hello! can i ask you a question? what did you think of cassie in the 2003 run of teen titans? I remember disliking her a lot, but I don't know if it's because of the writing or because I was much more a Rose stan at the time (in my defence i was a littol teenager, i was dumb and only had one blorbo).

hi! i’m not a big fan of cassie in the 2003 teen titans. geoff johns (sigh) writing is lowkey painful to read through a modern lense. he oversexualizes her and she’s generally ooc. not my fav. this carries into the new52. here’s my background recs for each yj member and what yj stuff i would recommend:

cassie:

- wonder woman (1987) #105 is her debut. she appears periodically in the rest of the run. i would recommend #106, 107, 109-113, 139-144, and 156-158, 166, 167, 171, 172, and 174-176.

- wonder woman secret files and origins #1 and 3

- teen titans spotlight: wonder girl. not bad compared to the actual run.

- wonder girl: growing pains #1

kon:

- the death of superman. not required reading but helpful background if you haven’t read it before.

- reign of the supermen. kon’s first appearance and his origin.

- return of superman

- superboy (1994)

- superboy and the ravers. not required but it’s a bit of fun and he meets bart in issue #7.

- superman action comics: the house of kent. not really required but i like the storyline a lot.

bart:

- flash vol. 2 (1994) #91-100 is his first appearance.

- impulse (1995)

- the flash: mercury falling. not required but i like the story a lot.

tim:

- a lonely place of dying. tim’s début and first time as robin.

- batman #455-457

- robin (1993)

tbh there’s a lot of tim stuff out there and you don’t need to read a ton before young justice (i’ve barely scratched the surface on it lol). just enough to get a feel for his character.

and finally, what i would recommend for young justice:

- superboy/robin: worlds finest three. kon and tim’s first team up.

- jla: world without grownups

- young justice: the secret

- young justice (1998)

- titans/young justice: graduation day

- young justice (2019). thought bendis did an okay job.

so that’s the recs! i would recommend you stay away from anything new52 for young justice and any of the characters. for superboy, impulse, and robin solo runs, you really don’t need to read the entire runs before yj. just enough to get a feel for the characters. tbh you can also just hop right into young justice (1998) if you want. that’s what i did and then did background reading later. anyway hope this was helpful!

since I (apparently) can’t get enough of these two, I made some littol comicks for them, which can be found under the cut. they’re all G/t, but no vore. there’ll also be another thing or two related to the above piece ‘cause I like how it looks

1. Kissing a giant or a tiny is hard when you don’t have lips. And when you get too involved and your proboscis gets stuck to your partner’s face, that doesn’t help either.

2. I heckin love drawing bug hands. All segments and curves and sharp edges—much easier than human hands. Oh and Xero has scars because hecc u, he’s a warrior. He may or may not be a little self-conscious about them. Why are they in places that would be unreachable with the helmet on? Uhhhhhh well that’s why he wears a helmet now, so there. gog dangit I forgot to go back and add them into the colored pic

3. Markoth, being a moth, is very impressed by his friend’s ability to pick up a nail longer than he is tall. Better not let him see what Sly can do, lmao. Also Mark’s moth status is relevant because they’re a pacifistic race and his fighting style is self-taught. Thus, no one taught him how to properly take care of his nails. and Xero has his helmet on for this because there’s no reason to have it off and it’s way easier to draw than those freakiNG MANDIBLES- -oh yeah, and the background. I start drawing organic repetitive patterns and autopilot go brrrrr

anyway! the other things I wanted to share, regarding the first drawing:

whenever Mark sticks out his proboscis, the tongue goes with it. thought it was a fun little detail to include. Markoth, of course, would vehemently deny that this habit is adorable, but Seer and Xero both disagree

and then we have this lineless version, because I was messing around with the layers and thought it looked neat

its somewhat heartbreaking to think about how lived in lmanburg was until its end.. like in the first two seasons you could walk around and meet people and talk and enjoy each others company and build and laugh and just have fun or even talk about serious things and plans and trauma and hurt but in the end youd part and feel like family. but now in season three theres so many factions but, shit, so many of them arent lived in. ironically, foolishs summer home was amazingly lived in despite what quackity said. las nevadas is lived in.

but otherwise, kinoko kingdom is practically empty with one of its residents asleep 90% of the time and another comforting the last resident as he loses his memory to things he cant explain. snowchester *was* lived in, and sure, michael and tubbo are still there, but theres an empty mansion and ranboo still wont move in and neither will tommy and jack and puffy are barely around and foolish left. nikis secret city has two people but neither are really around there. the arctic anarchists commune is isolated and its been what, a month? and technos still in jail and phil and ranboo have been out, and shit man, the greater smp feels weird to walk around, so many signs of life yet barely anyone around

and of course theres little bursts of energy. lsandberg, las nevadas, the beetroot farm. but its not consistent, really. so many things are on hold or coming soon and it feels like the tensions about to snap and there will be energy soon but. right now theres little events, then the excitement dies down and everyone leaves and you can practically explore the entire smp without running into anyone and god, thats a little scary, yeah?

lmanburg was fucked, but damn if it didnt inspire people to be alive. even in the season 2 finale, they all banded together. i want that to happen again. i truly do appreciate what creators like puffy and ponk and sam and quackity do, i just also hope that with the events that are about to drop (like whats going on with ponk sam and foolish) are going to inspire some sort of energy.

i wanna see the smp have nearly everyone online again, even if its just a few times. everyones so separated now, i want to see something bring them back together and make them realize that they miss each other and make them talk and realize theres still so much to do and live for. something that keeps everyone going

say what you want about lmanburg, but it gave *everyone* a chance at being in the story, i hope something like that can happen again

I /loved/ like every scene with Sasha, that's literally no surprise. But I'm soooo happy we got to see her have some interests outside of what you'd expect from her with her herbology skills.

Max falling asleep like a littol baby was adorable af, literally everytime hes seen asleep hes like a little angel, I literally can't. I'm glad he also learned a lesson at the end of the episode, heres to hoping /that/ carries on and isnt forgotten (*coughcough*nurf*coughcough*)

And as much as I LOVE the main trio, Max going out with other characters was refreshing to see, like that scene in parents day or that episode where he and d//lph were friends?? (Even tho it reminded me more of lois and stewie in that one episode of family guy)

Pikeman was bearable I'm this episode!! I'm glad we got to know a bit more about him, too!! I feel like hes got a lot of pressure on him because he's senior patrol leader so him needing validation was kinda sweet

The backgrounds in this episode??? SOOOO pretty. I love the artists. The lighting was so good, and as someone who's been trying to work on her background skills (if you follow my personal and check out my art tag you'll know what I'm talking about) I look at a lot of the coloring for inspiration

I honestly thought something was going to happen to Sasha in this episode. Like a plot twist where she had glasses in the box of confiscated items, or that her hair was going to catch fire in the ending, I dont know if I could say I'm disappointed more than I'm/surprised/, but then again, there are like?? 10 more episodes left I think?? If we get another flower scouts scene/episode, theres a chance the "our appearance changed" pattern will continue

So like, theres still the masha shaped elephant in the room y'all are waiting for me to scream about. Honestly?? I love masha to bits, it's a comfort ship for me and junk, yadayada, but I'm glad they just had /BASIC/ fuel for shippers and nothing serious. I still want a full on sasha redemption, she and the other scouts need to apologize to Nikki BIG TIME.

I honestly dont even /want/ masha to become canon as a couple. A few cute banters ar eachother and compliments?? That's chill. But then itd get... annoying?? Its be unnecessary, unless it was for a plot for an episode or even an arc (which I'll have to discuss on a later post)

Overall, I /really/ love this episode. Leigh did an amazing job writing it and I can easily say it's on my top 10 episode list (maybe top 5??) And shes become one of my favorite writers jdjbdf

hey that sux bro.......... just the word school sent me down a fkn dark spiral.......i totally get why you're down about it and honestly it's ok to be, it's ok to acknowledge the crappiness. having to deal w so much pressure for shit that barely even matters in the adult world is genuinely fuckin annoying!! and sometimes the frustration is the only tangible thing!! but it's also like. the future is an abstract and ever changing concept, it doesn't even exist yet. nothing is set in stone. if you begin to struggle with your grades at any point, then you can always try out different studying methods and talk to your teachers about it - there's always something to fall back on. they make it seem so life or death but there's no wrong way to find what works for you. it's not the beginning or end of the world. it may feel like it at times, but try to keep some perspective. the fact that you care about your academic career to any extent is a really positive sign, n i'm proud of you for that ! :) but how well you 'perform' is genuinely not indicative of your intelligence, your worth or your future happiness. it's hard to really live your life with that mindset when there's so many outside influences trying to sell you bullshit, but it is possible to take things at your own pace and practice self compassion when possible. even if it doesn't work every time, just the fact that you're trying is good enough. and it always comes back to that. same thing with your school work, literally all you can do is try your best in the moment dude. if you're willing to do that, then a path will open up for you. even if it's not what you expect it to be. i'm assuming you're pretty young and so you have all of the time in the world to build n grown n learn. like yeah u ARE baby and the world is cruel and teachers are dumb as shit sometimes but....... you're more capable than you will ever fully realise. you're the main character, but you can choose to remain in the background when you need a break. even just mentally. and maybe you think that doesn't apply to you, maybe your low self esteem won't let you see it, but i'm not just saying it for no reason!! you will be seen and known and it will be hellish but at the end of the school year, you'll be wiser n it'll have nothing to do a your grades really. i'll be rooting for you bro. keep in mind that there's always people to talk to, whether it's a counselor or a teacher or a parent or a friend, anyone. you're not alone and you don't have to confront the tribulations of life as if you are. it's ok to lean on others and to be vulnerable despite the embarrassment. ANYWAY ! good luck with everything angel, i'm sure it's not going to be as bad as your mind is trying to convince you it will be. if you need a friend feel free to hmu. i'll be here, and i understand venomous hate for the educative system.
