Have you watched three of BatGames' rant videos about ToTK? I'm curious what you think about them

I'm sorry I had never replied to this ask!!! My brain was full of worms for my defense (it's a bad defense I know I'm sorry).

I have seen two out of three! But I pretty much agree with what I've seen. I would have liked to see the whole ideological shenanigans touched on, but it's a really *really* niche critique after all (unfortunately), so I, yeah. I think he paints a really good portrait of what did bother me otherwise, and even helped me formulate things I knew bothered me but I hadn't truly addressed in my head yet.

I'm not always super fond of all the theory stuff he does, but we're on the same wavelength when it comes to TotK's shortcomings!

Another piece I drew from a while ago! Somewhere deep in my heart I kinda wish Obito'd won and just like put the world to sleep ya know, but then there'd be Kaguya and everything?? I'm actually not quite sure, that part is very blurry in my mind. Well point of this one is, I just wanted to draw something that looks sweet and sad and bitter and everything in between. Not sure if it really got across, I personally love this though 😭😭😭 Really went overboard with the effects but ummm I'm just extra okay spare me The original file is quite big, I had to compress it so the quality went down, you can't really zoom in all that much. Just started thinking about labor and delivery nurse Steve Harrington having to fill in for his best friend Robin in the ER at the last minute on his off week

And who stumbles in (comes in on a stretcher) but rock star Eddie Munson who fell off the stage at his show just because he’s incredibly clumsy (this isn’t even the first time it’s happened). His leg is very obviously broken at the knee because he broke his fall with it and he’s struggling to focus on questions because of the pain.

One of his bandmates came with him, Jeff, who Eddie keeps referring to as his mom on the road. Jeff calls Eddie’s next of kin so they can focus on giving him a scan, pain meds, and setting his leg as soon as possible.

The pain meds kick in fast and he’s flirting with Steve nonstop.

And he’s good.

He hits all of Steve’s buttons: the obnoxious pet names that should be annoying but aren’t, the casual touches to his hands and arms as he gets him comfortable, the lines he’s using that are stupid but adorable.

He has no reason to stay after they take care of his major injury and the one spot on his arm that needed stitches. He didn’t hit his head and passes all the concussion protocol tests, his stats are normal, his pain is being managed with a prescription of Tylenol with codeine. He can go home.

But Eddie insists he should have Steve’s number in case he gets worse (he won’t) or has questions (google is available). Steve gives him his number.

He texts him almost immediately.

And keeps texting him for days.

Weeks.

Calls him every morning before Steve’s shifts. Every time his post-show adrenaline matches up with Steve’s lunch breaks. Every time their schedules sync up.

And then he shows up randomly to get his cast removed.

Steve reminds him he could’ve gone anywhere, especially because he was working his usual floor.

Eddie reminds him that he wanted an excuse to see him.

Steve manages to grab a 30 minute lunch break when all his fellow nurses and doctors find out his Eddie is visiting.

When Eddie leaves, it’s with a promise to be back when tour ends in less than a month, a promise to take Steve on a real date, and a promise to be the best damn boyfriend Steve’s ever had.

Why is it, when someone makes a positive post about Harry highlighted with canon evidence, there must be people trying to contradict it.

You can literally prove how Harry is academicaly above average and there will still be people who would be like "Yes but I still think he's not good enough."

You will make a post about how Harry is hyperaware except when it comes to romance and people will still say "Yes but he's oblivious to everything"

Holly shit can you just accept facts as it is without trying to contradict it with your opinion?

Giving nuances to the statement is absolutely valid. Trying to contradict an explicit canon evidence is just delusional.

I don’t like minimizing the importance and gravity of Laios and Toshiro’s fight into just being a childish squabble, even if to a degree it is framed that way, because to both of them it has a lot of personal significance and emotional weight and runs very deep to their characters… The fight isn’t nothing it’s a LOT, they made up but it’s not something easy to express and to get over for either of them which makes it all the more meaningful! I’m on both sides but there very much are sides, there’s no "they’re both having a ball, Toshiro and Laios hand in hand yay" side to the fight, that comes after

The fight with Toshiro WAS very scary to Laios, almost existentially so, but it’s moreso the "I thought I’d made a friend!!" bit and my god. My god actually

Like it’s not "just" about oh his friend liking him less than he thought, THAT IS SO MUCH. It’s a bond he thought he had being a lie it’s all the time and moments spent together either being a lie from his perspective or marred now looking back. It’s not only being upset at Toshiro for lying but upset at himself that he’s so easy to fool, it’s being upset that there’s something so wrong with you that you can’t even tell if your "close buddy" even actually likes you or not, it’s like. Holding my head. He can’t trust his own vision of events that happened do you see. There’s always this film of distrust that it could be a lie that should be there when he interacts with people there’s always this sense of cloak and dagger to expect backstabs out of nowhere because you CAN’T see it coming you CAN’T you CAN’T there’s something about you which makes it impossible so you CAN’T-

He’s so scared of not being able to read people. He knows it’s a weak spot he has, he’s always known. All of these bits are centered around social expectations and betrayals, the assumption that he doesn’t belong either in society or with other humans.

And Laios’ level of awareness is actually sort of complex to analyze, but it’s there, there’s how out of him and Falin he was the one sensitive to the ~aura of hatred~ he felt from the townspeople, there’s of course his nightmares whispering to him about the mocking looks, and how yeah actually he realizes that his gold stripper coworker was taking advantage of him. There’s of course the Winged Lion speech about his trauma and how he fundamentally mistrusts/dislikes humans to some deep seated degree, this distrust that he still keeps under control always. There’s how pre-canon he often wanted to suggest eating monsters but never worked up the courage to bring it up with the others. There’s how he comes across as stoic when he isn’t being enthusiastic…… We don’t know how aware and wary he is exactly in the moment but we do know he has some anxiety around social stuff, and looking back he does notice and aughh augh, the sense you have to hide yourself to not get hurt, and be on your guard and shit and.

When you don’t know what to look out for and when to look out for it, the general ‘common sense’ of not always trusting people or noticing when someone’s messing with you becomes hypervigilance in social settings

"Man they really know what you hate huh." Being socially unaware literally plagues him, he knows, he knows it so well.

It’s so quick that it’s almost hard to digest how literal and blatant Laios summoning his monster to crush all the people who’ve hurt him is. His literal go-to coping mechanism for comfort in his literal monster-induced emotionally intense nightmare, saving him by taking away the upsetting element (the humans)

Jean Vicquemare's full name is Jean-Heron Vicquemare. It's literally only mentioned in one line of dialogue below. Esprit de Corps - With an agitated gait Satellite-Officer Jean-Heron Vicquemare paces the jetty, 22 kilometres East -- in Martinaise: "What could he *possibly* be doing there for so long," he says.

Jean was (is) an equestrian cop, as in, horse-mounted. However, I found no confirmation that he particularly liked horses as a hobby-thing. I think "we" in this line meant for "the pair of us", as police partners. Because there are lines in the game referring to other MCs in Precinct 41. But I have no space in this post to quote them. Jean Vicquemare - "For the record, you pressured us into getting it. 'It'll be cool Jean, we'll have wheels, rapid response...' I was fine being an equestrian cop. I hope you're fine driving a *bicycle*."

The actual name of Kim's dead partner, who was nicknamed "Eyes", was probably Dom or something that starts with Dom. At least this is name put on two cases in Kim's paperwork, which you can peek into if you come to Kim's room after the Tribunal without Kim. I assume that meant to happen if Kim was shot, but I theoretize that you could do that by going to sleep and then just going into the room, since Kim magically disappears after you dismiss him for the night and won't be in his room unless you knock on the outside door. Half-Finished Paperwork - This year, you can see references to: THE CHILD, DOM'S UNFINISHED; DOM'S UNFINISHED 2, MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS, and THE MAN WITH THE HOLE IN HIS HEAD. UPD: "Dom" doesn't seem to be initials, because see Cuno (but then again, what does Cuno know about this? Kim Kitsuragi - The lieutenant says nothing. You see the machine's glowing frame reflected back from his diamond-shaped glasses. You're free to proceed. Truly a mystery. Trant was formerly addicted to pyrholidon. I think it's implied that his practice of stick fighting, which he does for 4 hours daily for 20 years straight, is a replacement for said addiction. "I've been practising it for nearly 20 years now, so you could say that my doses have grown a little… peculiar." Electrochemistry - Wait. What does this man know about pyrholidon addiction? Judit has been in Harry's task force for only 2 months, imagine that. It probably explains why she's so nice to him. Judit Minot - "Lieutenant," she says with a heavy sigh. Disco Elysium is a huge game, with lots of lore not just about its world, but about its characters... And this lore is split under a bazillion of different conversations which are hard to navigate and easy to miss.

As a result, there are a lot of small facts that many people just unaware of and make up their own stuff instead. The inconsistency irks me a little (actually, it irks me a lot). Love, peace <3

I've been trying to make a point lately to sit down and read a bunch of the more popular books on atheism and skepticism because that has always been really discouraged by my religious community and I want to know what they actually have to say. And as someone who is extensively educated on religion and culture and the humanities, let me tell you, the amount of whiplash I've been getting from reading a bunch of scientists talk about religion—has been severe.

One minute, they'll be making a really beautiful, insightful, true and eye-opening point about the nature of reality and superstition and the scientific process and naturalism—and the next, they will turn around and unselfconsciously say the most staggeringly ignorant thing about religion and culture, like—there's no reason at all why Muslims in America post 9-11 might have been upset about a high-profile Christian preacher publicly burning a Quran, except that they're spoiled children throwing a fit because other people won't treat their holy objects with the same reverence that they do (real example from The Happy Atheist). Or they'll make a claim that's less about pointing out the harm that religion can cause and more about getting mad that everybody in the world doesn't share the same priorities that they do, and completely fail to notice the blatant hypocrisy of that.

Gritting my teeth like, you're allowed to criticize religion and to share your perspective on why your values are worthwhile, but also you're an ass and you're criticizing religion wrong

WHY do I not hear the same argument about literally ANY other antagonist???

What kinda character is Cash? Mammon? Crimson? Glitz and Glam? Andrealphus? Paimon? The cherubs, agent 1 and 2..Literally anyone...

The only antagonist that suggest running deeper than being "there to make the character look better" is Striker... He's like.. The ONE person who's talked about having a background for why he does things. The rest are just bad people or just simply on the opposite side. Like an antagonist is supposed to be. Stolas is a protagonist, Stella an antagonist. She IS there to be an obstacle to him.. As is Andre. Why does that bother so many?? That's what an antagonist is there for.

I don't even agree that Stella makes Stolas look better... His mistakes are still his own, no one in the show itself blames Stella for the way Stolas acts. She's part of how he ended up this way tho.. But like.. So is Andre and Paimon. HE doesn't even blame her for his own mistakes even if he finally stands up to her.

Cash is a reason Blitz ended up the way he did too. He's a reason as to why some of Blitz' actions are shitty. He planted the seed in Blitz that made him think he wasn't worth shit and that what happened was his fault. Why doesn't Cash only exist to make Blitz "look better" in your eyes? It's hypocritical af.

Not every character exist to have some deep dark story and every character has a purpose.. That's just how storytelling goes.. Nothing wrong with that....
