sirius and remus are over the dramatics james pulls when he learns that you're able attend one his games.

"baby!" james is practically screaming when he spots you in his jersey and a pair of jeans shorts that make your ass look fantastic.

it's rude to james that you chose to wear those, when he has to be on the pitch for 80 minutes.

"hi jamie," him and his team are warming up when you reach, so you get to lean over the railing and push his gelled his backwards even more.

"you look pretty," he coos, hands reaching for your face as you lean further over the railing.

james is aware of his teammates eyes on you both, probably rolling their eyes at how lovesick james is but he doesn't care.

he's of the firm belief that if they had partners as wonderful as you were they'd understand his innate need to have his hands on you and shower you in compliments.

"m'just in your shirt," you should've known better than to say that. anything that isn't agreement won't work for james.

james turns to his best friends who are stretching, "moony, doesn't she look just perfect?" he asks remus, pulling away from you a little, so his friend has a good look at you.

"perfect as ever," remus winks at you and james nods- pleased.

he turns to sirius, "siri, what do you think?"

sirius rolls his eyes, "you know full well the girl looks like a doll."

james hums, turning back to you. you're thoroughly embarrassed, his other teammates are nodding in agreement. "see? you're like a fucking painting- need your picture hung in the louvre, m'heart."

your cheeks blaze hot as coals under his palm, "go warm up," you try rushing him off but james pulls you closer, meeting your lips with his own.

"swear they'd sell out more often if you were there," he flirts again and your belly swims with the knowledge that your boyfriend finds you the most beautiful person in the world- and with james you know it's not just your physical body, but also your personality.

"stop flirting with me," you whine weakly, and you're luckily saved from more sweet words by james' coach calling for him.

"i love you!" he shouts as he runs off, chuckling when you hide your face behind your palms.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Roy barked when he realized Jamie wasn't behind him.

Jamie was walking through the garden of some stranger's house. He was parading around, carefully stepping over bushes and flowers.

"Gotta find a new flower," he said simply, looking around himself.

Roy grunted and rolled his eyes. "Look Jamie, you can garden in your own time, now we have to finish our run."

Jamie waved Roy off. Roy looked around and huffed, crossing his arms as Jamie continued to step around the garden.

The porch light flicked on, and a middle age man opened the front door.

"What are you doing in my garden?" He asked, looking between Roy and Jamie. "Hang on, you're Roy Kent!" Roy growled. "And you're-"

"Jamie Tartt, yeah, can I take this flower," he pointed at a weird looking purple flower that had several thin petals sticking out from its purple bud.

The man shrugged. "Sure."

"Mint, thanks, mate!" Jamie reached down and delicately picked the flower. "What's it called?"

The man came over and took out his glasses to look at the flower. "Oh, good choice, that is a Spider Daisy, a lovely color, the latin name is Osteo-"

"Cheers, mate, gotta dash," Jamie cut him off, stepping out of the garden and starting his jog again, carefully shielding the flower in his grasp.

Roy let out a sigh, thanked the man, and started to run off after Jamie.

You woke up to the sound of your alarm at 7:30 in the morning. It was criminal to be awake this early, especially when Jamie wasn't home yet. You grumbled and shoved your face back into the pillow.

As if on cue, the front door opened and Jamie was calling your name. You only let out a loud grunt in return, hoping he'd come in there and drag you out of bed.

The first thing you felt was his lips on your temple.

"Morning, love," He chuckled, brushing his fingers through your hair.

"Mmmm," you groaned back.

"I brought you something."

You rolled over onto your side and saw him holding out a cup of coffee. You let out a muted squeal of glee as you shuffled to a sitting position. You took a long sip of the coffee before letting a lazy smile come onto you face.

"Better?" Jamie chuckled.

"Better," You responded, nodding. "Morning, Jamie."

He grinned, leaning into towards you. "Morning."

You cupped his jaw as he leaned in to kiss you. This was a beautiful way to wake up wasn't it. You couldn't imagine a better way to wake up.

"I, uh, got you something else," Jamie mumbled. It was then you noticed he hand an arm behind his back. You cocked your head, motioning for him to continue. He pulled out the flower he'd picked up.

You're eyes widened as you smiled. "Oh, wow! It's gorgeous!"

You put aside your coffee to delicately take the flower with both hands. Jamie looked at your face as you gazed at it, reveling in his success in making you light up.

"The bloke said it was a Spider Daisy," Jamie told you, glancing between you and the flower. "I thought it looked cool."

"It does," you echoed. You traced the flower and it's interesting shape and look. "I'll press it right now."

She handed the flower back to Jamie and flew out of the bed, now suddenly much more awake. Jamie laughed as you ran to your desk and pulled out a book. You weren't wearing pants, your hair was wild, and he was pretty sure that was a wine stain on your shirt but he didn't care, he thought you looked beautiful.

You flipped through the pages, full of different flowers and dates.

"This one is so special, Jamie," you mused, coming to sit next to him on the bed. "Thank you."

"Anything for you, babe," Jamie murmured, pressing a kiss to your cheek. He was aiming for your lips but you were too excited to press your flower and turned away. He grumbled and flopped back on the bed.

I've been thinking about AGGGTM ships again. This series isn't meant to be ship heavy (as it should be, because I barely survived the shipping madness from HSMTMTS) but I love writing about both the canon + non-canon couples. So I've decided to talk about ships I've seen for AGGGTM in this post because I have uni assigments due and I wanna procrastinate.

Disclaimer: These are just ships I've seen on Instagram or Twitter. My opinion is my opinion and if you don't like it, then just move on. This is only gonna be non-canon pairings so don't expect PipRavi or JamieNat here (because I ship those and this is only about non-canon pairings).

Pippa Fitz-Amobi/Connor Reynolds: eh... I can kind of see it. I see it in the sense of them being childhood crushes that fade in a week. Connor did canonically have a crush on Pip in book 1 that faded after book 1 (it wasn't mentioned again). They wouldn't have anything long-term as they're better off friends.

Jamie Reynolds/Stanley Forbes: This ship has four fics on AO3 and I've actually enjoyed them. I'm personally more of a JamieNat shipper but this one is pretty cute. I see it as Stanley being Jamie's bi awakening (I hc Jamie as being bi). They'd be cute if you know... Stanley didn't die.

Ant Lowe/Connor Reynolds: UH NO FUCKING WAY. Even if we're going based off book 1, they'd still be awful because of how Ant acted in the series. He was so disrespectful towards Connor when he pulled that prank in Kill Joy, knowing that they were running on limited time. He's also so nasty towards Connor in Good Girl, Bad Blood when Jamie went missing. I can't even imagine these two working out in an alternate timeline because I fucking despise Ant Lowe. Fuck Ant Lowe I hope Jamie beat his ass when he found out about how he treated Pip and Connor during his disappearance.

Cara Ward/Lauren Gibson: I really like this ship! I'm still not Lauren's biggest fan (she reminds me of a former friend), but I think the show might change that since Ant's not there. Asha and Yali have lovely chemistry from what we've seen in their posts. I also feel like Lauren having a sapphic arc would be better than that Ant/Lauren nonsense. Seriously, wtf was that???

Zach Chen/Connor Reynolds: YES YES YES YES. If you follow me, then you know how much I love this ship (I created their AO3 tag btw). They would be so cute together! I kinda feel like Connor had a little crush on Zach in the book (he was acting pretty secretive about where he was after the memorial in ggbb. Like dude, nobody cares if you were playing Fortnite with Zach. Is there something else you're not telling us???). I would love for them to make them canon in the show (especially since Zach is there... and why would you add him but cut Ant?), but it's unlikely.

Pippa Fitz-Amobi/Max Hastings: EWWW DISGUSTING. IF YOU FUCKING SHIP THIS GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME YOU WEIRDO 🤮 (Yes, this is a real ship I've seen when looking through the ship tags on ao3 😭).

oh you're right, i hadn't realised this! i think you'd definitely respond a little bit like that, very "oh, i've heard so much about you!" in a bit of a teasy voice, but then be like "no seriously everyone's been so complimentary about you, i'm looking forward to working with you" (because at that point he's still creative director). and matty smiles far more cutely than you'd expect a superstar like him to, half because he's touched by what you said and half because he's internally like "oh my GOD she's beautiful", and says "i'm looking forward to that too! unfortunately jamie's been keeping you a total secret from everyone so i know literally nothing about you, darlin', and i'd really like to". and you're internally like "wtf matty healy just said he wants to get to know me omg does he fancy me too o_0", and then you remember you're colleagues now and he's just being polite (lol no he isn't bitch) so you say "i like the sound of that!" - you guys kind of smile at each other shyly for a second before jamie interrupts, and then you actually do have to do some work lol. when you do start getting a little bit more flirty with each other and hanging out just the two of you, you make a really conscious effort to buy your own stuff, not allowing matty to be too extravagant with you, and to consult him when it's your turn to plan meetups (dates) like "i was thinking we could go here but i don't know how busy it will be, like obviously if that's too public for you i can sort something else out"; matty, bless him, is actually like "do you... not want to be seen with me? have i gotten the wrong idea a bit? do you just want this to be casual?", like the thought that you might be using him for fame has genuinely not crossed his mind because you're so focused on your own career/making your own money and you're so open with him about everything that he thinks it would be impossible for you to have ulterior motives. and you're immediately feeling so awful that he thinks that, reassuring him that "no, i really do like you, like really really like you. i just don't want to come across like i'm using you for money or fame or anything like that, because i'm absolutely not" - matty pulls you into a hug immediately like "oh, sweetheart, i know you're not" and thanks you for being honest with him, and things progress nicely into the relationship we all know and love <3

I saw All of Us Strangers, the sad sexy gay movie, and it's very sad, it's very sexy, it's very gay, and it's very, very, very weird.

I will put anything spoilery below the cut but my only non spoilery thought is... that sure was based on a japanese book.

Ok read below at your own peril. ALSO if you have somehow avoided seeing the trailer for this movie, PLEASE DO NOT SEE THE TRAILER. Go in as absolutely blind as you possibly can. DO NOT LEARN A SINGLE THING!

Ok spoilers below the cut.

I have seen many mixed reviews of this movie, and my review is also mixed! Did it devastate me? It did not! It did devastate my friend who was like, do not see this alone you will need emotional support! But she has lost a parent, which I definitely think will influence your thinking about this movie! I found it very sad and moving AS a parent, but not like, devastating.

I think the twist of the movie is not that there's one twist, but two. Unfortunately, the first twist is given away in the marketing-- you know he visits his parents, but you also know his parents are dead. So right away you're trying to figure out are they ghosts? is it real? is he just imagining it? So you're primed to be like, wtf is going on. I wish I hadn't been like that, bc that had me looking for the catch the whole time!

The SECOND twist is that Harry --Paul Mescal -- is also dead. But I like, also knew that? I knew the whole time that there would be a catch with his character too, I guess, even if I didn't know if he was dead. Bc I was primed to look for a twist! I think my thought the whole time was that he was screenwriting the visions with his parents, and then ALSO screenwriting the parts with Harry. The first encounter with harry was real, and then after that was invented. I wish that had been real, actually. I think mescal being dead put too much of a pin on it. He sees dead people!

There is some good sexy parts if you find either of the leads hot, and surely everyone on earth must find at least one of them hot! Great year for Ireland babes!

Claire Foy is so so so good and I hope she has more parts soon. Jamie Bell was also good! This was just a four hander so I can confidently say everyone was good!

I just really wish Harry hadn't been dead. That was just too clear cut in a movie that was otherwise extremely not clear cut. It did lead to the beautiful closing shot, which I LOVED. I guess maybe if he was alive then there would still have been some hope for Adam (andrew scott).

OK ALL THE MECHANICS ASIDE, I loved so much of this! I loved the foggy structure, I loved the way it was filmed, I loved the way Adam used memory and I guess imagination to give himself the love he never otherwise got. He was so generous to himself when he was otherwise so isolated from the world. That's the saddest part! I think I'd like to see it again so I can just let myself slip through it and not be so caught up on how it works.

I'm also sad bc I would like to talk about this movie but I don't think anyone has seen it!!

Things have gone way too far. Jess stans are horrible and attack innocent people for no reason. They are too busy living in their little perfect fantasy world that they can't see anything else. They are unable to accept reality nor find evidence for their claims. Then they just keep denying things and not giving any good answers, that's just sad. I feel sorry for Jamie that some people in his fandom are unbalanced, crazy people who forget his humanity.

And that "conversation" was a horrible read. I was like WTF she said one thing and then next thing basically denied everything she just said. She just made herself look like an idiot. I hope all of this will be over as soon as possible and Jamie gets rid of that b*tch.

The conversations with these people (or this person still not sure they aren't just the same person on two accounts) are something like:

Them: Jess was always nice to me Me: So you know Jess personally? Them: I never said that why are you putting words in my mouth Me: Because you said Jess was always nice to you which is like saying you know her? Them: I do know her she's a great person and you're so mean!

The most recent conversation I had with this person they claimed to know Jamie and Jess personally. Then I asked if they hung out with them and stuff and they said no they didn't hang out with them and I'm like what are you talking about? Then they go on to say that they are friends with Jess and Jamie through a mutual friend and that people talk to Jamie about them when they see him at conventions (as if that means anything). I told them they aren't friends with Jamie because they paid for a photo op with him but then they said they never paid for pictures with him and I said so you hang out with him and they said no.

I don't know what this person (or people) has going on in their head that makes them like this but it's really not helping their argument or making the stans look good right now. Though I think they all know they can't defend what Jess does so they don't try. If they want to keep looking like clowns it's not hurting me any so I say let them.

Where S3 of Ted Lasso Went Wrong

There are a lot of people bemoaning the ending of season 3 of Ted Lasso, but not too many people going into depth about how/why it failed to satisfy. Well, perhaps it would be more accurate to say that there are, but I feel a lot of them get it wrong. There's a legion of dissatisfied shippers and weird media takes (including one that was like "it's because kindness is unrealistic" - wtf man no).

Here's my take. There are multiple problems in season 3 and they are: 1. It's a show about mental health that really needed a consulting therapist in the writers' room. Ted Lasso showed minor signs of this in s2. Namely, Sharon's (attempted) abrupt departure and how she went drinking with Ted are both big no-nos within the profession. It gets worse in s3.

The show features numerous abusive relationships, but fails to acknowledge that Jane's relationship with Beard as one. Brendan himself pushes back on the idea that Jane is abusive. And yet, she really is. From damaging his property, to attempting to disrupt Beard's friendships with others (namely Ted), to threatening self-harm to control him. These are classic abuser behaviors.

Sadly, even a show that's also about disrupting toxic masculinity can still fall for it and we as a society are still slow to recognize male victims of domestic abuse, but I feel like a therapist would have steered them better either in toning down Jane's behavior if they didn't want it to be abusive or to find a better solution at the ending (either breaking up the relationship or showing Jane taking accountability and getting help herself).

Jamie's dad was just...really poorly handled. Rupert may have been cast as the one irredeemable villain in the end (and even that I kind of question) but the ultimate abuser of the show was James Tartt Sr. The idea that Jamie could just forgive him (a method of moving on that's a lot iffier, complex, and not really for everyone) and then the relationship be...fine, is so SO damaging. Because it rarely works that way. Yes, James was in rehab and yes that signals he's doing some work, but we don't really get to see it. All we see is a scene at the end that makes it look like everything is fine now.

This is a man that was for all of Jamie's life, profoundly unsafe.

Similarly, though perhaps not as egregiously, Lloyd Shelley's relationship with Nate is going to take time. I don't really believe that "I just thought I needed to push you" is really a believable excuse to the pervasive emotional abuse for what, 30 years?

Finally, Dr. Jacob dating Michelle either should not have happened at all (one of Ted's old friends would have worked just as well, after all, I would totally believe old Ronnie would date his friend's ex after a childhood of feeding people poop candy bars) or they should have addressed the obvious abuse that is involved in dating patients. Once again, Brendan defended this that it was 18 months after the fact, but the limit is at least two years and most people in his mental health counseling would still stigmatize Dr. Jacob for that.

I also feel that Ted's ending was way more ambiguous than the show creators thought. "Be a goldfish" is really...it's not good advice. Or rather, it's really limited on what you can and should apply it too. For a man that tried to "be a goldfish" about basically witnessing his father's suicide, it's really troubling. There's something kind of concerning about how isolating it feels for Ted at the end of the episode. I've seen a lot of people talk about how Ted seems "shut down" as he's leaving Richmond and while it's probably meant to mean that he's moving on, etc, etc....it's also concerning when you're talking about someone with a history of anxiety and depression and a family history of suicides.

Now, you absolutely can translate Ted's ending as good for Ted if you want, I don't think that translation is without merit, but I also think there's plenty of signs that things are still very much Not Good for Ted. There are ways you could have had the same ending (Ted going back to Kansas) but shown Ted more definitively to be a positive space or trajectory while doing so.

These are all pitfalls that having a therapist in the writing room would have solved.

2. Pacing

Season 3 had some bumpy pacing, especially in the early - mid-season where it just seemed like All The Things were happening. The show tried to cram WAY too much in one season and even the often one hour episodes failed to accommodate it. One of the biggest problems was the addition of way too many new secondary characters that seemed to come and go in ways that didn't seem to leave such a big effect in the long run.

I would have cut the Shandy storyline and focused more on the Jack one, for instance. Shandy just didn't amount to much in the end, felt like a waste of time. Keeley's breakup with Jack didn't make as much of an impact - Keeley's reaction to Jack ghosting her seemed overly impactful given that we the audience saw Jack for so little. Deleting the Shandy storyline would have allowed more time for Jack's at the very least and allowed it to be more impactful.

Similarly, the Kava storyline took way too much time. I'm not sure I would have cut it, but I definitely would have devoted less time to it. I feel like there are a few other areas that they could have trimmed to refocus on the main characters, the players.

3. Telling, not showing

I feel way too often they shied away from showing us emotionally resonant moments. I thought it was meaningful when they did it for Colin ("I don't want to be a spokesperson"), but not showing use Ted's truth bomb? Or Nate's return to the club? Or Nate and Rupert's conversation when Nate left? It was both unsatisfying and "flattened" the emotional experience of the show. Compound this with so much time taken by transitory extra/secondary characters and it just felt...weird, distancing, unsatisfying.

On a side note, this was the biggest flaw in Nate's storyline. A lot of people were upset because they didn't see him "redeemed" and, well, to be honest if you saw Nate as evil from the beginning or turned evil, then yes, I can see Nate's storyline as feeling weird and nonsensical. But I also feel like that's a fundamentally wrong interpretation of Nate. If you see Nate as a good person who was hurting and lashed out, his story in season 3 makes a lot of sense. It's still an issue that we didn't see key beats of Nate's story, but tbh if you saw Nate as evil, then I don't think seeing those scenes would have made the story make any more sense.

4. Keeping Chekhov's Gun on the Wall

"Chekhov's gun is a dramatic principle that suggests that details within a story or play will contribute to the overall narrative. This encourages writers to not make false promises in their narrative by including extemporaneous details that will not ultimately pay off by the last act, chapter, or conclusion." X

For a show that was a master example of how to effectively use Chekhov's Gun in season 1-2, it dropped so many threads in s3. Ted's panic attacks being leaked to the press has nearly no effect past the 2.12. Not in terms of the public or even among his friends who don't seem to understand how he's struggling.

Now, while I do feel it's a valid (if perhaps unpopular) choice not to have Ted and Rebecca end up romantically together, it does feel extremely strange to show us they have related traumatic events happen on the same day, then....do nothing with it. I feel tedbecca was always "optional" to the story but the connection they unknowingly share from their simultaneous trauma needed to be explored and wasn't.

Yeah I've never liked how she treats Jimmy. I didn't like how she stepped on Frank's toes from the get-go cuz well, Aidan is my baby so I always back his characters. But it was more than just that with her.

I am by no means a woman who feels like a man should "wear the pants" in the family and that women shouldn't be opinionated or can't lead, but she just completely disregards his feelings altogether. And he's right, she does make decisions without asking him. I don't care if you're man or woman, if you're in a committed adult relationship, you consult your partner on most things, but especially the big things.

In the first season she had the audacity to want Michael to speak at Jamie's funeral but didn't seem interested at all in Jimmy speaking. Jimmy was the one who raised him. Unfortunately I feel like Jimmy is about to make some bad choices just to level the playing field with Amanda, which I think is so fucking stupid for the writers to do. She's in the wrong but I have a feeling they're going to make him do something stupid so she comes out looking good.

Oh, and Frank's "ulcer"...yeah I still feel like they're setting up his death. Which, wtf, why bring him back just to kill him? Makes no damn sense. But right now his character is so irrelevant. He has no say anymore. He's living like a slob, going down hill mentally. I feel like that scene in tonight's episode was foreshadowing his death. And how his little body guard dude got onto him about saying he wished the bullet had hit Bren. He was like, "Don't ever say that out loud again Frank." It's possible they're telling us Bren's going to kill or have Frank killed. To be honest, if it weren't for Aidan I wouldn't even watch this show.
