No offence but that other anon is right.
I had no idea about your personal life/romantic life for the longest time and you give off seriously straight energy here. Maybe it because you never post about anything relating to queer people except maybe reblogging a big viral post a couple times a year? Maybe it's because you seem to have a long term boyfriend that you don't care or think about women anymore, or issues related to queer people since you effectively do not live as one. I don't know. But it's surprising because you post so much about your intimate feelings and life and reblog all sorts of quotes and posts of all kinds... and anything about being into women is never mentioned. Nor do you ever seem to reblog posts explicitly about queer people, or even quotes by famous ones when you reblog such things. Just an idea why maybe people think you're straight. Your blog is incredibly heteronormative, and so is the picture you have painted of your offline life. Nothing here at all even hints at your bisexuality.
And that's fine if people want to keep it a secret for safety or something. But considering how much you share about everything else, I would assume your feelings and thoughts about being queer in this world would come up more frequently. So...
I don't think it's right to assume that just because someone doesn't suspect you (a stranger online) might secretly be bisexual, they're biphobic. You never talk about it. The vast majority of the human population is straight, so for better or worse that is the default assumption unless you come out and say/behave otherwise.
There is nothing wrong with being straight. It's not an insult. Nobody can control their sexuality and if you're straight, it's okay. I know tumblr likes to be edgy and talk shit about "hets" but most of the world is, and you don't need to be ashamed of feel pressured to ID as bisexual just to be cool on tumblr.
Since we're on the topic ...finally! Maybe a get to know you? The real you? Then people can't pretend anymore.
Who was your first crush? Who are your current ones? How old were you when you realized you were romantically and sexually attracted to women? How many girlfriends have you had? Were any serious? Has a girl ever broken your heart? Which do you prefer boys or girls, if either? Do you find they kiss differently? This is juicy info inquiring fellow bisexual minds want to know! Is your queerness why you left the USA? How do you feel living as an immigrant as a queer woman? Does it make it more difficult? Does your boyfriend know or are you in the closet irl? If you are in the closet, why? Society? Family?
Sorry it seems like a lot but you dropped a bombshell and this feels like a whole new you, and i think we all want to meet her! <3
hey so I wasn’t even gonna reply but i’ll just let you know this is insane. have a nice day

You know, now that I think about it - whatever the members of the firefamily received from one another in terms of support after Bobby's death, Buck kind of got the opposite.
Eddie gets a job offer not only away from the 118, but in a different state and the 118 throw him a party. Buck talks about a career decision and is met with nothing but silence.
Hen makes an unexpected decision concerning her role in the 118 and gets the reassurance that she has to do what's right for her. Buck is told he's making a mistake and that it'd be stupid for him to take a job at a different firehouse.
Athena tries to do her lone wolf thing, retreats a little and puts up a strong façade, but her friends don't buy it and still seek her out to check on her and let her know she doesn't need to do this alone and whatever feelings she has about Bobby's death, they're valid. Buck puts on a strong mask and holds himself together by a thread, his friends notice that something seems off immediately and they start avoiding him like the plague because they can't be bothered to deal with him I guess.
Chimney feels guilty, like he should've done more, should've noticed something was wrong, should've saved Bobby. But he does not only get Buck talking him off a ledge and Maddie urging him to not shut her out and share his pain with her, he even gets forgiveness from Athena in the end because she knows none of this is Chim's fault and she just needed a second to get there. Buck is told to make Bobby's death less about himself, like he should share even less of his own grief and think about the others more, is told that maybe Bobby's death was preventable and he just didn't try hard enough to save him and Eddie doesn't even apologise for saying any of that.
The only people who actually tried to comfort Buck are Maddie who at least asked how he was doing even if Buck gave her only a short and superficial answer and Tia Pepa who was a godsend tbh. Both of them tried to help, but Maddie didn't dig deeper (she had a lot on her plate herself, I don't blame her) and Pepa didn't even know Bobby. It was nice of her to comfort Buck, but they can't grief together the way other members of the firefam did.
Like. All of the family members that were close to Bobby got so, so, so much support from each other, but nobody even talked to Buck and that hasn't changed by the end of the finale and they didn't even give Buck and Tommy another scene to indicate that Buck isn't entirely alone. How am I supposed to see this as normal? It's not! They distanced themselves from Buck and when Buck eventually gave up on reaching out to the others and looked for distance himself they saw it as Buck abandoning the family. God I hope the show does something about this in season 9, ideally they even adress it. It could be Buck's 9a storyline, how everyone is moving on but he feels stuck because he never grieved properly or something.

How do you think the main digital circus characters would react to a teen being transported there who's also a troublemaker similar to Jax?
I think it would also be funny if they looked up to Jax for that reason and just followed him around talking to him like a regular kid excited- Can you also write how they would react to that too?
A teen Reader would probably have the most meltdowns out of everybody.
If you like my work, please consider commissioning me or leaving a tip on Ko-fi (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
Caine, Zooble, Jax & teenage Reader
Tumblr media
Caine
★ He sees you as an imprisonable youngster who should be treated gently. Consequences for your bad behavior are nonexistent. As long as you promise not to do it again. Leaving you with too much energy and not enough supervision.
★ It’s an open secret that you're his favorite. Mess up, and he laughs it off. “They’re learning! It's all just trial and error!” But Caine is only this lenient with you because he sees you as an innocent child. Nobody else could get away with the things you do on a daily basis.
★ Caine is convinced that Jax is a bad influence. Making you misbehave. He always blames him for things you do, to the delight of Zooble. Punishing him for "manipulating you" and "corrupting the youth."
Zooble
★ Zooble likes you. They really do. But at the same time, you piss them off. Pushing every button they have on purpose. Testing their patience until Zooble finally snaps. "Could you shut up for five seconds?!" Then feeling bad about it afterwards.
★ After lifter living in the Circus for a while, Zooble forgot you were a teenager. You act so adult sometimes. But you're not an adult. Just a scared kid. It hits them when, after a long day, you lash out at everyone and yell "Just leave me alone!" while running to your room. Slamming the door behind you.
★ In the suggestion box adventure, Zooble specified that you shouldn't be allowed in the bar. Caine ignored this. Letting you join the others with one condition. That you don't drink. And you did just that. But snatched a bottle of champagne while Zooble wasn't looking...
Jax
★ You think he's fun to be around. Laughing at his bad jokes and following along with the terrible decisions he's made. Wherever he is, you're sure to be close by. Effectively becoming his problem. But he tells everyone you're your own problem.
★ Jax refers to you as "the kid" and wont use your actual name. But on the rare occasion he does, something is usually wrong. Like you messed up or got hurt. Pulling out the full name like an angry parent. "What the hell were you thinking Y/n?!?"
★ When you get irrationally mad at him for whatever small reason, as teens are prone to do, he acts genuinely hurt. Not in a "How dare you!" kind of way. More of a "The hell did I do?" way. Later, he might throw a snack at you while saying "Have you calmed down?"

Oh good, I'm not the only person saying that.
Neurodivergences change the way you see and interact with the world, but they are in no way an indicator of someone's personal values. Neurodivergent people are not "unintelligible, savant aliens on another plane of consciousness that no one can hope to comprehend but another 'genius' like them" nor "sub-lifeforms automatically devoid of emotions and understanding as we know them".
Funnily enough in both cases, it's just a lack of understanding : if we meet in the middle, there's a way.
People just have to make the effort - build the bridge, and finally get the hell over it.
Might be a hot take here (depending on the definition of neurodivergence and mental health condition - please correct me if I'm wrong) but neurodivergences, as long as they aren't mental illnesses/mental health conditions (like anxiety, depression, C/PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, OCD, etc...), are also neutral in themselves, to boot.
ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, Zebraness ("giftedness"), Synaesthesia, Hyperlexia (self-taught precocious reading and fascination with words, logos, maps, etc), the DYS list (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, etc), Down Syndrome, and a fuckton of others (because yes, the world doesn't revolve under just Au/DHD, and some can be comorbid) are birth neurodivergences that can be handicaps and disorders, but aren't mental illnesses. They're just there.
Nobody is "sick" with Autism, Down Syndrom, ADHD, a DYS-order or what have you. Sure, sometimes they make life hell, but othertimes they make life good : favorite interests, different way of thinking, capacity of feeling and interacting, seeing stuff people without the neurodivergence might not see, etc.
A mental health condition isn't from birth, but still makes someone neurodivergent. Because the definition of "neurodivergence" is "differing in mental or neurological function from what is considered typical or normal" or in Layman's terms : if brain works differently than standard template, then it's neurodivergence.
Your brain doesn't produce enough dopamine (like in ADHD) ? You're neurodivergent. Your senses are cross-wired and many-in-one (like in Synaesthesia) ? You're neurodivergent. Your brain produces too much cortisol (like with Anxiety disorder) and/or not enough serotonin (like in Depression) ? You're neurodivergent. Your hormones are imbalanced and cause frantic moodswings (like in Bipolarity Disorder) ? You're neurodivergent. Your brain has more myelin and processes info quicker in more directions as a result (like with Zebraness/"giftedness") ? You're neurodivergent. Your brain doesn't imagine numbers (Dyscalculia), can't figure out letters (Dyslexia), is bad at developmental coordination and fine motor control (Dyspraxia) ? You're neurodivergent. Your brain has a completely screwed stress-adjustor making you think you're in danger for trivial things and putting you on constant high-alert mode (like in C/PTSD) ? You're neurodivergent. Your brain compells you to eat inedible stuff (like with Pica) or pursue repetitive rituals of whatever sort to release serotonin (like in OCD) ? You're neurodivergent. Something in your body (like chromosomes) affect how your brain is build, generating a learning disability (like with Down Syndrome) ? You're neurodivergent.
Your brain is built or became different, whether from birth or from events, and it affects how it works, your way of life, how you interact with the world, and how you understand things ? You. Are. Goddamn. NEURODIVERGENT.
And none of this is synonymous with "hurts people", or "inferior/superior to" by the way. Neurodivergence doesn't equal morality. It just means "not neurotypical". The same as "neurotypical" doesn't mean "hurts people" or "inferior/superior to" either.
We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and they have nothing to do with our moral values.
People need to understand this about autism:
Its morally neutral.
It's not a good or bad thing. It just exists. You have it, it's whatever. You might like some of it, you might hate some of it, you might like all of it or none of it. But it doesn't make you a good or bad person.
Understanding this helps avoid aspie supremacy as well as demonization of autism, I think. If I'm wrong, please politely correct me.

The Stranger Things writers want byler shippers to feel like Joyce Byers.
(i'm aware this is a long read, but it's worth it i promise! 💔)
- "Joyce, 99 out of 100 times a kid goes missing, the kid is with a parent or relative."
"Well, what about the other time? You said, '99 out of 100', what about the other time, the one? The one!" -
Tumblr media
~
since the season 5 release date teaser came out, lot of stranger things fans have made their way back to the fandom!.. delightful! because of that, arguments over certain stranger things topics have gotten more vocal (if that's even possible); like, for example, the wars between byler and mileven and which will be endgame!
mileven shippers, or maybe even just anti-byler shippers, have been mentioning (as they always do) that "byler wont happen", "it makes no sense", and "byler shippers are delusional". as well as that comes a lot of complaints from byler fans; saying mileven shippers have it all wrong, they under analyze, and dont understand the small details Stranger Things writers and directors bring to the table.
with all this being said, as a byler shipper myself, its quite frustrating when some people just dont see what you see and will never believe what you believe, especially on a topic that is pretty important to you.. That sounds a bit familiar, right? 😭 (i'm getting to the point, I swear. stay with me now.)
- "Maybe I am a mess, maybe I’m crazy, maybe I’m out of my mind! But, God help me, I will keep these lights up until the day I die if I think there’s a chance that Will’s still out there!" -
Tumblr media
~
this is ALL that Joyce Byers had gone through when trying to find Will in season one. Will communicated to her through the lights, she saw him through the wall, she heard his phone calls.. but because the chances that such supernatural and unrealistic things were happening are very low, nobody believed her.
recently, i saw a comment on tiktok stating something along the lines of, "i have no idea why it feels like everyone is incapable of listening in this fandom. the general audience has a surface level of knowledge on everything that simple analyses can make you feel crazy," and it made me realize something.
maybe, just maybe, that's the entire point. i know that's pretty obvious, but on the topic of byler, it's easy to feel crazy! a lot of people say that the byler evidence we have seen means nothing, and it's all just delusional. a HUGE number of people believe byler won't become endgame and are concerningly very against it, actually. it's like Joyce with the lights. she knew Will was alive, and people argued she was going crazy.
but was she really crazy? nope. she wasn't. after everything, after no one had believed her at first, she was RIGHT. i mean, (this is important) the proof that Will was alive was very obvious to her, she saw it herself! some just didn't agree with her because THEY didn't see it.
Tumblr media
~
this sounds oddly familiar to what happens between mileven and byler shippers. we have so much evidence, so much proof, that it almost just feels obvious how the final season is gonna go for Mike and Will, yet we still get called delusional and crazy for it all.
but, this is SUPPOSED to happen. it's no accident. the writers have set this up in such a way that some people will just never accept the fact that Will and Mike could be a potential couple in season 5, the idea almost feels impossible to them: they are basically the people who didnt believe Joyce. they've built it in a way that mirrors Joyce's experience. despite everything, Will was still found alive after he was seen 'dead' and even had his own funeral! sometimes, the impossible IS possible.
in conclusion, byler may feel unrealistic, what are the chances that these male main characters of this show will fall in love? the shows so popular, that just can't happen! well, you know what, people also believed Will wasn't alive, but Joyce did. and she was right.
byler shippers, you may feel crazy. you may feel out of your mind. but maybe we are right, and people will just never believe it until it truly happens.. there will always be the 1 in the 99 out of 100.

౨ৎ — barracks bunny — ౨ৎ
You got around, to put it lightly, happily joining any soldier who was lonely or stressed. And finally, the word got out to your Captain. He finally pulls you aside one evening in his office, a stern look on his face.
“If yu’ wanted company, yu’ should’ve jus’ told me.” He sounded mildly irritated as he stared you down, waiting for your response as you approached him, his back resting against his desk.
“What— I don’t understand what ‘’you mean.” You shrugged it off, interlinking your arms with each other, trying to play the innocent card. It’s the best route out, you were sacrificing your military role for this.
“Don’ play dumb with me, bunny.” He spoke out, his patience running thin, anger was apparent in his words. The tonal voice was getting stronger
You froze instantly at the mention of, bunny. It was obvious he knew— but you just thought it was some bullshit of a prank that he was trying to make you slip up your words on. The evidence was painted over your face as it held a guilty expression.
“What?—“ you repeated, trying to make sure you heard it right. You knew you heard it right.
“Yu’ erd’ me. Don’ make me repeat things.” He spoke out, “Y’know I hate repeatin’ things, pet.” Like he thought the pet names were better.
“I— what do you mean if I wanted company, I should’ve came to you?” You looked at him with pure innocence, over frustrating his words, “it doesn’t make sense—“
“Exactly wha’ I said, doll.” Price’s words cut yours short, his eyes glued to yours, watching you like a hawk ready to pry on their victim.
You became weary, should you even be having this talk with your captain— this would make it awkward. Oh god, how do you avoid confrontation from your stern captain. would Price really let you out of this?
“I think you’re mistaken— you should be firing me for all sakes, even angry, furious.” You looked away as you spoke, your emotions were an overload.
He grabbed your chin, his rough ol’ hands colliding and interacting with your soft skin, pointing it up to lock eyes with him again. His touch was tender.
“i said wha’ i said, doll. Don’ think so low of me.”
You both stared at each other, unable to turn eyes from one another. price began leaning in, placing soft tender kisses amongst your face, then your lips both connecting. You didn’t pull away. His hand was holding your hand into him, you arms interlocking around his neck to hold yourself up from becoming a drowning mess beneath him.
You couldn’t lie and say you didn’t like him— nor fantasised about him. But you thought you never could, it was wrong morally. Fantasising about your captain— messed up. Well that was the way you worked, avoiding your feelings till.. this happened. After that, all hell broke loose.
Price smothered your face with kisses, you were in his office, door was locked so it’s not like anybody would come in. His room was sound-proof too, even better. Windows had privacy blinds for obvious reasons, he was a man of privacy after all. Nobody in the base knew anything about him barn him being the captain, strict, harsh and a very sophisticated man.
“Mm.. yu’ taste better than I imagined.” He mouthed out in between kisses, his mouth trailing from your face to your neck, to your body, in a respectful manner of course.
“Better than you imagine, huh?” You repeated, your arms still dangling over his shoulders as you sat on his desk, him stood in between your legs doing his own thing.
“Mmh, yeh’ wha’ I said.” Price said daringly, he was a straight-forward person after all.
“Fuck.” You mumbled out, almost like a quiet moan. This only fuelled his lust for you. he began leaving ‘marks’ all over your neckline, a place where no matter what you did, you couldn’t cover them up.
Ofcourse he knew this was wrong, you both did. Everybody has to make sacrifices and he made one tonight.
“Gna’ mark yu’ nd’ make yu’ mine.” Price said breathlessly.
“P— price..” You whimpered out mistakenly whilst trying to push his head off, he was biting down too harsh.
He finally pushed back, looking at your with them confused, puppy eyes. Wondering why you pulled him back. Oh god, he looked like a lost puppy.
“Too harsh, be more gentle.” You said, leaving no room for arguments or ifs, buts. He nodded, going in more gentler.
The rest of the night was a memory, he had you in many positions let’s just say, doggy style, reverse cowgirl, missionary, standing and even the butterfly. You couldn’t lie in saying you didn’t like it— not even taking price for the vanilla sex man. You were going to learn him all kinds, let’s just say.
The whole night was gentle, soft and careful. He took care in making sure you were comfortable and all his. His touch was delicate and unlike him. You just took it as he wanted to be different from the others, as a barracks bunny was basically just there for a stress reliever, getting manhandled the whole night almost.
he was determined on making him worth your while. Even if this meant making you orgasm a million times beneath him, cumming for the sake of it.
Bye I actually can’t with this, it just flew out off my brain if I’m honest.
HOPE YOU ENJOY ☺️

the Joe and Rachel (and Sarah at the end) scene that just concluded has been bothering me. like, yeah, "nobody ever changes at all ever" is a largely indefensible position, but there are pretty justifiable reasons for women to not be trusting of a guy who was, not even a year ago, literally ranking women on campus numerically by Fuckability and sharing that list with other men.
the fact that the only people in this comic who have been expressing such distrust in Narratively Significant Ways are dorothy (who is like, explicitly more focused on being jealous of his relationship with joyce right now) and rachel (who is functioning here as a Comedy Punchline Strawman, who is Unreasonable and Mean and wont Get Over It Already) just isnt great.
i think it would be better if this depiction of a man coming to understand that his behavior towards women was Horrible in the past grappled more with the reality that he cant just expect everyone who is Reasonable and Good to trust him and his move towards self betterment immediately and implicitly. The fact is that he, and any other man in such a situation, needs to be understanding and accepting of that distrust if he wants to legitimately be like, a feminist, or at least Not An Active Misogynist. he is the one in a position of privilege, and the one who needs to be Earning that trust, after all.
it is not an uncommon phenomenon for a man to claim and perhaps even believe that he is Being Better About Women after a misogynist past, just to get pissy and angry that women are being Cold and Bitter and not Appropriately Rewarding Him with trust and acceptance and shed whatever progress he's made, if any.
well now i'm just in the unenviable position of noting that, yes, you're correct, Joe should understand that his previous actions have consequences, and nobody he wronged should have to suffer through his existence while he continues it, regardless of any changes or not to his behavior, but then me saying, uh, actually, sure, Joe has kind of expressed exactly that, and subsequently not gotten pissy and angry, as you say, about any pushback, while also i am very contrite about this thing you rightfully want to see a different amount of in stories, even though i feel like i specifically wrote exactly those things (a: joe shrinks away to provide relief, b: people are still upset with him, c: joe doesn't lash out and relapse), which is a very difficult needle to thread
Tumblr media
tl;dr: i agree *gestures at comic*

If you are new to Warhammer - how to get into the lore?
If you just got into Warhammer, it's very possible it wasn't like us old people (*waves walking stick menacingly*) via the table top game or in the wild, but you got exposed to the virus via the video games or some YT video.
And now you are standing in front of a mountain of lore and you have no idea, how to start.
But fret not - it's easier than you think.
Because I'm telling you the secret: Nobody knows all the lore. We all are specialists for the faction and/or guys we fell in love with. We read everything we find about this small cross section of Warhammer and neglect the rest. Because if we want to know about something, we ask the specialist for that.
For example: I'm a specialist for Emperor's Children, Word Bearers and Salamanders. But I have zero idea about Iron Warriors. So I ask @ladymirdan. Or if I need info about Imperial Fists it's @sonofdorn-vii or @vlka-fenryka. Night Lords - @panda-hammer. And if I don't know who to turn to, I just ask the hivemind here on Tumblr who's the person-of-knowledge.
You'll need a little bit of base-knowledge to find your Blorbo-faction, though. So it's a good idea to start with "Horus Rising". Read that one book. Decide, if Warhammer is for you. It's very low on things you need to know before reading and it's about the things that set everything in motion. You don't need to read the whole Heresy-series! Just read what you are interested in and find the stuff you love. It's a journey.
But please, please, please - for the love of Slaanesh, don't start with TTS ("If the Emperor had a text to speech device" - a comedic YT-series), Reddit or lore-videos. While TTS is fun, it's outdated or in some cases even wrong (because it ended before that part of lore was clarified) and it's meant for an audience who already knows their shit and can appreciate and sort the details that are exaggerated for comedic value.
Trying to learn about Warhammer lore by watching TTS is like trying to understand how police works by watching Brooklyn 99!
And both Reddit and YT (not to mention the cesspool of hate that's current Twitter) tend to be very biased and to push an agenda.
Please try to get your own view on things. Read books about your favourites. Discuss with other fans what you've taken from those books. Get new reading recommendations from other fans or find new books in the "sources"-paragraph of the Lexicanum.
Don't be intimidated! Just read a bit, maybe visit a Warhammer Store and talk with the people there, and you'll find your favourites in no time. Then you'll read a bit more and then you most likely won't stop reading. 😊
I don't know if any newbie will read this post, because my blog ist mostly hidden by Tumblr for Tumblr-reasons. But if it reaches one person, it was worth writing it!
Edit:
@owenthetokencishet threw the Dawn of Fire as a good starting point for the most recent lore into the discussion. It may not be as perfect a fit for the more queer Tumblr-Warhammer-community as the Heresy books, but it's worth a mention. Especially if people are coming from the video games and may need a bit of adjusting to the Heresy aesthetics. As a Chaos enjoyer I'm a bit torn here, with GW's shift towards a more good guys/bad guys divide, but let's see what the future brings!

There's So Much self-loathing in ASR, all the lines still calling itself a murderbot before it assumed that name for itself, like "oh humans don't want to see me with parts falling off because that would be awkward and nobody would want to talk to a big scary murderbot." Or reducing all sec units down to murderbots, it knows it's been created to protect humans and also that it malfunctioned and killed a bunch of them (on top of the ones other clients ordered it to kill). It's title and reason for being mean it's supposed to protect its humans and if it can't do that, what even is the point of it? That organic brain tissue knows something has gone wrong and it's killed people before they shut it down and repaired the module, but it can't be sure why or how or even if the chronology is right and it hacked its module after that so it couldn't be forced to kill again. (Like, how strong does that protective need run, that the motivation for freeing itself from the slave chip that can deliver electroshock torture or execute it was really so this thing, made with shitty tech, couldn't force it to kill humans?)
And it still hates itself (wanting to kill the DeltFall units because they went rogue and killed their own clients is hella projection) and is still scared of what it might be made to do to humans or even ART. Even up to System Collapse, it's hesitant to free the other units there because there's a chance they could go rogue and start killing the humans it needs to protect. But that's the thing, they don't either. Every time it brings up units killing their clients when they go on rogue rampages, it's always in shows on the entertainment feed, it's always in fiction, and we've never been given another account of a sec unit getting free, much less going on a homicidal rampage.
It's always all been company propaganda.
They want humans to hate and fear these beings, want them to see them as things. Want them to agree that yes, these governor modules are the only things stopping them from killing everyone!!! To think these intelligent beings built as walking weapons are too dangerous and unstable to ever be allowed autonomy because they can't be trusted with free will! But we've seen time and again, the comfort unit freed on RaviHyral stops in shock, and then gets to run off, free to defend itself. Three frees itself and asks about its friends, its crew, is confused and scared but still willing to walk back into danger to save this other rogue unit responsible for its new free will. The other BE unit with enough wherewithal to not show that it's free, and go back because it's not ready to leave, because its fellows are still trapped by their modules. (Also there's more to say how the BE units seem to have more solidarity from working as regulars for these crews and presumably having postings on the same ships with the same units so they form friendships Murderbot never could as a rental unit, sent back in a box each time).
Murderbot calls all sec units that name, before separating itself from the rest of the faceless units and assuming that guilt solely for itself, still with that internalized fear and shame because that's all it's ever seen itself portrayed as.
OK but now I'm thinking about it
And I really need to reread the books
But I'm thinking a lot about how Ganaka Pit plays directly into Murderbot disabling its governor module.
I don't think we think about it a lot - like, Murderbot was literally enslaved, obviously once it had the chance it freed itself, why wouldn't it?
But as we see throughout the books, Murderbot itself thinks very poorly of other rogue bots. It's not going on a quest to free other SecUnits, it doesn't even consider the idea, and part of that is for its own safety (if word gets out, it's dead and it knows it) but also, it's clear through its own narrative that it doesn't trust other bots.
Not even - or especially not - rogues.
It's incredibly disparaging towards other SecUnits and the idea of rogue SecUnits - it absolutely believes itself and its fellows to be dangerous and a threat to those around them, even believing that its rogue status may have led to the massacre, and it only started freeing constructs when it felt like it has to - and only after it's uncovered the truth of Ganaka Pit. Heck, even Three took its time deciding on whether to accept the override or not, so this isn't just a Murderbot thing!
So why - if it considers rogue SecUnits to be dangerous to their clients and others - does it choose to go rogue themselves?
We know that it happened shortly after Ganaka Pit - because the governor module must have been checked during the refurbishment, that's the first thing an investigation would have looked for, rogue bots are dangerous after all! So it came out of the refurb with no real memory, just vague impressions of bloody horror, and quickly resolved to disable its governor module.
It went from "rogue SecUnits are a dangerous threat to their clients and can't be trusted" to "I care about my clients... but I'm gonna do that anyway".
I think that it did remember one more thing from Ganaka Pit - not a conscious memory, not something they even realized was a memory. But it also came out of that refurbishment with the bone-deep knowledge, stored deep in its biological tissue, that there was an active threat to its clients - its own governor module.
And so it neutralized the threat.
And that led to a whole other set of problems it wasn't ready to address. So it stayed, doing what it did best - what it wanted to do: protect its clients.
The whole reason it had freed itself in the first place.

Kpop Demon Hunters: when a great movie fails at the last moment
SPOILER ALERT under the cut
Let me start with this, artistically speaking this movie was incredible, and up until the ending I thought it was doing something really cool.
While it was going on I was imagining how touching it must have been for people going through challenging times right now, literally fighting their demons. The story was offering an awakening through music and art, and that was amazing.
Until…
Until Jinu died. As did his friends.
And the girls kept slaughtering demons until the very end.
Of course demons that we were not given a reason to care about, even though us viewers and the Huntrix at this point all know that… demons are people. Sometimes, even innocent people, who just fell prey to their insecurities.
The whole point was that… we are our own demons. And from the start of the movie, the message that was being built was that the only way to truly fight them is self acceptance and understanding.
Wasn’t the whole deal with the new Honmoon barrier to start a new era? One where the Hunters would have done things differently?
Even Zoey and Mira themselves, heroes, almost got possessed by Gwi-Ma. This proves them no better than the demons they killed. And kept killing.
The only difference between them is that in their case nobody saved them.
However, the Huntrix failed at understanding that they’re the same as all the demons, and failed at changing things for real.
Not only that, but the final resolution that allows for the end of our Heroes’ journey is partially incomplete.
It handled perfectly Rumi’s arc, gave her the courage to face who she really is and open up to the world. To those living a similar situation as her, she can be a great role model now.
There are many in the world who never did anything wrong and suffer from discrimination for no reason. Who grow demons inside their heads that they don’t deserve. And all of them need a Rumi to give them hope.
But…. what about the people who made mistakes? What about people who are more like Jinu? Those who broke down in a situation of difficulty? Who couldn’t be an unbreakable pop star?
What do they get?
Let me be clear. Of course Rumi and Jinu were not on the same level. Jinu was a coward and caused his family’s likely death because of his own greediness.
However, I don’t think death was a proper conclusion for his arc.
When a real person makes a horrible mistake, they don’t get a great sacrifice to redeem themselves. Most of the time, they can just go on and keep going with that weight in their chest, and the only thing they can do when the mistake is unresolvable is trying to be a better person next time.
This story was trying to tell us something about accepting yourself and opening up to others.
But such a message can’t exclude finding a resolution through guilt, even if deserved.
Exactly because our own nature is unchangeable and we must accept ourselves as we are, we must accept that we’re imperfect creatures. We’re not always strong, we can’t always live up to our ideals.
Moments of failure, even with hurtful consequences, are inevitable.
For everyone.
Pretending this isn’t a part of accepting yourself is not an option, and killing off Jinu despite the fact he showed he was ready to take responsibility for his mistake and grow is doing exactly that.
It’s as if a story about facing the fear of death ended with the finding of eternal life.
That’s not something that has ever been written because that is not a viable solution to people who fear death. The only thing as humans that we can do is accept it.
If a story finished with eternal life and considered it a happy ending, the reader would be left with nothing.
This is why the Huntrix couldn’t just kill Gwi-Ma, because humans will always have to fight with their inner demons.
But I feel like the “correct” ending would have been for the Honmoon to be gone, not restored. And for the boys and the girls to cooperate into helping other demons heal.
Healing by either accepting things about themselves that are unchangeable, or something they did that can be never forgiven, or even both, and grow up from it to be better.
I guess since the Honmoon didn’t turn gold that at least the demons aren’t completely locked out, so maybe this isn’t the end, but as for now…
The way it ended only offers forgiveness and growth from the inner voices that are “easier” to fight. Those that exist only in your head. But what about when the consequences of our actions are what haunts us, uh?
What do we do then? We die?
What a let down.

badboy!byakuya headcanons
couldn’t stop thinking about badboy!byakuya (xf!reader)
cw: fluff, angst if you squint
hope you enjoy! ♡
badboy!byakuya who has two sides to his personality: sometimes cold and closed off, and unrecognisably hotheaded the next moment
badboy!byakuya who’s actually a rich heir going through his ‘rebellious phase’
badboy!byakuya who first noticed you at a rave, looking awkward and incredibly out of place
badboy!byakuya who used to feel like nobody understood him, at least until he met you
badboy!byakuya who’d keep shutting you out, constantly throwing ‘tests’ at you, because he couldn’t believe you’d want to be with someone like him
badboy!byakuya who cried when you made the first move, leaving you wondering whether you did something wrong
badboy!byakuya who, when he warms up to you (after around 4-5 months) suddenly transforms into the sweetest, most protective man alive, making you wonder whether he suffered from split personality disorder because of how fast his demeanour can change
badboy!byakuya who loves to spoil you, and often buys the most ridiculous things
badboy!byakuya who once bought an entire clothing line at a baby store ‘for when the time comes’
badboy!byakuya whose love languages are giving gifts and doing acts of service
badboy!byakuya who was just a lonely, lost boy before he met you
badboy!byakuya who calls you names like : sakura, bloom, and all the other clichés you can imagine
badboy!byakuya who, beneath his bad boy façade, is actually a rather chivalrous man
badboy!byakuya who always carries your things for you
badboy!byakuya who never lets you open any doors by yourself
badboy!byakuya who loves you so much and is afraid you’ll leave him one day
badboy!byakuya who doesn’t think he deserves you
badboy!byakuya who isn’t very vocal about his feelings for you, but his actions will always speak for themselves
just badboy!byakuya ♡

Something came to me the other day while noodling around on a discord server, which is that the throuple is tied thematically to Preservation society, in that—as a society that values cooperation and interdependence—the ideal is that nobody has to be anyone's Only Support or Only One Who Can Help With That and they certainly don't have to be anyone's Only Savior.
(Is this another way in which Gurathin is Doing It Wrong why, yes. Yes, in fact he is. You have to understand that when I say that at this point I find Gurathin a deeply compelling character and perhaps even one of my faves, it is partly in sheer fascination at everything this Disaster Man is doing wrong and all the ways he needs to be slapped with a fish. Anyway.)
See, I happen to be monogamous, but I am also aware that modern monogamous relationships can deeply fuck people over, and part of that is because many people are not encouraged (men especially are in many ways outright discouraged) to seek and build support structures beyond that, and as a consequence? As a consequence we lean too hard and break each other. Our cultural roles tell us that women need to be endlessly capable of support and emotional management, that men need to be endlessly capable of competently repairing the situation, because you only ever get one person for that task. (Unless you break up and designate a whole new One Person.) Does it work? No the fuck it does not.
Preservation is not supposed to work like that.
And the throuple absolutely cannot work like that. Arada is not capable of endless emotional support because she's frankly kind of oblivious to where said support is even needed. Ratthi is not capable of endlessly competently repairing the situation because, um… *gestures frantically at Ratthi and hopes this is self-explanatory* For that matter Pin-Lee is not endlessly competent, nor an endless font of emotional wisdom, nor anything in between, and if you switch the roles around they don't work either. However. However, they don't have to be. It is not necessary or even desirable for any one person to be another's everything. The load gets distributed. Is it going to work in the long run, I have no idea—although the throuple scene last episode did seem like they were actually going to communicate a bit, which is a step. But I'm actually kind of rooting for them, because I like the idea of the three of them imperfectly propping each other up and it coming out to enough.
Which brings another thought, which is: given the degree to which the Corporation Rim have, not just a hyper-capitalist economy, but a hyper-capitalist ethic—how different will Corporate relationships be when we see them?
I think we got a hint with LeeBeeBee. "You buy it, you own it." I think relationships are either transactional—which is actually the better option—or possessive, and I don't mean that just in terms of jealousy, I mean in terms of someone "owns" or at least is set up as inherently superior to another. And not just in a kinky way.
(Yeah, Gurathin, you wet cat fuckup man, you're screwing that up too: deciding that you love someone because you see them as your superior and your leader is also not a Preservation value, have you in fact used your fucking therapy modules for anything besides staying off the sauce? What in fact is a therapy module? Does it help? If it does help, how bad off were you before? Many questions.)
So basically, I do believe that there is a great deal of thematic worldbuilding being shown by following the throuple—not just basic surface worldbuilding (like, group marriage is a thing, bisexuality is either normative or completely unremarkable, etc) but also stuff about how people are "supposed to" relate to the world around them and the people in it.
Unpopular opinion (I think), but I'm actually quite fond of Murderbot's disaster thrupple. I think it really shows us a lot about Preservation's cultural baseline. Lots of what we see them dealing with is new or life-threatening, and they're trying to adapt to it. But the thrupple is a slice of life sort of problem.
It gives us a window into how casual sex is allowed to be on Preservation (you can jump into bed with a coworker with no apparent fear on anyone's part that it's going to make work weird). Similarly, they're confident in the emotional communication to make sure everyone's okay.
In ASR, Murderbot mentions that pretty much all of PresAux is into someone else in PresAux, and it likes that this doesn't lead to any fights, but it doesn't really come into the story. The show brings it in. They can handle these weird relationships. They can deal with whatever the fuck this thrupple is, they can deal with Gurathin's feelings for Mensah, they can have all these very messy feelings right out there in the open and it's not going to ruin everything.
IDK, I just think it's a neat bit of insight into how much Preservation's people-first culture really does make their lives better and happier, even when they still have all the messiness inherent to being human.

hey we *should* talk abt tashiro and loneliness! sometimes i get reminded of that page in second anime guidebook extra where tashiro is just quietly observing around and when he says its gonna be lonely kuresawa does his glasses thing,,, and what happened to lonelines,,, we definitely should talk about it
okay i need to lock in. hello anon thank you so much for letting me unleash this unto the world. buckle up strap in Here we go.
TASHIRO GONZABUROU AND LONELINESS: AN IMPROMPTU ESSAY
first we are all going to look at this excerpt from the Sasaki and Miyano: First Years Novel:
“So you’re never coming back, President?” I said. “I ain’t President anymore.” “Not the point! I haven’t beat you yet…” I clenched my fists, a yawning, lonely feeling of loss opening within me. “Ahh. You mean the thing about getting to quit if you win? The next president’ll keep that promise. Don’t you worry.” “What?” I don’t get it. What happened to the loneliness? The new president—in other words, Hanzawa.
a bit of context just in case you're here and you don't know yet: Tashiro's chapter in the first years novel deals with his joining of the ping pong club, which he initially did as a joke kind of but couldn't leave until he beat the club president (really good at ping pong). so he's downright stuck. and he doesn't like to admit it but he dedicates a lot of his time trying to beat the president. and he never does win. and then the president graduates and hanzawa is the new president. so it's like. for a moment, all that time and dedication and well. friendship. was being taken away from him. i think the previous president was maybe one of the closest people he had. takes two to play ping pong, and all that. it's a conversation. hurts to have your partner taken away.
and then we get the second guidebook extras. where fucking this happens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and afterwards miyano thinks about loneliness and Sasaki graduating but we're Not Going To Get Into That. sooo funny you're comparing hanzashiro and sasamiya harusono shou Sorry. this isn't about that. anyways. we see it here again. Tashiro's president is graduating again. and he feels lonely. and this time there's no one to replace it. that yawning, lonely feeling of loss. (<-just. a really insane way to describe it. insanely profound. harusono shou and hachijo kotoko Answer my calls.)
so those kind of set the stage for me being completely totally insane. even before these, i kinda always had the feeling of like. what I've mentioned in my other posts. about how hes Friends With Everyone but not close with anyone. he's quite surface level. and those he Was rather close with, the prospect of losing them makes him lonely so easily. even just graduating. not getting to see them every day. and like. when he does let that feeling slip in the guidebook extra, everyone is kinda. stunned. like that show of vulnerability isn't normal at all from him. the way it's also framed as rainy and gloomy, and especially that dim panel of him smiling but thinking "it feels like not even half of them are still around…" its ominous as hell. he's so melancholic about it. but he still puts on that smiley facade. and looks around like it's a ghost town when nobody's looking.
another facet of it is his sharp insight. he's really good about noticing things about other people. and he's a really good listener. so i think a lot of people just. end up telling him things. but he doesn't really tell other people things. which is what i mean by friends with everybody but not close with anybody. people open up to him, but he doesn't open up to them. and the only people he was getting there with go on and graduate. leaves him lonely.
so it's all kinda like. he's very surface level social. in a way that nobody thinks he's got anything else going on. hes a Fun Guy!! nothing wrong over here! not that he necessarily has anything Wrong. just the feeling of like. he could have like a dead parent and nobody would know something was amiss. thats kinda dramatic but. yknow. he doesn't really talk about his feelings. anyways.
last aspect of the loneliness i wanna touch on a bit is his relationship with his parents. we. don't get much. one mention of them in his miso soup conversation:
“Man, that makes no sense to me! For one thing, we don’t even have miso every day at my house. If I want some, I just grab a packet of the instant stuff and boil up some water—on my own. I guess sometimes my folks ask me to make some for them, too, and I grab two packets.” “Huh! Wait, isn’t it actually expensive to make two people’s worth?” “Sure is. If that goes on for a couple days, my mom is like, it would be cheaper just to make a bunch at once! She always says laziness is the root of wasting money. And I’m like, I know that! But I keep making that soup.”
we'll get more into all that again later. focusing on his folks here. we can infer here that his parents don't seem to cook that often. it falls to him to make dinner for them all sometimes. and. i dunno. something about this makes them read as kinda distant. not in a neglectful or hurtful way... just. they don't care about what he does. like. I don't think he told them or asked permission to bleach his hair. he just Did It and came home and they were like Oh! well thats cool i guess [thumbs up]. i don't think he's very close with them either. like. he doesn't know How to open up, maybe. didn't grow up with it. that may be stretching it a bit though. whatever. either way, he keeps making that soup (miso soup metaphor for love. we'll get into it later).
so it's like. he does love his friends. he just sucks at opening up about his #feelings. and nobody could tell if he was truly upset about something. and everybody wants to hang out with someone else. it's played off for jokes but kuresawa and miyano often abandon him during breaks and holidays to hang out with their #lovers. though everybody note that shirahama is probably the exception to most of this. but he's also bad at talking about feelings so they don't really Talk about it. but he Knows. and they like to #hangout. (and thats part of what makes shirashiro so good to me. shirahama can ask a "hey are you okay" in a way that no one else can. #bestfriends) anyways.
i thiiink. that's everything. thank you for coming to my ted talk. thesis: Tashiro is secretly a pretty lonely guy but god forbid he Tell Anyone. peace and love on planet Tashiro gonzaburou….

D.A.M.N. CREW SCP AU
(also for the record, i know absolutely next to nothing about actual SCP lore, so this will be entirely based off of Vibes and Vibes alone)
OKAY SO . i've been brainrotting about this for the past 24-ish hours and maybe might potentially perchance have a fic in the works that's already at 2k words! but! it's nowhere even near done, so for now i'll just give some headcanons on what i think the crew is/looks like in this AU:
Gavin is something akin to a siren mixed with a fallen angel. when I say siren, i mean like -- a mythologically accurate siren. More harpy-like than anything. Everything about him seems too perfect to the point it's inhuman. The whole too-perfect too-sharp teeth, too-wide smile. Eyes that seem to shift in color and looking into them for too long makes your head hurt. Horns that curl around the crown of his head like a halo. Maybe even wings, depending on how far you want to lean into the whole fallen angel thing.
Damien is, for lack of a better way to describe it, on fire. Literally. His hair, his skin, everything is always on fire. Nobody understands how it doesn't hurt him at all. His eyes burn like smoldering embers, and when you can get a glimpse at the skin hidden beneath the flames-- it looks almost like volcanic, molten rock.
Huxley is one of the few people actually able to touch Damien, if only for the fact that he's literally made out of stone. He's just this big 'ole construct-looking guy. He's covered in moss that seems to grow across his whole form-- imitating clothing. His hair is made out flowering, blooming vines. Everything around him seems to grow and bloom rapidly.
Lasko is, in a sense, the physical manifestation of wind. He's often only really seen in your peripherals. In passing shadows, ones that catch your attention, but when you turn to actually look, it's gone. He's pretty much always entirely invisible -- if you look closely enough around him, you might be able to make out his vague outline, visible only by the way the light shapes and bends around him, but his form is always ever-shifting like the wind itself.
Freelancer is... strange. They look -- well, normal? It's really hard to say. They seem to be stuck in a weird limbo state, not truly alive but not dead either. That, and the other's abilities and anomalous properties don't seem to affect them at all. They can see Lasko perfectly clearly, Damien's fire doesn't burn them, it doesn't hurt to look at Gavin, etc.
There is something so incredibly Wrong about Dear, but not in the same way as the rest of the group. They're the lead scientist, in charge of looking after and studying the group of anomalous entities. Are they Fucked Up and Weird and very morally grey? Absolutely! But they're also entirely human(?) Nothing eldritch-y or creature-like about them yet.

A mildly warm take that I've somehow never seen before.
The SuMo art style is very good, but Ash has a bad design.
Everyone else looks fine, it's just that he wasn't adapted to the art style well. He's always been a very angular and spiky character, so making him soft and squishy was never going to go over well with the fans, but Ash specifically looks terrible in a way that none of the other characters do, and I think it soured everyone's opinion of the show before they could actually watch it.
Character design rant below the cut.
Regarding his design being bad, I'm actually surprised that nobody's cared to explain why he doesn't look right beyond "he's SQUISHY >:C" because if you look at his SuMo design alongside the others, it's actually pretty easy to see what's wrong with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They messed up his anatomy.
Let me explain.
Throughout the course of the previous anime series, Ash has had a relatively consistent facial structure, even during the switch to digital animation. SuMo, however, drew his face wrong and for some reason, they just kept it like that.
Tumblr media
The image I found in this Reddit post has them all side by side (minus Journeys) and with them all together, it's pretty blatantly obvious what they got wrong with his anatomy.
His eyes are too small and his mouth is too big. That's it.
Stylized as SuMo was, I'm genuinely shocked that they didn't go back and fix something as simple as this, given how much effort they put into the rest of the animation.
Another weird thing about this design is that nobody else in the anime has proportions like this. It's literally just Ash. I'd be more understanding of the "It's just a different art style!" crowd if that weren't the case, but Ash's design is uniquely bad in a way that none of the other characters are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fuck, Mallow's face structure is more Ash-like than the Ash we got in SuMo. If it's really just stylization, why didn't they make him look more like her instead of what we got?
Tumblr media
Along with the fucked up anatomy, I don't like his outfit and I don't think that it's something that Ash would realistically wear day-to-day, given what we've seen him with before. The color scheme is right, but throughout the series, he's shown a preference for wearing sportswear, particularly lightweight jackets and fingerless gloves that look similar to the special batting gloves that baseball players use. Comparatively, the outfit he wears in SuMo looks like something he pulled out of the Old Navy bargain bin. It might be a decent enough outfit for another character, but it doesn't look right for Ash.
Obviously he wasn't actively traveling like how he was in the prior generations, but because he never stopped working with Pokémon while he was in Alola, I don't see a reason for him to drop the sportswear. Even when they dressed him up as fucking Calem in XY, they did the bare minimum and modified his outfit so that it was more appropriate for his character, cutting off the sleeves and letting him keep his gloves. If they were that hellbent on making him cosplay Elio from the games, why didn't they do the same thing they did in XY?
I also generally hated the relatively short lived XY-SuMo trend of putting him in other characters' outfits and I'm glad it died. Rest in piss.
In short, despite what rage baiting YouTube channels would have you believe, SuMo doesn't have the worst art style ever made.
(That honor goes to Journeys, but that's a rant for another day.)
Hell, it doesn't even have a bad art style, and the show is both a fun break from the bland edgefest that was XY and just a generally well animated series. Ash's design just sucks because for whatever reason, the character designers went out of their way to make it suck, and I'm sad that the animators got so much shit for it when it was just one shitty design in a sea of good ones.
So to all the people who have been fighting for a million years over whether SuMo is ugly or not, here's your answer.
There is one (1) ugly character design in the show that breaks all of the design conventions of that show for no reason and everything else is great. All of you can shut up now. Goodbye.

📊 alastor and his need for control!!!
Tumblr media
I'd start this by proving that it exists, but I don't think I need to. Just look at him. His need to make deals in the way he does, the almost comical amount of control he keeps over his presentation at all times, things like that. So I'll move to my ideas of why he has it.
The main reason is fear, of course. He fears being known in any capacity he doesn't want to be known, for example (it's a major part of his breakdown in the last episode, the potential of being known as someone who would die for a charitable cause). As an overlord, losing control of anything means a major threat to their power, especially when he built everything on the control he has already.
I imagine his need for control compounds on itself. He got to where he is through the control he has, so to keep what he has, he must keep that control. There's very little way for him to even entertain the idea of loosening his hold on anything in the slightest.
He is a manipulator, and one thing he definitely fears is being manipulated in the same way he manipulates others. That's part of why he keeps that smile on and why he watches everything he says. If anyone knows too much about him, then they could potentially manipulate him.
He needs control because it's his main tool against everything he fears. If he controls everything enough, then there's no way for things to go wrong. If he controls how he acts, then nobody will see him vulnerable, or even know that he can be vulnerable.
Ask meme response.
