Every time I see advertisements for the third season of Bridgerton I'm forever thankful I gave up that liberal covid escapism show after season 2 when I realized that we were actually supposed to be rooting for the main character who exposed a black pregnant teenager and a feminist activist, and that there would be no lasting consequence for that because this show is really all about preserving social order and maintaining the nuclear family. why look at class segregation when you can look at these shirtless colonizers.

The colors of the copper on blackberry dye seem to have shifted from maroon to a very rich milk chocolate brown--which I will hardly complain about, since that's a hard brown to get. I do hope I get something more permanently reddish/purplish with alum--that's what I'll try next. I'm just waiting for the 9 pounds of raw fleece to arrive.
Last night I carded a lot of that blackberry dyed fleece and then put it on the blending board with about half of the white (which was the previous distaff dressing) as a little stripe to one side. Idk, just curious how it'll turn out and seemed more interesting to spin that way. Carding first definitely helps with consistency--both colors were willowed first and put on the blending board, but only the brown was carded as well, and it is much easier to keep smooth and least kind of even.
The one improvement of this phone camera over my old one is that it has a timer setting, so I can actually show where my hands normally are (sometimes anyway). Fairly comfortable although my distaff hand is starting to cramp. Might just be one of those days or might be too heavy for me, but the shape at least is good.
You can probably see that the white is still all over the place, but the brown is pretty even, just with lumps still on occasion. Also, the new height of this spindle means it's perfect for lap spinning rather than impossible to lap spin with, so I'm very happy about that.

For the three-sentence fic meme: Combeferre and Grantaire.
"Fae are but man's wildest, purest, most hedonistic instincts: remember Snow White's iron-red shoes, Erzebet's virginal baths, Rebecca Black's parents, and recall that this is merely the seelie court's slow Tuesday; in 1896, Homer's thirst defined the law of the land until Oliver smote it down 58 years later: it is from this that we derive our understanding of 'fair folk' and their estimation of that blind, calculating lady we call Justice; if I were seated as judge on this lucky court, I would cut her bindings, slash at her blindfold, and undo her gag; alas, that steadfast and fickle foe numbers (that is to say, my GPA) held me fast from my Ivy-laden dreams of law, and I am barred from serving that most judicious duty of the land alongside my peers."
Combeferre stares at Grantaire a long beat before announcing, "I'm still checking out the lights under the hill."
"Swag, right behind you."

btw americans if you wanna support your library and want to watch a well known movie without pirating it you can usually find it on hoopla or kanopy if your library has an ecard system.
most of the time you don't even have to leave the house to apply for an ecard. if your library doesn't have hoopla (or you want access to kanopy, or a bigger audiobook/digital book library in general) most of the time you can look up "[your county name] reciprocal borrow program" and apply for a neighboring county's library ecards and use their digital libraries. you usually don't have to leave the house to apply for these either!

I’ve finished the third Fëanorian Week drawing. Only four more to go.... In the meantime, here’s another Star Trek post for you because 1. it’s April Fool’s Day which makes me want to post something funny, and 2. I just recently finished the third TOS season and am in denial about having run out of new episodes. But now it’s on to the movies!
I’m sure this joke has been made before, but I can’t believe this was literally a plot point in an episode.
Transcription:
[Garth as Kirk:] “Shoot him, he’s the clone!”
[Spock:] “The real Kirk would never pass up an opportunity to die!”

*duckduckgo-s "what's the biggest species of antelope" out of curiosity, and trying to avoid the new ai nonsense pretending to be an answer on google*
first result: top 10 biggest antelopes in the world
every other result after that: claims one animal as the True biggest, except every single page is naming a different species
anyway, it's the Giant Eland with basically no contest

Okay this may sound really stupid but I’ve read a lot of fanfics through the years and although I have a creative mind that comes up with scenario’s I’ve never managed to write it out myself. Today was the day I tried for the first time because my brain came up with such a lovely idea that I just didn’t want to loose.
But here’s the thing, why does it feel like I’m doing something illegal?! I thought I was sneaky when I read fanfics but my lord trying to write one is thousand times worse?! And I’m trying to push through it but I was wondering, does anybody else feel like this? Can I get rid of this internal embarrassment, and how?

I kind of miss getting to know the interior of other people’s homes. So many of my friendships in adulthood are distant, or long distance/only talking over the phone, difficult to make actual plans with because of Real Life Schedules Now, etc. etc., but like in school and stuff as a kid you can just hang out at someone’s house for a few days, have a sleepover every weekend, etc. etc. I still remember the interior of all of my childhood friend’s homes, I remember all the details to the rooms and the layout of the yards and etc. etc. There’s just something kind of neat about Knowing another person’s housing space, what the décor says about them, the history of how they came to live there and their household routines and what it’s like, etc. I feel like it can be an important part of really deeply understanding someone so it’s weird to talk to and vaguely know a handful of people, but also not even know what their bedrooms look like or how they organize the dishes after washing them or etc. etc.
