Astrology observations! (Vedic, Western)

I never experienced true telepathy until I met a Venus conjunct Neptune man. He would look at my face and know exactly what I'm thinking and feeling, and he would be so understanding of it, even when it was something potentially hurtful to his ego. These people are psychic lovers and I'm afraid they are often seen with abusive people who take advantage of their unconditional love.

Mars-Saturn aspects in synastry is an indicator of only wanting to have sex with only this person, or could be that the couple can go for long times without being intimate and not feel like they need it.

This may sound obvious, but Ardra nakshatra people are the ones that feel so renewed by crying. They could heal A LOT by just a long crying session. And while others think "crying won't solve your problems" Ardra nakshatra people know this is so far from the truth. I am an Ardra rising and sometimes i tell my friends that i cried for hours to feel better and they are all like "if I cried like that i would feel so much worse but I'm happy for you" lol.

Hasta nakshatra men are such women worshippers. Hasta women are so maternal.

If i wanted good financial advice I would ask a Venus in the second house person. Specially women. Ik they are known overspenders but I had many good experiences with them.

In fact, I've seen some cases where people follow the advice of Taurus/2nd house individuals more often than other people's advice. They perceive it as being more valuable, I suppose.

Anuradha nakshatra individuals love movies about friendship and gore/horror movies. I think they like movies in general too.

Krittika nakshatra people are often perceived as "mean" or they say things that others take too personally? Idk but I know 3 cases like that. They are so unapologetic. The 3 of them were perceived as asexual too.

As a Swati moon I've always been obsessed with beauty, decorating, fashion and clothes, putting on creams, balms, perfumes and other products and it makes sense!

My obsession with beauty wasn't healthy tho. I suffered from mental illness and could see the slightest imperfection on my face. That's another thing about Swati individuals, they perceive every subtle, small detail and may become obsessed with stuff easily.

True crime documentaries are a Ketu woman´s best friend. Probably Ketu men as well, although what i observed from them is more of adventure movies, movies about survival or nature documentaries. Teen Wolf is the perfect Ketu people TV show. Criminal Minds too. And they were both created by a Ketu man.

I love Mercury nakshatra women's voices. They are also so funny and sarcastic.

I know three cases of people with a mix of tropical pisces/neptune and aquarius/uranus having lucid dreams/dreams they can partially control, and dreams about flying. They also rarely have nightmares but when they do it's not something happening to them but to other people, and they are there trying to help lol.

Rahu women or rahuvians in general could feel like they don't even understand themselves sometimes. They're so independent and hard to tame that they feel like they need something to "control" them or some kind of restraint, but nothing feels effective or worth it at the end. I observed in my grandma, a Swati moon woman, that she used to brag about how independent she was, refused to stay married, hated feeling restrained so much and then she ended up wishing someone took care of her, gave energy and time to her, took the lead for her. She doesn´t necessarily regret being someone unconventional and independent, but she recognizes that now that she is old.

Uttara Bhadrapada and Rohini nakshatra people like learning and are so curious about some aspects of sex, they may even want to be sexologists. Could also apply to Ardra.

Cancer women get a lot of hate for apparently no reason. I even heard people saying they hate Cancer women as if they knew all Cancer women in the world?? I think the most simple explanation for that is that Cancer represents a lot of what's a woman's nature and power which are erased in a patriarchy.

Everyone talks about how Aries people get over anger so easily and never hold grudges but I've actually seen the opposite. In a lot of cases they are worse than the common "resentful" water and earth signs.

Aries in general have a hard time apologizing. It's like they never did anything wrong, the others were just unfair to them. I know SO MANY examples of this unhealthy expression.

A nice observation now lol is that I've never met an Aries that didn't have beautiful red lips and cheeks.

I noticed a lot of Moon and some Mars people have a significant amount of moles/freckles. The Spanish word for mole is lunar lol.

People with Mercury/Saturn aspects or Saturn in the third house felt "dumb" when young. Because of it, they made a lot of efforts and worked hard to know stuff and be smart by reading a lot of books, watching a lot of documentaries and educational videos, playing general knowledge games, learning a lot of words and languages, taking a lot of classes, playing memory games, chess, and even researching cognitive processes and brain health.

I've noticed that many Sun dominant women have this lowkey unhealthy expression of not being good friends with other women/feminine individuals. They're the type to say women are a lot of drama or that they can't connect with them even though they don't have a specific problem with women. They may be friends with only guys, or feel isolated from women. They also used to want to be a guy or dressed/still dresses tomboyish (there isn't anything wrong with that). I think in a way it's completely understandable and even healthy! But some of them express a lot of internalized misogyny and unconscious projections that they can't or don't want to recognize. When their expression is healthy, Sun dominant people are totally the warmest, best friends. And just the type of person others need around and in their life.

Saturn in the 5th house people are often self-taught artists. Some people perceive them as boring because they can be really afraid of expressing themselves. They give a lot in romantic relationships and often don´t get the same in return but they want to keep going because they care about loving more than being loved.

Sagittarius people make good parents in general and they are so underrated as parents. They give their children freedom, make them experience fun things like traveling, and often spoil them in a good sense! They also teach them a lot of valuable things and make them laugh!

Virgos are the most considerate and thoughtful people. They remember stuff about you even if you barely know them and they barely know you. They give you what you need at the right moment. They remember how you make your bed, how you fold your clothes and then they surprise you with an act of service. They know exactly what to gift each person.

Saturn dominant people/saturn in the first house/conj ascendant could suffer from a lot of anxiety and overthinking. They also criticize themselves for irrelevant stuff and that's so sad because everytime I'm near a saturn dominant I can't get enough of their energy! There is something really pleasant about them. They are also giving, considerate and nice hosts/hostesses. They make people feel included and heard. I made a personal observation about saturn nakshatra men here (based in this video)

Ceres-ascendant aspects/Ceres in the 1st are the perfect homemakers.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks "Magneto was right" is bullshit? And really dangerous rhetoric to be spreading? I'm not really an X-Men fan, so maybe my opinion is invalid, but... (a venting rant, please ignore unless you are curious, not judgmental)

Look.

It's one thing for Magneto to be right within the universe of X-Men -- any X-Men iteration -- which gives a lot of evidence that the humans of that universe WON'T change and WILL see mutants dead before they are accepted.

Fine. Whatever.

But considering how so many see X-Men as a reflection of real world issues... we're really going this route? We're really saying violence and war is the only option?

Because people WILL map this onto real-world issues that they really shouldn't be. But the real world isn't a comic book. The conflicts are not oversimplified, and the "oppressed" and "oppressors" aren't always as clear as people think. More often, there is real hurt on both sides, and multiple facets the news can't capture.

Sometimes, both sides are violent assholes. And they will hold on to their rightness, to their feelings of being the only "oppressed" ones, to justify horrible things.

And who gets caught in the crossfire? We do. Ordinary people just trying to get by.

And the other thing is, violence and extremism makes for a better story, doesn't it? Better comics, better photos, better news readership. Peace... real peace is hard. It doesn't photograph well, like protest does. It needs to constantly be maintained, constant compromises. It doesn't make for a good movie, does it? Not a superhero movie, anyway. Or TV show.

It requires a maturity that most people? Will never reach.

Including the writers.

So screw your "Magneto was right". Maybe I'm wrong. I probably am! I'm probably letting my emotions about real world events get in the way. I don't like conflict or picking sides by nature, even when it's justified, and some will see that as a weakness of my character. Fine.

But I'm sorry, I just ... I refuse to accept that. Because I worry who is going to use that phrase as a rallying cry in the real world. And who will get hurt as a result because someone decided they "deserved" that.

This is also why I'm frankly not excited to bring the X-Men into the MCU. Because where there are X-Men, irrational hatred must follow, and I just... I don't want to see the MCU devolve into that. It will, of course, the die has been cast, but... I'm sad it came to that, because I'm not sure I trust the MCU writers as things stand to get this right.

In a world of superheroes and flying ships, the thing that takes real imagination is to see a world where peace is possible.

I'm not sure I'll ever have the writing chops to do it myself. But I endeavor to try harder than the X-Men writers clearly ever have.

Actually, I think Wonder Woman said it best: "It's not about deserve. It's about what you believe. And I believe in love."

Everything I Watched This Year

I have watched the most movies this year of my life, which is still so few that I can fit them all into one tumblr post, so here they are in approximately chronological order (along with TV shows). I almost exclusively watch visual media with other people, and they're often the ones picking. Favorites get an asterisk (*), and this does not include rewatches.

*Fallen Angels (Wong Kar-Wai): Five loosely connected lonely people chase imagined versions of each other around the Hong Kong nightscape. I didn't go into a plotless arthouse film expecting it to be extremely funny, but it is. He Zhiwu (my new tumblr icon!) deserves to be up there among the deranged autistic blorbos of all time.

What We Do in the Shadows (Showrun by Paul Simms and Stefani Robinson) [First half of S4]: If you're on tumblr you probably know the premise already. I was disappointed that after S3, which felt like a build to huge shifts in the characters and status quo, S4 felt like a walkback. Don't remember much else about it other than crying laughing at the sequence where they try to get baby Colin Robinson into private school.

Brokeback Mountain (Ang Lee): Everyone knows what this movie is already. It's well-made and solid, but it wasn't anything that exciting for me. I expected it to be more striking. Love the 70s home production design in that one scene though, and that kiss truly is good.

*Velvet Goldmine (Todd Haynes): A reporter tracks down the truth of a rock star gay affair that sparked his own queer coming of age. Dreamy, gorgeous, and I could not describe the plot scene to scene if you paid me. Just a really lovely film to experience for me, someone who had latent and unnamed transgay feelings as a teenager about the concept of "emo boys kissing."

Phantom of the Paradise (Brian De Palma): Phantom of the Opera-inspired drama about a songwriter getting revenge on the predatory producer that ruined his life. Total delight of a campy melodrama.

Kamikaze Girls (Tetsuya Nakashima): A delinquent and fashion-obsessed scam artist strike up a lesbian-tinged unlikely friendship. This movie is bananas. Way more stylistically experimental than I'd expected--there's a sequence of the protagonist's birth, people just float offscreen sometimes, the townspeople constantly turn to the camera and advertise for the megamart they buy all their clothes from, etc. A really really surprisingly fun watch.

*Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Hiroshi Kobayashi and Ryō Andō) [First 6 episodes only]: Optimistic young pilot of a war machine that she may have an illegal psionic connection with goes to space high school and is promptly drawn into political plotting via accidentally getting gay engaged to a corporate heiress. Highly enjoyed the parts of it I saw - great action sequences, fun character drama, and just enough political substance. Not as weird as Utena, which it's inspired by, but can be brutal where necessary. I should watch more!

*In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar Wai): Two Shanghainese emigrants in Hong Kong discover their spouses are cheating and embark on a tragic affair of their own. God, this movie deserves every bit of praise it gets. I gasped out loud multiple times at the gorgeousness of shot compositions. Top notch acting, gorgeous colors. This tends to be a movie pitched as being about a repressed love affair, but it's also a movie about the positionality about being middle class colonial subjects and the relationships they have with the world. This gave me so much to chew on after I watched it.

Happy Together (Wong Kar-Wai): Two Hong Kong expats living in Argentina have a toxic gay relationship trapped in a tiny apartment. This one felt very opaque to me, and it is allegedly an allegory for Hong Kong being returned to Chinese rule after British colonialism, which I absolutely do not have enough background to really get. Wong is a great director though, and I constantly think about the sequence of the main character seeing the abusive ex walk into the club, beat while he finishes his drink, and then he breaks his bottle off and goes in to screams.

Bound (The Wachowskis): A lesbian handyman falls for a woman married to an abusive mobster that they plot to rob. The first 45 minutes were very enjoyable as a lesbian heist film. Unfortunately, once the gunshots started the torture scenes became so stressful for me to watch that I sweated through my shirt. (I also had Covid).

This is going to be a personal ask - Do you think gay men and straight women make such great friends as shown in American movies?

American TV/movie depiction of queer men is overall very offensive. It's awful, fake and totally glosses over the reality of how homophobic even liberal Americans often are.

Yes, straight women and queer men can sometimes make natural allies/friends. Straight men usually make shitty friends to women, because there's almost always going to be a time when he tries to get her into bed. Straight men will often 'befriend' straight women in the hope of converting the relationship to a romantic or sexual one. With gay men, this is a total non-issue. It makes it easier for trust to take root and grow.

Gay men often enjoy friendships with straight women because women are not afraid of emotions, and there's much more freedom to break out of gender role stereotypes with women than with men.

Gay men and straight women also don't have to deal with the typical competitiveness that often exists in same sex friendships, which makes it easier to just relax and enjoy each other's company. Over time they can often develop strong sibling-like bonds that enrich both of their lives.

HOWEVER.

The depiction of gay male/straight female friendships in popular media should not be taken as reality. Those depictions often serve a heteronormative or even homophobic purpose.

It's not that depictions are necessarily always inaccurate, it's just that the depictions that are chosen tend to be very narrow and specific, and tend to perpetuate and reinforce certain stereotypes. The more these specific depictions are presented, the more the audience starts to perceive them as 'typical' when in fact they are not.

Think of all the minority group depictions in media, and how they tend to artificially narrow the public's perception of what that group is like. Muslim terrorists, greedy or comedic Jews, gang-affiliated black people, South Asian cab drivers. All these depictions are bigoted because they perpetuate harmful stereotypes and present them as representative of the group.

In that same sense, yeah, there are gay men who enjoy being 'one of the girls' in a group of women - getting manicures and facials and going shopping. Yeah, there are gay men who enjoy giving fashion advice and being a shoulder to cry on. Yeah, there are gay men who want to get married and have kids. But that by no means is representative of what gay men are typically like, or of what these friendships are typically like.

These depictions present gay men as empty, emasculated, 2-dimensional caricatures that exist only as an accessory to straight women's lives, which reinforces the widespread perception that gay lives are shallow and superficial, and that their needs/interests are subordinate to straight ones.

What does anyone walk away thinking about gay people after watching a depiction of them in mainstream media? That we are just sassy Ken dolls who are there to boost and serve straight women. It's not at all unlike how female characters often only exist as a narrative device to fulfill the story of the straight male protagonist.

All this trash also helps perpetuate the misogynistic, homophobic idea that gay men aren't 'real' men, that they are essentially just hairy women. It helps reinforce heteronormativity by depicting gays as wanting to live out the standard heteronormative fantasies - the house, the two kids, etc.

I've talked a lot about homophobia and gender role BS in the past, so I'll just give you some of those posts.

In general, if it's on mainstream TV you should question it. Any depiction of anyone, not just gay men. It's all written to appeal to and reinforce mainstream social standards, expectations and conceits. It's not there to show you how things really are.

And I feel the need to add - I'm not an expert on gay men and their relationships just because I'm gay. That's kind of the entire point, right? There exists a wide, broad, diverse range of people who have different personalities, values, interests and approaches. Therefore my views are not a representation of anyone other than myself.

if it's me & satoru at home, we're probably curled up on the couch playing a cozy game together, like animal crossing or stardew valley (me on my switch lite, him on the big switch connected to the tv). if i don't have the energy to play a game, we're probably watching a(t least one) ghibli movie and eating enough sugar to give us instant cavities.

if it's me & suguru, though, he probably coaxes me out to get some sun, because he knows i'm a homebody and am inclined to stay inside unless i have to go somewhere specific. so we'll go to a cafe near where we live & sit at one of the tables outside if the weather allows, or maybe take a little walk in the park with my dog. and then when we get home he's making dinner & i'm allowed to have a glass of wine if i want (only one though, i can't handle more than that), and we're listening to a podcast together to wind down.

now if we want to get smutty...

the most likely scenario is me feeling particularly touchy/amorous with sugu after dinner & my glass of wine honestly. he's very much a gentleman about it, because he also had a glass of wine but he's not tipsy like i probably get before i eat. once he's sure i'm really in the mood, he makes some cheeky comment about being ready for dessert before going down on me AHAHA. after that we're prone boning (his size kink goes nuts for it) & then spooning and falling asleep (but not before he reminds me to go to the bathroom so i don't get a uti). in the morning he's making me breakfast & i'm sitting in his lap wearing one of his shirts while he feeds me bc i'm sleepy.

HOBBIES - My hobbies don't consist of a lot of stuff but one of the main things I like to do is art! The type of art I like to do is mostly just drawing but I am currently learning how to do cosplay as well!!! I also just like to watch all types of movies and shows!

MUSIC - I like a lot of music! I mostly listen to KKB [Kero Kero Bonito] currently and I reallllyyyy suggest them to listen to if you're looking for new music!! I used to listen to Lovejoy a lot but I don't really listen to them at all anymore and that's mostly because of what Wilbur did... 1. ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? kind of. my middle name was the name of my dad's first partner (who was also my mum's good friend) who died. my mum and dad then ended up getting together after becoming close in their shared grief.

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED? about 4 minutes ago when i read something that moved me. i cry everyday, sometimes more than once. i'm highly emotional and there are always so many things around that can make me happy/sad/passionate/angry/moved etc.

Character ask: Hercules and Megara (Disney's "Hercules")

Hercules

Favorite thing about them: His innocence and likability. While he does have a touch of macho swagger at times – which is more "acting the way he thinks heroes act" than any real arrogance – he's basically just a normal, friendly, slightly goofy, kindhearted teenager who happens to be a musclebound demigod. He's as free of toxic masculinity as any version of Hercules/Herakles can be, and I love the way he blends courage with sweetness and vulnerability, especially in his romance with Meg. (I'm fairly sure that when he mourns Meg's death, he's the first adult, human, non-deformed male Disney hero to ever be shown crying.) His boyhood feelings of being a "freak" and not fitting in are poignant and relatable too, so his quest to rejoin the gods on Olympus, where he thinks he'll "belong," is an engaging one. So is his arc of learning that a "true hero" means something different than being a great, famous fighter, and that his birthplace isn't necessarily "where he belongs."

Least favorite thing about them: Two things. (1) The way he lashes out at Phil when the latter tries to convince him that Meg is a fraud. (2) The earlier moment when he's happy to hear that two little boys are trapped under fallen rocks, because it gives him the chance to prove his heroism by saving them. Even though it's played for laughs, it's still selfish of him. But I suppose that's part of the whole point of his character arc. While he's a good person and genuinely does want to help people, his deeds are always partly driven by the self-serving goal of earning back his godhood, which is why they don't prove him a "true hero." That he only becomes when he shows true selflessness for others – first when he faces near-certain death at the Cyclops's hands to save Thebes from destruction, and ultimately when he chooses to sacrifice his life for Meg.

In crossover-land, I also like the idea of him befriending Aladdin (as he did when their spinoff TV series had a crossover – their movies are especially similar in tone out of all the Disney canon, and Hercules's brawn combined with Aladdin's brain really would make them a good team), Ariel (a similarly naïve yet friendly, brave, and likable misfit – and if King Triton is the Triton from Greek mythology, then Ariel and Herc are first cousins once removed!), or Don Bluth's Anastasia (their respective movies have virtually the same plot in different trappings, so he would identify with her.)

Random headcanon: When he eventually dies, instead of going to the Underworld he finally will rejoin the gods on Olympus, and Meg will be granted immortality to join him there.

Unpopular opinion: Sometimes it seems unpopular to like him. Repeatedly I've seen him either dismissed as a bland protagonist overshadowed by the other characters (especially Hades) or hated for not being 100% selfless and perfect. So even though he does have his fans too, I'll list the fact that I like him as my unpopular opinion.

Favorite thing about them: In the first place, she's a fun character, with her sassy personality and all her clever, funny lines. I also love her complexity and uniqueness among the Disney heroines. A tough, jaded heroine who masks her inner pain with snarky humor? A morally gray heroine who starts out working for the villain and has a redemption arc? Maybe common in other movie genres, but not so common in Disney's animated canon! Family media is filled with the trope of "prickly cynic with a hard past and a hidden heart of gold meets and learns to love an innocent ray of sunshine who sees their inner goodness" – Disney has used that trope many times. But those pairings are usually "male cynic/female innocent," not the reverse, and I love that Hercules gender-flips that standard romance arc! That combined with Meg's playful wit makes her a favorite Disney heroine of mine.

Also, while she's far from the only Disney heroine or hero to temporarily "die" but then be revived near the end, she's one of the very few who explicitly really do die (not just lose consciousness or be put under a spell), in an especially brutal, self-sacrificing way too, and the only one revived by having her spirit physically brought back from the afterlife! That's fascinating stuff for child viewers in our culture where death is so often treated as taboo!

Least favorite thing about them: Well she does spend about 2/3rds of the movie (reluctantly) working for Hades and helping him try to bring Hercules down. But of course her redemption is part of the whole point of her character.

1. Are you named for anyone?: I am actually! My real first name is the feminized version of my fathers.

2. When was the last time you cried?: The day I watched The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies I sobbed my heart out. That was, what, 4 days ago I think? I'm now about to watch LOTR: Return of the King and I suspect I'll be crying then too. Nearly cried multiple times two days while watching Fellowship and any allusion and mention to the events of the hobbit gave me feels. BUT! I did not cry. I'm quite proud of myself for that. Oh wait. No I lied. I definitely cried when they found Balin's tomb in Moria and Oris skeleton was there next to the tomb.

3. Do you have kids?: Nope. Not at all and I don't want kids. I'm never going to have children. I've got my cat: Sable. She's my baby. For now and forever all my children will be cats.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?: Lol yeah I do. Far too often. I need to tune it down sometimes lol.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?: Oh interesting. Umm... I guess either their tone of voice is they speak first. I'm very conscious of people's tone of voice. If they don't speak I'm usually noticing style of clothing.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?: Happy endings definitely. But I love scary movies and so many of them don't necessarily end happily. Don't enjoy movies that end sadly.

8. Any special talents?: Uhhh yes? Let me see...I can play the trumpet and the bugle (pretty much the same instrument just a bugle has no valves). I can crochet. I can pick a padlock. I can operate a 1940s era switchboard and field phones. I can untie any knot you give me no matter how complicated (my sister uses this weird super power of mine all the time when her box of necklaces get tangled together. 9. Where were you born?: Ohio in the USA. Not getting more specific than that sorry.

10. What are your hobbies?: My main hobbies are crocheting and historical reenacting. That's where I put all my time and money. Some other things I enjoy as a hobby are photoshop editing, writing, reading fanfic, watch tv/movies, and seeing musicals at the theater.

11. Have you any pets?: Yup! Got a cat named Sable, my weird little rescue baby. And I've got a dachshund/jack russell mix named Penny. She's 13 years old and still a spitfire.

What sports do you play/have played?: I don't play anything now because I'm super lazy and poor and all the leagues around me cost like $200 to play but I played softball and volleyball in high school. Volleyball is my favorite sport. I miss it terribly. I was a libero. Did basketball for a year but ended up hating it. And on occasion I'd play touch football with the neighborhood guys. I couldn't pass for shit but I'd catch anything thrown at me. Also, and I'll fight you on this, but marching is a sport and I was in marching band all throughout high school and college. I consider that my main sport.

14. Favorite subject in school?: History!!! I loved that subject so much I took two history classes at once in senior year and then went on to get two degrees in it.

15. Dream job?: I'm gonna be really borng here for a second but I don't think I have a dream job anymore. Mainly cause I really don't want to work. I want to have enough money in my life to never have to work at all. But since that's not the case, my dream job is something related to history. Something where I can sit all day surrounded by historical objects. Spending the day by myself, only having to talk to someone on occasion, where I just get to sit at a desk and look at historical stuff. My dream job is quiet and peaceful but has fun times with a few coworkers. I get to do something that gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. • As at home as you are at their house it's odd to think that they'd never stayed the night at yours. Since the events of the night started because Boris caught you upset, he's gonna be a bit of a worry wart.

• Silly Time™️ isn't exclusive to their house you know! Boris might lay it on little thick but that's cause he considers crying a big deal, even if it was over something small, so to combat your previous tears he has made it his goal to keep you cheered up for the remainder of the night.

• This leaves you in the precarious position of a potential tickle monster attack so be sure to choose your words and actions very carefully!

• While Kamal seems chill. He's actually just as worried. He might be sassy and sarcastic, but he does care about you just as much.

• When Boris first texted him saying that you were upset about something, he was originally going to respond that he'd swing by later with something to eat and just ask Boris to keep you company until then. But when Boris followed up that you had been crying, he dropped what he was doing and got in his car. Asked the guy at the Chinese place to be generous with the portions too.

• He's cool about it and gets a better understanding of the situation when he gets there, but he's still worried about you. He knows what pent-up stress can be like and sometimes it takes more than a good cry to relieve it all.

• So while you've got the green giant trying every which way to squeeze as many smiles out of you as possible, Kamal tries to pry a little bit, asking you about work and other little things that might give him a better idea of how you're actually doing without outright asking you what happened.

• Sure Boris has already backwashed into the gallon of milk in your fridge and Kamal is slowly getting concerned by your unhealthy eating habits the more he pokes around your kitchen but you really do begin to relax, enough that you almost forget why they are here in the first place.

• Boris acts like this is the first sleepover the three of you have ever had, and when you bring up that you've spent many nights at their place he insists that this is different!

"There is a big difference between staying the night and having a sleepover!"

"Is there?" You and Kamal ask in unison.

"Of course there is! We are going to watch movies and eat popped corn and stay up late having fun! That is a sleepover! And it is at your house this time, so it is extra special!"

• Boris is the first to crash, right around midnight (impressive for him!) on the couch beside you; leaving you and Kamal to half-watch the quieted TV and talk while finishing off your leftover take-out.

• This is when Kamal takes the time to actually ask you if everything's okay and you assure him that you are, sometimes feelings just bubble over.

"I know the feeling, kid, trust me."

"Yeah, Boris just walked in at the wrong time, haha..."

"Nah, I don't think so."

"Hm?"

"I mean, I'm glad he did. Otherwise, a little buddy of mine would have spent the night alone when they should have had their friends there to help them unwind." Kamal made himself comfortable in the makeshift blanket bed he'd made for himself on the floor of your living room. "In fact, maybe we should check up on you more often?" He joked, rolling onto his side and closing his eyes with a grin "But yeah, I'm glad he did, I'd even say that his timing was juuuust right."

There was some silence as you watched him settle down for the night, thinking hard on what he'd just said before looking between him and Boris and settling on the couch beside the latter, who was quick to cuddle you to his side, even while fast sleep.

"Yeah...yeah, me too."

• When you wake up the next morning, Boris is making breakfast for eveyone in your kitchen like he often does at his house, but you're not sure where he got half the ingredients since you're positive they were not things you had in your fridge.

Honest question: what _would_ be the way an unrequited will_>mike crush could work, in your opinion? Cause your post seems to rule out most possible outcomes, so I was wondering how you'd fine with it

I'll start with the words from byler shipper that I read on twitter. "if byler is one sided that doesn't have to be bad"

It doesn't HAVE to be bad, to hear that from someone who ships the ships and can still see a positive in a one sided outcome is what made me relax a little. She's right, it doesn't have to be terrible and my past experienced don't mean much if it's done well.

That said, I'd like to go over the examples I wrote in more detail.

“Lol, they never loved them anyway! It was all a misunderstanding! A joke! Haha! Anyway, they married their TRUE love just now and it’s someone else entirely. Isn’t that great?”

This first example is what happened in the series that shall not be named. For many years, the main character was clearly in love with the other main character, but the final part was released and they ended up with someone else entirely. Not only that, the following content after that went from "It wasn't actually love, it was just a crush." to "It wasn't a crush, it was just admiration." to "It wasn't admiration, they were just using them."

If you're going to go with an unrequited love story, let it be unrequited! Too often these writers try to find a way to "fix" it. Like "Oh they weren't actually in love." Let them be in love. Let the other not reciprocate. It's not that big of a deal don't erase everything that came before. It's not BAD to not have your feelings reciprocated, sometimes it happens.

“Oopsie, this character will never be able to move on and be miserable forever and ever! Boo hoo 😢. TRAGEDY, THEY END THEIR LIFE, THEY’RE DEVASTATED AND HATE EVERYONE”

This is another unrequited love scenario that I just hate. When the feelings aren't mutual, the person turns into a completely out of character dickwad and goes full scorched earth over it. SPECIFICALLY when it is not in that person's character to act that way.

Like if this is a weirdo freaky character that of course would go completely insane when someone says no, that's different than a pretty normal person suddenly going full coo-coo for cocoa puffs over something like this.

It's perfectly within reason, for example, to get upset. Maybe an argument. Some crying. And inevitably distancing yourself maybe. But imagine a character like Will going full "If I can't have you no one can!!!" Yeah hell no. Don't turn characters into psychos please.

“Oh they THOUGHT they were in love but they got over it in literally 2 seconds after they blinked once and GASP! A brand new interest and this time it’s for REAL!”

This one isn't necessarily BAD but it's extremely cliche, especially for the gay best friend trope. Gay best friend doesn't win the best friend over the girl. But le gasp, 5 minutes later gay best friend drops his handkerchief and another gay man picks it up for him and suddenly there is a twinkle in their eyes kind of stuff.

That is cheap, shallow, and lazy, though I feel like this is more of a movie cliche than a tv cliche. Then again, I don't watch that many tv shows. If they're going to be this shallow with it, I'd rather Will didn't like Mike and it starts with someone entirely new instead (this acknowledging that Will most certainly likes Mike)

All that said, what do I think would be ok? Well, it's not really my place to say what is or isn't ok. I'm not a shipper. But as a wanna be writer/artist....

Unrequited love isn't BAD. But if they're going to write this, they need to make it about WILL and him being himself and discovering himself. NOT what he is LOSING. Don't make it about Mike. Don't make it about El. Make it about Will accepting HIMSELF even if he gets rejected. This character arc should not be based on one boy and one boy only (Mike), it should be about boys in general and finally "release" him.

Let's say Will himself has been in denial about his own feelings all this time. "I don't like him like THAT. He's just my bff. And he's a guy. This isn't love. No way. I'm not gay. I'm not what my dad calls me. The bullies aren't right." which I can totally see being the case.

Then, continue this story with Will putting two and two together. "Oh shit, maybe I do... maybe I am... oh no."

Allow him a cathartic release even if he knows what the answer might be. "I know you might not feel the same, but I love you. I wanted to say it before it's too late." (too late in this case being they might die so no regrets) Let him speak the words. Let him reveal himself to the people he cares about. Let him finally get the pat on the shoulder that it's ok even if his love isn't reciprocated.

Coming from the perspective of a Will fan (Byers family fan really), I want this love arc to be about Will finally, FINALLY coming into himself and not letting people run over him. Let him finally say the words and not feel like the awkward 3rd, 4th, and 5th wheel of his friend group. If they all survive this, let him finally have a place in the discussion to talk about his interests like other teenagers do (in this case, with his new sister and Max probably cause they also like boys for the most part)

I want him to be hopeful about his future and finding someone just for him. He shouldn't have to look longingly and sad at Mike for the rest of his life, don't make the misery last forever and ever. The conclusion to all this should be freedom and happiness.

I realized my dread is from the fear that people are only thinking about the ship, and how terrible it would be if the ship fails (which it would be if you ship the ship). I'm also worried how Will's personal arc might slip through peoples fingers if the ship potentially isn't to be. Know what I mean?

I still fear the writing, if the writers can pull off a satisfactory arc like this for Will, but also not make Mike out to be a bad guy or something because they consistently do that when it comes to ships.

Stancy vs Jancy. What did they do? They made Nancy out to be terrible (she wasn't) and to some viewers, made it ambiguous if she cheated or not (she didn't)

Max and El's friendship. What did they do? Made Hopper overly aggressive and unreasonable (cause haha funny). Made Mike and Lucas into complete doofuses (I mean they are kids and can be stoopid but jeez)

To a lesser extent, Lumax and Dustin. What did they do? Made Dustin just as incompetent as Steve even though Dustin didn't really seem that stupid. But again, it wasn't that bad compared to the others.

I feel like, in order to make Will's arc happen, they might go to far and make Mike a jackass or something (ignoring Will almost completely like he's a second thought or be rude to him for no reason). Firstly, I would think Mike would've grown past that because of everything that happened in season 3. If he still didn't learn his lesson from all that..... he is NOT on a good path.

Secondly, it will create more division in the fanbase. You'll have Will fans angry at Mike for ignoring his friends. You'll have Mike fans being overly defensive (as they were after season 3) excusing his bad friend behavior because "Will is annoying". You'll have a portion of the mileven fanbase also getting defensive and upset about "third wheeling" even if Will isn't trying to be a third wheel. You'll have byler fans getting defensive about all of the above and the fighting goes on and on in a cycle it goes.

I know some anons a while back were probably rolling their eyes like "Of course she'd blame all this on the writing" but this is exactly what I'm talking about.

Whether it's a fan or the writing team itself, when you only know how to develop a character or relationship by putting another character down, you start to cause unnecessary rifts. There are gonna be rifts anyway but you're actively making them even worse. You really don't have to do it that way and so I hope they don't.

Do you ever get groceries delivered to your house? No, we do the groceries ourselves. Grocery deliveries were much more commonplace when the pandemic used to be a bigger concern, but I hardly hear of anyone availing that kind of service anymore.

What was the last job interview you went to where you didn't get the job? Do you think the interview went well or not? For a multinational e-commerce brand. I think I handled it well, but I was also admittedly a little wet behind the ears for the role I was applying for so I don't really resent them for not taking me. At the time I was also extremely burned out and just wanted a way out of my workplace, so the decision to apply was honestly mostly an impulsive move.

3. 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?

I'm gonna cheat a little but I could honestly watch the BBC miniseries adaptation of North and South (2004) any day of the week. It's so good. Just the perfect period drama.

I also love the movie The Waterhorse (2007). It makes me cry every time and the music is gorgeous. James Newton Howard is one of my absolute favourite composers. (the music for North and South is also choice actually)

And finally, the original LOTR (2001 - 2003) movies (extended editions of course 😉) They're so beautiful. and again the musicccccccccc

I tend to be more of a TV person than a movie person though (as you can probably tell lol)

8. any reacquiring dreams?

I'm going to give op the benefit of the doubt and assume they meant "reoccurring" dreams rather than dreams that included plots about re-acquiring something, or indeed re-acquiring the dream itself.

Now that I've been pedantic, I've gotta confess, I don't dream that often, or when I do, they tend to be non-sensical and vague with no plot, more ... shapes and vibes ...

When I was younger my dreams were more plot-focused, and I used to have two pretty bizarre re-occurring dreams/nightmares.

The first was definitely a nightmare. Asterix (yes from the comics) used to chase me around a huge abandoned creaky house with a bloody axe. That was no fun.

The other one is a bit of an odd one. It was less of a re-occurring dream and more of a re-occurring scenario. I used to "wake up" in this giant, labyrinthine, spaceship prison. It was in the shape of a giant ball, just moving slowly through space to its eventual destination (it never arrived). And I would have to escape. Sometimes with friends, sometimes with characters of whatever I was interested in, sometimes alone. Sometimes it would be a nightmare, sometimes it would be an adventure. Sometimes we would succeed, sometimes we would fail. And the inside of the prison was different every time. A solution one night wouldn't work the next (even if I could remember it).

But yeah ... I haven't woken up there in a while.

34. any pet peeves?

I was thinking about this just the other day! Very small in the scheme of things but I really don't like it in fan-works when people use nicknames that aren't canon. Like, have a character call a different character something that they never have before.

It really annoys me, because like, one, usually they're not even good nicknames, and two, and this might be psycho-analysing it a bit, but to me, if you're not even going to pay attention to or care about what your characters call each other (as a baseline), what does that say about your relationship to the rest of the canon? Can I trust you with it? Do you actually know this world and these characters or is it all going to be OOC? Obviously fan-works are malleable and transformative by nature, and how "canon-compliant" a work is is going to be a little bit different every time, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth whenever I see it.

The one exception to this is if a nickname is assigned due to something that happens in the fic itself. That's fine. Usually.

But idk, I'm not a huge fan of nicknames generally, so I guess it bleeds over a little bit when I'm reading.

Bokuto is your first boyfriend, and he is your first for everything.

He is always patient and never rushes you.

You two always do things at your pace because he doesn't want you to feel uncomfortable.

But, you know that sooner or later, you two would have sex.

And the thought of it scares you.

You were brought up in a traditional and conservative family; sex was never really mentioned.

Most of your friends are experienced and often give you advice on how to do it.

Some of your 'friends' told you that he will leave you if you don't have sex with him soon.

"I'm not ready...I don't want to do this, Kou. Are you going to leave me?" Bokuto was confused; why the hell would you come to a conclusion that ridiculous just because you didn't want to have sex with him?

He cups your face and makes you face him.

"Babe, it's okay if you're not ready. We don't have to do this if you don't want to. We can stop. I'll never leave you. Was it those friends of yours again? Dump them. If my baby doesn't want to have sex, then we shall not. We shall do it when you're ready, okay? Don't feel pressured by them; we do this at our pace. Now, do you want to watch a movie and cuddle?" You meekly nodded your head, and he kisses your forehead and on the lips.

Bokuto went back to the room and came back with a big fleece blanket.

"Virgin or not, I will always love you. Don't listen to the rubbish they are talking about. If you wanna have sex, we can do it. As long you are comfortable, that is all I want. Don't blame yourself, okay?" He flicked your forehead when he noticed your sad pout.

He set up the TV and dims the lights in the living room. You sat in his lap, and he wraps the blanket around the two of you as the movie starts playing.

It seems like he has found his match. His fans were glad to see him in a relationship where he is genuinely happy.

Before Atsumu, you dated a couple of guys, and it was all bad experiences.

Your first boyfriend forced you to give your virginity to him, and he was older, so you thought that was what you're supposed to do in a relationship.

The second guy just took advantage of your vulnerability and exploit you in the worst possible ways.

You met Atsumu while working as a pilates instructor, and their's team trainer introduced you to him.

And you two have been dating for about two years after knowing for about a year.

Sex...you two did talk about it, but you were just not ready to do it after all the traumatic experiences.

And, he was okay with it.

You felt bad because sometimes you can hear him touching himself, yet you can't help him with his needs.

You lifted up your head, and his heart ached at the sight of your tear-stained cheeks.

"I'm sorry for not being able to things like a normal couple. I just thought that you might leave me if we don't have sex..." He shook his head and cups your face in his hands.

"I can wait as long as you are ready to do it. I'm not going to leave you just because we can't have sex. If I have any urges, I'll just touch myself or something. "Fine, I won't laugh but get those strawberries and get out of the kitchen." You loop your arms around his neck to bring him down to your height for a kiss.

He lets you go and got the strawberries to the living room but his eyes were admiring your back as you return back to cooking.
