Katara is a genocide survivor who's mother died in her place in the genocide of the southern water benders. You only consider Aang's pain towards the genocide of his people valid because he's a boy. You see Katara's pain and anger as whiny/unnecessary because she's a girl. You see her survival of genocide as less worthy of pain because she's a girl. Aang is the last air bender. Katara is the last southern water bender. Their titles are the same, and yet only Katara's status as a genocide survivor is ever called into question.

controversial take but, while I do like madara's addition to the story, he holds no candle to obito as an antagonist. yeah yeah, I do get the "creator who turns against its creature" storyline that madara introduces (plus the indra-ashura plot that he and hashirama expand upon, which to me is his core value within the story). still, I genuinely think obito should've been the main villain during the war arc. besides the fact that he lived more consistently the cruelty of the system his ancestor helped create, which gives him more ground to criticize konoha, he has far more questionable and downright despicable actions under his belt: he created the modern version of akatsuki, deepened the persecution of kekkei genkai users in mist and contributed to the massacre of his own people who he allowed to take the blame for his actions. obito embodies far better the system's methods for obtaining, expanding, and maintaining power than madara himself, which is why I wish he wasn't pushed aside and redeemed to fight against his ancestor...

Mail filters are easy to set up and deploy and WILL filter on specific sentences or patterns using regular expressions. If a mail server receives thousands of nearly-identical mails, chances are either the machine employs some sort of machine learning and it'll mark it as spam and disregard them immediately and/or some engineer will type up some extra filters to prevent more mails from coming through and cluttering up inboxes. Make no mistake: this is not hard to do and can be done within minutes.

If you want to get through mail filters, write it yourself. Do not erase typos, do not base your words on templates, but get personal. Do not let your voice get lumped in with spam runs!

i think my biggest gripe with the comparison between zuko and john smith and zutara as a whole to pocahontas is that john smith was an active colonizer. he was a grown man who chose and was proud of what he was doing. he didnt even believe the act of colonization was wrong. yes, he tried to end the violence in the movie, but he still lived with the belief that his people deserved to and were entitled to co exist on that land with the indigenous people.

zuko was an active participant in dismantling a hundred years of colonialism and colonization and genuinely wanted to fix the problems that his ancestors had left for him. it wasn’t easy and he wasn’t a perfect leader, but he was genuinely trying to make decisions that would be for the better of all the people, not just himself or his people. where john smith thought that indigenous ppl needed the white people’s help to become “more civilized” because he viewed them as inferior, zuko sought to give those that the fire nation had hurt their autonomy back.

that’s not to say that it isn’t a valid reason to dislike zutara, and if the idea makes you uncomfortable that’s fine and i respect it. i realize that the ship doesn’t appeal to everyone and that’s okay, but i just hate the comparisons because john smith was genuinely just an awful person who never should’ve been glorified in a disney movie.

hey, so, did ya'll know that the dems appealing to the white centrists has actually worked before and actually does work in most cases? did ya'll know that a lot of people who voted actually thought Kamala was too liberal? that majority of folks think she's an extreme radical? did ya'll know that? i feel like ya'll don't know that.

democrats always get heat for not appealing to the far left (rightfully so, IMO), and they will never and have never had as perfect messaging as they did with President Obama in 2008. but the far left is not and never will be a reliable base. every time they lose an office, they move even further right because...well. that's what's winning. but even in that, the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz combo is the most progressive ticket we've had since i've been able to vote, and maybe in my lifetime (though i don't have enough knowledge to make that case.). but the majority of the country lives in the center. they're more likely to catch those white centrists than they are the average leftist, no matter their campaign.

what's interesting, and I feel like most people are skipping over this, is that donald trump is winning the electoral votes and the popular vote. let that sink in for a second. do you know the last time a republican won the popular vote? in fact, he picked up voters that he lost in 2020, and why do you think that is?

i'm not saying that the democrats are perfect. you won't see or hear me praising them, ever. i've got my own beef with the party and its representatives, and there are about a thousand things they could've done better. that said, this is a big-picture situation, not a small one. Kamala Harris didn't lose just because of her stance (or non-stance) on Palestine. she didn't just lose because she didn't appeal to far left voters. she didn't just lose because of strategy. there was a national far-right swing. things are not the same as they were in 2008. people have been emboldened again. bigotry is loud and proud again. anti-trans and lgbtq bills are everywhere. they're taking important history out of schools. even if she made all the right moves and said all the right things, the race still would've been up in the air because Kamala Harris stands for everything that even the most "progressive" people don't want.
