BATDR self insert time!!

Radio Static!

I actually blatantly favour her...seeing as this was made after BATDR came out and my immense love for this game and its content grew. So she technically has three forms. (Though I am still working out the kinks for the second one, I have a design for it...I just hate it).

Starting with her cartoon design!

I will admit it took way too much brain power and effort for me to animate this...but my goal is to eventually have a "select your player" with each stage of Radio. But now let's try and describe this little demon.

-> I really love the idea of Bendy having a large extended family just for the sake of holiday specials. As stated in her character description, she was made for a new years special and the release of a new sing-along album. Her whole design was based around an old companion radio (hence the ear dials to control her volume, which is used in her episode as a funny joke trope. As well as the sound of her voice not actually coming out of her mouth, but actually the 'speakers' on her torso. She also gets the 'Static' part of her name from the fact that she runs on electricity.)

-> not much else other than to say, her eye glows. Why? Don't ask me, I just liked the idea of her eye glowing.

Now to move onto her final form! Her ink machine version! (As well as her human soul version, seeing as it's a self insert).

The whole idea is that her creator is the one who actually comes back to the studio after Arch takes over, seeing as she was an animator who initially worked on the old cartoons, and somehow is one of the few still alive and about (weird, where did the others go?). She somehow gets lured into the machine and becomes a character she had once designed. The final form is based on her human form getting so stuck in despair and anger that her ink solidifies and she becomes an uncontrollable monster within the world of ink.

(I like to imagine that she would eventually meet Eyfil, and this is the only coloured version of her that I had (in case you couldn't figure it out, Radio is the one on the balcony).

-> Radios ink monster form is strongly electrified. And because of her intense emotions, she can control any energy she can consume and transmit it to an electrical current.

-> however this power comes with mass amount of energy being consumed, so she will get very tired very quickly. If she uses too much electricity, she will just pass out and sleep it off. It's the slowest way for her to regain strength, but she just can't ever control it. Other ways of regaining her energy is to find any other source of electricity, like a broken active wire, or batteries, and consume that. The most effective way is to consume ink creatures, which to her is the equivalent of eating bacon soup, but she hates the way that they taste and will only go that route if she is desperate.

-> In the story I have built, when she first comes into the ink world, she is immediately captured by Wilson and thought to be a strange version of the ink demon. So she is brought and contained in an effort to make her 'non-lethal'. Essentially, they just lock her in a room and feed her ink every now and again. (This is how she meets @spotlightstudios self insert, The Siren, who is brought in a bucket and used as a sacrifice to Radio. It doesn't work, and Radio actually finds the bucket siren endearing and befriends her. Hence the start of their wonderful adventures. I won't get too into that right now, though)

All I have left is small doodles I have of Radio Static. This includes my initial ideas and thoughts about her cartoon design as well as the hated second form (which I refuse to go too deep into detail..) as well as small descriptions of each form.

Bakusquad Boys Crushing HCs! (Bakugo, Kirishima, Denki, Sero!)

Katsuki Bakugo

*He is the definition of he's being mean to you cause he likes you (which is not ok but yk what Im on abt) He LOVES to tease you its his favorite pastime

*He will follow you around he is always the leader and he finds no one else besides All Might and you that is someone he like so he loves to follow you but when you call him out on it he gets super mad

*He is not a blusher you will not be able to read his expression so when he confesses its a total shock

*He likes to spar with you, thats how he gets his feelings out so if you spar with him he is even more head over heals, I feel like if he is upset about something he won't say it until he's fighting then he will just scream it at you and expect you to keep fighting as if he said nothing

*He keeps tabs on you always he asks your friends where you are or he just follows you himself he has a very good memory so remembers most of the things you tell him

*He will share headphones with you but you better not tell a soul..

Erijiro Kirishima

*Being the manly man he is he is very gentleman like and super duper sweet to you (He opens doors, gives you his jacket, etc..)

*He is VERY protective he is worse with possessiveness than Bakugo is in my opinion because Bakugo thinks he's the best so no one can take your attention but Kirishima is very possessive and protective of you

*He is clingy similar to Bakugo he follows you begging for your attention he is the kind of guy who will like "Hey! watch my trick!" and do like a flip or kick into the pool then run to go see what you have to say (You better tell him he's amazing..)

*He is insecure as we know he's trying to gain more confidence in himself so he can get very needy so he always wants to be hanging out with you and he is kinda a compliment fisher but only form you <3

*He lets you dye his roots red or style is hair before school or anytime you want

*He is brain rot. you can't tell me other wise he will ask you if he's rizzing you up

Denki Kaminari

*He is a big flirt but the second you even wink in his direction or flirt back its all over he is blushing and stuttering

*He's like Kirishima he will do tricks or show you things so he can get your approval on his cool moves

*Hes the type of guy to try and lean against the door frame to look like sexy and mysterious then he misses and falls over. He's very clumsy around you and he will fall or trip over nothing when you enter the room

*He is constantly teased by Bakugo and Kirishima about his crush on you so its pretty obvious that he has a crush on you so its not as surprising when he confesses unlike Bakugo

*He is also a perv as we know so be prepared for his weird comments weather in ear shot or to Mineta but they are only towards you not the other girls so Mineta begins to question his feelings for you! Hes like the normal perv (if that a thing ;-; ) like he keeps his thoughts to his friends and he won't act on it

Hanta Sero

*I just know he's the quiet kid (Idk I just know yk) he is very shy around you until he gets comfortable with you

*He likes to make you little things out of tape as a little gift and he leaves them for you without telling you its him but you know its him but you won't tell him you know

*He is also a follower and he wants to go where you go he also invites you to hang out with him and his friends because it makes him feel less shy around you

*He is that one guy who leaves you notes along with his little tape animals thinking you don't know its him but it is obvious when he uses the nickname only he calls you as the opener

*He really likes compliments SO much he is a little insecure compared to his friends who he thinks are amazing at what they do so give him compliments

*You would probably be the one to confess first I feel like he would be teased for not asking you but when you do it for him its exactly what he wanted!

(she/he/they) Genderfluid (leaning towards fem mostly) - Panromantic Demisexual

Not me simping for my own design with this one oml.

- I've seen quite a few people headcanon Vil as Desi and I agree. I also view her as technically genderfluid but she normally presents very fem and is on occasion like, "Hm, masculine pronouns today."

- I was going to keep the blonde and make her have some root colour showing but it wasn't looking right. To be honest, she's slaying with the darker hair though.

- Made his eyes a deeper, purple-y blue and their earrings were a gift from Rook as they match her eyes almost perfectly.

- Totally a mother hen, keep in mind I literally have hardly seen her yet but I /think/ that's canon lol?

- Fashion nerd and could list the eras of different fashion trends and famous designers off the top of their head.

- Not a fan of physical activity, just does it to be in fit shape. She actually really likes to read nonfiction and love art history as well.

- Met Rook as first years and they bonded immediately. Probably the first person that Vil really clicked with.

Quick comment: Why does he look so fcuking weird w/out his hat in-game??? I have his ceremonial robes card and if he didn't already scare me, he definitely does now. I think my version looks a little less weird. Anyways, side tangent over.

- I kept his fuck-ass bob, it's simply too iconic, though I gave it a bit more volume and shape. You can decide if he's a natural blonde or not lol.

- I headcanon him to be Chinese and French, and he grew up bilingual. Has a hell of and accent and when he gets upset, they just swap to either Chinese or French, it's a fifty-fifty depending on the day.

- They're not super visible but the bow and arrow earrings were a gift from Vil to celebrate Rook winning an archery competition. I think it was pretty early in their friendship but that's when Rook registered her feelings for Vil.

- For as open as Rook is about finding others attractive, it gets nervous to directly compliment Vil to her face. This is more obvious with saying "I love you," which he doesn't mind tossing out to most people, it's just really personal toward Vil so they avoid saying it lol.

- Most of the compliments that Rook gives Vil are things Vil is already aware of so Rook doesn't chance bringing up all the things they love about Vil. (Can you tell I love them?)

*Breaks out the southern accent* Y'all thought the others thus far have been long, hoo boy... Y'all are in for a real treat.

- Firstly, my boy is transmasc. I feel like that's pretty widely accepted 'round these parts but I figured I should shout it out anyways.

- I made him mixed, Scandinavian? and Japanese and gave him some brown eyes to boot. Kept his face real dainty but gave him broader shoulders and a farmer's tan 'cause y'all know he's working at his parent's farm every summer.

- He's styled in like, the southern goth aesthetic and I added some green to his hair 'cause the 'poison' part of 'poisoned apple' wasn't coming across enough. By the way, his grandma dyes her hair in solidarity with him. She's cool. Be like Epel's grandma.

- When he first arrived at NRC, he only had his lobes pierced, then he saw Jade's piercings and was like "I want that,". Jade directed him to Cater, who gave him all his other piercings (not at the same time lmao). Everytime he got a new one, Vil would have a minor heart attack lol.

- I think he'd also actually really like cute things, one of the reasons he lets Vil doll him up for so long, but hates bringing it up 'cause people call him 'girly' or 'feminine' for it. This is another underlying factor for my Jack/Epel dynamic but I'll save that for later.

- Speaking of Savanaclaw, I think he has plans to transfer at the beginning of sophomore year. Also, because he hangs around Jack so much, they kinda consider him a part of the pack. In particular, Epel also really looks up to Leona and approached him in Spelldrive Club about transferring. Leona agreed and took notice of Epel's admiration and if he puts a little more effort into practise afterwards, that's no one's business. (I think he's be like, "Goddammit, these kids keep looking up to me... I should at least give them something worth looking up to." Only the MC would know, and probably Ruggie would notice just having know Leona.) Also, Epel saw Leona's chaps and immediately wanted a pair. Leona took him out to get some and when they got back, Vil was horrified lmao.

I love Epel/Savanaclaw dynamic sm omg but onto my ocs... (Also, I really hope y'all read that with a southern accent, I think it's hilarious lol)

💋Calendula Dame💋

Third Year - (she/her) - Sapphic Aromantic

- She's twisted from Mother Gothel, who, can I just say, SLAYED in her movie ong. Though Disney really needs work on their representation, specifically the fact that her character is very Jewish-coded (I don't think she's canonically Jewish but please correct me if I'm wrong) but is portrayed in an anti-Semitic way, feeding into negative stereotypes. I'm not the most knowledgeable person to speak on this issue and I know it's been throughly discussed by others so please feel free to research it. I did have a friend who is Jewish help me make her character and I hope I did her justice!

- I made her Jewish, specifically Ashkenazi and conservative. I'm not quite sure yet how this would translate into Twisted Wonderland but we'll see.

- She's all about makeup products and she and Vil compare skincare routines in a sort of friendly competition.

- Another fun nod is she loves gardening. Namely flowers but occasionally crops and herbs. She's got her own little plot in the greenhouse and she and Epel discuss gardening tips together.

- She's also a nail artist and quite skilled at that. She has a small 'business' and is especially booked around school events.

Now for one some of y'all have wanted to see for a bit...

Second Year - (he/him) Transmasc - Pan-Demiromantic

The one man I've made this whole time lmaooo.

- Tupac is my Yzma twist! His name is Incan, ironically meaning 'royal', as I figured out The Emperor's New Groove is inspired by Incan culture!

- He's the most flamboyant twink to ever walk the earth and I love him for that. That being said, he and Rocío are my token 'heteros'. They've been friends since first year and get along extremely well. He's got book smarts but literally no common sense. She has no common sense either and so they j st get into silly shenanigans together. I love them sm my little sillies.

- He's more into dramatic makeup and loves to do Rocío's because she's not into makeup and doesn't really know how to do it lol. He's also made her get a nice skincare routine which she follows diligently as she likes routines.

- Probably a part of the Boardgame Club, though I'm not sure how well he does. He probably just enjoys hanging out with the people and the banter rather than the games themselves, though I think he'd be very good at chess and other strategy games.

- The first of a set of twins twisted from the Siamese twins in Lady and the Tramp (I think that's what they're in, it's been a hot sec lol). I made them mixed, Black and Thai as Siamese cats originate from Thailand.

- Onto Chaisee specifically, I think he's the 'black cat' personality out of the two of them. She's on the more reserved side and is more blunt and to the point than his sibling is. Also autistic and has particular issues with loud noise and food textures. Not a fan of physical contact and hates being touched without permission.

- He like to fluxuate between masc and fem styles a lot (with the fem pictured here) and enjoys suits for formal wear.

- While it's into fashion, he likes to be more of a rough sketch and designer than actually doing the sewing. Her designs are quite avant-garde and lean into lots of floral patterns.

- She and Nasira work together to come up with different floral arrangements, both for Chaisee's designs and for Nasira's dorm.

- Churai is the 'tabby' cat energy one. They're very affectionate and full of energy. They love to help out others and are constantly doing things with other people.

- A hands-on person, Churai loves sewing and is a part of the sewing club. They tend to be the primary person to work on their sibling's designs because of the level of detail needed.

- ADHD and has to be doing something at all times. Because of this, they have a TON of hobbies, ranging from scrap-booking to fishing to reading about random topics. Gets along incredibly well with Kalim and they love hanging out with him. Also a very touchy person, loves hugs and cuddles!

- Their style is more on the feminine side and they love making cute dresses to wear. Definitely takes a lot of inspiration from the gyaru and harujuku fashion scenes.

Last of my Pomefiore characters and second of the triplets, Corentin Benoit!

- The technical oldest of the triplets and she holds that over their heads. She's was both happy and not to be in a different dorm than her younger siblings.

- Looks up to Hestia a lot and wants to be like her when she grows up (as if Hestia know what she's doing but yk).

- She's particularly interested in the poison aspect of Pomefiore and is keen to eventually become housewarden. As such, she's asked for Vil's help to learn as much as she can about making them.

Brushing aside works that contain canonical character death, probably a place where the water touches the sky, even though it’s an ambiguous ending.

I don’t know if there’s one with an ending that’s more definitively happy than everything else, but bombshell has a very fun, flirty ending.

8. do you get hate on fics?

No outright hate, but I have received a handful of comments that basically amounted to “what you wrote in this story isn’t to my tastes and I'm going to tell you why you should've written what I wanted to read,” which. Y’know. Dldr 🙃

9. do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do, though I’ve never publicly posted anything more explicit than a fade-to-black. Mostly I’ve written collaborative scenes with friends, either full-blown role-play style or more spur-of-the-moment snapshots than highly structured, fully fleshed out scenes. If I’m writing by myself, I tend to lean harder toward sensual and less toward outright E-rated PWP.

10. do you write crossovers?

Not in the strictest sense, although I’ve thrown ideas around with friends, absolutely. I’m more inclined to full-on AUs (e.g., the DBH characters in the Star Wars universe but not interacting with all of the canon SW characters). I tend to lose interest in projects too quickly to sustain crossovers or AUs of significant size.

Absolutely, it's actually my preferred way to write.

Starkiller/Juno was a formative one for me.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

The Skyrim rewrite. I have a solid 25,000-plus words hanging around, but they barely scratch the surface of the canon story, and I don’t play the game anymore, so. It languishes. I occasionally reread the Battle of Whiterun scene I wrote, though, because I do love it v much.

16. What are your writing strengths?

A tightly bound trinity of subtext, showing instead of telling, and descriptions. I always joke I never write text, I only write subtext. Learning how to tell sometimes instead of showing everything has been. a struggle. When I know the characters really well and can hear them clearly, my dialogue’s also excellent.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Follow-through’s the biggest one. I tend to get bored and thus uninspired fairly easily, so I usually need a strict externally imposed deadline or someone (like a coauthor) who’s otherwise waiting on my finishing a given piece for me to push through to the end. Plotting the final quarter of stories tends to give me a lot of trouble if I don’t come up with the ending right away. If I don’t know where I’m aiming, I wander aimlessly before almost inevitably moving on to another project. This is why most of my solo projects are relatively small.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Nuclear launch codes. No, seriously, it can work so, so, SO well, in VERY limited, bite-size pieces. Unless the work is intended for readers who are familiar with the languages being used, I prefer to see alternate languages used as flavor text only.

Probably Star Wars? Self-insert territory ahoy 😂

20. Favourite fic you've written?

Am I allowed to say a WIP that most people haven’t seen? No? Probably thermal equilibria, chapter two specifically. The dialogue tickles me every time I reread it.

So... hasn’t taken me a while, before I wanted to redesign Daevas. I thought she looked rather bland and not much like the hybrid of a Queen and Devil, so instead of two heads, I’ll be giving her five total and revamping her head design so that she has two sets of split jaws on each head (which is going to be an absolute pain to draw each head).

Additionally, I’m going to give them the cobra hoods I gave to my new Ghidorah design, plus give them a sort of hierarchy of horns - the two outer most heads will have smaller, more ‘stump’ like horns, and progressing to the middle head is where they are the biggest and sharpest. 

As for their limbs, I decided to revamp the inner chest limbs so that they’re bigger and more so used for stabilizing Dae, as she has a lot of front weight going on. Might make them bigger so that they’re like the outer set of limbs for better support. Her wings are being changed too to be more ragged - it bothered the hell out of me how I made the wings too streamlined, as I want to lean more heavily towards Ghidorah’s heritage than Mothra’s with this daughter. That’s pretty much it for Dae, as for the moth next to her, that’s actually a new character I’m slowly working on.

Titanus Askifro is the son of Mothra and Battra.

Askifro, I imagine, has a very posh way of speaking, almost like a Victorian style. He doesn’t enjoy short-conversations, so he’s typically advise to have something you can talk extensively about, preferably something he also enjoys - which, admittedly, isn’t a lot. He has a relatively stable relationship with both Mothra and Battra, but tends to prefer his father rather than mother. 

he’s actually the older half-brother to Dae, as Mothra first landed with Battra before reaching out to Nii (there’s a whole poly relationship going on that I’ll maybe explain later). Dae never got to meet her older half-sibling, but honestly? Askifro and Dae would surprisingly get along - she understands and respects Aski’s knowledge of things, and is actually a little upset at not meeting him sooner. Something about his presence soothes her immensely, and she feels genuinely safe around him. 

Aski doesn’t mind having Dae around, but finds it daunting to be the older sibling. He doesn’t have any trauma really, so it’s hard for him to exactly feel that connection with his younger sister - very much a advice rather than comfort guy too, but tbh his advice is just “kill your enemies and wear their skeletons as trophies” which Dae just responds with “please no”

very knowledgeable on kaiju biology, and is a pristine collector of their bodies if a kaiju is too pass. very careful, very precise. if its a fresh death, he’d likely eat the corpse then drag the remains elsewhere, or if it’s just the bones or a rotting corpse, he’d clean the flesh off of the bones and carve whatever he wants out of them

fucking hates Goji tbh, but keeps it veeeeeeeeeery close to himself. he’s not a big confronter, preferring to keep all of his secrets and opinions to himself rather than tell anyone, including his parents. WHICH REMINDS ME, SHIN AND ASKI

god, he didn’t expect her to be so blunt and outright rude towards him. he didn’t really find her intimidating though, just... kinda annoying. the most he’d do is just bap her on the head (Dae doesn’t do anything about it bc shes admittedly a little spooked of Aski despite the fucking power and height difference) and try to teach her proper manners, which Shin doesn’t actually need, she’s just being a dick

she does warm up to him after a while though, and so Aski watches over his little siblings with a lot of care, actually. HOWEVER, he definitely doesn’t want to get involved in Dae’s rivalry with Apoc. that’s a disaster in itself and while yes he cares for Dae, it’s her fight, he literally has no connection to them so he doesn’t care, plus he can probably get bodied if he got caught in the crossfire 

random thought time, after getting to know each other, Shin grows comfortable enough to gossip to Aski about stuff with the other kaiju, and he listens, hiding the smile as he hears all the tales. OH and if they were in their human form, they’d definitely braid each other’s hair and go out to get their nails done, Aski doesn’t give a fuck 

one last thing, with Aski and Dae, they have a something similar to what Goji and Mothra had - Aski sacrificing himself to give Dae power, then Dae goes absolutely ham. that is all

I don’t know if this is in your arsenal (*wink wonk*), but I would so appreciate if you could identify these little guys

These are a bit blurry (and obviously aren’t real guns) and many of them are in that Generic AR15 Category, so I can’t give definitive answers here, but I will try my best. It’s also hard to squeeze in factoids for ten weapons in one post, so I will probably be pretty brief.

Up top we have some form of DMR conversion kit for an AR15, not entirely sure which or what kind due to image quality and camera angle. Could be a LWRC REPR (chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO). Has a really wonky looking muzzle device at the end; size-wise it makes me think it’s a suppressor, but it has holes in it, so apparently it’s supposed to be an obscenely large muzzle break??

The proportions of the second one and the appearance of the magazine lead me to believe the second one is the Heckler & Koch HK53A3 (chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO), which is just a super-compact form factor version of the HK33, their MP5-esque assault rifle series.

Our third rifle looks to be the Enfield L85A1 (part of SA80 series, chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO), except it’s bizarrely mirrored, with the covered cheek rest side facing the camera, when we should be seeing the ejection port and charging handle in the back. Still, it’s also mounted with a standard issue SUSAT scope.

The fourth is tricky, possibly unintentionally so. The boxy foregrip, wire stock, and barrel and gas tube positioning all seem to suggest it’s an IMI Galil ARM (chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO), however the receiver is very different, almost AR-15 like. On a hunch, I looked up Counter-Strike listings on IMFDB and I think I have an answer: the receiver might be leaning towards the IWI Galil ACE 22 (5.56x45mm) design, like in CS:GO. I’m still not entirely sure, though...

The fifth is, I think, an M4A1 Block II (chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO) judging by the elongated foregrip with full rail systems on all four sides. It’s specifically fitted with an ACOG sight here. Could also be one of those Daniel Defense / Knight’s Armament clones but I’m not too sure and can’t be bothered to parse it down.

This next one, though, is a mystery. Like, the very first thing that totally screws with me is the bizarre thumbhole stock. It looks almost like an M16? Like, you can clearly recognize the carrying handle in there, but... I dunno. I’m passing on this one, it’s driving me insane.

Seventh is a very clear-cut Colt M1921A Thompson (part of the Thompson series, chambered in .45 ACP) with an extended box magazine. Good ol’ classic rattler.

I swear these guns are going to drive me insane. Eighth one immediately had the Benelli M4 Super 90 (part of the M series, chambered in 12-gauge) come to mind because of the pistol grip and stock construction, as well as the design clearly being that of a semi-auto shotgun, but the barrel being longer than the shell tube, and the foregrip seeming to recede into the receiver, are both tripping me up. And of course, yet again, we have no ejection port or charging handle on the right side where it should be...

Finally, we got two easy ones. Penultimate one is an AKM (Avtomat Kalashnikova series, 7.62x39mm) judging by the stock style and what I’m assuming is a stamped receiver... hard to tell given the lack of details and OH MY GODDESS THE RECEIVER IS MIRRORED AGAIN.

Last one is the FN SCAR-L (SCAR series, 5.56x45mm NATO), likely the CQB variant. Easy to tell from the distinctively shaped folding stock. The iron sights are folded down to make way for what appears to be a reflex sight and flip-down magnifier optic.

I’m not sure what the (*wink wonk*) is supposed to suggest. If you’re asking if I’d pick these keychains up... let me know if they do any actual sniper rifles or PDWs.

Oh?! What could it be? She was already thinking about tons of scenarios, but she sure would not have expected her to seriously get involved with a real guy after all, considering how insistent she had been on their beloved 2D guys, who could never disappoint them with their flawless bodies and unhinged personalities, Fang liked them more evil.

Fang blinked, her friend seriously started to work, just so she could afford one of those stupid hosts?! Her other friends already knew her opinion on those, but personally she saw anyone going to them and especially paying for them as total losers, considering they failed to find a guy the natural way. That included Futaba, but then again, she should not be surprised, considering her looks made it not overly easy. Vivian sure would not have it any easier either, as she could not remember any guy being into her type during her high school years. They all wanted usually the thin chick with long hair and perfect style. Fang had fulfilled that type for a while, though her personality made her not the superstar in school, she wished to be.

"Y-you are spending money on a guy?!" she gasped. "That's not right, if anything, the guy should give you money, for that you even bless him with your presence alone?!" Even if Vivian was no supermodel now, neither Fang, she was fun, hella fun - to the point, that she sometimes felt jealous at her. The same kind of jealousy, she felt towards Ryuto, for being such a shit smart guy, who seemed to have a comeback for everything. Her eyes widened upon hearing Vivian say, she actually felt lonely without her. It touched a spot in her heart, from which she had not known that it really could exist. "Ugh, don't say that..." Never she felt this guilty, but also loved?! Desired?! What was the right word? She does not recall anyone ever saying for missing her, not like this, that they would seriously end up going to a host club.

"I can cuddle you too?!" Her voice seemed to almost crack as she spread her arms but unlike by Ryuto, she actually reached for Vivian, hugging her midsection with her face pressed against her abdomen. As hot muscles could be, Vivian's tummy was far more comfortable. She had been guilty to like Idachi's too, who was not really working out so much either. That guy could only dream to obtain an Adonis body like ... a guy like Han, for sure that guy had almost no fat. Scary. "I can't believe, you really started talking with a guy..." she mumbled and pouted slightly, as it sounded like, that she seemed to be very successful with it. Then again it was a host, so he was probably catering to her wishes. "But I get it," she admitted, once leaning back, considering how she sought out the presence of a guy in her life too. And usually not just from one. "... so does that mean, you would love having a boyfriend, hm? How does this host guy even look? Is he really that good, ... well must be... but don't overdo it, this sure can quickly turn into overspending, like on those damned gacha games, ... because you want that one hot skin..." Sighs.

i think dialogue bc i really enjoy writing it and it typically comes most easily to me! i would consider humor a strength too bc i have a very good time being silly

big one is speed. I'm just very slow 😔 the writing process is fairly painstaking for me, and it takes a lot of time and effort even to write things that are pretty short and simple! agonies

for the writing itself, i consider myself a pretty simple writer with a pretty simple writing style—which works well for me most of the time, especially since I tend to lean toward humor. but sometimes it feels like a weakness when i read a story with really rich, beautiful prose and i wish i could emulate that a bit more! when i'm trying for something with a more serious tone it takes a lot more effort for me to convey the appropriate level of depth I'm going for and i worry about going overboard and coming off as overwrought or cheesy sounding lol. along the same vein i feel sometimes that my characterization is a bit two-dimensional and i find myself wishing i could add more levels and depth to the characters. there's just a lot i try to balance in my writing and i don't feel like im quite striking that balance every time. which is fine because no one's perfect ofc! i hope this is all stuff i can learn to be better at.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i generally prefer keeping everything in english since im writing in english. it just feels a bit smoother for the POV if there would be no distinction for the character, and i don't want people to be pulled out of the story if they need to google something

I’ve seen this notion make the rounds and I think I see the vision but I’m not sure I totally agree. Maybe I do agree but I just word it differently? idk if i'd call her indie, or the appeal being an "indie" appeal. indie is a combination of both the musical style that is provocative, messy, and challenging the structure of songwriting and sometimes even singing. and how the small scale operational side creates the musical style out of necessity, but that's just me being nitpicky i think. still, that feedback loop and ecosystem is kind of essential to something being indie or even indie-esque and the genre of music it produces. i think what she is instead is singer/songwriter, which a lot of people conflate with indie. sometimes they overlap, but most of the time they're just lumped together incorrectly, especially these days. the main difference is i think indie artists make music that is more experimental in sound and thereby prickly at times. they're not as concerned with resonance as they are with creating unique sounding music that challenges what sounds "nice" and "enjoyable", which sounds pretentious as fuck but it's true and also important to art in general imo. it tends to lean more towards the punk rock sensibility of an all encompassing sound that makes you feel instead of any particular lyrics, which are there to prop up the sound for the most part and can often be nonsensical or stream of consciousness. whereas a singer/songwriter leans more towards palatable, dare i say pretty music that draws you in because the main focus is their lyrics. they're telling you something. they seek emotional resonance with an audience as their main priority, leaning more towards a pop sensibility in that way. Taylor is definitely the latter in my eyes (and ears), and so indie feels like not a great fit for her ultimately.

but i do see what you mean so i'm more partial to saying she has a "small business" appeal. she's selling you pop that is pretty broad and familiar but you feel like because she offers you the illusion of having a direct line to a human person, taylor swift herself. that you're getting an intimate and specific brand of that broad and familiar thing in return. executed excellently of course, but still broad and vague. so that killer combo; she makes products that are broad enough that they appeal to everyone and draw large crowds, creating a line out the door, but also people are willing to wait for what is essentially a vague/broad thing because she makes you think that what she offers is hand crafted just for you and only she can give it to you. And i think her songs are yes about her life..... technically. but look at the lyrical content and you'll find they're very very vague for the most part (with a few exceptions). rarely does she name places, people, or even specific event details, and when she does they're very commonplace. wine, perfume, windows, movies, cars, bars, bedrooms, doorsteps, etc. but while the subjects and settings are vague, it's the emotions she is able to verbalize that are hyper-specific. how it feels to wants someone you shouldn't want, the guilt of feeling alone in a crowded room of people who love you, the self hatred of missing someone who betrayed you, the paranoia that leads to the longing to run away with someone where nobody can judge you, etc. because hyper specific details and situations are not relatable, but nearly all human emotions are. its a very masterful illusion of specificity where you line up a bunch of specific motifs or visuals to make the story feel small and intimate, but the things you choose are actually commonplace. and this is on purpose!! the emotions are pinpoint specific because that's what makes you feel seen and draws you in, as everyone feels the same things but we all think we're the only ones who feel them, and then the setting is ultimately vague enough so you can project yourself into and onto it. she could be talking about your street or your bedroom or your high school so you feel like you could be right there next to her. that's secret to the success of broad pop!

With how small her operation is, given that it's all in house and mainly her family and a few key players compared to the village it takes to manage other popstars, she technically and comparably is indie in that way! the thing is most of the time, a genuinely small/indie artist operates like this out of the inability to pay anyone to help, but she does it by choice. she has a MOUNTAIN of cash she sits on because she may operate with a small team but also outputs broad pop that, due to her small team, then has MASSIVE margins that go right into her pocket. thats the only real genuine indie thing about her, but either way, that's not what you're tapping into when you feel that small artist appeal. it feels like she's a small business because she makes it feel like she's on the other side of the counter, offering her songs to you out of the palm of her hand. that illusion of intimacy and human connection that she's able to facilitate despite being the most untouchable person in the world. indie music isn't about direct human connection like that, not on the whole. again, that's conflating indie with singer/songwriter which is about that human connection. and she is both yes! a pop star that injects singer/songwriter human outreach and connection into that pop. a gourmet creme patissiere whipped up by an extraordinarily deft and patient hand, piped into a simple and common glazed donut. and i'll take two dozen please. that's the unique magic of her.

in the end i think we agree conceptually, i'm just very prickly when it comes to the word indie because i don't feel like that's quite right.

Today feels like a good day for this

So there’s two main ways of playing your ttrpg characters that I’ve seen from my players and other people telling me about their games

1) protagonist - you want to be the main character. The most important, impressive one in the room, with all the good rolls and everything works all the time

Weirdly, I have also only seen this from the edgelords? And it’s definitely not a hard rule, but it’s a firm trend. So they also have to be the most tragic, with the angiest backstory, the biggest victims of every wrong but oh they’re never affected by it

They’re not scared of anything, they’ve always seen worse, they never show their real feelings and they’re always in total control

This can soooort of work? If you are playing the right game, with the right people? But it is inherently uncollaborative because one person can’t lead every scene all the time, and when the rolls don’t match the inner narrative people tend to get upset

It feels more personal when something doesn’t work out because your story becomes personal wish fulfilment, and it feels like you have failed rather than just an unlucky roll

2) feral toddler with barbies - your character is your sweet little bean and you Want To Fuck Them Up

This is the fandom whump style, putting the horse in the plinko machine, and every single time something bad happens it is a wonderful opportunity to mess up your baby

This is much less focused on the end result and much more focused on having the most fun in the journey, which tends to work really really well in bigger groups where crime can be committed

Other players have other barbies and you tell stories by smashing them together, making them kiss or fight or commit tax fraud, and sometimes one of the barbie’s heads flies off to a far corner and you need to improvise

Now, these are two ends of a spectrum, and neither of them have anything to do with the characters, the game, or the story being told

It’s about how you react to the little moments, to the pieces controlled by chance, or to when something doesn’t go the way you expected it to

You don’t control which one you start with, although newer players might find themselves leaning towards “protagonist”, especially if they play a lot of games or video games with a single Player Character

It’s familiar, it’s what we’re used to in single player, and it’s really fun for character creation to invent this super cool person you’re gonna run around and fight dragons (or space robots) with…

But it’s also more stressful in a multiplayer game where there is always more than one protagonist

Ensemble stories are hard (and trust me I write them enough to know). Not everyone is in every scene, and time is limited so you have to work together and give each other prompts to get the stories you want out

It’s still really important to pay attention to scenes your character isn’t in, and to remember that… yeah, you can ping another player out of game to say “hey ask about my Tragic Backstory/Cool Weapon/Long Lost Sibling”

And they can also tell you what to ask about to get to the cool bits of their character’s lore, which is Just As Good As Doing Yours! Everyone gets to be cool together!

It’s actually something we’ve butted up against as a full game of newbies a lot; people want to be asked about something, but in a natural way, so they can’t mention in game that they want to be asked. And of course, the dreaded “my character would never talk about this”

(They’d never want to, my darling. You, their player, both want to and Can Make Them by having fellow players or the dm apply stressors)

Or they focus on wanting their story told, and if someone else comes in with “oh I get it I also had a little brother” or “shit you also heard about that evil wizard? This is what I know” it feels like losing control of the scene

But it’s a multiplayer game. The scene’s still about you even if it’s not only about you, and if you find yourself playing in the protagonist style and getting frustrated… maybe what you actually want to do is write the story of this cool character

Writing is hard but you control the environment, the outcomes, and your special character is the center of the narrative in a way that doesn’t work for a multiplayer game

If you’re playing the game and getting frustrated a lot and writing doesn’t appeal, it might be time to look at your character through the fandom lens

Put them in silly situations for fun and profit

Make them uncomfortable and remember that the important thing isn’t what your character wants. It’s what you want

We don’t rotate the blorbo in our heads because it’s what the blorbo wants; if you love whumpy fan content, whump your heckin’ character

If you want to talk about something the character never would, fucking make them. Put them in a vulnerable spot and poke their weak points until it all comes spilling out

Because… yeah. There’s a line where “being in character” can very easily translate to “doing what the character wants to do”, and there is one critical problem when that line blurs:

If you always back away and close off from the parts of the story your character wouldn’t want to talk about, you don’t get to talk about those parts of the story

Because woe of woes, your fellow players might respect those boundaries! They might see that you’re backing away and assume it’s because you the player don’t wanna go there!

But you do, so bad, and it’s so hard to see how to break that cycle without breaking character once you’re inside

You need to open the doors that’ll put your character in the place they don’t want to be, but gets you those delicious vulnerable tragic scenes that lead to the real bonding

You will not roll the perfect crit every time for the perfect story, so the sooner you lean in the more fun failure is and the more you can work out your ideal balance of “well I rolled a one at intimidation and normally I’m very scary, but I guess I put my fist down on the table right in a blob of ketchup”

My earliest rule for our game was “I am not going to railroad your characters. You need to decide why they’re staying with the party because I will not force them to if they don’t want to, and you can roll a new one”

Cuz that’s the whole point: player agency matters so much more than character agency. It’s your character. You are their fandom baseline.

And you’re the one making the canon, so you can put everything you’ve ever wanted in it

Make that dramatic and edgy character who wants to be the center of attention, and then you the player subvert it to watch them flail

Make that stern and taciturn character who’s Hardened and Doesn’t Make Friends and then conspire with fellow party members for tiny scenes like them being handed a flower and staring at it for a minute, then keeping it

Make the silly, happy go lucky flirty character, and then wind them up until they crack and all the top secret Hidden Lore comes pouring out

Do bad things to your characters for fun and profit my loves

You aren’t the character, you’re the story teller, so work with everyone to tell the story you’ve always dreamed of

Hmmm I was debating this when I got this ask. On one hand, I want our girl to have to a quick exist. But I guess if we consider the time period I imagine this in (late 90s/early 00s) and consider that they both come from “traditional” households, I could see Aemond thinking he needed to propose after reader finds out she’s pregnant.

I’m gonna say yes bc the divorce will be messy which is so early 00s. Reader tries to put in there that alys can’t be around daella. Aemond tells her that’s unreasonable bc he’s her father and him and alys are together. Daella is bound to see her. Reader tells him it’s unreasonable to try and stick his penis in other women while he’s married. Their lawyers are just like 👁️👁️

No but the idea of reader putting her dreams on the back burner when daella was born. Taking into account how much Aemond wants this band to work and always supporting him…. Only for him not to give that same energy. She sketches and makes clothes in her spare time but is basically raising a kid by herself.

But the idea of her giving the band an aesthetic is so true. Like y’all know how Ariana went “look at you, boy I invented you” during In My Head. 1. She ate I miss mother and. 2. That’s so reader and Aemond. Like once the band starts to take form, I can totally see her telling them what looks work and what don’t. She’s not stupid, she knows they’re attractive and sometimes that’s half the battle with making it. She personally helped Aemond for years even before it became a job for her.

Wishing on Space Hardware update . . . I never actually started counting these, did I? Oh well, never mind. An Update, of indeterminate numeration.

I just finished posting Fic #18 over on Ao3, which completes the set up for the grand finale. Mwhaha. This brings the total word count to over 476,000 words. *expires on the spot* *revives immediately because it’s still not done!*

I had originally planned not to post the final arc until I had everything ready but honestly, all my plans around timing are vague suggestions at best and have consistently gone out of the window. C'est la vie.

I’m working steadily on Fic #19, the extremely reassuringly named ‘Ragnarök in G Minor‘, currently on chapter 7 of 20 (on top of which there will be a total of 10 prologues, interludes and epilogues). Overall, I think I’ve got about a third of the writing done, and the planning/plotting for the rest is unfolding nicely, so I’m feeling good about progress -- even if I can’t actually say when it’ll be done yet.

For those wondering about the title beyond the gag about invoking another Gundam series, I direct you to this harpsichord version of Bach’s Polonaise in G Minor, with reference to music used for Gjallarhorn in IBO and the character who has been the main instigator of chaos thus far. Also Mozart associated G minor with, to quote Wiki, “sadness and tragedy”. So. Yup.

Anyhoo, I thought since it will be a fair while before I get to posting, I would share some technical details one what I’m doing with #19 AKA here is the hole I am digging for myself.

I decided to structure this story so each chapter is told from a different character’s point of view. That is, each chapter focuses on a single character and that is the sole use of their POV in the narrative (excluding the epilogues where I’m going to mix and match). This is the technical maximisation of the strict single-POV-per-section style I’ve been using throughout the series, which is hard mode in terms of landing emotional beats but does force me to make each chapter the culmination of a particular character’s development. Not necessarily the end-point of their stories, you understand, but the point at which I can say, this is definitively what the character is like under my pen.

I think I’ve worked out an order that will let me tell the story I want using this method. It involves a a lot of jumping around temporally, the narrative looping back to tell earlier events from other perspectives, but that does means I can do some quite excellent chapter cliffhangers too (yes, a man with a gun IS going to spring through a door at a dramatic moment, because sometimes you really do just have to Chandler yourself out of a situation).

And it means I can do cute flourishes like entitling each chapter using a single word I associate with a character, and ending them on a quote from an appropriate song. Which admittedly does double my workload somewhat. I’ve managed to sort out the words but I still need to find songs for some people.

For your (hopeful) amusement, I’ll list out the chapter titles and then the characters with their associated songs under this spoiler-preventing cut. Have a go at guessing which go together, if you like. Some are pretty obvious, others probably less so. Regardless -- thank you for reading if you have been!

a/n: timmy at it again with her swiftie bf sae agenda ! this was so fun to write omg tbh idk where this came from but it came to me at 2am so that should say a lot ... this is once again a vv self indulgent piece 😭

"sae, i made a playlist they'll play when they make a movie adaptation about our relationship. do you wanna know what songs are in it?" 

"sure. even if i say no, you'll still tell me." sae huffed, sitting with his back on the couch as he loosely wraps an arm around your shoulders, making you lean on him.

"okay, for our first meeting. our meet cute. it's gotta be 'i like me better' by lauv. it's cute, gives off lara jean and peter kavinsky vibes. power couple just like you and i." sae hums along to you, finding your reasoning to be odd but whatever.

"next, our first date. wanna guess the song?" you looked up at him and for the first time in two hours (who are we even kidding? you're both dramatic) sae looks you in the eyes. "i don't know, you tell me." 

"two songs from beabadobee, 'glue song' or 'if you want to'. again, cute songs. would totally fit us." you use hand gestures a lot when you talk, sae thinks and he deems that an adorable trait you have. but he will never admit that to you. never. he twirls a strand of your hair on his finger, looping the threads in a circular motion. "how about a song they'll play when we have our first kiss?"

"i got one. 'lovers rock' by tv girl. our first kiss won't be just a kiss, you know. it'll be a full on make out scene. you, me, in a party, sneaking out to a bathroom just to make out." astonishment is visible on sae's face, features also hinting disbelief and amusement. as far as sae can remember, your first kiss was nothing like that. it was an awkward experience. cute, but awkward. at sixteen years old, sae kissed you under a streetlight as he walked you home after a date. it would've been a romantic scene if only the lamp hadn't decided to flicker on and off before completely shutting off, leaving you and sae standing in the dark. with that being said, sae definitely agrees to you fabricating the first kiss.

he leans towards your phone, peeking into your notes. "other songs?" 

"yeah, basically these are songs that make the cut even if they don't have a specific scene." you adjust your hold on the phone so both of you can see it without any difficulty. "look. we got 'hey lover' by the daughters of eve, 'lover' by taylor swift, 'without you' by lana del rey, which by the way you suit very well. i think of you everytime i hear it." sae lets a slight grin play on his face as he pictures you thinking of him just because of a song. 

"continuing on, there's 'the only exception' by paramore, 'late night talking' by harry styles, 'sweet nothing' by taylor swift, 'little things' by one direction, ooh! a classic! 'take on me' by a-ha, 'enchanted' by taylor swift again, 'watch you sleep' by girl in red because you know, i feel overwhelmed with joy knowing that you exist." sae could feel himself fall in love with you all over again. how is it that your words always get to him no matter what. your words linger in his head like lullabies that gets passed down from generations to generations. sae swears he's ready to pop the question right there and then when—

"oh last song, 'all too well, ten minutes version, taylor's version' by none other than taylor swift. how's that for a bomb movie soundtrack album, am i right?" you smiled at him, eyes twinkling with expectations for his opinion. meanwhile sae's lost in thought. did you really just say 'all too well'? and the ten minutes version, too? he must be dreaming, right?

sae stares at you, unmoving and expression serious. "did i do you anything wrong? or did i forgot an important event?" 

you blink confusedly at him. did he hit his head? 

"no. did you?"

"i'm asking you."

"forget it! just tell me what you think of the playlist?" you turned in his hold, dropping your phone to the side to circle your arms around his waist. sae's twirling with your hair again, only this time, he takes up small sections and braids them. "i like it. it's really cute. i like the part where we make out to 'lovers rock'. gotta be my favorite."

you beamed at his answer, immediately going off on a tangent about why you chose those songs. midway, sae cuts you off. 

"hey, why'd you add 'all too well'? isn't that a sad song?" 

"it's for dramatic effects! a movie would be too boring if there's too much cuteness." at your response, sae unknowingly releases a sigh of relief. inside, he knows he's done for the moment you start to relate him to 'all too well'. 

"come on, sweets."

"where are we going?"

"we're gonna rehearse the first kiss scene."

Well, that was nice. I'm still probably not going to buy the game tho.

I am still continuing to REALLY like the combat, the more i see it. You can really tell Square got help from some Capcom action devs. This is right up my alley.💕

But I'm glad there are lots of options to help FF/turn-based veterans. Interesting to see the approach of equipping items that automate dodge or slow action sequences, vs the approach FF7R went with. I wonder what other approaches games will have in the future. Surprised that story mode gives more crutches on top of all that, but I'm glad FF veterans only used to turn-based have less obstacles. (Again, if you miss turn-based, there's still a lot of Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Octopath Traveller, and rereleases of older games, like Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos, etc.)

The Icon battles look like a lot of fun. Like suddenly playing a kaiju arena fighter or arcade/Galaga style shooter. The gameplay variety sounds like it'll be a refreshing change of pace each time. Like Kingdom Hearts' final worlds or Nier Automata. Maybe I'm just getting nostalgic, but i couldn't stop thinking that if this was 20+ years ago Icon battles would totally be QuickTime Events. lol Just look at Kingdom Hearts II.

But i still cant get excited for this art direction. The world environment, the costume designs, the character designs...It all just points back to plain medieval fantasy, to me. I prefer more crazy anime designs, more stylish opulence. My first instinct is to blame realism. But FF15, FF7R, DMC5, & Nier Automata, all also used such realistic renderings, yet their art style was so stylish too. I just don't see any stylishness in FF16. Even zoom out to just Clive walking around, and everything just seems overall like big swaths of brown and gray. Even the Icon battles loose any interesting details in the creature design during combat. Which sounds like too much to ask for, but then so many other games deliver in that, from the Kingdom Hearts to Devil May Cry series. I dunno...Maybe my eyes are just getting more nearsighted, and maybe FF16's details look amazing even during Icon Battles. But i still can't get excited for this overall art style.

I'd also much rather have magic mixed with scifi, like FF7, rather than FF16's lean more towards plain medieval fantasy. But there is a whole set of FF7 games upcoming for people like me, so i can't complain. And though this preview's quick mention of "the Constructs of The Fallen", apparently being giant armor/mechs from an ancient civilization, might give me hope for the usual FF, midway story twist of scifi injection...FF16 still just seems not quite for me.
