a limb. Losing Ace is losing his everything. Ace meant the world to him. He was the representation of their dreams and hopes and past and future. He was the only person who knew Sabo like the back of his hand, too. And now Luffy is the only one carrying their souls. All alone.
That's probably Luffy's rock bottom. He doesn't think he deserves to be a pirate (or alive, either, but I don't want to get too deep into his suicidal thoughts I definitely think are a real thing because then this becomes too dark. But yeah. I think he does think about that too). He doesn't think he's strong enough. And he's completely broken.
There's this line from Fleabag that I absolutely adore: "I don't know what to do with it." / "With what?" / "With all the love I have for her. I don't know where to put it now."
Because Ace is gone. He's completely gone. And all the love Luffy has for him turns into grief and he doesn't know what to do anymore if Ace's soul isn't in the world to look after him. He doesn't know what to do if all the love and feelings he has for his brother go to waste. And it's his fault. Because he wasn't strong enough to protect him. Because he wasn't able to protect himself, Ace having to sacrifice himself for him. (And we know he feels guilty about this because he tells Sabo the second they meet again. He apologizes for not protecting Ace. He feels guilty about what happened still. And Sabo is just glad Luffy is okay because he knows his brothers too well to know already what happened).
Then our beloved Jinbe comes along (I love you. Please adopt me) and, following that quote of Fleabag: "I'll take it. No, I'm serious. It sounds lovely. I'll have it. You have to give it to me." / "Okay." / "It's got to go somewhere."
Jinbe reminds Luffy that he still has his crew. That he still has people who need him alive. People that love him and care for him. That he can't be weak if he has helped so many people already. That they're willing to take both the love and pain Ace makes him feel. And it's such a great character development for Luffy... It makes me go insane. He remembers his crew one by one and realizes that he's not alone anymore. That he has to be stronger for them and for Ace. And for Uta. And Sabo. Jinbe is there with him when the others couldn't, and it has nothing to do with Luffy's issues but I just want to mention how much I love Jinbe for this.
But he still feels the need to be stronger and the fear of losing his crew and the people he loves still haunts him. He tells the straw hats to meet after 2 years (that's a long fucking time. Like. Longer than the time they've spent together. Imagine the loyalty, damn). And it's... It's so beautifully written. The 3D2Y scene is one of my favorites because it shows the loyalty and love they have for each other, and how Luffy is willing to become stronger for the people he loves and the ones he has lost along the way. I literally have the tattoo. I am obsessed with the whole concept.
As I said, Luffy's abandonment issues and the fact that he wants to become stronger to never lose anybody again (Savior complex much?) still remain even after his character development. Because that's not something you get rid of. That's just how he is. And I think that, as long as he is with the straw hats, it won't be a problem.
Also I wanted to mention his reunion with Sabo! The guilt he feels for losing Ace? The way he clings onto his older brother as if they were going to take Sabo away from him? They're extremely codependent and I am here for it, honestly. Sabo would die for Luffy and Luffy would kill him if he did that. Also, I don't know where the fuck Sabo is now because I'm only watching Wano but I swear to God if something happens to him I will murder somebody with my bare hands. :)
Oh! And then it comes my favorite arc of all the show: Whole Cake Island (to the surprise of literally no one!). Luffy, in the beginning, is extremely optimistic when it comes to rescuing Sanji. He's simple like that. "If he doesn't want to get married, we rescue him. If he wants to get married, he just brings his wife with us!". And if Sanji didn't want to come back to them (truly not wanting to) he would accept it. But Sanji wants to. Luffy knows Sanji wants to go back to the Sunny with them. He knows Sanji isn't being true to himself. And God, he's desperate. Because Sanji is stubborn and his self-sacrificing and deprecating thoughts are even stronger than Luffy's, and he won't give up until Luffy lets him go. But Luffy doesn't want to fight him, he just wants his cook back. Because he knows that, no matter how much harm he does to him, Sanji is only doing it to himself (one of my favorite quotes from OP). So, Luffy goes again through the desperation of not losing a crewmate, but losing one of his wings. Without Sanji, Luffy can't become the king of the pirates. He's willing to die from starvation for him. Are you- Are you all aware that he almost fucking dies from starvation? I don't think we talk about that enough because what the actual fuck. There's this thing they tell Luffy (I don't remember exactly when or the exact phrasing) about him wanting Sanji back out of selfishness and not because of Sanji's well-being and... I partially agree? Don't get me wrong, Luffy does everything here for Sanji because he knows Sanji is suffering and lying to himself. But Luffy is selfish, too. Luffy doesn't want Sanji to go away because he loves him. That's his cook. He doesn't want to lose anybody else, even less knowing that they're going to be unhappy. That's kind of for me the confirmation of Luffy's abandonment issues. Like- He does everything for his crew, of course, but he's so scared of losing them. Then Sanji comes back to them, of course, and they have their own Pride and Prejudice moment. Not even Jane Austen can write shit like this.
I kind of want to talk about Wano but I haven't finished it yet (I'm like, on episode 1056) but I would like to mention how beautiful it is for Luffy to carry Ace's soul and promises like that. And also the responsibility he carries during the whole arc to save Wano? That's so- It's so fucked up. He's such a good leader and captain and everything I said in this post and all the things he does in Wano show that he will become the king of the pirates. I love him so damn much. I can't even write it down properly.
Anyway, summarizing everything: Luffy has a lot of abandonment issues and a savior complex that becomes unhealthy to the point of sacrificing himself and always carrying the burdens of everyone else. Because he fears he might lose his loved ones if he isn't strong enough. So. You know. It would be great if people stopped saying he's just childish and fun and that he doesn't have any character depth because he's probably the most complex shonen protagonist I've ever seen! He has suffered so damn much it hurts! Live Laugh Love Luffy! <3

favorite sapphic ships (can be from any media), go‼️‼️
Happy to do my part during Lesbian Visibility Week 🫡 (No order except for the last one being my fave)
1. Clarke/Lexa (The 100) - Unfortunately a victim of bury yours gays but first time for me seeing a Sapphic ship and I was like "girls....kissing girls?! Interesting this means nothing to me." (<- liar)
2. Emma/Regina (Once Upon a Time) - Same as before, just one of the earliest f/f ships for me
3. Korra/Asami (TLOK) - Didn't get why this was canon when I first watched it (I had yet to have some Realizations lmao), rewatched it at some point and was like Oh. oooohhhhh
4. Nobara/Maki (JJK) - Nobara is the lesbian of all time omg....the way she talks about Maki and appreciates her SO much. Maki so clearly appreciating her company and her support (but also maybe doesn't even know how much Nobara is so Ready to Fight anyone). They keep getting put on dates in official art....I know what they are....
5. Nami/Vivi (One Piece) - It has been...twenty one years (of irl time) since these two were separated...when they're reunited (which seems like it could hopefully be soon) it's gonna be the biggest Yuri event in the world (to me). LOVE them so much the way they looked out for each other throughout everything and Vivi recognizing Nami's strengths and Nami even though she's scared of fighting getting hurt because she loves Vivi SO much. Girls of all time.
6. Ymir/Historia (AOT) - I've had my issues with AOT so I don't end up talking about it a lot, but this is hands down the best ship. Historia was my fave character and they were IT to each other and the final letter Ymir sends to her is top five most devastating moments in the whole series. Love some tragic lesbians.
7. Hinako/Asashi (Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon) - Read a lot of published yuri at one point and this one was a standout. Hinako struggles with comphet, anxiety, trying to meet people's expectations of her, and is also good ace rep! The two of them start out as friends and Hinako coming to accept herself is sooo good, probably some of the best canon rep I've read (need an anime for this asap)
8. Rhaenicent (HOTD) - After Game of Thrones bombed so spectacularly at the end I thought I would not like HOTD, but they brought me back on board with the toxic lesbians. Literally inseparable from each other at the start and the one person that they trust, and it just devolves as EVERYONE around them fucks them over in a way where they end up blaming the other and are bitter and hostile about it, but even still after everything you can tell there's some love that never went away truly? Insane.
9. Pharah/Mercy (Overwatch) - ...Exposing myself as an overwatch fan....But these two have some of the gayest voicelines in the entire game (Pharah is my main so I would know lmao. I'm also automatically gay for any Mercy that pocket heals/buffs me ajssllflglh). Fly through the skies together and protect each other...HEAVY flirting while they're at it...Mercy is like the one person to know about Pharah's mommy issues....Yeah I like them lmao.
10. Utena/Anthy (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - Woooaaahhhh who saw this one coming as my fave sapphic ship....everyone? Ok. Anyways ship of all time to me. It's healthy. It's toxic. It's doomed. It's saved. It's canon. I can't even really put into words in one short paragraph why they work so well, but them and their relationship are the heart of RGU. When they get to the point where Utena realizes that what Anthy doesn't need is a prince to save her, rather that Anthy needs her own agency, and Anthy is FINALLY able to leave her abusive situation through that agency, and be able to find and love Utena with full trust. The queer and feminist themes of RGU really just make it unlike any other ship that I've seen.

I know I've complained about this before but it's so hard to find LuffyxNami things that aren't CisHeteroified beyond all recognition. Like no no no you do not get it. It's like that post that's like "some mf ships are like that woman is a lesbian but that man is a woman so it works out" except 10000x more genderweird and acearo spec and also poly because it's not just about them. They're just my two favorites and of course Luffy's relationships with everyone are always the most interesting, and I care about women the most always. Nami is everythingggggg.
That's why I didn't even ship tag that last reblog because I don't want anyone to read it and think I mean a hegemonic-ideal het ship that does not exist in my mind at all. Doing that to them changes both their characters and their relationship completely. I understand why a lot of queer readers wouldn't even think of them together. The thing is I just can only take so much yaoi in one boat. I NEED IT TO BE ABOUT A WOMAN SOMETIMES. I LOVE WOMEN. And I just think Nami's relationship with Luffy is the most dramatically interesting.
I think it's just different! It's not hard to understand why anyone would love Nami, but it is a little mystifying why Luffy gets so immediately attached to her. She is not nice to him. She doesn't have a moment that proves her to be "a good guy" like Zoro and Sanji and Usopp all do. She gets mad at him and tells him off a lot. He admires her intelligence, and her abilities, and he thinks she's funny. He believes she's good without any proof, and a lot to the contrary.
He understands her feelings, he picks up that something bad happened to her because of pirates right away. In typical fashion he doesn't set out to prove himself to her, he knows he's not going to change her opinion on pirates, and doesn't want to. He does want to be liked by her though, and picks up whatever scrap she throws over to him.
I think about that moment where she's like, "I'll work with you again if you get the map of the grand line, good luck", and he's like "wow thanks!" It's funny and it's weird. Like he's so happy such a capable seafarer would consider working with him again, and would wish him luck getting there. Combined with how much he looks for her approval later it's just like. I can't help contrasting with Zolu, how the two of them just instantly fit. How the thing Luffy admires about Zoro is also what he prides himself on, how he delights in fighting next to an equal he can trust. With Nami he does not have an ounce of the skills that he admires in her. A lot of the time he doesn't understand her or what she's saying, only that she's very smart and also right.
Obviously Luffy doesn't get intimidated but I think he's proud of himself for winning her friendship in particular. It just comes across that way. Meanwhile, it took Luffy a lot to prove to Nami that he was trustworthy and worth following. There was a post going around about how that's Nami's thematic role on the crew, the first one who he earned the trust of, the first and forever faithful in his ability to win. Her presence is proof that he's worthy.
Obviously he doesn't see it that way, but I do think there is that undercurrent in their dynamic, of a lot of effort given to someone who isn't easily pleased but already loves him too. There's just a kind of subtle aloofness that Nami has with Luffy because she doesn't show her affection in the same predictable ways as the others, doesn't fight next to him with a smile or laugh at his dangerous antics or feed him his favorite food or geek out together over something silly. She's just a lot harder than the others, honestly because she's not sympathetic to men! She's been through a lot! The loving thing she does is be there. The trusting thing she does is yell at him and bicker. She didn't get to be loud and express her anger before. Now she does, because she trusts them. It's so fucking cool and subtle and special and I'm crazy about it.
Like it's because she's a woman that it's like this- it's because of the sexism she's suffered and the cruel world of powerful callous men that she's scraped and gritted her teeth and fought tooth and nail to survive all on her own in.
It's because of that her trust was so hard to win it's because of that she shows that trust and her affection in subtle ways it's because of that their relationship is so interesting. There's so much more to her but it shapes her and it's so compelling.
I wish the queer fans who care about her cared about her with Luffy because it's not just another het ship you can follow their queer coding here too their queerness is not incompatible it's unique and interesting it's nonbinary dyke4fag it's acearospec queerplatonic undefined closeness it's a mutual importance to each other that defies all roles and expectations IT TOTALLY DOES NOT EXIST IN CANON SO WE CAN HAVE FUN WITH OUR OWN VERSION. STRAIGHT PEOPLE DO NOT OWN LUNAMI. CIS PEOPLE DON'T EITHER. THEY'RE MINE ACTUALLY I JUST PICKED THEM UP AND PUT THEM IN MY POCKET AND BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS I WILL BE SEVERAL STATES AWAY.

Keep rereading that romance in OP post 'cause honestly it has me thinking about the current options for endgame partnerships.
I put Kaya and Usopp as the most obvious 'cause it literally is. I mean hell we just saw Kaya and a panel of Usopp's 3 veggie friends with them literally pointing out how lucky he is to have a woman like her waiting for him to come home and heal any of his wounds...like please. I miss the days when it was shown how often he thought about her too, making snow statues of her, drawing her, stuff like that.
It's also been heavily implied there WILL be more between Sanji and Pudding. I don't know to what degree Oda will go with them but at some point she has to return his memory of her kissing him, and his reaction to that 'cause hello, that's the first woman to fully and completely return his affection. I know Viola seemed close but I just don't think they got enough in Dressrosa to go further and not much else to imply they'll have more chances to see each other. Pudding has so much set-up to stay a part of Sanji's story past everything that happened in WCI, I firmly believe he'll be the one to save her once the Straw Hat's finally face the Blackbeard pirates.
Less certain but there's also Hiyori and Zoro. I'm not sold on it just yet 'cause Zoro did not care when they parted. I know a lot of people see him and Tashigi and like...eh. All Zoro sees when he's forced to interact with her is Kuina, and Zoro wasn't in love with Kuina, she's his rival and his ''goal''. In order for Tashigi and Zoro to work even remotely that would have to be addressed in full. Semi-likely he ends the series with no partnership though.
I think Chopper's only option is Milky LOL (reindeer mink from Zou) 'cause like...yeah, he can't and doesn't find any appeal in human women, and he's been thoroughly and completely rejected by actual reindeer. He's not even physically or mentally compatible with full animal reindeer anymore thanks to his DF. He could talk with them sure, but would he find a life of a common animal fulfilling if he were try and return to it for partnership? Highly doubtful. Otherwise, Chopper endgame has no love interest, 'cause he's baby (I know he's canonically 16 but shut up I can't accept it).
Two characters in the SHs that are obviously not getting any endgame relationships are Brook and Jinbe, one's literally dead and the other is already well into his adult life having had no prior showcases of being in or pursuing a partnership. It'd be kinda weird to shove one in for Jinbe at this stage in the series or going forward when we're in the final saga with few arcs left.
Luffy remains our aroace king and I hope he stays that way but IF Oda were to pull a Dragon Ball on us then he's done enough work for Hancock to make her the most obvious choice. She loves him, and he at least respects her, which isn't love but who knows. Luffy is not incapable of deep love as clearly shown in this series, it's just not been of the romantic kind and he feels no sexual attraction toward anyone. But honesty if Luffy ends the series with no clear partner I'll cry tears of joy he avoided the shounen curse of getting a bad haircut before being married off with kids for the inevitable sequel.
Nami is a lesbian hasn't been presented with a clear partnership either. So many people ship her with 1 or more men of the crew but aside from that she hasn't interacted enough with any characters that make it clear if she has an endgame partnership. However, there is still time I think...'cause we still don't have all of Nami's backstory. We still know nothing about Oykot and Bellemere finding Nojiko and Nami in those ruins, the fact she was smiling/laughing through the despair (very D. coded) and so that leaves it open for more story for her, where a potential love interest could still be introduced. Otherwise, she may also end the series not paired up.
I'd also throw Robin and Franky in the group of 'no ending partnerships' but for different reasons. Franky because he, like Jinbe, has gone most of his life not being presented as pursuing or caring about that. Franky already has a family, the Franky family, consisting of all his brothers and sisters. He's content with his ragtag-found family back in Water 7, he's always been happy with that dynamic since he was raised that same way by Tom with Kokoro (who were not a couple, just business partners/friends) and Iceburg. If Franky having a love interest was something Oda cared about he'd have sprinkled in any kind of element of interest in his backstory, or showcased him having any type of reaction in the current story from his introduction. But there's nothing, the only reaction of excitement Franky ever showcases is toward cool-ass tech and Vegapunk LOL
Robin because she's only just now fully coming into her own thanks directly to the Straw Hats. Robin's been isolated and burned by people her whole life, it took the events of Enies Lobby for her to FINALLY accept that her crew loves her unconditionally. For her to go from only accepting and loving them thanks to a lot of work to falling for some other person she's met or yet to meet would be interesting to say the least. She'd have to have a good relationship with that person already to some degree to open up to them. Which is why there are people who are open to the idea of her being with Law (they also have several similarities akin to Pudding and Sanji, plus all the time he was with them through multiple arcs has made the crew comfortable with him, including scenes with them specifically). But otherwise, I don't see her in a relationship either in the end of the series.
I guess in conclusion I can only really see 3, maybe 4 out of the 10 current SHs being in a relationship by the time OP ends. I can also see an ending where none of them are ever officially paired off but instead it's left open on where everyone went after completing their dreams/goals and parting ways as the Straw Hats. I'll be interested in seeing what Oda does with them compared to how he left Roger's crew.

Sorry one more thing I had been so suck on. Is that I was once just scrolling thourgh twitter and saw someone say that one Piece fans need to stop making up a buch of stuff up. What they meant was that they need to stop saying for exempel that nami is lebisan. And pointing out that if you say that nami is not lebisan and is not in love with vivi. And that you have to accept that nami will never be lebisan. And that one piece isnt about lqbtq. Honestly ir sounds like this person is saying that it is a buch of bullshit.
Tbh don't know what to say. Iam just really unsure.
I know I sound so rude., but iam new to the one piece fandom. And seeing different sides of the fanfom.
(Btw detalte if too much)
Yeah they are saying a lot of bullshits
And don't worry for real, when i started one piece i was so confused about everything and take a little to i understand better all
So, you have to know that the biggest part of the fandom are a bunch of nerd creepy guys that like to watch porn and don't have a girlfriend
So yeah they say a lot of stupid things, and they get angry with lgbts hcs because one piece is not LGBT and bla bla
And yeah, one piece is not an LGBT work, they are not wrong
One piece is a work about a pirate world, and in this word exist lgbts people, and not only they
One piece talks about a lot of subjects, talk about racism, about sexism, about lgbts, transphobia, corrupt government, abuse of power, slavery
And you know why? Because one piece is a world like any other world, all worlds have this, our world have all these subjects
One piece is a work to criticize all of this, is the way of Oda shows how unfair is our world
In fact, we can't know if Nami is a lesbian or if she likes Vivis, but what difference that makes?
Everyone when watching a show likes to make couples and stuff, if you aren't killing someone because they disagree with you there's nothing wrong with that!
These people only get angry because is an LGBT couple, if you say that Hancock and Luffy will get together they will not complain, BECAUSE THEY ARE ONLY HOMOPHOBIC
So babe, like whatever couple you want, of course not a pedo one hahaha, but if you like Nami and vivi don't worry about, if you like zoro and sanji it's okay
There's nothing wrong with that and you are totally free to say about them and show that you like them
You gonna find a lot of people that don't like that, but you also will find people that like, you only have to find your safe place and everything will be fine

For the scene between Law and robin in the anime, someone in the anime team clearly ships them thus why they made it like that. While on the other hand, in the manga, Law clearly told robin his name because he thought she was the archaeologist and must have known the meaning(he didn’t even have to ask the question) she knew that’s why he is even telling her because he was expecting an answer. Thus why she answers:”sorry I don’t have an answer”. Nothing more really.
I rewatched the anime scene. (I kept the last part because I think it is interesting)
And I hope this one is what you mean, because beside everything "That scene between Law and Robin" is too vague. There are multiple by now (still not as many as Frobin...).
I can't find anything romantic about this scene (again, doesn't mean it's not because every interaction can be seen as romantic or platonic depending on what the person watching/reading prefers), either in Manga and Anime. And I agree that Law searched out Robin because if anyone knows about it, it's her.
I wrote it here too, just when this ask also arrived.
Anon: If Oda shipped Law and Robin then he could have sexualized those scenes between them easily in the manga doesn’t take too much space either. But he didn’t. Someone on the anime team clearly ships them thus why they even made that scene the way they made it. In the past, the anime also shipped Law x Nami, so it’s just preference. And in colorspreads, most of the time, Oda mostly put Law and Nami close to each and Robin would be on the opposite side somewhere.
there wouldn't even be a need to 'sexualise' anything. Having them sit closer to each other would have been enough already or maybe changing some of the expressions.
I want to put out there that the Anime-Team is big. Chances are high that all kinds of shippers sit there. But they will also change from time to time so they can put in their preferences so that will also change. We can't forget that we also had some Anime-exclusive FRobin scenes!
Anon: Continued… Oda surely knows his manga is the only canon material, unless stated otherwise. In the one piece party volumes, the author(Oda’s ex assistant) he seems to ship Law x Nami. There’s a scene where Nami is stroking Law’s goatee to calm him by saying:” Don’t get overly excited my cutie” and Law in response blushes towards her. That series’ storyboard and dialogue is approved by Oda by the way. And yes, nami is not a lesbian for those questioning. Oda approved that she finds law attractive
an you tell me the volume and the chapter? I do have the mangas (1-5) but they are almost impossible to find online. And I don't have the time to go through them all. Because all I found in Volume two was Nami making constanly fun of Law.
Anon: Continued… apparently Oda’s wife has a crush on Law and she used to cosplay as Nami. Apparently in Dressrosa, Mingo was supposed to take Nami ** **** ***. But Law was supposed to save her and dying in the process and also his death giving Luffy the motivation to beat Mingo. Oda’s wife convinced him not to kill Law. They ditched that scenario. If you go by his wife’s love for Law, she might ship LawxNami since she played nami in a play or something. Depends who her fav female character is.
Dude. What?!
Can you please give me a source for that? Because I can't imagine that to be true. Because Oda seems to believe that he is writing a story for teenage boys. 13 year old is the age he focuses on, which had been one of the longest time a reason why he said that he won't add any romance to the Strawhats.
And that what you wrote there, what Doffy was supposed to do to Nami so just Law can try to safe her for Luffy to become enraged about his death?
None of this makes even sense. Shipping aside, why should Luffy care more for Law than for Nami? No... someone lays a hand on one of his crewmates and it's open season.
We saw that happening with Enel and with Shiki.
Luffy likes Law as a friend and but Nami is nakama!
As for Odas wife: She used to be a Nami cosplayer and while I think she might have enought leverage to tell Oda not to kill off fan-favorites that is also something an editor would probably trying to tell him.
Sorry, please provide a souce to this because that sounds really wrong, weird and fucked up.
You can also submit entries: https://frobin.tumblr.com/submit
It's not as anonymous as the asks though.

Fuck it, here are my One Piece sexuality headcanons, in order of how strongly I feel about them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edit: I'm gonna explained my reasons cos I just want to talk about them.
Luffy is aroace because he just want friends and adventure. I can't see him really holding anyone's hand or kissing anyone past the forehead for goodnight kisses.
Crocodile is FTM transgender because we all know what Iva was talking about, come on.
Franky is FtM transgender, Pansexual aromatic. Now, Franky is a hard one to explain but I'll try. FtM guys love dad shirts and also once we get the type of body we want, we tend to show it off, hence the need to be so bare, even in the snow. He's very emotional, is non toxic about himself, loves pink and loves his body yet also is very masculine. No one knows why he got kicked off the his family's crew but I think he ran into Iva on the way and made something amazing for the army in a quick exchange for a good ol' gender swap. He also has a essentially has a Deadname that was kinda androgynous and now uses a more masculine name all be not by choice, he could have easily changed it back once joining the crew but he just didn't. On tope of all of this, he's a cyborg meaning that he can litrally make any also all changes to his physical spy he wants. He's pansexual cos i feel he would be down for anyone and be a very respectfully person with LGBT matters and he's Aromatic because he constantly says in cannon how he's not looking for romance.
Brook is Gay & Biromantic. Okay, here me out. Given that He's 90 and he died pre Rodger even being important at all, I don't think Brook felt safe to be out. However, he dated Yorki and he was his first and only ever boyfriend. I feel like the bond shown was stronger that what was give time for. It wasn't just loyalty to the Captian, it was so much more and I'm so sad we'll never get to know more because it's never gonna be important enough ever. I put him as Biromantic because A. He's... A skeleton, I don't think he could fuck if he wanted to and B. I think he would take women on nice picnic dates in flower gardens with lots of music, very traditional man while the only difference with men date night being closer to a lake, more privet are I think he would still be worried about it all. Also, I don't think he wants to do anything with the underwear he asks for. Like, it just feels to me like genuinely just wants to see them unlike the others. It's a strange thing.
Nami is Bisexual Demiromantic. This was hard too cos she grew up in the lesbian household™ but Nami strikes me as the type to sleep with people when she needs but really needs that trust to feel anything more for them.
Robin is Bi. I feel like home girl would be overall hesitant, as she is with many thing but once she knows your good, she'll be all in.
Jinbe is gay. Idk why
Vivi is lesbian. I also don't know why but everyone feels she's kissed Nami before and honestly, yeah I see that. Probably how they both new 100% what to identify as too lol
Ta-da! That's it for what I think

hmm... so most of us agree that nami is a lesbian (duh) but since usopp is her best friend on the crew... he can't be a cis straight male. that's just not plausible. where there is one gay the chances of another are doubled, especially if they're bffs.
and zoro is also gay - so we have that. and luffy is ace (i also hc him to be panromantic), sanji bi...
i actually think usopp could be non binary? i can see it. he's (or they? O.o i'll stick to he/him, let's say he doesn't have any preference for pronouns but has obviously gotten used to he but if someone used a neutral pronoun or she it wouldn't bother him. their world doesn't make many strict categories about sexuality so they/them is a bit rare, most who are nonbinary either have their own pronouns in Their language and culture OR they just don't put weight on the gendering of pronouns. we're imposing our terms on them) - so he's got gorgeous curls that i bet he loves taking care of and because of that i also bet he has this feminine side that he's happy to embrace that he inherited from his mom as his dad left him so young. as a result, he doesn't feel attached to being a boy or a girl, and doesn't care. he does, however, still romanticize manliness - a result of insecurity that, over the years, he has come to understand better about himself. i imagine post-ts usopp to have matured a lot in character and also outlook: he now defines 'manliness' as accepting who you are, and living your truth to the fullest. this will solidify in eventual elbaf. he'll meet an incredible girl giant who everyone calls manly cuz her battle prowess is unmatched and so he'll learn that manliness is just sticking to your guns, being brave, and being there for your loved ones. he realizes that the "man" part doesn't really matter after all, and that everyone who teased him growing up was probably just insecure themselves and projecting
anyways, im obsessed with hairdresser usopp. and sure, male hairdressers can be straight but where's the fun in that? he is so handy - he's absolutely the one keeping the crew looking sharp. a lot of ppl probably think it's nami but i don't think she has the hands for it. she's got brains but i picture her being a bit clumsy. usopp is so tactful and adept with his hands, and he's got an eye for detail no one else does. sanji's for food is the only one that compares
yup. that's it. i officially headcanon usopp as a bi non-binary black person. he's long been spoken for by kaya though, but in their travels maybe he finds himself spending the night with a person here or there
this leaves chopper, jinbei, brook, robin, and franky.
franky's easy - he's a cyborg and he has no gender. he is agender. he's also probably bi, just straight-leaning. but he couldn't say no to a beautiful man ;) tbh, maybe he could be pan. that could also be fun. anyways, we all know he doesn't give a fuck about anything but his friends and family, he loves to dance, sing, party, dress wild and crazy- gender for himself and others means nothing to him. he doesn't get bogged down by labels
chopper is straight. like i just cant see it any other way, honestly. but also he's a reindeer so it's not the same as being a hetero cis white male. he's very unproblematic and pure-hearted
jinbei is aromantic i think? but he might settle down to have a family someday anyways with someone dear and kind to him. maybe someone who lost their first and only love, and just wants someone who can make them happy and comfort them. but i could also see him being content going the way of whitebeard and adopting all he loves as his for family. he's been on the sea so long now, been involved in politics so long, he doesn't know how to do much else anymore. he decides to put that good use
brook is straight. that's why he can be so annoying sometimes. and despite being a skeleton, he very much considers himself a man. but he ain't homophobic. he's a musician and he loves love. all love is beautiful to him
and last, but certainly not least, we have robin aka my wife. she's pan 100%. she has no vision about who she could fall in love with, she just wants to be loved and will accept anyone who makes her feel safe, wanted, and that can always make her laugh. she used to have too many walls to even consider romance or sex for a long long time - but having found her place with the Straw Hats, she's ready and waiting for whoever lights that spark (which in my hc is franky. i do love frobin. i love that franky would take such good care of her. i don't think they are in love yet, but it's blooming, and i think what will happen is one day they'll be fighting side by side and they'll both just realize they work so well together and it'll click and fall into place. they'll share a soft look, and after the fight is over, they'll meet on the deck at night once everyone's gone to bed, and they'll talk then robin will kiss him in the middle of him stuttering to confess and they'll make it official)
i love love. ugh it's the best

Who fell first, Nami or Vivi?
This is such a great ask,,
The whole thing of "who fell first, who fell harder" doesn't really feel right for these two because I think they're equally crazy for each other. But, when it comes to who fell first... I probably think that Vivi. But it's hard to explain(?
Vivi fell first in the "crush" sense because she's a princess and has never had the time/right to look at other girls that way. So of course, when a hot pirate enters her life, her whole idea of love changes, and she realizes why she wasn't interested at all in all the men who proposed to her. She kept saying it was because she couldn't find the right guy yet and she had other responsibilities, but then she realizes that it's because they were, well, guys. Because Nami steps into her life pretty much suddenly and she's just so nice to her. She's ruthless but sweet and she has a playful and mischievous spot that Vivi isn't used to but adores. She loves all these new experiences and she falls hard for Nami the second they can rest together in between all the Arabasta drama. So it's not really love at first sight, but just a crush and wanting a taste of something she knows won't last because she'll have to stay in Arabasta in the end. I think, though, that during the whole Drum Island incident, Nami getting sick, and Arabasta as a whole, Vivi falls even more for Nami to the point of love. And it's weird because it happens quickly and turns her life around completely. Nami's kindness and the comfort she provides are so breathtaking for Vivi... She's a whole new world. So I think she fell first, yeah.
For Nami, I think Vivi at first is just a pretty girl like all the pretty girls she's been with before and she doesn't have a crush on her right away. She's more logical here, y'know. She finds Vivi pretty but focuses on helping her out and pretty much relates to her experience of losing the power over her home. She likes her, but she knows it won't last because Vivi will have to go back to Arabasta at some point and Nami doesn't let herself fall for somebody/trust them this easily. She flirts with her jokingly the same way she always does with every girl she meets, and because she's just like that. But I think that, when she falls for Vivi, she falls hard. She skips the crush thing to instantly have a bond with her that turns her whole life around and she knows she's completely fucked. Because of course she had to be cliché like that and fall for a princess they're helping go back to her home. Of course Nami would let her guard down with somebody she'll barely see. But damn, she's just beautiful. Perfect. She's kind but brave and she fights for her people and what matters to her the most. She has strong ideals about protecting people and she's also the cutest thing Nami has ever seen and the closest to comfort/home she'll ever be. Nami loves her because she's just that genuine. She's smart but silly and often forgets stuff. She gets involved in their shenanigans and fits in their family so well, that now that Nami has to accept her leave, she can't picture the crew without her.
I think Vivi wouldn't realize she's a lesbian until she meets Nami, and Nami would treat her like any girl she meets until she falls for Vivi. And it breaks my heart to think that they fall extremely hard for each other but then they have to be apart and- Ugh. Besides, they would talk much about their feelings at first because Vivi is insecure about Nami's experience with love life/girls and Nami doesn't want to get too attached to her (happens anyway).
So basically, Vivi fell first as in "having a crush" and Nami fell first as in "being completely head over heels". Vivi would be okay falling for Nami if Nami wasn't a girl, while Nami would be okay with falling for a girl if that girl wasn't Vivi.
