The moment they realized they loved you. (Isekai Au Edition) Part 3
If you want more information on this AU here is the Link!
Hyrule:
- It confusing and full of yearning.
- The Fae Folk are very affectionate in nature. Physical touches and platonic kisses are just normal. Hyrule growing up briefly with them had adopted this habit.
- You are like that as well so you’re the one to take care of Hyrule when he wanted affection. Since other then Legend, it’s awkward to ask the others.
- He finds however while he still asks/gives you affection. He gets more flustered and embarrassed when you initiated contact.
___________________________________
Admittedly Hyrule never had a clear understanding of Hylian social norms. Some things were easy to pick up when he was just traveling by himself. However, there was a lot that conflicted with Fae social norms. While yes, the Fae were more mischievous and could be borderline malicious, they are very affectionate creatures. Which was the one of many things Hyrule picked up when he was being raised by the Great Fairy.
Before you join the chain, he had to hold himself back from being overly affectionate with the group. Yes, when he had chances, he would give a quick side hug or ruffling of the hair for the younger Link’s. But nothing on the level of cuddles or small peaks on the cheek and forehead. You though! You were the one to lay the affection on everyone thick. Most if not every Hero has melted from all the complements and physical affection.
Hyrule was living his best life now with you! Cuddles are a must for the two of you. Especially when one another has been having a rough day. You’ve also gotten the others involved with this newly formed ritual. He just over all feeling comfortable and loved.
Which then leads to Hyrule’s issue. Slowly he began to feel embarrassed with every peak after he heals you. Then his heart begins to race when he is cuddled up resting his head against your chest. Even holding your hands became hard for him to stand! It felt so warm but also made him fearful. He was scared of losing you. Losing this warmth. This comfort. He wanted to keep it but scared that this feeling was to good for him.
“-and that’s what happen so far.” He was visiting the Great Fairy Cotera of Wild’s Era. He had visited her each time they visited Kakariko. Cotera gently hummed messing with his hair. “What should I do?” He looks up to the giantess worriedly. His small sisters surround him ether sitting on top of him or by his side.
Their mother hummed as she thought about his problem. “My dear sweet child.” She started after a long pause “this human… do you feel different compared to your other friends? Or with your siblings in the forest?”
Hyrule thought about it after a while shook his head. “No… I did used to feel embarrassed with the others but it was different. This is more… warm?”
“Warm?” She urges him gently to continue. “Do you hate it?”
“No…” he sounded like a child, fidgeting in his seat “I hate how anxious it makes me now.” You meant a lot to him. Hyrule knew you meant a lot to everyone too, but that normal! You’ve helped them all in some sort of way! Yet he was deep in that unidentifiable emotion towards you. He adores you. All of you. Even during your more impulsive actions he didn’t mind having to heal you. Of course, he would truly rather not heal anyone with his magic. Yet… with you giving his payment in kisses on the cheek or forehead… he can’t stay mad at you.
“Chin up little one.” Cotera lifted up his head “your feelings are valid and has a simple explanation.” Hyrule pouted slightly making her giggle a bit tapping lightly on his nose. “You my dear seem to love your sweet human.”
It was like a lanterned was just lit in a dark cave he was wandering in. Finally revealing a path out. Everything thing slowly explaining itself. “Oh…” was all he could say as he was comprehending it. His sisters were giggling at their brother’s expense causing him to blush. It all made to much sense.
“Roolie! Are you nearby?” He and the Great Fairy both perk up when they heard your voice. He stared up at the Great Fairy expectingly.
“Well?” Cotera nudged him off of the petals of her fountain. “What are you waiting for little one?”
___________________________________
- Well, that was embarrassing and he knows once he starts perusing you. The more his siblings of the forest will start to tease him. Not only that but the chain also catches on pretty quickly.
- He becomes a blushing and stuttering mess around you, not pulling away from your touch but leaning more into him.
- It will be a miracle if he confesses but he will! And he will do it in a more intimate manner though, with or without help.

Four:
- It took long to accept but filled with soft cotton fluff.
- Isn’t canon in the manga that the colors (minus Vio) straight up try to impress a girl they just met?
- Now I’m not saying he is like that now a days, but old habits die hard right. He probably doesn’t even recognize that he still does it.
- Honest to God the resident brain cell is the only one that new point blank what was happening. Having a “not again” moment.
___________________________________
It’s been a while since Four was back in his forage. He missed every second of it. The smithing process was the one hobby each color had in common. As Link they found it relaxing, something to get their mind off of things.
That morning was no different. Traveling on the road was stressful even for a seasoned adventurer. Traveling alone was boring which was the upside according to Red. It relieved them of responsibility Green was used to taking upon himself to carry. Blue was at least a lot calmer with having to be on alert all the time. Vio had pointed out this was mainly because of You.
The chaos came back full force. The same argument has been happening recently, it was about his feelings towards you. Now they all liked you as a friend. Four knew that for a fact. He was only six when he felt your presence and this situation, he was in was as if an imaginary friend became real! At least that’s what Red felt.
No matter if they were unified or separated, Four could trust you to help him out of even the messiest situations. So, what if some of those situations were caused by him trying to impress you? That doesn’t mean anything!
Just because Blue became a stuttering mess when you surprised Four with a flower crown just meant he was taken aback at your kindness! He isn’t good at showing his emotions. Yeah, so what about Green becoming a soft mess when you first showered him in praise and affection. Wouldn’t any person do that from someone that been through hell and back with them? It doesn’t count that Red craves your affection! He is like that with everybody and just because it makes him feel different it doesn’t count. Someone saves Vio from this.
Four was conflicted which is why he was working so early in the morning. They wouldn’t shut up about their own feelings. It was a chaotic mess inside his head as soon as he woke up. A weight on his back clued him back into reality “Good morning!” You while looking down at him smiling still holding on lazily. “How is the most beautiful person here doing?”
Ah. There goes most of composure out the window. Vio was the last one standing with Green and Blue almost hanging on. You loved to tease him and he was never able to get you back. “Don’t know how are you?” Four was really struggling to keep unified and calm. He was shaking because of the other three’s nerves. You stared at him wide eyed.
“Jeez look at you!” You give him a squeeze before finally let go of him “you’ve grown! If only you were that smooth towards Erune.” You teased.
The blush he was so desperately trying to beat down started to flare up this time out embarrassment. “Can we not talk about that?” Four could only cringe when he thought back at that bit in his adventure. Him and Erune have been close friends since then, but the colors were really trying to play the hero in front of the poor girl back then. Their antics truly were really not impressing anyone.
Green was really happy he grew out of it. Seriously it‘s not like Blue really cared about it anyway he was just a kid! Red was just happy that he got a long-term friend out of it! The audacity the others had was killing Vio. They are still just as bad and it seems like no one was listening to reason.
An explosion of emotions and thoughts collided in Four’s skull. Three denying their logical side’s claim all while getting thrown every instant in their faces by the odd one out. “Whatcha making anyway?” You were observing the short knife blade curiosity not seeing the other’s internal debate. Vio felt like he had to spell it out to each of them. Pulling up memories of their actions towards the outlander. Four struggled to focus on what you were saying but it was too loud!
“Woah there.” You turn him away from his project letting it sit safely on a cooler section of the work top. “Breath Link.” You where kneeling down in-front of him holding his hand. He focused on your warmth. The way you rubbed small circles on the back of his hand. On your voice that instructed him to breathe. In for four, hold for seven, let out for eight. Repeat. Slowly the divide melded back together. Soon the voices faded out. “There we go.” You whispered “good job Link.” Four stared back at you still tired from everything but nonetheless happy that your here with him.
Man, he loved you so much.
Wait-
___________________________________
- It was definitely an I told you so moment.
- Four as a whole though is still struggling to come to terms with it, even though he had already admitted his feelings.
- Another case of: drown him in affection until he realized. Not because of him not believing you! It’s just you have four people in a trench coat here! If one is conflicted then four as a whole will feel that subtly.

Bonus (just Headcanons):
Wind (finding out that a Link has a crush on you)
- The little gremlin is going to have a field day! He was thinking about messing around but the other hero is doing his work for him!
- The only one saved from this Black Mail harvest is you. He does have a few things but you mostly let him off the hook when he gets in trouble anyway sooooo…
- Not the best wing man but he honestly isn’t trying. He is just enjoying the journey.
- He might be tempted to help if he was asked but there isn’t much he could do. You are his right hand after all! Why would he let your secrets go so easily?
- Imagine Wind just vibes with you when the other Link is trying their best and you literally ask if the other hero was ok since they are acting weird around you. It would take Wind a minute to get an answer because all he is thinking is: ‘are you dense?’
- Or on the flip side. If you know about their feelings. He would definitely be on board of helping you out. Again, you’re his right hand! Of course, he’ll help you! (Favoritism)
- Wind: “Don't worry. He likes your butt and fancy hair. I know. I read their diary.” (Y/n): “He thinks it's fancy?”
(Part 1) and (Part 2)
My First Request is now done :D! That was fun. Thank you Pinky and Star for the request <3

Headcanons for being Dr. Strange’s Apprentice
Stephen Strange x apprentice!reader
warnings:
a/n: for some reason i never retain any information from dr. strange stuff? so if this sucks its because i cant process it. i dont like how this one turned out i literally have no ideas
prompt: anonymous: “Hcs for being Dr. Strange’s apprentice?”
Tumblr media
you were led to become strange’s apprentice after a tragedy and a brush with death
you woke in the hospital with bad news, there were no other survivors in the accident you had just experienced
while you were recovering, a doctor came in to visit you
“hi, y/n. im doctor christine palmer, and im so sorry for your loss. but i think i know a guy that could help you through this”
she gave you an address that you sort of recognized
“177A bleecker street? isnt that the funky looking house in greenwich?”
“something like that, just trust me on this one”
“thank you, doctor”
at first, you were a bit skeptical, but you tried your odds and hobbled to the place on your crutches
when you knocked, a man in blue robes and a red cape answered
“can i help you, y/n?”
“oh, hi? sorry, a doctor at metro-general sent me here”
“doctor palmer, im aware”
“ah, she called ahead?”
“no. come in”
you were very weirded out
“so, what is this place? and who are you?”
“you ask too many questions”
“oh, okay”
from the moment this wizard met you, he saw himself in you
lost, hopeless, upset with the way the world had treated you
“to answer your earlier question, i am doctor strange, the sorcerer supreme”
“oh...i dont know what that means”
he found you somewhat funny
“in time, you will”
he looked back on the teachings of his former master to show you what it meant to start your training
you honestly didn’t know what to think of the kaleidoscope of the world projected in front of you
“are you ready to commit to your training?”
“sure...i mean, i dont have anything else to do”
a valid reason, truly
“your leg will heal naturally, your mind, on the other hand...”
“i know, i gotta do some spiritual shit to help myself”
“thats one what to put it”
it took some time for you to understand what it was that dr. strange was teaching
but once you grasped the puzzling concepts, you excelled
there was a fine contrast between you and your master
he was much more sophisticated than you, but he had a sense of humor
you were on the bubbly side, always goofing around with your magic
“y/n, how many times must i remind you that opening portals into the freezer for the ice cream is misuse of your magic”
“oh, come on! i just cant resist the hunka-hulka burnin’ fudge!”
“just...just walk to the kitche—did you seriously just grab it while i was telling you not to?”
*through a mouthful* “sohwry”
wong watches the two of your sorcerers converse often, it’s one of the only things that really makes him laugh
calling the cloak of levitation “cloakie”
it drives strange crazy dbshahhsh
but cloakie answers to it just fine
during battles, it sometimes flies away from your master to give you a quick assist
“thanks cloakie!”
being assigned “homework”
so much reading it could’ve driven you mad
strange explaining the eye of agamotto and the time stone to you
“now listen, this comes before everything else, you must learn to protect yourself because i’ll let you die before i lose this”
“what a comforting thought”
stephen was pretty up front with you
he didn’t like the way that the ancient one kept so many secrets, so he informed you and as much as you should know
“those yellow gloves look like you’re getting ready to wash the dishes” (no hate i actually liked them lmao)
meeting thor and loki!
“i think i’ll just send loki through the looping portal while i take care of business with his brother, would you mind keeping him some company?”
“i’d love to!”
and then you gracefully fell with him, he didn’t enjoy your presence very much
stephen would tell you about his life before he became a sorcerer
all was well for a while after that but then lmaooo a famous scientist just happened to crash through the roof
“woah, you’re bruce banner! love your ice cream”
“not now, y/n”
“my bad”
meeting tony stark and just kind of...not vibing with him
but something about him seemed familiar
“no shit, sherlock” (seriously im mad i this wasn’t in a3 or a4)
epic battle on the streets of new york that led to your master being captured by aliens
you and wong went back to protect the sanctum, but you pitched in to help fight the real battle
much to the dismay of wong
and then wong dusted, so you were left to protect the sanctum
you missed your master very much
in the next five years, you did all you could to learn about your magic
and your skills proved spectacular
you suspected that you might need to take dr. strange’s place for good
until wong reappeared right in front of you
“hello again, y/n. did you miss me?”
“miss you? wong, i’ve been dying over here!”
“that seems like an exaggeration”
helping to open portals around the world (and galaxy) to get everyone to the big battle
and finding your master, all had become right once again
“doctor strange!”
“y/n! i have to say, im impressed at how you handled yourself after thanos”
“you mean youre happy i didn’t destroy the sanctum or become interested in. the dark dimension?”
“more or less”
a teamup to remember between master and apprentice
returning to the sanctum with strange
“did you move the relics around??”
“...i wanted to remodel”
i cant think of anything else???? im sorry shhshshshsh

Awesome, cool (on RE: Marivel). Caaaan we get... uh, Soulmate Game version of marvel/ml crossover? Marinette x Peter? Or just Marinette meeting Peter via Dr. Strange in your Lady Strange AU (post-endgame maybe??). Take your pick (or do both?) and thank you if you do write them!!
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Yes.
This is a crossover between my Lady Strange AU and my Soulmate-Game AU, but since this is a different pairing it receives a different bond. I hope you like it!
—*—*—*—*—*
“I think somebody drew on me in my sleep,” was the first thing he told his Aunt and Uncle, who just blinked at him for a long moment with their toothbrushes half in their mouths. Peter was supposed to be getting ready for school in his own room, but instead, well.
His guardians’ eyes landed on the two childish, but extremely clean doodles on the top of Peter’s shoulders. They were ladybugs, one in red ink and the other blue. Only the outline was colored at all.
The little boy was tearing up.
“I don’t know how they e-ended up here. Why would s-somebody draw on me? It’s mean. Is this the boogeyman? Does…”
He was interrupted by May and Ben’s laughter, shrinking into himself as the adults tried to get ahold of themselves. Ben was the first to sober up, sinking to his knees and carefully laying a gentle hand on Peter’s naked arm, making sure not to come close to the new mark on his shoulder. The poor boy had stopped putting on a shirt altogether in favor of worrying over the doodles.
“No, no,” Ben soothed, running his other hand through Peter’s cinnamon hair. “No boogeyman. This is a good thing, Petey.”
He sniffled, looking up at his father figure warily, a hopeful spark in his eye. “It is?”
“Yeah. Do you remember what we told you about soul marks?” He asked his nephew, who was starting to calm down. The boy nodded, pushing his thick glasses back up his nose from where they had started to slip.
“Almost everyone has one,” he started to recite, furrowing his brows to try and remember what he had been told.
“And they can come in hundreds of different ways,” May filled in, kneeling beside her husband. “Some people have a picture or a name on them to represent their Destined. Some people are colorblind, or missing just one color until they meet their other half.”
“Some people can switch bodies or hear a song in their head that tells them how their soulmate is feeling,” Ben agreed. “There are tons of Bonds. Not everyone has a physical mark. But you,” he nodded to the ladybugs on his nephew’s shoulders. “You do.”
Peter started panicking again. “Oh no, I have two soulmates? What am I gonna do? What if they don’t like me, how can I love two people, I—“
“Relax, honey,” May rustled Peter’s hair with a soft smile. “I don’t think you have two, I think your mark is more complicated than that. Look, the ladybugs are exactly the same except for the color. The mark will probably do something exciting later, when you meet them.”
“Something exciting?” Peter parroted, making Ben chuckle.
“Yeah, but for now they are just cute pictures. Pictures which better be covered up by a shirt soon, or you’ll be late to school bud.”
“Ack!” He had forgotten he was still shirtless. “Sorry Uncle Ben!” Peter Benjamin Parker dashed back to his room as fast as his seven-year-old legs would carry him.
—*—*—*—*—*
Seven years later.
Marinette hummed, analyzing her reflection. Her halter top looked nice, a new design of hers. Tikki hovered near her, similarly happy with the clothing. And then the Kwami squeaked in dismay when her holder reached for foundation.
“Woah woah woah, what are you doing Marinette?!” The little god asked, tempted to take the makeup away. “The shirt makes your soul marks stand out so beautifully! I’m not a huge fan of spiders, but yours are so cute!”
The pigtailed girl blushed bright red, looking into the mirror to see both of the little doodles on her shoulders at the same time. They really were adorable, one cartoony spider on the top of each shoulder, one red and one blue. She didn’t wear the crop top to show them off though. She wore it because she needed to feel confident, and her usual blouses weren’t cutting it. She wanted to feel powerful, free, anything to escape the feeling of water droplets on her skin and the sight of people pinned by buildings, drowning. Blue skin, glassy eyes—
Marinette’s shook her head, taking a deep breath. The halter top she was wearing was a carefully, artistically dyed swirl of baby blue and baby pink. Strategic gathers in the cloth swirled the two colors around one another, bringing them to a small pinpoint of pale purple at the very point where the cloth had first been pinched and curled.
It was whimsical, it was childish and mature all at once. It was what Hope felt like to Marinette. The very thing she needed to try and heal from the whole Syren disaster a few weeks earlier.
“I like them too,” Marinette finally responded to her Kwami, running her fingers over the blue spider, the one on her right shoulder. It had completely vanished when she got home after the Syren attack, proving her father right from when he had told her all those years ago that her Bond was likely more than just a few doodles. “But only my parents know about them. I know the Miraculous suits are pretty much indestructible, but I don’t want to take any chances with this crazy world. If my shoulders ever get exposed while I’m Ladybug, I don’t want anyone to be able to connect that to Marinette,” she explained, slowly and regretfully spreading foundation over both marks and spritzing setting spray over it so that the makeup wouldn’t move anytime soon.
She knew why her blue spider had temporarily vanished. She had thought maybe she had just been imagining it before, when she would occasionally be in the middle of an anxiety attack and think that her blue spider was a little paler than usual. Or on the few occasions when she was going days without sleep, or overextending herself for her friends and her red spider would look a little dull.
She wondered what that meant for the person on the other end of their connection.
—*—*—*—*—*
And then she found out. She was fifteen, and it was about five in the morning. Marinette jolted out of bed, feeling a searing heat on her right shoulder. Throwing her shirt off, she saw it— her red spider was glowing. She felt herself trembling, but she didn’t know why. Tears were raining down her face, but she wasn’t sad. Her hands felt oddly wet and sticky, but they were completely clean.
The teenager shared a long, bewildered look with Tikki before carefully letting her fingers brush over the red spider. And she understood.
Anger. Guilt. He’s blaming himself. He’s dead. My fault. My fault. Blood. Is she feeling this? I’m making her feel this. Stupid. Worthless. Mistake. Mistake.
Marinette pried her hand away from the mark, gasping from the influx of emotions. She didn’t know details, probably to protect the identity of the person on the other end of the Bond, but she got the gist of it. The longer she had stayed on the connection, the more lucid thoughts she got straight from the boy himself. None of it had been promising.
She was able to surmise this; someone close to him died, or was dying. Her hands probably felt sticky because of the literal blood on his. Oh Kwami, he probably saw them die right in front of him. Probably held them.
And there was no Cure to reverse it for him.
But the most important part was that he was blaming himself for it, and Marinette couldn’t stand it. She ground her teeth, and touched the mark again with full intention of making sure he knew it wasn’t his fault. That he wasn’t worthless, and that she wasn’t mad at him for this.
But nothing happened. She tried touching the blue spider, but nothing happened. She tried meditating, hoping they had a mental connection—nothing. Absolutely. Nothing.
The heat was gone from her shoulder, the connection over.
Marinette raged at her inability to help a boy she never met.
—*—*—*—*—*
Four months later, she knew the situation was about to be reversed. She stared down at the old man in front of her, frail and weak but forcing himself to stand and hold the heavy box in the air in front of him. The weight made his twig-thin arms shake, and the pigtailed girl quickly snatched the item before it or the man holding it dropped.
“Master,” she whispered, her eyes frantically searching his. “Don’t. The magic, Tikki’s magic, can help. I’ve been practicing. Don’t—“
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, daughter of Sabine Cheng and biological daughter of Steven Strange,” the old man started, making Marinette snap her mouth shut with the force of his words. She didn’t know how he found out about her biological father, but didn’t bother asking. It wasn’t important, and he had too many possible ways of finding out through magic. No, his words right now were the only things she found worth focusing on in that moment. “I, Wang Fu, find myself too old to carry on my duties as Grand Guardian. But you are the best student I could have ever asked for. A True Ladybug with a soul of creation, a disciplined mind, and an open heart. I name you as my heir, and as the new Grand Guardian. Do you accept the transference of my title?”
Marinette didn’t want to. The wise eyes boring back into hers said that he knew, that he would understand if she refused. But Marinette also knew that refusing would not grant her the happy ending she wanted from this situation, only regret. His eyes said that he knew that, too.
“I accept,” she didn’t know how she was able to croak that out, but she managed somehow. “Wang Fu, I will gladly take on the title of Lady Strange, the new Grand Guardian. I vow to protect as you have protected, to guard the innocent and punish those who try to upset balance with the Miraculous. To keep the Universe as peaceful as possible with my power.”
“Then let my wisdom become yours,” Fu finished the sacred speech, closing his eyes as a bright green mist was born from his feet. It grew, sliding up his body until it exited his head in a giant luminous cloud like a swarm of fireflies on a misty night. Marinette refused to close her eyes, stubbornly keeping her gaze on Master Fu as the magical green fog covered her own body and sank into her skin. The knowledge of the Guardian’s language and traditions appeared in her mind, along with the rest of Fu’s wisdom and experience with the Miraculous.
“Young lady? Are you alright, you’re crying.”
Marinette took a deep breath, her eyes still locked onto the brown orbs that no longer recognized her. Slowly, she put the miracle box down on his bedside table.
“Yes, I’m fine. How do you feel?”
The old man wobbled, and the young girl had to catch him before he fell. “Let’s get you into bed,” she decided for him, getting a nod and a grateful smile in return. It was after he was in his bed and his eyes were starting to droop that he spoke again, this time in Mandarin.
Which Marinette now spoke, like a final gift from him to her.
“Are you my granddaughter?”
Marinette bit her lip, placing a gentle hand on Fu’s shoulder before responding in the same language;
“That’s right.”
She didn’t need a heart monitor to know when his pulse stopped. She could feel the magic of life drain from him, the Creation that made him who he was disappearing from his form. She dropped, her legs no longer able to support her weight, and sobbed into his comforter.
It happened then, she could feel a phantom hand on her right shoulder. Trying to provide comfort but not able to speak.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. I want you here. But thank you. For everything. Thank you.
She didn’t know if she was trying to send those thoughts to Fu or to the boy trying to help her despite never having met her.

Swords and Stab Wounds | Hisirdoux Casperan

masterlist
Tumblr media
This wasn’t happening.
Nope, nope, nopenopenopenopenopenopenopenope, not today.
You were not okay with this, so you had elected to ignore it.  But that never works, does it?
So, now you were face to face with a great monster beyond comprehension.  The sky was orange, monsters and men were fighting everywhere, and some lady in golden armor was pretty clearly trying to take over the world.  And you had moved to Arcadia to avoid this kind of thing.
You sighed.  This demonic creature of sin wouldn’t wait for you to process everything that had happened today.  It was time for action.  You looked around for something to defend yourself with. There wasn’t much.  Just a few sticks and a fast-food cup.  You wished you had a sword.  Any sword.  There were no swords.  You turned back to the awful horrible abomination advanced above the human mind.  It was advancing.  That wasn’t good.
Before you could decide whether to run, fight, or give up, a boy emerged from absolutely nowhere and struck the thing with a guitar, killing it instantly.  This did not phase you, stranger things have, in fact, happened.
“You alright darling?”
Oh shit, he was talking to you.  And he had an accent.  Nice.
“Uh, yeah, I’m good,”
The boy gave you a thumbs up and ran back into the fray.  You should’ve probably gotten in there too, but also nyeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no thank you.
As if it had heard your hesitation, the universe decided to make this worse for everyone involved and blow up some various objects.  You couldn’t tell what it was, you just saw fire and smoke.  And then you heard the screams.  As done with war and fighting as you were, you couldn’t stand by and let innocent people suffer.
It was time to go find a sword.
--
Finding a sword was not as hard as it sounded.  There were a lot of them lying on the ground, just none in the spot where you’d been attacked.  T’was inconvenient.  As you fought, you realized that these were probably weapons of the deceased.  You could mourn later, now was the time to- DUCK.
You maneuvered around one of the regular bad monsters (not the colossal tower of pure malice that you’d been saved from earlier,) finding an opening and striking.  Fighting came to you as easy as breathing.  Since you were a child you’d been fighting.  Fighting for your family, your friends, your home.  And now you were fighting again, for the innocent.  When would the forces of evil take a nap?
‘Probably never,’ you thought as you slid under a sword, turning on your knees to slice the back of the creature’s knees.
Maybe it’s good that some things never change.  Evil always wants to fight, and knees are always a weak point.
You stood, taking a deep breath as you looked at the carnage around you.  Most of it was actually caused by you.  You were very good with a sword.
“Woah,” a voice came from behind you.  You spun around, pointing the tip of your blade at the new opponent, but instead of another rock-thing, you found the boy who had saved you earlier.
You lowered your blade, “Hey,”
The boy walked towards you, taking in the field of rock at your feet, “This is-”
“Different?”
“Nuclear!  Maybe you didn’t need my help after all,”
“Oh, no, I totally did.  I had no weapon and no hope,”
The boy seemed taken aback by your words.  Arcadians probably weren’t this blunt, at least under normal circumstances.  You weren’t sure, you had only lived here a week.
“Alright then, do you-”
“DOUXIE, LOOK OUT!!”  a voice called.  You had no idea where it came from, but you didn’t care.  A monster had appeared behind the boy, and it was ready to strike.  You had five seconds to do something.
And in those five seconds, you did what anyone else would do and you ran them both through with your sword.  It was super effective.
The boy cried out in pain, because, you know, he’d just been stabbed, and the monster crumbled to stone behind him.  Good.  Now all that was left was to take care of the boy.
You withdrew your sword from his abdomen, earning a groan of pain, “You-you stabbed me,”
“Yes, you’re very observant, now let me see it,”
You put your weapon on the ground, not super jazzed about his blood coating the blade.  Oh well, sometimes sacrifices must be made.
You helped the boy lie on the ground and moved your hands above his wound.  You were ready to go, but then a dragon attacked you.
It wasn’t a big dragon.  In fact, it was about the size of a cat.  However, size doesn't really matter when it comes to damage dealt, and this cat-dragon was dealing a lot of damage.
“What the fu-”
“STAY AWAY FROM HIM,”  Oh, so this was an angry cat-dragon.  Probably the boy’s.
“Okay, dude, calm down, I can’t help if you don’t let me,”
“You’ve helped enough!”  Cat-dragon was still not pleased with you.  And was still attacking, so you moved your hands, stopping the creature in mid-air, grabbing it from where it flew.
“Okay, look,”  you sighed,  “I am sorry I stabbed your friend, but if you don’t let me heal him, he will die,”
“Ughhh, thanks for that,”  you wondered if the boy was always this funny, or if it was just the stab wound talking.
The cat-dragon fixed you with a terrifying glare, one that would have turned you to stone if you didn’t have work to do, “I will let you help him, but if you try anything you’ll be burned to a crisp before your body hits the ground,”
It was an impressive threat, especially from such a small creature.
“Don’t worry,” you said, setting the cat-dragon down, “I won’t hurt him anymore,”
The cat-dragon then turned into an actual cat, curling up next to the boy’s head.  It was then you realized that the creature was wearing some really nice glasses.  You had several questions but now was not the time.
Wasting no more time, you shut your eyes and took a deep breath.  Silently, you placed your hands upon the boy’s stab wound, wincing slightly at the feeling of his blood covering your skin.  You felt bad about it.  There were probably better ways to kill that monster, but you couldn’t focus on that right now.  You had to focus.
And so you did.  And the magic flowed through you.  It was soft and warm, and bright.  You relaxed, letting the spell numb you, calming your nerves, and mending your broken skin.  It felt like a soft fire, lighting your soul ablaze, and taking everything else with it.  And then you felt numb.  The magic was burning through you, and burning out.  Exhaustion began to claw at you, but you bit your lip and persisted.  You were nowhere near finished.
Now it was the boy's turn.  Raising your hands, you let the spell drip from you and onto him.  Hopefully, the magic had taken enough energy from you to spare him from the numb fatigue that tore into you.  God knows you’d already caused him enough pain.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for the magic to heal him.  A few minutes went by and his breathing returned to normal.  He would be okay.
And with your positive diagnosis, you let the spell go, releasing the energy into the universe and knocking you over.  You elected to remain on the ground, groaning.  You could hear the cat-dragon-cat talking to the boy.  You should probably say something too.
 “You alright?”
“Yeah, yeah, thanks for that,”
You waited for a moment.  Something else blew up nearby, but you needed a minute before you had the energy to care about it.
“I’m sorry I stabbed you.  I really couldn’t think of another way,”
“Why not let the troll attack me, and if I got hurt you could heal me then?”
“I couldn’t know how bad it would hurt you.  I don’t know very much about what’s going on here.  But I do know that I can heal a stab wound.  A… what did you say troll?  A troll attack I don’t know if I could manage,”
“That’s… fair?”
“Thanks,” you nodded, even though he probably couldn’t see you.  There was more silence, another explosion.  You really wanted a nap.
“So, your cat-dragon talks?”
“Uh, yeah, he’s a shapeshifter, actually.  My familiar,”
“Dope,”
“My name is Archie, however, you may not address me at all, much less by my name,”
“That’s fair,” you said, closing your eyes.  There was a rock digging into your side.  You couldn’t nap here, “I did almost kill your guy,”
“My name is Douxie,”
“Cool, cool, cool, I’m (Y/N),”  you sat up and turned to face him, letting yourself take him in for the first time.
He was definitely cute.  He was tall with a very nice face and hazel eyes that stunned you for a moment.  His black was dyed blue at the ends, and the ends themselves were so long that they hung in his face.  He had an aesthetic going for him for sure, a black hoodie, skull necklace.  What would that be, cryptidcore?  Dark academia?  Punk?  The metal cuff on his wrist definitely added to the confusion, but it probably didn’t matter too much what aesthetic this guy subscribed too.  Maybe, if one day fate was kind enough to let him forgive you for stabbing him you could ask.
For now, there were more pressing questions,  “So, what’s your deal?  You have a familiar, so you’re either a witch or a wizard,”
“Wizard.  What about you?  Not everyone in this town can run a man through with a sword and heal him immediately after,”
“Good to know.  In short, I’m a healer witch with a sword.  In long-form I was a child soldier sent into a war that I never should have been a part of because of who my parents were,”
“Oh...  (Y/N) I’m... I’m sorry-”
“It’s not your fault, it was a long time ago,”
“A long time?”  Douxie sat up, “So you-”
“Yeah, I’ve been around for a while,”
There was another second of silence while you both tried to figure out what to say next, but that stopped being a problem almost instantly.
“Douxie, I don’t want to stop you from bonding with the witch who stabbed you,” Archie said in a way that made it 100% clear that he absolutely wanted to stop Douxie from bonding with the witch who stabbed him, “But there is still a battle going on,”
“Right,” the wizard stood up now, without any sign that he’d been dying a moment before.  You’d done well healing him.
“Well, (Y/N), I guess I’ll see you on the other side,”  he extended a hand to you.
You looked up at him.  Maybe this was the start of forgiveness.  That would be nice.
You took his hand and stood.
“See you on the other side, wizard,”  you took a moment, debating whether or not this next move would be a good idea.  It was a bad one, but you went for it anyway, “Bye Archie. I like your glasses,”
You ran off before the cat could threaten your life again.
--
It had been, like, a week, since Morgana and the rock squad had tried to bring Night Eternal to Arcadia, and you were settling in pretty well.
You had finally unpacked all of your things, including your decently sized sword collection, now with the addition of a Gumm-Gumm sword (not the same one that you’d nearly killed Douxie with.  You still felt guilty about that and you’d decided to pick up a new one.)
Now, you were out for a walk near a bookstore.  It looked interesting enough, so you decided to look into the front window, only to jump out of your skin when you saw Douxie on the inside, sweeping away at the floor.  Unfortunately, he also saw you.  So you decided to run.
You didn’t get very far.  The wizard caught up to you almost immediately without having to run.  It was your fault though.  You had run into a dead-end alleyway.
“(Y/N)!  Hey!  How’ve you been?  I haven’t seen you since-”
“Since I stabbed you.  I’m sorry about that by the way,”
“I mean… I wasn’t going to say that, but you are forgiven,”
“Great!  Now if you excuse me, I’m just gonna,”  You began to walk to the end of the alley, planning on climbing over the wall to get out of this awkward situation, but once again, you did not get far.
“Would you like to get coffee sometime?”
You froze with one leg already on the wall.  Slowly, you turned to face him. “I’m sorry, but did I not stab you a week ago?”
“Well, yes, but I don’t see how that interferes with coffee,”
“Why-what-how do you,”
“Are you okay, love?”
“Why don’t you hate me!?”
Douxie blinked and then smiled at you.  Your knees felt weak.  Was that a wizard thing?  Was he doing that?
“You weren’t trying to hurt me, you were just doing what you thought was right.  You have a weird way of doing things, but I respect it.  Archie on the other hand-”
“Will your familiar kill me if I get coffee with you?”
Douxie put a hand to his chin, “He might try, but I won’t let him,”
You laughed at that, just a little, “Good.  In that case, I’d love to get coffee sometime,”
“Brilliant!  Now, do you want to get out of this alleyway?”
“Yes,”
“Okay, let’s go,”
And from there, the two of you had a very nice conversation on the way back to the bookstore where Archie tried to burn you alive.
It was a nice walk though, despite the singed edges on your clothing from the familiar at your destination.  From the sounds of things, you’d get to know what aesthetic the wizard subscribed to very soon.  And for the first time in a long time, you actually looked forward to something.

A Little Kept Secret (part 1)
Chris Halliwell x reader
Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Tumblr media
Water dripped from her lashes like droplets leaking from a faucet. Her veins sizzled like a fire had been lit inside of them and she can't feel her body anymore. God she was tired. Her vision was blurred and dancing with pretty purples and yellows that swayed and twinkled in every direction.
Then, just as she felt like every last drop had been drained from her existence, it stopped, and everything went black.
----------------------------
Lights. More lights. They were dancing beyond her closed eyes, twinkling like fairy lights. Yellow and orange sparks of pristine beauty.
Y/n awoke with a gasp, the lights fading and transforming into a bright glow that was emanating from a pair of hands that were unfamiliar to her.
"Who are you?" Her voice was raspy and her throat tight.
"My name is Leo, can you tell me yours?" The lights stopped, a dull ache filling the entirety of Y/n's body.
"Y/n," she pushed herself up, taking in her surroundings. She was sitting on an old couch, the white, floral decorated cushions soft beneath her aching body. "Where the hell am I?" She asked, pushing frizzy strands of still-damp hair out of her face. She swept all of her hair up her neck, smoothing it along the top of her head and twirling it all into a bun.
"You're in the Halliwell manor. I would have healed you in the alley but there were still demons around and you were barely hanging on," Leo said, his eyes staring down at her with a softness she wasn't used to. She squirmed a bit under their warmth, sliding her feet off of the couch and onto the floor to gather more of her bearings.
"Great, go out to get a damn sandwich and end up in the charmed ones living room. I'm guessing your the white-lighter?" She asked, quirking an eyebrow.
"No, that would be me." Y/n's eyes travel beyond Leo and land upon a man a few years older than herself but looking younger than the man who had just healed her. He was leaning against the frame of the living room entrance, his arms crossed over his chest and his eyebrows drawn down with a cautionary expression. "And you are..." the words came out almost judgmentally, making Y/n's shoulders rise.
"Covered in dry sweat and dirt, so if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way," Y/n stood up, her black jacket shifting uncomfortably against her skin. She looked up at Leo, the man smiling softly at her. "Thank you for helping me, I really do appreciate it," she said, nodding her head with a half smile.
"Leo!" Y/n's attention strayed to the entrance of the living room as three women walked in. She can't lie, of course she was a bit starstruck. The charmed ones were legendary. Even if you were the highest level ranking demon out there, you would still pale in comparison to the charmed ones.
"What's wrong?" Leo turned towards them, his feet spread and his shoulders squared like he was ready for anything to be thrown at him. Y/n stood slightly behind him, her eyes flicking between all five people in the room, her magic tingling for her to just get out of there.
"Well we vanquished those stupid little parasite demons, but once we did, more stupid little demons came swarming at us trying to get this thing," one of the women held up a ring. Y/n's eyes narrow on the ring, the band thick and the color a pure gold. It was intricately designed with spirals of black that looked like billowing smoke and a blood red diamond in the middle of it.
"It is pretty, looks just about my size too," the woman beside the one with the ring took it and held it over her finger, ready to slide it on.
"No! Ring," Y/n held her hand out, the ring gone from the woman's fingers and appearing in Y/n's hand.
“Okay, who is this?" One of the women asked, pointing at Y/n with raised eyebrows.
"Oh, this is Y/n," Leo moved a bit to the side, revealing her completely. "I found her a little down from where you guys were fighting the other parasites. She was being drained but there were too many there so I brought her here," he explained.
"Good thing he did too, otherwise this one," Y/n pointed to the woman in the middle, "would have tried to kill all of you," she said, holding up the ring. "This is Alexa's ring. Named after the dark witch who cursed it in the 14th century."
"Right, she was infuriated because her lover slept with her sister, who was adamantly good even though they came from a famously evil family," the white lighter still leaning against the doorframe said.
"Right," Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, "except it was her cousin and that 'lover' was that cousins fiancé," the women all snickered as their white lighter flushed. "Alexa casted a love spell on him but it wore off mid-intercourse and he was so enraged that he nearly killed her, which is why she created the ring. It was meant to flip the morality of whoever wore it. So those that you'd normally as loved ones or friends would become enemies," she explained.
"Oh," the one that had almost put the ring on said, "well that wouldn't have been good," she chuckled innocently. "So thanks for that. I'm Paige," she stepped forward with her hand out. Y/n shook it and politely smiled, not offering her name because Leo had already said it.
"I'm Phoebe," the one who had originally been holding the ring introduced herself with a sweet wave.
"Piper," the last one introduced.
"And the white lighter?" Y/n asked, gesturing to the other man in the room.
"That would be Chris. Don't worry about him, he's a grumpy little thing," phoebe pinched the white lighters cheek as she walked past him and out of the living room.
"I am not grumpy. I am mission oriented," Chris yelled after her.
"A.k.a grumpy," she yelled from a different room. Chris rolled his eyes as he looked back at Y/n, his eyes taking her in from head to toe. She shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, clearing her throat to regain everyone's attention.
"Anyways, This has been lovely but I really need a shower," she handed the ring to Leo and gave them all a salut. "It was really nice meeting you all, thanks for not leaving me to die," she started for the door without waiting for any kind of goodbye, closing the manor door with a soft click. She shimmered out as soon as the door closed, her surroundings vanishing.
The outside of the Halliwell manor was replaced with her bedroom, her dog running up to jump on her thighs before she was even fully solid.
"Woah, hello to you too Dragon," she greeted, scratching at his ears. He barked at her, rubbing his snout against her stomach. Y/n chuckled, gently pushing him down so she could walk to the bathroom. The black leather jacket  wrapped around her was torn at the sleeve, her lips pursing in dissatisfaction as she poked her finger through the tear.
"Damn" she cursed, throwing it on the sink. Looking up at the mirror she saw just how much damage was done. Her arms were covered in bruises and cuts that had been healed thanks to Leo. She's almost lucky that the parasite demon had almost killed her, otherwise Leo wouldn't have healed her and Callies attack would have actually done her in.
Taking off her tank top revealed a deep gash at her side that stretched from the side of her torso all the way to above her belly button. It was only half healed, no longer gushing with blood but still throbbing and exposed. She sighs at it but pushes it away for now, kicking off her shoes and socks then stepping out of her pants.
Her cuts sting under the spray of the water, but the warmth of it soothes the aching in her muscles and makes her sigh. Dirt and blood seep out of her hair, sliding along the white porcelain tub and down the drain.
Nothing had really set in until now. Her mind is too active to slow down and process until she's alone and everything is quiet. With the water running at a constant, steady pace, and the flow of it being the only sound in the bathroom, there's nothing to do but process the day. She was standing face to face with the charmed ones. Her pulse is rising just thinking about it. It's like growing up reading a fairytale then meeting the fairytale characters. She can't say it was as glamorous as that however, they were ordinary people with the exception of their extraordinary powers. She could see the worry lines on pipers face, and the exhaustion on Phoebe's, and the flickering confusion on Paige's. Realizing that extraordinary people have flaws is like realizing that your parents are sometimes as scared of the dark as you are.
Y/n's mind switched to Leo and the kindness in his face. It was a baseline emotion that he didn't seem to be aware of. She could feel it inside of him, the protectiveness and the kindness that dictates his decisions. He was there, waiting and ready to help, to heal. She had never met someone with such softness in their eyes who would still get their hands dirty to help someone.
Her attention moves to Chris. Her skin heats up thinking about the way she corrected him, how someone like her could have more knowledge than the white lighter for the charmed ones. It gave her a bit of an ego boost, but the tingling in her skin didn't result from confidence.
Shaking it off, Y/n finished her shower and stepped out. She wrapped her hair in a cotton tee shirt and gently towel dried her body. She pulled a first aid kit out from under the sink and opens it on the counter. She tears a pack of alcohol swabs open with her tears and a sharp hiss escapes her mouth as she runs it along the edges of her wound. She covers it with a large white bandage, making sure it's secure  before pulling a tee shirt from her laundry basket. Y/n didn't bother with anything else other than underwear, exhaustion creeping up on her once she turned off the bathroom light. She fell into her unmade bed with no grace, burying herself unceremoniously beneath the covers and closing her eyes, letting sleep lull her unconscious.

5–Memory of Flames; Scene 2
The Muzzle of Nemesis, pages 178-193
“What—is the meaning of this!?” I demanded of Gammon, with the burning mansion in my sights. “Didn’t I ask you to wait until I arrived?”
“That’s what we were planning, but…Some of the militia men went against orders. It was hard even for me to hold them back.”
“Even so…”
--I had headed for the Dark Star Bureau after killing Tony, but it had already fallen to the militia.
Apparently they had captured Bruno. He had been brought to the militia’s main headquarters, and so was no longer at the Dark Star Bureau.
Also not at the bureau…was Gallerian. From the looks of things he had abandoned Bruno and escaped via a secret passageway.
They told me Gammon and some of the soldiers had followed after him, and so I had immediately left the building to rendezvous with them.
What I ultimately arrived at was here…Gallerian’s home—
I had asked Gammon ahead of time not to lay a hand on Gallerian.
And yet, they had already set fire to the mansion.
…According to Gammon, it was our opponent who attacked first.
“One of the soldiers suddenly caught fire. His body was consumed by blue flames.”
“Was he fired at by some fire arrow or bottle bomb?”
“…I don’t know. It didn’t look that way, at least. It was as though he’d had some spell put on him—”
…A spell, huh.
Thinking on the people Gallerian had known—my mother, and Nikolay, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary if he knew how to use magic.
Mr. Ziz, currently my mask, spoke up.
<Blue flames…In the past I have seen a sorceress who could use those>
“Who?”
<Irina Clockworker. The red cat sorceress, who lived an eternity manipulating other people. As far as I know she’s the only one who can use blue fire. I don’t know how Gallerian can do it>
“Is there…a chance that this red cat lady taught it to him?”
<She’s gone now. She died long ago>
“…”
<Perhaps Gallerian has also contracted with a demon>
“Just like…me?”
<Though even if he has—you can still kill him. As long as you use that golden bullet, there’s no way you’ll lose>
Appearing to believe I was muttering to myself, Gammon peered at my face with a doubtful expression.
“—Nemesis? You alright?”
“Huh? Yeah…I was just thinking aloud. –Gallerian is inside. You’re certain of that?”
“He can’t get outside with these flames. If we leave the mansion be, eventually—”
“…That’s not good enough.”
I couldn’t just let him die without having ever confronted him.
I slowly started to walk towards the mansion.
“Hey, Nemesis! It’s too rash to go in there! Stop!”
Gammon cried out to me from behind, but I ignored him and pushed on ahead.
--As I got closer to the mansion, I could feel the temperature around me rising.
When I reached the entrance the flames were almost touching my skin.
<…Hey hey, don’t do anything excessive, Nemesis>
The moment Mr. Ziz spoke, the fire suddenly parted around me.
“Woah…So a demon can do that too.”
<You won’t die even if you’re fried to a crisp, but it’ll still take a while for you to heal, and more importantly your clothes will burn off. You don’t want to reunite with your Papa naked and charred black, do you?>
“Thanks for your concern towards my being a lady.”
Then I stepped foot in the mansion. Unlike the outside, the fire had yet to really reach the interior of the house.
I could hear someone talking from further in.
I advanced in that direction.
.
From what I could glean from the doorway, this room was the study.
Inside a single man was sitting at a desk, talking to a doll clutched in his arms.
“—The bat’s gone now.”
“…”
“Don’t worry, Papa isn’t going anywhere.”
“…”
“I wonder what kind of place hell will be.”
“…”
Is this…
So this man was my father?
This man with such girlish interests as to talk to dolls?
…The doll he was holding looked familiar.
It was that doll Mr. Ziz had taken from the ocean. They must have handed it off to him after it was recovered by PN.
“Mr. Ziz—now that I think about it, there’s something I’ve always meant to ask you.”
<What is it?>
“Why you went to such lengths to collect that doll.”
<Because that is…another “Vessel of Deadly Sin”, like Grim the End>
“Then there is…a demon inside it after all.”
<--Maybe>
Then did that mean that the “Will of the Forest” I had spoken to—was the voice of a demon?
I emptied out the cylinder of my revolver.
And in place of the regular bullets, I loaded in the golden one from my ammo case.
<Oh, you’re finally using it! That’s good. If he has a Vessel of Deadly Sin then it’s most likely that Gallerian is himself a contractor>
While listening to Mr. Ziz speak, I entered the room—gun at the ready.
“Dark Star Bureau Director Gallerian Marlon.”
When I spoke to him he finally noticed me.
“And you are…Ah yes, you’re finally here. The one who will kill me.”
Gallerian stood from his chair, boldly smiling.
While still clutching the doll.
“You’re alone. What happened to the others? Did they not come inside?”
“…I’m perfectly able to kill you on my own.”
I aimed the gun at his forehead.
Despite that, his faint smile didn’t waver.
“That’s a good gun. It smells a bit like gunpowder smoke—and blood.”
“I’ve recently used it to kill someone. Tony Ausdin…Your friend.”
“I see. So you’re the one who killed Tony. And now you’re going to put me down with that gun—”
“It’s the gun you sent to me—‘Master’.”
When I said that name to him, finally Gallerian’s expression wavered.
“…That you know that form of address—Heheh, so that’s it. You’re—‘Number 8’.”
“Yes, exactly. Nice to meet you—Though we’ll soon be parting forever.”
“I don’t understand. You were my ally, so why are you threatening me now?”
“Because you…are evil. You’ve ruined so many people just to fill your own pockets. This gun that will soon shoot you is the face of everyone’s anger—Come, repent!”
The Dark Star Bureau—the organization that managed the USE’s judicial system.
Gallerian who was the director at its top had used his position to commit evil deeds, time and time again.
His goal was to accumulate money. As long as he received a bribe he would reduce the sentencing of any sort of villain, and conversely would charge those who went against his will with false crimes to bring them down.
That wasn’t all. He would also secretly erase those who might get in his way using assassins like I had once been.
And I guess he plays with dolls at home…
I couldn’t find with a single redeeming quality.
He didn’t deserve to live.
Even if—he was my father.
“…I have one thing I want to ask you. Why did you have me made into an assassin?”
“Hm? What do you mean?”
“Don’t try to bullshit me. I know that you run PN’s shadow organization—Pere Noel. The man Bruno always called ‘Master’…That is you, isn’t it?”
“You are correct on that. I am ‘Master’. I don’t mean to try to deceive you on that point now. But—the last member that I hired personally was ‘Number 7’, Eater.”
“…Huh?”
“To tell the truth, the only things I know about you are your codename of ‘Number 8’ and that you’re an assassin. Until just now, I mean. You were inducted as a member through Bruno’s discretion alone. He has always worked very well on my behalf, you see. I had no reason to object.  I was just grateful to him that he had obtained another asset for me.”
Gallerian hadn’t known anything?
Not even that I…was his daughter?
--So what if he didn’t. That didn’t change the fact that this man was a villain.
I didn’t come here out of a personal grudge. I was here as a mouthpiece for the world’s righteous fury.
I moved yet closer to Gallerian.
“…Select either path. Whether your brow will be shot through, or burned up in this hellfire.”
“Let me give you some advice as a judge. Don’t leave your choice of verdict up to the defendant. If you want to kill me, then you select the method yourself.”
If he had wailed and begged for his life I would have still shot him without hesitation.
But as I was growing irate at his arrogant behavior, at the same time I was beginning to have some unwelcome doubts.
Gallerian showed no sign of reflection. Even if he fell down to hell, he likely wouldn’t regret any of what he had done.
--Was I really satisfied with that?
Maybe I had wanted him to apologize to me.
For throwing away his own daughter. For making her unhappy.
But…Gallerian hadn’t known that “Number 8” was his daughter.
On the contrary, there was a possibility that he hadn’t even been told that my mother—Kayo Sudou, had given birth to a child at all.
I thought about asking him. About whether or not he knew about me…About the daughter named Nemesis.
…What would happen if I learned the answer?
We weren’t eating at some refined restaurant right now. This was a warzone, and I was pointing a gun at him.
Even if I went as his daughter in this situation—it wouldn’t gain either of us anything.
If he didn’t know, that was fine with me.
I would have Gallerian die without knowing of Nemesis.
I pulled back the firing hammer of my gun.
All I had left to do was pull the trigger.
But no matter how I tried I couldn’t carry out that last act.
<My my, are you hesitating at the last moment, Nemesis?> Mr. Ziz said mockingly, but I ignored him.
Yet even so he continued to speak to me.
<So then…How about this? You give him a chance for “atonement”>
Atonement?
<If he sincerely regrets his sins, then save his life>
He couldn’t seriously be suggesting that at this stage—
<Naturally, that comes with the condition that you do so right here. As long as you have my power, you will be able to slip through the flames with him. After that you should hand him over to Gammon. Even after everything’s said and done, the Tasan Party is a proper political organization. If Gallerian surrenders himself they aren’t likely to kill him then and there—the fact that they captured Bruno alive is proof enough of that>
“…”
<Whatever the case, Gallerian will be ruined…But if you want him to feel any remorse for his deeds, this option would probably be better than killing him>
In a sense, that suggestion was very appropriate for a demon to give.
It wasn’t based off of any benevolence, but rather a simple desire to see Gallerian suffer more.
But—perhaps it would be good to give him a chance, in order to make my decision.
“Gallerian—if you have any thoughts of repentance…Relinquish your fortune.”
“Oh?”
It wouldn’t be enough for him to just turn himself in. Even if the Tasan Party pardoned him, the world would most certainly still wish for his death.
In order to weaken the pressure of society against him even a little bit he would need to show some self-reflection with a tangible act.
“You stole a great deal of money and goods from people…If you promise to give it back, then I will spare your life at least.”
Gammon seemed to also want back the sword that had been stolen from him. Maybe if he learned it was in this mansion he would even move to stop it from burning down.
Gallerian had run away too readily from the Dark Star Bureau. His fortune probably wasn’t there.
Then the only other place I could think of—was his home.
“You would…spare my life?”
“Yes, Gallerian. You must have something you’ve still yet to do. If you live then maybe you’ll be able to obtain the chance to achieve it. If you die then that’s it for you!”
I tried to persuade Gallerian now in much the same way as Mr. Ziz and Gammon had done for me.
In response to their arguments, I had chosen to live.
Even Gallerian would surely—
“…My fortune—”
Yes, as long as you let it go, I will save you.
“—I won’t ever hand it over to the likes of you!” he…replied without a trace of doubt on his face.
“Everything…All of it, it’s mine! Why would I need to give anyone what I worked so hard to obtain? You lot…don’t even know why I gathered all of it in the first place!”
“…”
“And let me say up front, my fortunate isn’t even in this mansion! My precious money and items, they’re all hidden somewhere else! Somewhere you’ll never find! And if living means giving it to others, then let it sleep there for all eternity!”
“…You’re trash that can’t be helped.”
I had known it well. This man had no notion of “atonement”.
Even if he were to survive and go to prison, he would go the rest of his days without renouncing his acts.
So it’s as I thought—I had to end him here, by my own hands.
I thrust the muzzle of my gun at Gallerian’s forehead.
“Let mine and the people’s hatred wash over your body…and then sleep.”
“Oh? So, it seems you’ve chosen to kill me with the gun. …If you’re going to do it, then hurry up. You’re scaring my daughter.”
“—Your daughter?”
“Can you not see her? She’s right here.”
He looked at the doll that he was carrying.
“It’s alright, don’t be afraid.”
He patted the doll’s head.
“This young lady here only has business with your Papa. You have nothing to worry about.”
Gallerian spoke to the doll with kind eyes that he had most certainly never directed at me.
.
Could he honestly think this doll was his daughter--?
Did he think it was me?
Then…he really did know about me.
He'd thought I died.
And then went insa--
.
"--Don't worry, it'll be over soon…Michelle."
.
…Heh.
……Ha ha ha.
That's right.
Of course not.
Gallerian had had a daughter with his proper wife.
Her name was Michelle.
She--had been aboard the ship that I sank.
She was already gone.
.
…And yet.
You don't look at me.
Just at the doll.
You just keep looking at that dead girl.
Even though--I'm still alive, right here.
.
Hey, Father.
Look at me.
.
Look at me too.
.
--With this it's truly over.
Let's make everything end.
At some point Gallerian had quit speaking to the doll, and was gazing at my face in utter stillness.
In his eyes there was neither the affection he had directed at the doll.
Nor any fear of death.
Nor anger at me.
There was none of that.
Merely—the empty eyes of a madman.
.
"--Farewell."
You sinful “evil”.
My father.
.
I pulled the heavy trigger.
And then—the golden bullet was fired from the muzzle.
.
Ordinarily this would kill instantly, with no time for words.
But as he collapsed backwards--
He murmured in the end:
"I'm fine with this…Thank you--Nemesis."
.
………Huh?

Lightning Strikes
They knew it had been a bad idea to go into the TV that day. But Kanji needed training, and it was the only time everyone was free. When the team had first arrived, Teddie said he had sensed something in the Bathhouse. Souji had originally planned on going back to the Castle, but decided just to go there instead. That was the first mistake.
The second was leaving Yukiko at the entrance with Teddie. Forgetting he had fused away his persona with healing skills on the last trip, Souji thought they wouldn’t need her. He was supposed to restock their health items before coming. The only one with a healing spell was Yosuke, and his energy was quickly being depleted. They should've gone back the second he ran out.
The final mistake was not running at the first sound of chains. They had just finished fighting a hard battle, when Kanji spotted a chest. Souji knew he heard the rattles, the fog had thickened around them, but went to get the chest anyway. By the time they had finished grabbing it, they were cornered.
So that’s how they got here. Igor had warned him never to spend too long on a floor, lest he meet death himself.
Everyone was exhausted, and low on health. Chie and Kanji were desperately trying to fend the Reaper off, while Yosuke used what little magic he had left to replenish their life. Souji was digging through his bag, trying to find something, anything, that would help them. Minutes passed, and they were all growing more tired by the second. They weren’t going to be able to last much longer, and Souji knew that. He just needed to find something.
“Sensei! Be careful, you’re low on health!”
Teddie’s voice echoed through their heads.
Suddenly, Yosuke was hit with a massive bolt of lightning. He crumpled into a heap on the floor. Still breathing, he wasn't quite dead yet. But he was on the brink of death. Frantically, Souji reached in his bag one more time, and finally, finally, found what he was looking for. The last vanish ball. Running to Yosuke, Souji threw it on the ground, yelling for everyone to head to the stairs. Hoisting his boyfriend on to his shoulders, he made a mad dash for the stairway.  Somehow they all managed to get back to the entrance in one piece.
Yosuke’s heart rate had been quickly decreasing, inching closer and closer to death. Yukiko rushed to him first, casting healing spell after healing spell. The whole time, Souji never left his side.
It felt like forever, waiting for Yosuke to open his eyes again. For Souji, his whole world had stopped when he saw him lying on the ground, unmoving. If he hadn’t found that vanish ball, Yosuke would be-
No, he shouldn’t think about that. Yosuke wasn’t dead, and Souji would never let him die. Not on his watch.
Yosuke coughed. Snapping back to reality, Souji saw Yosuke coughing into his arm, attempting to open his eyes.
 “Oh thank god! You’re okay!”
Souji cradled him in his arms, tears dripping down his cheeks.
“Don’t ever scare me like that again!”
Yosuke chuckled shakily, smiling up at him.
“I was so scared! When you fell down that- that was horrible! Don't ever do that again! You dumbass idiot!"
He began sobbing into Yosuke's shoulder. Souji could feel the gentle thumps of Yosuke’s heart in his chest, and his warmth, giving him the proof he needed to confirm he really was alive.
“S-sorry partner. Guess I r-really am just a dumbass. Heh.”
Wrapping his arms around Souji, he slowly sat up.
“We should get out of here though, partner. It’s not safe.”
Souji just burrowed himself deeper into Yosuke’s hold.
Patting him gently on the back, Yosuke began, “Seriously. It’s not sa-”
 “I love you.”
Pressing his lips gently to Yosuke’s, Souji pushed his hands into his hair. The kiss was salty and warm, but oddly perfect. When they broke apart, Souji had finally stopped crying.
“I love you too Souji, but we really need to get out of here.”
Wordlessly, Yosuke was lifted off the ground, straight into Souji’s arms.
“W-woah there partner! I can walk just fine!”
Souji only gripped him tighter. Understanding he’d be fighting a losing battle if he tried to fight him on this, Yosuke leaned into his body.
The walk back to the portal was awful. Everyone was exhausted, and in pain. Yukiko had done her best to heal them all, but even she could only do so much. They said goodbye to Teddie before heading through, but even that took tremendous effort. Souji had set him back down when they arrived in the electronics department.
After the group had split up outside of Junes, it was only Yosuke and Souji left. Yosuke could still sense the distress radiating from Souji, even if he was trying his best to hide it. A frown had been etched on to his face, discomfort showing in his eyes.
Slipping his hand into the palm of Souji’s, he tugged him in the direction of the Dojima household.
Walking slowly, they made their way to the house. Yosuke kept a tight hold on Souji’s hand the whole time. He could tell Souji didn’t want to be left alone after today’s trip. The home was empty when they got there, but they ignored it in favor of going up to Souji’s room.
Souji was still slightly panicked, and Yosuke could tell.
 “Partner? Are you alright?”
Staring into the distance, tears began flowing down Souji’s cheeks once again.
“W-why didn’t you heal yourself? Yosuke, you could’ve died!”
Yosuke moved towards him, looping his arms around Souji’s back, and resting his head on his shoulder. He lifted one of Souji’s arms up to his neck, pressing his fingers to the side of it.
“But I didn’t, see? You made sure of that.”
Souji just squeezed himself around Yosuke, moving his hands on to his back. But when he touched it, Souji could feel raised lines underneath his shirt.
“Yosuke. Could you take off your shirt?”
“Hm? That’s a little forward there partner, isn’t it?”
That comment earned him a smack on the head.
“Not like that you idiot! I just felt something weird!”
“Uh huh. Whatever you say, partner.”
Nevertheless, Yosuke turned around to take off his shirt anyway. That’s when Souji saw it. All across his back was a large lightning shaped scar. Souji gasped. It was simultaneously the most beautiful, and most horrific sight he’d ever seen.
“What is it? See something you like?”
“Yes! I MEAN uh… just, go look in a mirror!”
Yosuke walked downstairs to the bathroom, stopping in front of the mirror, flipping around so he could see his back.
 “Holy shit!”
 “Now you see.”
They walked back up to Souji’s room together, discussing what to do if Yosuke’s parents ever saw the scar.
“I can’t just tell them I got struck by lightning! They would never believe me!”
Souji put his face in his hands.
“Just… cross that bridge when you get there? Try not to let them see you shirtless for a while, I guess.”
“God, I’m too tired for this.”
That piqued Souji’s interest. He looked up a Yosuke, who was putting his shirt back on.
 “Nap?”
Walking over to Souji’s couch and lying down, Yosuke motioned for Souji to join him.
Souji flopped gracefully on top of Yosuke, resting his head on Yosuke's chest, and intertwining their legs.
The last thing he felt before falling asleep, was Yosuke mumbling something, and the feeling of lips pressed against his forehead.

Thank you for the answer about PiperxCole. I agree that Piper would never become the Queen of the Underworld. It’s a shame because I’d like to see her evil queen outfit :) Anyway do you have any ideas about PaigexCoop? What about their children's powers?
i think paige and coop would like be sown in late s7 when paige is still really torn up about the death of kyle and has become disillusioned with life as a whole and coop come down like hi don’t give up on love things can still work out!!! and paige is just like bro i don’t really want to have to go through the labor again it’s only gonna end badly like it always does and coop’s all like no! love always win! things will work out! uhh and then the charmed ones die. and they’re having a funeral and paige is like this is bullshit i have no friends no one’s at my memorial and piper’s like no? there’s someone there right now? and paige looks and it’s coop and they make eye contact and he winks. and paige is like dude please you cannot go exposing us to the magical community please like bro we’re retired we’re done witching and coop’s like i know! that’s why i’m here! what better way to spend your retirement than finding your soulmate? and paige is like dude are fucking fucking kidding me and coop’s like no i’ve already created a shortlist. and then replace the conversation paige has with grams with coop as he’s all like go out! try the world on for size! and when that guy approaches her in the cafe as she’s leaving she’s all like ehh but then she sees coop and remembers why she’s out and is like fuck it i’ll give it a shot. but the issue remains that her witchlighter life won’t leave any room for her romantic one and paige keeps turning down the guys coop lines up and coops like Okay What Is Up Like What Do You Want A Man I Feel Like These Have All Been Good Candidates So I Need You Just To Tell Me What You’re Looking For and paige is like i don’t know i want someone who’s funny, and warm, and adventurous, someone who cares, not just about me, but like, about everyone. someone who’s good, and honest, and not married. i want... someone who see the real me. and with that closing sentence paige realizes exactly who she’s describing and finds some quick excuse to orb out of the room.
but the thing is you can’t really hide love from a cupid. and technically, paige is still “dead” or whatever. so the elders don’t really have jurisdiction. so coop’s like i really like you, and i’d be willing to go for this if you are. and paige is like alright. let’s do this thing. and they officially date for like 8 days before the sisters decide to return to their charmed lives. and paige is like look i’m about to come out as Not Dead and the world’s gonna know the charmed ones are still alive and that’s about to make this relationship much more dangerous, both demonically and from the heavens, so if you want to leave, the door’s there and it won’t hurt my feelings. i’m just grateful for the time we had together. and coop’s like i love you and i’m not going anywhere (which is really what paige needed to hear) and the elders are all like Woah Woah Woah What The Fuck Is This?? No???? NOT ALLOWED?????? so paige orbs up to the heavens and is all like Listen Up Motherfuckers! You Wanna Know What I’ve Done Because I’ll Tell You What I’ve Done: I’ve killed the Source, not once, but twice! I saved the world and the elders from complete annihilation at the hands of the titans - you’re welcome. I got rid of the avatars; I stopped Zankou. You’re Fucking Welcome. You’re All Fucking Welcome To Butt Out Of My Relationship Because After Sacrificing Again and Again and Again and Again to Save The Goddamn World, I Have Finally Found Something That Makes Me Happy. So No, You’re Not Gonna Do A Goddamn Thing About It. Eat Shit. and she flips the double bird and orbs back down and coops like oh my god how’d it go is everything okay? and paige is like yeah they were actually really supportive : )
as far as their kids, i mean you know it’s gonna be fun because it’s past hybrid we’re in like tribrid territory now. i don’t think they’d split piper’s powers like tam & kat do, but if i had to make a paige/coop power of three i would have the eldest me very much a cupid with the powers of beaming and temporal manipulation. the middle child would be an empath with healing powers, and the third would be and orbing telekinetic, which keeps mostly in theme with the original power of three

What Lurks In The Dark // Alec Lightwood X OC
Disclaimer - One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six
Chapter Seven - Awake
Simon and Jace stumbled forward, Alec shouting for help and Isabelle ran off to find a medic. I was at the point of gasping for air and my head pounded like nothing I'd ever felt before, pleading for oxygen.
"Over here! Put her over here!" A voice I didn't recognise - or couldn't identify in my state - called. I felt myself being dragged forward before being laid down on a cold table. I felt hands pressing different areas of my chest while a new wave of blood sprayed from my mouth.
"She has a punctured lung caused by on of four broken ribs, her lungs are flooded, possible skull fracture and internal bleeding. We need to operate before her healing runes can be used effectively - now!" The world seemed to move around me and faces jumped in and out of my vision as the table I was on was wheeled down the corridor. Jace, Clary, Isabelle, Alec, Simon, Clary, Isabelle, Jace, Simon, Alec. Everybody was talking to me, but I could no longer hear the words coming from their moving mouths. The last thing I saw was the bright white ceiling of the operating room before everything fell into darkness.
I could feel weight on one side of the bed I was in. Realising someone was holding my hand and I felt my fingers twitch.
"Bre? Breeanna? Can you hear me?" I squeezed the hand that I was holding to tell them yes.
"Come on, come on open your eyes." At first the light was so overwhelming to my senses that I couldn't make out anything. After blinking a few times, I could distinguish colours and shapes and I realised that there was a head of blonde hair, looking down at me.
"Jace?" My voice came out cracked and my words were slurred but the head started to nod and after a few more seconds of blurry vision, Jace's face became clear.
"What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you to wake up obviously," He rolled his eyes, but I could see his smile was gentle and he was genuinely worried.
"Dude what happened?" I asked, trying to wiggle my way up. Jace helped me into a sitting position before he replied.
"You saved Alec's life," He whispered,
"And nearly died."
"Is Alec okay?" I asked, looking down at my hands. Jace let out a strained laugh,
"I tell you that you nearly just died and you're asking if he's okay? My God." He looked down at me realising I was still looking at him expectantly and he cleared his throat,
"Yes, he's okay," He assured me.
"And Clary? Isabelle? What about Simon? Is he okay?"
"Yes- yes- they're all fine calm down," Jace said, holding his hands up.
"And you?" he nodded again. I let out a sigh and fell back against my pillows, remembering what I had been meaning to talk to him about.
"I know that my mom was part of the Circle, and I know they killed your father, and I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry for that." He offered me a small smile and squeezed my hand,
"You really are something else you know that?" he chuckled. putting a more serious look on he said,
"You had me so worried, I thought we were going to lose you."
"Why? Don't you care that I'm the daughter of the enemy?" I asked half-heartedly.
"Not at all, Bre you're my little sister now." I grinned,
"Yeah because you love Clary," I teased. He snorted, but looked me in the eye again,
"and if you're talking about Alec... he doesn't really think that. He was really worried-”
“Because he feels guilty is all, he would rather be rid of me and Clary," I mumbled. Jace sighed,
"That's not true Bre, you should have seen him, he was a wreck." I couldn't bring myself to believe him and so just shook my head, finding arguing futile.
"Just... all that matters is that everyone is okay, you're sure that you’re not sugar-coating anything? Izzy, my sister, Simon," Jace was nodding along,
"...Alec? They're really okay?"
"I'm okay." I snapped my head to the direction of the voice so fast that I may as well have given myself whiplash. Alec was leaning against my doorframe, arms folded. He gestured forward,
"Can I come in?" I shrugged, and he took it as a yes, walking over to me. Jace shot me a look that said he cares, be nice, before getting up, allowing Alec to take his place on my bed. Jace walked out the door and the room fell silent for a few seconds. I tried to avoid Alec's gaze, but it was very difficult.
"Breeanna, I'm so sorry," Alec's voice cracked a little and I made eye contact with him for the first time since I'd snapped at him in the tunnel.
"I never meant for any of this," he waved his hand over my body,
"to happen."
"If you're only here because you feel guilty, then you can go," I said quietly, looking down at my fidgeting hands. Alec placed a hand over both of mine, bringing my attention back up to him.
"Of course, I feel guilty, you almost lost your life trying to save mine. After everything I said about you, accused you of, I know you overheard Jace and I talking, even then, you still risked yourself for me. Breeanna, when I thought you were going to die, I didn't think I would be able to live with myself, knowing what you did in spite of the way I treated you. Of course, I don't think you're working with Valentine, you couldn't possibly be. I'm so, so sorry," Alec sounded so genuine. Hesitantly, he wrapped his hand around mine, taking hold of it. I let him.
"It's okay," I whispered, my voice still scratchy.
"No, it's not," he replied, hanging his head with shame,
"But still, I'm sorry."
"Alec." He didn't look up.
"Hey," I brought his hand up, wrapping both my small ones around it, holding it to my chest. Alec looked up, into my eyes and I whispered,
"I forgive you, but you need to forgive yourself too. You were just protecting your family and I can't hold that against you. I'll be fine, so you can't dwell on this." Alec looked as if he didn't know whether to smile or cry.
"What did we do to deserve someone like you, Breeanna?" He gently pulled me forward into a tight hug, and I sighed into his shoulder, rubbing his back,
"What are we going to do with ourselves hey?"
"Alec, Jace told me to come and get you, he thinks he has a lead on the Mortal Cup," Isabelle raced into the room. Alec slowly pulled away from me and looked at Isabelle who now wore wide eyes and an apologetic look. Alec looked back at me and I nodded indicating that he should go. He quietly whispered,
"Thank you," kissed the top of my head and left, with a very confused Isabelle following. I decided that I couldn't lie around in bed all day and so I got dressed into some fresh clothes and shakily made my way downstairs. I was certainly feeling better; I was just a little sore - as was expected after nearly dying and all. I caught Clary and Simon on the stairs down to the op centre.
"...Can't keep me prisoner here," Simon was saying.
"Prisoner? Wait, what Simon! Where are you going?" Clary grabbed his arm.
"I'm going home, Clary, and if you haven't already completely drunk their Kool-Aid, then you're coming with me," Simon replied.
"You know I can't," Clary said.
"Yes, you can, it's not safe here," he insisted. Jace stepped out of the elevator in the entrance hall and blocked the doorway with his arms crossed.
"In fact, this is the safest place she could possibly be." Simon was having none of it though, pointing a finger at Jace,
"You don't get to talk to me, Captain America."
"Considering I'm the guy with the weapons, I pretty much get to say what I want."
"Okay, come at me, bro!" Simon took a step towards him.
"Oh, yeah?" Jace snorted.
"Yeah!" Simon made for Jace, but Clary got in front of him, pushing him back.
"Hey, what is your problem?" She demanded.
"He's my problem!" He pointed at Jace again,
"He's just like Kirk Duplesse from high school. Do you remember him? Total jerk with the square jaw, smelled like body spray, always bullying people." He looked at Jace over Clary's shoulder and shouted,
"Why don't you do your own homework? Just once, yeah?" Then to Clary he added through gritted teeth,
"I can take care of myself." Simon walked around both Clary and Jace, heading straight for the door. Clary turned to look expectantly at Jace who furrowed his eyebrows,
"I'm not saving his ass a second time." Clary ran after Simon, and Jace caught sight of me on the stairs. He jogged over,
"Woah there, you should be in bed." I waved him off,
"I'm fine, operated on and rune-healed. Isabelle said you have a lead on the Mortal Cup?" Jace nodded and walked me over to a table in front of one of many large screens. Alec and Isabelle were already there, and Alec raised an eyebrow at me as if asking whether I should be out of bed, and I just shrugged in return, offering a sheepish grin. Clary joined us with a disheartened look on her face,
"Simon's gone."
"But Bre is back, she's fine by the way," Alec snapped, Clary look startled and looked to me to defend her, but I shrugged again and turned to the screen.
"So, Magnus Bane?" I asked. Hodge started the run down, flicking through some pictures on the screen,
"He's over 300 years old and, as you can see, he's not exactly shied away from the pleasures of every century. His tastes are both exquisite and quite excessive. Now, Magnus is one of the most powerful warlocks I've ever known. He has a deep mistrust of Shadowhunters."
"Well, then why did he help my mom remove my memories? Isn't she a Shadowhunter?" Clary asked.
"Bree’s memories too," Jace added, giving Clary a pointed look.
"Yes, one of the best - but help might not be the most accurate word," Hodge answered.
"Now, did Magnus provide a service for Jocelyn? Perhaps. But more than likely, your mother paid Magnus handsomely for his magic." Jace added,
"Warlocks usually require payment before they help anyone with anything."
"Word from the Clave is that most of the warlocks have gone into hiding since Valentine began hunting them," Alec informed the group.
"Valentine must be searching for the warlock, who aided Jocelyn-" Hodge seemed to choke and inhaled deeply through the pain of his burning rune.
"So how do we find Magnus?" Clary asked, ignoring the man in pain in front of her.
“Hodge!” I placed a hand on his arm, silently asking if he was ok.
"We don't. Magnus finds us. We'll set up a meeting, somewhere protected. Lure him out of hiding," Jace replied while I continued to rub Hodge's arm. He shot me a grateful smile just as Isabelle added to Jace's response with a smirk.
"And I know exactly where we do it."

Miraculous Ladybug 2x13
Lets comment this again. So i’m starting a little late in the episode cuz I dont want to fake it, and I just remembered to do it, so lets go:
1:57 Someone hug Chloe!
1:59 Ok, the animation? Fucking awesome so far. Like something about Chloe looks so . . . perfect. This is good animation.
2:06 Chloe’s voice sounds different. Like she finally hit puberty. Also, wtf? Buy a second heart?
2:13 Also, Chloe’s back and in the spotlight, so what this hoe gonna do to akumatize another civilian? Also where was she? Sick? It was like 3 episodes. Betcha Gabriel went to the hospital and healed her with his bear hands. “I need you. There’s less angry people in the world, since you’ve been gone.”
2:17 Prediction: Chloe will steal Marinette’s gift, Marinette will throw a tantrum, no one will believe- everyone saw the gift. . . . or maybe chloe will throw it away.
2:34 I was right. But this bitch does know that everyone saw marinette bring this gift right? What does she expect? Everyone will forget?
2:59 Miss Bustier is Lily Evans.
3:00 How will she get mad?
3:14 . . . Not what I expected. Also, Bitch, if you want to get away with it don’t fucking smirk! This is why I can’t like Chloe. She’s not even a good nemesis. And bad people who smirk when they are caught because they know they will get away with it are the worst things to exist. FIGHT ME ON THIS.
3:21 EVERYONE’S VOICES SOUND LIKE THEY ALL HIT PUBERTY except Max and Adrien.
3:33 Yo, what drugs does she take cuz I want them. I need to be as happy as this psycho.
3:40 .... The entire class became the fandom. We’ve all said those things at one point, and Astruc is now fucking with us by pointing them out on his show.
3:47 I never considered that there are like 12 students in that class. That’s small.
4:04 I love every single time Astruc hints at akumatizing Marinette. Is like ‘haha, never gonna happen, but here’s a tease’. Also, whenever Mari gets angry like that she gets a shadow of her mask on her face. Watch the intro, after Chloe pushes her.
4:14 Predictions(again) Butterfly will get on its way to marinette, happy go lucky teacher will calm her down, butterfly will get confused. Still not sure how Discount Lily Evans gets akumatized.
4:54 Bustier saw the akuma, and desperately try to happy-up marinette.
4:54
Akuma: Here I go-
Marinette: *I’m not in trouble...*
Akuma: fuuuuuuuuuckkkkkk, wheeerrreee dooo I goooo noooww?
5:09
Akuma: I hate my job. Dude, just look for another person.
Hakwmoth: NO! This bitch has evaded me for far too long. Stay put!
Akuma: Ugh, I should have quit when I had the chance.
5:34 I’m so glad we finally get that scene of someone aware of those butterflies and freaking out about it. But sad that Discount Lily Evans doesn’t understand that by touching them you get akumatized.
5:52 YO! this show is getting serious with it’s story! I love this! An actual civilian fighting back! Finally! Dept! after the last childish episode this one is soooooo pleasing!
6:17 So my theory on my fanfic is becoming true. Hawkmoth can see into their mind and sweet talk just about anyone to do his biddings, no matter how nice you are. I feel smart.
6:25 From Marinette/Ladybug’s point of view, that had to be hard to watch. I was not prepared for feelings in this episode.
6:44 One swipe both lips? Damn! That lipstick IS magic!
7:27
Zombizou: And feel the love!
Chloe: Ew.
That’s good comedy right there. Because Chloe is all of us here in tumblr.
7:49 Thank God for the suit, because otherwise Marinette would have a broken neck, or a really bruised back and be unable to walk.
8:13 This got gay really quick.... can’t wait for it to get gayer.
8:27 I swear I read a fanfiction just like this. It ended with Ladybug and Chat Noir fucking.... Now I’m going to watch the pg version of it. Ugh. Or maybe this one will end with an orgy....
8:39 No Adrien, you can’t look back like you just lost a soldier in battle! They are just hugging and kissing! This is the sweetest and mellowest episode yet! You’ve been jokier and sillier through worse akumas!
9:38 Ok, it was bad definition. . . but I swear I saw Adrien in the kiss spell running to Ladybug.
9:53 They are saying ‘Kisses Kissu’ ... isn’t Kissu how Japanese/Korean people saying Kiss?
10:08 I’ve been waiting for this moment for too long. This is quickly becoming my most favorite episode.
10:30 I know why he did it, but what if he was also hoping to sneak one to Ladybug? Hahaha, funny Adrien.
10:50 Plagg and I share a brain.
11:14 .... So I CAN make the joke about french kissing! Thank you Astruc for dropping the steryotypes first!
11:51 this is getting close to becoming my fanfiction... I WROTE IT FIRST! (kinda, this episode was written a while ago)
12:03 . . . Bitch WANTS to get thrown to the hordes. Why else would she say shit like that.
12:18 Even Marinette sounds like she hit puberty. Can’t wait for Adrien to hit it too.
13:23 Don’t lie. You weren’t even trying to catch her with your arms spread like that.
13:47 ok no. Fuck this, no. Chloe is a brick and these fuckers are letting themselves drown with her. Rule number one of being a hero: The Needs of Many Overpower The Needs of One. Drop Chloe.
14:04 Woah . . .. Adrien’s voice just dropped.
14:28 Nevermind.
14:40 . . . Maze runner? Walking dead? iZOmbie? Every zombie movie cliche ever? ROSE? Why is it some get turned immediatly and Ladybug had a conversation with Kim before he turned?
15:04 What should happen: Alya and Nino, powercouple ftw, grab Chloe, look at Ladybug and Chat Noir straight in the eyes, and just throw her towards Rose. What will happen: bitch will probably be the only one besides Ladybug to not get turned cuz Chat tends to fall for these a lot.
15:52 Oh the romance! Yes! More Nilya! Make it like Titanic:
Nino: I’ll never let go Alya, I’ll never let go!
Alya: For the love of god Nino, just go, I ain’t dying.
Nino: *whispers really close to her face* I’ll never let go!
16:08 . . . These are just kisses right? Why they acting like they gonna die if they stay like zombies for more than an hour? It aint fatal!
16:14 THROW HER OUT!
16:19 I’m so glad Nilya is here, cause waiting for Ladynoir or Adrienette is killing me and Nilya is my life support.
16:24
Nino: Lets make out babe!
Alya: Kissu!
Nino: YES!
16:49 Predictable: Chat Noir gets taken. Unpredictable: Ladybug acting like her boyfriend was taken. just partners huh?
16:55
Ladybug: Chat! I’ll save you!
Chat: I’ll just stay here Ladybug, if we are gonna end up kissing, I’d rather it be after you save us.
Ladybug: ... This . .. this isn’t the right time to flirt Chat. Why do you always do this?
17:23 ... Dark Owl had her earring almost off and this is the closest you’ve gotten, Hawkmoth? How do YOU measure it?
17:40 His voice dropped again. the actor should stop highpithing his voice and let Adrien hit puberty too. #LetAdrienHitPuberty2k18
17:43 WHAT WAS SHE EXPECTING?
17:56 This revelation will last till the end of the battle then she’ll be a bitch again. Change my mind.
17:59 I hope they keep making more animations of Chat with weird faces like that. We need them for the memes.
18:01 Ok, fine. 5 points to Chloe. But she’s on -6,458,827,247 so she’s got a long way to go.
18:04 -6,458,827,227
18:36 LIPSTICKS ARE EXPENSIVE LADYBUG!
18:58 So by these standards Nino and Alya should be getting it on downstairs, right?
19:24 They didn’t show us Nilya... they are Getting. It. On. Also, #TellUsWhatHappenedToEmilieAgreste2k18
19:53 Hasn’t said anything but “No.” yet, but .... -6,458,827,200
20:17 -6,458,826,000
20:24 -6,458,826,200
20:37 that number is long to write, just add a -500 more for me being right that she would revert to Bitch Chloe when this was over.
21:29 ... What happened between Nino and Alya?
--
OK, call me Cinema Sins cause that’s basically what I’m doing. Overall, I love this episode. It had the beauty of a fanfiction. Thomas Astruc and his team are reading fanfics #confirmed. But yeah, they had to soften Chloe at one point to turn her into Queen Bee. And Marinette will most likely do it, so she had to see it. There.

May 20: 2x19 A Private Little War
Yet again, I feel like it is Friday. It’s not!!
Today’s ep is... unusual. I always think of it as weird because it’s not as optimistic as most TOS episodes; it’s not even a little bittersweet, more like downright bleak. I remember the first time I watched it, thinking, ‘....oh? that’s it then? no solution? we’re just gonna up and leave?’
Appropriate for a very obvious Vietnam allegory, especially one airing in 1967, but still... this is utopian science fiction! Show me people doing better!
It’s not even a complaint because I do think it was very gutsy to air an ep like this and I appreciate that they went there, so to speak.
But tbh it also felt different in other ways, too. It’s hard to put my finger on it... maybe because there wasn’t much sci fi (other than.. everyone being aliens). Maybe it was the extensive amount of time spent on new characters, and how little time was spent on the Enterprise or with most of the crew. Maybe it was the witch.
Anyway, some specific thoughts:
Oh, the brash young Lt. Kirk...exploring a planet for the first time.
Tyree? His “old friend”? Could that be an ex-boyfriend? I’m going to read it that way, just for fun.
Oh, no, Spock!
Twice in five minutes, Kirk was going to just straight up ignore the “don’t interfere, don’t use your weapons” policy--and it was his policy! But in his defense, someone was about to kill his ex-boyfriend, and then someone tried to kill his space husband, so he had his reasons.
M’Benga!!
How is he supposed to concentrate on the Klingons when Spock is hurt?
Thirteen years ago... okay, just gonna do some math--he was 21. That’s a little young for a lieutenant.
Uhura knows her history.
“Old style hand laser.” When do I get one of those?
Everyone’s really ganging up on Kirk here. Rude. Don’t they know his Spock is in the hospital?
So he’s like “screw this, gonna go see Spock now.”
No replacement Vulcan organs on hand? That’s too bad; gonna have to rely on Vulcan self-healing to just like... grow some new ones I guess.
Kirk needs his BFF down on the planet with him.
“Native costumes.”
Kirk is very troubled today, I think. “I’m just going to disobey direct orders so I can see my ex.”
He’s so idealistic, too... Maybe a little naive, but he is like that. He just sees this beautiful planet where the people are peaceful, and maybe it’s a little bit of a Pastoral Fantasy and there’s a bit of paternalism in it but... he’s not entirely wrong. No one should interfere and maybe they are just... better than humans. Like young Jim Kirk found these people and fell in with them as a whole and probably one in particular and I think that’s nice.
Omg fuzzy animal!
“Bones vaporized a native specimen.” That’s one way to put it, mom.
Those wigs are truly terrible.
Bones has nice arms.
They are not carrying Kirk particularly carefully here... just kinda letting his head loll around there
Oh no Tyree’s wife! Sorry, Jim.
“They are compassionate and gentle.”
Aw, gotta keep Jim all nice and warm and snuggly.
Honestly, I love her outfit.
She cast a spell to make him fall in love with her. Well, that’s an explanation.
“It brought up evil beasts from my soul.” Hot.
She immediately knows who “the friend from long ago” is lol. Must have told a lot of stories about Jim. His friend. His special friend. The “friend” of his younger days.
“He was made my brother.” The no-homo short cut for explaining an inexplicably strong male bond.
“Self-induced hypnosis, you say? You mean he’s conscious? He noticed me fondling his hand?”
...Is that a rat king? Oh, no, just a moving root.
McCoy’s like “I gotta learn how to do this.”
Tyree looks like Jeremy Renner in a bad wig.
JAMES??? JAMES YOU SAY? Has literally anyone ever called him James? Tyree’s own little special name for him? I was half-joking about the ex-bf thing but now I’m kinda serious.
Kirk is such a nerd. He just jumps at the opportunity to give a little presentation about the witch people.
Another Homoerotic Thing is the obligatory Female Character who’s now been sexually linked to both of them, providing a sort of bridge of association between the Very Straight Men.
“You will let him die when you have weapons to make him powerful and safe?” She has a good point.
“That’s what’s bothering me: the something we may have to do.”
Bones’s Southern accent really comes out on “killing is stupid and useless”
Scotty is so confused by all this hitting and madness! In his defense, it is straight up weird. Can you imagine Vulcans just, like, hitting each other? In the hospital?
In case you weren’t aware, these references to “20th century wars in Asia” should alert you to the Allegorical Nature of the Narrative.
This is all so sad. I don’t even really have commentary past that, it’s just... they’re both right, and there aren’t good answers. Other than I guess, expelling the Klingons. But even then the damage would probably be done. And Bones is just so good and so pure-hearted. Kirk is too but he’s also practical. And perhaps influenced by magic? I find that rather unnecessary to explaining his thought process here. He’s already gone rogue and in a sense, he’s in over his head. And he already has an inherent motivation to protect his friend.
Ah ha, Jim’s romantic music is playing. I don’t entirely get this scene outside of having an obligatory Jim Kiss scene lol. And to show how good Tyree is. And perhaps how mercenary Nona is?
I must say, I love this animal!
And I love Tyree. He doesn’t want to use weapons; he doesn’t want to fight; he doesn’t want to kill; and he won’t kill even when he sees Nona with another man.
The moment Jim took the rock from Tyree... so charged...
Flintlocks? Serpents? Really time to confuse Scotty now.
So it really does end with “Well that’s just how it is and how it has to be bye now.”
Another weird thing is that this is all tied to the Klingons, like they essentially started it, but we don’t really know what happens to them. Like, they broke the treaty, and Kirk and Bones have proof of that. Will this cause a much greater Diplomatic Incident? Will they continue arming the villagers, forcing the Federation to continue arming the hill people? To some degree, this doesn’t really matter--this ep isn’t about the Star Trek Extended Universe, it’s about breaking down the situation in Vietnam through the use of metaphor, but still. Questions are raised.
I think this is quite an ambitious episode, and even though I think in general it feels...unusual, I tentatively think the level of ambition is on par with S1.
I had mixed feelings about Nona. I loved her whole aesthetic and her witchy woman vibes and I do enjoy a Strong Female Villain. I think she was interesting in that she wasn’t really on either side--I got the impression that the witches were neither villagers nor hill people, and she really didn’t seem to have allegiance to anyone but herself. She wasn’t faithful to Tyree and she wanted to give the phaser to the villagers at the end, I suspect for the exact reason she said: she considered their leader to be the stronger one. She was also a necessary story element in a way, because the villagers were being egged on by the Klingons, but the hill people weren’t really egged on by anyone. Furthermore, I thought it was notable that, despite her power both literal and narrative, she was still subject to disrespect and sexual assault by the village men, which I didn’t see as punishment but more like... a commentary on gender, in a way.
All that being said... the Bad Woman made me do it is a little... not sure how I feel about THAT lol.
This was a very interesting Kirk and Bones episode. It really showed them both off well, and their friendship. And of course we see a lot of Kirk here: his history, his idealism, his optimism, but also how he is more pragmatic than Bones, and used to being the Captain that makes hard decisions, without even Starfleet backup.
Nice to see Bones showing off his bad ass side too.
So here’s the real question: is Tyree pre-Gary Mitchell, or from one of their “off” periods in the on-and-off relationship? Mom and I have decided he’s pre-Gary and I think that’s right. The 13-years-ago clue is a better one than the lieutenant clue, but if Kirk really was 21, he was way too young to have known Gary yet. Also I really do think he was at his most naive and impressionable pre-Gary.
Woah it is too late and I am TIRED.
Next is Return to Tomorrow, which is one of my FAVE eps. A really sleeper classic imo.

Fairy Tail Chapter 536
Strap yourselves in this chapter was really good with some more feels. Holy shit guys this chapter was legit like what the hell. I can only try to describe how I feel right now so lets get into the review. The chapter starts off with Natsu and Zeref punching each other with everything they got. Lol switch it to Naruto and Sasuke am I right?
Tumblr media
The poor guild is definitely destroyed now.
Tumblr media
Mavis is waking up yes!! Help out anytime.
Tumblr media
Dude his arm is getting literally burned. What kind of magic sets time on fire. Like what the fuck?
Tumblr media
Eyy back to Jellal. Erza I get that you want to save him but I don’t think you can jump out of the water with your body messed up like that (who am I kidding she destroyed a meteorite with one arm!) What up with the ship, everyone’s outside right?
Tumblr media
I was thinking that would be a good way to push him in but Anna sacrificing herself man
Tumblr media
I mean it was going to happen it was her mission to defeat Acnologia and it’s not like she could return to the past after.
Tumblr media
Dude! (Or should I say Men?lol sorry)
Tumblr media
Guys legit Ichiya is probably my least favorite character but this has put him in a whole other light. It’s showing him as a great wizard sacrificing himself for the greater good just like Makarov. Losing two masters this arc. (Anyone else shipping Ana and Ichiya cuz their ship is sailing, lol it’s the Cristina)
Tumblr media
Wow I’m glad that Jellal’s safe but just wow. Ichiya knows that he deserves happiness and he can give happiness.
Tumblr media
Ichiya shipping Jerza!! He used to go after her but here he’s acknowledged them together.
Tumblr media
Oh my god it’s working but i’m so sad aughhh.
Back to Natsu I swear when this gets animated, it’s going to cause so many tears.
Tumblr media
Natsu flames as emotions I remember in the beginning of Fairy Tail he used his emotions similarly.
Tumblr media
He’s down and completely shocked, he’s like wtf just happened.
Tumblr media
I know they just died or whatever but oh my god. Wendy lost another important person.
Tumblr media
This scene, it really emphasizes this arc with so much sacrifice leading to victory but the cost was great. So many deaths for others to live.
Tumblr media
Natsu fucked up his arm. I don’t think no amount of healing can fix that. Hey his hair is turning black! What’s gonna happen now?
Tumblr media
Woah wait a sec. Now it’s Mavis’s turn wtf??? What up with her eyes!!?! And Natsu still calls him brother!!! Augghh!
Tumblr media
Oh my god the next chapter is called the life force and honestly I’m scared that Mavis is going to end both of their lives. Her eyes are weird and if she has the same curse as Zeref she might kill them both. Hey she should kiss him this time and put him to sleep like what he did to her. But seriously they might both die. Zeref wanted to erase their first meeting so i get if Mavis is mad about that and all the other stuff he did but please no I ship Zervis so hard. Next chapter please!!! What about turning Natsu human, can we see that!?!

My Strength Lies in You || Chapter 5
Fandom: Final Fantasy XV Title: My Strength Lies in You Chapter: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 (Eventual) Pairing: Noctuna (Noctis Lucis Caelum x Lunafreya Nox Fleuret) Characters: Noctis Lucis Caelum, Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, Gladiolus Amicitia, Ignis Scientia, Prompto Argentum Rating: T Genre: Friendship, Romance (slow burn, maybe?) Summary: Noctis has come of age, and he embarks on a journey to see more of his country and of the world alongside his four closest friends. Wherever they go, they protect the people, fight monsters and daemons, and heal the Starscourge. AU where Noctis isn’t the Chosen King and there’s no war with the Empire. Author’s Note: Sorry for how long this took! And, I think this is probably going to be the last chapter that follows this sorta day-by-day format. Time to start moving time more efficiently now that the group has its solid combat chemistry >:D I hope my staff-wielding Luna is properly badass. She has more moves to show off for sure, but I think this was a good start~
AO3 Link
Noctis was brimming with excitement as they walked up to the chainlink fence blocking off the entrance to the abandoned underground shelter. The few hunts they had taken care of the other day were more of a warm up, while this would at last be the real deal, to truly see how well they all fought. He glanced back at his friends and grinned, while reaching out to open the door, "Ready? ...Ah, it's locked."
Prompto laughed at how disappointed he sounded, snapping a picture of the prince's dejected expression before Ignis passed in front of the lens with a sigh. "I picked up the key this morning. They were sure to inform me that they have duplicates, so we need not worry if anything happens."
"In case we lose it?" Prompto asked, taking another handful of pictures while Ignis unlocked the gate.
Noctis smirked and cocked his head back as he looked at his friend, "More like in case we die in there."
"Cheery!"
"Let's be sure they don't have to worry about replacing this one," Gladio added with a smirk as they passed through the gate.
"They won't," Luna added, as excited as the rest of them to step into this adventure, grinning and brimming with confidence.
"Right! Let's go!" Noctis grinned, pumping his fist up excitedly, Prompto and Gladio joining him in the cheer.
The tunnels were tighter than Noctis had expected, and it didn't take long before the darkness overshadowed everything and they had to switch their lights on. A steady yellow glow caught his attention and he glanced behind him to see Luna holding her staff, the weapon giving off the warm light. He grinned and nodded to her, giving her a thumbs up. She smiled to him and returned the nod.
Gladio edged quietly to the front, taking the point position as the group carefully picked their way through old and unmanaged tunnels. Ignis was just to the rear of the group to watch their backs, Prompto and Luna just in front of him. "Will that light keep the daemons away, Lunafreya?" Prompto asked tentatively, sounding a bit nervous now that they were really in the dark and underground.
She shook her head, following Noctis and Gladio down a path as they searched for what lay at the end of a cable running along the wall. "It isn't strong enough for that. But it will weaken them, and it makes my weapon much more deadly to them."
"Does it take a toll on you, magically?" Ignis inquired, his voice simply curious.
"No, not really. I don't have to channel it, the spell will last for quite some time and it takes very little to refresh it."
"Woah, it sounds like a real life RPG...," Prompto sounded awed, and Noctis laughed at his comment.
"...Th-That would be Noctis' fault," Luna answered, looking somewhat shy and embarrassed. "When we discussed our magics, it was the word he used for what I was describing... I didn't know it was from video games..."
"Does it matter where it's from if it works?"
"No, but I wish you'd told me all the same..."
He grunted softly and shrugged, flashing her a grin over his shoulder, "I'll remember next time."
Coming upon a generator, they looked at it a moment before they all seemed to shrug at the same time. Noctis turned it on and took a step back, and they all looked up as weak lights dotted the path. "Alright!" Prompto whooped quietly, "Now we can see what's up ahead!"
Continuing on the path, Prompto was a little cheerier for a time, but the closeness of the tunnels had him spooked even with the lights, and he kept looking around nervously. "Doesn't it feel like we're being watched...?"
"By who?" Noctis joked, looking over skeptically.
"Ghosts? ...Daemons? Lunafreya, can you like, I don't know, sense daemons, or anything like that?"
"Not exactly, but I can tell you that the Starscourge has certainly swept through these tunnels, so there most likely are daemons about."
"Great."
"Not like we weren't already told that."
"Shh! Do you hear that?" Prompto turned and looked around, drawing Noctis' and Luna's attention. There was suddenly a loud rattle and Prompto shouted, turning around quickly while retreating from the sound.
"...Kicked a can," Gladio stated as he realized everyone was looking his way.
"You gave me a heart attack, man!" Prompto whined, clutching his chest.
"Stop jumping at everything."
"It's not that easy for me, big guy..."
"Well, just remember this big guy is in front and they gotta get through me, first."
"Oh yeah, good point. I feel a lot better now, actually."
The group laughed quietly though they quickly hushed as they harbored a healthy concern for the things that had long lived in the shadows. Luna kept her staff in her hands the whole while, showing more strength than one might first think at seeing her slender shoulders and arms. They crept down a set of stairs and followed a tunnel straight until they reached its end with a choice on where to look next. Noctis nodded to the left, and just as Gladio took his first step forward, a loud clatter of metal being slammed against had them all bringing weapons to the ready.
There was nothing there though, and they looked at each other before Noctis made the call for them to turn around and investigate a locked room they had just passed. They found it now unlocked and opened the door, cautiously stepping inside to peek around. When Ignis was the last to step into the room, the door suddenly slammed shut and a small group of Goblin daemons appeared from the shadows.
Everyone quickly jumped into action, with Prompto trying to get some distance to properly aim his weapon, the light from Luna's staff aiding them all. The cramped quarters made it tough for Gladio to swing his sword, and he covered Noctis instead, Crown and Shield switching off to slash with Noctis' slimmer blade and then bash with Gladio's shield. Ignis had turned to face the daemon that had shut the door, and it was Luna who covered his back.
She hooked her staff under her arm for stability and lunged, knocking a Goblin into a wall with a searing hole of golden light in its chest. While it clawed at the unusual sensation of pain, she brought the staff cleanly down and killed the creature. There was no time to feel smug that she had gotten the first daemon out of the group, and she sidestepped with a turn as another Goblin tried to slice at her back with its claws. In a powerful swing with the distance of her staff carefully measured to not hit the wall as well, she slammed light and steel into its side and sent it soaring across the small room to slam into a wall and disappear in its death.
Hooking her staff under her arm once more, she turned, and quickly eased when she saw that had been the last of them. Catching Gladio's surprised and impressed expression, she turned a smile to him while Noctis switched on another generator that was in the room. "I did say I'm much better at fighting against daemons than beasts."
"You did," he laughed suddenly, setting his hands on his hips as he grinned at her. "You're a helluva lot stronger than you look, aren't you?"
"Thank you for noticing."
He laughed again and clapped her shoulder before he headed for the door to take back up his position in the front. Prompto was much more cheerful after the fight than he had been before, for all of his anxiety the rush seemed to help him work it all out. He grinned happily as he came up beside her and held up his camera, "I think I got an awesome shot of you fighting, I hope it came out as good as I think!"
"Prompto, you're supposed to be shooting enemies. With your gun," Noctis shook his head, pretending to be annoyed as he gave his friend a gentle shove against the shoulder.
"Hey man, I didn't have a shot anywhere I looked, so I thought I'd get some badass memories instead!"
"As long as you have your priorities," Ignis added slyly, and they chuckled quietly before slipping out of the room to continue forward once more.
Gladio led the way back to where they had been, and before they reached the junction to turn left, Noct stepped up beside Luna and lightly tapped her arm with the back of his hand. He grinned at her and gave her a thumbs up and a wink. She smiled gratefully to him and nodded, clutching her staff tight for a moment with determination that broadened his grin.
They slowly approached the tunnel reaching its premature end from a cave-in some unknown time ago. On their side though was a door, and before Noctis reached out to it, they heard the sudden squealing of an old valve opening and then the rush of water for a brief moment before it was closed and the water turned to a drip. Looking between each other, Prompto certainly didn't seem excited by the idea of investigating the sound, but Noctis opened the door and took a step in, Gladio close behind him, and they scanned the room.
Keeping in mind how the last door was shut behind them, Gladio stood at the door to be sure it stayed open until they were all inside. Taking a look around, there was no immediate sign of where the water could have come from, and Noctis went for a door on the far wall. Still no daemons showed up as they investigated the large group showering room, and they couldn't even figure out which pipe might have been turned on. Noctis tried each one, and nothing worked.
Prompto hugged himself, more spooked than before, "Now that's really creepy. Daemons are bad enough, but this is some ghost level nonsense..."
"Or maybe they shut off the water at its source," Luna suggested.
"So they're smart enough to pull off this horror show? Never mind what I said before, that's even worse..."
The group filed back out of the small tiled room and into another small daemon ambush. They were far more prepared for what they were now up against, and each of them fell easily into their positions. Luna noticed that it was Prompto that Gladio now watched more than her, and a quick glance at him made her grin. He was nervous in this environment for sure, but he had a calm head and good instincts, getting away from the enemy and retreating in ways that the others could cover him until he could get into position for firing his gun. It was a difficult weapon to use in the tight caves for certain, but he was adapting well.
Now that they were fighting the kinds of enemies that she was more accustomed to, everything seemed to fall into place for the group on the whole. They continued on and easily through another battle against more Goblins, playing off of each other and calling out information when needed. That they were able to follow each other so well in combat was impressive, and while things weren't perfect, they were improving with every skirmish. The enemies were simple enough to fight, but the tight and dark quarters forced them to learn each other well and swiftly.
"This is looking a bit more promising...," Prompto mumbled as they followed a slope downwards. Things looked less finished, like they were coming to the end where the tomb would be.
Luna gripped her staff tightly a hair faster than Gladio picked up on the danger, and they called out at nearly the same time, "Look out!"
Noctis leapt backwards in a blue blur as a creature crashed down where he had been standing. Alone on its left, Gladio summoned his greatsword and swung it down, bringing a startled hiss of pain from the enemy. "It's an Arachne!" Luna informed the group, holding her staff upright in front of her and strengthening the glow. "Watch out for its electric attacks and its babies!"
"Babies!?" Prompto whined, firing off at its spinneret.
"There is one thing that tends to work on spiders...," Ignis suggested with a hint of question directed at Luna, calling his daggers back to his hands after tossing them at the enemy.
"Yes," she nodded, washing the room in light bright enough that now it bothered even the five of them, though not nearly so much as it did the daemons. A Goblin had been about to tear into Gladio's back but instead it hissed in pain and covered its eyes just to be picked off by Prompto. "Fire is most effective against them."
Ignis smirked and pulled out a sphere that appeared to be burning in his hand though he gave no indication that it was. "I'll have to ask you all about the daemons you can identify at some point. Look out!" He shouted the last before tossing in the spell and setting fire to the Arachne and her newly hatched babies, the spider daemons hissing and screeching in pain.
"Noct, now!" Gladio shouted, and the pair charged in, Noctis trading his Engine Blade for a greatsword as well, using his warp to get more speed and strength in his swing. The two struck at it from either side, not unlike a large set of shears might, and finally the Arachne let out its final screech and disappeared in a cloud of black.
Luna eased the spell of light she had been focusing on, a light sheen of sweat on her brow from the power required for the stronger light she had conjured for the fight. Everyone leaned on their weapons or the wall for a moment, catching their breath, and then they looked around at one another and laughed quietly. "Well, I sure hope that was the last exciting thing of the day!" Prompto declared, his gun disappearing from his hand.
"Except for finding this tomb," Noctis added, and he stepped further into the tunnel under Gladio's watchful eye. "And I think that's it..."
"Yes!"
"Don't celebrate until we open the door," Noctis chided playfully, and the group followed him to the door of the tomb.
Finding exactly what they were looking for inside, the prince's companions spread out behind him to watch as he bonded with another of his ancestor's weapons. Taking in a steadying breath as he stepped up to the stone statue laying in place of a body, he looked over the large axe that it clutched. Setting his hand over it, he called out to it and stepped back when a blue flash filled the room and the spirit form of the weapon hovered in the air.
It pierced into him, and he felt a brief wash of pain that was over as fast as it began, like a flash of fire that left no burns. That fire was the ferocity of his ancestor, a powerful warrior who had personally seen to the expansion of the realm's borders. Noctis could feel it, a strength and desire for unification. It had been during a time when people were scattered, there wasn't enough infrastructure. His fights to expand lands had been more against territorial bandits who raided the supply lines he painstakingly built to help his people to prosper, and most welcomed his governing as he was fair and never taxed people into poverty.
Blinking his eyes, Noctis was surprised by that powerful rush. At first breath it had felt as though the man were a conqueror, but the rest of those strongest memories told him the man was anything but, willing to leave people lands as long as they would leave alone those who welcomed his protections. In time, as those flourished under him and bandits gave up on raids as it meant facing him, they saw to add themselves, and relations had turned well in the ancient king's latter years.
He sighed silently, his resolve strengthening to take the fierce dedication and protectiveness close to heart. No one would hurt his people as long as he could do something to stop it, and he strove to be powerful enough to guard them with his own hands.
Turning around, he smirked and nodded to the group and they left the tomb to carefully pick their way back to the entrance. "So what's it feel like, anyways?" Prompto asked, "Having this power of the ancient kings?"
"Huh? Mm...," Noctis thought about it a moment, waiting until they were back on even ground to answer, "Not much different. Just like I've got an extra trick up my sleeve."
"Well, don't feel like you have to hold back."
"Yell at me for showing off, whine when I don't, I just can't win, can I?" Noctis asked with a breathless hint of sarcasm in his rough voice.
Gladio chuckled at that and shrugged, "He admits it, he can't win against me."
"I don't think it's something to be proud of in this case," Luna suggested with a grin.
"At least someone gets it," Noct joked.
"Sorry, my job isn't to stroke your ego," he laughed in response.
It seemed the daemons didn't dare bother with them anymore, or perhaps they had been wiped out for the time being. Whatever it was, their walk back to the surface was uneventful, and they stepped out to a sky bright with the late afternoon autumn sun. It was too late to be worth heading out for even the Hunter outpost, and so when they returned to the hotel, they confirmed their rooms again for the night.
After cleaning off the day's adventure, Luna changed into a dress since they wouldn't be leaving the town that night. Brushing out her hair, she looked curious when there was a knock on her door, and was more curious when she peeked to see Ignis. She opened the door and smiled to him, and he bowed his head apologetically, "I'm sorry, Lady Lunafreya. I know it's impolite to ask, but might I use your shower?"
He looked about ready to explain, and Luna just laughed and stepped aside, "There are four of you in there sharing one shower, and only one of me here. Go right ahead."
"Thank you."
After everyone was washed and they had all gone out to eat, with little to do in the out of the way town, Luna joined the boys in their room for some card games while it was still early. She was as shrewd as Ignis they found quickly, but each of them had their little tricks at the games that kept everything fun and interesting for everyone. When enthusiasm started to die there, Prompto took out his camera to go over the pictures he had taken. Finding the one of Luna from their first fight in the Trench, he held up his camera proudly, "Yes! It came out great, don't you think? You're really incredible, Lunafreya!"
"Ah, th-thank you... It, I mean..."
"Go on, Luna. Say it," Noctis grinned, nudging her gently. She turned an indignant pout on him and shook her head stubbornly. "Saaay iiiit."
"Say what?" she asked innocently.
"C'mon, you were gonna say that you do look cool in that photo. It's okay. You don't have to be so humble."
"That I do look as good in the photo is more a testament to Prompto's skill with the camera."
"Uh-huh."
"Hey, the photographer and the camera can only work with what we're given. It's awesome 'cause you are," Prompto grinned, trying to encourage her now that he knew what Noctis was doing.
Shaking her head, she stood up and smoothed out her dress, pretending to pout though really she had just taken a glimpse at the clock. "I believe this turn of conversation is my cue to retire."
"Right, right, sure thing, Luna." Noctis got up, trailing behind her with a smirk. "Good night," he spoke more softly at the door, leaning against the threshold as he saw to it she got into her neighboring room with no issue.
She smiled to him after getting the door open, and she nodded, "Good night, Prince Noctis."
Shaking his head as she added the title, he knew that was her way of reminding him of the things he had already accomplished in the few days they had been out. It was meant as an earnest compliment, but to him it was a reminder of how much learning and growing he still had ahead of him. That was no bad thing though as it stirred up his confident resolve, and he grinned to himself before heading in to do some rounds of King's Knight before bed.
