Hatchetfield Regency
@soggedboytroutanti mentioned a few days ago that a 'Peter wearing his ghost outfit but for real' au was interesting so I thought I'd give a little overview of my regency romance story idea. I won't start it for real until I've finished Teeth That Turn, but if it seems intriguing I may write some bits to share ahead of that. Here's the basic summary of the story:
Solomon Lauter is the most politically powerful man in town, but his position is precarious. If he doesn't get elected again, his 'new wealth' status will get him thrown out of the places and events that his role as mayor has allowed him into. His only real option to solve this problem is to marry his daughter to one of the good families in town. Unfortunately, after his wife died, he basically ignored his daughter until she was old enough to bring into society. That has resulted in a rebellious, improper girl he can not push to do anything. Her refusal to do as she is told is the biggest hurdle between Solomon and his goals.
The most eligible bachelor in town is Max Jägerman. He is old money, he is wealthy, he is handsome, and he is an absolute dick. Despite her detest for Max, Stephanie is pushed by her father to try and woo him to secure her future. All she wanted to do at events was hang out in the corner with Peter Spankoffski and make snarky comments about the ugly dresses of Mrs. Monroe, but Peter isn't an acceptable match according to her father, so she has to focus on Max instead.
Stephanie isn't the only girl who wanted to woo Max. Most of the eligible girls in town want to have a chance at gaining his love, but none more so than Grace Chasity. Grace wants the best possible match, the best possible husband, and she is GOING to get it. The fact that her best friend Stephanie is also attempting to gain her future husband's favor is an utter betrayal, and something needed to be done about it. She isn't attracted to Max, obviously, but the best thing a good Christian woman of her status could do was find an appropriate husband and have many children. Did she think about touching his hair and his chest and his- no! Obviously not! She is simply trying to do what was correct: find a suitable husband and do her duty to the lord.
Peter Spankoffski, however, is not actually looking for a match. The Spankoffski family is old money, but their father squandered it all prior to Peter's birth. Not only that, but he seduced a married woman, creating his brother Ted, and then married her after her husband died. At least Peter is legitimate due to that, he had that going for him, but nothing else. His father's reputation follows him everywhere he goes, and they don't have the money to bring him out into society properly. Despite the hand-me-down clothes and terrible family name, Peter has a good head on his shoulders and has aspirations to bring back his family's social standing and fortune. If Stephanie could wait a few years for him to get on his feet, if her father would give him the time... but no. He won't, and Peter will never gain her father's approval. The best thing he can do is support her in her search for a better husband.
At least he has his friend Ruth and Richie to comfort him. Richie works for the Spankoffski family as a footman and Ruth works as a maid for the Chasity family. They get a good view of the drama unfolding and decide to... help... to the best of their ability. Whether they can actually help solve this or if they will make things worse is yet to be determined, but they are definitely trying. They have no real interest in romance for themselves, but if that happens while they're busy being meddling matchmakers, that's just a bonus.
Who will end up getting Max's hand? Will Peter be able 'redeem' his family and convince Mr. Lauter of his worth? Will Ruth and Richie succeed in their attempts to influence the matches of the town, or will they make everything worse? All things yet to be determined.
I might add more characters and romances because I think about this sort of thing way too much. Some other little bits include
Paul works as an accountant for the Perkins family and has been in love with the younger daughter of the family for years but hasn't said a word due to the difference in status
Ted also works for the Perkins family because his family is flat broke, and he needs the money regardless of the embarrassment it causes
Richie is Paul's nephew, I might make Trevor his brother but I'm not sure yet
The Perkins family is one of the wealthy families in town, they own a paper mill that works with the lumber mill in town. Jane died about a year ago, their parents died recently. Emma never left town, she was engaged to Gary Goldstein for a time, but she broke it off when he cheated on her and she hasn't dated since
Emma and Jane's parents did not support Jane's marriage to Tom because he is a carpenter and they left Jane nothing when they died. Emma now has a family fortune and no idea what to do with it, hence hiring a team of accountants in the hopes of not fucking things up
Tom genuinely wants none of the Perkins money, he hated Jane's parents and hates everything that goes with it. Emma was firmly in their grip until their death and started reaching out afterwards to try and build a relationship but it's been tough.
Roman Murray owns a shipping company and could easily live somewhere else but instead stays in Hatchetfield because he can rule it financially. He and Solomon are absolute rivals in town.
Linda hates living in Hatchetfield and wants to be in a bigger city with more high society, but she and Gerald love her dad's money and he will take it away if they leave. Gerald is a wealthy doctor, but not that kind of wealth.
Grace's dad is still in real estate, but more as a wealthy landlord. They are slightly new money but it's a generation back further than Steph.
Max's family owns the lumber mill.
Peter's family was old money, aka inherited wealth from ancestors doing well in business. Their dad was a younger son so he didn't actually inherit everything, but he squandered what he did have. Peter's uncle hasn't been in contact with them for ages and lives in Chicago.
Solomon is a self made man, no wealthy background, no family to help. He is a social climber, and an excellent politician which has gotten him this far, but it can't get him over the hurdle of being new on the scene.
If anyone has any other questions about this concept feel free to ask. I think too much.

ohhhh okay thoughts on npmd (warning for spoilers ofc!) (also warning for like. anti max/grace if that is something that upsets you)
-i couldn't see and hear everything super well on the digital ticket so there's probably a lotta stuff i missed and i definitely wanna see if there's more stuff i can find when the youtube version releases...
-ohhh pete and steph were really sweet <3 they were always sweet but not like hugely standout characters to me previously? i like them though. they're very cute together. their relationship felt like it moved really fast but idk. maybe that's how highschool dating works.
-grace was a HIGHLIGHT. god i love her she is sooooo messed up and SO entertaining. her scene with the cops was maybe my favorite scene in the whole thing (either that or the lords in black scene. or maybe max getting scared in the whalen house). still mourning what could have been with lesbian!grace though. i literally have a whole unpublished fic about her gay repression that will never see the light of day now. i have to believe she's still a girl liker in some sense but it will take forever for her to even begin to unpack any of that.
-max i am like...conflicted on. sort of. he was a REALLY fun character who had some really good lines and was very entertaining as a villain but i can just tell people are already tipping the line into woobifying him. guys he's really fucking bad. i mean his scene in the whalen house was kind of cute but his initial interaction with grace was literally sexual harassment. if she wasn't into it and he was portrayed as less charismatic people would be completely up in arms about that.
-maybe i'm just biased because "popular jock boy could have any girl he wants but is into the weird nerd girl because she doesn't want him and he likes the hunt" is one of my least favorite tropes in the whole world. like i don't think there is any story in the fucking world that could make that interesting to me. there are ways you could have done their dynamic that would actually interest me but straightforwardly shipping them is NOT it. major squick for me. i'm not going to go so far as to say that nobody should be shipping it but i don't want to see it lol
-i am ALSO biased because whenever a female character shows traits comparable to a traditional "mean girl" fandom shits all over her forever no matter how bad the actual stuff she did is and make up bullshit excuses for it. but when there's a guy character like that people just adore him without fail. this isn't a hatchetfield fandom specific thing though it's just general fandom misogyny and i am a Hashtag Mean Girl Defender
-dirty girl was a banger though.
-ruth was another highlight!! i mean we didn't get grace with a yearny crush on steph like i was hoping but we got a girl with a yearny crush on steph so that is still pretty good. she was such a sweetheart i think her death scene was i think one of the saddest for me personally in literally any hatchetfield property.
-richie was okay but he's on thin ice because of the attack‏‏‎ ‎on‏‏‎ ‎titan‏‏‎ ‎comment. BOOOOOO. WATCH BETTER ANIME.
-the lords in black scene made me CRAZY!!!! i love how insane the audience got too i think it made me even more hyped. so so so so awesome i loved their outfits i loved the dialogue i loved their creepy ass song i loved literally everything about it
-um. yeah. all i can think of for now. even if it wasn't a perfect show to me (black friday is still number one in my heart) i had a really really good time with it and i'm excited to see the fan content people will make!!

ok so
I just finished playing episode 8 and
>spoiler alert<
now more than ever
I'm really REALLY sure the mwaf knows mc
I mean
why is important to him to make sure we watch every one of our friends die? I think it's bc we meant something, as Jake would say, we are the key, I just can't get out of my head that mwaf stalks mc, for some reason this is stuck in my mind lmao
AND something I imagine but I'm sure it will not happen (but would be really cool for the plot) would be mc getting marked
like I know it will not happen bc technically it's not really convencional since you know we are mc and everything
BUT IT WOULD BE SO COOL IF IT HAPPENS
I mean mwaf did threatens to come after us
but we don't live in duskwood
and we're not going to go to duskwood
so if he does come to us, he would have to come to our house
which implies that he know or at least knows how to find where we live
I bet he's a stalker but anyway
I just think it would be a really cool thing if we get marked
it would be the trigger to make Jake show himself to us
also, WHY THE FUCK DID THOMAS AND JESSY SEPARATE IN THE HOUSE
RULE NUMBER 1 OF HORROR MOVIES, NEVER BE ALONE
LIKE COME ON GUYS, BE SMART
I was the whole call repeating "you're gonna die, RUN"
at least they didn't die lol
Spoiler ep 8!

You’re right, always stay positive, this time nobody died. Praise the Lord. 😂🥳
But yes, with the rest I agree with you too. Otherwise he wouldn’t be as mad as he is, he’s worried that something might come out that only MC knows (I think)
I would also find it incredibly cool if we were marked.
We can’t be personally marked, but he could do it in Duskwood. Maybe so that everyone can see it to show that something very bad is going to happen, or he could send us a picture or something. Although the call was something like a marker.
I don’t think Jake will show himself to us (at least not personally, logically, but don’t think that way in general)
But he would definitely be so worried and that would be so sweet. And it would drive all the thrill of the game even higher. We would be marked and then have to wait and watch until one by one dies.
And why they went into this house I do not know either! I would have been against it but unfortunately there was no option. Already when Jessy said they was going there, I knew it was gonna escalate again.
Thank God Thomas was so smart to throw this stupid can so they can get away. I mean, they could have found Hannah and Richy, but they could have died, too. Although I probably would have gone there too, if I could have xD
But really being publicly marked by the MWAF would be really cool, that would be so exciting, I hope that will still happen. And since we still need to know what we have to do with all this, a connection between us and the MWAF will certainly come to light.🤭
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I just loved it! <3

Lol yes, I can absolutely see Richie thinking he could be mature about a bully, but then when confronted with the path to do so just absolutely losing all sight of it. Meanwhile Eddie's over here rolling his eyes like *he* had to be the mature one, *whatever, Richie*. Okay Ben so would do that. But I guess I'm just thinking of Richie trying to project onto some delicately wonderful man who has similar tastes to Eddie, and also happens to have access to a lot of really fun parties, etc. And so Richie dates him but in not-really-a-date kind of way. And Alistair is like, "Well, I do have eyes... But, you know; I think we could still make it work ;)" And Richie's like, "Boy don't I wish my feelings for Eddie were that easy to ignore. ♥" Is Bev Roz? I could definitely see Ben as ... oh lord what's his name? Kenny. (We're not gonna talk about how much Richie's actually like Bulldog right? Cause Bulldog needs to stop SO many things.)
Oh gosh, Richie as Bulldog - beeping himself! Playing practical jokes on co-workers, making lewd comments. I would love that.
Yes, I see your point! Richie dating a guy who is Eddie-adjacent but not really dating him because he can’t commit while Eddie chews the walls up in a frenzy because Richie is dating this wonderful man who has access to all of the glitz and glamour that Eddie has lost since his divorce from Myra, having been shunned from her social circle. He can’t even get reservations any more! How could he ever woo Richie now? Like Richie wouldn’t happily sit in the park and eat hog dogs while listening to Eddie bitch about food safety regulations.  Yes, I was thinking of Bev as being a Roz kind of figure. I love the idea of her being brash and flirty. Yes, Ben as a Kenny kind of guy, sweet and bumbling and not actually able to stand up to Richie about anything because Richie just steamrolls over him with his plans. But also Ben would be super practical and able to fix things, which would be great because Eddie and Richie have no practical skills whatsoever and Bev isn’t going to do it - she doesn’t want to.

Hello! I saw your "fill my inbox" post, and thought I should take advantage and say: I recently read your Scott Fuller POV fic, and I loved it so much! You really captured his voice so perfectly, and the journey he went on through the show. It's so cool find a truly nuanced take on him, that credits him with all his emotions and messy motivations. 💖 So I was wondering, what kind of storylines would you like to see explored for Scott if we were to get a proper Season 4, and do you have any Scott headcanons you'd like to share?
Ahhhh! Thank you so much! I always felt they never gave Scott much of a storyline outside of one that revolved around the rest of the gang. At the end of the day, he was just some kid waaay in over his head without the moral compass like Kate’s to guide him. Also I always thought it was an interesting choice that the adopted brother was non-white. How difficult it must have been for an adopted child and a POC to grow up in a small Texas town. As someone who grew up in Texas as well, my heart just goes out to the kid <3
As for Season 4, tbh I have all of Season 4 plotted out (shout out to mah girl @notahotlibrarian) and Scott actually takes a really interest turn. He teams up with Kisa in order to help earn the title of Anciana, one of the rulers over each of the Spanish-speaking lands. Think a Lord, but for an entire country. Kisa wants Mexico and Texas and she has to prove her worth in a series of tasks, and Scott serves as her second. Season 4 Scott is about choice, not out of necessity or fear. He’s a boy trying to become a man and defining that for himself — not the Texas definition, not the culebra definition. Himself. Also I think there could be some serious friendship points earned between him and Kisa because they were both abused in different ways by the people that were supposed to love them.
Head cannons include:
His first serious musical influence was Elvis. Before selling their house in Bethel, Kate was sure to save each and every video tape of five year old Scott with his hair slicked back, saying, “thank you very much” to anyone who walked by.
Turning into a culebra makes him realize he’s not 100% straight. But again he doesn’t know what that means, or what it means for him, so he works to figure it out for himself.
Using some of the money they got from selling the house in Bethel, he secretly paid for the funerals of the classmates he killed and sends their family flowers every year.
He finds that he actually likes school now that there’s no pressure to graduate or get a job. He gets a degree from the University of Texas in Music Theory. Over the next few years, he gets degrees in a variety of other subjects from different schools around the country because he can. Richie asks, since he’s the new Professor, if he wants a cock gun too.
Seth and Kate’s kid isn’t scared of his snake face. In fact she finds it hilarious.
Thank you so much for asking and getting me to scratch my brain about Scott Fuller again. I can’t say I have anything in the works right now for FDTD (Marvel is currently consuming every waking thought), but that’s not to say it can’t happen! If you ever have prompt, always send it and I’ll be sure to file it away, if I don’t work on it immediately!

8. Favorite trope to write.
Well it looks like most of my and especially my short ones, are quiet, intimate moments between the two characters. I get really ambitious about more ensemble-like stories, but they take me a long time and I haven’t finished them yet haha. At the same time, watching over someone from afar was SO much fun to write, it just took me a REALLY long time from start to finish.
Also, cuddling and snuggling. Every single time.
30. Favorite line you’ve ever written.
Oh man, it’s SO hard to pick just one! I have a lot of favorite lines of fics I haven’t published yet, but definitely:
“I’m here, because there are so few people left who love you Frank, and I wasn’t going to say no to getting to know them.” - watching over someone from afar
and this from Kate in holding on (and not letting go)
“What would you—why would you want to do that? I’m a mess, Seth. I don’t sleep, I don’t eat, I can barely look at myself in the mirror. I lose it at the drop of a hat. Why are you tying yourself to that? Is it guilt? Because this was always going to happen to me, whether you and Richie kidnapped us from the Dew Drop Inn or not. I know that now. So, you don’t have to take responsibility for the mess that the lords and their gods threw me into. I don’t need you to do that when there are so many other things you could be doing right now without me.”
31. Hardest character to write.
I’m not sure what it is, but I tend to struggle most with the perspective of male characters, which is why most of the fics I write are in the pov of the female of the pairing. writing not the same, in Frank’s POV was something of a challenge for me. But then on the flip side, now that I’m diving in to FDTD, I feel like writing from Seth’s perspective is coming a LOT easier to me than writing Kate’s.
40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why?
Both! I’ve been writing original fiction on and off around my fanfiction writing for y e a r s. I even had a manuscript that I looked for a literary agent for (borne out of my desire to have a functional relationship between two bisexual protagonists whose drama does not come from their relationship, but things happening OUTSIDE of it (like the potential destruction of the world, ya know. As it so happens). My 2017 Family Shitshow (TM) kind of make it very difficult for me to even look at that manuscript for...well, it’s 2020 and I still haven’t done what I know I need to do before looking for an agent again, but fanfiction actually helped me get back into writing. I feel like the Rogue One and post-TLJ fic I wrote from 2017-2018 helped me learn how to write again. Now it’s just a matter of trying to figure out how I want to go about tearing apart the manuscript and putting it back together in the way I know it needs to be.

I'm so happy to have discovered your blog today! If I may ask--I have a problem and I'm interested in your thoughts on it? I'm genderfluid and bi, and I recently told a fellow Catholic friend that I'm not in agreement with the Church on LGBTQ issues. She has become DETERMINED to "help" me change my mind, but she puts it as helping me "understand" church teaching better. Like, talking about this regularly and trying to figure out "why" I'm like this. I DON'T WANT! But how do I make it stop?
I’m happy you found me! I’m not Roman Catholic, rather Orthodox Catholic (and even then I’m a bit of a heretic) but I’ll try my best!
(also before I start, a friendly reminder that Orthodoxy is a collection of decentralized and independent churches, not one large church under one authority like Roman Catholics)
Quoting bible verses verbatim without interpretation can often be helpful.
The first thing that comes to mind is “Judge not, lest ye be judged.” (Mathew 7:1) and “Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls.” (Romans 14:4).
However my largest conviction (besides my own morals the Spirit blessed me with of course) comes from my belief that there is no true translation of the Bible yet and rather often it has been read wrong! As the Church Father’s have said, no man can boast that he has the one and only definitive reading of the Bible, more that he is one of many who endeavor our best to interpret the word of God. Also we must look at the historical context first though to even get close!
So, firstly any translation that uses the word “sodomites” is probably using it wrong! A “sodomite” is actually only a person who lived in “Sodom” however the more broader use refers to a person who does not treat guests well nor do they give to the poor. "'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.” (Ezekiel 16:49).
Now you probably know the passage in Leviticus, its the one soooo many anti LGBTAQ+ people quote!
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22)
Well here is some facts. If you look around the passages, in the Hebrew/Greek and the historical context you realize it’s referencing male concubines or even sacred prostitution/temple prostitution. I will admit that it might be on unsteady ground, but I think it should be looked into further and not just simply dismissed.
Now Corinthians is not the same, it’s a lot more obvious.
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.” (1 Corinthians 6:9)
This is how the passage is usually translated but in the Greek from which this was translated it actually is using the words malakoi and arsenkoitai which ACTUALLY translate better as “Adult men who have sex with younger men”
As Cristina Richie says “Paul [in I Corinthians] intended the term malakoi to refer to a catamite, or the boy in the Greek boy/man arrangement [pedophilia victim], and arsenkoitai to refer to a pederast, or the man in the same relationship [pedophile]. These terms are not synonymous (unlike ‘homosexual’) but complementary[…].”
Now after all this, why have I said all this? I’m trying to arm you with some information! That’s the best way. A lot of people will come at you with their own interpretations and you need to arm yourself against those who would try to do you harm both physically, mentally and spiritually!
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:10-17)
Now that I’ve armed you with some passages I just want to say, if you want this to stop (other than using the armaments I have given you) just be honest with them. Try to make them understand that you don’t want to change. That this is who you are, it’s who God made you to be and this isn’t a thing to be “solved”. The Roman Catholic Church isn’t going to change it’s broader teachings any time soon, I do hear the Pope has spoken out about how he believes God only condemns the act of homosexuality and not the person themselves and don’t get me wrong, this is an important step! Maybe there might be a Vatican III where they decide homosexuality is fine! But this doesn’t change how they view it right now. It’s only a single step and a institution as old as Rome isn’t going to change any time soon in any real meaningful way. I am talking about Homosexuality in general since it’s the only issue directly addressed in the Bible, except maybe “cross dressing” but don’t get me started on that one (What the Hell does Deuteronomy 22:5 MEAN? “A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.” men wore “dresses” back then though???).
I think your friend has to learn to sympathize with you, to know that this kind of rhetoric is hurting you! That if they want to be your friend, if they want to be a friend at all, that this is NOT how! Jesus and God is first and foremost about love.
I hope I didn’t overwhelm you with my block of text!
Even if your friend doesn’t come to accept and love you for who you are, know that I DO, that other people like me do and of course, God does.
“Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:10)

“Thankful” (happy ending AU Reddiefic, Secret Santa gift!)
Hi there @pawprinterfanfic! I’m your secret santa for the @itfandompromptssecret santa gift exchange! I’m sorry its almost midnight, I was at a holiday event with my family, but I had such a wonderful time writing this for you and I hope you have an absolutely blessed holiday season! With all of my love and warm wishes, enjoy! Summary: The Thanksgiving after Pennywise finally goes to wherever evil killer clowns go, The Losers have a lot to be thankful for, Richie and Eddie most of all. (Happy ending AU where Stan went back to Derry, and because of that, they all lived.) Rating: T, because Richie has a mouth on him.
It snows on Thanksgiving in Derry. Richie Tozier forgot how much he hated that shit. He’s sulking around Mike’s (admittedly incredible and way more spacious than he’d realized at first,) apartment over the library, and he can feel two pairs of eyes on him - Eddie, from his now customary, since coming home, finally, from the hospital, place on the window seat by the round window that looked out over the town square, and Sprinkles, the cat that Richie was unsure if Beverly had actually adopted from the shelter in town for Mike, or had merely found on the street and claimed as theirs. Ben would be the first to tell you, she definitely had a way of taking in strays.
“What exactly are you two doing to that poor thing?” Eddie calls, book long forgotten, and Sprinkles, who has made herself comfortable in his lap, makes a quiet little mrrrr noise of curiosity of her own.
Still squinting at the cookbook open in front of him, one hand menacingly clutching an entire stick of butter that’s melting rapidly in the heat of his hands over the turkey, resting on a bed of potatoes and carrots in what he’s been told is called a ‘roasting pan.’ Richie is not, nor has he ever been a great cook, but he and Bill will be damned if they can’t figure out what Martha Stewart called the “idiot proof” turkey earlier that day on television while the others are rushing about doing the rest of the things required for the day to be perfect.  And the day would be perfect, damn it, if it was the last thing Richie did: they had so much to be thankful for. He felt the familiar flood of emotion in his chest when it hit him again, just how grateful he was. Pennywise was gone, for good, and Eddie’d lived. He thought he’d known fear before they went into that cistern, or when he saw those massive spider legs, or what he saw in the deadlights, but he had never known fear like the blur of minutes of carrying Eddie from that awful place, turned to the hours of sitting on the floor in a hospital hallway, Eddie’s blood darkening on the front of his shirt, turned to the days of waiting for him to wake up. He also thought he’d, at least at some point in his life, known happiness, and relief, but he hadn’t, until finally he was roused from sleep by the hand he’d held for so long, wishing and hoping and even praying, curling around his.
That’d been July, it was the end of November now and everything between that was a blur. That first night, everyone slept on chairs in the hospital, but eventually bags were collected from the Townhouse and migrated to Mike’s. “No friends of mine are going to keep living in that shithole for god knows how long,” the librarian had harrumphed at them, making up his sole guest room (never used,) pulling out his couch, and sending Ben to buy air mattresses. If Richie was smuggled there, ‘home,’ to sleep in those early weeks, he doesn’t remember. He remembers being absolutely unwilling to let Eddie out of his sight, lest he disappear, lest this not actually all be real, lest this be some fever dream in the deadlights, but then eventually he remembers waking up with the golden light of a late summer sunset falling over him, bundled under a pile of blankets in that guest room, Beverly sitting next to him, watching tv.
“I need to get back to the hospital,” he’d rasped at her, reaching for his glasses.
“You need to go back to sleep,” she’d murmured, brushing his hair out of his eyes with sisterly affection.  He had.
The weather grew cold, and the leaves turned the brilliant colors of fall in Maine, something else Richie had forgotten, and forgotten that he’d loved. One day, between the hospital and home, when Stan’s wife, Patty, who he’d begun to think of as the group’s tiny little blonde guardian angel, ushered him into a Halloween store to find Eddie “something seasonal to brighten that room up!” Richie realized that…none of them had gone home.
“Wait!” he surprised Patty by how quickly he sort of…grabbed her. She responded by turning and giving him a tight hug, to which he replied, feeling like a dunce, with “Don’t you all have lives?”
She blinked up at him, “Hm?”
“You flew all the way up here the second Stan called you. Audra came out. None of you have gone home. What about your jobs? Your houses? Your lives?”
“You’re family. Eddie’s family. You all need us.”
“Yes, Patty, and we love you very much, but the logistics-”
“We all figured, we’re…established, enough,” she shrugged, “We’ve all done well, Trashmouth. We’re in a position to be here, so we are. And besides,” she giggled brightly, “Ben is loaded.”
He laughed. She laughed. They left with a stuffed monkey dressed up as a mummy. Eddie would hate it.
The week before Thanksgiving, they sprung him. Until you really got to know Eddie Kaspbrak, Richie explained, he was a charming son of a bitch and had somehow convinced the nurses that that was his true nature.
Eddie, seated on the edge of his hospital bed as Richie stooped to tie his shoes for him, groaned, “Yes, Richie. I love you, too.”
Eddie got the guest room after that, which meant that Richie, who’d insisted on an air mattress and that someone else take that bed, was back in that cozy room, and for the first time since that awful day on Neibolt Street, since the nights before, hiding, sneaking from one room to another, Richie slept with Eddie in his arms, the cold sweating of nightmares gone, beaten back by the warmth, the solidity of the other man. Eddie was there, Eddie was real, and Eddie was alive.
So yes, even as he stood there, holding a half melting stick of butter that he was pretty sure that he was about to unceremoniously shove up a turkey’s ass, Richie Tozier was grateful.
“Rich? Hellllloooooooooo. Earth to Richie,” Bill waved a hand in his face, “Psst. You in there?”
Richie shook his thoughts clear, “Yeah, uh..yeah. I’m here. Sorry. Shit. What do I do with this?”
Bill looked back at the cookbook, then at the butter, then back to the cookbook, and sighed with relief, “Thank fuck. We rub it under the skin-”
“It puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again!” Richie couldn’t help himself, voice and all.
“Jesus Christ, Richie.”
“It’s so the turkey doesn’t get dry!” Eddie called from the window seat, “Please don’t make me get up and come over there.”
“The turkey is not going to be dry, Eduardo!” Richie called back, and passed the now slippery stick of what surely was not butter but felt like pure grease, and was probably, in all actuality, the margarine that Eddie tried to convince them caused cancer if eaten literally ever at all, unceremoniously to a very confused Bill. “Here, you handle this, Big Bill,” he said, and wandered off to entertain Eddie and the cat before the former could offer any more unsolicited advice. Bill blinked at him, and sighed - some people never change, not even almost three decades and a murdered clown later. He was definitely going to need a drink.
+++
It was margarine and the turkey was dry (due, however, more to Bill getting a little tipsy and not setting his timer for the right amount of time after he stuffed the turkey into the apartment’s small-ish oven, than to any lack of comprehension from two grown men of at least above average intelligence but very little usable kitchen skill about what to do with butter on Thanksgiving when cooking,) but they were all too wrapped up in the warm glow of the occasion to notice once they all finally sat down to eat, Mike doing the honors of carving the bird expertly for someone who, the night before, had confessed that he not only hadn’t done a real Thanksgiving in twenty seven years but was also a vegetarian. Patty led the table in a round of applause as he took a small bow before sitting down, his grin wide and bright.
Everyone looked expectantly to Bill, at the head of the table, always their leader, who looked, lost to his wife. Audra chuckled and gave his hand a squeeze under the table, “Should we say grace?”
“I will! I will!” Richie offered, to only mild protest, “Everybody hold hands, c’mon, pretend like we like each other, c’mon, c’mon.” The Losers, and their now honorary members, Audra and Patty, obliged, and Richie cleared his throat, bowing his head, “Dear Lord, we uh…thank you for…this day and these people and stuff and for that time that Jesus kid was…in Turkey and he…did some stuff-”
“Richie we’re Jewish why are you talking about Jesus,” Stan muttered.
Richie, unfazed continued, “Or maybe today we just have turkey, maybe he wasn’t in turkey, wait…is that why we have turkey, is it-”
“Heeeeeeeey, I have an idea,” Ben interjected, “Instead of…whatever that was, why don’t we all just say something we’re thankful for? It’s been one hell of a year, and I have a lot I’m thankful for now.”
“Great idea!” Bev lit up, smiling up at him, “I’ll go first. This year, I’m thankful for all of you, and I’m thankful for Ben, and,” she peeked under the table at Ben’s large German Shepherd, his bowl already emptied between his paws, waiting for table scraps, “Scout down there, and Sprinkles, wherever she got to.”
“Same,” Ben seconded, “All of you and Bev and…our freedom.”
Patty raised her water glass, “I think that’s worth toasting. No more clowns!”
To the clink of glasses, they echoed, “No more clowns.”
“I’m thankful for Mike!” Bill went next, “I mean, yes, I’m thankful for all of you. Audra, Stan, all of you, I mean that. But Mikey…dude, you st-stayed here f-f-for us. You remembered.”
“And then you took us all in!” Beverly added. Mike ducked his head, “Thank you. I’d do it again. I’m thankful you all came back.”
“I’m thankful that Bill called me, after Mike did,” Stan said softly, “I was in a bad place and…about to do something drastic,” his voice was barely audible at the other end of the table, “And I would have never gotten to see us all this happy.”
Patty wrapped her arm around his and kissed his shoulder, “I’m thankful for that, too. And that you’ve all let me be a part of this family.”
“Same here,” Audra offered. A chorus of ‘we love you’s and ‘of course you’re part of this family’ went up to the both of them.
“I’m thankful to be alive,” said Eddie, “I’m thankful that I get to…actually live my life now. I feel like I went from my mother to Myra and-”
“I’m thankful for divorce attornies,” Richie muttered.
“Beep beep, Richie,” Beverly muttered.
Eddie continued as though he hadn’t been interrupted, “Like, yeah, I almost died which is extremely fucking weird to say or even…think about…but…I get to live now. I’m not under mom’s thumb. I’m not under Myra’s thumb-”
“You just have me wrapped around your little finger,” Richie’s smile, for once, wasn’t wry or sardonic, but warm, and gentle and his eyes were so soft as he looked at the other man.
Under the table, Eddie slipped his hand into Richie’s and squeezed it three times: I love you. “You love it.”
“I do.”
“And what about you, Rich?” Stan asked, beaming, “What are you thankful for? Besides Eddie’s divorce attorney, I mean.”
“A lot,” Richie was surprisingly quiet, and reverent, “Everything? All of you? That…I finally get to spend the rest of my life next to this weird little gremlin-”
“Hey-”
“Who I love more than anything in the world. Who I never stopped loving, not for a second. Who my heart always remembered.”
Their eyes met, Eddie’s filling with tears.
Ding, ding, ding! Patty tapped her spoon on her glass, and soon the others joined her, “Kiss! Kiss!”
That cold, snowy Thanksgiving night, in a warm apartment in Derry, Maine, filled with love and friendship, Richie Tozier kissed Eddie Kaspbrak, and everything was absolutely golden.

Quite unexpected turn of events
Eddie's head was pounding, and he felt like absolute shit. Also for some reason his wrist burned a little. With a lot of effort he opened his eyes, letting the bright morning rays of sun reach his eyes. It stung and he groaned. He turned his head to the side, glancing at the clock standing on the nightstand. Turns out these definitely weren't morning rays of sun but the middle of the day sun rays. This was unusual for him, since he liked to wake up early. But after the whole mess with regaining memories worth 27 years and fighting a demonic clown, he was exhausted, so these past days he did find himself sleeping in quite often. So, that wasn't the odd part about this whole situation.
What was weird, however, was the fact that he felt like he had threw up in his own mouth or something and the annoying ache in his head. But that's how he sometimes felt after a practically bad nightmare, which he had pretty often now. But the thing is, he hadn't had a nightmare, he had actually slept quite well. Also, the weird burning on his wrist was announcing it's presence once again, so he tried to lift his arm to see what the hell is up with it, to be met with the fact that he was unable to move his arm. The reason? The owner of birds nest of hair, huge glasses and most handsome face Eddie had ever seen, laying and drooling right over it. Ah, Richie.
Wait.
Richie as in the very Richie Tozier, his best friend, that he had had a crush on for practically his whole life, was in the same bed with him, cuddling with him? What in the name of god-
Suddenly a very paralyzing thought hit Eddie - had they slept together?! No, that couldn't be, they still had their clothes on, thank god. Not that he didn't want to sleep with Richie, he just simply wanted to remember sleeping with Richie.
Because right now he couldn't properly remember anything. Everything about last night seemed fuzzy, parts of the evening came back him, but he couldn't really piece them together.
He just knew that after defeating Pennywise the losers had left Derry and started to rebuild their lives. Eddie called Mayra and had had probably the most uncomfortable and unpleasant conversation in his entire life, requesting a divorce. He remembers a lot of screaming on her end and a lot of apologizing on his. After that he had went with Richie to LA. A rather harsh and fast decision for his tastes, but then again, after barely escaping death he now felt more at ease, more free, more willing to let go ,to just say fuck it, to not deny himself the things he wanted.
So yeah, he and Richie have been living together for about a month now. One evening they had decided it would be a great idea to invite all the other losers for a sleepover to Richie's apartment.
And it really would have been all fun and games if they wouldn't have gotten drunk out of their minds. But they did, so here Eddie was, left with no memory of last night, a pounding head, and Richie curled up right next to him.
Speaking of the devil, Richie snorted in his sleep, but then groaned and stretched out like a cat, then turned around to face Eddie, eyes still closed. Eddie held his breath while he watched the scene unravel, waiting for the moment Richie would finally come to his senses, probably apologize for falling asleep on him, even though this is his room, because no matter what, he still was a gentleman, and they'd never speak of this incident again.
What happened, however, was not exactly that. Richie opened his eyes, looked at Eddie, flashed him a crooked smile, leaned forward and pecked him right on the lips.
''Mornin', babe.''
Eddie eyes widened and he froze, unable to form a coherent thought. What the hell-
Eddies unresponsiveness finally made Richie register what he had just done. His eyes widened aswell and his mouth hung open, trying to say something, but no sound came out.
They simply stared at each other for a while, probably looking dumb as fuck, until Richie scrambled out of the bed, tripping over the sheets, and run out of the room, murmuring something about needing to take a shower, cheeks red.
Eddies own cheeks were warming up, and his lips felt like they were on fire.
He still tried to recover from what just happened when he heard voices from outside the room. Right, the rest of the losers were still here. Whatever had happened last night, he knew it must be something embarrassing, it always was, and he could already feel the teasing coming. But he had to get out of the room at some point, because his stomach was protesting loudly about the lack of food in him.
Eddie got out of the bed, smoothed out his clothes, run his hand trough his hair, a quite bad attempt to smooth it out, took  a deep breath and pushed the door open.
He was met with bright sunlight and quite the chaos of Richie's living room. Cups and plastic plates were thrown everywhere, as well as pieces of popcorn and m&ms. There were also empty bottles of alcohol and pizza boxes. Eddie scrunched up his nose at the mess and walked trough, heading towards the kitchen, to get a glass of water, hoping to slip past his friends unnoticed, because, okay, maybe he didn't want to face them just yet.
But just as about anything in his life, that didn't work out because a voice stopped him in his tracks.
''Look who's finally up! Eddie, sweetheart, how are you feeling?''
It was Beverly, who was currently tying her hair into a tiny ponytail. She looked just fine, like she hadn't had gotten wasted with them just a few hours prior. She was always the one who took alcohol the best. She also had a mischievous grin on her face that never meant anything good. Oh, lord, help him please.
''Morning, Bev, just peachy, and you? '' He replied, doing an over enthusiastic voice.
''Awh, Eddie, you truly are the lightweight of this family.'' she said, smirking.
''Well, to be fair him and Richie last n-'' Ben, who was currently trying to pick up all the plastic cups off the floor started, but was cut off by Richie entering the living room.
''Sup, hoes, how are we feeling this fine morning?!'' He exclaimed rather loudly. His dark curls were damp from the shower and he had changed into some sweatpants and a sweater. He looked way too good for a 40 year old man, in Eddie's opinion.
Bev completely ignored Richies question, her smirk only growing wider, and said, ''Well, well, well, look who it is. Finally both of the lovebirds have left their love lair, to join us peasants, who clearly aren't worth your time!'' Her voice held no anger, just pure smugness, like she just proved a point, eyes darting from Richie to Eddie and then back.
Richie let out a bark of laughter but Eddie saw a flash of fear in his eyes, but he quickly recovered. ''Bev, honey, what the hell are you talking about? Are you still drunk because – ''
Bev was quick to cut him off, ''Oh, don't play dumb, Rich, you know full well what I'm talking about.''
Eddie saw the rest of the losers trying to hide their laughter, barely holding it in. Expect Stan, who was looking at something on his phone, looking absolutely unbothered by the whole situation.
''No, I actually don't, what is going on, guys?'' Now Richie really did sound confused.
Beverly was about to say something else, when Mike gently interrupted, ''Bev, I think they genuinely don't know,'' he said sympathetically, all the while hiding a smile of his own.
''No, we don't, so would you like to elaborate? '' Eddie finally spoke, dread already setting in his stomach. Whatever had happened last night, the rest of their friends are not going to let them live this down, that's for sure.
Beverly turned to Stan saying, ''Stan, would you like to do the honors?''
Stan then looked up from his phone, fixed Eddie and Richie with an unimpressed look and cleared his throat. ''Gladly. So, as we all remember, Richie and Eddie invited us all to this lovely gathering, completely unsuspecting of the ordeals that would later take place. We all got here, talked, drunk a few glasses of wine and then, this man right here, '' he then gestured to Richie, ''comes up with the brilliant idea, that we should play some games. We decided on truth or dare. So, a lot of stupid dares and alcohol later, it was Richie's turn to choose, truth or dare. He had chosen dare. Ben, here, '' he then gestured to Ben for emphasis, ''came up with this wonderful dare – sing karaoke with one other person of your choice. And that they had to sing whichever song came on next on the radio. So, I think we all can guess which person he chose, but if anybody else here is suffering a memory loss, then he chose Eddie. Eddie, being quite intoxicated himself had agreed. The song they had to sing turned out to be Africa by TOTO. The performance, well, wasn't too great, but we all could feel the intense emotions behind it, so I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. Anyways, by the end of the song, these two lovely gentlemen shared quite the moment, staring intensely into each others eyes for approximately minute and a half. We all thought a kiss was coming, I personally was about to ask everyone to hand over their money to me, but then suddenly an unexpected turn of events occurred. Richie, while still staring into Eddies eyes loudly exclaimed an offer – and I quote – ''do you want to get matching tattoos'', to which Eddie replied and I quote - ''absolutely''. Then they both hurried to grab their coats, and Richie tried to grab his car keys, to which Eddie screamed –''no, we're both drunk!'', to which Richie replied ''aw shit! '', and then came Eddies reply – ''call a taxi dumbass!''. And that was that.  All of us were shocked to the core, unable to make sense of this sudden occurrence. When the shock wore off, we decided to check on you two. At first, none of you answered your phones, but then, when logging onto social media we quite quickly learned that you two are just fine. On Instagram Richie had posted these pictures,'' the he proceeded to quickly tap something on his phone and then held it up. On the screen, he had opened Richies instagram account and a picture in which Eddie could be seen in the taxi, laughing at something. Then, when everyone had looked at the picture, Stan swiped left, revealing a second picture in which him and Eddie were holding up their intertwined hands, Eddie showing a peace sign with this free hand, both looking absolutely wasted. But the worst part was the caption, which read ''lmao i want to climb him like a tree'' with a tree emoji and the rain/water drop emoji, which in its whole history had never been used to describe rain or water. Eddie was pretty sure his cheeks had never felt this hot in his entire life.
Richie was about to say something, but then Stan snatched the phone away, held up his finger, silencing him and continued, '' Anyway, after that we knew you two were completely fine, aswell as I could finally successfully collect the money we all bet on you two. However, unfortunately that's not where it ended. Later, we went on Twitter and noticed that Richie had tweeted and I quote - ''yoo bitches heres some tea i have the big homo for eddie spagethii oof sksks'' and then made several other tweets which only contained Eddies Twitter handle. Eddie had replied with only Richies twitter handle. I think that's all. Oh wait, right, Richie commented on all of Eddies Instagram posts with things like 'damn daddy' or 'what a piece of ass' '',Stan said while doing air quotes. ''Okay, I think that would be all.''
Finally, after Stans dramatic summery of their last nights adventures, the memories finally came back. The singing, the posting all those dumb things, the kissing on street, kissing at the back of a taxi, kissing, kissing… Eddie had never been this embarrassed in this life. He already predicted that whatever they had done last night would be bad, but not this much.
Even Richie seemed at loss of words. His eyes were wide and even his cheeks were in a blushing shade of pink.
''I tweeted that?!'' He then shouted.
''And got it trending,'' Stan replied, pointing at him.
''And got it trending?!'' Richie repeated, still screaming.
Now, that the bomb had been dropped, the rest of the losers stopped trying to hold back their laughter.
Richie and Eddie then shared a hopeless look. Richie snorted and Eddie did too and held his hand over his mouth. Richie crossed the room, coming to stand next to Eddie.
''Well, those really are some unexpected turns of events, Eds. '' He said, a sweet smile now decorating his face.
Eddie signed, ''I've never been more embarrassed in my life.''
''Looks like I didnt even do anything wrong when we woke up, '' he smirked, '' Also, while I must admit that this was not how I imagined confessing my feelings to you, I am happy that I did anyway.'' He said, slowly reaching for Eddies hand.
Eddie took it, and intertwined their fingers. ''Yeah, me too.. '' Then a sudden itch on his wrist reminded him of something. He quickly let go of Richies hand and pushed up the sleeve of his sweater.
There, on his skin, now lay R+E in simple writing and black ink. He simply started at the letters until Richie pushed his own wrist next to his. He had the same simple letters, only in switched places – E+R.
Eddie looked at the tattoos and was surprised that he didn't regret it. Even though they had gotten them while being completely wasted, he still felt no shame, no regret about that. He smiled and looked up, into Richies eyes. ''They're kinda cute. ''
''You think so? I was thinking maybe I could add '+ Eddie's mom' -''
Eddie only rolled his eyes. ''Beep-beep Richie.'' He then signed and intertwined their hands once again and leaned into his side.
The embarrassment was still burning a hole in him, but despite it all, he felt content. For the first time in so long, he felt good.

Got the chance to read it So here are some of my thoughts: 1. I like the romantic atmosphere that the comic starts off with warm colours and it gives a vacation ad sensation? 2. My favourite moment is in the pink strange dream world, the colours contrast to the reality of Cara. 4. Fave moment: When that mystery guy shows up and he had corny lines like a romantic parody. It seem so fantastical. 5. I like the colour palette choice of brown tones, shades of pinks. 6. I think the theme is about expectations (it's not clear atm), how Cara is distancing from real relationships and prefer to indulge. 7: I like how the creator shows Cara looking scared of confronting things. It sets an interesting tone of uncertainty. Is she hiding something?(edited)
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I'm super curious about the situation of Cara not remembering her past dreams with Richie, and how that ties into the theme.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
1. I like how I don’t know what to expect. I also like how the premise is relateable; the idea that you are scared of imperfection making you have high standards in life hit close. 2) Every single time we’re treated to....Tuyetnhi’s lovely use of expression. Also the end part of episode 2, because that’s when I realized it’s going to get dark. 3) A tie between Ana and Richie. Ana because she makes me laugh with her blunt assertions (which...aren’t wrong) and Richie because he’s so flamboyant and extra. I love how much personality they all have. 4) Hands down Richie and Cara. They have a really hilarious dynamic going on. 6) The idea that people seek perfection through their dreams instead of facing reality. Also I really liked how it tackles society’s fixation on everyone to find someone....maybe Cara doesn’t need that and needs to focus on herself first? 7) That I won’t know what to expect. I came into this thinking it was going to be a classic romcom, and then I get hit with implicit horror and trippyness. I have a feeling Tuyetnhi is hinting at some darker aspects of the story we have yet to see. 8) Good lord the expressions. They really do the story justice and make me turn the page every time. Also the colours are beautiful.(edited)
(Whoops sorry keiiii)
7) two moments actually!
The fact that their wide eyed sweaty expressions matched made me laugh really hard
And also Cara’s quick acceptance of the situation was so unexpected and hilarious I took a double take. Also props to the colour dissonance; that looks like meme material right there!
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
yeah. I want to make it clear that Cara is like "This is really not my day." lol
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Well....you portrayed that sentiment perfectly
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Omg yes the wide eyed expressions were also making me laugh! Well that was an expression I didn't expect coming into the story(edited)
I was wondering if that was suppose to be serious or humorous?
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
both LOL
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
I see the horror you got going there Tuyetnhi Reminds me of...I dunno Jojo?
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
well............ yes and no lol
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
But I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen
Although...if we’re going by the silhouette....is she scared of herself?
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
C:
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
I like that sense of not knowing what's happening? :)(edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
that will be coming up in Ch. 3 soon
so please wait till then thank u lol
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
So far it's tough to choose a fave character right now since I feel the story has just started its first segment. I would like to wait until more content is shown before I can make a firm choice? (I'm analytical, I like to go over OCs flaws and strengths once I know more about them)(edited)
I'm curious to learn about her ex crush, since we only get a glimpse of how Cara precieve him. But what is Dean really like? *Drum rolls(edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
you got.... good questions
it will be rewarded.... later on LOL
mariah (rainy day dreams)
1. What did you like about the beginning of the comic? I really liked the colors and island vibe. And this was even before Animal Crossing came out and I started hardcore living that island life I just love a good, soft pink to purple gradient generally speaking so the opening of the story was like falling into a comfy brain pillow for me. 2-4 I'm just gonna answer these ones kind of all together because they thoughts on then are all kind of threaded together into one big thought. After having read through the archive I really liked the scene with Ana and Cara. When I first read it I was like "dang, she's giving Cara such a hard time," but after having read the scenes where Cara just refused to admit to Richie she doesn't know what's going on I really retroactively appreciated Ana's willingness to call Cara on her bullshit XD I think it's a really good foil trait to have for a protagonist who seems dead set on avoiding confrontation even though it seems like doing so is most likely just gonna come back to bite her later. I imagine we aren't going to see Ana for a while though unless Cara is able to use her Phone A Friend card in the dream realm XD I am also looking forward to seeing more of the Cara doppelganger and how she and Cara interact with each other going forward. That feels like an exciting and drama filled mystery
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
1. What did you like about the beginning of the comic? I also love the atmosphere. The color choices are just so beautiful. 2. What has been your favorite moment in the comic (so far)? Ana pointing out Cara's BS hahahaha. 3. Who is your favorite character? Definitely Ana. She's so down-to-earth from what I can tell, someone I'd want to be friends with. 4. Which characters do like seeing interact the most? Probably Ana and Cara. I like to see good friendships depicted, especially in a romance. 5. What is something you like about the art? If you have a favorite illustration, please share it! In general, everything is so soft and pretty. I also really appreciate the fact that all the characters have larger noses. If I had a favorite panel, it would be at the beginning, the sunset beach waves. 6. What is a theme you like that the comic explores? So far, I'm not sure about themes, but I like the talk about the pressure parents give to their children to get married. 7. What do you like about the comic’s story or overall related content? There's a lot of mystery, so I'm looking forward to learning about Cara's dreams, Richie, and the key. 8. Overall, what do you think the comic’s strengths are? The visuals are really nice. I can't stop gushing about the color choices and the pretty atmosphere.(edited)

The way Cronaj sums up their thoughts on OiYD, I'm agreeing with the statement on Ana and Cara! Esp friendship part

My joke idea is that Cara is secretly in a reality show starring Richie and her and the bonds they play out is meant for a live broadcast. But she's clearly not agreeing to this(edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
oh god. i don't think that's good for Cara's mental state lmao

Also I have to say, I do love how the first cover is literally Cara being the meme of "Oh no he's hot"

Also I finally started it, while a bit late, I have to relate to Cara being an accountant.
Also I think my favourite panel is "Welp that worked"
Also I have to appreciate picking a pink that doesn't grate on the eyes.

I like that the beginning really contrasts the dream and Cara's reality pretty quickly. I kind of feel it catches that feeling of coming out of a dream to face reality which kind of sucks, and also plays into the themes of dream vs. reality and expectation vs. reality. It's very easy to idealize things, whether as a route of escapism or just because it sounds appealing. But the reality of things generally is always different, and I like that we're seeing this full force in the comic through Cara's perspective. And the contrasts between the two really enhance those topics. My favorite moment in the comic so far is probably when Cara meets what I assume is Dean. Cause I really loved that both parties were kind of at fault, and I also liked how quickly that convo devolved into a grumpfest, because that felt very realistic. My favorite character right now is definitely Richie, because he is ridiculous and sympathetic at the same time. I adore his exaggerated personality, while at the same time feel sorry for him since for him the memories are clearly there and like...I would not want to be in the shoes of someone where the person they loved no longer remembered them. As for character interacting the most, Cara and Richie because that entire premise of one person remembering and the other not makes for a really tense and awkward situation. It's hard to tell where it's going to go. What I like about the art is the palettes of color chosen, since there's some beautiful scenery as well as fantastic contrasts when needed to make certain moments pop (like dream vs. reality).
As for the story content, what I actually like the most is that Cara is a flawed protagonist. I've read a lot of stories where the protagonist is always 100% right in the relationship and is just eternally the victim because society pressure. But Cara has a lot more going on, since she's clearly been at fault in some interactions, and while we can sympathize with people pressuring her into relationships, she also maybe takes it too far by being avoidant of basically every relationship. However, since she has these traits, I'm more invested into her personal dilemmas since she'll actually make mistakes when dealing with stuff. Which I think this is the overall strength of the comic. Cara is just a damn good protagonist who is easily likeable but isn't perfect and whose imperfections are not just brushed off so easily.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
;_; .... thank you.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I love the story so far! When I first started, I figured it would be some sort of awkward story where Richie comes into the real world and he has to figure out how to, like, act natural, and hilarity ensues. But holy cow, Cara losing her memories, and the slide into somewhat of a horror angle - it's not something I expected (though admittedly I could have read the synopsis lol), but it's definitely something I like!(edited)

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. Do you think the people around Cara were right to try and pressure her into a relationship? Overall, what do you think the comic has to say about relationships and the themes regarding relationship pressure?
10. Is what Cara experiencing dream or reality, and where is the line between them in this case? Additionally, why do you think her dreams have the potential to become reality as opposed to other people? Also, what is the overall message underlying these themes?
11. Is Richie really just a dream Cara dreamt up, or is there something more to him? If he somehow makes it to Cara’s world, do you think he’ll be able to adjust to that reality? Also, can he win Cara over?
12. What do you think the Cara imposter is about, and what does this have to do with the entire situation? Do you think Cara will eventually remember her dreams? Lastly, what do you think Cara has in store for her as the story continues?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
9. I personally don’t think it was great of the people in Cara’s life to pressure her like that. Sure, they mean well, but it’s most likely bringing Cara’s self esteem down by a lot. I have a feeling that her dreams/reality colliding together is partially motivated by that; the pressure of pleasing society has made her....subconsciously take drastic measures?
10. I’m actually not sure! Maybe there’s a supernatural explanation to it, or it could all just be a dream. Dreams have a way of showing a person’s innermost desires or fears, so maybe Cara’s desires and fears are coming alive in response to external stress factors. So perhaps she opened a portal of sorts between the realms in some way (there’s a key!!!!).
11. Oh I’m thinking they might end up together. But the realist inside me thinks...perhaps what Cara needs isn’t romantic love, but more independent love and being able to love herself. What DOES worry me, however, is the fact that Richie seems...a bit desperate for Cara to like him. Is there a condition to his love after all? If so, that means that it’s possible he’s forced in some way to love her or make her love him. And that’s not really conducive to romance, is it?
12. Ah...the thing that makes me mystified the most. Cara seems to have a negative view of herself, since she told her to get out in the end of chapter two. However, Cara #2 seems to be pretty helpful; knocking on the door to tell her to get out of the house (which Richie has her in), so in a way letting her out. While our Cara seems to dislike her a lot, I think the key to the story would be our Cara needing to accept this double Cara to be really free. Maybe she will, maybe she won’t! But from what I can see from the story and like I’ve said earlier...maybe Cara needs to be able to find love within herself. Love for that Cara double, and enough love to become independent and not bend to society’s overwhelming pressure for outside romance. I hope she finds that as the story comes along, and know that it’s okay to not be ready for love.
As for Richie...hmm. He’s dealing with an amnesiac heroine, and adjusting to the real world. I’m sure it’s going to lead to some hilarious hijinks, but hopefully he can manage! He seems up to the task
RebelVampire
I think whether people were right to pressure Cara is a tricky gray area. On the one hand, no, they were wrong. Nobody should be forced into a relationship. But on the other hand, if you know a person is actively self-sabotaging, isn't it more correct to speak up? So to me this is maybe a situation of good intentions with bad execution. However, I do think overall the comic does say pressuring people into relationships sucks and plz don't do that cause that's how you make ppl run further away. I think it's both, because a dream is reality in a sense. I think many of us have had dreams that caused real emotional affects, whether negative or positive. So the line between them is merely the fact effects are limited. Cara have may have just found a way to cross that line and make a dream a tangible thing that has more consequences. As for why her dreams, I don't know. Maybe she's just super good at dreaming. I do think as the overall message though is that dreams are good but not when we get lost in them, because then we idealize and reject "reality" in ways that aren't healthy. I do think Richie is primarily something Cara dreamt up, but kind of not maybe. Like sure maybe Cara is idea creator, but something else was involved in making the physical reality of that idea. As for Richie adjusting to Cara's world, I'm sure it will be laughably hilarious. I do think he can sort of win Cara over, at least in the sense of being friends. Cause how can you hate Richie? I'm taking a shot in the dark and saying Cara imposter is the embodiment of Cara's missing memories but since they're just memories, all they can do is imitate. As for Cara remembering, I feel like it will be yes but I kind of want it to be no. I like the idea of them having to reform a relationship entire from scratch.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
Oo good impressions! I wish I have more to say but it would affect the story LOL. Enjoyed reading everyone's theories tho!
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Ok my turn, let's see what my head theories are: 9: I felt the same annoyance as Cara but it's a mixed feeling, Even though, people shouldn't pressure a lady on her love life, she also has a problem with being in relationships. Or I remember one quote from the story was how she 'ditched her dates by rushing to the bathroom.' although I don't know her circumstance, I do know she has issues to settle too. Relationship pressure is real, especially as a young person grows older. 10. From the comic visuals, it feels much like it's her escapism dream. The only clue I got, is that her holding a literal 'key' connecting both worlds, is evidence that both world could collide. So far, we haven't seen other people's dreams, or whether this is an unusual occurrence in the world? It seems to be a message about idealistic relationships. Since Cara seem to turn away real ones, it manifested? 11. I'm curious about Richie's character too. He seems like a powerful imagination, enough to sway the lead, so he's more than a simple figment. I wonder if his submissive, flirtatious (?) personality was build in him. He doesn't seem to have a 'life' outside his dream house, or so far. 12. I'm not sure whether the 'Other Cara' might be trying to help her or is that.. actually a shadow side? I don't want to say too much, but it's interesting to see where the story goes.(edited)
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Oh! You make a good point about Richie; I never thought about that! Do you think maybe he's simply a part of Cara and eventually gains his own sentience/personality?
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Hehe I like analyzing dreams :3 In dream theory, I feel he could be? I was more skeptical whether he should be treated as a real character or something else.(edited)
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
man this does make me want to look up dream psychology
i have a feeling...Tuyetnhi is using some theories from that
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
Hmmmm dream psychology you say?
I guess you can say there's some elements of that, but it's not a major chunk of it if that makes sense lol

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!

13. Maintaining the will power to finish OIYD! so I can see it as its end lmao. As a passion project but also something that I want to invest in when I have the time, I hope ya'll looking forward in reading Ch. 3 very soon lol.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
13. I really want to see how both Cara and Richie will develop as characters. Whether Cara will figure out for herself what being both independent means....and whether she does want a relationship for herself and not for other people. Likewise with Richie, I want to see if he'll be able to be his own person...and whether he's real or not. I have a lot of questions that I want to be answered, and I can't wait to keep reading.
14. Tuyetnhi, good luck on the webcomic. It's hard to start one and even harder to pull off a good one, and I know yours is a good one. I really look forward to reading more from you. You're amazing (edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
thank you
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
13. I'm interested in learning more about Cara's conflicts, why she is hesitant about having a real relationship vs her dream one? I love the unexpected dark twist that the story seems to be going. 14. I want to say, no pressure and take your time to complete the chapter. Just know you have my support and willing to read when it is ready. Good luck
RebelVampire
I'm looking forward to more Richie being Richie. Because he is an adorable person. And also because I'm waiting for some 'reality' culture shock. My final words are that this comic has a strong themes game going on and an intriguing premise, so it'll be fun to see where the comic is in a few more chapters since I'm pretty sure we're in for a wild ride.

hello!!! i just have to say i binged your superhero au today and im obsessed 😍😍 definitely my favorite one out there! i was wondering 2 things- one, would you mind if i drew for your au? and two, if thats ok, i was wondering more about what their hero outfits looked like! your fic gave some description, i was just curious 😊 sorry if this is a lot ahh!! have a lovely day!!
Oh my god! Thank you so much! It really means a lot to me that you liked it so much! And of course you can draw for it!! God lord of course that is such an honor! Which losers costumes were you thinking?
Richie - Richie’s costume is a literal blue jumpsuit, like one mechanics or factory workers wear, picture ghostbusters but blue. He wears a bandolier around his chest of water capsules as well as a jug of water tied to his hip for drinking and power uses. He wears a pair of large goggle over his eyes in place of an eye mask and big heavy steel toed combat boots.
Eddie - Eddie’s suit gold with deep red accent colors. His knee high boots and elbow length combat gloves are this deep red along with the shoulders and collar of his costume. His eye mask is deep red with gold lining and a large golden eight point star is on the center of his chest.
Bill - Bill’s suit is black and yellow, mostly all black except for his forearms, shoulders and the image of Athena’s owl stitched onto the chest. He wears a loose belt around hips, a place where silver can rest when she is not needed and a dope ass leather jacket. (Like 90’s Kon from Superboy)
Bev - Bev’s suit is dark blue and brilliant red. Because her skin is almost impenetrable, her costume resembles more of a long sleeved gymnastics leotard with a hood. She wears heavy steal lined red gloves that come to her wrists and flat red sensible shoes that help her be quick as well as strong. Her eye mask is navy blue and the body of her suit has two bright red stripes running up the side.
Stan - Stan’s suit is all black. His codename is Ghost and he feels like he should keep to the name by dressing as stealthy as he possibly can. He wears a black eye mask along with a black hood so he face hide better in the shadows. His shoes are made of almost only fabric, quietest when moving, with small rubber lining to help with running and combat.
Mike - Mike’s suit takes on the colors of the flower he named himself after, the bloodroot. The base color of his suit is black while his forearms, calves and shoulders are white, all which have yellow lining. His mask is pure white with yellow lining and the symbol on his chest is the Bloodroot.
Ben - Ben’s suit is his own design, top tier engineering and design went into making his suit along with his special gift to help without need of welding. His body is incased inside a heavy suit of medieval armor, though sleek and modern looking it weighs almost half a ton. But because of his power this weight means nothing to him and he can also use it to fly in his suit.
Georgie - Georgie’s suit is all white underneath, no one really can tell with his billowing black-blue cloak always around his suit. The large good of his cloak is almost always up, showing only his mouth and a pair of white vacant eyes. He carries a shovel with him, jokes that it’s what Hades dug him up with, which Bill finds not funny in the SLIGHTEST.

Birds of Paradise (Stanlon AU)
Summary: Mike is a tattoo apprentice next door to a flower shop, and he needs flowers before his mom’s flight comes in. Now he meets Stanley, the man who runs the shop with the flowers, and is actually kind of cute now that he thinks about it. (It’s chapter one from Mike’s perspective).
Words: 3,891
ao3
A/N: Wow, I posted chapter one on December 20th, 2017 and I’m uploading this one September 28th, 2019. I totally did not mean to leave it this long but I guess I was plagued with all the regular excuses: I got caught up with school work, lost most interest in the fandom, didn’t feel attached to the piece anymore, etcetera. I felt bad for leaving this abandoned, especially when I had half of chapter two written already, I just needed to finish it. I wrote the other half so here it is. Do I have a plan for chapter three? Yes. Do I have anything written? No. I don’t know if or when chapter three will be written but here’s chapter two.
One / Two / Three
Mike didn’t give much thought to the buildings around his work; they were all just the surrounding area and they were buildings that he passed-  a part of his scenery. There was an electronics store, a small music shop, and the flower store, it was all just a part of the day to day that he started living.
When his mom called from the airport in Augusta, and told him that her and his grandmother were on their way to visit, he was frantic. Mike was trying to remember the last time he cleaned his apartment, if he had enough room in the apartment to keep his parents, if he had enough food for dinner, if he left the Chinese take out on the counter where his cat could get it, and shit, the flowers.
(His mother always loved flowers. After his father died when Mike was a teenager he promised himself that he would always get her flowers when he visited back home, when she came down, or on random days when he felt like he should do something nice and he would order them in Derry. It wasn’t something that his mom demanded, or that anyone demanded, but it was his own rule that he planned to stick to for the rest of his life, and the flower store next to his work would help mike put his mind at ease.)
Mike probably wore his anxiousness about the circumstances like a coat, it was all over him: thinking about when his mom and grandma were coming in, how fast he could make his apartment look presentable, how many dishes he left in the sink, how to dodge questions about what his plan was and when he was going to settle down and move out of that small apartment and get a nice house with someone, what time their flight was arriving and how he was going to find enough time to walk back home after work, get his car, and meet them at the airport to pick them up.
He had spent most of the morning working with Richie on some of his sketches and composition. Mike couldn’t tattoo yet because he didn’t have his license and he was just an apprentice at this shop, so his job right now was to help out in any way while Bev and Richie taught him how to tattoo when they had particularly slow or client-less days (they had him start on bananas before they would start making ads out for a free, apprentice done tattoos, so he could learn before permanently defacing someone’s skin). This morning, Richie had gone to mike for suggestion of placement and color choices and Mike helped him.
After Mike finished, he cleaned up the lobby and the desk and reorganized everything; he kept thinking about everything that he had to deal with when he got home. He thought of everything he absolutely had to do (1) clean the apartment, at least put the dishes in the dishwasher, (2) clean up his bedroom. (His mom and grandma would be sharing his bed and he would sleep on the couch. Mike can’t give them a dirty room with clothes and random things thrown around all over the floor of his bedroom), and (3) get the flowers for them.
Then at lunch time Mike got all of their lunches from the Chinese place a couple blocks away and they all ate lunch together in the breakroom that is just one of the small rooms that they had in the back. One room was Bev’s tattoo room, one was their breakroom, and the last was Mike’s tattoo room (that wasn’t getting much use yet, as he hasn’t started tattooing yet). Richie’s ‘room’ was open and a part of the main lobby so that everyone who went into the tattoo parlor could see him do his work.
After lunch was Mike’s break, and he decided to get on to his list of must-dos. His break was only fifteen minutes long and he didn’t think he’d have enough time to go home and clean up AND get flowers so he decided to one of two. He could straighten up (more like shove everything either in his closet or under his bed) while he was playing host but he couldn’t put off flowers, so that’s what he did. Mike thanked the lord that there was a florist right next door that he passed by everyday on the way to work.  It worked better than him having to go all the way across town or making phone calls for all of his fifteen minute break.
Mike made his way on the sidewalk, and looked at the building, at the yellowish paint on the outside and the dark, almost army green paint that made the window sill. He had never given the shop much thought; it was just another shop of the many on their street, but now it was a savior in a day where he needed every miracle he could salvage.
The ding of the bell over the door almost distracted Mike from his thoughts until he saw the tall shelves and the green leaves and blotches of pink, yellow, red, and white petals all around the room.
Mike heard the clang of something setting on the table and he turned to the noise, seeing a man setting a clay pot on the counter that he could see through the door. The guy had hair cropped short and curled a little bit on the top, a green button down with a name curled in embroidery above the breast pocket. He had dirt stained gloves covering his hands.
The man turned to Mike. “Hi, how can I help you?”
Mike played with his hands, bending back his knuckles and fidgeting, before he spoke. “My mom and grandma are coming into town for a visit and I need anything you can throw together.”
Was that too much information? Should Mike have just asked for two bouquets?
“Alright,” the guy said. “I can set you up.”
Mike felt something come off his shoulders. At least he could get the flowers for them, if he couldn’t clean and he couldn’t cook something, at least he could keep the promise he made for himself for his mom. The man took off his gloves. “When are they coming in?”
Mike took a breath. “Tonight.”
Mike leaned over the counter, putting his hands on the cool yellow counter. “They surprised me with a call while they were at the airport and I can’t call 1800 flowers, not after last time.”
Mike tried not to think about the bad time when he was very, very desperate and he did call 1800 flowers and it did not go how he wanted. Mike hoped never to call them again.
The man nodded his head, which gave Mike a little bit of solace, “Okay, we can do this. Do you know what flowers or what colors they like?”
Mike was relieved, it won’t be the worst thing because mike will get the flowers, he’ll find a way to clean the apartment, he’ll manage to fix something good to eat, and he’ll make sure that everything goes well between now and when they board their plane back. And, the man behind the counter asked the question that Mike definitely knew the answer to.
“My mom likes irises and the color yellow and my grandma likes all the small pink flowers- that I do know.”
The man behind the counter smiled, it was small and not forced, like he was smiling at mike. Mike smiled in return and tapped his fingers on the counter.
“Yeah, we can do that. Give me a quick minute to pull out some stuff from the back and let’s see what we can make up, yeah?”
Mike nodded and let himself rest for just a second, leaning over the counter and putting his upper body weight on his elbows.
The man with the curly hair disappeared into the back of the door through a beige swinging door and Mike waited.
Behind the counter (and around the store) were mostly shelves of small flower pots with flowers working to take up space around the store. There was also a piece of framed pink paper, but the writing was too faint for Mike to read. There was a photograph, framed in an old gold decorative frame; It was a picture of what looked to be two young boys in a garden. Mike can’t see the boys faces but one has curly hair down past his jaw, so Mike assumes it’s pictures of the man, the guy who works at this little flower shop.
There were empty pots altogether, different than the ones that the flowers were held in.  These were more decorative and had little designs carved into them. They had a little sign in the middle that said, ‘you want one of these pots to be your own? ask for details!’
The door suddenly swung open and there he was, arms full of cup sized, plastic pots of flowers, ones like he described to the flower shop man. “It was two bouquets, right?”
“Uh, yeah.” Mike choked out.
The man sat down all the little pots on the counter and Mike leaned in closer to have a better look at the flowers. The man began separating them into groups, by the colors Mike could see what the man- a quick look at his name tag- Stanley, was thinking. “This is what I’m thinking: we have the irises and we have the yellow pansies to make the purple stand out. Then we have some orange poppies to make the blue in the irises stand out. We just need something white or cream colored to make all the other colors stand out.”
Mike understood what he was saying. The color theory and the complements of colors, it was all basic information that was in the back of his head as an artist. Wait- “Aren’t there flowers that look like this-” Mike left his fingers brush against the yellow flowers, the pansies- “but, like, smaller and cream colored? I think I did a piece with them a few weeks ago. Johnny somethings.”
“Johnny Jump Ups.” Stanley said almost immediately. “I think I have some of them, not a lot of people ask for them. Let me check.”
Back through the door he went and Mike watched him go. This Stanley sure is cute, he thought without realizing. Then realizing, mike took in the thought and let it simmer until Stanley came back through the door with another tiny flower.
“These are perfect.” He showed Mike the tiny flowers. He was right in his memory of the flowers, small, white and they looked like the yellow pansies but an off white with light purple faded on the ends of each petal. Stanley was right. With the other flowers, the Johnny Jump Ups were perfect in composition. “They’re small enough to fill up space but pretty enough they’re not out of place.”
“Yeah, I did a few flashes with them, I got used to drawing them.” With the florist’s confused look, Mike explained. “I’m an apprentice at the tattoo parlor next door, it was such a relief to have this shop next door with them coming to town.”
“Oh, yeah cool. I guess you do a lot of flower stuff.”
Mike laughed. That fact was true. Even though he mostly helps with drawings and compositions he has drawn a lot more flowers since getting a job at the parlor next door. “Yeah, almost once a day, probably even more once I’m not an apprentice and I’m a fully licensed artist.”
“That’s really cool.”
Mike smiled at the man in front of him. Along with cute, the florist was sweet. This didn’t feel like a transaction only conversation. It felt like Mike was talking to a friend, or a more than friend.
“And for your grandma’s set I was thinking these peonies with the carnations and the light purple petunias. It’s a lot softer than the other one.”
“You thought of all of that on the spot back there?” Mike asked, curious. “Are you a wizard?”
“Yes. The flower wizard, making sure that everyone has something pretty.” Cute, sweet, and funny.
“Good, I would only trust a flower wizard to make these bouquets.” Stanley let out a little laugh before he paused.
“So you like the idea? The flowers all together?”
Mike nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah, it’s amazing, perfect, thank you.”
Stanley behind the counter reached out for a pad of paper, and began writing, what Mike assumed what his order was. After scribbling for a moment, Stanley spoke again. “Can I get your name?”
“Michael. Mike Hanlon.”
“Alright, I’ll get this form all filled out for you. You said they were coming in tonight, when will you need them by?”
Mike stopped. He didn’t want Stanley to quit everything to work on his. He didn’t want to be a disruption. “Don’t drop other stuff to get mine done quickly. I don’t want you to-“
Stanley stopped him quick enough. “Mike, it’s two bouquets. I can do them pretty quick. What time do you need them done?”
Mike thought about it. Mike got off work at six o’clock on the dot. The plane arrived at 6:45 so he would want to leave as soon as he got off work, but he had a ten or fifteen minute leeway if he wanted to clean a little bit before he left for the airport. “I can come by before 6, or you could drop them off in the parlor considering that our door goes into my room.”
“I always wondered what I’d find on the other side. I guess I didn’t want to accidentally run into something awkward or something.”
Mike laughed. It felt like the conversation was coming to and end and Mike didn’t want that end to come. Maybe Mike could see Stanley again when he didn’t need flowers, maybe to dinner, a date perhaps? “Just little ol’ me. Thank you so much for doing this, on such short notice.”
“It’s no problem, honestly. I’m just going to need your phone number to complete the order form.” Mike felt a little smirk grow on his face and he spoke before he could really think through the words coming out of his mouth.
“And not for yourself? I’m hurt.”
Stanley smiled back at him. “I guess I’ll have to use it for myself too then, just so that your feelings aren’t hurt.”
That was a step in a good direction. Mike threw a little more into the flirting. “Good. It’d be a shame if I find this cute guy and he wouldn’t call me on a professional courtesy.”
“Well, what is that phone number?” Mike told him the phone number, and read the paper Stnaley was writing on to make sure it was written down correctly. Mike pulled out his phone and opened a new contact page. When Stanley looked up from the notepad, Mike held out his phone to him.
“How will I know it’s the cute flower shop guy who’s calling me and not one of my clients?”
Stanley took the phone and began typing. “I guess I can give it to you then, just so you don’t get confused with one of your clients and not so you can text me later and ask me to hang out.”
Mike’s mood couldn’t be lifted any further than it is now. “Or something else?”
“Or something else,” Stanley agreed. He went back to the order forms and ripped one copy, the yellow copy, from the white copy. “These are your receipts.”
When Stanley held out the piece of paper for Mike to grab, mike made is so that their fingers brushed against each other. “Thank you for doing this, Stanley; it means a lot.”
“Stan,” Stanley, or Stan corrected. “or Stanley, if you prefer.”
“Okay, Stan. I think my break’s about to end soon, so I should probably be getting back before they fire me or something.” Mike pulled out his wallet and paid for his flowers after looking at the price on his receipt. After he finished and everything was finished up, Stan spoke up.
“I’ll be by. Before six, that’s what you said?”
“Yeah, thank you so much for this.”
Stan chuckled. “It’s my job to make bouquets, you don’t have to thank me.”
“That doesn’t mean I don’t have to thank you.” Mike glanced at his watch, then made sure to finish up before he was supposed to be back to work. “Now I really have to go, but I’ll see you later.”
“See you later.”
<hr>
It was almost quitting time. Mike was drawing some flashes and waiting for Stan to come by like he said he would. Every few minutes Mike would glance at the door that was the barrier between his room and what supposedly was the backroom to Stan’s flower shop.
Mike heard a quick knock knock on his door then heard the creak of the hinges. “Mikey? You gotta visitor!”
Mike looked up and then saw Stan behind Beverly. Stan stood there in the same uniform as before, except in his hands he held flower bouquets. Seeing Stan again made him smile- even though he only met the man that day and there wasn’t anything mind-blowing or earth shattering about their interaction that afternoon. “Thanks Bevvie.”
Beverly stood there and waited. Stan walked through the door, standing beside Beverly rather than behind her. Mike put his pencil down and faced them. With a little push towards his friend, he spoke.“You can leave now, Bev.”
“Maybe I want to stay and watch the show. Stanley wouldn’t mind, would you, Stanley?”
Mike stood up and stood facing Bev. He put his hand out and slightly pushed Bev back out of the doorway. He put a smile on his face and used his fingers to wave goodbye to her as he closed the door. Her face was priceless, as long as she knew him, she had never seen him with someone.
“Y’all best not be fucking when I check on you!” She shouted.
“Yeah, Bev’s not the kindest one in the bunch she’s cool.” Mike said, rubbing the skin on the back of his neck, a little embarrassed by his boss and good friend.
“Yeah, I know. I’m friends with her boyfriend.” Stan told him. He shot a questioning glance then shook it away. Mike had only met Bev’s boyfriend a few times, and they didn’t really talk. It was when he came by to eat lunch with Bev or the one day he got romantic and brought her a bouquet of flowers. She said he was like that all the time. “Oh, here are your flowers!”
Mike almost forgot that Stan was here to do his job and deliver flowers. “Oh yeah.”
Mike took the flowers from Stan’s hands and held them up and looked at them. They looked amazing; better than the last florist he went to when he still loved across town. “These look better than what you made in the shop. How do you do it?”
Stan smiled. “I thought we talked about that, I’m a flower wizard.”
“Oh right of course.”
Mike sat in his chair, which he rolled so that he was closer to Stan. Mike watched as Stan looked around the room, then later at the drawings he had around his desk.
“You did all those drawings? They’re amazing.” Stan stood up from his seat and stepped closer to look at the drawings. Objectively, Mike knew he was a good artist, otherwise he wouldn’t have gone into the profession of professional person who did mostly permanent art, but he still felt a little shy about people complimenting him on his artwork.
“Thanks,” Mike said. Before he backed out and lost the courage he thought he had, he opened up the conversation. “I actually wanted to ask you something?”
Stan turned away from the drawings and faced Mike. Mike looked at his face and he felt more nervousness bubble in his stomach.“Yeah, sure, ask away.”
Mike bit his lip, and began fidgeting with his hands, his index finger was scratching at his thumb. He was nervous because what if there was a rejection under their previous conversations. What if Stan didn't want the same things as him?
“Maybe, if you’re free and if you wanted to, you want to go see a movie with me? Maybe Friday night?”
Stan held a small smile. “Are you asking me out on a date, Mike?”
Mike’s stomach dropped in fear. Did Mike misread all the flirting they had that afternoon? Did Stan not like guys?Did Stan not want this? “Did I read this the wrong way or?”
“No,” Stan said quickly. ”No, just making sure. I want to go on a date with you. I think we’d have a fun time.”
Mike shoulders dropped and a smile spread across his face in the acceptance. “Okay, cool, yeah.”
Stan and Mike waited in the room in silence, a comfortable one. Mike was glad he met Stan, and was happy that Stan agreed to go on a date with him. Mike felt good, almost a better happy then the satisfied content he'd been feeling for a while.
“I should probably get going back to my store.” Stan spoke softly. Mike took a deep breath. He didn’t want Stan to leave so quickly, but then again, Mike had a lot of things to get done before the night was over. “I think maybe you should use my number when you figure out what movie we’re going to see.”
“Yeah, I definitely will.” Mike was already going through what he knew was playing at the theatre, what he thought would make a good date night movie, and one the thought Stan would like.
Stan reached his hand out and touched Mike’s shoulder. Mike could feel the fingers around his muscle and the contact set him on the edge of his seat. “I guess I’ll see you on Friday?”
Mike became a little bolder, “Not unless I visit tomorrow.”
Stan smirked. “The store’s usually slowest in the morning, just for future reference.”
A knock came at the door and Mike jumped at the sudden noise. Then he heard his sweet, dear friend (a friend whom he might kill later), Bev’s voice come through the door. “Boys! What’s going on in there?”
Stan walked closer to the door and put his hand on the door knob and let him turn the knob and open the door to Beverly who had her ear pressed to the door. When the door was away from her face, she slowly stood up straight. “Have you been standing here the whole time?”
“No,” Beverly stated, very quick with her response. she shrugged. “You think I’d waste my time eavesdropping on my dear, dear friends?”
“Yes,” Mike answered. “You definitely would.”
Stan walked past her and turned around to Mike. “You’ll text me later?”
Mike nodded his head with a smile and Beverly looked between them with her head turning back and forth like she was watching a tennis match. Stan laughed at her.
“Well, I’ll see you later then.”

Ooooh is love to hear more about Daphne! Does she have a favourite book or film? Is she more girly or tomboy or both? Milkshakes or floats? Just anything! 💕
Ackkk! Thank you so much my dear!!!
Before she met the Losers’ Club, I would like to think that Daphne would find any reason to visit the library for a good read. If she could find any excuse to stay in without having to leave her room, she would. I think she would like something along the lines of Lord of the Rings because she has quite the imagination and she is a bit of a geek with her favorite and only film series being Star Wars. She is also a fan of the classics because her mother was an English major in college and occasionally cracks open her books whenever she misses her a little extra (her mother is in and out of the hospital).
I would have to say that after meeting the boys, she definitely becomes a tomboy, but she still retains a girly side. She is very meek and shy prior to meeting the group, but after they accept her for just being her, she begins to break out of her bubble. Her favorite thing to do growing up is mess with Richie because he would always talk about his mad flirting skills and she would enjoy watching him get nervous around her when she flirted back. She doesn’t know about Richie’s secret, but only when she finds out years later does she apologize for her actions.
Definitely a milkshake person. She and Richie share the same preference of a Snickers milkshake. Daphne would prefer drinking her ice cream and soda separate; huge Cookies n’ Cream and Dr. Pepper lover. I would like to think she matches with Bill on ice cream and Beverly on soda.
Daphne also has a huge crush on Stanley Uris when they were younger and they could’ve progressed, but he was too traumatized with the events to think about anything else. Believe it or not, Richie will be Daphne’s first and last kiss during her years in Derry ;DDDD

Eddie Kaspbrak’s Bittersweet Memories- Chapter Two
Eddie awoke the next day with dry tears stuck to his face and a shiver down his spine as he remembered the previous day's events. As he had yet to open his eyes, he blindly felt around his bed for Beverly and let out a breath he had been keeping in when the space beside him was free from the red-haired girl. God knows what his mother would do to him if she found any girl, let alone Beverly Marsh, in his bed.
The blinds on Eddie’s window were pushed to the side as a result of Bev using it as her escape route, so as he reluctantly opened his eyes the sun poured directly into them, making him wince and shut them tightly once again. He wasn’t ready to face the day. He wasn’t ready to accept the fact that Richie was gone. So with a loud groan, Eddie rolled over and shoved his face further into his pillow. A crunching sound startled him slightly, however, and he lifted his cheek up to reveal a crumpled piece of paper that was sat on top of his pillow. He sat up and unfolded the paper in his hands, blinking gently as his eyes attempted to adjust to the light.
“Eddie, in case you were wondering why it was breezy in your room, I woke up really early and went out through the window so that your Mum wouldn’t see me. If you wanted to hang out later, just send me a text and we can meet wherever you want. Lots of love, Beverly Marsh x”
Eddie chucked the paper to the end of his bed and flopped back down hard onto his mattress, another groan escaping his lips. He grabbed his phone from beside his pillow and clicked the home button to check the time, which read 9:46. He knew that he wouldn’t have any messages from Richie, but still, there was a piece of his heart that sunk when he saw that the only message he had received was from his mother, letting him know she would be back late again.
Eddie figured his best option at that current point in time would be to simply stay in bed all day and hide from the world. However, his plans quickly ceased the second he placed his phone back down onto the mattress as it began vibrating. It was the custom vibration that Richie had set on Eddie’s phone for when he received calls - basically just a mixture of short and long vibrations that Richie knew would surely irritate Eddie to no end. It made him want to cry so badly, but Eddie let out a sigh and with his eyes still closed, he swiped at the bottom of the screen until the vibration stopped and placed the device to his ear.
“Hello?” He mumbled in a grumpy tone.
“Morning, Sunshine!” Bill greeted, and just a touch too loudly for Eddie’s ears just after he had woken up. “Hurry up and get ready, we are all meeting at the quarry in 20 minutes.”
“I’m sorry, Bill. I’m not going anywhere today. Mum uh… - Mum wants me to clean the house.” Eddie fibbed. He felt bad lying to one of his best friends, but he had to. At least for now, anyway. “You know how she gets. She’ll freak if she comes home and there’s even one thing out of place.”
“Oh,” Bill said gently. “Well, that’s okay. No stress.” Eddie could hear the soft smile and be grateful that Bill didn’t push the topic any further, meaning he could spend the rest of his day in bed and isolated away from the rest of society.
Eddie realised after a moment that neither of them had spoken for a minute or so, so Eddie said, “I’ll see you guys later, okay?”
“Yeah, of course!” Bill chirped in reply. Eddie hit the hang up button without saying another word, then put his phone on do not disturb, tossed it carelessly onto the bedside table and proceeded to fall back into a restless sleep, this time without Bev by his side.
-
“Eddie Bear! Where are you?!” Were the words that startled Eddie awake in bed later that day. He rolled over onto his side to face his door, waiting for his mother to barge through at any second and furiously rubbed his tired eyes with his fists.
“I’m in here, Mum,” he called out, his voice thick and heavy with sleep.
“Oh, Eddie!” Sonia said as she opened the door. “I was so worried! I was calling your phone and you weren’t answering, I thought something had happened to you!”
Eddie pulled back his doona slightly and sat up, still rubbing his hands over his exhausted face as he tried to wake up. “I’m fine, I was just taking a nap.” He felt guilty for lying to his own mother, but what else was he supposed to tell her? That his boyfriend of a year and a half left the state without telling anyone? That his heart and soul were crushed and in pieces? That all he wanted to do was sleep, just so that he didn’t have to face the reality of his life? He would rather do anything else in the entire world then tell his Mum those things. So no matter the amount of pain that he was going through from what Richie had done, he knew deep down that telling Sonia Kaspbrak - the biggest homophobe in all of Derry - all of these things, would be 20 times more painful.
“Well, something is wrong. Are you sick?” Sonia was always able to read Eddie like a book, and he hated it more than anything. But over the years Eddie had gotten particularly skilled at coming up with realistic lies on the spot - ones that weren’t so basic that they were unbelievable, but also not so complicated that it would leave him in the doctors. And he knew that even if it was just a simple cold, his Mum would be frantically rushing Eddie into the car to get to the nurses' station.
“No, Mum, don’t worry. I’m not sick. I was just…” Eddie blanked for a moment. His head felt so fuzzy, and for the first time ever he was struggling to come up with a reasonable excuse that his mother would actually believe. So he went with the first thing that popped into his head. It was an excuse he had most definitely used before, but he was hoping she wouldn’t question it. “I just didn’t sleep too well last night, I guess,” he said with a shrug of his shoulders, trying to play it off as not a big deal. He reached over and grabbed the corner of the doona, just to have something to fiddle with as he waited for his mother to leave the room. His eyes were trying so hard not to roll to the back of his head as sleep attempted to take over his body.
“Hmmm,” Sonia pondered. She watched Eddie carefully as if trying to decide whether or not he was lying to her. But then again, Mrs Kaspbrak would never raise her son to lie to her. So she simply nodded her head and left the room as she shouted, “don’t fall back asleep, Eddie Bear! I don’t need my sweet baby boy ruining his perfect sleeping schedule!”
Eddie pulled a grim face and stuck his tongue out at the door his mother had just walked out of, then leant over and grabbed his phone before flopping back down onto his mattress. He clicked the home screen hoping to find out what the time was, and instead was taken aback by the number of text messages he had missed throughout the day. He saw the 6 messages and 3 phone calls he had missed from his mother, but as he scrolled down he noticed many messages all from his friends.
From: Bill - Bev just told us all what happened. Do you want us to come around?
From: Ben - I don’t have any words, Eddie. I’m so sorry
From: Stanley - I'm kicking Richie’s ass all the way to Egypt, I swear to god
From: Mike - We’ll be over tomorrow with ice cream and some movies. Are there any other snacks you want?
From: Beverly - I hope you’re not mad at me for telling them, Eddie. We will all come over tomorrow around 8 in the morning for a movie day.
Eddie couldn’t deny that he was a little grumpy at Bev for telling them all what had happened. But he was too tired to really care all that much. So despite the fact that it was only 7 pm, and despite the fact he had slept for the entire day, all Eddie wanted to do was drift off into an easy and dreamless sleep, but he knew that wasn’t possible. He didn’t bother replying to any of his friends, and instead, he put his phone back on the bedside table and let out a small sigh as he laid back down on his pillow.
As soon as Eddie’s head hit the pillow, a strangled sob escaped his lips. And all too quickly he couldn’t hold back the tears as his emotions became too overwhelming. It was Richie and the fact that he left. It was how alone he felt, even though he was surrounded by his friends. It was the caring messages they had sent him and the fact that he didn’t care that they cared. It was that every part of him was in so much pain that all he wanted to do was cry and scream and sleep.
He covered his mouth to try and hold back his choking sobs. If his Mum heard Eddie crying, Lord knows what he would tell her. So he simply shoved his face directly into his pillow and cried until it felt like his eyes had run out of tears. It felt like it was long overdue, to cry and cry until his throat felt raw and his chest ached and his face was sticky from tears. And it felt like hours before his body was so tired and heavy that he eventually tossed and turned as he drifted into a tense and uncomfortable sleep.
His rest only lasted a couple of hours when he heard a noise coming from outside his window. In his exhausted state, Eddie smiled brightly and followed the usual routine as he leant over to look through the already open glass pane, expecting Richie to be down there waiting to be let in. It was something they did pretty much every single night for the last year or so - Richie would be feeling needy and alone, and therefore would drive over to Eddie's house for a cuddle. He would throw small stones at the window, knowing his boyfriend would be sleeping peacefully in that tiny single bed. Eddie would let him in and they would snuggle and talk and Richie would say he would leave as soon as Eddie fell asleep. He never did. He would catch one glimpse at how soft and lovely Eddie’s face looked, and think to himself that he never wanted to be away from this precious boy. Of course, that meant Richie had to haul ass in the morning and get out before Sonia Kaspbrak found him.
When Eddie looked out the window, still so hopeful. But when he realised it was just a branch that was continually knocking against the window, and the reality that Richie was in California hit him once again, Eddie sighed loudly and crawled back over to the head of his bed. He had never felt so alone in his entire life.
And after being woken up another 3 times in the night by the exact same branch, Eddie rolled over and checked his phone to see it was just after 8 am, and he had several texts from his friends saying they would be there any minute. Eddie loved his friends to pieces, of course he did. But he wasn’t sure what he couldn’t handle more: seeing them when he was in this state, or them seeing him when he was in this state.
Eddie could feel his chest beginning to tighten and his breaths becoming more shallow as the seconds passed by. He couldn’t even remember the last time he had used his inhaler, but he knew he needed it right now. The more he thought about having to discuss what happened with Richie to his friends, the more clouded his mind felt and the faster his breathing became. Eddie hastily got out of bed and searched around in his school bag for his inhaler, his intense thoughts building up more and more. He quickly took a couple pumps of the inhaler and his breaths became more regular as he sat back down on his bed.
He breathed in and out several more times with another 2 puffs of Asmol in between when he heard someone calling from downstairs.
“Eddie?” It was loud enough to be clear and for him to hear, but as he still felt quite dizzy, Eddie couldn’t tell which of his friends had called out to him. He rested on the edge of his bed for a few more seconds to let his lightheadedness drift away as he prepped himself to face them, then finally left his room for the first time in 2 days.
“Hey, guys,” he said softly as he reached the bottom step. His friends were all gathered in the small living room of the Kaspbrak household, movies and snacks and overnight bags dropped by their feet.
“Eddie!” Beverly cheered with a smile. She ran up to the small boy and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. “How are you?”
“Could be better, I guess,” Eddie said with a chuckle and a fake smile as they pulled away from the embrace. He suddenly remembered the text message she had sent him last night, and he grabbed her by the shoulders and whispered in her ear. “By the way, I’m not mad at you for telling them. It was probably easier this way, anyway. I don’t think I could have done it myself.”
Instead of saying anything, Beverly simply nodded her head and smiled brightly at Eddie, then grabbed his hand and dragged him down the last step to join their friends.
“So, what first?” Eddie started hesitantly. “An awkward conversation about Richie, or movies and snacks?”
